It was entirely possible that Saori, Mako and Hana would go to dinner here- it looked like they hadn't even noticed you. For a few minutes, you even thought you might actually get your nice, quiet dinner-and-movie-date with Miho.

You are Commander Russells of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and you just wanted to enjoy the breadsticks, soda and company of your girlfriend- then Yukari called you to the bathroom and things went downhill.

Regardless of how annoyed you were to find your driver waiting in the men's bathroom with Yukari. However, when it comes to women he has experience, and as you sit back down at Miho and attempt to pretend nothing happened, his advice seems solid.

You do not know what you ask. Russels has been building spaghetti since the day he set foot on the carrier. If he loses his pasta, we could be looking at at Chernobyl levels of cataclysm. Russels will lose all of his spaghetti in a catastrophic event in the future.

Likely immediately after Miho wins the championship, in public, on TV.

It will be released when, in a fit of celebration at the climax of the story, she grabs our crotch.

Then Anchovy will sit bolt upright in her bed, sensing a great disturbance in the Pasta. As if millions of noodles suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly awkward.

You put on a smile, barely glancing over at Saori- and just barely catch her glancing your table. Yeah, she's in on this.

Act casual, Russells. You give Miho a big smile. "So, anything look good?" You say, peeking down at your own menu- for an ostensibly French restaurant there's Italian pasta, German deserts and, perhaps most out of place, hamburgers. You'd be a lot more perplexed if you hadn't seen Chinese all-you-can-eat restaurants with Sushi and tempura and, on one occasion, Kimchi.

Yeah. As an American, you don't have room to complain.

"What's this... Supageti Carubanara?" She says.

"Spaghetti Carbonara? Oh- it's noodles with... Actually it's pretty good." You say with a nod. "My grandfather's got a great recipe for it..." You say, glancing again over at Saori's table.

Glancing back down at the menu, you decide on something you don't quite recognize- French into Japanese into English makes it's name generally unrecognizable, but it's beef, bacon and potatoes- sounds right up your alley.

On time, the waiter returns. "And you are ready to order?"

I feel really bad for Rabbit Team. The Lee uses an air-cooled engine which was notorious because it drew its air from the crew compartment, which on cold nights basically sucked cold air directly onto the crew.
>>
>>29643598

>A literal metal box

You moron. Even modern things like TLAVs are cold as balls in winter, you need proper kit. That includes polypro, fleece, and goretex.

Mainly effective in Shermans because they were so roomy inside, by tank standards. I read a really neat memoir of a Russian tanker who was in a Lend-Lease Sherman and he said that even in full winter gear it was easy and comfortable to get in and out of the tank in a hurry, especially considering how small and cramped the T-34 and other Russian tanks were.

The waiter looks at you; You look at the menu. You try an attempt at the French-into-Japanese wording. He cocks his head and your face goes red- you take another attempt at it. "I'm sorry?" He says.

You bow your head in defeat, pointing to the item on the menu. At this point Miho seems to be covering a smile by taking a drink of water as the waiter nods enthusiastically. "Very good choice, sir!"

Before he has a chance to turn to Miho, you take a breath. "And Miho will have the Spaghetti Carbonara!" You say, mustering what little confidence remains. He looks from you to Miho and Miho nods. "Yes, and an ice tea."

"Very good!" The waiter says, folding his order and taking your menus. Okay, you didn't screw that up. Miho seems pleased, too!

Miho smiles at you politely and you smile back. You need small talk- a nice casual conversation. You suck at small talk.

"So..." You say nervously, not really having an idea of what you're going to say.

"This is a really nice restaurant!" Miho comments, looking around. "It's very romantic." Was it romantic? Too romantic? Oh God, yeah, you should've gone somewhere more casual! And less expensive! Miho's going to think she owes you something. That's not what you want!

Your brain is quickly accelerating like a Toyota with a malfunctioning throttle- swerving back and forth across thoughts uncontrolled and destined to crash. You feel your pulse racing and your breathing- you're breathing too hard! Stop that! She'll know something's wrong.

You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket, shaking you from your thoughts. You apologize. "Jeez- I forgot to turn it off!" You glance down at it- a simple text from Richard- "Breathe." You freeze, ignoring the instinct to look around to find him.

Instead, you take a deep breath and things become clear.

"So... What movie did you want to go see?" You ask, leaning in a bit- it's something you'd seen Richard do with women- sometimes he didn't get slapped, too- Miho leans in a bit too.

