You are Arva, the Overlord of the tower in Strongwind.
You gained this title after murdering the previous Overlord with your holy blade, The Savior.
Now that you have gained the throne you realize that the tower itself is in rather poor condition. It has numerous traps but little else in the way of facilities and servants. As it stands only three are with you...
Elyva, a small demoness that has been summoned from another realm by...
Elura, the tower's demonologist. She can summon and bind demons from other realms for a small price of souls or gold.
Finally there is Istur the tower's architect. He maintains the traps and can build new buildings.
After taking count of the tower's resources it appears that there are 12 souls on hand, one 'golden soul', and roughly 200 gold in goods and actual currency.

You have taken the time to rest and now it is the second day of you being Overlord.
What is first on the agenda?

>___
>>
Well if the tower is a wreck lets see about sprucing it up.

I believe we were also looking into immortality.
>>
>>29203806
>Consult Istur about building a giant bath.
>>
>>29203806
Oh, fun! I was looking to join in on this ever since I read the first thread.

Let's take stock of all our new-found treasures, Overlord! Surely the old occupant would have kept some magical tools locked away somewhere?
>>
>>29203806
Summon up some laborers, get them working with Istur to furnish this place. First and foremost, living quarters for us with amenities. Also, a big bath.

Also places to house additional demons summoned, so more living quarters, maybe a mess hall, a kitchen.

Ask Istur for buildings and rooms he would suggest for the near future.
>>
Why am I instead talking to a bleating she-goat?

He left behind quite a few neat little scrolls and potions. He also left behind these goggles that I can not figure out at all. I put them on but nothing seems to happen.

>>29203847
>>29203846

Oh, right! Giant bath. I have that on my To-Do list. Let's see how Istur is coming along with that. Then we shall see about immortality. My necklace grants me a form of immortality but I will still eventually age and wither away.

>Arva makes her way to Istur's workshop. She sees the man yelling at imps as they scramble around a massive empty room that she does not remember seeing before.

"That's not how you- No, stop! That is..! You are all hopeless!" The old man rubs his temples and sigh. He spots Arva standing by the doorway and bows. "Overlord. I'm sorry you had to see this. It has been... Frustrating working with such simple demons. We would normally have a much more competent workforce but our resources are stretched thin and these... Imps are all we could afford. Building with them will be slow and sloppy but they will get the job done for now."

>The man is obviously frustrated and doing his best to restrain himself in front of her but his glances of derision at the imps betray his true feelings

>Ask Eluria to get more competent demons
>Tell Istur to work with what he's got
>Other.
>>
>>29203945
>Ask Eluria to get more competent demons

See how much it would cost to get decent workers up.
>>
>>29203945
"What resources would be necessary to acquire a... more competent workforce?"
>>
>>29203945
>>Tell Istur to work with what he's got

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be big and hot. Hell, natural stone looks pretty good for hot baths.
>>
>>29203945
>>29203979
>>29203983
A good work force is the basis of any dictatorship!

Let's check up on our possible solutions. Perhaps, instead of having to get better imps, we could get some sort of......disciplinary officer? An overseer of sorts? It might be a cheaper alternative to replacing all the imps.
>>
>>29203945
Maybe we can just get some more competent demons and have them herd the imps. It'd be cheaper and we're not really flush on cash.
>>
>>29204008
We could always levy a special tax on the city, to mark the joyous occasion of a new Overlord's ascension.

An overseer, hmm? I like the idea.

"What resources would it take to get a better workforce?"

"Ask Eluria. That woman is the one who deals with such things."

"Very well. In the meantime use who you have. It doesn't have to be perfect, it simply needs to function."

>Arva leaves behind the poor man and his group of imps to go question Eluria. The... Woman(?) is busy studying a massive tome written in demonic runes. She smiles when she spots Arva and nods at her.

"Milord. To what do I owe this pleasure~?"

"I need to know exactly what it would cost to summon at least one competent demon. An overseer for the imps you've already brought forth."

"Hmm hmm... That depends on exactly how good you want them to be. I can summon something pretty good and it would only cost 5 souls, one 'golden' soul, or 500 pieces of gold. I can summon one cheaper, of course, but they will be less effective. Also if you have anything in particular in mind I can customize the summoning for a minor fee. Want them to have wings? I can do that. A dozen horns? No problem. Just tell me what it is you desire, Overlord."

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28938131/ here ya go.
>>
>>29204059
Eyes. Lots and lots of eyes. One for every imp and more besides!

And multiple hands to wallop and hurt!
>>
>>29204059
wings and a nice rack.
>>
>>29204059
How much gold do we have?
>>
>>29204098
200 in goods. we'd have to use souls for this I think.
>>
>>29204084
thanks
>>
>>29204059
The exact shape would be irrelevant as long as the demon is good at directing the imps to work effectively. Maybe multiple hands so it can wield several motivational devices at once... also known as barbed whips.
>>
>>29204059
"... how did the previous overlord make us this broke?"

Wings, a whip, or multiple whips, maybe a nice rack.

We can't do it in gold, and I'd like to keep the Golden soul, so 5 souls.
>>
>>29204086
>>29204087
>>29204123
All of these.
>>
>>29204059
If we are splashing half of our soul cache on this, we should consider making it multipurpose in shape. A form that is good both at controlling the imps as well as serving as a defender. Two tasks which I believe have significant overlap.
>>
>>29204167
Don't forget the nice rack.
>>
Oh, and how cheap are the imps? We may need to expand the workforce eventually, if we want to take on grander projects.
>>
>>29204059
Well, who knew how much we enjoyed nice racks.

Surely you could indulge us in this fancy, Overlord?
>>
>>29204192
We've got a number of imps, although I'm not sure how many we have. Although, I think a single soul or, at least, a body for them to inhabit would be enough to summon one? Lesser demons are happy just to enter this world, anyway.
>>
>>29204206
Maybe Arva is subconsciously (or not-so-) wanting to compensate through proxy?
>>
"... how did the previous overlord make us this broke?"

