The tram ride back to Veridian Quarter is noticeably less crowded than the ride to Saffron. Then again, it's not really rush hour time for those with intent to return home. The electromagnets hum with nearly 0 noise and the intercom announces the next stop before it begins traveling at progressively higher speeds.

There's a display over the seats across from yours that has some kind of Silph commercial with an extremely cute girl- like the one you used to be- advertising safety procedures on the tram.

"When on the Electro-Tram, be sure to remain seated or hold onto one of the standing bars!" She winks to the viewers- you," The tram moves at suuuper high speeds! and when it stops you might just go flying!!!"
The cartoon shows the sad and comical figure of the girl blasting off into the sky and you smile at that a little bit.
You turn a mem-chip over in your gloved hands that Gustav had given you. It bore the recording of your mother's message. You feel yourself blush a bit cooly at the thought of where it was left off.

A man stares at you from the other side of the tram, you've been trying to ignore him, though it's been hard after noticing him.
His hair is disheveled, his mouth upturned into a grumpy frown, and an unkempt business attire adorning his body.

Despite his stare, he says nothing, and you don't quite remember seeing him before.

I'll wait a few more minutes. Though it's looking like a charm roll.

Ah, for anyone that hadn't been there, I have a 1st form OC to share for review.

EX#012Ampupup
Type: [Electric] Lizard Pup- (Static/Razor Blades)
Danger Class: C
Height: 2'4”
Entry: A vicious little lizard creature. They bear wickedly sharp claws that they gnaw at daily with rough teeth. The friction generates a powerful static that builds up within their scales, causing them to glow with electric light along their belly. They do not bite, instead preferring to slice up their paralyzed prey with blade-like claws and gnash up the meat. Their voltage is enough to completely immobilize a tauros. Like most electric types, it has an aversion to water.
[Appearance] Typically observed as quadrapedal lizards with feathery scales at their shoulders and haunches. They are often black with yellow patches along the side of their belly. They feature overlarge claws at their fore that will evolve into a fascimile of hands once they evolve into bipeds. Sharp scales lie at the end of their tail. Females have a single one, while males have a fan of three.

Uh, I'd say to decrease the power somewhat, but I don't know how big the OC is. I imagine that the bigger it is, the more electricity it can store and unleash.
>>
>>28846057
for some reason, the smaller something is, the more powerful I expect it to be in regard to things like poison, lightning, fire powers, etcetera.
>>
>>28846083
smaller scorpions produce stronger poison so your not entirely wrong.

Phanpy can carry an adult human on its back (1 ft thing)

I listed Ampupup's height as 2'4" average. Seems fine to me. If it's something that bears further concern, I'll lower it.
More of a physical attacker anyway.

I'm not well versed in Pokemon Powerlevel, so I might not be the one suited for this discussion. It just seemed a bit too much for me, for a first stage. (Arbok is also big and second stage)

Anyway, it seems like we have our first failure at charming someone. Strangely fitting, too. Don't think it's worthy to spend tenacity or something on a random stranger.

>>
You take a deep breath and look to the man, an uncertain smile trembles across your face under the man's glare. Squeezing your eyes shut, the fortitude you've gained through rocket training helps you relax.
You've been through worse after all.
You turn to him you give him a friendly wave with an amicable close-lipped smile, maybe he's friendly?

The man's frown deepens for a moment before he sighs, giving way to what must've been hidden beneath that disgruntled expression.

"Hello there sir. My name is Cerulean. It's good to meet you." You extend your hand, claws covered with gloves, as the man's eyes scan over you once more.

"Didn't you hear Silph-girl? We need to stay seated here or we could die or something."
"Oh." You say, withdrawing the invitation, looking at your hand, remembering Miss Seraphis for a moment.
His eyes closes as he hunches over into the palm of his hand with a sullen look.
"You a ranger, right?"
"I'm a train-"
"Whatever. Does it seem right to you?"
The man's expression doesn't change with his question, both tinged with a certain amount of sadness.
"I'm sorry?"
The man rolls a hand about in the air, sighs again and leans back into the seat,"The world, this place. It's kind of shitty, isn't it?"

You frown a little bit," That's a bad word, sir."
The man smirks at that, the first bit of joy you've seen on his face," It is. And it's fitting for the way things are." He adjusts his yellow tie amongst his gray suit as it hangs from his neck loosely.

"So, you're a trainee."
"Yes." You answer.
"You been to that wood in Veridian?"
"I'm not sure if I follow sir, I-"
"Have you been to that wood?"He raises his voice with a bit of anger, "The one with the monsters?"

You only nod your head, beginning to lose heart in this conversation. This is a very odd man.

"So, think they'll let a human like me in there?"

Some of the strongest pokemon are tiny (though admittedly, it does vary depending on their typing. You can find uber-powerful tiny psychic pokemon, but not powerful tiny fighting pokemon, as a general rule). Electric is a typing that isn't hugely effected by size, and more by how much the pokemon in question is dedicated to the 'electricity' aspect of their being. Bigger electric pokemon tend to have ssome of their strength to other things.

You remember that wood, the things you killed then, the friends you lost, and that gets you. Your eyes, widen, and you feel yourself blanch.
"If they did, wouldn't you die?" Your voice nearly a whisper, yet audible among the hum of the train.

