>The Igniter holds a single charge at a time. When expended, you can immediately activate and fire one Special Weapon - A Tier higher than the one you've currently unlocked. (i.e. With Tier 1 weaponry unlocked, you can fire Tier 2 weaponry - With Tier 2 weaponry unlocked, you can fire Tier 3 weaponry. Meter costs remain the same.)

That is infinitely more useful than anything else on that list. I vote that we get it.

You didn't post the last thread either.

JokerOP, clarification please.

The Igniter only allows a SINGLE shot of the next tier weapons?

Because if that is true, thats not good at all.

The chapel is a hollow, empty place - Rows of rough wooden pews arranged at irregular intervals, in crooked lines. Underfoot, the red carpet is worn, threadbare; A massive iron candelbra suspended on a chain from the beamed roof, blistered by rust.

Outside, the wind moans. The light from the votive lamps, fixed against the yellowed walls, is the only source of illumination - Shedding a sparse, thin golden light, that casts fitful, guttering shadows across the cracked tile of the floor.

It's cold, here. The stained-glass windows rattle in their frames, the wind gusting through the cracks. Outside, vague shapes move: Blurred, indistinct, their half-glimpsed forms sluggish and unwholesome.

Something whispers in the half-light, a hiss like waves breaking on an endless shoreline.

She's there, just like the last time. Her face is turned away from you, towards the looming bulk of the pipe organ; Her pale skin paler than ever, as she traces the cold metal with her fingertips.

"-Regios is going to die first. You need to know that."

There are snowflakes in the sifting tresses of her hair, melting into beads of water.

"I mean...He's going to die soon. Less than a week, at most."

You can't see her face, but her voice is soft, soft and so very, very distant.

[ ] "-All right."

>(Yes: At it's current level, it holds a single charge that replenishes itself at the start of each battle.)

Right.

Thats an upgrade for a one time use item then. Not a good idea, we don't have much problems with short battles. Long drawn out ones will exhaust supplies and make life difficult for RJ.

"Nice to see you again. It's been a while."

[X] "Why are you telling me this?"
>>
>>29125086

(Ah, I see. Thanks for the reminder: I've posted the link now.)

> [X] "Why are you telling me this?"

"Because it's important." she strokes one of the yellowed ivory keys, the sound plangent, forlorn. It seems to echo, in the high-beamed hall - Like whalesong, low and plainitive. It's getting colder: Dust swirling, with a dry, rasping sound - Scudding across the bare ground, trickling from the cracks.

"I thought-"

Her voice catches.

"-if you knew, you wouldn't blame yourself. If you knew, you wouldn't..."

A sigh.

"...miss him."

> [X] "Not on my watch, he won't."

She shrugs, her breath smoking in the cold air. There's a fine layer of dust on the keys.

> [X] "...And what happens to me? Do I die too?"

"Joker - You know that's the one thing I can't see."

Her fingers are long and very graceful, under the long lace cuffs of her cassock; They're an artist's hands, a pianist's hands. There's a stately elegance to her, silhouetted against the light - Her shadow slanting across the floor, black against deeper black.

"There's no time left," she murmurs, almost to herself. "-No time at all. I wish..."

She seems on the verge of saying something more, some revealtion - But then she just shakes her head, the arch of her back tensing.

"Well. I just wish."

[ ] "I don't understand."
[ ] "'Time'? Time for what?"

Tier 1: 0%
Tier 2: 30%
Tier 3: 60%
Tier 4: 100%

What this basically allows us to do is to effectively lower the meter requirement for a single special weapon ONCE, effectively lowering it to:

Tier 1: 0%
Tier 2: 0%
Tier 3: 30%
Tier 4: 60%

While it may not seem very useful for lower tiers it DOES give us the option of using the railgun at at half the normal requirement, as well as our black hole generator at 60% of the usual cost.

>>29125110
In previous battles it has taken us a longass time to build up the necessary meter for higher tiers. Sometimes we don't even get to those tiers. Having the ability to use the railgun (or god forbid, our black hole) earlier than should be possible may grant us an edge in tough battles. Why should we wait until we build up the necessary meter (and suffer damage in the process), when we could just lower the requirements ONCE and deal critical damage to them earlier, without us having to sustain unneeded damage?

>>
>>29125272

Actually I'd rather not use the black hole cannon.

Remember that it destroys essence tok? We'll never get the upgrades we need.
>>
>>29125272
I'm still in favour of the infinity booster, purely because 5 rounds of super joker followed by one round of downtime followed by another 5 rounds of super joker is pretty much enough to end any fight.

Meter is a problem, but it's not like we'd stop gaining it. We have a bit of trouble, but I'm finding it hard to pass up the raw brute force that can be gained through the Infinity Booster and the Carnifex.
>>
>>29125272

Still its single shot. Not like it unlocks it for good.

>>29125374

Well the infinity booster doesnt allow us to use our code bursts so thats a big minus...
>>
>>29125374
I agree. That, and honestly can't see us ever really relying on the Super Mode if we don't have the Infinity Booster to keep us charged.
>>
>>29125292
Longinus Railgun: 15% per shot (unlocks at 30% with the IGNITER)

I'm not seeing a problem with meter costs for the railgun. We'll have enough meter to fire it should it come to that.