"Succubi. Now, are we gonna summon this thing or not?" She seems rather excited as she clutches a book in her odd tentacley hands.

"Yes, yes. I think we will have to use our souls for now. We're limited on gold and I'd rather keep the Golden Soul. Hey, what's the difference between Golden Souls and normal souls?"

"The main difference is that Golden Souls are those that are destined to go to Paradise. Clerics, Paladins, those kinds of people. They are completely pure and very valuable. Hard to get a hold of them."

Note to self: Get more of them.

"Now for a demon... I want the demon to have wings, lots of arms to watch people, several arms, and... A big rack."

"Mhmm... Mhmm... You have good tastes, Overlord. It can be done. Would you like to watch?"

"I would."
>>
>>29204206
If we're getting a competent demon we're probably going to be seeing them on a pretty regular basis.

They may as well be nice to look at instead of horrific.
>>
>>29204231
>Succubi
Of course.
>>
>>29204231
Note to self: no succubi
>>
>>29204231
>lots of arms to watch people, several arms
You meant eyes in the first one, right?

>and... A big rack.
Oh yes. We're going to get on swimmingly, you and us.
>>
>>29204231
Does it come with barbed whips or do we have to supply those separately?
>>
>>29204260
Better to use regular whips. We want them to cause the imps pain, not maim them.
>>
>>29204260
Hearing about the previous Overlord's obsession with succubi, I wouldn't be surprised if we could scrunge a whip or two from his bedroom.
>>
>>29204283
true
>>
>>29204260
>>29204283
Amongst.....other things......

Anyway, after we settle our building projects, what's up next on our agenda?
>>
>>29204258
She knows what I meant.

>>29204228
>Arva pays her the 5 souls and Eluria begins the ritual. A book hovers in the air in front of her and she begins to chant. The pages flip on their own and the words glow bright red, their light intensifying with each word spoken. The five souls float into the air for a moment before burning out and vanishing. There is a bright light and the awful feeling of 'something' breaking in the world. Eluria steps back and smiles, a small blush on her face.

"It is done."

>Standing in the center of the room near the Black Gate is a demoness. She is a creature of nightmares with two long leathery wings coming from her back. Four thin but powerful arms flex as she stands and stretches. Her face is covered by a black helm with several black orbs lining the front. Arva gets the terrible feeling that the demon could see her no matter where she were to hide. The rest of her is covered in light armor with the occasional patch of metal protecting what she can assume are her vital parts. On her sides are many whips, some deadlier looking than the others.

"I am Nix. You have summoned me to this plane and given me form. Use me however you wish, master."
>>
>>29204301
continuing immortality research? Best to get that started before we attract guests. We have one type of insurance but its limited.
>>
>>29204319
Report to Istur. Do what he commands you to.
>>
>>29204301
Has the citizens been informed yet that Overlord Arva is henceforth in charge? Perhaps we should make an official proclamation.
>>
>>29204319
"Greetings Nix. Right now you are to manage imps as they build. However you look well suited to... other jobs as well. I am afraid the amenities of this place is lacking however we will be trying to fix that."
>>
>>29204319
There's a bunch of imps that we need to get working efficiently. Go to architect Istur and follow his commands in this matter.
>>
>>29204319
Direct her towards Istur's workshop! Have her discipline and command the imps for him!

>>29204320
Might want to start building up our power base first. Tyrannize the good citizens of this land for some quick cash, eh?

>>29204341
No.

Arva shouted it out from the top of her tower, but.....no one really heard it.
>>
>>29204319
Report to Istur, you will be overseeing the imps in their tasks and he will be telling you what those tasks are.
>>
>>29204319
"It's a pleasure to meet you Nix, I am Overlord Arva.

We will set up your actual living arrangements later, for now report to the architect Istur and report to him. You are to manage the imps, though you'll have other duties in the future."
>>
>>29204319
she sounds lovely. say as much.
>>
>>29204347
>>29204358
We're not actually Arva. We're just voices speaking into her head from a magical artifact. I think we're the Guides?
>>
>>29204335
Nonono, that would grant full control of the demon to Istur, obeying him as if he were us. We don't.... want that.
>>
>>29204369
If you were to ask me, we're probably a bunch of deceased evildoers trapped inside Savior.
>>
we can suggest what to say I believe.
>>
>>29204386
No, not Savior. We're in the necklace, I believe.
>>
>>29204341
No. We need to make a proclamation, a meeting with town officials to hammer out arrangements. We need to set up taxes going to us, us getting the bodies of criminals for demon summoning, making sure the town is in order and there aren't any disputes about who is in charge.
>>
>>29204402
We need to be intimidating, though. What do we have to intimidate? Aside from Nix.
>>
>>29204419
Our magificent self who defeated the previous Overlord. Surely that is a display of strength.
>>
>>29204432
We have Elura who can both terrify and arouse them.
>>
>>29204419
If any of the officials start to disagree we can stab them. Also, we killed the previous Overlord which is pretty intimidating.
>>
>>29204450
> and arouse them
I don't think there's monster fetishists amongst them.
>>
>>29204432
Arva's looking more heroic than evil right now. Sans the red eyes.

>>29204451
How would they know he was killed?

Also, considering how....depleted the previous Overlord's resources are, it might be wise to find out what his reputation in town was before we assume that he was all that feared in this land. I mean. The forest outside of our tower? It's barely blighted at all, is it?
>>
>>29204527
> How would they know he was killed?
Because we say so, and the Overlord they knew isn't lightning-bolting us to ash for saying so.

"Greetings, Nix. For now you are to report to Istur, our tinkerer. He has a bunch of imps that are in need of a strong hand. Follows his orders but remember that I am your true master. Got it?"

"Yes, Master." She bows and... Well, floats, off and goes to find Istur.

>Eluria pats Arva's shoulder.

"Amazing what a few souls can do, hmm?"

"It is. Is there a way to get more?"

"Simply have someone die within the tower. The Gate does the work for us."

