They are coming.

You look up at the sky, feeling the approaching foes. You can't see them with your eyes yet, but when you can sense energy, that doesn't mean much. Around you, the citizens of West City go about their business as usual, oblivious to the fact that these could very well be their final moments.

Ragus and Onia stand to either side of you, prepared for the coming battle. They each wear that characteristic look of determination and anticipation common to saiyans in the face of an impending conflict. Ragus cracks his knuckles and rolls his shoulders, while Onia is preparing to launch into battle the second the enemy arrives.

You have all kept your powers hidden in the interest of having some level of surprise on your side, though, feeling the strength of your enemies, surprise may be an unnecessary advantage.

Still, it isn't the soldiers you worry about.

You can still sense that massive power far in the distance, the one that dwarfs any you have felt save Bardock's father. And since Bardock's father isn't here, your chances are slim.

You still find yourself questioning the wisdom of Salta's plan. When you arrived to help her, Fita, Spina, and Erica face the mighty power, she had sent you away. Salta told you to go to Korrin's tower and get as many senzu beans as you could, then to go and help the kids stay alive should Salta and the others fail.

So, here you are, standing in a city that will soon become a warzone, a pair of saiyans only slightly older than you by your side. The others are inside Capsule Corporation, where the twins, Selri and Collie, are attempting to contact their father.

At your side, Onia speaks.

"Maybe we should go and meet the enemy before they reach the city" she suggests. "We can face them without worrying about collateral damage, which means we won't have to hold anything back, and we should be victorious rather quickly."

"Suit yourself" Onia tells you, maintaining her watch of the sky.

"I don't need to hold back anyway" Ragus speaks up. "I can kill them with my bare hands here just as easily as I could anywhere else."

You feel your foes approaching fast, and the closer they get, the better you can distinguish individual power levels.

You count over two dozen foes approaching. The majority of them are far weaker than any of you, though still extremely powerful by most standards. They will likely only put up a small fight.

However, you sense one power level among them that gives you pause. It feels stronger than Onia and Ragus. While it's still weaker than you, it could still be a threat.

Several moments pass. Then, finally, you see them.

Armor clad aliens of many different shapes, sizes, and colors appear in the skies above West City, hovering above the massive buildings.

At the head of the group is a large, muscular, purple-skinned alien in black battle armor. He looks over the city for a few moments before speaking. To your surprise, his words seem to carry over the entire city.

"People of Earth" he says in a deep, commanding voice. "We are here on behalf of the illustrious Lord Cooler, the most powerful being in the universe!"

Around you, people begin to look to the skies, terror, confusion, and disbelief the most common emotions displayed on their faces.

"Listen carefully" the purple alien tells the people. "Lord Cooler has sent us here in search of Saiyans. You will surrender any Saiyans to us, or your city will be destroyed, along with each and every one of you?"

You hear confused talking along with screams of terror among the people, before somebody asks "What the heck is a Saiyan?"

The purple alien laughs. "If you're trying to play stupid, you're doing a very good job of it. Saiyans look very much like you, Earthlings. However, they are far more powerful, and have-

Around you, the people continue to panic. But you notice something, a pair of them are staring directly at you and your friends, more specifically, at your tales.

One look at their faces, and you can see they intend to tell the invaders about you.

You brace yourself, and shout "Kaio-Ken!"

A familiar sensation fills you. You feel faster, stronger, and all around more powerful than normal. With this rush of strength, you charge up towards the lead alien.

His head snaps towards you as you approach, his scouter likely having alerted him to your energy.

"Got ya!" he yells gleefully, hurling a pair of energy blasts in your direction.

As the attacks shoot like missiles towards you, you unleash an energy wave of your own. Your wave collides with his two blasts, which dissolve inside your attack.

The expression on the purple alien's face switches from excitement and amusement to shock and terror. His eyes widen, and his mouth opens in a scream just before your blast hits him.

There is a great explosion, and when the smoke clears, there is nothing left of your opponent.

His soldiers look at the spot where he once hovered in shock before looking back at you. As one, they charge in your direction, waves of fighters converging on you, intending to crush you under sheer numbers.

Too bad for them, you aren't their only opponent.

Ragus and Onia take to the sky and attack the soldiers, who are too focused on you to notice them coming.

Before the first wave even reaches you, a volley of blasts from Onia vaporizes every last one of them.

The soldiers in the following waves are now aware of the new arrivals, but that doesn't help them.

Ragus crashes into the second wave himself, delivering a series of mighty physical attacks that send broken bodies crashing to the ground below.

