You decide to drop by your Golden Weapon vault.

Second time of the day you're visiting this place. You're going a bit more slowly this time, though, with all the aches and pains from your little encounter with Sayaka flaring up with every step. ...Jesus, you're practically limping the entire way. Pathetic.

You manage to make it there without making an embarrassment of yourself, however. A sigh leaving your lips as the doors slam shut behind you, sealing you in with the most dangerous weapons you've ever laid your hands on.

You pull out the chainaxes from your inventory, and place them back on their proper rack.

Despite everything, Risa wasn't really that bad, you decide. Just a bit wild, but nothing you can't handle--
>>
>>29576190

As soon as you let go of them, it's here that the aftereffects of going an entire round with the most batshit insane Eversor this side of Kharn suddenly slam back into you full force - and you very nearly pass out from it, finding yourself knocked down to your hands and knees. Gritting your teeth, you grab something from your inventory that you've never had to grab for a long time - a bottle of Interfectum 600.

You twist the cap off, nearly tearing it off its rails, before upending the bottle into your mouth. Three makes it down your throat with the first shake, and you force yourself not to take any more. You shove the thing back into your inventory, breathing hard, waiting for the familiar effects to start pouring in.

Fuck. Is this what happens when you use the chainaxes? Add to that - is your Equerry just that much of a fucking monster?

You shake your head as your breathing stabilizes, the pleasant numbing effect of the painkillers slowly making the pain recede. Not nearly eliminating it, just reducing it into a dull throbbing sensation.

Jesus. You'll have to remember that. Not only does using the chainaxes make you hyper as fuck, it numbs pain to tolerable levels - and that effect stops once you let go of them.

Fucking bullshit, these Golden Weapons.

Anyway. What do you do now?

Also, on the subject of Sayaka being a monster: Risa wasn't the first one to notice something off about her. I was rereading the Concert arc and came across this line:

"You're not too sure if it's the trick of the light or what, or if it's just from the multiple flashbulbs going off?

But for a moment there, Sayaka's eyes looked completely black for a moment. Just like Pinky's. Just like Kirika's."

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26977768/ (post 26982007, towards the bottom)

There may be other instances, but I can't remember them (and incidentally, since they probably all happened before Siberia, neither can we).

You decide to try and communicate with the VIII Golden Weapon. Namely, your Desert Eagle.

You take it out of its foam inset, the blocky firearm immediately growing warm in your hands despite the fact that it's been sitting in something resembling a walk-in freezer for God knows how long. You find yourself smiling at this, your fingers easily finding the all-too-familiar grip you've used to wield and shoot the oversized handcannon. Its weight settling comfortably, naturally in your hands. ...It almost feels like being reunited with a lost love.

After a few moments of just simply staring down at the golden firearm in your hands, you release the magazine, letting it fall down onto your other hand, before shoving it back in again and racking the slide. Turning the gun this way and that, examining it from every angle.

It's still the same thing. Still radiating a quiet menace, despite its safety still being on.

You close your eyes, here, and start to concentrate. You don't exactly get the process - you regret not grilling Yuu about it - but you remember how she coached you into doing so, that one time.

As soon as you feel the cold of the Golden Vault suddenly vanish, you open your eyes, and find yourself in a dark place. One with four mirrors on it, standing in front of you. Each one as tall as the ones Haruka used during the seeing.

You step forward, narrowing your eyes at this - and at the same moment, three reflections step forward as well. But instead of being similar to you in every way - like reflections are supposed to be - they're different. Each one drastically different to you.

One of them, the farthest to the left, looks young, inexperienced, nervous. Her hair tied in two long, heavy braided pigtails. She looks just about ready to burst into tears.

The mirror next to her shows you what you probably would've looked like if you went the entire watch-wearing dildo routine. Impeccable posture, long straight hair down to your ass, and a cold, emotionless countenance bereft of any glasses whatsoever. You immediately hate this reflection.

The third is...a ruined version of you. You're not sure if it's supposed to be you in the first place, what with all the fucking armor, and the metal shit all over its arms and legs that strongly remind you of an infamous Russian killing machine. Her hairstyle looks the same as yours, and her eyes the same violet with the pinprick of red as the pupils, and she has the same shield...but that's where the similarities end. For one thing, she's taller than you, and her face is scarred as shit. ...But good scars, though. Scars even the most hardcore Eversor would be proud of.

The fourth mirror is blank. Strangely so. It's not reflecting anything, not even when you wave to it.

"...Sloppy." The second reflection murmurs, her voice deadpan. Your voice, but not ruined by time, or by too much alcohol and cigarettes. "Fix your posture. Your slouching is unsightly."

"U-um, hello," The first tries, but after flinching from the second's comments. "M-Matsuda-san, right? I'm very pleased to meet you."

"..." The third merely glowers at you, frowning, not saying anything.

Well. Seems there's a freakshow in your Desert Eagle. Fantastic.

Right. They're...they're all you, somehow?

What the fuck. What the fuck is going on? Can somebody here just explain to you, clearly and concisely, for once in your fucking life, just what is going on?

Despite being your reflections, all three of the images react differently to your outburst. The first flinches, looking more and more close to tears with each passing moment. The second frowns here, crossing her arms under her chest, her - or your - purple eyes glaring daggers at you. The third simply smirks, her ragged cut of a mouth curling upwards ever so slightly in an unsightly sneer.

