You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Whoopee, school’s back on. Goodbye, Casablanca. Hello, Education. You rise out of bed and get yourself to your shower. Yesterday was somewhat productive, you’ve got a few new books to read too. But alas, gone is the day of breaks and Shore Leave, at least until October. Now comes the days of education, sitting in class, and tanks.

You pack your books up in your backpack in case you want to read them, and then get your uniform on for the day. You check your fridge and find that you’re pretty much out of food save for today’s breakfast. You might want to go grocery shopping today.

You shrug, then simply pull out one of the last remaining apples and start digging in. With that, Nancy knocks on your door.

“President, ready for school?”

You open the door and raise your arms in the air. “Girls! Good to see you!” You yawn deeply. “Oh shit, last night was a killer. You could say I went right into the Danger Zone.”

Nancy smiles. “Well, I’m glad you’re ready and willing at least!”

“Yep,” you say. “We’re all here and ready for school. Nancy, Lisa, Ramirez and… Kitten?”

Kitten nods to you, looking sleepy as all hell. “Morning, Trudy.”

“… What are you doing this early in the morning?” you ask, a confused look on your face.

Kitten says, “I’ve signed up for a Radio Operation class, it’s a lecture sort of presentation if you’d believe that.”

“Oooh! So you’re finally getting out and doing stuff!” You hug Kitten, giddy. “This is great!”

“Mind you, it’s only for the mornings and once I’m done, I’m heading right back home.”

“It’s a start.”

Lisa nods. “Anyway, let’s get rolling.”

“So, Kitten, when were you going to tell me about this?” you ask.

Kitten says, “At some point in the future. At least now saves me the trouble of having to bring it up.”

Lisa says, “Radio Operation classes though are mostly for Naval Studies Students who want to get their certifications.” She asks Kitten, “You getting certified?”

“If it comes to it,” says Kitten, yawning. “Oh Christ, I’m tired.”

You say, “Hey, it’ll pass once you start getting used to waking up in the morning, Kitten!” You pat her on the back. “Just think of all the people you’ll meet in school!”

“You say that as if I’ll actually make more friends.”

Nancy says, “Now, Kitten. There’s nothing wrong with making high expectations.”

“Anyway,” you say. “School’s school. You’re getting out and getting active and that’s great. Soon, you’ll be having jobs, then you’ll be paying rent, it’ll be a real hell of a thing!”

With that, you arrive at the campus entrance. You check the time, and find that you have plenty of time before class.

You enter the school library. You find that it’s a quiet, organized, and very good place to read your books, which you do. You snap open My Tank Is Fight! and begin reading through it once more. You skim through pages you’ve already read through, but more or less it still holds your attention to a good degree. Though, you kinda want to read something else at this point.

> “My Tank is Fight!” Progress: 180% (COMPLETED)

You bookmark the page then check the time. Still a fair amount of time before you need to head to class. You on decide on browsing some of the school’s wares. Nothing really important about tanks, but you decide that it might be worth coming back to later.

> Head to Class

You sit down in Math Class. Unfortunately, all the shore leave and the extra sleep that came with hasn’t exactly helped your ability to stay awake or stay focused in math class. Soon, the Professor taps you on the head lightly after you nod off, eliciting a couple of giggles from the other girls. Gee, thanks Professor. Besides that, you’re also assigned your homework for the night.

English class is a little more lazy friendly however. The Professor has put on a very strange adaptation of MacBeth starring Sir Patrick Stewart in a strange version of Soviet Russia with the original Shakespearean English intact. You can’t complain though, at least it’s somewhat cool to watch.

You lean back, yawning a little. You look around and see other students not really paying attention, on their laptops or phones, while others take notes attentively. You understand the Professor is only putting the movie on because it is the first day right after Shore Leave. Of course nobody’s gonna pay attention.

You think, maybe you should do something.

You pull out your laptop and like the good little girl you are, you decide on taking some notes. You don’t actually know what the hell you’re going to be taking notes on, but hell, you just write down what happens in the scene and some shit about inner symbolism.

