You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Yesterday wasn’t the most particular fun you’ve had in a while. Tara did get injured, but you’ve accepted that it wasn’t your fault. Accidents happen after all.

After your daily routine of freshening up and getting breakfast, you take a look out the window. Cloudy, but at least it isn’t going to rain anymore. Jeez, last night was a hurdle trying to get dry. You adjust your uniform a bit, and then pack everything up in your bag.

Your cellphone rings however.

“Perrine Hobart”

So gentlemen, the Tiger II.

I say, for the price, considering its comp spec'd already its a bargain, and will be a great team carry or cornerstone to work around.

As an added benefit, if we recruit the Aces and get them in it and make it ELITE, it will wreck shit everywhere.

I say we put it on the wishlist, focus on getting the money for it, and then recruiting the Aces, after we've got it, we can spend whatever money we get onwards upgrading/converting our other tanks and start on getting a good lineup.

Although I agree we should wishlist it for now, I'm concerned that this may be a false advertisement like that Tiger in the first few threads, maybe we'll make a definite decision once we get the dosh.
>>
>>29295383
I can't wait to troll other teams with an elite Tiger II.

Starting with William Adams if we can get the crew and tank fast enough.
>>
>>29295445
That Tiger was pulled down after the firstday. If it still looks legit by the time we get the money, then it's probably the real deal.

“What’s up, Perrine?”

“Gertrude, lovely to hear your voice again. What’s going on?”

“Not much. Just practicing on tanks for the Tournament. You know when your first match is?”

“Yep! Friday actually, it’ll be down in France.”

“Really? This Friday?”

“October 4th against Saunders High School, that’s correct! We’ll be kicking those wannabes back to Japan, you know?”

“Sure, yeah.”

“Anyway, just calling because I honestly forgot to do this. Next time we meet, we should go racing! I got plenty of Hellcat chassis that are left over from the Unlimited Team, not to mention some tankettes, Panzer Is, and BT tanks. Interested?”

“Sure, whenever you got the time, but you know, I’m kinda busy.”

“Of course. Actually, you know Victoria, from William Adams?”

“Yeah- She invited you to dinner, didn’t she?”

“THIS SATURDAY! Hell, we’ll be fine dining and the like in celebration of our victory. Show them what the Unlimited girls can do, eh?”

“Yeah, that’s great.”

“Anyway-“ Another voice interrupts Hobart for a few seconds. “Ooooohh! Gertrude, I gotta go! Our new Excelsior pilot vehicle just arrived! We irreparably broke the first one, mind you, but we’ll do better with the second! Gonna go a bit lighter and try maybe a 105 gun.”

“… Yeah, sure.”

“See you!”

You sigh, hanging up. You open up the door and head out to meet your crew. Nancy smiles, greeting you. “Hello, President! I trust you’re well?”

I think maybe put getting some cash into the treasury before recruiting the aces would be best, no use putting the tank on the wishlist if we can't afford it

but otherwise, that sounds good, once we have it we can form our team around it and not spend so much money, so we can put some back towards the class and other non-tankery related things to win the electrion while still upgrading our tanks

BT and Hellcat chassis, I'm interested.

While this is certainly going to be controversial because certain people are going to take this the wrong way, we should call Audie Murphy for help in our recall elections. Things are already looking chancy, made worse by how many things need our attention. We really need some outside help here, because we really can't afford to fuck this up.

You shrug. “Pas mal as they say in France. What’s up with you guys?”

Nancy says, “Oh, everything’s just splendid, shall we get to school then?”

Despite the sorry state of pretty much everything, school has decided to remain open. You can see students out and about, umbrellas under arm as if expecting another storm of rain. You vaguely remember checking the weather report and noted that it didn’t seem like it was going to rain.

Then again, you’re on Academyship moving full tilt, stranger things have happened.

Lisa says, “So, Boss. Planning on getting much done today?”

“We’ll see,” you say. “I got the play, and from what Fairless tells me, the Recall Election is…” you grit your teeth, cringing at the thought. “The Recall Election is a sure thing. I gotta think about money for our treasury.”

“That’s kind of my job,” says Lisa.

Kitten asks Lisa, “Did you find any fundraising opportunities?”

Lisa shrugs in response. “Nah. This town is tapped. I suppose if you wanted funds, you could whore yourselves out.”

You grin. “Ah yes, prostitution. The oldest profession. I’m sure me and Kitten would make a killing.”

“Trudy, please,” says Kitten. “Not again.”

And a tank, which I think is causing problems for the rifle team, I don't understand why the T-34/76 must be kept unavailable for them while on loan for the play, why not substitute it for a tank we're not using, and they can practice/train/enjoy their actual tank, and not the piece of shit we forced on them because the T-34/76 is on loan for a fucking play

so speaking of funds, what do you guys think of selling the S-35 and the Type 97? they are both relative dead ends and early war tanks quickly made obsolete, we can stick the sewing club in the Pz. A comp.spec Tiger II is suspicious
>>
>>29295785
Ya, in retrospect it doesn't make much sense loaning them the tank at all. Fuck, we're making a comedy of Red Dawn with a bluegrass band! The fucking thing could probably get better reception with a shit-looking plywood tank. Mmm, there'd probably be consequences for pulling it out though.

