Tonight we will continue the story about how Ghosts of Retribution recovered after the Betrayal at Varda and how they prosecuted their enemies for this terrible deed.
>>
Okay so I've compiled a general list of things to do, in no particular order:

Go to Tachion Primaris with the Strongback. Use their testimony to officialy declare Dreifus a heretic and brand the 'Reverent Spirit' and 'Disintegrator' as renegade. Get repairs for Aspera Dominus whilst we're there, there's got to be a shipyard somewhere around the Sector Capital.

Go to Nestorium, we have some things to discuss with Regon.

From henceforth our Techmarines will recruit aspirants of their own accord. Until we have ~50 Techmarines.

Can we exchange favour with the HLoT for Strike Cruisers?

But first, we have to talk with this Saragon Ursus douchenozzle...

And have the rest of our incoming Chapter shown up yet?
>>
so, what's happening to this?

Recent developments:
+All of the forces that you've summoned arrive to Varda. They are too late to participate in the battle and your warriors lament that their ships were not able to bring them faster back home. If you want them to resume their original missions, you'll have to order them again.
+What will be the fate of 8012 prisoners that you took during the battle?
+Do you grant Hannah Dossar her request to claim one of the hulks for her help in the battle? Scitarii Cohorts lost 419 men and killed close to two thousands of enemy troops while fighting in the Green Belt.
+Vardian infrastructure was seriously damaged during the battles, but key industries were unaffected, so your income will remain the same. However population will start declinining rapidly(because of the lack of food, shelter, diseases and the coming tropical winter, when the humidity and heat create terrible conditions) in the next year or so and this will continue until infrastructure is slowly restored. You might either invest in restoring Novomark(this would cost 30(for the destroyed generators) + d100 wealth) or you can wait until private initiative will rebuild the planet.(Varda will get Post-War Decline for 10+d10 years)
+It is now the year of the Emperor 340.M41. Please roll for your income from Varda and heresy loss.

>Go to Tachion Primaris
The journey is relatively calm as warp seems to be more quiet than usual. This is probably a good sign, or at least you choose to believe so. Journey takes Aspera Dominus and Strongback a total of 2+d8 weeks.

>Dossar wants to claim a hulk

Nestorium will be compensated in another manner for sending aid, but we are willing to sell the Tyrant hull in exchange for some things...

The prisoners are to be used as forced labour to rebuild Novomark.

We will offer Dossar the hulk of the Tyrant-class Cruiser Burning Glory, in exchange for a squadron of Hunter escorts and the repairing of the Eternal Purity. A few escorts for a capital ship, is a good trade.

When you arrive to Tachion Primaris, Larion Ursus immediately sends you an invitation to come to his palace:

>Revered Lord Astartes, we have received your letters and we are appalled by the tragedy that has transpired in Varda. You, as our vassal, are entitled to full protection granted by my power as the Lord Sector Governor and I promise you that justice will be served. However your allegations will have far reaching consequences, so I ask you not to take any action until it is sanctioned by the High Imperial Court of Justice and myself personally. This situation is delicate and we must bring those villains to justice in a manner that does not compromise safety and stability of the Sector. I have arranged a three-party meeting at my Villa in the southern sea where you, I and Astrobelus Kest will meet to discuss this urgent matter. Also, please bring all the evidence you have of what has happened on Varda. In addition to that, I will send my personal ship "Arrogant" to Varda with a group of scholars and military experts to access the damage and record the aftermath of what I would essentially label as high treason and attack upon my person.

Sincerely yours,

Larion

You may rebuild Vardan infrastructure for 37 wealth. Would you like to do it or leave to fend for it's own?

+Nerial informs you that he has intercepted a message from Gaius, Ultramarines Leutenant with whom you have met previously.
>Ave, frater. I am being sent to your Sector again, with a mission, however I would like to visit your Chapter's Homeworld and marvel at it's beauty, as I have no doubt that it's no less fine than Macragge itself. Ultramarines believe in brotherhood of all Space Marines, so it's always a priority for us to maintain good relationships with lesser Chapters.

You receive a message, that 6 of your brothers have returned from their mission to Deathwatch. They have been gone for decades, but now they are back, their duty finished. Unfortunately their leader, our best sniper, Elegion, was declared MIA after a mission on a planet of Sabria against a new unseen breed of Xenos. Another 3 of our brothers perished:
1. Durion
2. Jerros
3. Klatergat
(these marines have already been substracted from the total count of marines, so their names only need to be put in to the Book of the Glorious Dead). However the other 6 marines are now Deathwatch Veterans and all of them are very powerful warriors. Also, their Deathwatch superiors gave them a gift...

But as we rejoice in your visit to this sector we can offer you the hospitality of Volkvanger which is almost as beautiful and spectacular as our Homeworld of Mormark. Your men in the Deathwatch have been serving under certain distinguished Sergeant known as Darrion Rauth.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Darrion_Rauth

At the end of their stay, Brother Sergeant gave them his helmet to remember him and to guard champions of the Ghosts of Retribution in their battles. As he was originally from the Exorcist Chapter, who have a famous trait of having close to no warp signature, his helmet was filled with his essence. Whoever wears it, will be almost invisible to warp entities and will receive additional protection from warp attacks.