You may have something with the Quantum Singularity Cannon though, as it doesn't explicitly state it's meter cost (other than being prohibitive) but I would assume that it uses up all remaining meter available. If that's the case, then that isn't a problem either.

>>29125299
If we're at the point where we actually have to use the thing, I would think that EXP gain is the least of our worries.

> [X] "What *can* you tell me, then?"

Her form seems to waver before your eyes, like a heat-mirage: Or maybe it's your vision that's blurring. "-He won't be the only one," she says, whisper-soft. "They're hurting me, you see? And they'll keep hurting me, until..."

She shudders. A low, moaning sound pulses from her throat - The sound of an animal brought to ground, mauled and cornered.

"Until-"

The walls glisten black in the light. Liquid darkness oozes out from the cracks in the whitewashed brick, fine trickles seeping out around the panels.

> [X] "What am I supposed to do?"

Silence.

>>29125294

> "Kotone, it's me. Whatever it is, you can tell me."

"Who's 'Kotone'?"

She's turning, now. Turning slowly, her face still obscured - The world slow, like glue, like treacle. You can feel your hair stand on end - An icy vise close around your heart, as your pulse begins to hammer in your ears.

There's a sound - A sound on the very edge of perception - A sound that isn't the wind at all-

You don't want to see her face.

You don't want to see her face, *ever*.

"-We don't understand why."

Her voice tunes in and out, like static, like interference. "Why were we left behind? We don't understand why they left us behind." When you listen hard - It doesn't really sound like a voice. It sounds like - Like *other* noises. Other noises, mixed up and glued together to make words.

The noises of the dead city, blended into a mosaic - A sound mosaic that almost perfectly imitates the sound of human speech.

Almost, but not quite.

Almost human, but not human enough.

"They left us behind, and we're hungry. We don't understand why they left us. We don't understand why they didn't come."

Her voice - *the* voice - seems to come from all around. From outside, from the storm. "We don't know who we are any more. We don't know where we belong. We don't understand why they didn't come."

The shadows are moving, now. Twists of night, knotted around you: Vast, braided cables of infinite black, frayed into strands that coil across the chapel - A fractal arterial network, pumping liquid night that smears and writhes and wraps itself around you-

"We don't know where we belong."

Every day for years the questions rang in my head, going around in circles without answer as resentment turned into hate. They couldn't know. What happened to you and I is so far beyond their comprehension that they couldn't imagine it, much less sympathize or help."

"You're what's left, aren't you? The unloved remnants of the old city and it people. Mikogami needed Essence enough to raise the dead, and found--or remade--you."

Your words - They're swallowed up. You have the impression - The faintest impression - of a vast, hungering void; A *questing*, blind and primal, towards the light. You feel the awful, alien weight of the Black Joker's regard-

>>29125692

Your mouth goes numb, slack. You can taste copper, in your mouth - A thick amniotic scent hanging in the air, cloying, oppressive. The tide is rising, now; A viscous black tide lapping against your heels, clotted black liquid trickling down the walls.

-There's a truth to your words. A truth dimly ascertained, on the very edge of your perception: Their meaning hangs in the air, leaden with revelation. It's growing dark, now; Cracks spiderwebbing against the sagging walls, time running out of joint as the moment stretches into infinity...

In the distance, a sound - So tinny, so far away, so muffled.

It starts to get louder, louder, sweeping up through the layers that muffle it, like sound coming up through water, until it becomes clear and loud and comprehensible.

And you wake up.

(Continued)
>>
>>29125772

Beneath you - The mattress is hard, unyielding, your pillow damp with sweat. Your eyes are filmy with grit; Your vision blurred, your throat dry, parched. You're hungry, thirsty - Everything aches.

Your questing fingers explore your face - Finding the bruises, where different flavours of pain pulse through your jaw, behind your eyes. You can feel the beginnings of a migraine - Your hands stiff, hooked into claws, the strain making your muscles twinge as you flex your fingers...

Six years on, and you're still not used to this - The fragility of your body, your *real* body. The need to eat and sleep and breathe, the aches and the sickness and the bouts of weakness-

...So different from a player's form.

You push through the cotton in your head, trying to remember what happened last night. Outside, it's dark; The wind howls, a haze hanging over the city. The storm-

No. Further.

Next to the bed, your handphone buzzes, again - The sound setting your teeth on edge, but it wakes you up a little. The very last thing you did, the very last thing you did before collapsing into an exhausted slumber was-

The storm raged for all of last night - An inky, churning blackness, with the rasping surrusation of grit and ash and sand. Through the window, the gusting winds looked like the black damnation clouds that engulfed Coyctus; Ravenous, crashing waves, churning and boiling - Battering the doors, rattling the windows in their frames...

-In the darkest hours of the night, it sounded like someone was trying to get in.

> [X] Call the Thief.

The phone rang off the hook, again and again - Until the shrill sound merged into one, before the dry *click* of a dead connection.

He never answered.

The neon screen of your handphone glows, the words spidering across your field of vision: Three new messages.

Natsumi -
> Are you all right?
> Don't go outside
> It's not safe

Kazuya-
> Hey, didn't see you today.
> Are you sick again?

And the third-

Palladium Rook. Shuya.

> We meet today.
> Everything's been arranged.
> Are you in?