>>29295835
Ah. Too many names, I just couldn't think of many people that would draw controversy like you said. My bad, I should try to know what I talk about before I speak I guess.

> Consult the Shop

You look over at Lisa. “Hey, Lisa. Would you mind putting the King Tiger on the wishlist?”

Lisa nods. “Sure, it’s a decent tank otherwise.” She pulls out her phone and pulls up Tankslist. Using the drag and drop function, she drags the picture of the King Tiger over into the Wishlist.

> TIGER II (PORSCHE) WISHLISTED

You smile. “Groovy! Maybe we can get some funds for it and we can buy it later.”

“Well, that’s the concept of wishlists,” says Lisa.

Nancy says, “I have to say, it’s quite interesting seeing a Tiger II for that price. But I can understand considering it uses the Porsche turret where the bottom is a total shottrap. A lucky shot there could in theory ricochet through the top armor, then kill the crew and render the tank inoperable.”

Lisa says, “Is there a difference?”

Nancy says, “The Henschel turret has a fully flat turret face, no shot traps whatsoever. That is the more common production turret. The Porsche turret is one of the prototype designs that did see some production but was phased out in favor of the Henschel design.”

You nod. “I see. Is the gun the same as the Tiger’s though?”

Nancy smiles. “It’s a longer 88mm gun, even better than the Tiger tanks!”

With that, you all arrive at the campus. Not much is happening for now, and you’ve got some time before class. What shall you do?

> Read a Book (The Soldier of Tomorrow)

You decide on reading through the book. You head on over to the Library after bidding farewell to your crew, and then sit down. You yawn as open up The Soldier of Tomorrow. You’ve reminded yourself why you don’t really read all that much, and it’s mostly because reading is kind of boring.

But regardless, you’ve got to get through this one thing.

> The Soldier of Tomorrow: Progress: 150%

You stand up and look around, browsing books here and there. You wave to Loretta as she sits down at her own little place. No point in talking to her today, you suppose.

Now that you mention it, you never did browse the Library all that much. Of all things, you’ve managed to find a Kid’s section. It doesn’t look all that different from the rest of the library mind you, but the shelves are up to your waist in all kinds of books like the Berenstein Bears or Arthur or even-

HOLY SHIT.

It's a book found in the Kid's section. I doubt we'd get a perk that's equal or better than the one we got from the cookbook.

“FU-“ You tug on your hair, pissed. “Ugh! Who won?”

Nancy says, “Kursk. It was a real shut out too. Horatio just blundered right into their ambush, and when that first ambush was broken, they wandered right into the second one!”

Lisa nods. “Yeah, Kursk Girls are fucking wizards with casemate tanks. Those ISU-152s pretty much blew the hell out of their Tortoise and Churchills.”

Nancy sighs, a bit saddened. “Shame really. That’s one of the few Tortoises we’re gonna see this tournament.”

“Well,” you say. “Hopefully my Professors are a bunch of cool guys who show the Tankery match.”

Lisa looks at you, skeptical. “And if they aren’t?”

You sigh. “Well, fuck ‘em.”

If we have a list that long we might as well declare we want to upgrade everything.

We have two primary concerns here. Upgrading our tanks for the coming match and the Tiger 2. We need the better tanks to survive the match and the Tiger 2 will only be there for a week and a bit.

Ignoring the Tiger 2 for now, The best upgrades for the match are the AC4 because 17 pdr and the Churchill.

> KV-122 - Both for when it actually becomes available and we get the funds to afford it, so far, FAR into the future
> Churchill VII - More armor, but that QF 75mm is terrible

I dunno, maybe we could put the 25pdr in the Sentinel, and save the 17pdr for the Sherman chassis to make a firefly, or (much later) the Churchill for a Black Prince?

Also, I think it would be in our best interests to get a long Kwk. 40 into the StuG, since it's already crewed.

the one that had 2 25pdrs in the turret had them in a rigid fixed mount, with no gunnery controls at all, it was done purely to test whether the turret ring could take the recoil force of the 17pdr in preparation for the AC IV, seeing as they didn't have 17's at the time, but plenty of 25's

Sorry, I was looking up the tank when researching.

But yeah, I want to make sure it's legit, I'll believe the Tiger II if it was vintage but for it to be Comp.Spec and having (Porche), and the summary for the seller.

I'm a little suspicious, besides having one of our council members looking it up doesn't seem too bad
>>
>>29297145
Well all I see on the shop is the QF 75mm version, then again since we bought the QF Ordnance pack we could just do that.

I say that the Tiger II should be the priority here, because we're working on a deadline and our tanks are pretty well upgraded by now.
>>

>I say that the Tiger II should be the priority here, because we're working on a deadline and our tanks are pretty well upgraded by now.
Yep, and we have a 6pdr we got in that bundle we can put on the church to make is a Mk VI I think?

