My people, to me! It is again the sacred time, and we relate the history of our clan in keeping with tradition. In the last two years, the clan has hosted travelers from distant Ralios (earning two treasures in payment), sent a raiding party under Derik's command to attack Praxian Sable Riders and has burned down many Jenestni homesteads in retaliation for their sins, their continued existence chief among them. We also avoided a feud with the Lysangs and received a promptly ignored warning from Cragspider. We gave our farmers gifts worth several hundred cows, in exchange for an end to certain complaints lodged against the clan and the weaponthanes. The peace is welcome, will likely be brief.
Hope your holidays went well. Feels nice to hear the music again; and wiping the Jenestni from the face of the game will also feel nice.We had a question in the last thread about the scripting language used to make it: it's called OSL (Opal Scripting Language, Opal being the game's codename during development). It's a proprietary scripting language used in just a few places, KoDP being the only game. If you're curious, Google "King of Dragon Pass Opal" and go to the blogspot link.
Here we have omens for the year. The harvest news is good, the prediction is odd. We learn new things all the time, dead people. Learning any new mystery will satisfy the ancestors.
Vastyr was our Elmali clan's token Orlanthi. Luckily Vingans can sub for Orlanthi in all ways, and Onelisin has amazing stats.
We have more children than farmers. That's bad. We also have 1303 people in our clan, that's extraordinary.I'll go ahead and reduce how many hunters we have (why so many in the first place, game?) and then we'll do something else. Give a suggestion for that second action.
No event, so let's have that action.
>>29353449Can we actively try to discover a new mystery, or is that something that happens on its own?
>>29353490Mysteries in the sense of divine magic or knowledge. In this case, blessings or a heroquest. Sacrificing to learn something will satisfy the requirement.
>>29353593Let's sacrifice that shit up, then. Also if that doesn't require an action, let's keep trading for treasures.
We sacrificed to Orlanth and learned the Lightning ritual, which increases how badly we hurt our enemies in battle. It's not something we really need, considering our casualty lists.>>29353609Treasure trading does take time, but we can do that after Fire season. After Fire season, because we'll need all hands on to fight whoever inevitably raids us.
Leika safely returns to us, with stacks of loot from the dragonnewts. For a while there I was afraid she was going to come back in a coffin.
The Old Owls come to us for information about the Stag Hearths in repayment for a favor we owe. We know two of the three answers. Keep in mind that the Owls are tribe members and our allies.
>>29353906Does anyone know anything about Estavos?
>>29354390We know the answers to two of the questions. He's impious and too cautious.
>>29354455If that's all we need to know about him, then say we know him well.If there's other questions that need knowing, mention that there's no guarantee to our answers.
Here's the question.>>29354506There's one more question that can be asked, about how generous the chief is. Also, saying you're unsure as to the answer prevents the discharging of the favor. It's generally better to give gifts if you're unsure.
The right answer was worth five goods.
It's now Fire season, so give me two actions.I checked our nobles, and we've gotten TWO more Issarians. Their stats are mediocre, but they're better than Odaylans. We want some Vingans, Eurmali or Humakti though.
>>29354716Heroquest to boost their stats, then?
>>29355208I suppose we could at that. But you can only do one heroquest a year*, and there are other people who could use a divine empowerment. And other blessings to be had, as well. Plus Issaries' heroquest requires the loss of a treasure if you don't want to have the quester injured afterward, which is better than Lhankor Mhy (always causes injury) but only just.Any action suggestions? I'll explore the tula and send a useless noble to Cragspider otherwise.*with a reasonable expectation of success
>>29355343Hrm.In that case, it might be more prudent to toss one of our lesser nobles to the trolls and try a raid instead, considering its fire season.Who're we still feuding with? Also what the hell am I the only guy in this thread gat damn
>>29355343Let's raid the Jenestni again.
This is a bit like releasing Pokemon, except instead we're sending our best and brightest to be devoured by flesh eating monsters. Bye, Beneva! We'll raid during Dark season, so we can get magic for it, unless you want to do more chopping than usual.>>29355510Completely the opposite time of day than I've used in the past, coupled with not having done this in a while. Me wandering off during slow periods isn't helping, but it should pick up.