"Language, please." The second says after what seems like an eternity. "I realize that you're confused, but that is no reason to act in such an undignified manner."

"P-please don't shout," The first speaks, now, her voice tremulous. "We're...we're you! I know it's confusing, but we're you! Just...I guess..." She looks at the shield on her left arm, the metal disc pristine and unscarred - in contrast to the beaten, scarred one clamped onto your right. "...Not quite..."

"What she means to say, in her own stunted, stilting way, is that we are reflections of you. Inside this...vessel of souls." The second cuts in again, flipping her hair imperiously, hatefully. "I suppose I should at least be pleased that you didn't end up like this freak." She jerks her head towards the third reflection - netting her a wet leopard growl from in return. "And I suppose one of us has to assist you should you need it. Sometimes." Another flip of her hair. "When we feel like it."

Another growl, before the third reflection turns to you and gives you the smallest fraction of a nod.

Huh. Well. That's...something you should remember, then. Maybe you should write it down somewhere.

[1/2]
>>
>>29577715

You rummage inside your inventory, looking for a scrap of paper, and possibly a pen - when your hand clamps on something that feels like a small, slim hardbound book. You pull it out, blinking, and it's here that you see that you've pulled out the journal that Wendy left you in your dream, earlier.

It even has a small pen.

That's handy, you remark to yourself, before flipping to the very first blank page. A chair materializes behind you - black ebony in make, and looking very uncomfortable - and you sit down on it. Writing down what you've learned so far. About Risa, and about the reflections. And a bit about not challenging Sayaka to another fight again.

"Updated my journal," you murmur to yourself as you finish, before looking up again at the three reflections.

"At least this one seems to be learning, too." The second reflection remarks. The first smiles at this, clearly pleased. The third is indifferent, but she's looking at your journal with what looks like envy.

...Well, before everything else. Can you at least get their names? Because you'll be fucked if you keep referring to which reflection they are. And yes, you know they're you, but calling them your own name is going to get old real fast.

"Akemi Homura," The first says.

"Akemi Homura," The second replies.

". . ." The third adds.

Right. That's...yeah. That helps.

You add that to your journal, too. But not before popping two more painkillers, crunching them down noisily as you write.

Another question, then. Why's the fourth mirror blank?

"...Hnn. That's strange." The second Homura replies, turning to glance at the fourth. "We're all supposed to be in attendance, but...I suppose that one is either dead, or unable to join the communion."

The communion? So this is what this is?

[2/3]
>>
>>29577730

"More or less. Or at least, an incomplete one." The reflection smirks. "If it was complete, you'd be seeing a lot more mirrors than just four. But this will suffice for you." She sniffs, contemptuously.

A moment of silence, as the four of you just stare at each other.

"That ponytail." The second Homura says suddenly. "Are you trying to emulate Sakura Kyoko's style, or something? That looks completely idiotic. Take it off."

"I...I think it's cool," The first Homura cuts in hesitantly. "L-like a samurai...

The third merely nods again, but this time with a look of approval.

Yeah. This isn't going very well. But at least they haven't started driving you insane just yet.

How do you react?

What would make you ever think that way?
>>
>>29577763 >>29577780 >>29577812 >>29577832

Right. This isn't going to work. You'll have to assign nicknames to them.

"...Nicknames." The second Homura states, flatly. "Really."

Yes, really, you snap. For fuck's sake, you can't keep referring to them via mirror position or what. That's just too annoying.

You point at each of them in turn. The first one, with the braids, is called Braids. The second, the bitchiest so far, is Dildoes. The one with all the awesome armor and cut-up face is...Murderface, because honestly, she looks more like it than you do.

Again, you see the varying reactions of each of your reflections. Braids seems to be hiding a protest behind a nervous smile, Dildoes is frowning at you as hard as she can, and Murderface is...well, she's actually smiling, now. Granted, it's a shark's smile, one full of black, sharp teeth - but a smile nonetheless.

"Naturally, I refuse such an ugly, distasteful nickname." Dildoes says after a moment, her voice the frostiest it's ever been. "Call me by my proper name, at least--"

Dildoes. That's her proper name now, you say as you write it in your journal and underline it a couple of times. Now and forever, she will be referred to as such.

"But--"

Yeah, no. You're not interested. Now, can anyone tell you why you've forgotten so much shit? About yourself, about your past? Can anyone restore your memory?

Braids speaks up, here. "W-we should be able to. It's...it's a communion, right? That means we could--"

A growl, from Murderface, and you see her shake her head. She taps at the intact shield on her left arm, before pointing at your scarred one.

"O-oh..." Braids' hopeful expression falls. "I...I suppose we can't, really...but we can at least tell her, right?"

[1/2]
>>
>>29578632

"Remember what happened to the last one." Dildoes replies, reaching up with one hand to flip her hair again. You're starting to get annoyed at that. "Remember what she did? Put her own gun to her mouth and emptied her brains all over the place. Do you want that to happen, too?"

Braids shrinks back in her mirror, going pale. "N-no! I don't...I don't want that!"

"I suppose a verbal recounting would be in order. Although a heavily censored one, to make sure this one doesn't go crazy." Dildoes shrugs, but the little smirk on her lips tells you that she took pleasure in making Braids react like that. "We can answer her question at the very least. About her memory."

