The Beijing Daixing International Airport is the busiest, largest airport in Asia. Having been completed in 2020, two years behind the original schedule, it is also rumored to be the only international airport in the world doubling as a mass grave for those responsible for the delays.

It is a massive structure about 20km south of Tiananmen square, covering an area of over 2680 hectares, with public buses and rails leading to and from the city important spots.

For the first time in a long while, noone is expecting you, and you arrive as a regular passenger (albeit in a first class ticket), finding yourself at the northern entrance of the airport with your bags.

According to your assistant's research, miss Tsun lives in Tianjin, a massive metropolis to the southwest of Beijin (albeit both cities are large enough to border against eachother).

Thankfully, you are fluent in the local language, and have no trouble securing a taxi to the train station, then boarding the fast train towards your destination.

He explains this while you both sip coffee in what must be the worst-placed coffee shop in the world, right in a small island in the middle of traffic in one of the world's most populous and busy metropolis, ever. You can barely hear eachother over the traffic, yet it looks like a extremely popular place for young people.

Orphanage 899 is a old building in the less beautiful area of town. The progress you saw everywhere else seems to have skipped this area of town completely, yet you see no despair or worry on the people of the area.

In fact, the deeper you go into the area, the more cheerful and lively it seems. Orphanage 899 is the most beautiful horrible building in the world.

Basically a block of concrete with no painting on it and a white sign with its number on the main entrance, it barely has any windows, the windows have no glass, and it sits in the middle of an empty lot with no electricity even as the street lamps begin lightning up as nightfall approaches.

The empty lot is covered in grass and flowers, with a small orchard of young, small trees near the back. The horrible building is covered in colorful crayon drawings, and you can see a line of people waiting in line for what you guess must be a bowl of soup or some other delicious, mouth watering gruel inside the orphanage.

About half a dozen children, wearing huge state-issued shirts as their only clothing, chase a ball made of dirty rags over the grass. A small child stares at you from the moment you step down from the car in your hundred thousand dollars suit. She is standing barefoot on the sidewalk, dressed in a large "899" shirt that covers her down to her ankles, holding a wooden doll with no features. The shirt is spotless and glaring white. She looks well fed, clean, and her hair is cared for in a playful, soft fluffy ponytail behind her.

Everyone looks well fed, optimistic, and calm or, rather, in a blissful mood.

Child: "Mister, are you guv-er-men?"

The way the people in line stare daggers at you sends a shiver down your spine you hadnt feeling even when dealing with worldwide business sharks

The child is amazingly well behaved. She thanksyou very politely and goes off to share her treat with her friends.

Walking into the building, you find miss Tsun. At barely 20 years of age, miss Tsun rates a very high 14 on a 1-to-10 "classical beauty" scale. Her figure is heavenly, but it is the way she seems to light up the room (and you could swear you can see a rainbow pouring into the room through a glass of water on the window edge near her), and people just seems to cheer up as they talk to her.

Mako: "It is a pleasure to meet you. Could you please wait a little, mister Salter? We are not done with dinner time, yet"

Once everyone is gone, Mako starts talking with you while taking care of the children, together with two more staff members.

As it turns out, she grew up in 899. Her short lived fame was enough to secure her a spot in China's all-time most beloved stars, and she continues to use her reputation to appeal to business figures, usually by scorting them to public events so they can show up with a beautiful girl while showing off how much they care about social causes.

She gets a small amount of money for such things, which she has steadily used to improve conditions on the city's orphanages. Children now have clean beds with fresh sheets, the orphanages have running water and sanitation, and double as community centers for the areas that surround them.

Mako: "I thank you for coming all this way, mister Salter, but I am needed here. Ming Hua's birthday is coming, and I promised to bake her a cake, with strawberries."

...I am seriously considering we just suggest we take all the 899 kids with us when she's on tour and hire enough tutors and staff (including a good nutritionist) to handle it. But China would never let its dirty laundry be aired so publicly so that's a dead end.

We need some way to assure her that she will still be in direct contact with the kids and making a positive influence on their daily lives. And we need a way to clearly demonstrate that we can help her help not only these most desperate children of her city, but of all China and, with a little luck and elbow grease, she might just be able to effect change for the better on a global scale. We aren't going to try bribing her with fame or fortune, but instead with access to the people she needs to convince in order to effect change and with the resources to do so much more on her own. And while that will require her to spend a lot of time away from her beloved children, we are not going to deny her access to them and should be able to negotiate a tour schedule that will bring her back through China relatively frequently, so it won't just be holo phone calls she's sharing with her beloved children.

Mako is as delightful a company as you could hope for. She has a innocent, wide-eyed attitude about nearly everything, and her presence seems to calm and cheer everyone up.
In the lower decks, not a single baby cried through the whole China-India flight.

Mako: "I had never seen so many trees!" -she comments as she looks out the window.

Stella's reforestation program has been running for three years now, and thousands of people continue planting a tree every day around the capital. The weather has changed, returning to a set of more natural temperature and humidity conditions, with pollution now being 20% lower than it was 5 years ago despite the lack of any government programs to even pretend they give a fuck about pollution.

Ned: "Let's go to the hotel first, then I'll introduce you to my assistant, and she will arrange a meeting between us and miss Crownguard"

The girl nods. You pull off a little bit of silky soft black hair that had cascaded over her face, causing her to blush and sink a little into her seat.

