Bit late, sorry about that.

So, to recap, you are Jim Clarks. You came to Rapture under the story of being extradited from your country and sold your services as a PI to whoever needed them. Anyone suspicious might think you had a shadier motive, like spying for the American Government, but that'd be crazy. Right?

Yesterday, you woke up on the floor in your ruined apartment and realised you'd been robbed. Hitting yourself with your first plasmid (Electro Bolt) and grabbing your trusty revolver, the Hand Canon, you headed out after the looters. Before you could really get after them, you investigated a scream and met James Gallagher, an English teacher who came to your district in search of his sister but found that her house had been ransacked.

After seeing off a few splicers, executing one of them, the two of you agreed to follow the looters together and eventually found that they had left for Neptune's Bounty, the docks and working district of Rapture, as well as the domain of Rapture's kingpin of crime, Frank Fontaine. James revealed that his sister is likely one of the looters, as she is heavily addicted to Adam.

Arriving in the Bounty, you found it to be in a bad state. Bodies litter the floor and strange slogans have been scrawled on the walls in blood. Looking around, you see that there are few clues as to where the looters might have gone. Maybe you'll have to ask someone. Two passages leave the area, one large and spacious that goes right and a smaller, dirtier one that snakes left.

>Ammo: 35 round for the Canon

Why the teenage sarcasm, OP? And why would anyone think that the US has never had any spies?
>>
>>29412482
It was suggested by anons in the last thread during a lull and they wanted to play it ambiguously. So I was trying to leave it open.

Can we read them? Reading is fun.

Er, are you calling it the "Hand Canon" on purpose or just misspelling "Cannon"?
>>
>>29412579
It was supposed to be a set up for a joke about the authorities in Rapture actually, but I forgot to make it in the first episode. Dammit. Maybe I'll get back to it later.

Deciding that the dark and the dirt are more your thing, you move towards the left one. James follows, carefully wiping the vomit from the corners of his mouth with a cloth handkerchief. Seriously, was this guy for real? Better keep a close eye on him if he’s supposed to get through this alive. And he’s going to need a weapon, ‘cause that plasmid ain’t gonna last forever.

The tunnel twists and turns a little before levelling out into much wider area. This seems to be some sort of unloading area, judging from the stacks of crates and equipment lying scattered across the place. At the far end of the room, some forty metres away, a way out is clearly evident. Before you can go that way, a hiss heralds you from a little way from the left. Looking over, you see a bearded man with a shotgun beckoning to you. While the gun isn’t pointing at you, it’s clearly ready for business. You carefully go to him to hear what he had to say as you spot two more men standing high up on the stacks.

“You two, you know how to fight and wanna earn some Adam? We’re gonna bring down one of them Big Daddies with an ambush and get to the little one. You in? If not, get tha fuck outta here!”

>How do you respond?
>>
>>29412705

Bleh, back. Computer had a moment of weakness and died on me. Really sorry about that, back properly.

You want to try and find the daddy to alert it? It's fairly common knowledge in Rapture that Big Daddies have very little sentience and that sisters are too mad to listen.

>>29413588
You don't know but the most common type are Bouncers.
>>
>>29414027
Nah, let's go check out if those bodies have anything of value on them first. Then we can go back and watch the fight.
>>
>>29414027
Check bodies.
Then see the fights result
>>
”I think we’ll leave the big guy to you, friend. I wouldn’t tackle one of those things if you paid me and harassing little girls ain’t my style. Be seeing you, maybe” You say, before turning on your heel and marching straight back towards the Bathospehere. Let them try and kill the brute, you’ve just had a thought. Maybe one of the bodies at the entrance had a weapon on it that could be repossessed by James.

When you reach the place, things are pretty much as you left them, though there seem to be a few more bodies. That’s disturbing. Maybe they’re dragged here after they die as a warning. Either way, you begin to look through the collection for anything that might give James a bit more bite. A couple of knives turn up and a strange hook you think is used in gutting fish, but no guns. Looks like whoever killed them wasn’t stupid enough to leave them with their weapons. On the other hand, a knife is much more useful than fists even in the hands of an English teacher. The two of you then settle down and wait. The way you see it, that big daddy is going to kill all the guys waiting for it and leave them there. Then there’ll definitely be a few weapons going begging, ‘cause daddies don’t loot. All you have to do is wait.

