Last thread we
-Explored our city area more thoroughly
-Fought off our first attack, and acquired some troops and reputation in the process
-Formed an elite special operations group
-Made contact and started trading with the Bloodskull Bandits, despite our actual attempts at diplomacy with them nearly resulting in our annihilation
-Discovered the locations of several Survivor Factions to the east
-Decoded the entire Deadeyez genome

It was also the only thread to reach the bump limit thus far, and it only took 3-4 days to do so.

The eyes mutagen are finished, and high command reccomended we recruit more mutants (and fluffwise, we'd have conflicts with recruited humans unless those humans are special like the bandits).

Also, Dr Mendel recommends we purify the Toxin glands and Fleshmelter Tentacles which will contribute to DNA assimilation efforts

also i feel like we should start making some defenses underground. Because reasons

Well The Handpicked headed up into the essentials district with some of our usual scavenger crew and figured they'd look around where Schultz hand found our hovertanks before. A certain Bertram among the salvage crew paired up his skills with The Handpicked and they found an entire unlooted supply depot that was apparently intended for the various paramilitary training complexes and they took everything from it. Shit had everything from rocket launchers to power armor, and even a few VR pods for training to top it off it was all already loaded in cargo trucks. Seriously hit the goddamn jackpot here.

Meanwhile back in the lab Dr. Mendel turned his hand towards the Toxin Glands on the Deadeyez...and their secrets unraveled before him. He found that they're actually a separate, symbiotic organism to the Deadeyez, and that the Deadeyez could feed them different compounds to make them produce toxins suited against different targets. He figured all this out...then he improved on it.

Acquired:
Bio-Augment: Toxin Glands (mutative)

Rolled 26

Doktor Mendel was very, very bored of sitting down in ze lab dissecting festering zombie corpses, and particularly Deadeyez corpses. No living subjects for months now, that one Deadeye discounted. Vas it too much for a Doktor to ask to have a little fun with his work? ...Vell it didn't look like any would be coming his way any time soon, sooo...It wasn't sanctioned, but when you saddle a Warped Scientist with this sort of grunt work things happened on occasion.

"Tim, oh Tim. Vould you come over here for a moment?" the towering monstrosity of rippling muscles barely contained within its skin walked over to the doctor as beckoned.

"How vould you like to take part in un leetle tiny experiment, Tim? You remember the last experiment you vere in, the one that made you vhat you are now?" the Abomination nodded at the doctor.

He was smart by Timmy standards. One of the smartest of them all, or so herr Doktor always told him. Tim was pretty sure that he was the Doktor's favorite among the whole batch, because that's what the Doktor said all the time and the Doktor was a good man. He had made Tim big and strong and tough and able to rip through the State's enemies like a bullet going through tissue paper, and that is all that Tim had ever wanted...or at least he thought that was all he had ever wanted.

For a moment, a spark of memory that would've consumed the Doktor and most of his fellow Abominations only lit in Tim's eyes...but then the moment passed, and he was the Doktor's favorite Timmy again, and the Doktor had chosen him to do this thing that he said would make him extra extra big and strong!

"Zerrr weeee gooo. Very gut." Doktor Mendel said as he struggled to tighten the last strap over the Timmy's immense chest.
>>
Rolled 5

>>28840708

"I do so appreciate vhat you are doing for me, Tim. Truly you shall be remembered forever as a Hero of ze State." the Doktor filled the syringe full of a special dose of the purified Eyez serum he had kept around…and mixed with a bit of the DNA from the Toxin-Gland creatures he’d recently figured out. He had managed to scrape just enough parts together from that living Deadeye to make this one dose, and had been dying to use it. He knew it vas likely to kill poor Tim, his body barely able to handle the enhanced Behemoth serums as-is, but ze end of all things undertaken in the name of Almighty Science alvays justified the means.

"Und...here...we...go." the Doktor said. Tim did not even feel a thing as the high-gauge needle entered his neck. His ability to register pain on such a low threshold had been stripped during the transformation...the transformation. Tim did not like to think about the transformation. He knew that it had hurt the poor, fragile, weak thing that Tim had been...before.