At the end, a time - Late in the afternoon. A place - The far end of the city, close to the docks. Out of your way, but not *too* much.

You glance down at your watch. The crystal screen is scratched, a deep gouge in the curving surface. It's...10 AM, Saturday, but it looks like it's still dark out. You're losing time again - You're still not sure where all of yesterday went.

At the very least, they should be out of the storm.

It takes him a while to answer. The phone lines are scratchy with static, a blurred, rasping sound that makes your teeth ache. But after what feels like an eternity-

"-Ah, the prodigal returns." Mr. Ebara's voice is calm, measured - Reassuring, despite the distortion. But there's something to his tone...Something that defies identification. It's quiet, where he is - No background noise, except for the faint *hiss* of climate-controlled air.

You can hear the faint *click* of his footfalls - The duller tread of his cane - on the other end. It's strange: He answered directly, instead of routing it through a secretary.

"It's good to hear from you, Anon - After last night, well, I feared the worst." There's a contemplative note to his words, faintly chiding;

"-I was hoping to hear from you, I must admit. After all, I was hoping you could shed light on a recent..."

>>29126403

There's a fractional pause, on the other side. You hear papers shuffling - "Indeed? I'm afraid that Armaros recalls it differently."

Mr. Ebara sighs, ever-so-slightly. "A moment, please. According to his report - He states, quite clearly, that he was only responding to your 'unexpected and unmannerly provocation'...And that he was of the belief that his mission was compromised."

A pause. "-It's quite a turn of phrase."

"Still-" he turns the page, clearing his throat. "...he's nothing if not honest. He goes on to describe the sudden intervention of a third party - And the necessary cooperation that followed."

It almost feels like a performance review.

"-In truth, I think you left quite an impression on him. According to his assessment, you should be approached with 'utmost caution', or with overwhelming force...Neither of which surprises me."

Situationally useful, I think. There are very few problems that a railgun shot could solve that couldn't be solved by the Fusion Annihilator or a chain mine.

The only thing that I can't accept is the Tachyon booster.
I'm not a fan of the handgun, but it might be useful to give it away at some point.
Tachyon Scrander definitely has its uses and I really want spaceflight, but the Red Joker is an agile frame and this device doesn't fit that idea.

Outside, the air is choked with a smoggy haze; The skies filled with sullen black cloud. The storm should've cleared the air - Instead, it only seems to have kicked up great plumes of dust and ash, swirling in the uneven winds. It's cold, but everything seems to have been dappled some shade of grey - Even the snow has a sickly, unpleasant look to it, the distant skyscrapers looming out of the fog.

You can barely *see* anything like this. It's morning, but you couldn't tell it at a glance: The streets are eerily empty, for the weekend - The hot yellow of high-beam headlights doing nothing at all except to make the fog dirty.

It's...a surreal experience. You draw the hood of your coat up, but there's still that ashy taste in your mouth, as your eyes begin to water. Your footfalls are muffled, as you trudge forward in your own personal purgatory, figures emerging and vanishing back into the swirling mists.

The distant sun - It makes everything some shade of red. The sensation is an uncomfortable one; More than once, you have to glance down at yourself, to make sure that you really *are* here - And not in some waking dream.

You're not sure how long it takes you to reach the Hollow Sun. The location isn't *that* far from your home - But time seems to be running out of joint, today. It seems like hours, before you reach that barren street; Nowhere in particular, an empty stretch between two rows of shophouses.

You step into a convenience store, the bright signs glowing in beacons in the gloom. Puffs of dust curl away from your shoes, as the sliding doors swing shut behind you: There seems to be something wrong with the sensor, as the automatic glass panels slide close, then open...Close, then open again, admitting irregular gusts.

The Railgun's real value is being our sole physical ranged weapon. Everything else is energy based.

>>29126859
Not what I was going for. There's no telling how long the meeting will take, and if Anon is losing time again there's the possibility we won't have time to hit up the Hollow Sun before meeting Palladium Rook. Plus it's another step out of the way of the next arc.

>>29126896
>Give away guns
Absolutely not. Red Joker is made for shooting everything, giving away ranged weaponry slows that down.

Pure speed-wise, the Aeon Scrander outperforms the Tempest Scrander, with some prerequisites. Pity about the sharp turns though.
>>
>>29126896
The Aeon Scrander is more agile than the normal one, it even says that. It's acceleration starts lower, but gets better. Higher max speeds.

The big downside is that it doesn't work as well in cramped conditions.
>>
>>29126930
>The Aeon Scrander is more agile than the normal one, it even says that. It's acceleration starts lower, but gets better. Higher max speeds.
The question here is:
Is the slow buildup worth it?
I guess our supermode might make us able to bridge the time gap until the Aeon Scrander gets to full speed.
If we get that thing, we need to look at how good we are at stalling.
Before we get anything, I vote for getting 200% Cobalt Booster to see what the effect is.

When the world blurs around you, receding into the Red, it's a relief.

*********************

STAGE: THE HOLLOW SUN

The Hollow Sun is just as you left it - The great cylindrical shape endlessly rotating, great pylons and girders spanning the impossible construction. Your armoured boots echo against the black tiles of the command chamber: Lit from within by a honeyed radiance, the circuit-pattern tracks pulsing like the steady beat of a distant heart-

-There's someone here.

