You are Frank Doge, a Wage Mage of Ares Macrotechnology. Right now you are in the Big Rhino eating a troll sized portion of ribs and downing a tall glass of Sweet Tea. Just an hour ago you were in a van full of Shadowrunner terrorist who you think were trying to take you hostage. Through some stroke of luck though you talked them down from continuing their plan and even turn themselves in.

You've been giving the day off to find your bearing and recover from such a traumatic experience.

Inventory:
6,500 nuyen
1x Commlink with your work contacts along with a bartender at the Speed Runner incase you wanted to hire a "private investigator" to find out how this all happened.

You are almost done eating, Time to move out and figure out your next move

I don't know anything about Shadowruns.

What is a Wage Mage? What is a wage slave? Can one become literally a slave in Shadowrun setting?
What is a Spider?

If we are a Mage, can we cast magic spells?
>>
You finish your meal, wipe off your face, and finish your drink. As you get up your 'link chirps, telling you 6 nuyen has been taken from your account, along with the 5 corp scrip you were given for lunch earlier this morning. You then head for the stairs and walk downstairs into the Ork Underground, the only place you seem to blend in.
As you walk through 'Touristville' you admire how much everyone has worked to turning this place into an official district of Seattle. Still though, you notice some of those less savory elements in the Underground and how they too may become parts of the city. That worries you, since it took all you had to escape being like those people.
After a little while you head back out through the Big Rhino and take a cap back to Ares Plaza in Everett. After paying the cab driver you head back into the building and wait in the main lobby as people start getting off work early.

After maybe half an hour you send Tim a message
>"Hey I got off early today, wanna join me and take a half day. Found a good bar to head to."

A couple minutes later you get a response back
>"Be down in ten minutes"

And on the minute Tim comes out of the elevator, with Sam. The two smile and give a half wave, and a punch on the forearm from Sam.

"Hey big guy, didn't see ya when I left for a coffee break, what happened?" She looks up laughing a bit, looking up towards you

Wageslave: Megacorps now run most everything in the worlds, they are more powerful than governments. If you work for one, you are a wageslave.

Wage Mage: You are a mage, employed by a megacorp (or subsidiaries). Mages are not easy to find, so you aren't super disposable, but you are still an employee and as such, gotta follow da rules.

Spider: Someone who can go into the matrix and then control all the cameras and defense robots etc in a building. They also protect the servers from hacking attempts.

Can we cast spells: There are different kinds of mages. You have Mages, Adepts, and Mystic Adepts. Mages cast spells and can summon and do lots of crazy stuff, Adepts use magic to perform super-human feats, and Mystic Adepts do a bit of both.

We are adepts, so no, we don't throw fireballs.
>>
>>29350837
Yes please.
>>
>>29350613
A wage slave is essentially a slave to whatever Corp they work for as a wage mage you actually have the ability to use magic which gives you a slightly cushier job. A spider is basically Computer security.

We are actually an adept, a kind of magic in which we have a certain control over our body akin to Bruce Lee, but we have honed it to instead be a social genius.

Sure, they can 'quit'. But jobs are hard to come by, and unless you are really spectacular, you are probably not going to find another job easily.

But then again, if you are really special and your skills are in demand, you might be able to work out a deal with a different corporation to 'abduct' you.

It's possible to change employers, and the lower on the corporate ladder you are, the less restrictive things get.
But if you work for one of the big AAA megacorps, they're essentially their own nations and changing employers is essentially changing citizenship.
It's possible, but somewhat discouraged.

And who are the runners? I always thought they were some badass professionals but the last thread we were against bunch of snot-nosed rookies.
>>
"It seems that the group I went with wasn't completely prepared for their presentation, and there was nothing I could really salvage." You laugh a bit and look a bit smug about yourself as you say all this.

Tim and Sam laugh with you then look back to you. "So where are we going again? Tim says its some sort of place named the Speed Runner, this isn't some seedy dive bar is it?" Sam says a little suspicious since you usually don't take Tim along when you and Sam hang out after work.

You then shrug to her "No idea, its supposed to be downtown from what I was told."