With that, the bell rings and it’s time for Chemistry.

Surprisingly enough, it’s actually time for a lab in Chemistry. Specifically having to do with different acids and bases. Unfortunately, like the rest of Chemistry, it proves to be intensely boring. Thankfully however your group at least gets the job done and it looks like your lab work will turn into an easy A at least.

With that, it’s time for lunch.

You quickly grab your free meal, a ham sandwich with a banana and a carton of milk. Nothing too special but it’s a healthy meal nonetheless. You sit down next to Nancy and across from Lisa and Ramirez. Lisa is busy reading the school newspaper, freshly published.

“Hey, where’s Kitten?” you ask.

Nancy says, “She went home after her Radio Ops class ended.”

You pout. “Oh. I wanted to have lunch with her.”

Lisa grunts. “Persevere, Boss.” She turns the page and finds something not to her liking. “Oh, look at this.”

You look over at Lisa’s paper to see the article on Lafayette’s Tankery Program. Like any other school newspaper, it’s incredibly wordy with lots of words that high schoolers use but don’t fully understand. However, you can make out the gist of it.

You frown angrily. “I can’t believe it. They don’t like us.”

Lisa says, “I know! Accusing us of embezzling funds, training an ineffective team, having no idea what we’re doing-“

You say, “Admittedly, that is kind of true.”

“Still,” says Lisa, angrily. “And look at this. The article says it wouldn’t be surprising if a Recall Election is called.”

You flush white. “Recall?”

Nancy nods. “Recall. You can win a Recall Election easy though, right?”

“Of course I can!” You swallow your intense fear of the Recall Election. “I mean, it’s just a Recall Election, who’s really going to run against me?”

Lisa say bluntly, “Says here it’s one of last year’s candidates. Jeannette Rankin.”

“Ah, her.” You remember that you barely won over last year’s election against Rankin by a margin of 2%. “I can beat her easy!”

Lisa shrugs. “Well, hopefully you do, otherwise our budget will go down the shitter and most likely the Tankery Team goes with it.”

You say, “Gee, Lisa. Thanks for your optimism.”

“Hey, I’m just being realistic,” she says as she tosses the paper away. Nothing else interesting to read anyway. “Anyway, if it does come to Recall, we will help you to the best of our abilities. That’s what a staff does.”

Nancy nods. “Lisa’s right! This here’s a crew. We can make it through it!”

“Thanks guys,” you say. “Couldn’t have asked for a better staff than you all.”

Ramirez says, “You probably could have.”

You look at the time, ooh, time for Gym class. Before you head out, Lisa stops you.

You whistle along as students simply fly past you, exhausted from doing four or five laps around the gymnasium. You count that you’ve just done the twentieth lap so far. You check your pulse, beating at a good rhythm.

You then run up to the Coach, calculating the current laps. “20 laps, Pool. Not bad,” she says.

You nod, running in place to keep the energy. “Thanks, Coach.”

“I didn’t say stop.”

With that, you continue running all the way to your forty eighth lap. With that, you consider yourself done with Gym for today. You start on your shower, whistling a little tune, then Willie Hanna comes over to strike up conversation.

“Hey, Hanna, what’s up?”

“Not much, Gertrude. It’s been a while, spent all of Shore Leave working and the like.”

You nod. “Cool.”

“Anyway, Gertrude, I said I’d repay you for helping me get into the Animation Club so I decided to scrape together some funds from my webseries.”

“Actually, better idea. I was wondering if maybe you could do some little cartoons and the like for our Tankery Program?”

> Watch the Movie

You watch the Documentary attentively. It mostly deals with Emperor Caligula and his infamous crazy rule over the Roman Empire, of his crazy antics, and how he eventually met his end at the hand of the Praetorian Guard.