That's the first thing you notice, as your armour's sensors link to the Hollow Sun's - The sensation of another *presence*, unexpected but tolerated. Through optic sensors, you make out-

The clack of a wrist-mounted keyboard. The faint hiss of acutators and a low, subvocalized mumble, thinking aloud...

Tyrian Edge.

It's not his presence that's unusual - You granted guest access to the Black Tri-Stars. It's *where* he is: You'd expect to find him in the Red Comet's bay, or among the endless rows of the armoury-

He's at the Hollow Sun's heart.

The great column runs through the Hollow Sun, a vertical shaft with a thousand thousand branches - Locked behind great storm-shutters, allowing only the faintest hint of radiance to bleed out. It's unclear if it's siphoning power from the Hollow Sun, or fueling it...But you've seen what's beyond, in brief glimpses.

The gleaming, golden figure, sealed in eternal stasis-

"The Red Joker is a skeleton key. It can interface with most technologies and devices in the Red World, like the Armory Guardian, or my Nihl Sphere. But it's not a perfect match. I'm not the Hollow Sun's true master. There's a Player out there whose Essence is the key to unlocking this place's secrets and truest power. Or maybe it takes a Relic, or a password scorched into a wall somewhere.

"If you've got questions I can try to answer a few, but this is a quick trip. No promises though, I'm not that guy up there."

Weird symmetry actually, this place was built around the golden dude like Holophusikon was Phantom Edge...
>>

Tyrian seems perfectly content to circle the central column - Taking reading with a mystifying array of probes and sensors from his gauntlet. On occasion, he pauses to type something into his wrist keyboard, the clack-clack-clack of keys an accompainment to the low hum of the generators...

He looks up, as the doors slide open - Your form momentarily silhouetted against the light. Tyrian stiffens, just for a moment - You get the impression he's a nervous sort - but he's not *too* startled, a sigh of relief rasping oddly from his speakers.

"Oh, it's just you," he crackles - "...I keep forgetting you can do that."

> [X] "Is everything all right?"

He shrugs. It's a very human gesture, made incongruous by his armour, his lanky form. Tyrian's hollow chuckle echoes in the chamber, as he scratches at his head, in an oddly sheepish gesture.

"You could say that. This place - It kind of runs itself, after all." He turns his head, to take in the chamber. "-I guess I'm just not used to it, yet. It's going to take some time to adjust."

"All those Hellions outside - They make me uncomfortable. Feels like they're watching me all the time..."

> [X] "Find anything interesting?"
> [X] "I hope you know what you are doing. This thing has quite a temper."

"Well..."

In addition to his beam sabers, Tyrian has a Photon Beamer maglocked to his back, next to the flaring barrels of a Scatter Laser - A Maser Emitter and a Ion Blaster clamped to his sides. It makes him look a little top-heavy, overloaded, as he waves a hand at the column.

"-I'm just taking some readings. That's all I *can* do; The security on this thing is..." he shudders. "...I wouldn't take the chance."

"It's...Uh - Yes." His yellow eyes flicker with surprise. "-This whole place...It's not entirely 'real', you see? It's a self-sustaining virtual construct - Like a program, like an image. The Hellions...They can't survive outside the Hollow Sun, because they have a limited supply of Essence."

"Their core...It sustains them, but it can only hold *so much charge*. Once that's gone - They stop existing."

Tyrian taps a finger against his vambrace, with a distinct sound - A *chink* of metal-on-metal. "Player armour - It forms around an Essence signature. It protects you, and you sustain it. That's why when someone..."

He swallows. "-When someone dies, their armour disintegrates. There's nothing to *keep* it here, so it breaks down and disintegrates. That's why Player armour starts weak, and becomes stronger when it's infused with Essence...There's a natural limit, you see? There's only so much power that's available."

IDEA;

I am far too tired to be here, but this just popped into my head. Since the Tri-Stars may sit up shop here for a while, we honestly should give them access to crafting anchors. With the way they operate, they could drop an anchor and bug out or bring back relics to break down. They're another asset for us to use to gather resources for our Cave. They obviously will not work for free, so we need to set up a payment method for them with the Joker Cave's craftable items.

The turnaround may be slow at first, but with them actively placing anchors off-screen while we do our thing, the payoff over time will be enormous.

To use an anchor you have to give up a kill. I can't imagine they'd be too interested in doing that very often.

With the energy currently available to us, we can start some research after we grab our Relics. Apologies if I'm beating a dead horse, but we really, really want the Essence Accumulators. Resource denial and empowerment to the Hellions, and we now know that research options come with side benefits. I'm voting we start that up as we manufacture the Anchor and the Beacon.
>>
>>29127575

>Sun reaches 100%
>It explodes
>everyone shrugs and mutter something inconsequential about Joker being at it again.

>>29127577

We already had plans to drop an anchor in the heart of the BETA hive we're infiltrating so it'd consume the place. We honestly don't know how they work besides they make a REALLY REALLY big bang. Do they eat the stage over time or just the player/corrector signatures?
>>
>>29127611
>>everyone shrugs and mutter something inconsequential about Joker being at it again.
"Another giant world shaking explosion? Oh, that crazy Red Joker! [laugh track intensifies]"
>>
>>29127611
If it makes the bang, it's not gathering energy. They damage soft (meaning living) targets over time, and over longer periods of time destroy the stage.
>>
>>29127476

"Inside there - What the Hollow Sun's forging..." He makes a sweeping gesture, taking in the chamber. "...It's made of - It's made of materials that can't *possibly* exist. There are nanomachine colonies programmed to mimic a substance that is superconductive, yet a perfect insulator - Ductile, but incredibly hard *at the same time*.