The man smiles piteously, before looking down, letting his messy hair obscure his face from his seat.
"Yeah. Suppose I would."He cups a hand over his eyes, rubbing tiredly.
"Just forget I said anything. I guess I'll just look at them through the glass or something."

The man's behavior is something you weren't quite prepared to deal with. You've never had a conversation like this before. He wants to see live monsters? Without protection?
He'll die. He'll most definitely die.
They hurt people. They kill people. They even kill each other.

You look eyes with the man as he picks his head up, and with your thoughts running errant, you only manage to ask," Why?"

The man pushes his hair back, for a moment regaining what would be some kind of combed handsomeness had he cared for it properly. His eyes have an absence of fire. Not like a chilling cold but more of a smothered ember.

"Why?" He seems to run the question through his mind,"Well maybe because it's a way out they wouldn't investigate. Or maybe because, I don't know. They might not kill me through some intervention of Arceus. Or maybe because I lost my job at Silph due to somebody finding an error in my accounting. Maybe I don't want to go home to my wife and kid to tell them that we'll be moving to Pewter if I don't pick up something somewhere."
He glares at you, a fury behind his eyes as he rises up to standing, towering over your small form.
He starts yelling," I don't know, why don't you tell me why you're some kind of fat fucked up lab rat that-

"Arrival at Veridian Gym Station. Brace yourself for the stop." The intercom blares, with a presiding alarm tone ringing through the cabin.

The Tram suddenly drops to commit to breaking, the man tumbles to the back of the cabin and away from you, your heart pounding from his fearless and mad words.
Are you just going to let a human talk to you like that?

>>
>>28847250
We have changed though. we matured enough to force ourselves to do things that we don't want to do, like hitting Goldie.

People rarely change who they are at heart, they add new and complex levels on top of (or replacing existing layers) to their personality. Ceru's core has not changed.
>>
>>28847250
We did change to become more firm. However, as you can see, the majority of the people here have decided that, while Cerulean has become more confident of herself and is willing to take charge when needed, that does not necessarily lead into her becoming harsh.

With a sigh of your own, you walk over to the man as he's crumpled on the floor of the tram, groaning miserably from the whiplash. Your tail flicking behind you in your civilian dress.
"Sir... Um.. Are you okay?"
You stand over the man, as he flails at you weakly, snapping a hand out to catch his and pulling him up with another pathetic groan on his part.
"Leave me alone, why don't you just go, get off the tram."
"I can't just leave you alone, you're coming with me if you've got nowhere else to go."
The man struggles against your grip, claws pressing against the fabric of your gloves from his ministrations,"Leave me alone kid, just let me-"
"Sir, I will not. You are coming with me."
"And who are you to tell me what I'm doing kid?!" The man's voice raises again.
From the corner of your eye, you see the countdown to the tram's next departure, a few people filing in to gape at the odd display between you and this man.

You lean over to the man, catching his other arm as he swings it, pressing your face near his ear.
As a whisper, "I might be able to help you with that error. Someone's looking into it, and it may get you your job back. Meet me here at Veridian tomorrow morning."

At that, you pull the man up so that he's at least on his knees before you, able to go no further with your short stature, you about face and leave past onlooker, flashing them a toothy, innocent smile, dismaying a few, but you don't care.

You have a bigger lead than you did earlier after all. You're an Elite rocket!

>>
At the Rocket Dorms, you walk through the halls greeting other agents that pass by, many returning with their own form of politeness. They recognize you as Giovanni's favorite trainee. Something that, while you don't necessarily brag about, you enjoy in secret.

The other trainees are often absent from this time, so you don't really expect to run into the others...

On your way to pick up the leftover cake from your room, your sensitive nose catches whiff of something that smells really good. Roses, lavender and fresh Sitrus berries. A perfume? But who's wearing it?

Then, your ears catch something. A song? Someone singing? The voice is familiar, but who is it?

The smell is just good, you can't help but get a little side-tracked, sniffing around at the air to find it.

Where, oh where.. You seem a bit odd following your nose down the halls, though you eventually find yourself amongst the trainee dorms, not so far from your own room.

Lightly touching the door, you read the plate upon it.

"Sanna"

There's a small discoloration amongst the door's surface material that the smell's coming from. Slipping off your glove, you press a fanger against it to soak up a little, observing the amber fluid.
A whiff tells you that it's indeed the source of the smell.

You kind of want to taste it...

Rapping your knuckles on Sanna's door, you expect a rather prompt answer. At that- the singing stops. Curious.

Behind the doors, you hear the frenzied clinking of glass here and there, a voice, Sanna's calling from beyond.
"Whaddya want?! I'm busy right now!"

"It's Cerulean. I smelled something really good, I wanted to know what it is."

There's a pause as the clinking stops for a moment.
"There ain't nuthin' back here! Get outta here Ceru, I'm busy!"

"But it's really good, why can't you tell me?" You frown despite yourself. What is it with people today?

You open the door, and within you see a dark, forest green paint covering Sanna's walls, giving the whole a room the feeling of being just a little bit gloomy, if not like a forest. Sanna sits upon a floormat before a low-rise traditional-styled table with a series of vials before her. The smells from this room are about strong enough to knock you out.
It's a wonder that you hadn't caught this before.

