Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=homeless+mutant+questPastebin: http://pastebin.com/UuVeJFigYou are John James Green, mutant vagrant. Slowly, the spirit of Franz Liszt fades from your fingertips, and you open yourself back up to the world. The Tabbycat, all gold and glamour, closes around you, feeling less like reality than some dim, distant underworld. You retract your hands from the grand old piano and tug your gloves back on, fidgeting nervously. You almost wince as, behind you, Miss Hardy offers up a short succession of slow, pointed claps. You swivel around on your seat. “Well.” She stands, pacing toward you. “You certainly are a very talented young man.” She seems quite pleased. It’s hard to tell, though – that little smile of hers is a constant, never slipping. She glances momentarily toward Silvermane, who stares back in half-interested, stately silence. Eventually, he simply nods, and turns back to his drink. “It seems you have the job.” Yes! Fuck yes! “There are, however, a few matters I’d like to discuss. Your natural abilities, for example.”Less yes. “What exactly are you capable of?”>Present Time: 12:35>Current Funds: $145.50>Hunger Level: 6>[ ] “Do you really need to know>”>[ ] “I just look weird.” >[ ] “I can just [insert power].”>[ ] Full disclosure.

You’re not exactly eager to plant any ideas about invisible thieves or super-strong thugs in this woman’s head. She doesn’t seem like the criminal type, exactly, but if you’re reading the signs correctly, she works for Silvermane. And he most certainly is the criminal type – hell, he’s the fucking archetype. “Do you really need to know?”Her reply is immediate and brutally curt: “I do. Anything that could be harmful to my clientele is something I need to know about.” Well, you guess that’s understandable. Annoying but understandable“I’m… well, I can see in the dark, and I’m pretty strong…” She nods silently as you try to offer up just enough of the truth so as to be believable. “…And I can go invisible.” She raises an eyebrow. “I see.” What was she expecting? That you’re radioactive, or something? That you’re actually made of spiders? Actually, you could totally see that. “Relatively inoffensive, I suppose. >[X] “Yes.”>[X] Tips.“Yeah, I can try…” It won’t be easy, especially at first. You can’t be creeping your way into other people’s homes whenever the need to be hygienic comes upon you (that’s really an emergency thing. A creepy emergency thing). You’ll have to head down to the coast to use the public showers, which takes you a little out of your way. “It’ll be a little difficult at first, I mean”– “How you get it done doesn’t matter.” Interrupts Miss Hardy, as you make your way off the stairs, the bulk of the club opening up before you. “Just that you do.”Well, okay.“So…” You can’t help but flinch here. “What about tips? I mean, is there a policy on that?” In the corner of her face still visible to you, her smile lengthens very slightly, curving upward in a barely-perceptible arc. “It’s acceptable. Though, I can’t promise that my clients are the most generous types.” Right, criminals. Her heels clicking, she turns around, rooting you in place with her stare. “Well, that should be all. You can leave your contact details with Kathy – she’s minding the bar.” She turns to leave, heading toward one of the dim little alcoves arching into the side of the club, but glances back briefly: “If you want, you can indulge yourself in a drink, too. Tell her it’s on me.” Her eyes flash over Laura briefly. “And keep the minor away from anything alcoholic.” With that, she leaves you to make your own way out. I feel like we should try to become a mutant rights activist. I mean, we can tell the real story. The story that people like Xavier can't tell. A rich bald guy talking about how oppressed he is is going to gather relatively little pity compared to "My sibling was murdered by mutant haters and I had to go on the move, I was nearly burnt alive but saved by a crime lord who I had to work for. Hobolife was pretty good until I met some younger mutant hobos, one of them being chased by some crazy scientists, the other two ODing on a dangerous drug so I had to get the hit called off and try to detox the both of them. Things were going OK until a 12 year old orphan moved in with us, as well as a mexican teleporting mutant. Then my meagre income couldn't supply our lavish lifestyle so I had to try and play the piano in what I'm pretty sure is a mob joint to feed us."JJ's life story is fucked up.