The Tiger II is the most pressing issue right now, it is time critical and we need to gather the funds for it asap so we can start on getting the aces while working on the recall election

“So, Nancy,” says Lisa. “Anything happen with Fairless?”

Nancy asks, “What do you mean?”

Lisa smirks, tilting her head. “Just saying, you two were alone all night, and she did walk you home and all that.”

Nancy blushes a little, frowning. Lisa takes a sip of her milk as Nancy says, “Are you implying we had sex?”

Lisa chokes on her milk, some of it pouring out of her nose. She coughs a bit, some of it laughs, some of it coughs. “Aghh, Oh goodness.” She clears her throat, wiping her mouth, then says. “No, I didn’t imply that! Just- You know!?”

Nancy says, “I just helped her with stuff! That doesn’t necessarily correlate to sex! If anything she’d probably taste like cigarettes. I don’t like cigarettes, they taste weird.”

Ramirez says, “Why are you wondering what she tastes like?”

Nancy whines. “Ah! Stop it!” Nancy looks over at you. “President, you believe me right? Nothing happened between us!”

As you throw off your shirt, you answer the phone. “Hobart, need something?”

“I’m going to be incredibly, incredibly honest with you. We just used our Excelsior pilot vehicle and it has stopped working.”

“… That fast?”

“We’re fast people! One of our Unlimited girls, Briggs, said to me that we can’t stick a 105 Howitzer on the Excelsior chassis because it’s too heavy. It’d make it too slow. So I said we should stick a gas turbine into the engine, give it a bit of oomph. And in the middle of it, I thought, why settle for a 105mm when we can do a 128mm gun?”

“… So what happen next?”

“Oh, it burst into flames. Nobody got hurt, but unfortunately, the Excelsior got irreparably damaged, so we’ve had to scrap it.”

“You know, Hobart. Those Excelsior tanks are kind of rare, you ever think of going easy on them?”

“Why? They’re just tanks.”

“Well, they’re rare!”

“Oh, there’s always more tanks. Hell, here at Walter Christie, we can just build new ones! Hell, guess what, the ITL cleared the E-100 for use in the Tournament. We’re getting to build the turret and the gun to historical specifications! Isn’t that great?”

“Yeah, gonna use it in the match with Saunders?”

“Oh, we’re working double time to make it for the match. Anyway, Stratton wants me off the phone, we’re busy settling the gun. Talk to you later?”

“HA!” You whack the tennisball clear out of your side of the court and into the opposition’s. That’s another point.

You think. You’re not entirely sure how Tennis works. You think you’re winning though.

The opposing player serves, and you respond with another grunt and a slam of the tennisball. She grunts as she whacks the ball into your court, but you quickly get it before it hits the ground.

Now that you think about it. There’s a lot of grunting involved in Tennis.

With that, you say “Good game” to your opponent and hit the showers. Hanna and Grant talk a little about their respective interests, and you idly listen. Nothing too interesting, though Hanna reassures you that the animation is coming along smooth. Grant meanwhile tells you that Tara is still playing the Banjo even despite her injured arm. That’s dedication right there.

With that, gym is over. Again, nothing really happens in Theatre Class apart from learning how to apply make up. You don’t really pay attention, and instead sit way in the back while Crane and the try-hards just go full fucking mental with it.

History class and French are relatively the same. Surprisingly enough, you’ve not fallen asleep at all. If anything, you’re starting to process information better. There’s something changing about you.

But regardless, school’s over. What shall you do?

“Hey, Octavia.”

You and Octavia walk around backstage quietly as the actors rehearse. It appears blocking has come to them rather well, but dialogue could be… fixed, a bit. You walk over to the T-34, which is now undergoing the final painting to look just like a T-72. You place your hands on your hips, regarding it admirably.

Octavia whispers, “Set and the T-34 are almost finished. We’ve managed to grab the lights we need too.”

You nod. “Anything else you need?”

“Well, I can do most of the work, I mean, we are doing a comedy there’s not much thought we need to put into it.”

> Read a Book (The Soldier of Tomorrow)

You take a look at the last few pages of The Soldier of Tomorrow. You note that there is a lot more to Infantry combat than you ever thought, how the doctrine of infantry has evolved. Yet, the goal of Infantry has always been the same. To take territory, and hold territory. Nothing else can do it quite like the Infantry. However, the book always emphasized that it wasn’t the weapons nor the tactics, but the Morale of Infantry that was important.

> THE SOLDIER OF TOMORROW PERK UNLOCKED: Morale drops can be reversed at the cost of 5 CP. This applies to any situation where morale is dropped, whether for singular crews or for the team as a whole.

You sigh, then put the book back into the backpack. Octavia walks over to you. “So, think we’ll be ready on the 18th?”

You nod. “Oh, rain or shine, we’ll have it definitely. Though, Octavia,” you say. “I’ve been thinking. I think it’s time we get the others on board.”