Sanna looks at you with her sharp red eyes glaring from her vine-like hair. A stubborn look upon her face as she blushes with embarassment, as though you caught her with her pants down.

You see that there's a little crucible and other vials leading into strangely molded glass, some of the other vials spilled over from the rush earlier. With wonder apparent on your face, Sanna launches a vine to shut the door closed behind you.
Before you can say anything, Sanna fesses up.
"Okay, so if you know anythin' about nuthin', some celadons specialize in mak'n perfumes. I come from one such a family. Or at least, I did." She looks at a fragrance bubbling inside of a flask, being heat treated.
"It's one of the things I like ta do. Though I'm not of much a mind to let the other trainees in on the whole deal. Somethin' I like to keep on the low end of things, got it?"

You absently nod, the more powerful smells starting to make you more than a little dizzy.

Sanna sighs,"I'm usually betta about keepin all the fragrances in here. An' in my rush I went and spilt a few. Sorry 'bout that... Ah, you doin' okay?"

You kind of just nod again, getting even more dizzy. "Y-yeah... I'm alright..."

"Does it, ah... Smell good? Really?" Sanna seems to scratch between one of her vines shyly at that, obviously embarrassed.

The smells assail your nose with force that you've had little experience in dealing with. The room begins to spin a little, as you nod beside yourself, trying to keep a chipper attitude, a calm demeanor, a-

You feel the chilled contents of your stomach burble up in your throat, roiling with stomach acid.
You take a step back against the closed door, nodding,"Yes, smells go-" You 're interrupted by the reflex to vomit,
"Smells go-" Again, you can't quite say it as the pressure builds, you frantically grab at the door knob, trying to get it open, yet it eludes you with your scrambled senses.
"I, ah... I..."

Senna's eyes take a rather curious look, as she seems rather un-phased by the effects her creations are having upon you. "Hey Ceru, you ok-"

You finally retch, puke burbling out of your mouth as you tear up with more than a little embarrassment,"Sorry, I'm sorry, I-"
Again, a second time, barf comes out and you can't it as the scent mixes with the perfumes.
Sanna just about screams as the chilled stuff and partially digested berries lay upon her wooden floor.

In the next moments, you feel a fine wrap around you, and the world fly as you're tossed out of her room. You failing to tell her what you really thought about the perfume, or about the mission.

Though, as the oppressive scents leave your nostrils after a few harsh sneezes and rebound baby-barfs, you get up again in tears at that horrible display.

It's getting a bit late.

You return to your room to throw off your ruined clothes, regretful that you've ruined your favorite water-blue dress.

You run into your personal shower of water drawn from Cerulean Lake, and towel off as quick as you can with the sun setting.

You slip into a black dress that at least matches the black prints of your fur. At the very least Lilac should like it. Or did she like a spookier color? Who knows?

Running late, you grab the cake in a little container with a little spoon and just about fly past Sanna's door, stopping briefly to knock for an apology...

No response. She's either gone, or doesn't want to talk.
Gritting your teeth a bit at that embarrassing scene, you try to force it from your head as you run out to the Station to catch a tram just as it arrives.

Hopping on the tram, you resolve to take care of your return when you actually do get on that bridge. After some waiting, the shuttle lifts off and speeds down its track.

No one else is with you in the cabin, something that kind of spooks you a little with your current destination. The hum of the tram and the little ads on the monitors your only real "company."

"Be careful after dark!" Says Silph girl as she carefully tips toe about an empty ally with a flickering light. In the next moment, some thugs jump out and attack Silph girl, only to be stunned by some weapon taken out by sleight of hand.
"And never leave home with your Silph-approved Volt Orb stunning wave!"

The ad pans off to a disclaimer that you read quickly.

"Silph is not responsible for assailants resistant to the charge. Silph is not responsible for children stunning each other with the device. Silph is not responsible for sterility caused by the device. Silph is not responsible for your baby's safety should they be allowed to handle this device.
Further Disclaimer upon actual product, thank you for believing in Silph and have a glorious day"

Arrival at the Lavender Quarter is... Needless to say, "different" from what it is during the day.

In the night, there's an odd mist that seems to pour from the spire, embracing the old-styled church of stone.

The lavender church... You haven't really ever been in there, and no reason to arrive at the place.

You proceed to the Lavender spire with the absolute silence of the night bearing down upon you, the spire seeming to glow with the ghostly flame of the spirit candles within. You hold the cake container close and swallow as you feel watched with gradually increasing intensity as you draw closer.
As usual, a Miko stands at the door bearing the cleansing stick. Tired eyes blink at you dutifully as she looks you over.
"A late night for a visitor. Or are you a wayward spirit?"

You've been through this many times before, though never with that question. "I'm here to bring cake to somebody here, Lilac."

The miko gives a slight nod. Ah, yes. You come for one of ours." Her voice seems to whisper out among the mist that pours over this place, sending uncomfortable chills down your spine. Spooky feelings filling your bones.

She casts her wand over you, checking you for evil things...

>[]"Umm, sure, I guess. I'll stay here tonight."

Don't get it removed yet, considering the oddest things that have happened to us recently were Cornelia and the suicidal guy I think this ghost might be attached to our investigation.