Sounds like Kevin and Gaby, maybe with some flecks of Layla. You make to get up, but quickly reel yourself in, becoming suddenly aware of the soft warmth nudging against your shoulder. You glance down, and find yourself looking at Laura’s sleeping face. She’s breathing in slow, even whispers of warm air, and you think she might even be snoring a little. >[X] Get up carefully. >[X] Rush to woooork. Right. This going to take some finesse. Stowing your breath, you slither across the couch, using your legs to shimmy your way to freedom. You stop occasionally as Laura stirs slightly, her warmth shifting across your shoulder, but eventually you make your way up without disturbing her sleep. Her eyelids flutter a little and she wrinkles her nose, but otherwise, she remains very much asleep. You guess a proper rest was a long time coming. And, with that, you bolt out the door. You hear hurried footfalls follow in your wake, Kevin crying out for you to wait up, but you can only afford to slow your pace a little, just long enough for him to catch up. There’s little time for morning pleasantries as you both rush your way down and out of the scar, conversation remaining at minimal as you struggle to push your way through the early-morning rush – all you really take in, aside from that he totally forgot about work, is that Gaby is teaching him Spanish now. Which is cool, you guess. You make it to the Bugle a little late, hurrying to grab your papers and go. No time to stop for a chat with Peter - Kevin tells you he might be back late, as he’s gonna go collect some degradables after work, and you part ways. You’re at your spot just in time to see that you’ve missed the initial rush. Curses. >Roll for paper handing

They fly from your grip almost too fast for you to keep count, your stack growing slimmer with every minute that goes by. Eventually, after two hours, you’re done. You’ve pushed it to the limit and reaped the rewards. And you are tired, holy shit. You stoop down at the curb and relax for a moment, envisaging the sweet, sweet sixty dollars that will make all that limit-pushing worthwhile. >(1/2)>[X] Money.>[X] Shopping.>[X] Food. You head off to pick up your money in something of a daze. When you arrive at the Bugle, you smile and node to Vanessa with mechanical absence, the letter churning in your brain. The girl? You wondered who that was at first, but, really, who could it be other than Laura? He doesn’t know about Layla, and he wanted Kevin & Noriko brought to his feet, he’d ask for both. And Gaby? No way, she’s the furthest from his radar. So, Laura. As you head out, you realize that you’ve been clenching your fist around the note. You make a concerted effort to leave it be, a slight sting dancing along your flesh as you feel your nails withdraw from your palms, and resolve to pick up a few supplies before you head back. It won’t keep your mind off the bad news, but it’ll give you something to do other than sit around and feel impotent. You stop by a falafel place for a bite to eat. >(2/2)Why? Does he want her working for him? Probably – if Creeper had his way, everyone would be working for him. But he knows you won’t come back, so why would she? Is she worth money? A chill descends your spin as you consider, for a moment, the possibility that he’s somehow got into contact with Laura’s former captors. Would he hand her over to them? You don’t know… you remember how much pride he took in his mutation, how hard he came down on anyone who dared to look down on him for it… but the Creeper of then is not the Creeper of now. He was different when you started working for him – or, at the very least, he was better at hiding his true face. You don’t know what exactly happened over the course of that year, but by the time you were ready to leave he had become something truly terrible. You head down the highstreet, stopping to pick up a razor and, of all things, a few bottles of shampoo. Hah. Your purchases swinging alongside you, you meander about for a while, taking the long way back through the criss-crossing net of alleys that perforate New York. You feel the fear in your belly wrestling with the pure, seething rage. Your fangs won’t go in. Your claws poke at the edges of your flesh. You know guys, just to point out, it might not be that he wants Laura for her powers and skillset (which he'd have limited knowledge of). >>29009364Yeah JJ! Feel that shame in angry destruction!I was almost expecting there to be at least one fire from electro-punches.
>>29009400He's got a healing factor, so chances are his resistance to alcohol is pretty damn good.
>>29009400His preferred drink is up to you guys. His alcohol tolerance is mediocre. Also, >THREAD 34: ENDNot 24. Silly me.
>>29009435Oh, that's true.He had pretty underwhelming tolerance, but this would indeed have increased it. He doesn't know this, of course.
>>29009442>no Mutie point We just went apeshit with all our powers to the point we fucked ourselves upcmon man
>>29009442I nominate Whiskey or Absinthe. I think when JJ drank, he drank to forget
>>29009435He implied it wasn't before he got healing.>You decide to decline the drink, mostly because you want to be up early tomorrow, and alcohol tends to go to your head. And since we haven't drank in game, this would probably have been before where we didn't have a healing factor.
>>29009491Eh, it was just a short burst. And X-points come from dynamism/daring as much as from using your powers.
>>29009364>you feel a rush of shame at what you've done to yourselfOk, admittedly I just don't understand this, but I take it that venting our frustration in private so as not to accidentally take them out on our friends was the wrong choice?
>>29009497Absinthe is kind of expensive, though? I don't think he could afford that on his hobo years.
>>29009537JJ hasnt been that angry in a LONG time>>29009524Damnit when do we get new mutant powersthis shit is starting to annoy me
>>29009537it was a childish outburst. JJ is the mature responsible one of the group (at least that's what I think) wants to be a good example for the others, even if the others aren't there.>>29009549There was always thievery
>>29009497Whiskey. Cheap Canadian for the painful nastolgia.