"Effectively - The Hollow Sun is creating the ultimate armour. Everything else, here...The Hellions, the Relics, the weapons; They're all...They're all byblows. This is the end result."

"But." Tyrian's breath catches, his voice lowering. "-For it to *function*, when it enters the Red World...The Essence signature you'd need is..." He shrugs, as if words fail him. "-You'll need someone with the capacity to sustain it. A normal Player would..."

He snaps his fingers. "-He'd be snuffed out. His soul would be extinguished, just like *that*. The armour would drain him dry, and then it'd cease to exist. Instantly."

"So...It's the perfect armour, you see? An armour so perfect, no-one could ever hope to use it. Like the sword in the stone, except you only get one chance to draw it."

"As the phrase goes..." Tyrian clears his throat, quoting aloud:

> “Never shall man take me hence but only he by whose side I ought to hang; and he shall be the best knight of the world.”

Alright. That's what I was wondering. I knew from the description the anchors eat essence after the Player is kill, but wasn't sure if it ate the stage itself.

Tyrian's helmet is - As always - expressionless, but there's no mistaking the awe in his voice, as you hold out the Tachyon Generator. "...Holy *shit*." The luminous glow bathes the chamber in light, as the mechanism cycles and circles.

"-Where did you get this?"

He draws a deep, shuddering breath:

The crusher of his helm snaps closed, then open again, in echo of his excitement.

"Look, what I mean is...I think I can make something amazing with it. There are schematics that the Hollow Sun's rejected, you see? Things that aren't *practical*, that it's discarded as theoretical exercises..."

He shuts up, suddenly. When he starts talking again, his voice is slower, more contemplative.

"-I'm saying, with this...I think I can make an orbital weapon."

>>
>>29127864

>>
>>29127864

Replacing the Phase Sword with the Arc Gun was suggested. Beyond that, I don't see any other loadout choices.

>>29127874

Flamethrower. It's absolutely perfect for the situation we're going to be in. Set our heavies up with incendiary weapons to clear out the cannon fodder. The bugs only have one way to come at us.
>>
Light Fusion Cells. We should get two of those. The EMP Gun was hands down the best weapon we had against future hacking Hououin Kyouma and the Arc Gun is a scaled down version of our jetpacks secondary attack.
>>
I vote for this loadout:
- Gladius in case we need to fight AP. It disrupts electronics and AP is likely gadget-heavy. And don't forget that we got a strength increase.
- Pulse Carbine for crowd control. Guys, this weapon has unlimited ammo and an ever-increasing rate of fire when you hold down the trigger.
- One of the heavy weapons. All of them have support roles that will make our lives far easier.

Also, Void Anchor and Arsenal Beacon are together 35%. We have 58%, so we could use another 20% for something.
>>
>>29127932
>- Pulse Carbine for crowd control. Guys, this weapon has unlimited ammo and an ever-increasing rate of fire when you hold down the trigger.

We get that with our standard vulcans and we gain meter. I say the meter gain is more important.
>>
>>29127966
>We get that with our standard vulcans and we gain meter. I say the meter gain is more important.
Our Vulcans have steady rate of fire.
And since when don't Hellion weapons give us meter?

Also, important question:
Do we aim for 200% booster during the raid?
>>
>>29127886

(The Interceptor System is limited by:
a) The number of Interceptors you can control at once.
b) The point value of Interceptors you can control.

Presently, you can control up to five Interceptors at once: However, the different varieties of Interceptor have different costs.

For instance, your current 'cap' is 10 -

Rifle Bits cost 1.5 point each.
Sword and Corsair Bits are 2 points each.
Lucifer Bits are 2.5.
Exitus Bits are 3.0.

Effectively, the system is adaptable enough to host different 'calibres' of Interceptors.)
>>
>>29127975
>And since when don't Hellion weapons give us meter?

I don't recall actually seeing this happen. Does it?
>>
>>29127897
Well, the IMMOLATOR is possible to get. It might be nice to get a burny option that doesn't involve using Booster.
>>
>>29127998

They do give Meter. We shot Ixion in the face, and it built our Meter up.
>>
>>29128006

You sure it wasnt just us taking damage.

Because I don't think we went a round unscathed.
>>
>>29127989
Now that's something we can work with.
Let's look at what kind of interceptor loadout would be best for us.
3 Rifle bits for 4.5
2 Sword bits for 4
So we'd have three bits for distractions and cannon fodder and two for heavy damage and to keep enemies on their toes.
>>
>>29127989

I don't know or remember if it's been covered before, but does twin-linking increase the damage of the weapon? It's something we've never used before just because of the booster cost.
>>
>>29128042

If we have reasonable time between actions, then yeah. We could. We had reasonable time between meeting up with Spaghetti-san at the theater and deciding to give him the blade for instance.
>>
I like to think the Tri-Stars have become desensitized to Joker finding overpowered, reality bending loot. He found a tank in their base. Leaves. The next day he shows up with a zero-sum energy generator.
>>
>>29128042

(Twin-linked basically means you're using two of the same weapon at once. There's a synergy bonus - i.e. It's cheaper to activate two Ion Blasters.)