Of course, you also pay close attention to Caligula’s one bright spark in his rule. The invention of the Academyship. Granted, Academyships in that time were very small in comparison to say, Heinlein Academy, and they didn’t really work well. However, the Documentary does assert that this invention did have a lasting influence and ensured that Caligula would at least be remembered for something other than his love for horses.

With that, class is over. Theatre moves by pretty quickly as the Professor lectures on the class on proper stage direction, which way to move about the stage when a play is running, etc. Informative stuff, kind of boring, but you learn. Might be handy for the Play as well.

You also breeze by French, noting tomorrow is a Quiz. Probably nothing special but it’d help to study perhaps.

With that, classes are over for the day.

> Go Somewhere (Groceries)

You decide on heading out and buying some groceries on the way home. You’re going to pack light though, the tank is at the Sports Warehouse and you don’t particularly feel like making two trips. Who makes two trips with groceries anyway?

You enter in the grocery store and look around. Fruits, veggies, meat, OOH CANDY! No, you don’t need Candy. Much as you’d like it. You grab up a basket and start browsing the aisles for some healthy stuff to eat in the mornings and evenings. You scratch your chin, thinking on it.

Eh, whatever. You grab some milk and a new box of cereal. That should last you a good week. What else should you buy? You only have room for three items, at least comfortably three items.

“Hell, sure, why not?”

You pay for the cookbook as well, and then thank the Freshman for the food. With that you leave the Supermarket and head on to the park to relax a bit. Getting this milk to a fridge can wait. You sit down on a bench and yawn, then pull out your phone and start goofing off. It’s these days you should consider getting a twitter or something, if only to assuage the boredom when you’re alone.

You also flip through a few pages of Anyone Can Cook. If that were true, you wouldn’t be feared by kitchen architects and cooks worldwide. You chuckle, maybe you can give Kitten this book and see if she can cook something.

Kitten cooking.

… Wow, you actually can’t imagine that as well as you think can.

Of course, a few things to remember, they’re probably holding rehearsals right now, but do you REALLY want to go back after leaving it?

Maybe you could also drop by the bookstore.

Or hell, visit Ramirez’s boyfriend’s barbershop.

> Go Somewhere (Rehearsals)

You’re torn between wanting to get a haircut and wanting to go to Rehearsals, but you think better of it and head to Rehearsals. You take your groceries with you, it’s not like the milk will spoil if you leave it out the entire day. You open the doors to the auditorium to see the very basic workings of a rehearsal: The line reading.

You find a seat next to Octavia, who’s at a table reading along to the actors read off their lines, a bit mechanically but emotion can be saved for later. Now is the time for memorization, and then onto blocking.

“Hey, Gertrude.”

“Octavia,” you greet. You look over and wave at Kitten eagerly. She smiles back at you as she looks up from her script. “So, what’s up, Octavia?”

“Just doing a Line Reading. Gotta iron out the kinks as all. What’s up with you?”

“Oh, I’m just dandy, Octavia. I’m getting things done! Just looking to see what I can do with the play today.”

Octavia nods. “Well, it’s mostly line readings at the moment, I assume you don’t have any objections with the script right?”

“Nah, it’s good.”

“Well,” Octavia says, “Director has final say on the overall theme of the play. We could do this light-hearted or do it grimdark for all I care.”

You raise an eyebrow. “Doesn’t the script say all that?”

“In theory yes, but directors usually like to try and apply their own flavor to it. I don’t mind if you want to try something different with the play, just tell me now so we won’t have you going on about it later,” says Octavia.

“Alright,” you pick a script and look through it.

“I’m serious, what kind of direction do you want?” she says, harshly. “Because if you come to me right before dress rehearsal saying everything is wrong I’m going to skullfuck you.”

Octavia raises an eyebrow. “How do you do comedy with Red Dawn: The Musical?”

“Isn’t the fact that it’s a musical a comedy in itself?”

Octavia snickers. “Okay, you got a point. Fine, we’ll take a more comedic approach with that.” She turns to the actors. “You girls get that?” They all say yes. She turns back to you. “Alright, Red Dawn: The Musical is now a comedy.”