>>29009567probably tomorrow, when we potentially do Creeper's last job.patience friend, use this time to go over the power options
>>29009573I'm sure he thinks he's the responsible one too, besides Laura.
>>29009594Dude, last job's tonight. We clock on at 7. Didn't you read the note?
>>29009594>Creeper's last jobYou keep telling yourself that, anon. You just don't 'quit' the mugga life.
>>29009497Whiskey, maybe. Note the e. Likely some form of bourbon, if so.Absinthe is probably a little pricy for JJ.Personally - I vote rum.
>>29009623the next thread is tomorrow you big silly
>>29009537Not really. Hitting lots of stuff is just a childish thing to do.>>29009567Well, you'll get the last X-Point of the chapter when you do something cool. You'll get the new powers opened up when you hit the next chapter. When this happens depends on the choices you make, but at this point it's heading toward you. Like the ground, from the top of a sixty story building.
>>29009623I think other anon means Real Tomorrow, when we do next thread.
>>29009639so... how was Frozen?
>>29009644I'm so excited!
>>29009634Maybe he developed a tasted for pinot noir back when he was in the old Green estate? You don't even have to drink it, it's smell is classy as fuck.
>>29009630Of course not. I expect him to try making an example of use by strong arm recruiting us or murdering us horribly. I expect the former to have more chance of success than the latter.
>>29009668As a kid? Doubt it. Or his parents were pissed when they found out.
>>29009668Maybe, but doubtful.
>>29009697I was just suggesting that maybe he likes a classy drink because it reminds him of home.
>>29009655It was okay. I find Disney's style kinda weird in 3D. It wasn't what I was expecting at all, which was Shrek on Ice: Look at Us, We can be Dreamworks Too. It pokes fun at some of the dumber things in Disney films without ending up cynical, which is good. The snowman was fucking annoying.
>>29009754I don't think he's wanted to be reminded of home for a long, long time. And even then I doubt he would really want to dwell on classy drinks as that would probably be tied to his mother's last few years, her cancer.
>>29009668Nah. If he went for wine, JJ strikes me more the type for Spanish reds than French. Pinot noir isn't exactly widespread over there.Maybe an Argentinian red.
>>29009754If he drinks to forget (a likely reason), I doubt it.Unless, he drinks it, remembers home, and he's a sad drunk. Tears errywhere, blubbering and shit.
>>29009825just like our rolls ;_;
>>29009821If JJ ends up drinking Rioja I will laugh my ass off.
>>29009854Crusty. Is Bob Ross a mutant? Possibly an receptive empath? Or one capable of making feels?
I actually had JJ's first proper encounter with alcohol planned as a flashback.
>>29009890Omega Level empath. His fro isn't actually a fro, it's an emotional sponge.
>>29009906>I actually had JJ's first proper encounter with alcohol planned as a flashback.DO IT.Like if we get beaten to shit and taken hostage or something, have JJ start having flashback dreams.
>>29009920Oh god. It makes so much sense. I'm never going to be able to unthink that.
>>29009920>His fro is an emotion sensor. My god, it makes so much sense. Flat scans are still in denial about it.
>>29009932Oh, I still intend on throwing it at you when the opportunity rolls around. Thread archived, by the by.
>>29009975>Oh, I still intend on throwing it at you when the opportunity rolls around. You better, you glorious man you.
>>29009497Fey La Verte. We is a Lizard Elf, after all.
>>29009932I think we get the alcohol flashback if we A - decide to start drowning our sorrows in booze or B - fuck up so bad that the next thread starts out with the flashback and transitions to us waking up robbed in a back alley.
>>29010011>Mutant reenactment of The Hangover.>JJ wakes up in Genosha, confused as all hell.
>>29010032I'd watch it.>>29009975Crusty, what would it take for you to GM a game of Mutants & Masterminds or Marvel's FASERIP or another mutant P&P?
>>29010032in the smoldering wreckage"oh fuck!...WHAT THE HELL DID I DO?!?!"
>>29010032>Genosha>not Madripoor>not Asgard>not the Shi'ar ThroneworldWeak.
>>29010087Genosha doesn't even exist yet, no?No wonder he's confused.
>>29010087>not hellPleb
>>29010087JJ and the gang need to make it to Asgard for Thor's wedding, but then the bachelor party gets a little out of hand...
>>29010032>Mutant reenactment of The Hangover.>Laura is the super-straight version of Alan>J.J. is Bradley Cooper>Kevin is Ed Helms>Noriko is Doug
>>29010087>>not the Shi'ar Throneworld...I'd forgotten we could get to see the Shiar. How badly would we need to fuck up to get there?