Oh look, the Anmangarm again.
This could end poorly. Jostian is one of our newer nobles, and has Very Good (tier 3) Combat.
>>29355764#2!Time to step up to the plate, Jostian.
Give Jostian a round of applause, he's this battle's MVP.
How many horses does that make now? We need to do something about them, like slaughter or gift them en masse.
>>29355870Are there any lukewarm clans around that need some diplomancing? And by diplomancing, I mean buying their favor with our obscene wealth?
250 horses. That's a lot of the four-legged monstrosities.Fire 2, give me an action.>>29355912I'll put the map up in a minute.
Here's the clan map. Blue=ally, red=enemy, the more of either they are the closer they are to that extreme. Also, the Six Brothers split off from us on bad terms. We maybe hold a grudge over that.
>>29355510>>29355704Lurking...I have no idea how this works.
>>29356010KoDP is so complex that I barely grasp the whole picture. You're welcome to ask questions or make suggestions, I or someone familiar with the game or setting can explain as you participate.
>>29356008As I recall, the Greydogs are particularly big assholes. At least the Vostang gave us a heads-up before their feuding.Raid 'em, slaughter 'em.
>>29356010It is a crazy complex game at times. I bought it for just a few bucks offa gog to give it a whirl, and its fun but deep. It reminds me of oregon trail if it was done as a fantasy rgp/civ game.
>>29356008I'm honestly surprised that the Anmangarn don't hate us more than the Jenestni.I guess the Lysang would be an acceptable target for gifting. They're really far away and I can't really remember what they did to us.
Sorry, had to switch physical location. We're sending spare horses to the Lystangs who once burned our steads.>>29356132You start the game feuding with two clans; the Greydogs and the Anmangarn were ours. The Greydogs are also paying us tribute; we could raid them but run the risk of irritating the gods if we do.>>29356167We paid the Anmangarn off.
THIS IS FAMILIAR.Using the Bullroarer; also we're going to get even more horses from this.
No horses? A sacred time miracle. Also, nice casualty estimates.
>>29356327So...who/what do we worship?
>>29356377We worship Elmal, who famously guarded Orlanth's stead (house/territory) while he was away during a very important quest.
>>29356414Praise the Sun!
We have 600 children. That's a stupid number of ankle-biters.Anyway, it's now Earth season. Give me two actions, keeping in mind that we'll want to run a heroquest this year. Maybe Uralda; we've got our worshiper back.>>29356377The Orlanthi pantheon is the Storm Tribe; gods sworn to Orlanth the Storm King. Our primary deity is Elmal the Loyal Thane, god of the sun, defense and horses. Like in other polytheistic religions, we venerate all of our deities, even if we focus on our favorites.Of course, there are enemy gods: members of other pantheons, and the enemy gods of the Orlanthi. You don't worship them unless you want to live in interesting times (and be hated by decent Orlanthi everywhere).>>29356482Elmal is the original Sunbro.
>>29356504What do hero quests involve? Do seasons have a special effect on our actions?
>>29356504Since we're raiding in the Dark Season, could we do the Uralda heroquest now without negatively affecting crops or stuff? For second action, let's go trading for more treasures.
>>29356526Heroquests are reenactments of famous mythological events. While some clan members put on costumes and perform the story, the clan's mages conduct secret rituals to push the questers into the realm of the gods, where the story comes to life again. They're VERY powerful magic, success (and failure) can alter the destiny of a clan. We do one once a year, but in the setting they're reserved for momentous occasions and the direst of straits. The seasons do effect our actions. In Sea season you plant crops, and in Earth season you harvest them. Raiding or warring vexes the gods of these seasons, and takes people away from the fields, so the harvest suffers. People raid during Fire season instead. During Dark season the weather is so bad few people can go far from home, and Storm season is unpredictable. The weather can be balmy or as bad as Dark season.Sacred Time is also a season, but you don't play through it. During this time people conduct rituals to ensure the universe works for the year, and it's not just superstition, Gloranthans are actually recharging the universe. In game, it's time to find out what your harvest will look like, get an omen for the year, and spend magic points on buffs.