>>29128086

(Yes, but the time taken is negligible.)
>>
>>29128480

>two of the same weapon at once

Does the Fusion Cells reduce or negate the activation cost of dual-wielding.. say, the Arc Gun?
>>
>>29128480
>(Yes, but the time taken is negligible.)

Right. So if we want to use the upgrade in the upcoming raid, our deadline would probably be next thread.
>>
>>29128518

(I would say that you'd have a reduced cost - Subtract the value of one weapon from the twin-linked cost.

In the instance of dual-wielding Arc Guns - Where one gun has a Light Fusion Cell - the cost would be 10% Cobalt Booster.)
>>
>>29128540

Alright then. That makes sense. So we would require two cells no matter in order to reduce the cost to zero either way.

No cheesing the system now!
>>
>>29128540

How do the Carbines compare to our vulcans?
>>
>>29128579

Faster rate of fire with less armor piercing capabilities I would make the assumption. They don't fire plasma.
>>
>>29128579

(Shorter range, wider firing cone, less stopping power per individual round. Nowhere as good as your Vulcans, but they can fire significantly more shots at close range.)
>>
>>29128621

Thanks. Wanted to clear that up so that I can vote against using the carbines next thread.
>>
>>29128621
Well, that's too bad.

Wait, aren't Correctors generally strong?
The Maser would be best in that situation, due to their stacking effect. Get everyone a Maser and focus fire.
>>
>>29128641
>>29128714

(To clarify, they have better short-range firepower; They're absolute bullet hoses at close to point-blank range, and very suited to a 'run and gun' style of combat. The resulting hail of fire would be quite effective against lightly-armoured or armoured opponents, and sustained fire would quickly shred a target. Each individual shot doesn't do a lot of damage, but they add up quickly.

When fired in short bursts - And using both hands - they're decent at middle range, but that takes a significant amount of self-control.

Your Vulcans have better overall versatility and stopping power, but don't fire as quickly. Given the mass-produced nature of Hellion weaponry, it'd be unusual for the light weapons to be significantly better than your Vulcans - Which have been upgraded several times.)
>>
>>29128753

(Also, I've belatedly realized that the name 'Carbine' may have been misleading. They're really more of a rapid-firing weapon, like an MP5 or an Ingram.)
>>
>>29128776

Is this the correct mental image?

It's decided:
For the next upgrade, I'll vote in favor of Vulcans.

Disregard Satellite, acquire Orichalcum Armour

I really, really want to unlock Gold Joker armour. We need more essence.
>>
>>29127864
Is there any way to convert the upgrades we've purchased for the Cobalt Booster to be compatible with the Infinity Booster? Because that's kind of a dealbreaker. I really want to be able to rely on the Carnifex, but I don't like not having that extra padding on the booster cap.
>>
>>29128849
>We need more essence.
That's why we are about to raid a corrector hive.
>>
>>29128864

Actually, the only real problem is the codeburst.

If we can use it with the infinity booster I think its a done deal.
>>
>>29128892
Not yet.
Infinity Booster means no space-capable Scrander and no orbital bombardement.
>>
>>29128909
do we really need to fly into spees?
>>
>>29128866
Excellent point.

I don't think you understand exactly how much I want to unlock that armour, though. Imagine the possibilities: What if we could add the cobalt booster to it? What if it already has it's own cobalt booster? Is it compatible with the Carnifex? The sheer, raw power it would probably output is barely conceivable.

I really want to show up laughing at Pazazu's doorstep with the player armour equivalent of Excalibur.
>>
>>29128918

YES
>>
>>29128909
Aeon Scrander is kind of a sidegrade. The slow acceleration is a huge loss in mobility because we use the Tempest Scrander to perform quick dodges from a stationary position. We lose that ability with the Aeon Scrander, which has a smooth acceleration curve as far as I can tell.

Basically, when you're using a jetpack to dodge, you want to be able to go from 0 to 100 in no time flat. The Aeon Scrander is better than the Tempest Scrander in every aspect except that one.
>>
>>29128946

I dunno. I dont see any goal we need to achieve with it.
>>
>>29128930

I think it's the armour of Midas that was mentioned here and there. If we're going with the card suites theme, that should be the special one for the Coins suite.

Swords: Fatal Abyss.
Pentagram: The Nihl Spheres?
Chalice: Megara?
Jokers: Red/Black Joker.

That's the odd one out. It's made of gold, and gold is associated with Midas, so the analogy works.
>>
>>29128966
Seconded. When was the duration of the boosterever too short for us ? If we can't finsih the fight before the Booster runs out, that means that we're too weak anyway.
>>
>>29128978
Yeah, I guess, but I really like the sound of Gold Joker. The final word in the Joker Armour series. Black Joker, White Joker, and Red Joker can't even hold a candle to it.

Pls, anon, don't give the OP any ideas. Amalgam was bad enough.
>>
>>29129173

I think Mikogami botched the resurrection. We already know he tried to bring her back, but fucked it up somehow. I have no idea what his master plan was, or what the Smilers are trying to accomplish.

