A wave crashed over the city, towering high over even the skyscrapers. You could only look on in awe as it came from nowhere. "Out of the blue" you'd say if the sky was still that color. For over a year, it's been a shifting medley of colors, something that the men in charge had dubbed "The Aurora."
Aside from the calamity that had begun upon the first day, the riots, the wreck, and the natural disasters striking the world in tandem, it only escalated due to the panic of the people, starved for government control to herd their sheep back in line.
"Shepherds," if you would.

Yet today, with this monstrous tide sweeping away cars and buildings alike, you do not join the crowds as people flee on foot. Something in your heart and mind tells you that this is it, this is the end, and you'd much rather face it than be taken from the back, swept away like an ant to this city.

The wave passes over you, crashing against your body as it drives the air from your lungs, the salt of the water viciously stinging your eyes like seaborne hornets, and like this you're carried away by the cruel sea.
You struggle then, clutching your throat for breath as the water denies you, reaching out for someone to help you, someone to save you.
As the world grows dark, you see a mermaid darting through the water to save you...

_________________________________

Once the light fades, you see a plethora of colors mixing in a vast tide. A thousand blues of the ocean echoing from paragons that stand atop this seat of power, guiding the fury of Poseidon's chariot. The colors wash over you as the waters of baptism as a nymph kisses you, blessing you with a breath of life, birthing you anew.
>>
=An eternity passes, and you feel air brush upon your drenched form, hair dripping with saltwater as you are dimly aware of your hair grabbed, pulled up and a harsh light violating your eyes.
"Wake up. You are to be born again." It's a man's voice among the murk of your consciousness. A hard slap, and you are made aware of pain in your cheek, a mark that you are not only awake, but alive.

Hacking up residual seawater, you remember the wave and the blues as though it were a daydream turned nightmare by how battered your body now feels. The man before you lets you go, and you realize that there are others her with you.
A few women that have yet to wake up, and men that stare with a lost defiance as one man lies unconscious against the pavement you kneel upon, bloody lines where some of his fingers should be.
One or two look familiar, like people you may have seen around in the city, though no one you'd know.

Yet before you stand people with a thick African accent, and eyes that speak of the great terrors that they've been through, all seeming to carry a great burden larger than any one of them. The man approaches you again, stepping upon your hand with not a foot, but a talon. A talon?

It pierces your flesh with a sharp squelch, you grit your teeth to stifle a scream that you're too weary to put heart into. He seems to like that reaction.
"They start to awaken." He glances to the others with him, a woman of harsh blue eye, another with a green tinge to her otherwise ebony skin, a man with hands that pass more for a beast of nightmares, and the one before you bearing not only talons but a strong chest with pitch-black feathers fettering his arms.

They put themselves each before the others as they rouse, ignoring the man with missing fingers.

You feel your hair pulled again, forcing you to look up at the bird-man before you.
"It is time for you to pay the price of knowledge with your body, to be born again into this world."
>>

I think you're jumping ahead there buddy. There's plenty of time to mutilate ourselves after our first choice of the whole quest.

>>28914467
Only on the condition we get a cool eyepatch.
>>
>>28914554
I dunno, what about glass eyes? We could get one with a rune on it.
>>
>>28914467
It's been a while, but I remember how that sort of thing works, at least with Invokers, is that if we go for a big concept like Odin we could very well end up with some Odinish traits bouncing around inside of us, assuming channeling all of that conceptual power doesn't kill or horrifically maim us.

Thankfully with the sacrificing our eye for knowledge bit we have a closer connection to Odin than normal so it might not be as arduous a task, still, something to be careful about. We don't want to take too much Odin in at a time.

Odin is a remarkably solid choice though, he is a god of wisdom, prophecy, magic, stories, battle, and leadership. If we get that under control we have a lot of options available to us.

>>28914554
How could we possibly not get a cool eyepatch? That or a magical glass eyeball.