"Seems simple enough. Now that the imp problem is taken care of..."

>>29204341
"I think I will introduce myself proper to the people of Strongwind."

>Arva leaves Eluria behind and makes her way down the spiraling tower. She spots Elyva, the small demoness that seems to simply do odd jobs around the place, and summons her to tag along. She can not go far from the tower but the edge of Strongwind is close enough.
>As they walk she asks her of immortality.

"Overlord, I have done research as you asked but there are few ways to obtain immortality. You could always become a lich, if you desired. That is the relatively easiest way."

"I... I will put that under Plan B."

>They soon arrive at Strongwind. Arva stands there, her arms folded, and announces in a loud voice.

"PEOPLE OF STRONGWIND, I AM ARVA THE NEW OVERLORD!"

>The people who are around stare at her. Most of them ignore her.

"... They do not seem to care, Overlord."
>>
>>29204557
Hmmm. What ways are available to obtain troops which will enforce my will, and collect taxes?
>>
>>29204557
Ah. Looks like we'll have to bring up our rep first.

What's the guard like here, in Strongwind? Just in case we get into any trouble.
>>
>>29204557
Maybe you should go to their leaders first.
>>
>>29204557
I'd say kill one for their insolence, but that'd probably get the town guard on us and, despite being the overlord, being ganged up on by a buncha guard might still be lethal.... wait a minute we have that necklace thingy. Who's all for killing one of them for their insolence
>>
>>29204557
The rabble does not interest us. Let us take the issue to whoever is at charge.
>>
>>29204595
Oh yes. That's a start.

>>29204602
Let's get an audience of people who matter first.
>>
>>29204602
I'd say it doesn't do good to our rep if we get killed, resurrection or no resurrection
>>
We should see if any of our current servants knows what that potion we drank was and what it did to our eyes. Also, look in a mirror.

Also, we told our architect to get a bath done but forget to mention the upgrade to the gate.

Question summoner: What benefits does an upgrade to a gate provide? Cheaper summons? Better summons? Both?

Ask summoner if she is capable of leaving her room. We should have conference meetings to discuss things instead of running back and forth. If she can leave then we need a conference room and an easy fast way to summon our minions to there. If not we should set up a desk and chairs in here (after expanding this room) and bring the rest here (we know librarian demon and architect can move about)

Potential Troops:
Demons - Only useful in guarding the tower itself, maybe. Because they get weaker with distance from tower and then poof entirely.
Human mercs - costs gold, which we get through taxes. Good for occasional use.
Human soldiers - costs less gold, managed by home town, loyal to town more then us and at risk of revolt if we allow them to become too numerous and too powerful.
Human conscripts - cheapest, cost only food. Most likely to desert.
Undead - unknown difficulty to manufacture, unknown difficulty to control. Requires research in library. Alternatively, we could summon a demon that specializes in making them.
Monster races - requires research on what types are available. Varied use
Golems - maybe our builder can make some? if not, summoning a demon that can make some is a possibility.
Magically enhanced animals - Take a bear cub, make it magically obedient to you, make it magically stronger, breed a bunch of them.

Time to prove them we are more then the oaf who wasted his wealth on succubutts.
>>
>ELYVA
Elyva is nearly powerless here, and she is an extremely weak demon to begin with, this is a total fucking waste

What actual powers of combat do we personally possess? Can you single handedly take on an entire town? if not then see >>29204706

you goofed, lucky you can just walk away now and fix your mistake without anything bad happening
>>
>>29204726
>We don't have enough souls for an army.
Demons are unisuitable for building an army anyways, see >>29204648

And if we want to harvest souls to build an army we should do so at a smaller village not the biggest town around which is well defended
>>
>>29204715
And we'll have the guard on us for accosting a child.

>>29204727
How? By dragging a child off the streets? We don't have any sort of reputation here at all, so we wouldn't get the sort of reaction we'd want from that act.

Doesn't your dad live in this town? Go visit him.
>>
"Great a volunteer!"

>Arva sprints forward and grabs the child roughly by the arm. With one swing she lifts him up and over her shoulder and begins running back to the tower with him. After a moment of shock the kid begins to yell and pound his tiny fists on Arva but they do no damage. A few of the townsfolk begin running after them but a few well aimed fire bolts from Elyva stop them in their tracks. Once inside the tower Arva slams and locks the door behind them. She throws the kid inside and pants.

Oh man.
That was exciting.

>Before her the boy is starting to cry. He looks to be a lad of perhaps 12 or 13.

Ah...
Fuck.
I think I may have messed up a bit.

>She looks out of a peephole and sees people gathering at the edge of the town. They point at the tower but no one seems willing to enter.
>The boy continues crying.

No, no, this is good. We have an audience. Let it build up some, maybe get some tea in the meanwhile. Offer the kid something to drink.

Once it builds up we can march out with the kid, give an official pronouncement, and then let him go.

No permanent harm, we get to announce stuff from a position of power, and they'll finally give us fucking directions to whoever runs this town.
>>

NOW we're starting to reason like a proper BBEG.
"When in doubt, delegate."

aplogize to elyva, its not her fault, its our fault. (not you either, our)

Spank the child then send him out of the tower.

Wait to see what they do. While waiting, ask your architect if he can build golems.

And ask how much it would cost to summon a demon that can:
1. Infect people with lycanthropy and control them
2. Infect people with vampirism and control them
3. Bind elementals.
etc
>>

ARE YOU READY TO COMMIT AN EVIL ACT?
>>

Wait, we could spin this in our favor. Give the kid a spanking, then show him around the tower, show him the demons serve us. Have him go back and tell people that we are the new overlord and the demons serve us now.

killing a small mob of people is necessary to jumpstart our army. And if our own city is beseiging us it makes an example. Also it won't depopulate it since its a big city and a small mob.

However, I have since thought better of it. its better to do >>29204898 for now. We should look into hiring mercenaries to capture us some slaves for sacrificing for souls and fresh corpses.