It's here that she turns to you. "Your real name is Akemi Homura. You are a Magical Girl."

And?

"...And you are our last hope in setting things right," Braid adds in, after she'd regained her composure. "Because...because we failed. We all failed."

Failed? Failed in what?

"This is going to take a while." Dildoes turns to Murderface. "For heaven's sake, this would be easier if you didn't screw up enough to be that way. At the very least you'd be able to tell her, instead of leaving it to me and...her."

Murderface merely growls at this, making Dildoes sigh.

"Very well, where do I start? I suppose the beginning should be good..."

And it's then that you learn about yourself. Your...past selves, more specifically.

How you were, in fact, a normal girl once. With a normal life. You had some heart problems then, requiring you to spend some time in a hospital. You transferred to Mitakihara, and met someone who would change your life forever.

Kaname Madoka.

She would rescue you, after your mindless stumbling into a Witch Barrier. An angel in a pink dress, swooping down to offer you salvation. You become fast friends. Best friends, in fact. Maybe something even more.

[2/3]
>>
>>29578434
What happened to Wendy and whats-her-name?
>>
>>29578645

But then fate strikes as Walpurgisnacht. She defeats it, but is killed herself. You didn't even get to say goodbye - all you find is her lifeless corpse, torn in half. The only mercy granted to her was that she died with a smile on her face, and not the expression of fear and despair that you would find familiar in your own reflection all too soon.

A contract made in haste. Giving you the power to rewind time, as much as you wished. Allowing you to try, again and again, to rescue her, to stop her from the cruel fate that she'd been cursed with.

But you kept failing. Every single time ended in complete and utter failure, no matter what you tried, no matter how hard you fought.

"...We broke at the ten thousand, nine hundred and forty-eighth attempt." Dildoes remarks here, her smirk gone, replaced by her businesslike emotionlessness. "But we kept trying, even then. Until one of us was broken enough that she did the impossible. The unthinkable."

And what's that?

"..." All three reflections fall silent at this, bowing their heads.

"It...it's probably better if we don't talk about it." Braids murmurs. "Let's...let's just say it was really bad."

"As for why you lost your memories..." Dildoes starts. "...that's easy enough to explain, along with that." She gestures towards your scarred Shield. "It's to remove you from the chain of failures. To make sure SHE doesn't use you as her pawn."

She? Who's she?

All three glance at each other. "The most broken one of us all," Dildoes replies finally. "The one who turned our ambition into ashes in our mouths. Who twisted our wish and broke every single promise we've made to everyone. Even to the blue-haired harridan."

[3/4]

Wendy and Haruka are on invisible layers. They're already done, I wanted to show them, but their placement is going to vary in the finished product so they're back to being invisible until I can place them right

"It's all her fault," Braids suddenly spits in an angry outburst. "It's all HER FAULT! I-i-if only she didn't become so SELFISH--"

"It's OUR fault." Dildoes shakes her head. "Any one of us would've done the same. It would've only been a matter of time."

Homura probably did multi-class into melee and some of that leaked through into the two times we tossed Sayaka around with a judo throw. Homura never took public speaking because she was too jacked up on PTSD.

Maybe if we could just unlock Homura's fighting skills without unlocking the rest of the memories which would result in leverage from HER...

possibly not.

We may not be the "original". I can't discount the shield being on the wrong side as meaning we might be a replacement.
>>
>>29578937
Because we are still sane. Sort of.
>>
>>29578976
and they're not?

I mean, I'm not discounting the possibility that being dead grants one a wonderfully uncluttered perspective.

[X] "So... this is why I'm not who I think I am?"
>>
>>29578973
We aren't a replacement
We are a reflection

The reason we are so broken while Homu was so together is the same reason
>>
>>29578760
>>29578885
Rebellion Story implied that Mumi is the second most powerful Meguca after Karma-Infused Meduca.
Its clear that Mumi only died in the original series because she underestimated Charlotte and Charlotte got her by surprise.
>>
>>29579015
Rebellion is a fanwack
>>
>>29578885

It had been my impression that that wasn't necessarily a certainty, it was just really likely.
>>
>>29579015
Charlotte was designed specifically to be anti-Mami monster. Mami relies on tying her enemies with ribbons, but Charlotte can shed skin, it's impossible to hold her down.
>>
>>29579015
>Rebellion Story implied that Mumi is the second most powerful Meguca after Karma-Infused Meduca.
How do you even quantify this in a setting where timestop is a thing? Haxx fucks with power ratings.
>>
>>29579015
it could also be because she was pretty worn down, fighting the good fight all alone.

The reason why Rebellion Mami is so together is because she has her friends.
>>
>>29579015

>Mumi is the second most powerful Meguca

Depends. If she knows about time-hax then she is the strongest one around. If she doesn't then homu is stronger.

Though I meant that more as in if she didn't have her hairpin there she would witch out and eat Madoka.
>>
>>29579014

Homura was one wrong word from Madoka away from a complete nervous breakdown. See: her shooting up Kyubey and bawling at Madoka. She was o la together on the surface.