>>29356656I'll switch the order; I don't know if it's a bug or a feature but heroquesting uses up both actions for that season if you do it first.Heroquests don't negatively effect anything; you can do them whenever.
Our sacrificial lamb runs into bandits on her trip North. She has three warrior-farmers with her. How does she escape to finish her death march?
>>29356816Bluff, we bards now.
DC was too high. Worse luck, I think she came back unharmed.
The Jenestni are utter bastards and stop our diplomatic mission. How do we deal with this? Randella has Very Good Combat and Renowned Bargaining, and three of our thanes with her.
>>29356945Blood for the Bloo- err...Sun god!
Our blood, unfortunately.
This is gonna suck. We're calling in help from the tribe.
This is Uralda's Blessing. It tells the story of how the Orlanthi came to keep cattle, from the perspective of the cattle.
At least the rewards are decent. 1 increases the value of our cows in trade, 2 makes minotaurs like us better, 5 lowers the likelihood of events that negatively effect cows, 8 is actually an artifact and not a living cow, and the rest are self-explanatory.
>>29357229I'd say #1. We're still trading for treasures regularly, and the rest are pretty situational.
>>29357229More cows! MORE!
I hate to intrude, OP, but is it possible at all to run this game windowed? Seems like the perfect kind of game to be able to tab over to while I study or work.
Increased cow value is more useful to us than more cows to starve. Still need to adjust pastures, after all. This is normally the point where I'd offer a choice, but it's shortcut time.>>29357261Cow knowledge improves the Animals skill of all nobles by a small amount, and the treasure increases cattle birth rate. It's not quite situational, but this is probably the most useful to us.
>>29357373Hmm. Alright, let's do the Cow Knowledge thing, then.I suppose we can always throw more cows at the treasures if we need to.
>>29357373Numba 3. She didn't do much but watch.
Uralda-Reika dimly remembers that soon after this station of the heroquest she will be subjected to great torment, and that many heroquesters perish. With a noble tone, she commands her bulls to help the humans rather than stand idly by, sparing everyone the snakes and biting things. The bulls are cowed.>>29357362I run it windowed. Create a new shortcut and edit the target. Add -w to the end of the target field, after the close quotation marks.>>29357455Sorry, I messed that sentence up. The treasure is unique to the quest and the cow knowledge gives a small boost to all clan members Animals skill, but increasing their value is likely the most useful to us.>>29357484Glorious shortcuts mean we skip to the good part.VERY sorry, spamblocker didn't like the first six versions of this post.
Soon after their arrival, the bulls realize that their number is decreasing. Diligent study and observation reveals that the humans are taking some cattle away, and feasting on their flesh.Orlanth Green is cows!
>>29357707#1.Fate of the many vs. fate of the few, etc. etc. etc.
The bulls didn't like that.>Reload?>Y/N
>>29357829Fucking RNG. Another reason why Uralda quest is somehow more difficult than defending against Chaos attacks on the head god's home.Yes, reload.
While I'm rewriting history, do we want to change the reward we get from >>29357229?>>29357859Elusu is literally god-tier, I didn't have to savescum at all like I have every other game where I've run that quest.
>>29357948Yeah, let's get the superbull. Could always use more heads of cattle to throw at our problems.
>>29357948A magical cow would be pretty bitching, but healthy or more cows would be the best bet.
>>29358037>>29358039Whoops, I went ahead trying to increase their value. Leika got trampled again, so I'm reloading anyway.
How did you guys get so many cows?
I hate this quest so fucking much I don't care you all know I cheated until I won.>>29358315Having someone with Excellent Animal skill on the ring, Calf Blessing, success in war, points in Trade and Issarian rituals enshrined.
I skipped the most certainly deadly section of the quest and Leika still died five or six times. Elmal is the most infamous, but Uralda is the worst quest by a landslide. At least the winning line was amusing. The Clay Cow is a treasure. Most delightfully, since it's not a living treasure, it won't die in ten years.
Bandits stop our caravan to the Lonisi. What do we do?