Octavia nods, frowning. “Of course. Joanna’s been quiet since we got her out of the Hall Monitor’s hair, but I definitely know Kate and Michelle will be… difficult to get a hold of. Who do you want to start on?”

near vertical, not actually vertical, and it depends on what turret WC is actually using, there were 2 planned, the Henschelturm, the one it has in WoT, is the weaker, the Mausturm, is the stronger, with more angles sides, pic related is the E-100 with Mausturm

“So where can we find Joanna?”

Octavia says, “We can find her at the Red Ball Couriers building most likely. I hear she’s gone back to work there.”

You nod. “Alright.” You look over and see Kitten walking up to her, looking embarrassed. “Hey, Kitten! Want to go on an adventure?”

“Believe me, I’ll go anywhere that isn’t here,” she says.

“Great!” You beam. “Right, Octavia, coming with us?”

Octavia nods. “Sure.”

With that, auditions are over, and everyone disperses. You, Octavia, and Kitten leave the campus grounds to the Red Ball Courier Services building. You barely remember helping them back waaaay back. That was only a month ago. Man, how time flies sometimes.

Octavia says, “Joanna’s their best courier. She’s managed to make a lot of deliveries on time, even earlier. Got a lot of big tips that way.”

“Does she?” you ask.

“Indeed! She operates out of a Kettenkrad.”

You ask, “What’s a Kettenkrad?”

“A tracked motorcycle. She uses it to carry lots of packages while still retaining some amount of mobility. She’s a real monster with it.”

You nod. “Ah, I see.”

You arrive at the Red Ball Courier Services Building. You ask the receptionist where you might find Joanna, and she points you in the right direction. You end up in the warehouse you find Joanna, wearing naught but her school skirt and shirt, and a cap designating her a courier.

She looks surprised when she sees you all. “Oh, Gertrude. How are you guys doing?”

You say, “We’re doing good. You?”

Joanna shrugs. “Eh, just working on getting a new delivery out here.” She pats her Kettenkrad. “I got a few more packages to deliver before I’m done for the day?”

“Really?” asks Kitten. “But it’s only 5 O’Clock!”

Joanna scoffs. “Ha! I can deliver lots of packages in only two hours. It’s nothing too big.” She looks at you, then at Octavia. “So, why are you guys here?”

Octavia says, “I think you can guess.”

Joanna nods slowly. “Ah. I see.”

Octavia crosses her arms, frowning. “Now, Joanna. There’s no running from this problem.”

“What makes you think I can’t run?” she asks.

Octavia responds with, “Because me and Gertrude are top of our classes in gym and we could easily catch you if you tried to run. Plus, the Kettenkrad takes a while to warm up so you’re defeated if you go that route.”

Joanna sighs. “Well…” She looks over at you. “Tell you what, Gertrude. How about you go on a run with me? I just have three packages to run. Sound good?”

You nod. “Sure.” You look at the Kettenkrad. “Uh… where do I sit?”

“In the back!”

You nod. You quickly kiss Kitten on the forehead and will to her everything that Griselda isn’t already going to get, then sit down in the back. Joanna starts up the engine, then dons a helmet and some goggles. She hands you a helmet as well, which you eagerly take.

“We’ll be back in a bit!” says Joanna.

The Kettenkrad goes screaming out of the warehouse and out onto the street. You hang onto the sides for dear life. You even the packages which are boxes with you.

“You’re going a little fast, Joanna!” you shout over the wind.

“Am I?” Joanna shouts back. “I’m going a bit slow since I have a passenger!”

“Well,” you say back as Joanna speeds through a greenlight. “You need some seatbelts or straps back here or something!”

“I only keep things in the back I’m not afraid to lose!”

“… Oh.”

Sweet mother of mercy, you’re going to die.

The Grim Reaper however takes pity on you, and Joanna stops the Kettenkrad outside the Junior dorms. She picks up one of the packages from your shaking arms, then runs over to the drop off point. She’s back in a flash and soon, you’re back on the street.

She asks you, “So, Gertrude! This Tankery business! Why are you doing?”

The Tiger II costs $45,000. If we somehow managed to get that much money, keep in mind that for the same costs we can upgrade the Panther to Ausf. G, the Sentinel to AC IV, the StuG III to Ausf. F, and the Panzer IV to Ausf. F.

Now an Elite Tiger II might be worth the money but we also have to keep in mind tactics rather than just grab-bagging whatever tanks look cool. Employing the Tiger II runs into the same problems as the Pershing, indeed worse because the Tiger II's cross-country mobility is even worse. At best that means grouping it with the KV-85 and Churchill as a heavy anvil, although there are teams like Kuromime that will shatter even that block readily enough. Having a core of relatively mobile carry tanks, all in late-war configurations which can take out heavy tanks with maneuver might work out better in the long run than investing into one heavy tank.

If the Panther hadn't already been claimed I'd frankly say it would be the best choice for an Elite, since the Aces' skills would probably be better put to use hunting down the flag tank rather than playing as a defensive anchor.

I don't think that one is tankery legal, might be too late.