"Alright, well lets head out then." Sam responds back as the three of you head out of the building. As you guys head outside you call for the nearest available cab on your commlink.

>One hour later

"FRANK WHAT THE FUCK?" Sam grabs your collar and pulls you down to her level, face redder than anything you have seen before.

Shadowrunner just means that you're someone who is willing to work under the table and outside the system.
A shadowrunner can be a snot-nosed punk from the ghettos who doesn't have a System Identification Number and is in way over their head, to a cold professional operative who has the most bleeding edge cyberware outside of a megacorp R&D lab.

You laugh a little bit trying to pull off this as some sort of office prank Tim and Samantha do not look amused though, so thats not gonna work.

"Jeez, well someone told we this was a pretty good place to go since I look like I can take care of myself." You say, as you turn around shrugging. Oh thank god, the cab didn't leave he must have taken pity on you.

"Whatever Frank, lets go back to Everett and go to some bar, I think baseball is supposed to be at the World Cup or something." Sam says as she storms back into the car, Tim following her, and you getting in last. You tell the driver to head back into Everett and go to Danny's on Beverly and Barbra. As the car drives off though something catches the corner of your eye and you watch a guy get thrown out the window of the Speed Runner, then you hear the sounds of gunshots and the man who was thrown out the window open fire of the building.

"Oh man, Frank look at that. Must be one of those Shadowrunner types. Thank goodness we didn't go in there." Tim says, pointing at the scene as the cab driver puts his foot to the peddle and in almost half the time you are back in Everett., and at Danny's Bar and Grill even. You all get out and Sam looks sternly at you. "You are buying me a steak"

"All right, all right, if that puts me back in your good graces." You say as you all head in. The bar seems to be a small little dive, but its better than some place in Redmond and you all sit down and look through the menu.

After you all order and your drinks come out, Tim gets an extra girl. Your waitress smiling at him. "Its from the lady at the bar."

You all turn and see a rather gorgeous woman sitting by the bar, turned towards Tim and gives him a 'look'. Tim smiles nervously and waves back.

>Egg on Tim

You smirk and look over to Tim who lets out an audible gulp and turns red in the ears before ducking his head back and bury it into the menu the waitress forgot. Sam laughs a bit at Tim's expense and pats his back.

"Its ok if you're nervous, not everyone needs to pick up bar skanks." You laugh at that and after awhile and glancing over at the Combat Biker game on the Trid Screen.

Another ten minutes later your food is brought out. You ended up getting a rather meaty burger, fries, and a 2 pint glass of Budweiser. Tim got a meatless salad tea while Sam got the porterhouse with baked potato along with a Michelob Ultra Light.

As the three of you begin eating, the woman from the bar comes over and sits down at thee open seat and stares at Tim.

"You aren't gonna take my drink sweety?" Her finger circling the glass, a smile on her face. Sam glares at this woman for so rudely coming over, but you, you can tell something is off.

The controls are that we know she's a vamp and her employment opportunities elsewhere. Everything else can be made up with our social jutsu.
>>

Don't forget the fact that our employers can supply her with food without her risking her ass doing this to survive, and the issue that as an employee of a company that currently has the peacekeeping contract of Seattle, we have a better opportunity then most to subject her to living hell

In Shadowrun, vampires aren't worth it. They are literally infected with an infectious disease, and them doing even a SINGLE point of essence damage could permanently fuck us up as a mage. She isn't minion material. Period.
>>
You grab her by the face, don't wanna ruin her money maker. Well thats not HER money maker, but still you don't hit girls in the face. You proceed to throw her into the table, you were just eating at, her entire body hitting the cheap wood, splitting it and sending the food flying. In blind panic she claws at your arms and tries to bite your hand as you hold her down, letting out a barbaric yell.

Breathing heavily you scream at her. "Three things you undead skank. First, your paying for my fucking suit. Second, when I let go you won't attack me. Finally, you are gonna give me your contact info," This seems to make her stop attacking your arm and let out a muffled

"What?"

"You heard me, I want a new suit, and I want a number I can reach you at. Now if you say no I can sit on you until my colleagues at Knight Errant come and pull me off. Do I make my self clear?"