I DO know that they need to kill a lot of people for it.
>>
>>29129090

Do we know that or was that just a projection?

Besides that was in the Red.

>- Gladius in case we need to fight AP. It disrupts electronics and AP is likely gadget-heavy. And don't forget that we got a strength increase.
-The Gladius has a good abilty, but it seems that you are a little too eager to kill He's the least of our worries
>>
The important thing we need to consider is - do we tell Argent about the raid? Our minds may change after we see what he wants to show us, but until then
>>
>>29129664

Why did it cut off? What the fuck?

>but until then, what're your thoughts?
>>
>>29129664
>>29129674

Better not. Palladium rook explicitly told us not to do it.
>>
>>29129664
>>29129674
Fuck no

We're gonna rip and tear that corrector hive and there are probably going to be tons of casualties. AP would try to stop it. Gotta get that essence, regardless of the cost.
>>
>>29129664

You have to wonder. Exactly who is Armaros? He wasn't like the other silver Players we've seen, who are generally weak but rely on group tactics.

He was REALLY tough, almost as tough as us. He could hold his own against a horde of monsters, and more-or-less solo'ed the Manifold Guardian.

That guy is seriously powerful.
>>
We also have an incredibly powerful relic loose in the real or red. I was thinking of tasking the Tri-Stars to investigate the area where Akira unleashed his bankai. Scout it out. Plus we know Spaghetti-san has an affinity for the sword itself. Might lead him to it. If we word it along the lines of preventing such a dangerous artifact to falling in enemy hands, he'd probably do it.
>>
>>29129397
>-The Gladius has a good abilty, but it seems that you are a little too eager to kill He's the least of our worries
You won't be saying that when a post causes him to consider us a threat.
>>
>>29129819
We can make a guess: Part of Argent's old strike force, with years of experience and empowerment by Argent.

Anyway, my call for upgrades is Arsenal Beacon+Void Anchor+Essence Accumulator Research.
>>
>>29130711
>Essence Accumulator Research.
In which of the lists is it?
>>
>>29130780
Hellion Upgrade under the Hollow Sun Guide.
>>
>>29130807

I noticed our tank has the capacity to block comms when upgraded. That could be handy to instill some chaos.
>>
>>29130850
We can grant ourselves the same ability with a Dirge Caster. It's not what we need right now though.
>>
>>29130912
*If* we upgrade the tank, we should do upgrades that make it more long-lived first.
Like the reduced radar profile and the shock field, which would prevent the "enemies latch onto you and you can't shoot them" situation.
>>
>>29130959
That and the Myomer Hypertrophy, for the real Red Comet (red color, three times faster!) effect.
>>
Are we going to try to keep Regios from dying? We've broken one death flag already, but we had rolling successes (and a magic tank-get). Dunno what we can do here.
>>
>>29131992

We'll work with what we have. An easy way to break his flag would be to have him and the Tri-Stars sitting in GARM.

I'm still trying to figure out how we're going to play this. Fire-teams would be the most logical force deployment. One or two teams centered around a Heavy tank player with the rest paired off as forward scouts. They stir up the hornets nest and bring the BETAs back to the ambushes set up by the heavies and mediums.
>>
>>29132131
>An easy way to break his flag would be to have him and the Tri-Stars sitting in GARM.
Only with the "FUCK YOU" shield that kills melee attackers.
Otherwise it will be the same as last time, with correctors latching onto the hull and invading the transport bay.
>>
>>29132224

For the most part, we need him running C&C. He's the lynchpin that's holding this entire op together. If he dies, that means the rest of the cannonfodder will break and run early. We don't need him to survive entirely, we need him to survive long enough for the teams to breach the core.
>>
>>29132305
So will we use the tank as command hub?
If we do, I vote for giving it two upgrades and foregoing the arsenal beacon.
>>
>>29132131
Are we going to have time to set that up? We're not in the chain of command, we're outside moral/fire support. Plus the nature of the mission is entirely inimical to that.

>>29132334
We can't take the tank in with us, there's no telling what the tunnel's size will be.
>>
>>29130100
>Tri-Stars to investigate the area where Akira unleashed his bankai. Scout it out.
Sending the Tri-stars somewhere without support is a nice and certain way to set off Regios death flag.

We tell the Tri-stars of the prophecy and tell Regios to stay out of the Red for a week.
>>
>>29132372
>We can't take the tank in with us, there's no telling what the tunnel's size will be.
I know.
That's why I asked.

>>29132409
>We tell the Tri-stars of the prophecy and tell Regios to stay out of the Red for a week.
That's the best way to set off his death flag.
To prevent his death, we need to be aware of his location without having him in the line of fire.
GARM command hub would work, but we shouldn't involve those three in our cannon fodder army.

I'm still for an upgrade that allows us to defend ourselves when we are completely surrounded.
>>
>>29132131
>paired off as forward scouts. They stir up the hornets nest and bring the BETAs back to the ambushes set up by the heavies and mediums.

That's terrible. How about we stir the correctors with a long-range strike and keep everybody close to Garm, with melee guys on the flanks. Preferably you hose the Correctors with a lot of ranged power before they even close on us.
>>
>>29132409

Meeting time? Meeting time. We have eight hours before shit hits the fan. Better get it over with.