Aritsu appears standing up in the middle of the room, making the exploitative and sexist XWF secretarial uniform look like the peak of professional wardrobes without losing a iota of its intended effect.

Aritsu: "Boss? how was your flight."

Ned: "It was very enjoyable, thank you Ritsu. Anything urgent?"

Aritsu: "Urgent... nothing. I have a lot of news, but they are all good news, sir."

Ned: "Mako, please come stand next to me so Aritsu can see you. Ritsu, this is miss Tsun. She will be one of our lead voices"

Aritsu: "It is a pleasure to meet you, miss Tsun." -in chinese-

Mako: "O-oh! Nice meeting you!"

Aritsu speaks in chinese for the rest of the conference. She arranges a meeting with Stella for tomorrow at 10 am, in an area of the jungle Stella bought two years ago. Apparently, a forgotten temple was buried in the area, and she had it restored, setting up a community for untouchables around it. They have water, power and security, and are beginning to create a small, lucrative business working with a leather alternative for clothes and accesories.

Ned: "Alright, you can have this floor, and I will take the one straight under it"

Mako: "Who else will stay here?"

Ned: "Noone. It's just you"

Mako: "Why?"

Ned: "It's... it's your floor"

Mako: "What am I meant to do with this whole place?"

Ned: "Whatever you want, of course. Now if you excuse me, I'll see you tomorrow morning, Mako"

Come morning, you find Mako wearing the same (spotlessly clean) long dress, waiting outside your door.

Ned: "Mako, you are early."

Ned: "Good morning. Are you ready to go meet miss Crownguard?"

You read up on the history of Untouchables on India. Almost 20 million people on india, roughly one on every six indiant citizens, is considered "untouchable". They use the word "Dalit" to refer to themselves, which comes from the Sanskrit root dal- and means “broken, ground-down, downtrodden, or oppressed.” The Dalit are those who live by dedicating themselves to jobs which the majority of the indian popularion considers "unclean" such as handling waste, meat, working leather, etc. Their very presence is considered unclean and polluting, and while the indian government officially recognizes their human rights and proclaims them regular citizens, in many parts of the country, dalit are the targets of crime with the authorities choosing to do nothing about it. Murder, rape and even worse are rarely investigated when the victim is a dalit.

You rent a limousine (better to get Mako used to her new lifestyle) and instruct the driver to take you to the Abani Goddess Living Community.

The driver takes you to the entrance, but refuses to go in. Upset at the man's intolerance, you help Mako down from the car and instruct him to wait for you to come back. He drives off immediately.

The community is surrounded by three metallic fences, a feet behind eachother. A sign in several languages every dozen feet warns about the middle fence being electrically charged. The fence runs all over the property, and you lose sight of it in the freshly restored jungle on either direction.

The guard is dressed in a light green uniform, and well armed, tho he does not seem to be from the police nor military. He verifies your identity, and then very politely calls for a car to take you in.

Guard: "The Goddess is waiting for you, sir"

Ned: "Thankyou"

Your driver seems like a very polite young woman. The drive is not very long, and you drive through what would be a elite living community anywhere in the world. Beautiful houses and gardens, children running and playing, and neighbors talking to eachother as they go about their daily business right in the middle of the jungle, without affecting it in the least. Even the roads seem to have a natural shape, following the natural curves of the terrain without sacrificing practicality.

Mako: "What are those for?" -she asks as your vehicle rolls by tall, large domes.

Driver: "Research center"

The vehicle stops outside the restored temple. It is an ancient structure, restored to glory. More than a temple, it looks like a college or research facility, as you can see numerous men in suits and lab coats walking in and out of the majestic building.

Driver: "Young mother will come meet you soon" -she says- "Have a nice day" -drives off

Passing-by pedestrians greet you politely. It is a little under 10 minutes until miss Crownguard reaches you.

A natural, athletic beauty with short, soft looking hair, she seems to ooze "health" whenever you look at her. She is dressed in a very revealing, ultra modern swimsuit, walking barefoot, and dripping wet despite the towel on her shoulders.

Stella: "Thankyou for waiting. I honestly forgot you were coming, and was busy helping with the harvest when I go... well, I decided it would be better to come right away instead of making you wait while I changed. Would you like to have a tour of the place while we talk, or would you prefer a more formal place? We just finished a meeting room last week, and I know everyone is just waiting for someone to use it!" -she says just sliiightly too fast, with a bright and contagious smile on her sparkling green eyes

The inside is completely modern, with high definition screens and art pieces next to religious sculptures and art pieces, some of which may be historically valuable and a cultural inheritance of humanity, but they succeed at making the quiet china girl going along with us blush into shades of red you had no idea were humanly achievable.

Stella sits crosslegged on the seat at the head of the table and invites you to sit wherever you want.

Stella Crownguard: "Well, thank you for coming all this way. As I was saying, we are right in the middle of harvest so you'll have to excuse my appearance but... ah, you know. The "harvest" would be the leather of giant catfish. She caught a massive specimen in the river Kali while simming upstream its lenght for a television ad, and has been breeding them in the community, using them as a source of meat and leather.

She's receptive to the idea. Maybe you should try a business roll? she may have other projects, but as young and lively as she is, she is modern enough to appreciate a good business deal.

My trepidation over pushing the pure business angle is that it's quite apparent that if Stella cared about money for her it's own sake she would be one of the wealthiest Nova's out there by now.