>>29358542Kill them all
>>29358542BURN, KILL, MAIM!
The bandits won.Luckily, I know from my save scumming that it doesn't matter: We've bought ALL the clan treasures in Dragon Pass. There's one we have to reclaim from the... hm, I forget what clan, but minus that we now own every treasure you can buy in the game. There are some treasures remaining, but we'll get them from exploration.
I've never seen this event before. The Vostang (whom we feud with) took thralls captive and are willing to give them to us for horses.Onelisin says that we can get magic for convincing the Vostangi to give up thrall-taking. Kentvent says that because the dwarves aren't humans, we can keep them as thralls without pissing off the ancestors.
>>29358785Free them. We'll swim in Dwarf gold and bitches soon.
>>29358837This. Time for HYPERDWARFDRIVE
Gloranthan dwarves are fucking weird.
Nice harvest. It went down from the last image not because the harvest was bad, but because the counter goes down with the start of a new season, and harvest affects the end of a turn in Earth. It's now Dark season.
>>29358944Raid the Jenestni!
>>29358892Dwarf hookers inbound>>29358944>Raiding in the Dark Season
But before we get to raiding the Jenestni, it's time to part ways with Derik. Persuading him is just about impossible, so pick another option.
>>29359014See ya, Bat-thane. You were a murderous bastard and I'm not sorry to see you go.Still, no reason to be dicks about it. Let's go with 4 and cull some of those extra livestock.
>>29359014#4 and #5, if we can do more than one.
How does this look for a parting sacrifice?>>29359100Just one, I'm afraid.
ahhh havent seen this thread. thought it might have finished over the holidays without me knowing Q___Q
>>29359213Ah hell, he's not THAT special. 50 cattle and 25 goods should be enough.
Now we choose what god receives the sacrifice. Elmal might be appropriate, but he was the god who stayed behind.Might be even more appropriate if you've played the game. Orlanth or Vinga might work too.>>29359259Still around, holidays were hectic is all.
>>29359294We have a shitton of cows. We are up to our assholes in cows.We can spare a few.
>>29359355Can't go wrong with an Orlanth sacrifice.
You really can't go wrong with an Orlanth sacrifice.Derik is one of our thanes, which is why we're losing one. He's not poaching our people.
>>29359450shit realized our clan ring is getting on their years
Now it's the best season of all: Jenestni season.>>29359504The three on the left are in their 30s. We've got twenty threads before we have to worry about old age from them. The other four have a ticking clock over them though.
It's funny, we got us a REAL Fimbulvetr going down here in North America. THE SERVANTS OF VALIND WILL NOT TAKE US.
And then the Fimbulvetr invaded the Jenestni. Again.>>29359593"Polar Vortex" is almost as cool a name for the storm as Fimbulvetr would have been.
Why do the events keep going after our farmers?!
>>29359732Oh right, Very Good Combat.
>>29359550Shit, I just realised that scarred dude on the far right is Oneslin, the shorthaired kinda-hot chick.Age does not treat her well.>>29359732don't try to be a hero, when you're not.
>>29359732Fight bravely, "very good" is decent and if it goes tits up it's not like he's on the ring
Going with the option that usually works gave us the thanes causing a problem. Nice going, meatheads.>>29359834Should have seen her second portrait, the hollow cheeks might have been an improvement.
Still managed to burn some steads.
That didn't take long. I'm inclined to reject this out of hand. What say you?
>>29359931#4.YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO BE ELMAL BROS WITH US, JENESTNI. BUT YOU HAD TO BE ASSHOLES AND RAID US WHEN WE WERE DOWN.
>>29359931yeaaa fuck em
She'd best run back to her tula, we're right on her heels.I'm surprised there's no announcement that the AI magically rebuilt the Jenestni forces.
And just like that we do it all over again.
Well walk back to the tula by the light of their burning steads.
Time to redraw the map. We have to find where they are now and obliterate them there.
>>29360085What's the use of stead burning? Reducing their populations?
Oh, this could be fun. The Uroxi suspect our clan has Chaos infiltrators, and one of their warriors is here to find out.
>>29360146I say we let the ring do it.
>>29360146Ask dead people first.