>>29010032Who do we leave in charge of the baby?
>>29010124Noriko is white Doug or black Doug?
>>29010083I had no idea Marvel did something that can be abbreviated as 'FASERIP'. I'm currently running a low power M&M with a bunch of dudes about the slow transformation of a relatively normal world in one bursting with superheroes and the associated weirdness,
>>29010132Party with Thor, Herc, and Logan with all of the booze. All of it.Also, much higher healing factor is needed.
>>29010142>Noriko is white Doug or black Doug?White Doug.Black Doug can be Layla. Or Joyce.
>>29010150Marvel Superheroes RPG, I think is the print title, but more commonly known as FASERIP since that's the acronym its attributes are ordered in. (Like SPECIAL!)Please let me play. Daddy needs his medicine so very, very badly.
>>29010150Its an old ass system for a marvel rpg. I hear its simple.available where ever bays of pirates are
>>29010106Genosha existed. This seems to come up in 1/2 of these threads, but it was around until Erik dropped Asteroid M on it.>>29010152Herc can never appear, as I would have to railroad you guys into Homo End. His gravity is just too strong.
>>29010222I'm probably speaking for myself but I am A-OK with Herc End.
>>29010222I am entirely fine with Herc stopping by then deciding that this quest isn't worthy of his stature and gravitas and hoping off to do Big things more befitting the god of strength. Maybe a Bugle update as to his escapades every once in a while. Whatever, not even remotely a dealbreaker.Maybe we could just run into Sorbo instead?
>>29010222>This seems to come up in 1/2 of these threadsmaybe you should make a pastebin of current events/ things people keep forgettingand has JJ ever seen a sentinel up close?
>>29010222Nooooo, but yeah, even Herc would go after the Lizard Elf. And JJ can do nothing about it.
>>29009567>JJ hasnt been that angry in a LONG timeMind giving us a flashback to when he was that mad before?
>>29010302I should really expand on the Bugle articles. I'd planned of writing out full articles for each issue, I just haven't found the time.>>29010311Mebbe I should. Also, nah. He's only seen them from afar.
>>29010382the tourists/random people he used to jump and beat up/mug.wanna say a flashback in thread 19 or 20
>>29010383Maybe if we're lucky a writefag could make an article that fits your approval. Then we could hear what they write about us.
>>29010399>the tourists/random people he used to jump and beat up/mug.Not that mad.>wanna say a flashback in thread 19 or 20That may be what he was referring to, but I don't think so. I could be wrong, however.
>>29010412Um, I think CJ should handle any articles written about us. That stuff's usually PLOT...
>>29010412I..I could give it a try maybe. anything in particular you want/ I should know?
>>29010436He took out alot of his anger about his family dying when he first started with creeperits only more serious now because we have super strength and claws and fangs
>>29010484Maybe a combination of anti mutant propaganda and Stark PR blitzing? Dunno, have fun and maybe throw the Defenders into the mix.
>>29010518also spiderman hate
>>29010494Well, we did used to have a 2x4... Yeah, there's no comparison, we need to be careful now.
>>29010530Nah, that's mostly restricted to the one paper that liked us.
>>29010518I'd probably stick to solo hero shenanigans, I don't wanna botch team rosters. also fight off the urge to write it from a "I can't believe its not" Hunter S Thompson expy/rip off
>>29010458Hence why I said CJ seal of approval. Someone could post one as a bump, if Crusty likes it, it might become canon.
>>29010618Who is CJ?
>>29010584That. Would be. The best possible thing.I kinda want to see Spider Jerusalem do an article (with photos be Parker, not this one because he's Ultimate)....Damnit, I'd want to see how that entire thing played out.
>>29010484Go ahead and do as you like. I guess there are quite a few differences between this world and 616, but honestly there's too many to list at the moment. If you feel you want to steer clear of them, feel free to just write about what you know has happened. Or, if you enjoy writing, then just go with what you feel like. I'd love to see what kind of stuff people could base on the events of this quest.
>>29010666Crusty Jones. C.J.
>>29010705Oh. I thought he was a guy on /tg/ good at doing articles and just happened to have the same initials.
>>29010676If Spider Jerusalem exists in this universe I will not be able to contain my manic glee.
>>29010680Writing/thinking warmly!
>>29010763Same.But I don't think enough drugs exist in this time period. And then it turns out this place is one of those Reservations and we're in The City as a display of the past.
>>29010869Imagine if the fabricator body jacked one of Stark's armor production facilities.
>>29010917If it's Spider's mafia-made Maker then it would just make a lot more cyber-drugs and get high. Possibly from the facility instead of a base block.