You're pretty sure that's a good sign. "Oh, I love Pixar movies! We could go see that new one! Frozen!" She seems almost giddy with excitement at the prospect. "Have you seen Brave? I loved that one!" You don't think you'd seen Miho quite so exuberant before.

American cinematic imports were wierd- Sometimes they were released at the same time, other times took months. In this case Frozen had been in the theatres last winter- fortunately you hadn't seen it yet.

"Sounds great- but no looking at me during the sad scenes!" You joke- not really, Pixar movies had a habit of having at least one bit that hit you in the right place to have you weeping like a kid.

Miho covers her mouth and laughs at this- she seems really exuberant. You blink a bit. And a bit flush. Wait a second... Your eyes narrow at you look over to Saori's table- yeah, they know you're looking right at them. And the two empty wine glasses.

You look back over at Miho who's still giggling a bit. They got her drunk.

You explain “It'll be fine, I doubt this match will last an hour so we'll have time to finish up here, and I want to see how the Crews at this club work”
The three of you hurriedly make your way to the Saloon. It's relatively full, all the chairs have been taken, you spot Ashley sitting near the door watching the match
You point at her and casually sidle up behind, there's no need to announce your prescence so you lean against the wall behind her and watch the match

It's a birds eye view of the grounds

You spot a Chaffee attempting to cross the stream by using one of the bridges located at the far end of the field

You note that there's no overwatch for the M24. Movement draws you eye to the thicket edge, it appears an M4A1 is going to take a shot at the front of the Chaffee as it crosses the bridge, except it's having trouble manuevering the barrel through the thicket without getting tangled

Looking around the rest of the screen you spot a knocked out M4A1 on the far side of the grounds, it appears as if it had crossed the ford and tried to regroup with the M24 by skirting the stream before getting knocked out. You suppose this was the cannon fire earlier

Going back to the M4A1 at the thicket patch you see its tried to get a clearer shot by moving forward through the thicket, the movement causes the M24 to bring its gun to bear on the M4A1. You already know what's going to happen, like clockwork the M4A1 halts in the thicket as the bushes wrap around the drive sprocket, the gun attempts to traverse but it to is trapped in the bushes

The Chaffee grinds to a halt, the gun finishes traversing onto the Sherman. Sensing this the Sherman attempts to reverse, but it's too late.
The Chaffee belches smoke and fire, the crack of the cannon permeates you ears and a little white flag pops out of the Sherman

>[4/?]
>>
>>29648709
You're not working on it in the pastebin, are you? If you are, it's not showing up.
>>
>>29648948
Does that acutally come up?

And not atm, I'm still doing DnD
>>
>>29648897

Your attention is drawn back to the other M24 working its way back up the stream side. It appears the Commander is intending to take the other Chaffee from the rear, in a few seconds the two of them will be able to see each other. It pauses on the reverse of the hill in a turret down position, you can see the Commander pop out to observe over the crest before buttoning up

The Chaffee that had crossed the bridge has moved into the forest that spreads along the boundaries and up to the thicket. Its tracks towards the forest are clearly visible from the aerial view, and apparently to the Chaffee on the hill as it moves to the track marks

You can tell the game is over, the Chaffee in the opening is following the tracks, in plain sight of everything. You can see the tracks head into the forest, you don't know where they lead in the forest as there is too much overhead cover to see, but you know the other team is watching

Foliage shudders and roils as bright yellow flames lick through the leaves for an instant. A round flies out of the tree line and impacts the side of the Chaffee in the clearing.

A white flag pops out. Conversation restarts and washes out the late crack of the gun

Robert whispers in your ear “You get all that?”

“Yeah, I know what to do”

If that match was anything to go by, the calibre of skill the Crews have is pretty average, they make mistakes that are obvious to them in hindsight, but not when they're in the match

You look to Rob and Hamish “Lets find John and finish off the Tee-Thirty-Two, last time I saw him was in the staging area”

“There was no one out there during the match, so I guess he's in here” Rob replies

“Alright, look around for him”

“Adam”

You look down towards Ashley “what's up”

“What did you think of the match?”

You respond treading the line between truth and lie “it was alright”

Hamish cuts into your conversation “I see him”

“Go get him”

“He's with a bunch of children”

“Don't get him then” your attention turns back to Ashley “in hindsight you can see where they went wrong”

“But do you think you can win?”