Chiaki might be a lot of things but she's far more stable than a stalker with 900 years of obsession
>>
>>29579015
>Its clear that Mumi only died in the original series because
she was totally an incoherent wreck on the inside who only wanted a friend and because of her emotional securities she was actually pretty bad. Had she got over that issue she would have been the strongest but it took a mind going warping the world with its pure despair into a fluffy happy world and cheating witches that actually managed to help get Mami into a comfortable kickass state.

also stop not using spoilers goddamn some people haven't seen it
>>
>>29578668
>Even to the blue-haired harridan.
Sayaka, or someone outside of the usual frame of reference?
>>
>>29579052
I think Homura is considered to be the most powerful... if the others don't know about her Timestop.

Which is why she gets wrecked in Rebellion.

>>29579085
PROBABLY Sayaka.
>>
>>29579014
I mean, physically.

This is quite possibly not Homura's original body.

She honestly did pretty good for being a squishy fighter you could visibly tell during the fight that the mumi had to strain a bit during some parts. Problem is she can't keep it up like mumi can.

After the Siberia and Midori arcs, this may not even be Chiaki Matsuda's original body. I think we were kind of stitched back together from the bits and bobs left over from that fight in the barrier.
>>
>>29579052
In the movie both Sayaka and Mumi could keep/prevent Homu from using Timestop effectively.
>>
>>29579193

Though knowing about it and attacking/sneak attacking.
>>
>>29579193

Being aware of the limitations of her timestop makes it much easier to fight Homura so long as you can take her unaware.

Dildoes narrows her eyes at you, before shaking her head. "What's there to tell? She answers to the same name as all of us do." Another fucking hairflip, this one made with such flamboyance that you can't help but grit your teeth at it. "But we call her the Transcendent One, if you really need a name."

The Transcendent One? That's...unnecessarily flashy, yeah?

"It's what she became. Or what we became." The raven-haired girl lets out a sigh. You write that down in your journal as well, circling it a couple of times.

...Wait. Did this Transcendent One dress like a slut? Feathers, skimpy gown, that kind of slutty?

It's here that all three reflections glance at each other, then at you. "That...well, I wouldn't use the same words, but yes, that fits her." It's here that Dildoes' eyes go wide. "Has she manifested to you in any way or form? In your dreams, maybe? Because that should be impossible--"

No. You just saw her, during a seeing. You've also heard of her, but only through someone else's memories.

Dildoes and Braids visibly relax here, while Murderface remains impassive. "Good. That's good. She shouldn't be able to." The former gestures towards your Shield. "Otherwise, everything would've been for naught."

...Right. Well.

What about Kyoko? They mentioned something about her. This isn't the first time you've met her, is it?

"No, it's not." Dildoes shakes her head. "Although, I would definitely recommend not--"

"K-Kyoko-chan's good! She's a good friend! Please stay with her! Don't make her angry!" Braids suddenly cuts in, adamant. "Please! Whatever you do--"

"--Quiet." Dildoes snaps, icily. "You will have your turn. Let me talk to her first."

"B-but--" Braids glares at the other reflection, before bowing her head a few moments later. Effectively cowed.

"...Right. Now, before I was so rudely interrupted..." Dildoes shakes her head. "I would recommend not bothering with Sakura Kyoko, or Sayaka Miki, or even Tomoe Mami." It's here that she smirks. "They will die, one way or another, and there's nothing you can do to stop that. Just do what you're supposed to do, and finish it."

"N-no! That's cruel! They've always been there for us!" Braids tries again, unable to hold herself back any longer. "Everyone tried to help us in the end!"

"And we betrayed them. All of them." Dildoes counters calmly. "It's no use trying. We don't need to concern ourselves with riffraff."

Murderface merely shakes her head at this, raking a clawed hand through her ragged, matted hair.

...Wait. Wait. You're still trying to get all of this into your journal - for you to hopefully understand later - but couldn't you just rewind time, then? Back before all this started?

Silence, as both Dildoes and Braids stop in mid-argument, turning towards you with something approaching irritation.

"Well, that's a novel solution, isn't it?" Dildoes flips her hair - AGAIN - before crossing her arms under her chest. "It's not like we tried it ten thousand, nine hundred and forty-eight times already."

"I-it's not going to work! It's never going to work!" Braids is in tears now, clearly frustrated. "We made the wrong wish! It wasn't going to solve ANYTHING! What we need to do is to fix things, not make them worse!"

"Besides, you're no longer part of the chain, remember?" Dildoes points towards your Shield. "Whoever did that had the foresight to sever you from the rest of us and prevent another loop. This is clearly the last one." She smiles, hard and brittle. "One last chance to do what's right."

But in Chiaki's barrier, there were four fragments:

Moemura
Murderface (AKA Chiaki Matsuda)
Warped Fragment (armored)

and RibbonHomu.

We know that Moemura and Warped Fragment were killed during the fight with RibbonHomu, but were still subsumed to recreate a coherent psyche. RibbonHomu was also killed, but we don't know what happened to her. Since there's another fragment in the Deagle that isn't armored or Moemura, we can presume that RibbonHomu is none other than the Dildoes we see in the mirror.

Murderface/Matsuda is not present since she was chosen as the vessel that would bring the whole person together again.

THE NAMELESS ONE IS STARING DISAPPROVINGLY INTO YOUR SOUL
>>
>>29580199

No, no. I'm pretty sure it was Planescape Tournament.

It was competing neck-in-neck with Alan Wake III for a whole.
>>
>>29580222
Is he really named the Nameless One? Isn't that a contradiction?

It's here that you look up from your journal. They do know about Pinky, right?