>>29360146Can we do both?
I don't think he'd have been satisfied unless we gave him someone to lynch. Lacking Sense Chaos or our own Uroxi we didn't have much of an opportunity for success.>>29360141Reduces their defenses, making follow-up attacks easier. Also has a high chance of success, it's third, behind Plunder and Survive.>>29360196Not this time. Sorry, I flipped a coin and it came up heads: Ring interrogation.
>>29360146No no, I remember we fucked up last time there was a chaos problem. The ancestors can't detect chaos taint the way an Uroxi can.I say we go with 2, and if that doesn't work we go with 3. This isn't something we want to let slide if it's a real threat.
>>29360264Damn, got my vote for 3 in too late. Is Sense Chaos a thing we can try to sacrifice to get? It seems to be a recurring weakness.
It's Storm season, and the Jenestni have, against all good reason, decided to move closer to us.>>29360287Single choice. Letting him do the questioning gets one of our ring members accused of being a Chaos lover, whether or not they are.>>29360314We have it, but not enshrined.
>>29360287Oh i remember that, the cow slaying one.
Anyway, Storm season. All actions are open to us, and the Jenestni are apparently weakened. We should raid them. Also, there are treasures to be found and a blessing we want to enshrine. What are we doing this season? Two actions, please.
>>29360447Raid Jenestni. And... uh.... explore Tula or Dwarf area? I know that the dwarf stuff was bugged a bit, and we didn't know if the dwarf discovery were properly triggered for the endgame.Does the chaos detection blessing useful to have enshrined all the time, or is it situational?
Interestingly, there are more Jenestni now than there were before.
At least the survivors will be warm at night.
What do you mean "If" Elusu? They haven't paid, our oaths no longer apply.Sadly, we're dealing with the Jenestni at the moment.Just a heads up: We'll be finishing the year and picking up again tomorrow for the second year.
Pfft, like we care. You'll disband and like it. Rejected!
Magical AI bullshit gets them new soldiers.
The Greydogs came to us. That's very thoughtful of them.
My apologies, I was called away.Again one of our Barntar worshipers has an event. Orlgard has Renowned Combat, Good Leadership and Very Good Magic.
>>29361096Go with 1, see if it works.
>>293610964Nice to see you back by the way
I don't like losing soldiers, but this isn't much of a loss.
>>29361199Huh, so maybe the difference between 1 and 4 was that 4 was pure Combat while 1 needed both Leadership and Combat to pass?
>>29361278Hope those horses were worth it you faggots
And for the last action of Storm, Enothea sets off to explore Dwarf Valley for the umpteenth time.>>29361334Could be. That, or 1 needed Bargaining, or a different role of the RNG. Hard to say.
>>29361278You didn't lose soldiers, you lost carls.BTW>complaints
The Jenestni invade us, in defiance of sanity or recent history. Did they move closer so that they'd have an easier time of invading US?>>29361386Remember now, thanes are MORE than just soldiers, they're a special existence in the clan structure.
My crafters only craft a tiny amount, never enough to keep my shrines happy. How do I increase their productivity?
>>29361415You only lost footmen in that fight. We thanes are happy.
I sacrificed to Humakt, put magic into the fight and chose "Kill as many as possible". Didn't manage to off a single thane.>>29361420Make new trade routes and find the trade goods by exploring your tula.
>>29361278what the shitthey took some of our excess horses and died in droveshow the fuck is this a loss for us again
Anmangarn? Really? Guess it's time for the biannual Fimbultvetr dogpile: We pile the bodies of the dogs that attack us on our fields.
>>29361471There were only six of them, my lord, and weaker than their farmers, I'd imagine.
>>29361493they succeeded in getting horses, that counts as a win for them
>>29361497I hoped you remembered to sacrifice to me!
>>29361523>Sacred time>Not sacrificing to Malia
Lost more this time.>>29361493In order to get those horses they had to push us off the field. They won by managing that, even if they lost more people in doing it.>>29361523You get yearly sacrifices. You're the reason we can raid whenever we want and not have horrific food shortages. Also it's Maran Gor, with an "n".