Or involving our Mother or the Bear dude.

So let's go visit Lilac and have her look into the ghost for us instead of removing it.
>>
>>28851134
We ask if Lilac will let us speak with spirit dude.

"Your mind churns with the events of now and today, you've met with quite a few odd people, and yet a shadow stands out in the back of your mind. One that you can't quite place.

"Um, if it's alright, I wouldn't mind spending the night, tonight. May I enter?"

The Miko stares at the cloudy smoke, slowly shaking her head,"I will need to suppress the things influence. Such phantoms are seldom good omens, even if they do seek their own rest."

The smoke changes form, and you feel a positive feeling run over you, absconding the wight upon your shoulders slight. You feel good and lively again. As you should be.

"You may proceed in peace, visitor." She mumbles and gestures for you to continue on.

Seemingly endless stairs later, you stop upon Lilac's floor whether you like it or not. As before, she sits upon one of a few cushions upon the floor. Meditating diligently as she has often done as of late.
Her eyes perk open, the trademark of her name. She hops up and runs over to you with a joyous smile upon her face, and her robes billowing. She collides with you rather hard, as she hugs you into that chest of hers that's swelled over the past year.

"Ahh, Cerulean, a most chilling person to see/. What brings you out into my chambers at this time of night?" She snuggles you, and you gleefully return the hug with one arm, your cake in the other.

Thus began your Lilac night.

Well i guess your off the hook then
>>
>>28851338
Night, Prof. See you then.

Question; where in the schedule do we fit any time for normal education? Or do cadets just not learn anything aside from what they need to do as a ranger? Since Devon apparently has a minor background in science, I was just interested in how much he really knows.
>>
>>28851338
damnit.

See you sunday. Also you always start so late.
>>
>>28851338
Will completion of this mission level up our remoraids?
>>
>>28851392
Are you referring to our mission from Ms. Seraphis?
>>
>>28851359
They're learned and tutored more on their own time. There of course is an intellectual part of their training as opposed to pure physical.

Devon's background in science is from his quarter background as that's something they've tended to specialize in. Ceru isn't the only one with something that she's taken from her previous quarter.

>>28851361
Used to run quests way later.
Unless you mean that I was late starting. Because I couldn't do much about it this time.

>>28851392
Depends on how you complete it. If there were perfectly linear ways to complete missions it wouldn't be all that interesting.
>>
>>28851398
Yes

I hope it does
>>
>>28851338
What would have happened if we looked into the singing instead of the smell?
>>
>>28851408
Well it is wierd because the singing stopped when we knocked on Sannas door.
>>
>>28851401
I meant late starting, yes.

though I don't mind you running late when it comes to ending.
>>
>>28851408
I assume that's a spoiler. But I'm thinking Devon was the one who was singing. You know. Since he and Senna are going to be our team mates.

>>28851416
I assume that the singer was alerted by the sound, knew someone was walking around in the dorms, and decided to stop quickly so as to not be found out.
>>
>>28851408
Can't say, still likeyhood of running into it.
>>
>>28851458
did you ever tell us the pitch of the singing? High, low, falsetto, manly?
>>
>>28851498
It was really quite faint. Without Krytten ears, you wouldn't have even heard it through the doors.
>>
>>28851528
Ah, so someone was singing within their room.

Anyway, Prof. Your OC from earlier? Where will you be introducing these things? I remember you saying something about the Orange Isles, but will you be peppering the normal regions with these things as well?
>>
>>28851528
So the only person who would have had a chance of hearing our knock over their own singing is Devon. Gotcha
>>
>>28851554
Or the zubat kids.
>>
>>28851572
Although in all likelihood, probably Devon.
>>
>>28851554
You know we've got multiple Zubats-lines around, right?
>>
>>28851528
Oh hey, Prof. Archived the thread already.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28845506/

A question:
>>28847757
>At the Rocket Dorms, you walk through the halls greeting other agents that pass by, many returning with their own form of politeness. They recognize you as Giovanni's favorite trainee. Something that, while you don't necessarily brag about, you enjoy in secret.

Does this line here mean that, aside from the named trainees we know, there are other Rocket cadets around? How many are there? At least, in comparison to the normal gyms?

>>28851579
Only 2 of them; Haru
>>
>>28851595
yeah, how many rockets are there?
>>
>>28851579
>>28851595
>Only 2 of them; Haru and Peri

>>28851528
Oh, also noticed that Talse hasn't been added to the characters list yet. Obviously, you're too tired to do that now, but just thought I'd mention it here while you're still around.
>>
>>28851595
Haru, and Peri. Then I decided to be broad and include the Golbat Senior Rocket as well, even though she wasn't really a possibility.
>>
>>28851579
i corrected myself here>>28851572
>>
>>28851612
I think only the ones from the dinner
>>
>>28851553
I'll be introducing them to relevant areas. The entry should be a decent enough giveaway.

>>28851595
The Rocket's grounds are relatively small, though there are other Established Rocket Rangers around aside from the ones you met before.
Unfortunately they're stuck in the background for now.

Also, thank you for archiving. It's a big help.