He had begun thinking about the transformation, and now he couldn't stop for some reason. Normally the thoughts stopped before he could remember the change! W-what was happening? Vhat is this? Aa-AAARRGGHHH!!! at some point the thoughts had transitioned themselves from his mind to his mouth. Wotan, the soldier, the volunteer, the Abomination! It was all flooding back now, he couldn't stop it!
>>
Rolled 90

>>28840756

He tried to close his eyes against the pain, the tremendous P A I N and as he did so, felt lids squeeze shut along his muscle-warped arms. He felt more eyes form, open, and shut all over his body like a rash, poisons of an indescribable natures keeping pace through his veins. There was no stopping the sight, there was no stopping the agony, and he he could see everything that was wracking his body from a dozen different angles at once despite desperate attempts not to!

Finally the serum kicked in fully, and all of the eyes that had formed on his body forced themselves open as skin and flesh around them began to turn necrotic. There was no stopping anything now. He could SEE that it was already too late. As the last shred of the personality of the person once known as Wotan was burnt away by a blinding light, his final thoughts took the form of a shout that seemed to echo through the walls of the laboratory, ignoring everything between him and the listeners.

"IIII SSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hmm, alright.

How about the Drs test subject?
Does Mendel have any idea what is down there, it screams we know that. And its tough enough to break a door.

Also keep the bandits on radio standby, we may need to use one of our two yearly turns
>>
Rolled 32

>>28841076

Those yearly turns start up after they build the fuel station and you fill it up the first time. That aside, the bandits are VERY leery of going into a mutant-infested biological research facility.

The Doktor doesn't know what test subject you're talking about, he hasn't done anything outside of your orders aside from play around.

He also has no idea what's down there, but reports that with a facility of this tier it could be anything...but it's guaranteed to be horrifying. He's actually rather surprised that something hadn't come out of the lower labs before now, if something was going to come out.
>>
>>28841129
Well, I'm considering the possibility of letting them take the base and we retreat up side. Above ground we can bring to bear the heavy weaponry and bandit aid (if we can) as flood to get out the base.

Or do you calculate wed have better odds pitting ourselves mano e mano in the tunnels?
>>
Rolled 20

What does the Colonel suggest?

He's good at thinking quickly.
>>
Rolled 95

>>28841235

Unknown, user. However, if you abandon the base and I still do not have control of emergency countermeasures (currently inaccessible base-wide) then what ever is down there will have full access to the AI core and the base defenses, and unless my lack of access is happenstance it will know how to use them.
>>
Rolled 13

>>28841265

The Colonel suggests forming chokepoints the containment doors while trying to plug 1-3 of them so that they cannot enter into separate areas of the lab.
>>
Rolled 90

>>28841306
Then under his suggestion let us do just that, and bring the cadres bounty of weapons to bear.

We should also plan multiple fallback chokepoints, have teams watch the flanks of those making the chokepoints in case of tunnel breaches, and above all keep the line of supply connected and do not allow sections of us to be cutoff.

For the research action, didn't Dr Mendel perform his work while the vert Furorbunker was being bombed by the red army? Can he get to work on the fleshmelter enzymes while being prepared to move his operation at a moments notice?

>>
Rolled 30

>>28841517

Certainly.
>>
>>28841448
Well, what sort of thing can be researched to aid us in this time?

Hmm, maybe giving the toxin gland augments to the new eye mutants, allowing them to toss tears of acid onto the enemy?
>>
>>28841547
>>28841517
>>28841389
I vote these actions at 200 new toxin troops with toughneds at 2 resource
>>
Rolled 88

>>28841694

Biomods are different from Mutagens (much more complicated), it will take 2 resources and the research action to outfit 100 troops with the new Toxin Glands. You also will not be able to apply new mutagens to them for a turn or 3 afterwards, and since the facilities used for administering either overlap you have to choose one or the other to apply.
>>
>>28841737
Will the toxins be liquid or gas and will they affect our troops?
Do we have any gas masks in ready supply?
>>
Rolled 20

>>28841770

Dr. Mendel figured out how to integrate the Gland-Creature's systems into host physiologies to render them immune. We have plenty of gas masks/hazmat gear available, a small toxic miasma could be formed around the user by incorporating toxin and a compound to increase evaportation...otherwise, their flesh will be toxic and they'll have a toxic coating that will burn anything that touches them and they can coat their close combat weapons in poison/toxin for added effect.