"Pinky?" Dildoes' brow furrows, while Braids manages to stop sobbing enough to wipe her eyes, blow her nose, and blink at you through her tears. "I don't...we don't follow. Pinky, as in your little finger?"

No. Well, sort of. But it's a name you made up for the black-eyed girl who haunts you whenever you stop time with your shield. You call her pinky because of her costume, and her hair, and--

"No. No, no, no." Dildoes is the first to react, her eyes going wide, all color draining from her face. "No, no. That...that's not true. That can't be true." She looks wildly at the other two reflections, before sinking down to her knees, both hands grasping at the sides of her face. "This...this means we've lost. She's turned. We can't save her. We're too late. We were too slow to initiate the last sequence, now that she's turned--"

"NO!" Braids shouts, enough to stun Dildoes from her sudden trance. "W-we still have hope! We still have her! We can't give up now!"

"Don't you get it?!" Dildoes snarls, getting back up shakily to her feet. "We are FIVE minutes to midnight! Madoka can't be saved any more - she knows what we did, and she'll be spending the rest of eternity making sure we suffer for it! The only way we can put things right now...the only thing we can do is...!"

A sob tears itself from Dildoes' throat as she turns away, her icy countenance all but completely shattered, now.

What? You narrow your eyes here, and glance at Murderface. What are they fighting about? What the hell's going on? What's the only thing you can do, now?

+ KILL. + A jagged, rusty shiv of a pulse stabs itself into your mind, making you wince visibly at its migraine-sting. + KILL. MADOKA. +

[1/2]
>>
>>29580662

"It's the one last thing we can do to save her," Dildoes mutters bitterly through her own tears. "Her manifesting to you like that means...means we have to kill her to save her." She shakes her head. "Too much sin. Too much hate. Too much damage we've done to her soul and sanity already."

She turns to you. "Get the Golden Weapons. All of them. Use them to kill her, in the realm where gods and mortals meet." She taps at her Shield. "Only then you'll be able to save her."

You narrow your eyes at this. That doesn't sound much like saving someone. More like putting down a rabid dog.

"Do you think we WANT it to be this way?" Dildoes spits at you. "This is the only way to save her. We're not sacrificing this last timeline for our fool's errand." She shakes her head. "We...we need to let her rest. It's done. It's over. She's been corrupted." She manages a tremulous laugh, one laced thickly with defeat. "All...all those loops. Gone. For nothing."

You glance at the other reflections. Braids is silent, her head hung low, her shoulders shaking. She's probably crying again.

But Murderface...she's looking at you. Silently. As if trying to find some way to say something but, for some reason, can't.

+ NOT. ONLY. WAY. + The pulse finally finds it way back to you in a pain-filled stab. + FIND. GOLDEN WEAPONS. KILL. TRANSCENDENT ONE. +

"And HOW is that supposed to help?" Dildoes snarls. "Even if she manages to kill the Transcendent One, that still leaves Madoka! But even worse off than how she was back then! +

+ MUST. TRY. + Murderface growls at Dildoes. + MIGHT. WORK. +

How do you react?

Too bad we didn't get to talk to Midori about what happened at Siberia yet, since then we could mention there's still a sane version of Godoka out there that's separate from Pinky. It'll probably be good idea to mention it to them once Midori eventually tells us what happened back then, since that may be a game changer for them.

Or maybe I'm forgetting and chiaki already met her? I need to recheck the archives sometime.

There is not one, but TWO incomprehensible god-like entities who have flipped their shit and gone insane, one of them is inside my head and the other one is doing... something, not sure what, but the one inside my head created a bunch of weapons which make people go literally insane and trap souls inside themselves, and the only way to kill either god is to gather them all up and do... something, in a place as vague as 'the realm where gods and mortals meet'. And even then, there's still one insane god left hanging around, except now it's even more insane because we just killed the only thing keeping it in check?

I have three questions. First, why me? No, seriously, why the fuck? Second, where the hell does Malal fit in with this?

And third, WHY IN THE FUCK DID NOBODY THINK TO TELL ME THIS SOONER. It's like everyone has been conspiring to keep me in the dark for AS LONG AS FUCKING POSSIBLE by giving vague bullshit answers which don't make any sense without context! “Sayaka-chaaan~!” Mere moments after Miki Sayaka stepped into the crappy fast food joint a few blocks from her apartment, she was struck by a bullet of white, yellow, and pink-red, one that nuzzled into her neck not unlike a cat from the moment it connected. “Holy carp, I didn’t think you’d actually come!”

“Come on, have I ever stood you up before?” The blue-haired girl snickered, wedging her hands between the two of them to pry her friend off. “I’ve got a favor to ask, anyway.”

“…You can let go now,” she murmured after a few lengthy seconds with no luck. The little American didn’t look like much, but once and a while, her Eversor showed through. A moment later, a shiver down Sayaka’s spine as enthusiastic nuzzling turned to nibbling, and she tore the smaller girl away. “Christ, Amber, everyone’s staring!”

“Only ‘cause you started yelling, dummy.” It was a small relief, at least, that Amber was still Amber. Whatever she’d had to do since…whatever the hell happened, she had the same grin, the same playful glint in her yellow eyes. Sayaka worried about her. She really did. “And anyway, it wouldn’t be weird if you just let me come over to your place.”

“Come on, you know I can’t do that. Kyouko’d get the wrong idea. You’d GIVE her the wrong idea.”