I'm just hoping we don't end up impaling random people to trees and sacrificing them in our name.
>>
The man looms over you, with raven-colored feathers streaking his form, the lines of blood from your hand soaking the concrete of the road beneath you, tasting the saltwater that flows backwards upon the concrete.
With a tug, you find your head lifted up, forced to look the man in his wholly black eyes, clawed hands scraping against your skull through your mop of hair. He curls a lip in what would tremble into a sneer if not for the near-pious restraint he deigns to exhibit. His words carry a conviction to them that would send trembles through the core of your being.
"You will begin to understand your purpose here. Upon this planet, upon the green earth that we walk upon. Yet you shall lose half of your light. I see it, this shall be your cause for awakening. You will find an answer in time for why I must do this to you.

Bear witness, I shall make you half blind." He finishes as his black hand blots out the light of your left eye, ceremoniously piercing a talon through the gelatinous orb, popping it like a ripened grape.

You cry out with every fiber of your being, your bound hand ruining itself beneath his talon, and the unbound being "corrected" the same.

The sea within your lungs comes up, salt burning through your trachea in a blood-curdling scream as he moves the talon around to ensure your eye's permanent destruction.

"Only with this you will see. Only like this, you will come to understand." His voice bears no malice, his words carrying a belief greater than himself.

His eyes glint with a power and you recall that surge of colors from your dream, the nymph that kissed you. The same one that now carves away the flesh of a woman beside you.
What are these people? A part of you wonders as the bird-man continues his assault.
The other part only wants this to stop.

Animist/Vein
>>
>Animist/Aura Vein: Bearing the light of their spiritual bodies through their veins they are masters of their own self and their own personal space.
>They are capable of feats that Evokers may enact such as channeling lightning, commanding water, or even running their "chi" through weaponry. However they risk their own souls while Evokers build heat in their brains as they use their powers.
>They are also capable of Invoker feats that do not transform the body but alter the way the world acts upon them, giving them the ability to hold their body together through sheer will alone, superhuman strength, and speed. They are capable of both realms, yet masters of neither. They are vulnerable to Evokers.

>Invoker Bone: They bear the light of their power in their flesh and bone. Augmenting their bodies to surpass all human limits and then further into the reaches of imagination. They consume the same power of mind that evokers wield to empower themselves and even transform. They are however vulnerable to Animists as souls are naturally too "thick" to consume.
>>28914610
This still applies.

Evoker nerve: They lack the fortitude of the other two, however they are capable of creating thoughtforms, controlling the world around them, facilitating chemical reactions, and applying properties to objects that have no right to a property. (They could make gold float, Air thick as molasses, cancel gravity, apply homing principles to bullets, etc. The world around them is a reflection of their thoughts.)

I hope this is an adequate explanation. Basically Mind-Mage, Body-Superhuman, and Soul-Hybrid.

Your brain seethes with the ancient fury of the seas imprinted from your dream. A thousand colors of blues rush through your mind, and the bleeding hole that's become your left eye beats out your further as you scream of agony rises into a roar, the world trembling around you, and you feel it respond in tune.

Every drop of water running across the surface of the drenched city street becomes known to you for but an instant as the cry of your psyche calls to them.

You see the watery silver glow of your eyes reflect in the man before you, and he bears a religious satisfaction as he unceremoniously slides his nail from your gored socket, letting you hang your head in pain as your brain begins to burn with this new sensation, this awareness.

The Crow steps from you, removing his talons from your hands and raising his arms to the splendor of colors in the sky, the sun breaking through just then to wash a golden light upon his dark form.
"A child has awoken to the greatness that they possess! Let this be known to the world."
Religiously, he places the blood of your eye upon his forehead, smearing a line down the center of his brow, his cranium bearing a luminance for a moment as a third eye opens, staring at you while the others close.

You feel more trembles of power around you as a woman to your left screams, clawing at her aggressor with her burns burning a brilliant green.

Yet another spits fire at their antagonist, yet to no avail.

A man to your side blasts out an invisible force from his palm, knocking his "benefactor" away, whom now wears only a grin.

They replicate the holy gestures, with their deeds done, the blackbird's eye upon you giving you extreme pause along with the throbbing pain in your face.