And wait you do, for almost an hour. Nothing stirs in the chamber and no more bodies are brought. In fact, nothing moves except for James’s nervous fingers and the tips of your various cigarettes, lit one after another. Stakeouts are not unfamiliar to you but James is starting to get pretty jumpy. Maybe it’s time to-

>AARRRRRGGHHHH!

The sound tears through the air, unmistakeably a scream of pain. The ambush must have started then. You beckon to James and start moving towards the battle scene. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to watch how the daddies fight.

>Damn, forgot the image.

When you get there, it’s clear this ambush didn’t go as planned. There are three dead men on the floor and another with the daddy’s drill stuck through his torso. A bouncer then. You’ve heard of these drill wielding behemoths, adapted from deep sea repairmen. The screaming of the fourth man is silenced by the daddy tearing him into two pieces. Damn, that thing was a monster. No wonder there was so much uproar when Ryan introduced them. But everything hasn’t gone the daddy’s way either. Steam pours from a rent in the pipes o one arm and the glass of the helmet is cracked.

Looking up, you see that there are two men left on a raised platform, one of them being the bearded man who tried to recruit you earlier. The other has a harpoon gun braced against his shoulder and is taking aim. You note that the cord attached to the harpoon is looped through an iron hoop on the ceiling and also tied to several of the huge crates, which are precariously balanced on the edge of the platform. Clever.

Seems unsporting to shoot at an opponent with nothing but a drill though. Maybe you ought to make things a little more even. You draw the Canon and take aim for a second before firing. The bullet blows through the cord and puts a hole in the wall behind them, making them both jump like frightened rabbits. Hah, pretty smooth, you think. Of course, you probably should have done something about the harpoon as well. Unfortunately you only think of this when the man aims it at you and by then it’s a bit late. The spear flies through the air and slams into your shoulder, sending you stumbling backwards. Ruins your jacket too but that doesn’t seem as important right then.

You crash into the wall and look bemusedly at the ruin of your shoulder, before realising they’ve probably got more spears and definitely have a shotgun. You roar at James to get you into cover, which shakes him from his reverie. He manages to pull you sideways behind one of the huge crates that fill this room. Sticking your head around the corner, you see that they’ve already forgotten you. The daddy still hasn’t noticed them and their retying the rope to a different harpoon, ready to continue their plan. As you watch, the big daddy finally sees them and steps protectively in front of the sister. Except she isn’t the target.

The new harpoon hits him in the chest and punhes clean through the tired skin of his diver suit. If what you’ve heard is true, daddy’s suits are like their skin so the roar it gives off is probably one of agony not rage. Then things stop going to plan for the splicers. Before they can push the crates off the ledge, the daddy grabs hold of the rope and starts to pull. The brute’s massive strength makes the rope strain and the ring in the ceiling wobble in its foundations. Both men are now heaving against the boxes, trying to get them to provide a counter weight to the mighty bouncer.

“Roast them alive!” You call the James as you push yourself upright. They’ll pay for making you look like some sort of endangered species, oh yes. You won’t be able to aim for shit with your right arm but your left is okay and just so happens to have lightning flowing through it. Pointing it roughly the direction of the two men, you send a bolt their way which... hits the old man square in the chest. Better yet, it causes him to spasm and discharge his gun into the leg of the other man. Both of them go down as James sends a handful of flame straight at them, setting them alight as they fall. The older man burns without stirring but the one who shot you screams and falls from the platform to the floor below. He lands in front of the big daddy, who stamps his torso into a bloody, smouldering paste. That couldn’t have gone better if you’d planned it. Well, apart from the harpoon.