It's something to generally avoid doing if you can avoid it, not good for the economy.

Targets outside the town I'm fine with, criminals I'm fine with, but we want a strong economy since we'll be setting up taxes.
>>
>>29204969
which is why i dropped the idea once i came up with a better solution.

Oh shit, I almost forgot. We should get the trade ban lifted immediately.

In fact, instead of just having the kid memorize shit, we should make an official proclamation, sealed with our seal (we need to get one, our engineer can do this). It will proclaim us overlord, lift trade ban, and require towns to build a small embassy near the tower (but not inside it) with people who can advise us on the running of our kingdom
>>
Okay. We can still make this work for the better.

"Ugh... Sorry. This isn't really your fault."

"I understand."

>Arva tries to think of a plan but the kid's constant crying sets her nerves on edge. She glares at him.

>>29204898
>>29204816
>She grabs the kid and bends him over her knee and spanks him. The kid cries harder but eventually just whimpers and sniffles.
>She sets him back up on his feet and stands tall above him, looking down with her red eyes.

"Child. Perhaps you didn't hear me the first time. I am Arva, the new Overlord of this tower. I will show you some things, and then you will go back to town, and tell them about the things you have seen here. Understood?"

>The kid nods.

"Elyva, let's give him a tour."

>She starts it off with a visit to Istur. It appears that since Nix took over work the place is looking far more neat. It is still made out of stone but things have defined angles and look better in general. The boy sees the imps working tirelessly and Istur watching over them. He doesn't seem too frightened.
>Until he spots Nix. Her head turns sharply, at such an angle and speed that surely would have killed a normal man, and watches him with her many covered eyes. She floats closer and closer to him, two whips in hand. The poor boy is trembling in fear and clutches Arva. She simply pushes him aside and folds her arms.

"Come."

>She takes his arm roughly and leads him away from the wicked demon.

>And to something she personally considers far worse.
>They arrive in the workshop of Eluria. The woman is once again reading some old book when they step in. She smiles at Arva but her smile widens further when she spots the boy.

"Oh my, and who is this? A sacrifice, perhaps?"

>She walks over to the boy who is trying to do his best to simply vanish. He is no magician so he only succeeds in curling up into a ball on the floor. Eluria effortlessly lifts him up with her many strong tentacles. A few wrap around his legs and waist, holding him in place even as she takes her hands(?) off of him

"Yesss... I can think of many demons who would like him. Shall I begin the ritual?"

"... Sure. Why not?"

>The boy looks at Arva, his face pale as death, as Eluria drags him away. She pulls out a long wicked dagger and strokes the boy's face.

"Shhhh." She purrs "This won't hurt for long."

>As she brings the dagger down Arva calls out for her to stop. The dagger hands an inch above his chest.

"I changed my mind. We're letting him go."

"Aww... You're lucky, boy."

>She pats his head before letting him go. He quickly runs back to Arva, the person he feels is the safer of the two.
>She takes him back to the entrance to the tower and opens it up.

"No go and tell everyone what you saw here."

>She pushes him out and watches him sprint as fast as his little legs can carry him.

I think that worked out for the better.

3. You are to build an embassy near my tower staffed with advisers suitable for helping me manage my holdings.

Label it as "for the mayor" on the outside.

And then send an imp to give it to a townperson, if they all run from it, have it leave it on the grown at the town gate and then retreat.

>She checks and sees a knight in armor riding atop a horse. The knight gets as close to the tower as the horse will allow before dismounting.

"Overlord!" The knight calls out and lifts the faceplate of their helm. It would appear to be a woman judging by their face and voice. "Oh, hey there. I was actually just finishing up this here list."

"It's a few simple thing. You already recognize me as the Overlord so that settles that. However, I would like to say that the ban on trading has been lifted, so that's good. Also I would like an embassy built right around... There." She points to an empty field. "That way it would be easier to talk about things such as taxes, conscription, and-"

"We will not have another Overlord telling us what to do." The knight says.

>Arva grabs the knight and tosses her into the tower. The knight falls and scrambles to get back to her feet.

>>29205657
>Nix and several imps are by Arva's side and ready to help her out. The Knight draws her blade and swings at the nearest imp, killing it in one swing. She kicks another one hard enough to send him flying and with a backhand strike she takes out another. She is about to bring her blade down on another imp when he sword is suddenly wrenched from her hand. It soars through the air, connected to Nix by a long thick whip.

"You will not hurt the people of this tower."

>Without her blade the knight resorts to her fists. She is able to fell the other imps but against Nix she struggles. With a single whip she snares the Knight's arm and her three free arms begin to pummel the knight. Her limbs may be skinny but they are all muscle and she begins to dent the knight's armor with her blows. The Knight can do little but hold up her free arm to defend herself.

"Let's take her to Eluria."

******************************************************

>Eluria examines the knight in front of her, humming as she pokes her with various arcane instruments.

"It seems we have a Golden Soul here, Overlord. A good find for the first victim of the tower. There is much I can do with it... Do you have anything in particular in mind?"

"I do, but first I need to ask a few questions. First of all what's the difference between a Sacrifice and Possession?"

"With a sacrifice the body and soul are destroyed as a cost for something. It could be a particularly difficult summon or maybe even a spell. The demon would retain some traits of the one sacrificed. Possession leaves the body intact but the soul is completely destroyed. Her soul must be destroyed from within for a demon to take possession of it. She may have a Golden Soul but a good demon should still be able to destroy it. This is quite beneficial because a summon that would normally cost, let's say, souls would only cost the one of the person being possessed."

"If she were possessed would she still look like herself? Still act like herself?"

"Acting is easy enough. The demon would have complete access to her memories. The looks... It's a gamble. It may look exactly like her or she may have a horn. So, what will you do?"

And we can acquire muscle with the golden soul, yes. Souls are used to summon demons, after all. Or power spells. Having another golden soul for either of these tasks would be useful.

Possession, on the other hand, would give us a spy in the town. Perhaps a trusted spy, depending on how highly ranked knights are.