Just what are these people?

"They shall awaken, bearing the seeds of knowledge eaten before the dawn of man." The blackbird recites, the others at his side echo as their duties are complete.
A few of the people put through lie dead.
>>
"Bear witness to the power of mankind, cast off your ignorance and bear witness to the truth beyond the veil.

In the name of Susej, we shall let you leave in peace."

They make no further movements, their eyes upon the survivors, awaiting their next move.
It seems that you have lease to... leave?

The other survivors seem to be making eyes at them, what could they be thinking?

Blood streaks from your eye socket, dripping feebly and mixing with the rest of the water flowing back towards the ocean.
You suck in a tight breath of air, trying to hold yourself back from the pain that keeps beating through your eye with every heartbeat.

These people, even after what they did to you. It's too much. Are they messengers from god? Or are they some kind of demons?
The light that the heavens spills down upon them would speak of divinity, yet the wronged people beside you stare on at them with a murky mix of fear and anger.

You let the air out, calming steadying yourself, if only just for a moment.
"We know.." You break the silence through the ambient noise, millions of gallons of water washing in the distance.

It's now that you look up and see for the first time that the city is gone, wiped away by that amazing wave, your lips quiver out of fear as tears run down your face- One line clear, the other of blood.
"We know that we won't win.." You bleat, the others losing whatever nerve they may have had at your resignation.
"What did you do to us, why? How do I-" You realize that you can't quite explain it.

The way that you feel the wash of water around you, the salt in the air, even the flow of blood in muffles.
"How-"

"It is the will of Susej that we awaken you. We have done nothing but make you understand the power you have kept hidden. You will discover the 'how' in time. For now, you must go on in peace, we have others to 'teach,' and you are free to do as you wish."

That's it then. Just like that, they mutilate the lot of you and just let you go.

A man gets up, panting with a part of his throat torn out, his veins beating with a brilliant orange coloration, and little to no blood shed from his horrible wound.
"What in god's name have you done to me? Turning me into some kind of freak?!" His voice bellows out in more ways than one, sounding less human and much more like a ghost or spirit.
>>
The man begins to approach the people, they remain still, watching carefully what transpires next.

Yet it is your hand, through some struggle that finds its way to the man's shoulder.
"No. You'll die." You whisper, trembling with your own agony.

You feel the shaking throughout his flesh as well, he resigns himself to your judgement, breaking whatever illusions he had that he could stop this.

The other survivors struggle to stand with their own horrid wounds, and they follow you away without looking back at the madness of those people.

The man that you had stopped turns to you.

He sees a young man by the name of Asher Smith. Aside from your bleeding eye and soaked through form, you have a polite build that any person of your age could be feasibly proud of.
You quietly introduce yourself, and he gives a nod, responding in turn. "Alder Neoman" is his name.

He looks like he's put on more than a few years, likely more than twice his age judging by the wear upon his face, the again the wave probably makes all of you a lot older.

You grits his teeth every time a a scream is heard from those going through the same thing that the lot of you were put through.

At most, there must've been fifteen people shared between those "freaks" as he calls them, and only five of you satisfied their conditions.

The women are quiet, scared and effectively attached to the two of you, none of you in good condition.

Your eye's busted out and you're losing a lot of blood along with a loss of sanity from the pain, you can't even imagine what Alder is going through with his throat torn out like that.
One of the woman bears nothing but burns along her midriff, a green glow within her bone seem to be fighting against the damage.
Yet another woman is receiving assistance from the burned one, the ribbons that her face lie in are causing her to lose blood fast.
Finally, there seems to be a final girl that's closer to a teenager from your lot, that lost out on the usage of her tongue, blood running from her mouth and the remains a cauterized stub.

This is your current party.
>>
Following the running water, you've all been heading towards the sea. Yet as you draw closer you hear more and more screams around you from destroyed buildings, broken fixtures, and the flooded lowgrounds.

There are people dying all around you, and it's not just because one of those people have gotten their claws in them.

The only question is, are you a hero?
The other people with you seem to be committed to following you, at least, for now.