And I see your point on the mobile core of good tanks, but thats going to cost a hell of alot more than 45k to get 3-4 tanks to latewar conversions, and we're not even in the first round of the tournament yet, although its drawing close.

We need something we can rally the team around while we're still floundering in the little leagues as it would be, we need something to keep the team together and stand as a flagship for our shittier tanks (S-35, Type 97 etc) and not well upgraded tanks. to provide cover and long range support for their efforts.

I very much agree that having a mobile core of great latewar tanks will do us better against the bigger and meaner teams, but right now, it may be detrimental, and might mean we don't survive to face the bigger and meaner teams

a little expanding on
>we can form a better team around our core heavies

a good mobile flanking force only works well if the enemy is not facing it, the best way to get their attention, is with a rather serious distraction, and a force of solid heavies holding a defensible point is such a distraction, the Tiger II and our heavies hold the enemies attention, while our meds flank and tear them apart

“Can you pull over for a second?”

Joanna pulls the Kettenkrad to the side of the road, then idles the engine. She looks back at you. “What’s up?”

You sigh. “Can you keep a secret?”

Joanna nods. “Of course.”

“And I mean it. No one else knows about it. Okay?”

Joanna tilts her head, then nods. “Okay.”

You look back out at the road. You don’t exactly know how you’re going to say this. So you might as well just say it. “Our school’s getting shut down.”

Joanna blinks. “What?”

“Budget cuts. Our school’s getting the axe to save some money. But, if we can win the Tankery tournament. We might have a shot at saving our school. It’s a long shot, I know, but-“ You’re getting ahead of yourself. You look back at Joanna, who looks positively shocked.

“So…” Joanna scratches her chin. “If you lose the school gets shut down?” You nod. “Hm. Jeez, this is heavy, Gertrude.”

“I know. That’s why I revived the Tankery program. That’s why I want- no, NEED to bring you guys aboard. You’re the only ones with Tankery experience.”

Joanna grunts. “Fuck it, I’m in then.”

> ACE DRIVER UNLOCKED: JOANNA BOLTER

You nod. “Thanks, Joanna.”

“You need any help getting the rest?” she asks.

“Well, if it’s no trouble.”

Joanna says, “Well, this is bigger than any of us, Gertrude. I suppose I can put it all past me. I don’t know if Kate or Michelle will. But, knowing what’ll happen to our school, maybe.”

Joanna starts up the Kettenkrad again. “I’ll drop you off back at the Red Ball Courier Services.”

With that, the drive is relatively silent. You’re not even fearing for your life. It’s mostly spent in contemplation. For both of you.

Joanna drops you off back at the Warehouse. “Right, call me when you need me.” She drives off. You walk back into the warehouse, and find Kitten and Octavia.

That works when the anvil is sitting somewhere the enemy must attack. Since the goal is to kill the flag-tank, that mostly means putting the flag-tank with them. Finding a convenient choke-point on every map is going to be too much luck, I expect. So that exposes the anvil to simply being overwhelmed by opponents with heavy tanks of their own and overall superior skills.

Whereas at least a high mobility force can retreat readily if the situation is unfavorable, and can try to string out a heavier force to go after the flag tank for the win. And an elite crew in a Panther is going to have a lot more luck trying to hunt down a mobile enemy flag-tank than they would in a Tiger II, which isn't going to be chasing anyone down.

“How about Kate. Sound good?”

I would actually be a little reluctant to move the Delinquents since it seems like they are getting more enthusiastic and cooperative. Judging by the last practice their driver is also learning how to handle it really well.

My mistake for focusing too much on the Panther. It is by far the best available medium tank, though, and we should really want another of them more than a King Tiger. I do think mobility is more important here than raw firepower and armor, though, especially since as a practical matter Lafayette is going to be behind most of its opponents in terms of skill and available tanks. I have no doubt William Adams can bring something to the table that can knock out a King Tiger, after all. Avoiding being cornered and slugging it out through maneuver is going to be a much safer route, and to do that upgrading the tanks we already have is probably a better investment than another heavy tank would be.
>>
>>29301391

I agree, but I think that this should come after we've got a couple of matches under our belt and some more panthers and other late war meds turn up for sale, right now, our lineup is fucking shit, and we need something to hold it together RIGHT NOW, and a nonexistent group of latewar mediums is not going to help that, sure what we've got can be upgraded to be great, but we still need more numbers

My concern is here is that that the King Tiger is a time-critical buy, we don't have any indication that we'll get anything good in the next round of choices, wheras we can always upgrade to better machines later on. I also think that raw firepower has its place in a team, just because we don't bring any heavy tanks doesn't mean the enemy is going to do us the same favor.
>>
>>29301681

>>
>>29301620
Luring them into ambushes using the terrain cleverly is probably the best answer there. Especially since they are likely to outnumber Lafayette significantly. The Tiger II is at serious risk of falling behind if the team has to pull out due to the enemy flanking its position, and if it stays behind to cover the withdrawal then it'll have to be written off. Maybe the damage it does would make the stand worthwhile, but it only gets one.