Well......let's go with Possession. We need a foothold in the town anyway. Let's start with this knight.
>>
>>29206050
>3. Are there other ways to hide demonic mutations? such as by summoning a demon who has the power of cosmetic surgery?
to clarify, this is a "if we have her possessed and she grows horns and a tail"
>>
>>29206064
the problem with demons as muscle is that they only have power in the immediate tower's vicinity. They unsummon if they get too far, and become as weak as a human just by going to the nearby town.

This means that they would make excellent tower guardians against invaders, as well as any utility (eg, summon a magic teacher who can teach us magic) but are useless as an army.

... holy smokes, we need to summon a demonic magic teacher who specializes in teaching magic!

"Can we harvest her soul, and still keep her alive? Just to tell her she has no soul?"

"Oh, of course we can! I don't normally completely destroy the body. It's just that most of the time we get the soul because their body was already destroyed by the Tower. However, in that state she will be nothing more than a mindless puppet with little sense of self preservation. She'll do what you ask but there will be no will within her. For humans souls are not just a source of energy, it seems to power their very sense of self. It is quite fascinating."

I couldn't quite hear that last bit but it sounds like you were suggesting lewd things.

"If we harvest golden soul, could it be used to summon a shapeshifter demon that can make itself look like her?"

"It's possible but it would lack her memories and mannerisms. A good disguise at a glance."

"If all I care about is raw power, what is more efficient, possession or sacrifice?"

"Well, it would depend on who was being sacrificed. This little lady here would be quite powerful considering what she is. If you got a bookworm you would be better off sacrificing them."

"Are there other ways to hide demonic mutations? Such as by summoning a demon who has the power of cosmetic surgery?"

"There are ways and most of them are pretty good. However, any spell or surgery has a chance of failing if someone suspects her."

>>
>>29206132
Let's go with possession, guys? We're guaranteed a powerful pawn outside of the tower's influence that way, in the worst case scenario.

What abilities does the possessed gain anyway?
>>
>>29206132
Alright, Possession it is, we need some muscle and a bodyguard. Also, a demon that can travel from the tower without turning into a quivering mass of jelly.
>>
>>29206132
If she 'grows' a horn, there's always her armor. Any outwardly traits have the possibility of being covered up by her armor or additional armor.

A possession is the best option here, we need some breathing room and ability to get someone capable to the town so we can look into subjugating and/or razing it. A possessed body can also be sent out to hire mercenaries.
>>
>>29206132
Possession.

Reasons:
1. In her specific case it will be more powerful
2. All memories retained, can be pumped for info
3. All memories retained, good way to hide her new identity as a demon and pretend we are really dead. - which is more important than a soul IMAO
>>
>>29206132
Okay, sacrifice her and keep her alive. Her soul's worth more than possession, and we get a puppet.
>>
>>29206132
Go for possession.

Hopefully she doesn't look strange afterwards, if she does then at least we have a strong demon.

If she looks normal we can send her back out and use her as a pawn.

We get her memories about stuff which'll be very useful. We might even be able to use her to get the town to work under us peacefully.
>>
>>29206171
And if caught, she could say that when she killed the overlord the tower linked to her as its new master and mutated her. But she refuses to use that evil and will not be an overlord, blah blah

>>29206175
>Her soul's worth more than possession
We were explicitly told that in her specific case possession is more efficient
>>
>>29206132
agreed, possession, let's see if we can't get a demon with similar skills to posses her. Also one that we can be assured loyalty from if that might be a problem. unsure but we've only summoned viah souls and I believe this would be our first possession
>>
>>29206204
I'm not entirely sure about her saying she's the overlord.

Keeping up the deception to the outside world would be annoying and inconvenient. She'd have to be part of negotiations and so on with the outside and we'd have to disguise ourself so people didn't recognize us.
>>
We can try to get her to lure people into the tower with rumors of treasure and what not right?

"Just have a demon posses her. A good one with some fighting ability."

"As you wish, Overlord."

>Eluria bows and pulls out a glass dagger. It hums with foul energy and even Arva shudders when she looks at it. Eluria strokes the knight's face as she brings the dagger close to her chest. The Knight's eyes flutter and open. She gets once glance at Eluria as a terrible realization hits her. Before she can react the knife is plunged into her chest, it's blade sliding through her armor as if it weren't even there. The knight cries out in pain and her entire body seizes. Her mouth and eyes are wide open and she trembles. Eluria keeps the dagger pressed into her body and Arva can sense that a terrible fight must be going on within her. Finally the knight goes limp and Eluria withdraws the dagger.

"Done~"

>The knight stands. Her armor is darker and of a different design but her body appears to be the same. There's just something subtly... Off. Her eyes no longer shine and a cruel smiles rests on her lips.

"I am Krus." The knight says. "Thank you for giving me a new body. It was a tough fight but she was no match for one such as I."
>>
>>29206262
>I'm not entirely sure about her saying she's the overlord.
only if she is found out.
>>
>>29206286
Do you really expect our life to go so smoothly that us not being dead is going to go unnoticed forever?

It'll be a hassle to keep up, I'm guessing it'll get out eventually, and it isn't that useful.
>>
>>29206282
Crap, what was the knights name? You will go by that from now on.
>>
>>29206282
Time for a debriefing. Let's get somewhere comfortable first. Perhaps the library or our throne room. Then we can have Krus spill everything the knight knew to us.
>>
>>29206282
excellent!

Start with pumping for info
Who was she, who are her friends, is anyone expecting her back soon? Does she live in a church or some other consecrated structure which krus cannot enter? any close relative that might realize something is off about her?
>>
>>29206282
>>29206313
ALSO, call Elyva. Have her search for a spell that can cast an illusion or glamor over Krus. Something to make her look more......approachable.
>>
>>29206303
1. We lose nothing from trying to hide it
2. We are not hiding it forever, we intend to expose ourselves on purpose with a smoke and mirrors "magical resurrection ceremony" done by our minons
>>
>>29206282
"Good afternoon Krus. It's a pleasure to meet you.