Isn't this the third or fourth time this thing respawns? I like your ideas man but I just can't support this quest anymore. Why did you drop from Akun; The story waa starting to go somewhere.
>>
You remember your own pain, clutching a hand over your eye to try to stop the bleeding, yet having little luck against the agony. In your grim walk, you reach for any personal effects you might have om your person and find your pockets empty, devoid of even a wallet and I.D.
Could it have gotten washed away? No, that's not important right now, you need some kind of medical attention to get these wounds to stop leaking out your vital fluids.

You cough, and feel some attention upon you among the cries of death and destruction within this city.
"My eye won't stop. It won't stop. Where should we go?" You scan over your sorry troop with your remaining eye. The fatigued and sympathetic looks of your sudden comrades likely a synchronization of your own expression.

"I don't know," The burned woman speaks," I don't know anything anymore. This..." She looks back at the washed buildings, the bits of debris that flow back. Everything is covered in a graven layer of water retreating back to the ocean down this slow slope.
She continues,"Everything. Everything is gone." She slowly shakes her head, shoulders trembling from duress, her bones glimmering with power as her abdomen's flesh continues to warp back into a healed state before everyone's very eyes.

"What is this..." Alder approaches her suddenly, causing her to flinch back and away from the man with the savage neck, orange veins gleaming.
"How did you- How did you do that!?" His voice roars with that odd flange where it shouldn't even exist.

You start to bear the same question, she's mostly healed aside from the scar tissue, though she seems so... tired.

Medical supplies along with everything else is in all likelihood soaked all the way through. Your lot may have to be more wary of open powerlines.

The girl with the cut tongue flabs about the once-burnt, her speech agonizingly unrecognizable.
The woman with the flayed face touches her own wounds piteously, likely concerned if she could do the same.

While I'm not sure we'd be able to heal, finding out should be top priority right now. Y'know, with all the bleeding and death going on right now.

Otherwise, >[] Call the group together, usher them down to the shoreline, this isn't the time to gawk, right?

Getting out of the city should be a good idea right now. Lots of bad shit going down, and as Dranule said, stuff is going to be collapsing soon and there'll be downed power lines everywhere.

After that it's time to take charge. "Alright, the situation is bad, but we won't get anywhere by just gawking at the scenery. We all want to survive, and our best chances are together.

We need medical supplies and we need shelter. Some of us may be able to heal ourselves, but we don't know how it works or if we can heal others. At the very least we need bandages or clean cloth."

See if anyone can identify where we are in the city and where from here we could find clean cloth, medical supplies, or other useful things. If no one knows the area well enough have someone get to a vantage point and look ahead of us, maybe they'll see something.
>>
>>28916938
>Cover your wound with a strip of clothe to staunch the bleeding.
>>
>>28916938
>>[] Leave without them, you'd be better off alone right now.
First off, leave. Don't even bother with them. They're scared, confused, unhinged. We don't know anything about their past or what they'll do in this kind of stress. We're confused as well, but at least we know that we're not going to slit our own wrists or anything.

Just back away. Try to be as nondescript as possible, don't answer questions. If they ask any, give false information.

Try and rip apart your t-shirt and hold it on your empty eye-socket. It'll have to do for now.

We have the power of water, correct? Water is usually connected to some sort of healing art.

Try it FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE
>>
Seems to be tied between whether to leave them, or stick with them.
>>
>>28916938
>>[] Leave without them, you'd be better off alone right now.
Leave. And I don't mean "Go a little distance away from them and then go back to them in an hour or two" I mean fucking leave. Pick a direction and walk that way while fiddling with our powers. Don't not chat them up. Do not take any of them with you.

We're Survivor-man here. And when you're Survivor-man, all you can trust is yourself.
>>
>>28917262
Stick with them. Four powered allies is worth a lot.