You smile. “Great. Let’s read some lines.”

With that, you spend the rest of rehearsal practicing through the lines. You also coordinate with Octavia and Theatre Tech on certain backstage stuff like when to draw curtains, when to give lights, and who to put spotlights on during musical numbers.

With that, rehearsal is finished. Octavia bids you farewell and heads home. Kitten comes up to you. “Hey, Trudy.”

“Kitten, loved you in your role!”

> Go Somewhere (Barbershop)

The bell rings as you open the door to this very humble looking barbershop, which can only be identified as such thanks to that Barber’s pole and a sign that says, “Gutierrez and Sons.” You’re greeted immediately by Diego.

“Ah, Gertrude! Who’s your friend?”

You say, “This is Carol. We all call her Kitten.”

He offers his hand, a warm smile on his face. “Carol! Good to meet you.” He frowns however. “Your hair is so long. Here for a cut? Or perhaps a styling?”

Kitten says, “Well we were just-“

Ramirez looks over from her position in one of the barber’s chairs, her hair getting cut a little past shoulder length by a man even bigger than Diego. “Ah, Pres. Good to see you.” The man speaks in rough Spanish to Ramirez, to which she responds also in Spanish. She points to the man, “This is Diego’s father.”

You say, “Nice to meet you, Mr. Gutierrez, I’d like to thank you for your donation to the Tankery Program, means a lot.”

Mr. Gutierrez simply laughs, then slaps your back, shouting something in Spanish. Diego also communicates in the native tongue as well, to which Mr. Gutierrez looks surprised. Mr. Gutierrez then laughs even harder.

Diego holds up some scissors. “So, come to get your haircut today?”

“Sure, I could use just an inch off.” You swish your hair a little. “I like to keep my hair around this length anyway, just a little past my shoulders.”

Diego nods. “And how about Carol?”

You ask, “Kitten, you-“

“Do I have to?” she asks.

You say, “Yes.” Kitten sighs at that, and you continue with, “Your hair’s gonna get long. Longer that hair gets, the more trouble it’ll be to wash and get dry.”

Ramirez speaks mockingly in Spanish to Diego, to which Diego blushes and shouts at her. Ramirez and Mr. Gutierrez simply laugh at his expense. With that, you and Kitten then sit down in chairs, Kitten a little than eager.

Diego scratches his chin, then calls up for someone upstairs. A woman comes down and asks a question to Diego in more Spanish, to which Diego motions to Kitten, speaking in the same language. Diego says, “This is my mother.”

Mrs. Gutierrez apparently has a bit of a squee moment at Kitten’s expense, tugging on her cheek and talking cutesy to her in Spanish. Man, you really wish you knew how to speak Spanish.

With that, Diego starts to work on your hair. He asks you, “So, Gertrude. How are you doing today? I trust you are well?”

Diego nods. “You come back later, yes?”

“Sure. If I got the time.” You look over and quickly a stifle a laugh at Kitten’s expense. She’s simply puffing her cheeks angrily as Mrs. Gutierrez styles her hair into a nice braid, thrown over her right shoulder.

Mrs. Gutierrez claps her hands together, apparently saying “Done” in Spanish you assume. Kitten sighs, then looks up at Mrs. Gutierrez. “Thank you,” she says.

Fuck it, now might be a good time to try to learn how to cook. You wrap an apron around yourself, then open up the cookbook to something easy. Fettucine Alfredo, only requires a bit of pasta, some cheese, butter, and maybe a bit of chicken to go along with it. You start setting ingredients down on the counter, whistling innocently until Kitten shows up next to you.

“What the fuck are you doing?” she asks, looking scared out of her mind.

“I’m cooking!” you say, grinning.

“… have you gone mad?” she asks. “Since when did you learn to cook?”

“I didn’t learn to cook,” you point at the cookbook. “I’m LEARNING how to cook.”

Kitten crosses her arms. “Trudy, I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but anytime you go near a kitchen with the intent of even microwaving something, something is going to burst into flames.”