Where there were once two dozen soldiers charging you, there are now only eight terrified aliens falling into a hasty retreat.

"Well, that went a lot more smoothly than I expected" Onia comments, her tone somewhere between relief and boredom.

"Are you really that surprised?" Ragus asks. "You could feel their power levels, everybody besides that purple guy was pathetic, and even he wasn't a match for Goku here."

"I consider it good practice to hope for the best but expect the worst" Onia says simply, turning her attention to you. "Good work, we took out a lot of Cooler's men, and protected the city. Now we need to decide what to do next."

"What do you mean?" Ragus asks. "We'll just keep killing them as they come."

"I honestly doubt it will be that simple" Onia tells him, as if speaking to a five year old. "Cooler knows where at least three Saiyans are now, and I'm guessing he'll find that very interesting. I don't know if we're his targets, or if he even has any real targets, but whether he wants us eliminated or captured, it makes sense to assume that his next attack here will contain a lot more men, stronger than the ones we fought. For all we know, he'll show up himself, and I find it extremely unlikely that we could handle him ourselves."

Ragus sighs, looking down at the city. "Then what should we do?"

"Honestly, I'm not sure" Onia admits, before turning her attention to you. "You're in charge, Goku. What do you think?"

As the confused people look on, they slowly rise into the air and float away, moving slowly but still quick enough to reach the lookout within a few hours. Soon, they are just specs in the distance, and soon after that, they are no longer visible.

You remain in West City with Selri, Collie, Ragus, and Onia.

Selri and Collie stand back to back, looking to the Northern and Southern skies respectively. Onia takes her usual stance, watching carefully and ready to strike at a moment's notice, much like a viper or cobra. Ragus looks around, seeming a bit bored. He never was one for patience when it comes to waiting for a fight.

Soon, as the sun begins to set, you feel them coming.

You feel far more power levels approaching than last time, and they all seem stronger. At their head are three high power levels, each of them feeling equal to your own.

Looking at the others, you can tell they feel it too.

Ragus and Onia once more wear the Saiyan looks of anticipation and determination. Selri and Collie look similar, though you can see a twinge of fear in their expressions. Still, you know they won't run. Everybody here is prepared to fight to the death.

It doesn't take much convincing to get the others to agree to that idea, and soon, the five of you leave West city behind, flying to a wasteland halfway between the city and the approaching power levels. Once there, you simply wait.

You are not kept waiting long.

Within minutes, they appear. Wave after wave of soldiers in battle armor, all of them charging you and your friends.

You can sense the stronger power levels, but they are behind the main group, not exposing themselves to attack just yet.

The soldiers see you immediately and launch their attacks. Energy waves light up the darkening sky as they shoot towards you at top speed.

Selri and Collie avoid a volley of blasts and begin launching energy attacks of their own, incinerating several of the enemy soldiers.

Ragus, as usual, charges right into the fray, ripping his opponents limb from limb.

Onia launches a series of powerful energy attacks that destroy entire rows of the enemies, burning corpses and ashes falling to the ground below.

You shoot through the sky and charge, straight through line after line of soldiers, many broken bodies falling to the ground behind you. Soon, you reach the leaders, and with a series of enhanced strikes, you end their lives.

You turn towards the other soldiers, still locked in a losing battle with your friends. Honestly, they probably don't even need your help.

Onia uses her Onia overload attack, firing a massive barrage of powerful energy blasts that incinerate dozens of the soldiers over the span of a few seconds.

Selri and Collie fight side by side, working together to destroy a large amount of enemies with a mixture of physical and energy attacks.


Ragus takes things slower, destroying each foe with melee attacks. Heads are chopped off, hearts ripped out, chests kicked through, skulls crushed, and many limbs are ripped off.

In less than a minute, the battle is over.

However, you sense something that quickly chases any positive thoughts from your head. You sense the massive power level of Cooler approaching rapidly, too much so for you to outrun him.

The looks on your friends' faces tell you that they sense him coming as well.

"Well now, I somehow doubt that any of you are the Saiyan I'm looking for" he tells you. "However, I get the feeling that you know which Saiyan I am looking for and where he is. So, I will offer you a single chance to save your lives. Tell me where the Saiyan who killed my brother is, and you shall be spared."

None of the others say anything, simply staring at Cooler, who smirks.

"Come now, children, surely you don't intend to do battle with me" Cooler says, barely containing laughter from the idea. "Perhaps you simply do not believe my sincerity or want to protect the Saiyan I am looking for. That Saiyan is doomed, whether you help me find him or not. Let me assure you, I am a man of my word. Now, would you be so kind as to tell me what I wish to know?"
