>Fever!
Exile Island is a tropical mass of land floating in the southwest sea. The outer edge is a rocky beach, and the center is mostly jungle. The island is nearly devoid of sentient life, save for the prisoners left there to die, who live mostly on what fish they can catch and as much water as they can collect.

Afrikanus Scipio is self appointed leader of the exiles. Through brute strength and wit, he wrangled the men sentenced to die on the island into a survivable tribe. Though they are still strong willed, your time spent around Scipio makes it clear that to challenge him for control is to challenge a bear with nothing but a stone in your hand. The exiles are nearly all thin men with lean muscle, but somehow Scipio has retained quite a bit of mass and even looks somewhat healthy. You're sure it's not due to food, since not even the entire groups rations could achieve what he's maintained.

Scipio, after finding you retreating into the jungle from the bombardment of the shore, leads you back to the exile camp, speaking of bringing you into the clan. You do not let on yet what your true intention is, only sit back and gather information. On the third day, you have learned as much as you care to about the men of the island. Dragging all 60 exiles back will be extremely difficult, and hiding them would be nearly impossible. Your only choice is to capture the ship the next time it comes to drop exiles in one month. That means you have one month to whip the men into a decent fighting force. It is good to know that most of them are already decent in a fight. Sparring on the island is the only sport they have, and Scipio is especially talented. Now it's time to test the waters and see if you can convince them at all.

My family has been nothing but crooks and mercenaries ever since. I, on the other hand, don't want to spend my life stealing or locked up or on this gods forsaken island. Scipio agrees to oversee their training as a unit, and you learn that some of them are even knowledgeable in basic magic. When you arrive, the trip has drained you quite a bit, and you must stumble back to Helda and have a long rest before you are ready to be up and active. In the meantime, however, you inform Helda that you want to produce a few potions for the assault. She nods and goes to find her recipes. With 30 days left, you can produce ten batches, which isn't a lot, but it will hopefully give you an edge. Helda brings her recipe book over and asks what you'd like to brew.

You tell Helda to start preparing Wyrm's Breath. She smiles and gets to work gathering the ingredients. After an hour or so of relaxing on the couch, you get up and start helping. The process of mixing the brews brings you back to the days when you were still Helda's property. Things seem so different now.

With ten batches, you'll have 120 bottles of Wyrm's Breath. That should be more than enough to take out a few key points, but not really enough to serve as true artillery. Still, it's a better chance. You spend the month mixing and pouring the mixtures, until it's nearly time to head back to the island. You hug Helda goodbye and Step back.

The trip again leaves you drained, but when you arrive Scipio tells you that the ship is still miles away. You have time to rest and group up for the plan. The exiles are all armed with spears, which means your outnumbering the crew is your best bet to take them. Scipio sits nearby and asks what the plan is.

This turns into hundreds. You couldn't ask for better. You raise your bandaged has up to bring the noise down. The people begin asking questions, as to how exactly the plan will work.

A) Tell them to cause chaos in the upper quarter to draw out the authorities
B) Tell them to combine their strength to assault the capitol building
C) Tell them to ambush officers and officials and take them hostage

You explain to them where the caches of armor and weapons will be stored, and where to meet up before the attack. They are nervous, clearly, but many among them seem to be quite passionate, especially the young ones. You then tell them that when the assault commences, they are to ambush as many men and women in decorated uniform as they can, as well as people who look to be important, likely guarded by an entourage. You explain that this will be dangerous, but if they are careful, then things should go smoothly. One of the women asks where you will be during all of the fighting.

You explain that while they are sewing chaos around the upper quarter, you will be using the confusion to attack the president and congress directly. The people seem skeptical that you can handle it all alone, but you assure them that you have a plan and the skills needed to do it. One of the older men asks if you're sure you won't be needing a fighting force to secure the capitol building.

You tell them that you have anticipated everything ahead of time, and that you are sure things will go smoothly. Again, they seem doubtful, but the energy in the room is self feeding now. With that, you dissolve the meeting and tell everyone to go back to their homes to rest and prepare. You watch them shuffle out of the old tavern, mumbling and grumbling to each other. So far things seem to be going smoothly, but you recall reading in one of Arco's books a quote from someone that said 'no plan ever survives contact with the enemy'. You need to be alert and decisive when things finally go down. Your hands are still injured, and the exiles will arrive tomorrow night.

You decide to use the rest of the night to investigate the mage platoon's movements. You spend three or so hours watching them, but to your surprise they move very little. Most of them remain inside, brewing batches of potions in a sort of factory. The rest either stand guard at the capitol building, or other important looking official buildings. This may make things easier, or harder. It's tough to say just yet.

You descend from the rooftops in the upper quarter and Step back into the warehouse. Helda is nearly done with the Red, and says it only needs to cool over night before it's fit to drink. As you undress, she approaches you with a worried look.

"So tomorrow...I guess I just have to wait here for you to get back? It's not like I think I'll be a huge help, and to be quite honest I'm much too afraid to enter a warzone like that. Just promise you'll come back in one piece, okay? I don't want to have to close my eyes when we're in bed because you let someone chop your nose off." She says this last part with a bit of a giggle.