“Well that’s just mean. I’ve got enough love for two! She can sleep at the foot of the-okay, okay.” Amber giggled, seemingly unfazed by Sayaka’s withering stare, and the two idled together among hushed whispers as they waited to order.

Ten minutes and a tray piled with an enormous amount of junk later, they sat in relative silence, neither quite sure how to bring up what they wanted to talk about. Deep, blue eyes met shining amber time and again, and Sayaka almost spoke, almost. It wasn’t supposed to be hard, or anything. She just needed to get her sword fixed. But that wasn’t what she was worried about, exactly, either.

“Hey, Amb…“ she finally began, only to be cut off by a few fries being delicately shoved into her open mouth.

“Gotcha~ So how’ve you been? How’s the Equerry thing going? Do you need me to kill her?” They’d talked about it a couple of times before. Well, Sayaka hadn’t really MEANT it that way. Maybe. Mostly. She didn’t want to have to mean it that way, and she didn’t really think Amber took her that seriously. “’Cause I’m gonna be honest, I have all kinds of pent-up frustrations, here. Like, wow.”

“I don’t-“ When the Equerry opened her mouth to reply, another fry slid into her mouth. “Quit it!” But even so, it was hard not to laugh. Amber was a pain in the ass, but…she was refreshing, too. A lot like Kyouko could be. “I don’t know. I mean, she’s getting…better? Since she got back from her…vacation, we’ve almost gotten along pretty well.”

“Aww, if I knew all it took to butter Sayaka-chan up was a promotion, I would have become a Warmaster years ago.” Amber leaned on the table, resting her head on one hand as she fed her lover(?).

“It’s not-“ Fry. “It’s not like that! She’s really been trying to clean up her act. I don’t really get it-“ Fry. “I don’t really get it, but-“

“I bet it’s for Fatty. And Miss Mammies.”

“Fatty? And don’t-“ Fry. “Don’t talk about Mami-san like that.” The blue-haired Eversor had more or less resigned herself to being fed at this point. Not like it was hurting anything – she knew Amber hadn’t tampered with these. Probably. It would have been hard.

“Green Fatty. The one she was makin’ out with.”

“Oh, Midori-chan. Yeah, maybe? She basically treats her like a body pillow, though.” Fry. “Something soft she can do whatever she-“ Fry. “-wants with, because they won’t stop her.”

“Ahaha, is that really her name? Omigod, that poor fatty.”

“Yeah, seriously…” The next fry she took slower, nibbled on in deep thought. “So how’re you doing in…uh…whatever it was?” Sayaka felt like she made a mistake the moment she’d said it – a shadow crossed Amber’s normally bright features, and though she sprung mostly back into place a second later, the very edge of it remained.

“Still crazy, still stupid. I’m running out of people to talk to, now all I can get from Sab and Wendy is like ‘bawww some animal died bawww my girlfriend bawww everything is the end of the world’, and Jade pretty much just follows Wendy around.”

Wendy. Wendy Wendy Wendy, again. Sayaka opened her mouth to-Fry.

“I still can’t tell you, Sayaka-chan. Yet. Maybe. That’s kind of what I wanted to talk about…” Her face fell, and the fries finally stopped. The little American cleared her throat and covered her mouth with her hands, forcing out a faux-trumpet fanfare.

“This is an invitation to Warmaster ‘Murderface’ Matsuda and her associates to formally discuss a temporary alliance with the Church of the Golden Land.”

“…What?” She nearly dropped the burger she was raising to her mouth.

“The Church of the Golden Land wants you.” Amber stood just enough to reach over and poke Sayaka in the chest. “There’s somebody that’s causing us and the Warmaster both trouble, so we figured we’d get your help. Maybe, you know…build up some trust between us.”

The Equerry knew it, looking into Amber Nakajima’s eyes. ‘Save me, Sayaka-chan’. That’s what Amber wanted to say. This was her chance to do something about all the vague…vague bullshit she’d been fed every time they’d met. Would have been better if she could just bust in somewhere and start cutting people apart, but-

“Sooo can you talk to her about it? And it’d be good if you came, too. And maybe Miss Mammies? But probably not Miss Mammies. It’ll be me, Wendy, Jade, and a few local reps. We’re not going to ask you to come unarmed or something, but, y’know. Maybe tell her not to start shooting people.” The American’s expression was cool (by her standards), her voice quiet.

“…When? We’ve got a mission soon, but…”

“Get ahold of me when you’re done and we’ll set up a time, mmkay?” She relaxed back into her seat and unwrapped a burger, as though nothing at all were wrong.

“You did WHAT to her? What…how? I know she’s pretty hard on herself…” While the rest of lunch had been kind of awkward, the favor Sayaka had to ask seemed to kick things back into a normal pace for the two of them. Amber clutched, as she put it, the broken remains of Blueberry Cheesecake Brownie, the faintest vestiges of tears in her eyes.

“…I broke her in a fight with Murderface.”

“The crap did she use? A black hole? Some kinda super-laser? The power of friendship?” Amber squeaked as she ran her fingers over the blade, then hugged it close. “Poor baby…”

Sayaka scratched at the back of her neck.

“She was using Kharn’s old weapons. The gold ones.”

“…Ah. Yeah, I guess those are pretty hardcore.” A moment of silence passed between them. “So how bad did you beat her? Pretty bad, I bet. For hurting my baby.”