We get out of this with them we'll be in a stronger position at the end of it. We go it alone and we're utterly fucked if a group of people messes with us, we need backup.
>>
>>28917295
>Stick with them. Four powered allies is worth a lot.
Not when we know nothing about them.
>>
long term survival. A group will keep us safer over time. We can't survive looking over our shoulder 24/7. No one is going to screw with a group of 5 people at the moment but one guy yeah you become a target.
>>
>>28916938
>[] Leave without them, you'd be better off alone right now.
This gets us closer to my goal of becoming a wandering prophet.
>>
>>28917327
And they know nothing about us but if we can get them through this they will trust and work with us in the future. We can start building ties. the world is fucked up we need people that can watch our back.
>>
>>28917327
Then we find out about them.

After going through hell with them and coming out the other side alive they'll be about as trustworthy as they'll get.

Other people with powers are going to band up, that's an obvious fact, if we don't have a group then we will have no method of actually fighting a group with a decent chance of winning. We're an Evoker, we probably aren't going to be good against any Invokers, we have major weaknesses that they can cover.

In the long term, allies are worthwhile. Lone wolf will get us killed.
>>
>>28916938
>>[] Leave without them, you'd be better off alone right now.
So fucking transparent what will happen if we join them. We'll try and take control of the situation, because /tg/ loves being the little paladin who inspires awe in the female so they can try and get into their pants and their hatch wound.

It'll be fine for about an 1 or so and then the raging bull, Alder will freak out. "BURR WHY AIN'T I DA LEADARRRRRR" And we'll end up getting into a fight with him and whoever he threatens into joining him.

All will be avoided if we split. Which is the rational decision.
>>
>>28916938
>[] Call the group together, usher them down to the shoreline, this isn't the time to gawk, right?

We need to get this group moving.
>>
I can smell the lawfag in this thread. I won't let it happen.
>>
>>28917427
Why are you assuming Alder is completely crazy and irrational?

He's had a bad day, and his voice is weird, that doesn't mean he's irrational. We can work with him.

You're jeopardizing our chances of survival so that you can avoid being near girls.
>>
>>28917462
>so that you can avoid being near girls.
So I can avoid stressed out strangers who have weird powers.
>>
>>28917427
Pretty fucking traumatic event in the last 5 mins. Yeah he's not in the best state right now but we can work with him. We focus the group into doing something productive and things will start to calm down. If he can't adapt we'll deal with it. But going lone wolf in a world of super powered people is just asking to be killed. Being alone in this world is a death wish.
>>
Voting for being the lone wolf because the QM isn't expecting it. And it'll be interesting.

I'm tired of never being able to be a lone wolf in quests. It'll be harder, yes, but we'll adapt and find a way.
>>
>>28917489
We're not going to magically not run into people with weird powers because we're alone. There'll still be people we run into, many of them will be in groups, and they won't have our best intentions in mind.

I want some backup.

If you're worried about them being strangers, then get to know them and they'll stop being strangers.

Oh so "Leave the group" technically won, but we're staying with them? Good to know.

First one was alignment type thing. Are you going to be a white knight and try to help everyone or not? We said no because doing that is stupid but working in a group makes sense. I don't understand the people wanting to be alone completely. Super powered freaks everywhere let's wander off and become a target, plot armor will save us. We can use the people in the group we'll also be much safer.
>>
>>28917804
>We said no because doing that is stupid but working in a group makes sense.
I can guarantee you that we're going to end up being a white-knight regardless.
>>
>>28917783
I currently have no idea how many people are following, I just say a conversation back and forth and I wasn't really sure who was who. In any case, the option may present itself in the future, you're not even emotionally attached to these people.
>>28917804
>First one was alignment type thing. Are you going to be a white knight and try to help everyone or not?
That's so, it's established already that the MC is not someone who will necessarily give their all for others.
Asher Smith is for himself. Staying with the group is a means to survival in any case.
>>
Looking to the sheer glow of Alder's neck, you can guess at least at what's going on with him- that energy is replacing his blood vessels.
The burnt woman? She healed herself.
Now, if you. If only you could do the same.
You bear a small bit of hope within your heart yet as you feel the echo of your mind pass over the droplets of water again. By that's all you feel. You try to will your eye to heal, and that's all you get.
The woman with the flayed face turns to you, frowning in pain as her wounds heal into crude scar tissue, her face seeming to burn with an ephemeral yellow throughout her skull.
"You," She says, with a point, fatigue beginning to take her and her tired gasping breaths,"What are you doing?"
Alder turns back to you, as you suddenly become all the more aware of the water sopping through all of your clothes.
"What? Your eyes, I mean- no, not just the one missing." He reaches for your face, and you panic, pushing away at him.
"Stay back," You say and moreso think, halting him in his tracks as the water upon his body comes off in a spray, leaving his once-sodden clothes bone-dry, and the mass of water gathering behind him.
The others look on with a small degree of terror, matched only by yours as you see the branching nerves of your hands shining a brilliant cerulean blue.
For a moment, you bring yourself to relax and the water falls, returning to the flow that beats its path down to the beach.