And that's the year! I'll be stopping here for tonight. I will resume some number of hours hence, likely in the late afternoon board time. I'll post on the Twitter (@WatashiwaOnline) when I have a better sense for when that will be, and I'll also be in the thread via mobile networks. Orlanth bless cell technology. If you have any questions go ahead and ask, I'll answer to the best of my ability. Hope you all had fun. Also, when we start again someone should remind me to increase pastures again.
>>29361606DON'T FORGET TO INCREASE PASTURES AGAIN.
So cows and horses I kinda get, but what are pigs and sheep used for? Any other advice for a newbie?
>>29366744Sheep are for sacrifice in shrines and food, pigs are just food. In the iOS version they've been merged into "Lifestock" because of redunancy.Don't fuck with ducks.
>>29366817Are the ducks actually that scary? Haven't met them yet, but the stories I hear make them out to be BAD END incarnate.
>>29366875It's not much about ducks themselves as about apocalypse-level events with beastmen.
>>29359593I distinctly remember saying "Who pissed off Ves Venna?" when I learned precisely what was about to hit the US.
>>29370335Honestly, it was probably me.I'm posting from mobile right now. I'll be starting the game again in about two hours and we'll finish the year. There's likely to be one or two interruptions but I'll warn ahead of time.
>>29367153This. The more aggressive Humakti ducks are reasonably tough, but no more so than a typically aggressive enemy clan. What happens is that eventually they go crying to their beastman buddies. Who then proceed to rally their kingdom's forces and grind your clan under their hooves.
Saving from Page 9
All right, enough staring at computer parts. Let's get started again.Trading will be down for the year, unfortunate but we've a mountain of goods already.
And immediately our exploration party is attacked by bandits. One of our explorers is held for ransom. What do we do?
>>29375656Hmm...we could send some of our best after the son of a bitch.
>>29375656Shamans have command over spirits, make sure we get our ancestors on board to combat them. Then send war party
Sacrificing before an attack. Do we want to offer this much, or more?
>>29375878Here's the amount we might sacrifice.
>>29375912May as well bump it some, maybe 21 each. Not like we're in danger of NOT being fabulously wealthy
The Ancestors accept the sacrifice. Next we choose Elusu to lead the war party, and now we decide how many people to send. How many thanes do we send?
>>29376229As many as it takes. All of them if necessary.
All is a good way to get our shit raided with our pants down. ~15 is plenty
Thanks Ancestors. You guys are a huge help. Now excuse us while we smash these statues to you...
Having procured new Ancestors to worship, we arrive in Sea season. First thing's first, I'll increase pastures. Again.
Having done that, we see this lawsuit brought forward again. Wonder why they never learn?
Here are the results of our sleuthing. Looks like an open and shut case. We don't have to reach out to the truth though.
>>29377071Go for it.Also get new weaponthanes, jesus.
>>29377071Find in favor of Engarna.
Seems we did good.>>29377288Doing this next.
We have the ability to recruit an additional 14 thanes. Very nice.
Didn't get all of them, but that's okay. It's now Fire season. Give me two actions. Sacrificing to Maran Gor on the Jenestni and sending noble tribute to Cragspider strike my fancy, but I leave these decisions to you.Sorry, the delay that I mentioned is starting. I'll let you know when I disappear next.
>>29377821I can dig those actions.
>>29377821Will sacrificing to Maran Gor to earthblast the Jenestni's crops get them to leave faster than constant raiding? Or is it more of a symbolic "fuck you" thing?I think sending a seasonal mediocre noble gift basket to Cragspider is a great idea. That prophecy of babies with superstats as adults seems to have been somewhat optimistic.
Things are going to get uncomfortable on the Jenestni tula.>>29378011>Will sacrificing to Maran Gor to earthblast the Jenestni's crops get them to leave faster than constant raiding? Or is it more of a symbolic "fuck you" thing? The latter, though I hope it also increases their attrition rate.
Vostaaaaaaaang!Actually this could be my fault, I haven't checked the patrols recently.
Patrols are fine, four inner four outer. Could be more, I guess.Beneva goes off to feed the trolls, or at least Cragspider's flame.