Speaking of your new appendage, it really hurts. You slide down to the floor again and mutter to James to find a med pack or something. He nods and scurries off towards the bodies, careful to skirt the sister. Through the haze of pain, you watch the bouncer tear the harpoon from its chest and roar a bit more at the pain. Then, disturbingly, it begins to walk slowly towards you. You feebly shuffle away but its huge lumbering steps bring it to you in a few moments. Then it reaches down and takes hold of the harpoon in your chest with its free hand. It tilts its masked head to one side and makes an inquisitive sound. After a few seconds, you work it out; it wants to know if it should pull your harpoon out as well.

Well James won’t be able to get the damn thing out. You grit your teeth and nod. Putting the tip of the bloody drill against your shoulder for leverage, the monster rips it out of you with a swift tug. A new supernova of pain flares in the wound as the muscles shred and the skin is sundered once more. It tears a scream from your mouth and a fair bit of blood from your shoulder as well, but on the whole it could have been worse. After dropping the harpoon, the bouncer wanders off again to follow the calls of “Come on mister bubbles” coming from the little sister. The daddies might be towers of brute force and lethal power but it’s the sisters that are really creepy.

James comes back with a small box containing, among other things, painkillers and an aid to accelerated flesh regeneration. As he carefully measures out the dosage (you don’t tell him you’d happily guzzle down all the pills in Rapture right now), you think about what just happened. Seems the big ugly brutes recognise when someone helps them and aren’t completely averse to helping back. Good to know, though next time you hope it’s much less painful help. The pills push the pain to back of your head and make it a dull aches, not an all encompassing buzz. So that’s nice. James also found a handgun on one of the bodies, as well as the harpoon gun and three spears. The shotgun is still high above on the platform. Maybe you could get there but it’d be a hell of a lot of work. The exit to this room seems very inviting, particularly as the sister went the other way, from whence you came.

>What now, brave adventurer?

I had a really bad feeling about this, but then I read the rest of the post.

The platform's too high for that, but you could send James to climb up via the towers of crates. Hell you could go yourself but it's be seriously painful. The boxes might fall on you or you might fall, so it is a risk.
>>
>>29416212

That's what we're voting for, yeah; into the Bounty. You did say before:

>The exit to this room seems very inviting, particularly as the sister went the other way, from whence you came.
>>
>>29416545
sounds good to me.
>>
The two of you walk out of the exit and deeper into the Bounty, you hobbling and James examining his new weapon. You told him roughly what it does, but he can find out the finer details some other time. There were only a dozen shots in the magazine and no more on the body so there’s none to spare for target practise. On the plus side, you recovered $20 dollars in total from the bodies and have the harpoon launcher strapped to your back, putting you ahead on this little venture. Apart from the hole in your shoulder. And the pain pumping through your brain. So maybe not far ahead.

After a little while walking, you come to a new room, far larger than the last. Scores of metal doors lead away from this one, each with a little plaque on them with a name and number. You realise this must be the equivalent of a street of houses here in the Bounty. No wonder they started rioting here first, this places is cheerless and dank. Several fires have been lit in trash cans here and there and a few people stand around them talking. Most go silent when they see you or turn their backs. You’re clearly a fighter and not one from this district. No-one wants trouble, it seems. Perhaps you should organise some lodgings for the night, as you haven’t slept for almost a day.

Approaching the nearest group of people, you ask them about lodgings with you best ‘non-threatening’ face on. One of the tired looking women says she has a spare room with one bed and an armchair, so you’d have to either share or one of you sleep upright in the chair, but that it’s a locked door between you and Rapture and she’ll throw breakfast in as well for $10. A man steps up from the other side, saying he runs a boarding house and will give you a room each and food for $8. His clothes have the look of forgotten grandeur now spoiled by moths and damp conditions, but his teeth are still suspiciously white under his greasy mustache.

The man looks not the least bit disheartened when you indicate you’ll be taking the lady up on her offer, though his pearly teeth do gnash together. He watches as you and James are lead to one of the metal doors and allowed to enter the women’s domicile. She shows you to the room and James generously gives you the bed, sighting that you are the wounded soldier, not him. He pushes the armchair up against the door and settles down. You pull off the damaged coat and crawl into the bed, taking care of your damaged shoulder. The Canon is under your pillow though.