Kate is silent, waiting for you to continue. So you do.

“And you know, you also have to consider what happens if the school shuts down, not just for us students. Kate takes her leave from work, which means all of you head out to dinner. You decide on something everyone can enjoy. Popeye’s.

“So, the school’s shutting down,” says Wendy. Kate nods, having told her of this. Wendy looks at you. “When were you planning on telling us this?”

You say, “Well, I wanted to keep it a secret, but I suppose cat had to be out of the bag eventually. Especially if I wanted to give you all purpose.”

Octavia frowns. “So, this isn’t some way of helping us get over what happened.”

“Well, it can be,” you say. “You just have to let it. I’m sorry for keeping you out of the loop. It was wrong.”

Octavia says, “We forgive you. At least we have purpose, you know?”

You all arrive at Popeye’s. Kate calls Michelle to come over, and you also text Bolter to come by when she can, and she replies with an immediate, “I’ll be there.” You order up some chicken for everyone, then you sit down at a table.

> Read a Book (Achtung, Panzer!)

You crack open the book of Heinz Guderian’s design. The first few parts focus on the development of tanks during World War I, trench warfare, all that. You’ve yet to actually hit anything regarding actual tank doctrine, at least anything useful.

> Achtung, Panzer!: Progress: 10%

Kitten says, “So, just so you all know. We’ve wishlisted a King Tiger in the shop. Might buy it when we get the money.”

Wendy scoffs, leaning back in her seat. “A fucking King Tiger? Are you kidding?”

Octavia looks at her like she’s committed some mortal crime. “Excuse me? Is there something wrong with the King Tiger?”

“Oh, lots of things,” says Wendy. “Drivetrain, weight, hell if this is a late production King Tiger we might even have armor that cracks if you look at it wrong.”

Bolter laughs, she had arrived a few minutes ago. “Hold on, Wendy! You cannot say the armor just cracks like that. It’s sloped, almost impenetrable from the front!”

“Oh, I can dig that, but I’d prefer a tank that actually REACH the front,” says Wendy. “Jesus you’re all fucking retarded.” She gestures to Kate. “What do you think, Kate?”

Kate says, “I dunno. I’m partial to the old German heavies myself. Great ground pressure for such an enormous size, you know? Plus, King Tigers a lot more agile than they look.”

Bolter rolls her eyes. “Typical of the battle couple to agree.”

Wendy bangs her fists on the table. “WHY YOU- Oh, chicken.” Kitten brings the fried chicken down for everyone. Meanwhile, the door opens to reveal Michelle walking in.

Michelle looks over at you all. “Hey, what’s going?”

Well, we've got at least 3 Aces that approve of the King Tiger, Michelle probably also likes it because of the huge fuckoff gun.

Considering their experience with German heavies (and their commander's like for them) I'm going to be voting to stick them in the Tiger II. I rather liked the thematic resonance of them continuing in the Tiger's successor as well.

It makes more sense than Otto Carious's career, going from a Pz. 38(t) to a Tiger I, then a JagdTiger
>>

The delinquents do seem to be getting into things at last, and their driver has promise it seems like.

How about we just wishlist the Tiger II? That should at least buy enough time to earn more money (which we need to do anyway) and should let it remain available through next week. We can then check out the available choices then and see if anything strikes our fancy instead.

So, yeah. Put off the choice and focus on raising as much money as possible in the meantime. Maybe also grabbing another crew or two.

“Sit down, Michelle. We’re doing great!” Michelle sits down at a spare seat, and appears rather uncomfortable that all of her former crew appear to be here, and are arguing about the King Tiger.

“Okay, okay, the long 88 is a good gun, but it’s not great,” says Bolter.

“The fuck are you talking about?” says Wendy. “You can penetrate almost anything with the 43 L/71! Even Jumbos are going to have trouble, even Pershings are gonna balk at it.”

Octavia says, “The L/71 is great. But you know, there’s a better vehicle for it. It’s called the Jagdpanther.”

Wendy rolls her eyes. “Yeah, more like overfuckingsizedtankdestroyerpanther. Are you an idiot, Octavia?”

Octavia laughs a little in disbelief. “You are NOT dissing the Jagdpanther, are you?”

Michelle looks over at you, unamused. “What am I doing here?”

“Michelle,” you rip off some of the skin of a chicken leg. “We need to talk.”

Kate nods. “Listen, Michelle. Gertrude’s bringing us together for a good cause. We want to know if you’re with us.”

Michelle shakes her head. “Oh fuck no. Hell no.” The other three Aces and Kitten all look at her, surprised. “No, you’re not getting me back in a tank. Not after what happened.”

Octavia says, “Michelle-“

“No, Octavia,” Michelle slaps her hand on the table. “I don’t give a shit what reason you’re going to give me. We all swore, hell, and you’re all just going back on it?”

“Yes,” says Wendy.

You sigh. “Look, Michelle, we need you.”

Michelle shakes her head. “No you don’t.”