I'm rather interested in what the Knight you possessed knows. But first let's go somewhere comfier."

Head to a room with coaches or the like, get something to eat, and get an infodump about the Knight and the town from Krus.
>>
>>29206313
agreed, let's not be crass and rude, let's get comfortable, and then pump for information
>>
>>29206313
>Let's get somewhere comfortable first.
I still want to get a war room made so we can summon all our major minion to us and ask them all questions / brainstorm without having to run around.
>>
>>29206342
Another future expansion project for our tower!

What are we having built first anyway? The bath? Or what?
>>
>>29206282
>There's just something subtly... Off
subtle? I don't think gigantic horns count as subtle.

also, those rapier things are HUGE.

ask for a demonstration on how well she/it can act like the knight.
>>
>>29206362
the horns are from the armor methinks from what the description says, and I don't think they're actually that big, they look like giant chopsticks
>>
>>29206362
>her body appears to be the same
Its just a picture the author found on the internet
>>
"Good afternoon Krus. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm rather interested in what the Knight you possessed knows. But first let's go somewhere comfier."

>The two of them make their way to the library, the one room with the biggest couches, and take a seat. Before she asks Krus anything she sends Elyva off to find some sort of glamor spell for her newest minion.

>>29206362
Hey, that's her armor. It's not stuck on her head. I did totally say the armor was different.

"So, tell us everything you can about this knight. Her friends, family, anyone of note that she knows. Is she from a church? Anyone we should worry about that might notice something different?"

"Let me see, milord..." She closes her eyes for a moment. "Her true name was Julie Morgansson. She has quite the family. Uncles, aunts, father, mother, even an older brother. However, I am am confident that I could easily fool them. I am able to replicate her mannerisms perfectly. She was of middle rank within the knights and volunteered to take this mission to help Strongwind. While she may not be top rank she was well liked and had many friends including the Mayor of Strongwind. It would appear that most of the town knows who you are and some of them kind of expected this. Ah, she had a boyfriend. I will have to find a way to destroy their relationship that won't arouse suspicion. Should be simple enough. Is there anything else you would like to know?"

>___
>>
>>29206440
>and some of them kind of expected this
Expected that Arva would have gone to take over the tower? Huh.

Not exactly the most subtle person are you, missy?
>>
>>29206440
Won't that new armor arouse suspicion? Change it back.
>>
>>29206440
how large is the contingent of knights in Strongwind? What information do they know about us and the tower?
>>
>>29206440
>>29206474
Aside from that, what other defenses do they have? Spell casters?
>>
>>29206440
How would they react if we tried to be peaceful?
>>
>>29206440
get the imps to help make a suitable armor to match the previous one. have her get a new official set done, with the excuse that her current one got hit by acid while fighting the overlord.

have her volunteer to help "rehabilitate" Strongwind, since she is seen as a hero and will help moral in the town.
>>
>>29206440
How did the previous overlord manage to keep them from trading with the other towns? Does he have soldiers loyal to him there?
>>
Can anyone bring me up to speed on what's happening?
>>
>>29206512
we don't want to be peaceful.

>>29206513
you mean our engineer.
the imps are all dead (although we can summon more, they are cheap IIRC) and our engineer boasts being able to build anything. He would be perfect for modifying her armor to match what it was before.
>>
>>29206534
>We

Speak for yourself. I want to be peaceful with the town, it's other towns I want to war with.
>>
>>29206534
Not all our imps are dead. Only one. Two injured.
>>
We need a way to communicate with her at range once she leaves, as having her come and go would be suspicious.

Also, what are her abilities (I am assuming fighting is one)
>>
>>29206534
and then bind a demon to the armor, to impart some of it's powers, gotta make sure the armor wont mutate afterwards though. Jot that down for the engineer to know, if making armor to look inconspicuous make sure it wont mutate under demonic influence

Captcha: Charabs discus
Indeed we do Captcha
>>
>>29206534
yeah I suppose. Don't waste too much resources though, we only need it to look like it might be official if it just went through a wash of acid or something. They might catch on if we leave her with fake armor.
>>
>>29206546
peaceful means leaving them free and unconquered.
We want to properly manage all our towns, not burn them to the ground or depopulate them.
But to do that it means conquering them.

>>29206560
i don't think the armor would mutate further if modified.
And if anything, binding more demons to it will just increase the chance of it mutating.
>>
>>29206463
.......
I uhm...
Whatever!

>>29206474
>>29206494
"How many knights do they have? Also are there other defenses I need to worry about?"

"There are 23 knights. They are all officially trained warriors who are quite powerful. Some of the other townsfolk are capable of fighting but are not nearly as strong. They have two magic users in the town. Twins who focus on elemental magic. They appear to have little else in defense as the old Overlord took down their walls and any engines of war."

"So how exactly did he even keep the towns from trading?"

"If he found out that Strongwind traded he would simply summon a rush of meteors or something terrible on them."

"How would they react if we tried to be peaceful?"

"It would be difficult, Overlord, but possible. Having me speaking on your behalf will definitely help. However it appears your actions with the child has caused some mixed feelings. Some are grateful that you did not kill him while others are upset at his kidnapping. The boy himself was happy that you saved him from Eluria."

It seems that they do not have much for defense. 23 knights and an unknown militia are a bit worrying, though. And those spellcasters. As it stands my power is only within my tower besides the one warrior before me...
If I could get Nix or maybe Eluria outside...

"Is there anything else you wish to know, Overlord?"
>>
>>29206595
No, that's all.