>>29378124Looks like we're hitting them later.
Praise Maran Gor, who blesses us by cursing our enemies.
Now this is an insult. I accidentally didn't send our exploration party to Cragspider because I swapped the leader at the last second. Instead they explored the tula. The bandits kidnapped one of our people anyway.I'm somewhat irritated. How do we deal with Veharl?
>>29378351Any advice we can get here? The direct method doesn't seem to work.
>>29378436That was the RNG fucking with us. I've noticed that a lot of events have a sweet spot where enough units of whatever works, while more than enough fails. You might try getting help, we're well liked and influential.
>>29378351>>29378481Get help AND seek ancestor blessing.
That could have ended poorly, but what 20 could not accomplish, ten did. Elusu accomplishes his mission with dignity and grace as usual.
The Vostangi had better cut this out or their next on our list. If we didn't have an engagement with our football rivals we'd spend this year wrecking them.
The Stags might go after them.
Randella has an event. She has Very Good Combat.
>>29378823We want her uninjured so we can use her for trading later. But she can fight bravely, just not take insane risks.
>>29378823Fight bravely, press the enemy hard.
Fimbulvetr: Our traders fight better than you, too.
A well deserved victory, minus the two dead.
It's now Earth season. Good time to go looking for treasure, or make people like us more....or we could curse the Vostangi fields and send people to Cragspider.
>>29379150>All those sickDo we have Curing enshrined?
>>29379150Let's do our usual Earth things for now and wait for Dark or Storm to fuck up the Vostangi. Besides, two Blast Earths in one year might start getting people uncomfortable.
>>29379207We don't. Something we could do.>>29379209We've acquired all the trading treasures, except the one we gifted to the Tree Brothers. Want to recover that?
>>29379293Let's enshrine Curing, then dump a pile of horses on someone who's eh towards us.
>>29379293What was it? Anything worth caring about?
Enshrining Curing will still let us cast the ritual as needed, while our people's recovery rate from sickness speeds up.>>29379342Nah, but it's a treasure to be had.
We've had this event before. Keep in mind that making the marriage will automatically create a new alliance, when we're just on the edge of how many alliances we can have.
>>29379527What do the spirits think?
"Think for yourself, shmuck" say the spirits. The ring has full authority over marriages, what we do is entirely up to us.Have to step away, I'll be back in 15-20 minutes.
>>29379527Refuse the match. We're good as-is, and won't need any more alliances until we try to form a kingdom.
>>29379879This has my support.
For once the carls have a semi-legitimate point.
Did anything ever come of the Dwarves we set free?
If we're going to dump horses, we have to decide on whom we're doing it. This is the current clan map.
>>29379784Don't give us that shit, ancestors, you still owe us for that first shamanAs far as horses go, maybe the Kardarvi? Show them no hard feelings for snubbing that lady
>>29380246Blue Spruce, so we can get those Jenestni bastards?
>>29380246Let's go with the Kardarvi. Let's schmooze up to Jenestni neighbors.
We're sending equine parasites to the Blue Spruces to make them like us, so we can raid their new neighbor easier.>>29380241Nothing obvious. It's a behind the scenes relationship bump with their faction though.
Ah damn, it was 1 and 1 and Eurmal told me to shmooze with the Blue Spruces. We can gift the Kardavi later, it's not like we'll run out of horses. That'll have to wait, because now it's Jenestni open season!
Sadly, we had to call off our first football match because of weather.
>>29380773Jenestni dogs. Burnburnburnburn.Eat cows taken from dogs. Mhm.
At least the Blue Spruces liked the gifts.
As it happens, the Blue Spruces are the mad chief clan. As you might expect, their chiefs have a tendency of going--or being--crazy. They want us to bleach their gene pool, by raiding and killing.Shall we play doctor on the Blue Spruces?
>>29380948What do our clan ring members think?
>>29381041Slight bias towards helping. Leika has an amusing comment.
>>29381163Hmm... seems to be skirting the secret murder boundary a bit, but let's help them out.
This should be fun.
The Blue Spruces have an Elmali who proves to be a thorn in our side. What does Onelisin do to the heroquester?