A) Tell her when you return, you'll be a ruler

You comfort Helda with a joke or two, and then ask her to spend the night with you to restore yourself before the fight. She is more than happy.

You awake at around 2 o'clock, and go to check on the Red. It's cooled and perfect. You scoop some up in a bottle and drink it down. You can feel the bones in your hands mending and righting themselves. When its done its work, you unwrap your hands and check them. Good as new. You head back to the bedroom and begin to dress, doing your best to refuse Helda another hour of intimacy. Time is of the essence now, and tomorrow night the two of you can make love in the president's bed. When you are ready, you kiss Helda goodbye and set out.

You move about town, checking all the caches to be sure things are still in order. Everything seems undisturbed, and you see many people hanging around them, likely anxious to start the operation. You'd like to tell them to clear out, but that would only be more suspicious. Once you've checked on every cache, you head to the highest point of town you can get to to look out over the coast. Lucky for you, your years of hunting have improved you vision. You can just barely make out a ship anchored a few miles out. You Step over, and find yourself about 10 feet above the deck of the ship, on accident. You do your best to play it off as an entrance, but not all the men buy it. You ask for Scipio, who tells you that everything is going smoothly. They plan to dock after sunset and head ashore to the nearest cache. With that all done, and it being nearly sunset as it is, you Step back to the capitol and inspect the state of the upper quarter. Everyone is just as calm and complacent as usual. They mill about like sheep, completely unaware of your plans. As you think this, however, something tickles you. You look around, sensing a strong magic source nearby and approaching.

Eventually you feel it stop, and head to its location. You are brought to a large building with dozens of people gathering outside. They all look very important. In the crowd, it is impossible to tell which single person is the source, although you'd bet your money that it's one of the well dressed guards protecting the suits. Getting closer is the only way to know for sure, but it puts you at great risk.

You descend down the nearest wall and slowly make your way into the street. The people here are speaking of important state business, totally unaware that in less than 24 hours, they won't have to worry about it at all. You enter the crowd and begin feeling around for the source of magic you felt before. It is close by. You move left, then right, gauging the rough distance. Eventually you find yourself drawn up the stairs to the building, and see a large group of people guarded by an even larger group of men in very polished armor. The people seem to be the president and her cabinet, and the guards are clearly the most elite the Republic has to offer, judging only by their posture and poise. Still, any one of them could be the source. Getting closer is the only way to be sure, and yet something feels off about one of the guards. His armor is different from the others by a few modifications.

You retreat from the crowd and get to an alley. You pick up a stone and Atomize it, setting the clock for five minutes. You then Step up onto the roof of the building and drop the stone. Waiting for the Step spell to become available again, you feel the source of magic moving. It head inside, but from this angle you can't see down beneath the entrance to tell who it is. Then the Step spell becomes available again, and the Atom spell is just about ready to go off. You've no time to dawdle, and you Step down onto a building in the distance. The stone explodes with great force, cracking and nearly collapsing the front roof of the building. The people below scream and scatter, as the men in uniforms try to wrangle them. You look at the entryway and see the president and her cabinet, as well as the guards, are already making their way to safety. The special guard you noticed earlier seems stern faced despite the circumstances. They head down the road and toward the capitol building.

You're sure it's him now. Without the larger group getting in the way, you can tell that the signature is still near the president, and he seems the most likely candidate. He leads the president up the walkway to the capitol building. If they get inside, you won't have another chance until the assault, but none of the men are in position to fight yet. She turns and looks shocked by your outburst, and just as you suspected her men draw swords and the two lesser of them approach you, threatening to bring you in if you don't disperse. You turn and don your hood, choosing to spend the time you have left helping the exiles set up rather than start brawls in the street. Still, as you walk you can't help but feel like you should have gotten rid of those two guards, just to spite the government.

You make it to the docks just as the exile ship enters port. The men on deck wave as you approach. Soon they begin to file down the plank, and you lead them to the nearest cache. They are excited to be given weapons and armor, to the point that you must speak up in order to insure that they stay focused. Scipio himself dons the heaviest armor in the store, and takes up a greatsword you didn't even know you had. One of the smiths you hired must have mixed up an order. Scipio seems quite happy with it, though, so you don't mind.

By now, the people of the city are in position and ready to begin. The city officials are mostly indoors, but many peace officers are out trying to settle the upper quarter. When they go missing, the gentry will panic, making it easier for the troops to storm and take important figures. You brief the men quickly on the operation, telling them that you'll wait until the city is stirring to make the charge on the capitol. You entrust Scipio with command of the exiles, and Step up to a roof to wait. You stand, looking out over the dark city. The capitol building stands against the dark sky, lit by magic lanterns lining it's outside. You reach down and pick up a brick that someone has carelessly left on the roof when they were making repairs. Using Atom and Reach, you hurl it as high and far as you can, then watch as it explodes. creating a bright light and loud boom for all to hear. The attack begins.