For now, we need to set Krus back in town. A glamor to hide the changes in her armor and make her seem more peaceable. And a method of communication between her and us.
>>
One possible plan is to have her convince some knights to come with her on an expedition to cleanse the tower of the demons that inhabit it now that the overlord is dead (citing the child's tale of demons in the tower)

She brings a manageable amount, and backstabs them, maybe poisons them first with something that is nonfatal.
Or make a chloroform trap and lead them into it.
we capture them and get them possessed as well.
>>
>>29206595
No. What should the cover story be? She fought her way out? Managed to make peace with us?
>>
Also, we need to have our engineer modify her armor to match what it was before.
And/or illusion spell
And a spell to communicate with her at range after she leaves to avoid suspcion
>>
>>29206634
She killed the new overlord pretender as everyone watching clearly saw, the overlord is DEAD. she tried to go in and kill the demons too, but there are too powerful, she retreated for now and needs to get reinforcements to cleanse it
>>
>>29206629
I like this idea, but it may backfire and more come with than intended
>>
>>29206595
We don't have much more in the way of souls and gold. Enough for a few demons, not a lot. And we'd be up against 23 knights and some militia.

We either need to get a pile of knights and turn them to our side, or make peace.
>>
>>29206652
I think us making peace with her is better. If anyone objects just say we sent a doppelganger out to parlay with her.
>>
>>29206668
It's believable. No self respecting overlord would actually get killed by the messenger.

Then she can go out saying that we're willing to negotiate and are peaceful.
>>
>>29206668
how the heck is goodly knight going to justify making peace with an evil overlord?

Also, this would reveal we are still alive, everyone saw us die, we should at least have the resurrection ceremony ruse with fake rare ingredients and sacrifices being provided by a captured town.

... i just realized that if we just claimed to be the old overlords servant they would be serving us now instead of trying to kill us.
>>
>>29206708
Because we're not evil? The only thing evil we've done so far (that they know of) is spanking a teenager and scaring him with demons.
>>
>>29206708
She killed a doppelganger, she never killed us, at least that's the story, there's no reason to hide that we're alive.
>>
>>29206727
The sword thinks we're evil. And we just obliterated someone's soul to summon a demon.
>>
>>29206743
I meant more our public image.
>>
I think for now we will go for the 'she killed me and invaded the tower' ruse.

>Arva dismisses the knight, there is nothing else she wants to know for now. Elyva appears with a scroll in hand. She casts a spell over Krus and makes her look exactly as she did before. Even if she were touched it would appear the same.
>The demonic knight is sent out of the tower to spread the word that the Overlord has been killed and of the demons she found within.

>As the knight leaves Istur approaches Arva.

"Overlord, we have finished the bathing facilities. Nix was quite helpful. Also I have done some tinkering and..."

>He hands her a pair of rings.

"With these rings you can communicate long range with anyone wearing the other one. It can work at just about any distance but it can only be given to one other person. I will try to find a way to make more but this will have to do for now."

"Oooh. This will be quite helpful. Oh, crap..." Krus already left and I don't feel like running after her. Well, she'll be back.

Hmm... I think that's all I had to do for today. It is late and the skies are dark. Is there anything left to take care of before I turn in?

I am ALL for good PR, good pr is awesome...

a. Demon magic teacher
b. Demon necromancer who can create and control undead for us (vampires, ghouls, zombies, skeletons, etc)
c. Demon golemmancer
d. Demon beastmaster who can control animals / magical animals, and potentially augment animals (eg, capture wolfs in forest, magic them into dire wolves)

Talk to Eluria or bathe...? Well, may as well do both.

>She thanks Istur again and tells him to next try and work on a War Room and to expand Eluria's room.
>She then summons Eluria and the two of them make their way to the bath. It is massive, with enough room to easily fit 20 or more people at once comfortably. An imp scurries to and fro but other than that it is empty.
>Arva explains that she has some more questions to ask but would love to try the bath first. Eluria doesn't seem to mind.
>As she undresses Arva watches Eluria, a bit curious about how her body works. Eluria's clothing doesn't so much come off but instead... Dissolves away. It appears to be as much a part of her body as her tentacles. Without anything covering her chest her massive breasts hang free, each of them topped with an odd dark purple nipple. Arva's eyes wander down to the demon's crotch and she sees... Well there are squirming tentacles covering anything worth mentioning. Her entire body seems to be composed of tendrils that are constantly shifting and taking new forms. She steps into the bath and lowers herself inside with a content sigh.

"Aren't you going to join me, Overlord?"

"Huh? Oh."

>Arva realizes she's still completely dressed.
>>
>>29206935
This pleases the Guides, Arva.
>>
>>29206935
undress and join her. And then after relaxing a bit ask our questions
>>
>Arva strips and steps into the bath herself. It truly is exquisite and the perfect thing to wash away a day of stress.

"Mmm... So... Eluria, mind answering a few more demon related questions?"

"Ask away."

"How much would it cost to summon a demonic magic teacher? Or a necromancer? Golemmancer? Maybe even a beast tamer."

"Hmm hmm... All of those would simply cost the usual amount. Perhaps 4 or 5 souls. If you pay more I can get better ones. If I had to give them a rank I'd say each of them could be a C for 5 souls. Each additional soul would only make them better. Now, if you were to allow me to posses someone it would cost significantly less but that means you would have to bring in a live body."

"So let me see if I get this straight... 100 gold equals one soul and five souls equals one Golden Soul."

"That's about right."

"If something would cost me 4-5 souls I can instead forget the cost by having them possess someone."

"Mhmm."

"And Sacrifice destroys a body and soul and uses it as fuel for a complicated ritual or spell. Now, can souls be used for the same thing a sacrifice is used for?"

"Not all the time. Some things specifically require a sacrifice."

"Right, okay."

The system seems simple enough. I realize though that this will pretty much either be powered by human death or massive amounts of gold. I either need to destroy an entire kingdom to amass an army or
ah, fuck it.
I'll plot later. Time for relaxing times.
Anything else to ask while I'm here?
>>
Well Arya if you are that interested in her body go ahead and explore it. Maybe ask first though.

>>29207004
That's about it. Let's retire for now.

We don't necessarily need to destroy a kingdom to make an army, though. Slavery and using magic to raise minions would work well enough. Maybe dabble a bit in alchemy to create some chimeras? The possibilities are endless.