>>29381410Onselin is a monster in combat, but what are her other stats again? Not sure if shaking confidence will work so well if her bargaining or other similar skills aren't so high.
We won the fight but lost the war. Our relations are likely to be worse off.
Ah damn, posted the next image in the succession. Oh well. Have us raiding the Jenestni instead!
Elusu has a worrisome combat event. Heroic all relevant.
>>29381671Lead warriors to victory.
It went quite well.
I had to stop and laugh at this. They're already suing for peace! I told them to jump into Skyfall Lake.
Storm season now. Give me two actions for it. Perhaps an exploration party and a treasure buying mission, or another Jenestni raid,
>>29381990Try to properly discover the dwarf valley mine shaft/entrance, raid Jenestni.
>>29382427ya dorf fort
The Anmangarn attack. I don't see their game here, they can't actually think they'll win.
So when do we send Fridthorf to rape the priestess?
Eonislara (our Ernaldan) has an event. Turns out that Elusu isn't infallible. We have a raft of the usual options and... "call upon the dark side of the Earth".Huh.What do we do?
>>29382552Heal him, you fool! Maran Gor is a blood goddess, she might claim his life if we pick her option.
>>29382552Rush forward and heal.
The day is saved thanks to Eonislara.
That went pretty well.Oh right, we haven't heroquested this year. Any suggestions?
>>29382728Are there any that we haven't done so far? The one about the drought seems fairly straightforward.
>>29382728Do Issaries to settle the Vostang feud, letting us narrow our focus on the Jenestni even further?
>>29382806We could settle the Argmanrralksjdlaksdjfalskdjf feud. While they were sneaky backstabbing gits, they're designated as the "warrior clan", and will thus cause a lot of trouble in combat situations even if we outnumber them severely and outfight them.
>>29382783We have yet to do Chalana Arroy Heals the Scars. In part this is in the blind hope that we get a worshiper of that goddess to perform the quest for us.Orlanth and Aroka is a pretty good quest, we've almost got everything worthwhile from it though. There's one treasure left, the Widebrew, which increases the power of the "Kill as many as possible" battle tactic.>>29382806Sounds good.
It's a good idea to have some disposable treasures on hand, like the Sorcerous Implements or Spirit Fetches, just so you can successfully resolve this event. He won't trade Tiger Eye Necklaces either, so it's time to cut and run.>>29382937We're not feuding with them anymore. They don't like us and they raid us frequently, but the feud is over.
At least she survived. And the feud is ended.
It seems Elusu is privy to information we don't have.
>>29383110If he's got friends on the other side, I say do as he says and ignore the shaman. Prepare for incoming ice demons.
>>29383110I suppose we can maintain a temple to Lankhor Mhy if it really comes down to it.But don't do anything to the shaman.
>>29383110Elusu's spent more time on the God Plane than half the younger pantheon. I'd take his word on it
I hate the waiting game.>>29383171We have a Lhankor Mhy temple, I believe.
The Greydogs return for a beating.
Enothea and her Heroic Combat are right in the thick of their lines.
>>29383313What does Odaylan battle magic even look like? Inquiring minds
>>29383313Fight bravely, press them hard!
Eurmal was playing dice with Enothea's fate. Heroic Combat was the difference between survival and meeting a terrible fate.>>29383358It involves arrows, I imagine. Seriously though, no idea. This calls for science.
The fight went well for us, Enothea absorbed all our battle misfortune and survived, leaving the rest of the army to kill Greydogs.
What, they need more pasture? This is getting ridiculous.Anyway, that's the year, and the thread! Thanks for playing all, I hope you had a good time.I'll stick around to answer questions for a bit, but I'm putting together a new rig so responses might be delayed.
when canbwe expect the next thread? also, I'm so happy that you didnt post during the holidays and that you post threadsbon Twitter.
>>29384057Next thread will be Friday or Saturday. I'm meeting with friends on one of those days, so I'll play the game on the other day.I would have liked to run during the holidays, but those were difficult for various reasons. Still, we're in good position to finish the game, Eurmal willing and my schedule permitting.