Alder looks at his own clothes, bewilderment stricken upon his face,"You.. You did that?"
The women and girl look to you with the same awe as the two that've shown to be capable of healing finish as far as they can.
The teen, incapable of fixing her tongue seems to be holding back tears on that point.
Alder's gaze transfixed upon you, before scanning to the others, taking in each of their faces, you do the same as well.
>>
Each of you seem to bear an odd variation of supernatural power, that's easy enough to see, but why? And why did those people-

Your thoughts are interrupted by a man screaming not too far from where your group is standing. Everyone's eyes travel to the source, the voice quickly snuffed out and a man rising out from the rubble, his dark flesh baked into perfection under the African sun, and his vein-work bearing a stunning crimson glow.

His eyes pass over your lot as he flings the blood from his hand, no shirt obscuring his chiseled form.
Apparently liking what he sees, the man bows before the five of you, and with a solid step, launches himself up the slope with an inhuman bound, touching briefly for a second leap clearing not feet, but city blocks.

Off in the distance you hear the crash of lightning despite the cloudless sky, see the bursts of flames despite the sodden city.

It's as though the world's gone crazy and you've become your very own example of that fact.
=======================================================

It took some time walking through the city streets, sidestepping the walking human disasters that have begun to prevail. The worse of the others injuries have been tended too along with your own.

Through your own power, you've gotten dry cloth around the holes in your hands and a suitable eye-patch covering up the raw flesh, formerly your eye. Alder's got just as dry bandages around the hole that is his neck, that orange glow of his own light still sustaining him.

Everyone's tired and a bit hungry yet better off than they were before.
>>
The burnt woman introduced herself as Reina Tangrouve, a florist from a little shop by the shore.
The Woman with the new facial scars is Jade Remery, around your age and a high school student, senior year. Or at least, was.
The girl without a tongue couldn't really communicate properly, however she managed to draw out her name as "Kierra Darce" By her look, she's young enough to be a freshman or sophomore.
Alder, he was in the business of accounting before he got snatched up by the wave. He still bears that weird flange to his voice. His vocal cords.. its weird but. You're beginning to guess that they're not even there.

The Africans, the "Followers of Susej" that rode the wave are scouring the city for other survivors. None of you give any complaint to that fact, just happy that the lot of you are unmolested.

Alder did mumble something about other survivors possibly becoming an issue if they were given the same powers as your group. It could affect your chances of survival.
Reina keeps asking if help is coming. The coastguard should be here any moment now, ready to extract them, get them to safety and stop those crazy zealots.
Jade? She kept quiet along with Kierra for the most part, letting the adults do the talking, though you're not much for it yourself. You really just want to be done with this.

That's different than having someone's eye and hands start glowing while looking at you and standing right next to you.

It's a understandable reaction, and if he started glowing like that right next to us, considering how little you seem to trust him, you'd probably be panicking just as much, if not more so, and looking for a way to stop him.
>>
>>28918222
>That's different than having someone's eye and hands start glowing while looking at you and standing right next to you.
Not really. She wasn't exhibiting any signs of her magic being destructive and neither did ours. We just glowed. Why don't you stop being such an apologist, paladin?
>>
Sitting in a makeshift camp out of some shack doesn't exactly make you feel comfortable as you all share your backgrounds with hungry bellies. You stand, and peek out of the shoddily rebuilt shack. You weren't much help in it, though Alder and Reina seemed to have more strength than they'd let on.
"Where are you going?" Alder's distorted voice asks after you before you leave, giving you a moment of pause to think.