You roll your eyes. “Oh, Kitten, you’re worrying too much.” You snap your fingers. “Besdies, Anyone can cook. It’s right there on the cookbook! And you remember Ratatouille?”

“In Ratatouille, it wasn’t that Anyone could cook, it was that a cook could come from anywhere.”

“Precisely why I’m going to cook. Trust me, what’s the worst that could happen?”

Kitten sighs. “Alright, fine, I won’t stop you.” She walks over to the bed, returning to her laptop.

You scoff. Of course you can cook! It’s not like you’re going to die.

Then again, you remember the LAST TIME you tried to cook.

The sirens blare as you, Kitten, and all of the Sophomores in the dorm stand outside, waiting for the Naval Studies Rescue students to declare the area safe. Everyone’s been dragged out of their studying and their free time, complaining about what happened.

You and Kitten simply stand awkwardly by the street.

Kitten says, “I told you, you can’t cook.”

You say, “Okay, I admit. I think I made a slight tactical error.”

“You think?”

Nancy walks up to you, towel wrapped around her incredibly wet body. “I was showering while this happened. You know, if you want to learn how to cook, you can just ask me.”

You nod. “Yeah, thanks, Nancy.”

Lisa comes by as well. “How the fuck did you set your dorm room on fire?”

“I didn’t set my dorm room on fire,” you say harshly. “… just the oven.”

Lisa says, “Well, people are gonna be real pissed.”

With that, the Naval Studies Rescue students, clad in firesuits and helmets walk down the stairs. “Alright, it’s clear,” says the lead one. She walks up to you, looking like she’s trying to suppress a laugh. “Next time, cook with supervision.” She walks off, however her colleague walks by eating out of a very familiar pan.

“This is some good fettucini alfredo,” she says. Then she walks away.

You sigh. Good grief.

“Right, and you simply leave that for as long as the cookbook recommends,” says Nancy.

You nod. “I see.” You scratch the back of your head, laughing nervously. “Gotta admit though, cooking is not one of my stronger suits.”

Lisa looks up from her textbook. “You just realized this?”

Also, she's got a shitton of good things under her belt. Funding the Skycraft club, getting the Sewing Club back on its feet, bringing good PR for the school with the Tankery program.

Yes, we failed knowing we can't cook and did so without any supervision in which past experience tells us this is not a good idea.

The sophomore class was mildly inconvenienced for all of half an hour. Truly a disaster.

And just what would the newspaper club and Fredendall have to say? That since we can't cook so we shouldn't be on the council? I'm sure our ability to flip burgers is very relevant to running a ship the size of a star destroyer.
>>
>>28887622
There's a difference between "can't cook" and "actively sets the oven on fire".

"What happened last time" is not a very good warning, it could mean anything from made a mess to burned the food.

Personally I think it's rather dumb, it takes effort to set an oven on fire.
>>
>>28887687
People have lives and when they are interrupted by something like a fire alert, they will be pissed, if we were a regular student we can shrug it off but we're the sophomore student council president.

No, but they can say we nearly burned down our dorm room or the entire dorm.
>>
>>28887687
People can hold grudges against you for the most petty of reasons. Considering that the sophomores were DIRECTLY inconvenienced by this event, they're bound to remember.

Are you kidding? One of my old roommates was decent cook and she kept setting off our smoke alarm all the goddamn time. I think setting the oven on fair is a bit of an exaggeration, but tripping an alarm is a definite possibility.
>>
>>28887622

Fredendall's a bitch and everyone knows this anyway, and the newspaper club already hates our guts.

We burnt the oven, not the entire dormitory (thought that probably got a bit smokey). and while it might look as if we're a menace to society, our past actions prove we are not.
>>
>>28887702

You take to the textbooks and start doing your math homework. Nothing too special, just basic geometry and algebra. That’s what it is for General Math Studies 2. You yawn as you work though problem after problem after problem. Meanwhile, Lisa has taken it upon her self to tell you that you’re wrong on almost every problem you think you’ve gotten done.