“… …Y…yeah. …I beat her…pretty bad.” Sayaka stared at the ground, mumbling out her half-assed lie. She squeezed her eyes shut when Amber started to laugh.

“You lost to a Vindicare, didn’t you? You got beat by a Vindicare! Oh crackers! Wow. Just…just wow.” It was all Amber could do, really, to not cry as laughter overtook her.

“She got a lucky punch! She was still juiced up by the fucking golden axes!” The Equerry snarled as she tried to preserve the pride she had left.

“It’s-it’s okay, Sayaka-chan! I still love you! But, um, I’ll be the husband, okay? You can…you can stay home and raise the ki-hi-hi-hids-!” Another peal of laughter overtook her, nearly sending her sprawling on the ground. “Oh man I’m gonna pee myself…!”

“Just fix the fucking sword, Amber. I need it for the mission.”

“Hee, yeah…yeah, okay…yeah…Mmm.” The redhead wiped a tear away from her eye. “I need to borrow a lab, though. Could you get me in?”

“…Sure. I’ll make up a reason. I’ll just…tell them you’re a consultant, or something.” She let out a small noise as Amber’s arms squeezed tight around her again, sword still clutched in one hand. …She didn’t try to push her away this time. This time, she held her close, just for a minute, and ran her fingers through silky red hair.

“…Hey, Amber. I’ll…I’ll get you out of there, okay? Don’t worry.”

“I was never worried, Sayaka-chan. You’re my hero, y’know.” It felt like a long time for both of them, and even then, it wasn’t nearly long enough. At least, for Amber. Sayaka already felt bad for doing THIS much, but the American’s smile made it worth it. It wasn’t wide, joyful, or exaggerated, like usual. If Sayaka didn’t know her as well as she did, she might have nearly missed it entirely.

Just a soft curve or her lips and a small light in her eye, then a gentle kiss on Sayaka’s cheek. For a moment, there were no masks or pretenses between them. And then, though it was only briefly there, it was gone, shattered by a bark and a sharp salute.

“Sayaka-chan! No witnesses!”

“And no discounts.” Sayaka returned her salute, less enthusiastic but no less crisp.

She’d get her in the R&D lab as soon as she could. And if she could talk Murderface’s dumb ass into it, maybe she could finally make good on her promise.

Maybe she really could save her.

Chiaki gets to KNOW things. Knowledge is literally the only thing that can save her here. esus christ, the suggestion alone of withholding info is insane because it cripples Chiaki in turn. The entire goddamn quest we've been fighing against the ignorance that was forced on Chiaki by fucking everyone and every circumstance and now you'd just allow for there to be angles left unexplored? Seriously?

Because our conversation time is finite and we shouldn't bog down every conversation with every character we encounter by giving full disclosure about everything ever. There's nothing wrong with telling the truth, our problem has always been excessive candor.

U wot? This is brainspace, there is no finite time here. Did you notice how a few posts up the Homuras explained their entire backstory, the happenings of PMMM, just like that? THis is exposition time and it will be had.

Thanks again for running, Decu!

So... Say, hypothetically, we had a bunch of story and character ideas - mostly finished already - for the setting, but didn't know where they fit - such as which officio to stick them in. How would somebody go about working that out with you?

exposition doesn't have to be two way.

It would be smart to play the same game back.

Will Chiaki be able to ask Mami or QB about the Ninth's current Grief Seed reserves and our current projected consumption rate versus projected harvesting rates?

Does the Ninth harvest all of their own Grief Seeds, do we buy part of our stocks from other Officio's, or do we even sell Seeds to other Officio's?

Yeah, I've really gotten out of the habit and I need to quit. Wendy's got a lot I'll start into when the CHURCH (it's not a cult okay) arc starts properly.

Also kicking around another narrator (pictured) so I can go into the Eighth at present, since Wendy's pretty far-removed from it right now.

They don't want to tell Chiaki everything because they think she'd go insane and kill herself over the things they would tell her. Sharing the state she is in and the things she has experienced and knows can only convince them to share more of what they know. They quite obviously have no idea of the outside situation, I wonder if these chicks even know what an officio is.
>>
>>29581377

Usually an hour or so before thread time!

>>29581423

Of course!

I will say now that the Ninth does buy from other Officios, mostly from the Second. Sometimes the Ninth does supply to other Officios when there's too much of it.

Grief Seeds are a moving resource in MGNQ!

Which Officio's have the highest contentment rates among their Magical Girls?
Who has the happiest girls, versus most number of contented girls?
>>
>>29581331
I'm sure Chiaki Matsuda can spend years catching up with herself in golden weapon dreamtime, but I don't want the conversation to drag along for years of real time. We only get six or seven (?) prompts per thread, and eventually Deculture will plot contrivance this conversation to a halt, so I'd rather we spend our remaining time focusing on immediate concerns rather than contuing down the path of mutual exposition storytime.
>>
>>29581458
>I wonder if these chicks even know what an officio is.
Murderface should, because she's a Homura from an Officio-timeline where the Procedure didn't work as well, and she killed Kharn and everyone else in the Officio.
She's a Chiaki that messed up worse than the current Chiaki.
>>
>>29581331
He more probably meant real life thread time. We already have a huge laundry list of background things we should do, like >>29581106, that we will never get around to doing just because we only have a limited amount of time to do stuff each thread.