You hide your cards by shrugging “I dunno, we'll see when we get in”

John approaches from his table with the 'kids' in tow; they aren't kids, they're teenagers about the same age as the ones that were talking to Rick

“Hey man, I was just talking to Caitlin and her crew” he motions to a red headed girl

They're smiling at you, a better reaction than the crew Rick was talking to; John must have really warmed them up
A goofy grin forms on your face while looking over the Crew “how's it going”

>>29649117

“Pretty good”

“Not you John, I mean the crew you brought over”

“Well it's going well so far, but we'll see after our match”

“What tank are you using?” your suspicion perks, Johns gone and done something

“We're using a Lee” she replies curtly

“That's a big crew, when's your first match” you ask trying to confirm whether or not John has been chatting with your opponents

“We're on next, with Elizabeth's crew, going up against a Tee-Thirty-Two”

“Oh hey that's-”
you cut Ashley off “that's the tank in the private hanger right?”

“Yeah” she responds enthusiatically “I think we'll win though, apparently their team hasn't checked out the grounds and they only have two shells”

“Shit” you start planning in your head before responding “hey that's cool, I gotta go to the bathroom quickly. Good luck in your match”

You wave to the girls before turning towards your crew; you put a finger to your lips

Paper, a pen, and a map of the Grounds; these are the things you need

You spot a pen on the bar counter and you're not above swiping it. With a pen in hand you go about looking for a blank piece of paper. You spot a newspaper scattered on a table, but the blank space is far too small to write on

You turn towards a girl sitting at the bar “mate, where's some blank paper I draw on?”
“Pardon?” she responds mildly surprised

You try to put it simply “I need blank paper”

“Try outside, there's some maps with only a single side” she answers

>[7/?]
>>
>>29649186

“Awesome” you say before walking off, this is going to be easier than you expected

You walk back to the door when someone calls out to you “I thought you went to the toilet”, you look to your right and notice Ahsley is talking to you
“Oh, I lied” you reply nonchalantly "I don't even know where the toilet is"

“Wait, why?”

“I haven't felt the need to pee” you say while walking out of the Saloon

You look to your left and spot the maps sitting in a cradle hanging off the wall. How did you miss this. You grab one and head back inside while looking it over, the quality is pretty terrible but it'll do

"No, I mean why did you lie?"

"Hiding my cards, anyway, where are the starting areas on the map?”

“Pass” you give her the map after she asks and lays it down on the table she's sitting at and points to four places "Here, here, here, here. You'll never be on the same side of the stream as your opponent, I can't tell you where the Lee and Sherman will start”
You lean over the table and pull out the pen to mark the starting areas for each team

“How come you're hiding your cards?” she does those little bunny ears with her fingers while saying the latter

>[8/?]
>>
>>29649264

“Makes it easier to win” you say without looking up from the map

“Really? Is it that important for you to win?”

“Not really, but for some reason I do like seeing their reaction” you outline the low lands and river crossings as well as the high lands

“I think he has a mental condition” Rob follows up

“Really?” she asks her eyebrows raised

Your reply is quick and to the point “yes”

“I was asking Rob” she says pointing a finger at him

"Oh" you look up "that's too bad"

With the map finished you ask “I'm gonna go finish off the Tee-Thirty-Two, come if you want”

Hamish joins you in making your way to the Hangar. You still need to finish the extenders , warm the engine up, and check how much Gas you have
The tracks don't take long with the two of you working on them which leaves warming up the engine. Hamish coaxs it into life, it's relieveing that the battery hasn't died again, but there's still the plumes of smoke that come out each time

>[9/?]
>>
>>29649324

“We getting any smoke back there?” he asks climbing out of the drivers seat and onto the engine deck “yeah, we are”

“Spark Plugs?” you shoot him a question while watching her idle

“I hope” he sighs “Worst case is the injector is busted and we have to rebuild”

You check your phone “ten minutes”, you shake your head “wheel her out, not enough time to fix it and I doubt they'll see the smoke till it's too late”

She clatters out of the Hanger into the staging area, you follow on foot careful not to breath the exhaust. You spot Rick, your crew, and Ashley in the staging area
“huh”

Hamish parks up next to them, not bothering to dismount. You approach the group
“What's up guys” you finger gun at Ashley “and girls”

Rob pipes up quickly “I told Ash she could ride with us in the co-driver's seat”

“Okay” you turn to Rick “where are we starting?”

John makes his way in through the Loader's hatch while Rob helps Ashley up “wow” is all can you think

“You'll be in the Hamlet” your attention snaps back to Rick and you pull out your map

“This place?” you ask pointing to one of the corners

“Yeah, just make your way down the path, follow it and then cut to the right at the first intersection” he says pointing towards the edge of the staging area “your opponents are already in position so don't keep them waiting, match starts when the Siren rings twice, if it rings once that means the match is off, or its ended"