>>
>>29207004
>I either need to destroy an entire kingdom to amass an army
Of demons, but due to range limitations no point in bothering.

Our army should be:
1. Golems
2. Magic beasts
3. Undead
4. Conscripts (kept in minority to prevent rebellion)
5. Monster races

If I am not mistaken our current stock is 200 gold, 7 souls, and 1 golden soul. This means we can afford to summon a magic teacher for us + either a necromancer, golemancer, or beastmaster.

So, which of the 3 should we choose for our first summon?
>>
>>29207070
>5. Monster races
do those actually exist? I just realized I was assuming that there are orcs, hobgoblins, ogres, etc around but we never asked.
>>
>>29207070
golems probably, least amount of upkeep I would think. undead are nice but creating and their upkeep are hassles when starting out at first, same with conscripts, aquiring instead of creating.

Damnit, Arva. If you were truly thankful, you'd have kept us on.

Oh well. There's always next time.
>>
I've actually been thinking about how to get a steady trickle of souls.

Become part of the justice system. Anyone convicted of a serious enough crime is sent to the Tower. Should they reach our sanctum they are pardoned.

If they don't. Oh well.
>>
>>29207121
hah there's an idea
>>
>>29207121

>>
>>29207121

>>
If gold is an effective substitute for souls, is there anything preventing is from animating or summoning minions to craft tradeable products to earn more gold to generate more and more minions at an increasing rate?
>>
>>29207121
+1.

BTW, our demon knight has left, we can't contact her, and her orders are to round up some more knights to "assault" our tower.

We should get some non lethal capture traps made since they will probably be more useful possessed then merely killed for their soul by the existing traps.

After that, they can come out claiming to have cleansed the tower (anyone killed was lost to traps, sadly).

They can then round up some bandits or secret away criminals or whatever to get us enough souls to get established.

or they might actually be enough by themselves to conquer the town as well.
>>
>>29207121
We had this plan beforehand, yes.

We could make the tower as sort of Castle Heterodyne; "if you go in and cleanse the tower you'll go free!" thing. With lady Morganna in the system there is that option.
It'd be slow, though, very slow. We are honestly better off simply extending the range of the soul absorbtion magics.

Honestly, I would say using a sort of monster race would be easier because that gets goodwill along with souls.
>>
>>29207163
cut out the middle man, capture gold mines and set earth elementals to mine them.

I am not sure but I think 200 gold is a lot of money. It might take a very long time for such trading golems to pay for themselves. And we might as well set such golems to work for factories in the town...

or we could just tax the towns, again skipping the step of making a product to sell them.
>>
We should also try to find some form of transportation for ourselves? Perhaps start our own menagerie of magical beasts?

I'm partial to creating a chimera to draw a carriage for us.
>>
>>29207104

direwolf mount, upgraded to direbear, upgraded to wyvern, upgraded to dragon eventually.

Or just learn teleportation magic..

... or just acquire teleportation magic. Remember we can summon a demon, and then use some extra souls to steal their powers for ourselves.

Cool.

>>29207196
Reverse engineering is faster than doing things by first principles.

Make a mobile version of our tower, big enough to fit a person in and sacrifice them; it should double as a mobile demon empowerer too since demons need a tower around to be powerful.

You'd be surprised. Lots of folks thought that you needed three pieces of wood and the blood of a mouse to summon Death itself.

It turns out you can summon Death with just two pieces of wood and a piece of cheese.

MAGISCIENCE!

>the old overlord spent all his money on succubi

What happened to all the succubi?

We should be able to use them in a number of ways to draw in weak willed folks -people so entranced might serve willingly having known such carnal desires, and can also easily be sacrificed or whatnot.

Or we could arm the succubi, too.

You can't really buy succubi like you could other demons. Krus, Eluria, Elyva, and Nix are permanently part of Arva's team and only require things like food and drink.
Succubi only stay for a short time before returning to their own realm. They cost a pretty penny and can only ever be rented.

What keeps them loyal to us in the first place?

We just need demons with succubi like powers then, or appropriately sexy bodies.

Or does that run us afoul of succubi unions and make us end up on the feeding list of a thousand hungry succubi?

Can we possess demon bodies with other demons? Suddenly imagining summoning succubi only to kill-possess them to bind them here.

that makes a lot of sense when i think about it.
They probably are owned by a demon cartel that fixes prices to maximize profits. Something that would be less practical with other demonds thanks to humanity's sexual lusts

Loyal is probably not the right word. The demons that are summoned to the mortal plane are those that 'want' to be there for whatever reason. Demons like Elyva prefer the moral realm since in the demon realm they have little powers. Others just enjoy the change of pace. Demons are very long lived and sometimes want a bit of adventure. Someone like Krus probably just wanted to feast on a soul and patiently wait until they can return to the demon realm and be summoned again.
It is possible to have demons loyal to you but it takes a while. They are quite vain and giving them a lot of gifts tends to help their disposition.

Demons can not possess demons. Also succubi don't mind someone summoning a succubus-like demon. It doesn't hurt their profits in the slightest.

earlier our summoner mentioned she occasionally summons a demon and then steals their powers for herself.
And that we could do the same.

Wouldn't doing that hurt our reputation and decrease the quality of demons we summon in the future? Plus depending on the demon summoned could it not get us enemies (if they had an ally or a boss)

So....what would the cost of summoning meteors be?

On this note, how much politicking are you expecting us to do anyway? How in depth are you willing to
>>

It's not very polite but, again, demons. They're not too good with the whole being nice to each other thing.

>>29207608
More than you currently have.

>>29207615
Ummmm... I don't mind it. I'm not too good at it but I won't be against it if that's where the quest goes.

We ought to at least get a fast healing/ regenerationing-y demon power for our little Arva. It wouldn't stop decapitation killing her but it'd stop stab wounds killing her if it wasn't in the heart or severed multiple major blood vessels.

Gotta save those lives and would be a good desperate last measure in a swordfight.