After a couple seconds a muffled 'yes' comes out of her mouth and you let go of her. She then looks up at you with half a smile and from inside her cleavage she pulls out a card and hands it to you, its for a high end suit place in downtown Seattle

"Alright, and get my info from the bar man. You may call me Xena, and tell the man at shop my name after he takes your measurements." She quickly slides out from under you and makes a run for the back door to disappear into the night .And a second later Knight Errant charges in, guns out and see you covered in claw marks kneeling down.

"Mr. Dodge are you alright? Do you require medical attention?"

Sam is standing by the door with Tim, the two of them look positively frightened.

>>
>>29355212
Fuck that. They SHOULD kill her, before she infects/kills more people, or causes us a point of Essence loss. Vampires should be quarantined until they die of lack of murdering people AT BEST.

Vampires are NOT a thing to be fucked around with in Shadowrun. An encounter with one leaves wounds you NEVER recover from, ESPECIALLY if you're a mage, which we are.

You smile and get up, brushing off what you can from now your heavily ruined suit. "Why yes gentlemen, My friends do not have a car, do you have a proper vehicle for a man my size.

The officers relax and look out to the small pursuit car they drove to the scene "My apologizes Mr. Dodge, but no. We can call a separate car for your friends if you that would make you feel more comfortable.

As the Knight Errant officers run out your commlink chirps

>Xena has been added to your contacts

You shakes your head as the message disappears and you feel Sam grab onto you into a hug, and Tim grabs your arm to shake with his whole arm. After a second Sam is the first to speak

"You Big Oaf! If you got blasted by that monster who would I have to make me coffee. They might even move some total douche to your old spot into the cube, maybe two since you take up half of the damn thing. Shit, I would be fucked without you." Sam laughs nervously, but you can tell she is shaken by this.

Tim on the other hand looks so embarrassed about all this he doesn't want to speak except to say thank you repeatedly as he uses both of his arms to actually shake your hand.

Before long though the second car comes and you all go to your cars. The back is rather cramped, but the station isn't far and as you pull up you see a paddy wagon unloading an entire group of people, whose curses you can hear from here. Once you are in the station you see what kind of people these are. Shadowrunners and they look mad. Sam and Tim are sat a couple seats away as you go into the onsite clinic where they patch up your arm and an officer sits down next to the table, pulling out a tablet.

"I'm Officer O'Connor and I'll be taking your statement."

You nod and try your best to listen to all his stories about the jobs he has done, and how he is the greatest thing in the history of decking NOT hacking, but DECKING, yes, because decking is the shit, you really can't tell what is the difference beside a lack of those board things he keeps describing. Also this Slamm-O dude. He won't shut up about him either. Its a lot for someone who doesn't know shit about computers to stomach. Finally you see a chance to get a word in edge wise.

"So, how good at you into breaking into Ares systems?" You say, looking at him as serious you could. As 'Shaodwrunny' as you could.

"Ares, you fraggin' serious? Those white hat scrubs couldn't keep up with this Kommando I'll tell you that. They once were able to get my location and sent a group of Fire watch guys to take me out and I jacked out and helped my bro and this ork take out the whole team before we got out with that sweet paydata." As he is saying this the Ork and Dwarf roll their eyes. The ork speaking up this time.

"It didn't happen EXACTLY like that 'Ko' he did jack out, before a firewatch squad got through the door, but we hightailed it before we could get caught. It wasn't this job though. So if you lookin for a new crew, we ain't that bad."

This guys don't seem even worth it. Plus that scrawny dude watching all this in front of you guys has started laughing.

'Kommando' looks over at him and growls
"What you looking at Wunderkid, you looking for a laugh before they rip you apart on a table?"

After looking around very quickly you don't see anyone with a commlink, but you are the only one. That kid is looking you dead in the eye though.

As the three of you leave you pass up the the kid who just turns to watch you leave. "Hey kid, you need a ride?" He looks up to you and chuckles while shaking his head. "No thanks sir, I'll be fine. thanks though.