I mean, we got back from Siberia sometime in may last year and the arc ended in october-ish, and that was only a span of a few days ingame.
>>
>>29581510
Things were different back then. Pinky didn't exist back then.
>>
>>29581458
>implying Dildoes wasn't the one who created the Officio system in an earlier loop. She seems the type.

OK, let me drop this science on your assembled wisdom. How EXACTLY do you think those two are going to react to the just how badly YET ANOTHER Madoka fucked herself to save the universe they screwed up?

This is shit you do not need to burden them with.
>>
>>29581462
Anything you care to share about Shock Cocoon?
>>
>>29581273
Amber's an Eversor?
>>
>>29581526
They had their tries, they already know the stakes. And what is one more madoka among more than ten thousand? Deal with it, Chiaki sure does and she'll pull this straight again. For that, she needs answers. Plus, there can't be proper golden weapon synergy when the wielder and the occupant don't trust and confide in each other. That much should be possible.
>>
>>29581574
>what is one more madoka among more than ten thousand?
except it's not.

It's one Madoka ten thousand times.

Kaneda is a whole 'nother Madoka.
>>
>>29581600
>Kaneda is a whole 'nother Madoka.
We either owe that girl a drink or a kick in the cunt.

possibly both
>>
>>29581527

It's sci-fi psychological horror with a Ufology slant to it. Aliens and stuff. The main story as I was given it is pretty harrowing stuff, in the vein of Nitroplus games. I hope to at least be able to deliver that kind of horror in my writing, hahaha!

>>29581490

Hmm, it depends! Usually the Eighth has the highest contentment rates, though, next to the Ninth.

Happiest girls...not too sure, but the Fourth is generally happy if they're building stuff and augmenting the crap out of everything!
>>
>>29581574
It would probably be a bit different because they said this is the final and permanent loop, so they can't just undo it and forget about it like all the other times. So it would be a final 'fuck you' to them when they realize the last madoka is gone.
>>
>>29581569
A lot of the upper-end Eighth is trained to be competent/excel in multiple roles; Amber's probably the closest thing they have to a Venenum rank leader, but she's also on the predominantly-Eversor special squad. The Eighth's Venenum corps as a whole (the Meat Wagon Squad) is trained for battle medic duty more than research and development purposes, though.

The previous Venenum rank leader was Dahlia Marigold, for the record.
>>
>>29581636
>Usually the Eighth has the highest contentment rates
Is that related to the insanity of their Magical Girls?
Or does Eight-Ball just have a really, really good benefits package?
>>
>>29581662
it's better than that. They've lost two of them this loop. Pinky AND Kaneda.

We're still missing gaps. Big gaps.

Really, all we've learned is stuff that was basically meta knowledge we all sort of knew anyway. Everything unique to this loop is still a mystery.

>>
>>29581771
When will we get a chance for Chiaki to pick up a makeup kit, a comb, and some high-end shampoo, conditioner, and exfoliant?

Because if even KHARN primped herself, there's no excuse for Chiaki Matsuda to not look her best in public.
>>
>>29581843
well, if the writeup is anything to go by, it seems like the time for Chiaki's departure from Warmastership is approaching quickly
>>
>>29581771
When do you think we are going to get around to Midori telling us the full picture of what happened in Siberia thread-wise? Feels like knowing that Godoka exists separate from Pinky will be really useful info to have after the convo we just had with the fragments.

Also how long do you think the next mission is going to take? I really wanna see that cult arc since sounds fun, but I don't think I can wait another year at the pace we are going.

>>
>>29582110
Do you think the Chuch would be quite so quick to make that offer if Sayaka was the Warmaster?

I wonder.
>>
Calling it right now.

Next shitstorm is whether we bring Midori with us for the cult arc.
>>
>>29582122

Sayaka making assumptions about Chiaki is pretty much her MO, If you haven't noticed. The only time Sayaka has seen us with Midori is at the housewarming party so anything else she thinks she knows is secondhand info from Kyouko and her own assumptions.

To be fair, she's partially right. Chiaki has, so far, doted on Midori, but more than that she treats her as someone she can trust implicitly.

Also, my meeting is over, I caught up with the thread.

Hello.

Oh, I know. It's absolutely Sayaka.
>>
>>29582246
However, as a Callidus, she's very good as a scout, and we need to see if she can make silent takedowns by sneaking up on a Magical Girl, swiping their Soul Gem and putting it into her Inventory.

Though I suppose that Oriko's prescience would make Midori's illusion powers moot.

So, have her do information analysis by going back through Officio records to recreate Chiaki's personnel file and find out what Malal redacted?
>>
>>29582312
that was the plan. By her own admission, Midori isn't much of a ninja, and our social circle among the Killers has a severe lack of people with her information processing talents.

Haruka Amane, Vanus, comes up a lot. It isn't explicitly stated, but through her actions some of what Vanus girls do comes up: she analyzes, plans, and organizes; however, she does not lead
>>
>>29583048
She's a Vanus? I thought that Haruka was Culexus.

>>
>>29581693

Didn't Malal have a golden bow? Couldn't she still be in that?
>>
>>29583180
Malal's bow wasn't ever referred to as Golden, so we're assuming it was just the regular Madoka bow. It seemed to hurt her to use it, but that may be a side effect of a Culexus trying to use their innate magic despite their own personal fields.