>>28851612
Specifically, compared to the average population of other gymas, there are only around 70-100 rockets. Cadets or full-fledged, and most on away missions either leading non-rockets or established of full rocket teams. The number can't be quite specific as those on longer missions are Schrodinger's cat. Neither alive nor dead until they return.
>>
>>28851662
So how many rangers are in each of the Gyms? obviously they are going to vary like the peweters having less but give us an estimation
>>
so:
What antics are we planning on doing on our GHOST SLEEPOVER?
>>
>>28851687
Would the Pewters really have less rangers? I assume more would opt to become rangers just so that they'd live a little bit better than everyone else in their quarter.

>>
>>28851756
No, the ghost apparently possessed us after our birthday party, since the day before that was the last time we visited the Spire.
>>
>>28851756
Haunter, or Gengar. Whichever one is stronger.
>>
>>28851687
Pewters actually have a reasonable amount of rangers overall, an average number as many of their citizens are willing to go through the surgery.

Saffron actually has the fewest as catching Esper-types is actually REALLY HARD. Aside from that, they're born. So that keeps their number down.

Fuschia has an issue with poison types being naturally volatile overall. They often limit their rangers to clans or those that would come forward as a poison type.

Cinnabar actually has very few rangers overall with the viable Fire-types often being too dangerous or elusive.

Cerulean quarter really needs more background flavor for the number of cadets there..Their numbers would actually be pretty high, though perhaps not the highest as Ceruleans have a pretty content life.

Celadons then, while grass types aren't hard to find, the quarter isn't exactly all about rangers. Best leave that to the Veridians whom in truth have the most.

>>28852121
Criteria is that it'd need to be a ranger that:
1. can learn the move naturally.
2. Actually learned it.
3. Dedicated enough time to master it.

Hidden power is naturally learned by very few monsters, for instance.
Then there's Giga Impact/Hyper Beam
Naturally learned by few and requiring evolution, often max to even make use of it.

I'll work around it, though while the moves can be learned, it doesn't mean that they come easy.

Why Agatha, specifically? There are other mediums around. Look, when I say appropriate, I mean that a solution would be at hand that would not require us having to graft a new part. >>28852410
See, you're overreacting again. That's not even my intent.

This ain't Dark Souls.

>>28852412
That latter part is what I was talking about. If she was just a named background character, yeah, she could end up dying without ever being given a chance to live. But she's one of our potential contacts and teammates in the future. This is our first time interacting with her, and you're acting like that just because we failed at it, it means that her character is stunted and she's one of the more likelier NPCs to die. I'm telling you that you're being premature.

option B is rule of cool that some anon made up and gets us killed or gets a friend killed

See, that's the kind of shit I'm talking about.

No, you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. We won't instantly die because of a danger roll. And we certainly won't die from a roll where we are unable to give any kind of input at all.

You're hurting me.

The reason you gave is unrelated to what was being discussed. Alright?

That said, she's no more in danger of dying than any other ranger who lacks an implant for defense. It's more appropriate to say that she has the same chance of dying as everyone else, while those who have defensive implants have a greater chance of not dying.
>>
>>28852518
...well shit.
I imagine we'll be leaving first thing in the morning, but still. That's worrisome.
>>
>>28852525
yes, what is being discussed is that we have a perfectly reasonable chance of dying. if we double crit fail in the field there will still be a way to live, but it would be hard and may force us to abandon a friend.

We are not invulnerable, rolls can fuck us over.
>>
>>28852548
on a similar yet kind of unrelated note this is a reason for getting shelder implants.
>>
>>28852563
And we won't die instantly just from a bad roll made to see how much danger there is.

The rolls work in combination with our decisions.

not really. All the human armor is on the inside. Skin is really more of a protective dust cover, and trying to make it into armor causes all sorts of problems.

Well we already have Quick attack AND faint attack.

We upgrade those enough, we'll be unhittable.
>>

Greaves and gauntlets in addition would take probably two or three.

>>
>>28852613
We're normal type?
>>
>>28852628
we're talking about wearable armor, anon.

The kind that's dead.

Shellders and cloysters don't need to be alive to have the physical property of having a nearly indestructable shell. We can use that while it's dead. It's not like a fire pokemon's flame.
>>
>>28852630
we have access to normal attacks, so yes.
>>
>>28852607
>All the human armor is on the inside.
i don't even know what you are trying to say.

>>28852615
only on the offense, not if the enemy has initiative

Remember people, Prof has said that we have been incredibly lucky to have not taken serious damage yet.
>>
>>28852604
That's the Pewter fighting style. Their philosophy is to be able to tank attacks. If we ever faced an opponent that could kill a ranger in one hit unless they have any defense, we can leave the tanking to Bruise or any other ranger whose specialty that is. We don't need to fulfill all the roles in our team.

>>28852614
That's what I've been saying. Then the other anon came up with this "rule of cool" thing and all that stuff.

>>28852628
We definitely don't need gauntlets then.
>>
>>28852645
Rest is a psychic move.
And we're not a psychic.
>>
>>28852630
no but we do have access to normal type moves.
>>
>>28852648
all the naturally occurring human armor is things like muscle layers, fat layers, and bone placement. Skin doesn't really protect much, and making it into a protective surface carries all sorts of complications, problems, and disabilities.