"Going out to get some food. If we're going to stay here, we can't go hungry." You explain, and everyone else seems to be in a sort of agreement. It's sensible after all.

"I'll go with you," It's Reina that stands, her bones glimmering with her green light for a moment, her midriff still bearing that horrid seared flesh.
"Alder can stay here and watch the girls, and I'll watch you." She places a hand upon your shoulder and you reflexively tug away.
"I'm fine, I don't need to be babysat." You complain with your remaining eye glancing to Alder.
"No, she's right. Safety in numbers. I'll see if Jade and myself can't fix up this shack anymore. We could at least make it suitable for more people.

You bow out without another word, though you do realize that he's right. The tide's just about finished flowing back into the sea. It's afternoon, going on into the evening, meaning that it'll be dark soon.
Reina follows after, looking away from you," Hey, Asher. We're just trying to help each other out through this. There's no need to be-"
"Look, I know. I know that already, but I'm just..." You suck in a breath of salty air, looking up at the drifting colorful sky before pressing on,"I'm just starting to worry about my family, or rather the fact that they're gone now."

He actually did yell at her a little bit. He couldn't quite see the glowing of his own next, and Reina surprised him too. He's just a bit more vocal of an older fella.

I'm up for a little Q & A at this time aside.

Is it well so far? Anything I could do better? Understandably, I know that I need to condense the posts down a bit with quality over quantity and the like.
>>
>>28918230
I'm not a paladin, I'm a survivalist. Constant paranoia regarding the closest things we have to allies is not helpful for survival.

In the same vein constantly looking for some excuse to run off on our own and abandon any chance of having backup is also terrible for our chances of survival.

You did notice that literally everyone was somewhat afraid of what was going on, including ourself? The woman with the facial wounds, Jade, was asking what we were doing before Alder reached for us.

Alder was actually also freaked out by the girl healing herself.

He's not acting as an enemy, he hasn't shown himself to be untrustworthy.

I honestly don't expect to write for a flawless boyscout or even someone who deigns themselves a hero. Not after that decision to stick to his own troubles.
Then again, going alone is indeed a less than optimal choice. Evokers are natural manipulators. They're less superhuman than the other types as they are unable to change their own bodies without possible backlash. You want meatshields, trust that.

>>
>>28918523
Because people will totally believe that we're the savior.

There's lots of people running around with powers, and since we don't seem to have mind control or superhuman charisma, at least not yet, we probably wouldn't make it that far as a religious figure.
>>
>>28918523

>>
>>28918564

Don't think of it as, "We can't control our body and we have no superhuman ability," which ability can be explained as by tinkering with genetics, but instead think of it as, "We are the only ones who can affect things other than our own body."
>>
>>28918564
We're squishy and we can't heal, and you want us to go off on our own? Are you crazy?

We are seriously nowhere near as powerful alone as we are with other people. If we have other people we have meat shields to keep people from getting close to us while we do our thing. Since with practice we ought to be able to manipulate a large area we work well in a group, we can attack multiple enemies at once and defend multiple allies at once. We can alter the battlefield to our advantage through this as well.

Also, we seriously ought to learn how to manipulate the temperature/state of the water we manipulate. Impaling enemies with spikes of ice that burst into superheated steam inside their body ought to be pretty effective.
>>
I just want to be a lone wanderer, practicing our skills until we become The Water God. If our group can't survive without our powers, then the less we have to worry about getting fucked over by them.

WHICH WILL HAPPEN BY THE WAY.
>>
>>28918613

The only thing we're in danger of is weirdos in our group. I'll stick with them until we gain more power, but I'm not voting to be friends with them. If Mad Hat Alder wants to be the Alder, I say we let him.