Kate says, “No, we really do. I’m not going to go into a tank without everyone.” You all look back at Kate. “Michelle, this is bigger than you. You know what I mean, don’t you? The school might not be around next year.”

Michelle pauses. She then decides the table is a far more interesting place to look at.

Wendy scoots over to Michelle. “Michelle, remember when you fired the 88 at that one Sherman our first match?” Michelle is quiet. Wendy sighs, then continues. “Hit them right in the machine gun port. Instant knock out from over a kilometer away.”

Michelle says, “Wendy, if you’re trying to win me over with nostalgia, I have to say-“

Octavia says, “Or what about that shot to the side of that Pershing tank. Tore right through the track and knock it out in one hit. That was right after you praised the Pershing for being unstoppable.”

Bolter says, “Or how about that really lucky shot to another Pershing tank. Right through coaxial gun mount. Instant knock out.”

Wendy smiles. You can’t remember seeing her smile at all. “What about that time you engine blocked a King Tiger, through a building with only the sound of its engine to guide you.”

Kate says, “Michelle. You had a killrate of over 90%. I can’t remember you ever missing a shot unless things were really tight, and even then-“ She pauses a little. “Even then, your shots always counted.”

Michelle crosses her arms, keeping her eyes down. “What are you guys trying to say?” she says quietly.

Kate looks at you. She grimaces a little, then sighs. “Accidents happen.”

Michelle bites her lip, then stands up. “I need to use the restroom.” She quickly walks into the back of the restaurant.

Everyone returns to eating their chicken and conversing quietly amongst themselves. Kitten says, “So, she seems a bit torn about it.”

Wendy says, “Gee you think?”

“Just saying,” says Kitten. “I mean, how long ago was it?”

Kate says, “It happened our last year at Middle School. A lot of us actually got scholarships to go to more Tankery oriented places, we were all kinda split on where to go. Ekins herself even attracted the attention of some guys from West Point. I know she really wanted to go there.”

You say, “And let me guess, the accident?”

Octavia shakes her head. “All the scholarships for her, gone in a blink of an eye.” She grits her teeth. “I’ve never seen someone scream like that.”

You feel a bit pained in the stomach. You cough, then return to your dinner. “So where’s Ekins now?”

Bolter says, “Ekins is back home in Richmond. She’s probably attending school there.”

Kitten asks, “You guys ever talk to her?”

They all say no or shake their heads. Kate says, “We all apologized, then we simply just stopped talking to her altogether. It just didn’t feel right anymore.”

You shake your head. “I don’t particularly remember, but well, can’t be anything good can it?”

Wendy says, “That was an M26E1. Sure, it might not be legal, and I hate the Pershings to hell, but fuck, no tank deserves that.”

Kate looks at you like you slapped a baby. “How could you do that?”

You shrug. “I needed the money.”

Kate says, “Wendy, please. You’re going to give me nightmares.”

You say, “Did I tell you guys what they did with the Excelsiors?”

They all look surprised at you. “What?” says Kate. “What did they do?”

“Well, they tried sticking a 240mm-”

You nod. “Well, that’s well and fine, but I do have to admit. I may have sold an M26E1 Pershing to them, which they plan on using in the Unlimited League.”

Michelle shakes a bit. Everyone scoots in a bit closer. Is she crying?

No. She’s laughing. She giggles at first, but then her laughter starts breaking out. Bolter slaps her knee and starts laughing too, as does Octavia. Wendy covers her mouth, shaking with a bit of amusement as well. Kate smiles, chortling. Kitten leans forward, burying her face and laughing.

You sigh, and chuckle. It’s at your expense yes, but at least Michelle doesn’t seem sad anymore.

Michelle sighs as she calms down. “Oh god. So. You really want me to do Tankery for you?”

You say, “Not just for me, or for your crew. The entire school. Will you?”

Michelle looks over at everyone. They all look at her, understanding, concerned. Michelle parts her lips, then grits her teeth. “I-“ She grunts. “I-…” She balls her hands up into fists, closing her eyes.

Finally, she says. “I’ll do it.”

> ACE GUNNER UNLOCKED: MICHELLE DEWITT

Wendy wraps her arm around her. “Attagirl.” Everyone else claps in appreciation.

“So, girls, think you’ll be ready for tomorrow’s practice?”

Kate nods. “We’ll do what we can. Seems like nothing we can’t handle, after all.”

“Of course,” you say.

Wendy says, “You know. I figure that they’re going to need money to buy the Tiger II, much as I loathe it.”

Kitten says, “We’re working on trying to find some money.”

Bolter asks you, “Speaking of which, what’s your roster like?” Wendy proceeds to describe in detail what your roster is like. Bolter and the rest of the Aces look relatively bemused. “Wow.”

Kate nods. “Jeez. Reminds me of our old school.”

Michelle says, “It’s quite the varied line up, I must say. I mean, we won our matches because we used the Tiger as a carry while the rest sort of sowed chaos. But… their carries are a KV-1S, a Panther, and a Sherman.”

Bolter says, “Are you implying the Panther is bad?”