“That’s wrong.”

“Thank you, Lisa,” you say sarcastically as you erase all of your work and start again.

Nancy looks over and says, “That one’s wrong too.”

You say, “Thank you, everyone.”

With that, you finish off the math homework. Your stomach growls, but just in time for Nancy to give you your food. You start eating as a knock comes to the door. Nancy answers it to see, “Ramirez! Good to see you!”

“Haha,” you say dryly. “Very funny.”

Lisa says, “Speaking of which, Boss. We move out Friday to the Tank Meet. There we’ll get our brackets picked. Think we might get lucky on our first opponent?”

But she might come over to our side if she gets elected and finds out that the school will close if we don't win and Fredendall has been working to fuck us over to prevent us from doing so.
>>
>>28889006
If the strongest fact she has is that we accidentally set a fire, then I think we're good.

I personally don't see any embezzling, but I'm not an expert.

The team aspect, well that's mostly crap especially since we've had what, two months of training and our line-up is comparatively shit?

I'm not giving up the election yet.

I don't want the first tourney match to be episode skipped.

Speaking of, have they released the Anzio OVA yet?

“Well, Lisa, I’ll be honest with you. Anything and everything can happen. If you’re hoping for it, maybe we’ll get lucky yes and get paired with a shit team.” You snap your fingers. “For now though, we oughta get cozy and start studying. Like you said, we move out Friday, stay at a five-star hotel or something, then meet our opponents.”

Lisa nods. “Alright, fair point.”

Nancy pumps her fist. “YES! He’s burning! That’s another kill!”

“Yeah, that puts you one behind me, Nancy,” says Kitten, smirking.

Nancy says, “Oh, must you trample on my victories! I have ten kills! I’m practically an ace by now!”

You close up the laptop and sit in between them. “I see you’re doing well for yourself, Nancy.”

“Oh, I do absolutely fine when it comes to Crimson Skies, President.” She turns her Devastator into a horizontal barrel roll, trying to outfly an incoming Bloodhawk. “Just gotta…” It flies right into her sights, then Nancy fires a rocket, knocking it clean out of the sky. “Scratch another! Yes!”

Kitten looks over at you, handing you a controller. “Want to play next round?”

You nod, grinning. “You know it.”

Added to Schteel finishing up, I'm running GuP: Sherbrooke Girls High Quest from tomorrow at 11pm GMT and then every day we don't LGA from then on out

It'll be same universe and everything, and if you want a weekday tank fix it really is the way to go
>>
>>28889332
If anything, that shouldn't be embezzling because that's their money and they can do with it what they want.
>>
>>28889397

Crap, forgot my trip

Good job running today, Schteel.
>>
>>28889376

Thanks heaps boss, same time next week?
>>
>>28889409
Since when has the truth, decency, or just trying to not be a bitch been anything related to Fredendall?

I still say the school's only closing after this year because she asked daddy to wait for her to graduate before he defunded it.
>>
>>28889318
I got no word on it yet, but I'm waiting in anticipation.

>>28889376
Thanks for running Schteel.

I have been working on some portrait images of the Sherman crew minus Lisa, since I've no idea what look to go for her. Also, gonna revise Ramirez first after that description in the barbershop visit.
Might put it up by next thread to see if they'd fit your specifications based on looks.

>>28889478
Seeing as how I agree with that statement in its entirety, I'm pretty sure we've discussed it as far as we can.
>>
>>28889397
I'm glad that your doing this but I hope you won't input romance in this
>>28889409
They took it from other clubs and gave it to us.

we're accomplishes.

The way the school-ship apparently works is:

A. If you're a student council president you can do more or less whatever the fuck you want with the budget.

B. There is no B.

Senior class Bitch does it all the time, she can't blame us.

Well she can, but it's a bunch of bullshit.
>>
>>28889730
But's its also a matter of image, we know she does it and we did it ourselves
