You fought him in the center of the territory, with the help of an old man who smells of goats and a strange spirit. Both are gone now, and Hasdrubal remains.You escaped from that fight fully expecting him to follow you relentlessly as he had. But he stayed behind. You tried to venture out from the territory, but the mountains proved perplexing and impassable, and the prey grew thinner and thinner. Hunger drove you back to the center of the territory where the meat was fresh. Ever since the death of the man who smelled of goats, you’ve been finding the same kind of goats that Schatten killed farther and farther away from the joining of the streams. They made for easy prey.And let you keep an eye on the human. He stayed at the stone outcropping, watching it. You have no doubt that he could have followed your trail and likely still can, but something has been keeping his attention.The territory of a five, four now, wolf pack can only be so large though. I don’t intend on dropping Wolf Quest just because a few people decided to throw a tantrum. I recognize the crits were a problem, that is why I’ve been discussing it for the last few threads and finally settled on the “1’s don’t trump” adjustment. If it proves insufficient, I’ll switch to d60 and triple the modifiers. I'll also probably add Mental Exertion (5/day prevent crits from turning off legends). As for the lack of strategy, you’ll have to have faith. I’m not normally going to tell you ‘X was a good idea’ or ‘Y would have been better’. What happens happens, you should get no more information than that. It’s a big and scary world out there, and you’re just a wolf. You’re a big wolf with some wits about you, but you’re just an animal at the moment. You’re not going to notice everything, you’re not going to enact complex plans. Your abilities are Fight and Flight for a reason. And I certainly do adjust the flow of battle and adjust the options you’re given, and how the enemy reacts, based on the choices you make beyond Fight/Flight. However, the illusion of no agency was unknown to me. Until the protracted fight with Hasdrubal, the feedback that I was getting was that the choices seemed immensely difficult and important, that I was doing a good job with them.

>>29381726I am not completely sure what it was, but my theory is that Seraph was a wind spirit, believed to be held to this world by that shrine, and since it was believed to be held there once the shrine was destroyed Seraph died with it.The druid tending the shrine was not a legend, just a follower of some kind, empowered by Seraph and maybe charged with protecting the shrine.I also noticed when both Treebark and Seraph died we gained a spark to reignite their legends within ourselves, leading me to believe it is possible to gain another's legend when they die.Do not know if this would allow us to take a legend that does not fit very well, such as Haldrubal's, but Seraphs was possible so maybe anything is. Schatten's legend could be interesting to take...Perhaps the legend itself is a spirit created by humanity's belief, and looks for a new host once the current one dies? No idea.

So assuming we somehow manage to cripple Hasdrubal by destroying his spear and/or bow and he does not flee, do we have any preference for where and when we should fight him?At night perhaps, we could probably get him to follow us to a battleground of our choosing, but where?And if we manage to kill him and survive ourselves, what about Schatten? Should we dethrone him or remove him permanently? Throwing the corpse of Hasdrubal at his feet could maybe be a peace treaty, at least until the next legendary hero comes after us. Or maybe just proof to the pack that we are stronger than him, allowing us to win them over without a fight.
Is this guy still immortal? Let's just run away.

The only reason the pack had difficulty in his first encounter was because of his dogs, we killed all 3 of them at the cost of one of us.If we remove his spear taking him on mono e mono is not out of the question, toss in Schatten plus three others and things start to weigh very heavily in our favor.Problem is Schatten understands Hasdrubal only has beef with us, for now. So we either need to convince him otherwise somehow, make Hasdrubal also his problem, or simply muscle him out of his position and take control ourselves.

Packs will occasionally have a tag-along/loner type that is not accepted but carefully watched by a pack's Alpha, from what I've read usually done when a member has a falling out from a group or a new one wants to come in. The Alpha will eventually, after a few weeks to a month or longer, push the other out.If we're pushed out, and Schatten doesn't seem to relent or be 'on our side', it may be a good idea to go after him then. The rest of the pack probably wouldn't intervene if you were going to take over as alpha.

I would like to see something added where we can roll a few die at the beginning of the game, and choose to use them or not for later die rolls. If we don't use them, we can't roll in the next quest.. if we do, then there's no penalty. It's just something to help with our absolutely shitty rolls.And something put in place where if you just barely fail the roll, you can't use the die. They're meant to be in reserve for if you almost fucking die, or something.