Michelle shrugs. “Just saying. It could be better. I mean, a King Tiger’s great for area denial, but that’s about it for one thing.”

“You cannot just disrespect the King Tiger like that, Michelle,” says Octavia. “It’s a great tank!”

Kate says, “Well, it seems to be the tank Gertrude has in mind for us. Though I did notice she has a Panzer IV Ausf. C available.”

You nod. “Yeah, why? Want it?”

Michelle looks over you. “You want us in there? It’s actually not that bad of a tank.” Everybody mutters agreements at that.

Ask them what kinda tank they wanna drive, let them roll around the Pz IV till we can get it for them.

“Sure, I mean, just a temporary until we can get you all settled in. That okay?”

They all nod.

> ACE CREW NOW ASSIGNED TO PANZER IV AUSF. C (COMP. SPEC.)

You check the time. 8 O’Clock. “Ah, I think we should all head out.”

Everyone sits up and starts disposing of all the garbage and trash. The Aces idly talk to each other as they do so. You all head out of the Popeye’s, then say goodbye to each other.

Before that however, Michelle has this to say.

“Gertrude, I want you to know. We’ll try our best. Honestly. Hopefully, this coming together won’t be for naught.”

You nod. “I’ll make sure it won’t.”

She nods, smiling weakly. “Thank you.”

With that, you all go your separate ways. You yawn as you and Kitten walk back to the Sophomore dorms. “Well, Kitten. I think we had a very productive day!” you say. “What do you think?”

Kitten nods. “Yeah, it’s great! Really! We’ve got a full ten crew team now. We’ve got a fighting chance in the tournament.”

You nod. “The tournament.”

“Woooo!” You unclip your bra and throw off your blazer. “Man, what a day!”

Kitten nods. “Of course.” She unclips her bra as well. She sits down on your bed. “Now, make me dinner.”

“What-“

“You always do this shit to me when I take you home.”

You pout, placing your hands on your hips. “But- We just had dinner.”

Kitten groans. “Oh, you’re right. Fine, get me some milk then.” You nod, then open the fridge. You pour a glass of milk for Kitten, then walk over and hand it to her. She takes it and sighs deeply. “Woooooo.”

“It’s just milk, Kitten,” you say.

“Yeah, well,” says Kitten, “I think I deserve a treat for going with you all day and having to go through auditions.”

“Is it that bad?”

“Eh, I’m just not looking forward to the crowds.”

You shrug. “I’ll admit, Kitten. Even I get a bit scared when it comes to public speaking. But, you should just do what I do.”

“What’s that?”

“Imagine them in their underwear.”

“… does that really work?”

You pause, hesitating. “Well… no. But hey, you gotta try something.” Kitten rolls her eyes and takes another sip of milk. “Come on, Kitten. Maybe you just feel inadequate?”

Kitten blushes deeply. “I…” She pauses. She mutters out something.

“What was that?”

“… I think my breasts are too small.”

You quirk your brow. “Pardon?”

“You heard me.”

“The fuck are you talking about? You’re more stacked than me! Jesus, you’re so stacked that terrorists are planning on bombing them!”

Kitten crosses her arms, conspicuously covering her chest. “You remember when we brushed our teeth and Nancy was still in the shower?”

You nod. “Yeah, what about it?”

“THOSE were stacked.”

You roll your eyes. “Nancy’s the same size as you. I’ve seen it. Maybe she’s a bit bigger, but come on, what’s breasts got to do with play… things anyway?”

Kitten says, “Well- I mean- The girls in the dressing room are always so worried that they won’t fit into their costumes because their boobs are too big. And like, you remember Middle School how the kids would make fun of how big my tits were!”

You wave your hand. “Hold on, wait a second. So, on the one hand, you deliberately flattened your chest to avoid being made fun of.”

“Yes.”

“Now you wish you had bigger tits.”

“Yes.”

You purse your lips. “Kitten, you need to be a bit more proud of your body. Your tits are fantastic! All kinds of tits are fantastic in the right bra though!”

Kitten sighs, blushing even deeper. “Well… I dunno… I mean- do you want to feel them? Just to be sure?”

This is the thickness the angles create.

UFP = 400mm
> sin30 = 200/h Where h is the Hypotenuse

LFP = 233.3mm
> sin40 = 150/h

Turret sides (Mausturm) = 242.5mm
> sin60 = 210/h

Turret rear = 217mm
> sin75 = 210/h

Side armor is 175mm with skirts

I'm not going to go into the Henschelturm turret because it's awful and nobody in their right mind would go into a battle with shit equipment when better is available.

So, even if the KT was shooting APCR it's only chance is the side of the hull or the rear of the tank. Now it seems simple enough to take out the E100 with a side shot, but you have to remember the E100 (I would imagine) is crewed by other humans, and if they're smart they'll see the KT is the only thing that can actually take them out.
There's no other tank on the team that can take an E100 from the side, the 17 Pounder might manage a rear shot, but all the cards have to go your way.
That E100 is going to take the KT as soon as it can