Besides, it's way easier to just wear a shellder vest than to get shellder external implants. Only reason to get a shellder implant would be for internal work.
>>
>>28852640
but it still isn't near as good, can easily be torn or ripped off, doesn't regenerate/heal, wears down over time, is clucky and will restrict our movement (which implanted will not)

>>28852622
i was thinking implants on our outer arms/legs and shoulders so we can block things with our arms. though the vest might be a nice (if restricting) addition
>>
>>28852672
We've not seen anyone do it, so I'm assuming there's a problem with this plan.

Either Shellder are hard to get (doesn't mean they're not common, but they might be violent), the shell is too hard to shape, or it's too valuable for other uses.
>>
>>28852640
> Hide: Fluffy hide that keeps in the cold, may be frozen into sharp spikes.
wearable armour would get in the way of our weaponized fir that covers our whole body.
>>28852672
Shellder leg mods as the legs are about the only play not extensivly modded already. built in greaves.
>>
>>28852613
>>28852645
we are not normal or evil. we can know normal and evil moves without being that type
>>
>>28852680
>is clucky and will restrict our movement (which implanted will not)
Uh, no. What's your reasoning for that?

We already have armor on our arms. Or, at least, we will have when we evolve our crytten implant.
>>
>>28852680
it's as good, and will hinder our movement exactly as much as implanted would, since if it was implanted it would need to go on exactly the same place as a vest would anyway.

The only problems are ones of regeneration and wear, and the solution is hunting more shellders.
>>
>>28852691
normal, flying and ghost don't count as types
>>
I think replacing the majority of our bones, especially our skull, ribs, spine and forearms with shelldar would be useful. Protect the most vulnerable parts of ourselves and giving ourself a natural shield to block attacks.
>>
>>28852652
look, being able to take an attack or two to a few areas that you would specificaly block with is not the same as just sitting and taking attack aftre attack.
>>
I really think you guys are going about this the wrong way.

Crytten's specialty is speed. Not defense. We should be focusing on avoiding stuff, not taking hits.
>>
>>28852688
>>28852687
why do you guys want to install armor onto us, permanently, in the same positions as wearable armor?
It's exactly as restrictive to mobility, but we can't take them off ever.
>>
>>28852703

>>
the shell of the shelldar and cloyster are very, very light. as long as its not all in one piece then it won't restrict our movement at all.
>>
>>28852711
at least we can all agree that shellder skin armor is the most movement restrictive armor possible.
>>
>>28852693

Wha?
I didn't say that.
I just said, if this plan was so good, why aren't others doing it?

There's gotta be a catch.
>>
>>28852727
the catch is probably that the shells go off to seraph or active duty teams due to their value as tools, weapons, and armor.
>>
>>28852725
What's your reasoning for why it wouldn't restrict our movement if it was implanted.......
>>
>>28852706
because when evo'd to cloyster we'd have indestructible shins that can shoot spikes
>>
>>28852734
indestructable shins really isn't that great, since it redirects all bone breaking to the femurs, our primary blood suppliers of the body.

Our shins and forearms are designed to break to prevent damage to more important core parts of the body.
>>
I swear I remember Professor saying that internal Shellder implants don't work.

But hell I dunno.

Doesn't matter anyway. We don't need to implant anything for a bit.
>>
>>28852734
It's not indestructible. Prof said as much here
>>28852298
And that would restrict our movements even more because of how bulky it'd be. We're a speed type character. Let's build on that instead of trying to reach out for everything. Leave defense to Bruise.
>>
>>28852697
think about this, when something is on top of your skin (armor in this case) it WILL restrict your movement by sliding around a bit and restricting joints and generally getting in the way.

Now if it were part of your skin (and not place on your joints) it will not restrict you movement. or rather it will restric your movement about as much as your skin does.
>>
>>28852752
Actually, it will restrict your movement exactly as much as wearing one, due to the fact it will need to cover the same areas at the same thickness to provide equivalent protection.
>>
>>28852750
>I swear I remember Professor saying that internal Shellder implants don't work.
He said that, when they evolved, we'd have spikes coming out of our body. And another anon, who actually did have bone spikes, said that would hinder movements a lot.

>>28852752
That argument doesn't hold up since there are ways to make armor nonrestrictive.
>>
>>28852764
>Another anon who did have bone spikes
Right, I remember hearing that.

That was kinda...worrisome. I assume it's a disability or something.
>>
>>28852763
though, from a medical standpoint, spiked bones will restrict your movement WAY more than wearing spiked armor.

Because bone spurs cause severely restricted movement. That's a symptom.
>>
>>28852707
that is exactly what they do. go find Profs entry for them.

i think it was some thing like Guard but don't defend wheree they just absorb blow after blow while dishing out damage.

>>28852724
you mean least. as long as it is not on our joints.

>>28852733

I don't understand the obsession with armour.

Missions are mainly centered around resource acquisition, live monster capture, monster extermination, or exploration.

Stealth is better for all of those, which the repel gear facilitates. Even when your goal is combat with monsters, you do not run out there and trade blows. You set up an ambush and hit it with overwhelming force, just like we did with the Kakuna in the forest. A shell does not help with that.

>>28852986
>less effecient
Yes, less efficient by the weight of some -straps-.

Which is such a small amount as to be a rounding error when compared with our general strength.