No skin off our nose.
>>
>>28918625
So it controlling water, period.
>>
>>28918615
Worry less about the group's ability to survive without us, and more about our lack of ability to survive on our own.

Do you not grasp that we can't take hits? Even if we go it alone we will get into fights, and we will get hurt, and we have neither the durability to take hits or the healing to regenerate from them.

It's a losing proposition to strike out on our own, especially at this juncture.

We need to play to our strengths, not against them.

>>28918625
Magic! One of the last Overhuman protags could channel the concept of the Phoenix, could produce temperatures in the thousands of degrees and fucking fly, and you're saying that changing water into ice and steam is impossible.

Seriously?

>>28918635
We aren't the only ones who got powers today, the Susej followers empowered a lot of other people. We are not the only super powered group in the city, and if we strike out on our own we will almost certainly run into a different group of empowered folks, and they very well might not have our best interests in mind.

We are in danger from a good number of other things. Other super powered people, especially those who have banded together, government or private agencies trying to forcibly recruit us or prevent their enemies from recruiting us, someone who gets a lucky shot and blows our head off from a distance with a rifle before we know what's going on.

We have a group of people who are powered, nonhostile towards us, potentially rather friendly, and who we have gone through a less than pleasant experience with, that brings people together. We can trust them more than we can trust some random stranger in this place, and going alone is a terrible idea.
>>
>>28918449
I'm wondering if a few applications of our water control are viable, at least with practice.

If someone has an open would could we exsanguinate them? Blood has a lot of water in it.

Can we desiccate or dehydrate things in an effective enough way to act as a weapon against people or to completely remove the water from things like plants, trees, dirt, and so on.

Can we alter the temperature/state of the water we control? Making ice and/or steam.

It was stated earlier that we could feel the droplets of water with our mind. Could we expand on this and have a general map of an area in our head based on this. So if people are wet we can locate them, and we can understand the layout of wet/damp places?

Can we just put a globe of water surrounding people's heads and drown them that way? Or force it down their mouth and nose.
>>
>>28918782
Can't believe I forgot this one.

Can we shoot a thin jet of extremely pressurized water? High pressure water can be used to cut through steel, concrete, flesh, and all sorts of other things.

If we can freeze water can we soak people and then freeze the water on them to immobilize them or at least hamper their mobility?
>>

>If someone has an open would could we exsanguinate them? Blood has a lot of water in it.

One limit of Over magic, even Evokers is that to affect a body they require direct contact due to a human's natural "Magical resistance." It's possible, though it is something that must be done up close and personal.

Any ranged effect making use of the environment however will still be able to pierce their flesh and bones in a normal manner.

>>28918782
>Can we alter the temperature/state of the water we control? Making ice and/or steam.
Yes. Though you are not limited to just water. It is just something that you have capacity for to start with.

Through practice and training you will be capable of much greater and grander things that bend the reality of the world.

>>28919416
Petyr will likely show up. Though would never have a reason to join Susej, not with his values. Not with how Susej took his father.

>>28918782
>Can we just put a globe of water surrounding people's heads and drown them that way? Or force it down their mouth and nose
That could be possible, though not something to rely on. An Invoker could "eat" your magic and keep going.

>It was stated earlier that we could feel the droplets of water with our mind. Could we expand on this and have a general map of an area in our head based on this. So if people are wet we can locate them, and we can understand the layout of wet/damp places?

Incidentally, and Asher Smith doesn't know this yet.
Overs of the same type can learn from each other.
There are far more techniques than just water control, though it IS a very resourceful ability.

Evoker powers have been shown to be: DNA manipulation, thoughtform creation/summoning/control, golem creation, combustion, forced chain reaction, light bending, influence, plant manipulation.
And there are many more.

More useful than you'd think, it'd at least give you the ability to defend yourself with a sheet of ice.

Mostly because some chucklefucks went on about nipple powers and channeling the force.
That, and tg is more partial to this genre.

As for the serial killer. Such eccentrics are more powerful than usual due to the forces at work here.
Unstable and highly dangerous. You'd know from the way that Omar meet his unceremonious ends.