>>29132334

Well, yeah. it might not fit in most of the tunnels, but we can squeeze it down some of the larger ones probably. Having a mobile command hub with the firepower that the Guardian comes with would be stellar whenever we do stir up the shit.

>>29132372

We may not be in the chain of command, but our words should have weight. We've escaped death so many times that anything we say should have some command behind it. If nothing else, the noobs and scrubs will listen.
>>
>>29132491

>not digivolving the Comet into a Chrono Miner
>not burrowing your way to the center of the Hive behind a giant mole machine that teleports

Do you even try?
>>
>>29132491
>>29132499
How about this:
Before the raid, we ask a fwe trustworthy individuals to damage us to build our meter. We can heal, after all.
Once we built meter, we wake up the Correctors.

Though personally I would prefer an attrition rate of 99% for our forces. That would grant us maximum essence.
>>
>>29129700
>Better not. Palladium rook explicitly told us not to do it.
Palladium is an idiot who will get killed in the raid and thus will not be in a position to be mad at us.

Inform Argent, but tell him that contacting Palladium or his renegades before the raid will not work.
>>
>>29132588

Personally, I'd prefer the vast majority to stick to the largest tunnel and head straight for the objective. Our firepower is concentrated. Our half-track has a full field of coverage. Our weapons' cache is centralized in the Guardian's personnel bay for hotswapping on the fly...

...while a small strike team cautiously makes their way through the tunnels slightly ahead of the main force. The sheer amount of bodies and weapons fire should draw everything in the vicinity to them while leaving the small team unmolested.

Of course, that won't happen.
>>
>>29132499
We're meeting Argent Prominence. We don't have time.

Also, we escaped death as a solo operative; everyone in our original party died horribly and probably hating us. The people commanding these lemmings have experience in commanding them. We can provide information about the nature of the lower tunnels, and loadout suggestions.

>>29132717
Again, there's no telling anything about the Hives. The largest tunnels could turn out to be a Corrector's gullet, so all it has to do is swallow and finish us off.

>>29132588
When do you get Essence for kills you don't make?

Also no, that's idiotic. All it takes is one greedy person and everything gets interesting, Chinese curse style.
>>
>>29132802
Yeah, we can help them with guns and our scanning.
But I bet there are players with better sensory equipment already on board.
>>
>>29132802

>meeting with Fumito

Being Joker is suffering. So many subplots and yet not enough time. Tell Tyrian the general gist of what's happening and have him relay the info to the other two would be best. Or have them meet us at the rendezvous with Rook - that is if we're bringing them and the tank.

>>29132829

Course there is. We have Tyrian as the egghead. We have Spaghetti-san as the swordsman. Volt's the Energizer bunny. We're a jack of all trades, master of none.
>>
Okay, how about running with the assumption that the squads are already organized?
We may or may not gift them guns, but how exactly will we proceed?

Hang back and snipe high value targets?
Or are we hanging around and keeping out of the fight until a strong enemy needs to be buttfucked?
How do we manage our ressources?
I'm personally for keeping ourselves healthy for as long as possible, while building meter and booster.

>>29132852
Why would we take the tri-stars with us?
We do not expect anyone (except for us) to survive.
>>
>>29132905

For all we know, this could be Tzeentch level plan put into motion the instant Rook and his team was nommed by the C'hauliflower. Guaranteed the Smilers know something is going down - I would laugh myself stupid if they did not have moles in Argent's organization and did not goad Rook into the course of action. Having a few players we can trust would be a game changer in case they turn.

That is all speculative paranoia of course.
>>
>>29132829
Probably, but they don't have Red Joker's experience with Hive fighting.

>>29132905
Correctors hate Red Joker; we've seen them go after him even with targets of opportunity at hand. We act as a lightning rod. Set off the traps and use the goon squad as sweepers. As long as we don't get pincered we can minimize losses and get the most use out of them.
>>
>>29132588
Excellent idea. I believe my earlier comment on your strategy was unnecessary harsh and uncalled for
>>
>>29133026

Excellent idea. And try to keep that Haze guy alive so he can do his supposedly powerful trick
>>
>>29133238
I think the controllable after-image upgrade might actually be a good idea with this plan.
>>
>>29133306
Redirected upgrade talk.

Watashi, how is force universal?
It's divided into specific weapons.
>>
>>29135263
My mistake, I was thinking of the earlier threads. Might be worth charging up the Vulcans.
>>
>>29135319
I say Vulcans are definitely nice.
Meter would be a very efficient upgrade, but its effect is only indirect.

The question is:
Do we want Evol? The new ability could be all kinds of things.
And better interceptors might make those guys really useful again.
...Or increase the meter usage even more.
>>
>>29135394
With how resource intensive Red Joker is, more meter is always a good idea. Plus, more levels in an option unlocks more options.

OP mentioned a way to get different kinds of interceptors going at once. That could be useful. Evol [Ability] would be a bit of a gamble, but much less of one than Roulette.
>>
>>29135470
I wonder what the next Scrander upgrade does.
Space flight?
>>
>>29135777

That's another reason to side with Fumito. Bitchin' relic creation. I'm curious as to what he can create with the Tachyon generator since Tyrian said he could make a fucking particle cannon.
>>
>>29135777
Not the way it functions now. Probably more speed/accel/and a new function.