No reason to stick armor onto the skin other than to permanently make cerulean unable to scratch herself.
>>
Mm. It's hard when people stop thinking about how these sorts of things impact the character development. Seriously, guys.
>>
>implying connected armor doesn't also require strapping

If you're not sticking it on there with sufficient cartilage, then it will get torn off as easily as skin does.
>>
>>28853017
It is not the weight that restricts. it is the fact that you have something STRAPPED VERY VERY TIGHTLY TO YOUR BODY IN SEVERAL DIRECTIONS. this is to keep it from sliding around and moving which it will do anyway just not as much, but tight straps on your body will restrict you.
>>
>>28853016

fine, then how are you going to remove your armor when it gets spat on by any one of the numerous poisonous, acidic, or lava based pokemon?
>>
>>28853198
Eh, we could've easily done our whole career with Seel/Dewgong.

But the opportunity presented itself...
>>
>>28853202
yeah, it's a way better idea.
>>
>>28853198
Or all the espers.
>>
>>28853195
not just as restrictive we have gone over this here >>28853069
>>28853036
>>28853055
>>28852874

connecting tissue does not in any way equal straps, that is just stupid.

you know how long removing armor takes? several minutes at least if it anything decent.

>>28853212
see above
>>
But goddamnit, disregarding the armor issue, we need to graft shellder if we get the chance because it gives us consistent 125 BP ice, rock, and grass damage with skill link. Become the machine gun sniper.
>>
>>28853251
you've been debunked at literally every turn with all of those examples.
>>
>>28853264
none of those "debunkings" have been in any way valid.
>>
>>28853257
If only we could dissect the part that gives it Skill Link.
Hum
>>
>>28853251
>confusing donning time of entire sets of armor with donning time of individual pieces
>using donning time from D&D no less

Well, I guess I can disregard you.
>>
>>28852823
>snorunt
this is a good idea and would look less stupid than a snorunt hat
>>
>>28853273
more valid than your points. There's no reason to attach the armor to the lady.
>>
>>28853278
i have never and will never play DnD. usually removing a section of your armor requires undoing a multitude of straps to remove said piece of armor.
>>
I can't even deal with this stupidity anymore, you guys are nearing HQR levels of retard. i'm gone.
>>
>>28853293
A few straps does not several minutes mean, anon.
Unless you are using an extremely loose definition of "several" and "minute"
>>
>>28853309
good point. This guy can enjoy his crippled shellcats, I've got to sleep.
>>
>>28853309
>>28853323
If it makes you both feel better you're both wrong.

Captain Cloyster shield a-go
>>
>>28853353
Fucking hell stop it with the captain cloyster shit. It's almost as bad as tail hands guy.
>>
>>28853353
actually, I'm a proponent for the cloystershield.
>>
>>28853368
>tail hands guy.
?
>>
>>28853372
sure, just now for Ceru as it cuts half of her offensive options
>>
>>28853392
>Having a removable shield cuts offensive option
Wat
Confirmed for mad anon.
>>
>>28853392
???

It's not implanted, anon. You can take it off or choose not to use it.
>>
>>28853388
Some guy wouldn't shut up about Aipom/Ambipom tail-hands. It was dumb. Much dumber than a Cloyster shield since that doesn't require a surgery that could be going towards something that provides much greater combat power.
>>
>>28853401
your holding it, as such one omnigun and set of claws is unavailable.
>>
>>28853415
they might be useful for Goldy but not us.
>>
>>28853444
only a few types of shields designed for a specific type of parrying require holding.

Most are strapped on, or some combination of strapped and holding.

And we can put it down when we need to make a snipershot or go full claws.
>>
>>28853461
I'm saying implants or nothing. it just ain't worth the effort otherwise
>>
>>28853500
but it's plainly worth the effort, as the protection inherent is a physical property of the shell.

Also, it's way easier to kill pokemon than capture them.

Also implanting spiked plates sounds like a good way to disable cerulean
>>
>>28853500
>Nu uh, my way or the high way
Dude, fuck you. Seriously.
>>
>>28853518
>>28853531
actually, yeah, can I change my argument?
Fuck that guy
>>28853500
>>
>late to the party
>sees cloyster arguements
I'll bite, just so I actually say something on this thread.

I like the shield, but I feel that we should only do that if we remove the Crytten implants.

This does bring a question though: does the shield need to be connected to you to evolve, or is there some way for it to remain alive and growing without a host?
>>
>>28853975
>remove mother's gift
unlikely, as for evolving it it would probably need to be alive in someway for that to work. either grafted to someone or in the wild.
>>
>>28853975
The Shield idea, as I understood it, was harvesting a fully grown Cloyster's shell and using that as a shield, not a graft.
>>
>>28853975
>>28854012
personally I say screw it. between the Crytten hide that can be frozen into a spiky mantle and the Cartilage that will harden in to armour on evolution I say we have things covered.
especially once we can use blizzard or hail to trigger snow veil at will
>>
>>28854012
It's stated before that after the initial surgery, there's no need to roll if you to put it back again on a later date.

We don't always have to be the quick and cold feline assassin. Think different loadouts, only it takes a hell of a lot of effort to switch, so information before a mission is key.