You find yourself sitting at the round table with two most powerful men apart from you in this Sector - Larion Ursus and Astrobelus Kest. Your marines are waiting outside the door, together with the honour guards of the other two guests, but their battle-scarred armour made a deep impression on those present when they've seen them. Your evidence is enough to prove what happened on Varda, now the time comes to decide what is to be done about it. Astrobelus Kest breaks the silence:
>We spoke with you before this happened, Chapter Master. I warned you that something bad could happen. It is a shame, that I wasn't able to stop it, but neither did I have a hand in it. The men who attacked your planet were part of Ecclesiarchy, yes, but we cannot blame whole organisation or even the Iron Monks faction for this. Dreifus was a rebel and a heretic. I agree with you and Sector Governor, his actions will be condemned and he will be declared a heretic. However before we bring this to the Imperial Court of Justice, to make this official, we must decide on what shall three of us testify, exactly. I am afraid, that you have a heart of a warrior and it seeks battle. If you will attempt to blame whole Ecclesiarchy for this or the pious brothers of the Iron Monks faction, this could have terrible consequences. However I am your ally in this, such heresy must be punished and I want to sate your thirst for revenge. Tell me how can I do that.
>>
>>29240149
I say we play back the tracker occulus recording of that day we met with Kest in the Tachion Primaris cathedral. Of us refusing to ally with him, and the subsequent auger readings of the 'enemy fleet' beginning to approach Varda.

Then play back our call to Kest for aid, and make a note that the 'enemy' fleet was moving towards Varda BEFORE we asked for help. BEFORE Kest claimed to have dispatched the 4th Ecclesiastic fleet.

Then show the playback of Dreifus and the 4th Ecclesiastic fleet appearing on our scanners when the 'enemy' fleet dewarped.

They were always moving against us, even before we asked for assistance. If Kest 'dispatched' the 4th Ecclesiastic fleet before we asked for help, why was it already moving towards us?

-------------
Awaiting confirmation from other players that this is okay.
>>
>>29240332
Furthermore any priest that had a hand in Dreifus' meteoric promotion from preacher to Bishop-Marshall should undergo the Trial of the Blade.

Also mention that the 4th Ecclesiastic fleets ground troops were suspiciously well-geared towards marine killing.
>>
>>29240332
It was moving towards us because Dreifus likely acted of his own accord, and gathered his fourth ecclesiarchic fleet to attack us. We called upon Kest for help, not knowing that Dreifus was moving against us, so he likely contacted the fleet closest to us, that being the fourth, to come to our aid. And so the fourth gained a very handy opening to our defences, to claim it had come as reinforcements, while it was actually the original assailant.

"Lord Kest, I must ask as to why a rebel and heretic was promoted from a lowly street preacher to the commander of a fleet of warships after being chased away from the steps of this world's finest Cathedral by the mere presence of Lord Alexander Kerr?

I fear that the members of the Iron Monks that allowed such a heretic to gain such power in the span of a mere eight years may need their faith tested in a manner that is indisputable by any mortal, something traditional and time-honored. I request that you produce the men responsible so that they may undertake the Trial of the Blade before St. Evangelions' Cathedral, with counts of dereliction of duty and heresy equal in number with the faithful imperial citizens and soldiers slain by Dreifus' heresy upon Varda.

We would be happy to work with the Order of Bloody Tears to ensure that the blades are suitably blessed and prepared to draw the blood of any that knowingly assisted a heretic, while the faithful will be protected by the Emperor."

Astrobelus Kest slightly pales, but doesn't show his emotions. He turns to his servitor and whispers something. Your Occulus whirs and suddenly your view from the augmentic eye becomes distorted.
>I am offended, that you were recording our conversation, but I see your point. Ok, let me be honest with you. At that point I already had a feeling that something might have been already happening, that's why the fleets were mobilised. I wasn't sure who will strike first, you, like you did before, or one of my subordinates. I couldn't risk it. The fact that I sent 4th Ecclesiastic fleet to help you was because it was the one closest to Varda. There was no way I could have known that it was the same fleet which you have noticed before. Dreifus turned renegade, yes, but he didn't inform me of this. I believe, that he wanted to bring me a victory, in hopes that his promotion was justified. Either way, it doesn't prove that I or Ecclesiarchy at large was involved in planning your demise.

>>29240381
>Dreifus was allowed to take care of the troops under his command. I believe that he managed to secure a very profitable contract with the Merchant League to acquire all those specialised weapons. We assumed that he was preparing to hunt that rogue traitor warband which you hardly managed to subdue. And regarding his promotion... Well, he had a patron of some sort, I believe. His way to his office was made of Imperial thrones. Rolling for Kest

>I would decimate the attackers, but I would not burn their planet, because their planet belongs to me. Just so, Ecclesiarchy is our book to read the Emperor's will, and even if some people split from the true dogma, attacking institution is madness. I will not allow civil war to break out in my Sector and will support Arch-Cardinal Kest against such unreasonable demands. However I do want to see justice served and Dreifus' head on a spike.

"I have been openly attacked in a time of weakness, there have been uncensored propaganda against the name of the Space Marine, and you now speak of Civil war? It is at our gate, and we need to act as fast as we can to counter it, both in my ranks, your ranks, and in his."

>I... I agree. For the sake of peace. But if the violence breaks out... You are the only ones to answer for it. I will testify in court that those men were responsible for promoting him, but I doubt whether they will answer to the summons easily, you'll probably need to get them by force.
Larion Ursus doesn't look you in the eye after this.
>So I guess this is agreed. Heretics will face justice at the hands of the marines and Dreifus will have no place to hide. Imperial Navy will receive orders to track him down and bring him to you, by force, if need be. The rest, court will decide, but I am glad that we managed to agree on this. May the Emperor protect us all from what is about to happen.