>>28854027
specialization is good, but being able to switch specializations as if each was our personal favorite is ELITE

>>28854022
so how do we get it to evolve if all we have is a shellder?
>>
>>28854038
the way I see it we'll be ELITE DPS that can handle all ranges, also you can't remove implants that have evolved so specialization is the name of the game if you want to be at all relavent on harder missions.
>>
>>28854063
>>28854038
furthermore we can cover our weaknesses with Leadership and good teammates
>>
>>28854038
>so how do we get it to evolve if all we have is a shellder?
If all you have is a shellder then you aren't enacting operation Captain Cloyster, are you? If there was a Shellder in our hands I would be trying to get's it's burst-fire-control-systems up in my meat. (and watching the continued shitstorm between the pro and anti-shell leagues)
>>
>>28854070
This. I'd like to think that the majority of us here understand that we can lean on others to help us out.
>>
>>28854063
wait, we can't!? what do we do about the remoraids/octillery? I'm fine with keeping Crytten if that's the case, but I'm not so sure about giant arms loaded with waterguns. It would rather interfere with the claws and the "moving fast"
>>
>>28854088
>burst-fire-control-systems up in my meat.
I second that
>>
>>28854100
Have you, uh, seen the monster the crytten is based on? It wouldn't interfere at all.
>>
>>28854100
I'm not going to go archive trawling, but I'm reasonably sure he said the arm expansion was a few inches. And I feel quite confident predicting that there would be no penalty associated with them, but if you are concerned it seems like something that would be quick to ask Prof about (even in a QTG thread if shows up).
>>
>>28854124
I've seen Barioth, and even if her arms don't get heavier(water is heavy), you get bigger, bulkier arms without increased muscle mass or claw length. It's kinda bad.

Barioth wasn't much for claw attacks, anyway. It focused on breath, charging, and tackles. We can't really look to it for examples or predictions.
>>28854128
Having more reach might be good, but if Prof doesn't want to get this nitty gritty with the details, I guess it's fine.
>>
>>28854153
>without increased muscle mass

Says you. We ain't Rocket ELITE for nothing.
>>
>>28854163
You misunderstand. We can't get increased muscle mass because the water guns are in the way.

going elite muscle training will only make her arms bigger, and the optimum arm size/muscle mass is a tricky balance to maintain.
>>
>>28854153
>without increased muscle mass
how do you think the high pressure water sacs achieve the pressure then? lots of specialized muscles also remoraid have an effective range of 100ft
>>
>>28854175
The point is moot because of what
>>28854128
said here.

I just couldn't resist mentioning how /fit/ little Cerulean is going to be in the future.
>>
>>28854184
>/fit/ little Cerulean
unless she gets taller no matter how /fit/ she gets she'll still look fat
>>
>>28854198
B-but muh b-builtfat! It's the b-body of m-men who fight b-bears on the m-mountain!
>>
>>28854179
will specialized muscles designed to squeeze a bladder be able to do the expanding/contracting motions of an arm swing? they're specialized for a reason:they aren't punching/clawing muscles.

but like what>>28854128
and>>28854184
stated, my concerns are probably too nitpicky. It's doubtful whether Prof will go that far with the realism.
>>
>>28854208
it is the body of REAL, ELITE men/women! People who get /fit/ not to show off, but rip bears in two with their Crytten claws!
>>
>>28854221
FIT!

>>28854198
Ah, but seriously, if you're that worried about what she'll look like, I'm sure her....meat....will distribute more evenly when she gets older and taller. Thighs especially, since she's a runner...mmm.....strong thighs....
>>
>>28854231
>Big hips
>Thick thighs
>Muscular
>Popeye arms
>>
>>28854211
>will specialized muscles designed to squeeze a bladder be able to do the expanding/contracting motions of an arm swing? they're specialized for a reason:they aren't punching/clawing muscles
they may work for squeezing/gripping, but yeah while they don't directly effect punching or clawing nothing says we can't fire them in CQC(eg point plank shot as we hit them)
>>
>>28854198
>>28854208
I would like to say, Blubber isn't just like regular obese-human-fat. It tends to be high in collagen and thus firmer. Dolphins have blubber, and no one calls them fat. And she isn't a little seel-sausage that flops across beaches so the distribution and makeup will be appropriate to evenly insulating a human frame (at least once it evolves).
>>
>>28854242
considering the potential recoil of trying that, it's a good thing Ceru is ELITE FIT. It would be the biological equivalent of a piledriver
>>
>>28854241
Mmmmf.

But not Popeye arms like Popeye. Less extreme than that, since our upper arms aren't sticks.
>>
>>28854245
fair enough, but right now all it does( besides give us ice and fire resist) is make Ceru look fat
>>
>>28854245
>and thus firmer
Oh gosh. Stop anon. You're doing things to me right now.

>>28854257
Mm. 'Cause we're kids. Cute, chubby little kids.
>>
>>28854264
they don't look so cute when they're murdering poisonous monsters. or doing 300 pushups
>>
>>28854273
Fat cat tats to Kitty's itty bitty kitties.
>>
>>28854281
Kitty has multiple sets of nipples in my headcanon
>>
>>28854317
That would mean she was flashing everyone back at our pool party.

No wonder Bruise spent the entire party in the pool.