They would work much better if you developed some natural weapons for the glands to constantly secrete toxin onto...but will still have a noticeable effect against enemies without them. Also, general substance/toxin resistance will be vastly improved in troops with the mods applied.

Bump.

[Spoiler]hey, thats not on the same specific action tho!
>>
Rolled 30

Col. Schultz and the Handpicked supervised the construction of defensive chokepoints throughout the complex to try and ensure that anything that broke through the containment doors wouldn't get far. The troops were handed the weapons and equipped with the armor that we had just scavenged, and manned the defenses.
We discovered the power armors were training models, offering slightly less defense than standard models but allowing even the untrained to utilize them.

The fortifications went alright, but my inability to deploy the pre-established defensive fortifications meant that only so much could be done. Whatever inside is still breaking through the doors, but steel plates have been welded onto 2 of the most outlying doors to slow their progress and constrain any escape.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mendel went about scrambling to produce enough Gland-Creatures to fulfill our request and managed it. The troops submitted to the integration process and have been successfully modified.
An unexpected interaction with the mutability of the Darwinyan's physiology occurred, and now their entire bodies are resistant to almost any toxin used on them and their blood will poison foes on contact if they have exposed portions of skin.

We will now switch to a different timescale for 'turns' as you supervise the defense of the lower levels.

How would you like to divy up the Toxin troopers?
>>
Rolled 95

>>28843673
The toxic troopers need to be their own squad, and probably our vanguard. Historically bio/chemical weapons are used on an entrenched enemy, so I would suggest that they lead the charge into the hostile zone. Timmy's are to be used like cavalry, everybody else takes up a defensive position just in case
>>
>>28843673
Only their blood is poisonous?
Does it affect non toxin trooper Darwinian?

Will we be able to gasify their blood? If not, how about create large backpacks of normal blood transfusions to be carried on their backs, and a gun system that drains their poisonous blood and lathers AP bullets with it.
>>

>>
>>28843854
I'm not entirely sure if those same rules apply for underground warfare and they aren't entrenching, we are and they're attacking.

, and if we can't fit the tanks in can timmys fit though?
>>
Rolled 29

>>28843878

...you could gasify their blood if you did the research for a machine to do it and wanted to. Alternately you could research the Deadeyez toxic cloud/miasma, or just produce/distill toxins from biological cultures and use aerosolizing grenades. Sucking their blood out constantly would really suck for them.
>>
Rolled 98

>>28843905

Timmys can fit (in small numbers) your tanks are SUPER hover tanks (just like SSTs to STs) so they're about the size of that old prototype megatank the germans were working on in WWII. Schultz's is even bigger than that.
>>
>>28844002
Either of these the doctor can do within the next turn?
>>
Rolled 59

>>28843905
Seeing as we are under ground, our bio weapons should be extra effective, confined spaces being the key factor here. What might be even more prudent though would be to chose to engage them in the most confined choke point we can muster. Thoughts?
>>
>>28844031
Hmm I wonder if Timmys can be armed with cannons or artillery on their arms or backs

Like the brumaks from gears of war
>>
>>28844088
We've already entrenched several chokepoints, many in retreating succession for attrition. The bulk of our force will indeed meet them in the main one, but in the always present likelihood they have to fall back we have several more checkpoints for them.

The biggest issue is ensuring we keep the line of retreat open and do not allow us to be devided and conquered.
>>
Rolled 47

>>28844139
Why should we merely try to hold our ground? We should take theirs, this is our god damned base!

"Jesus Christ, what the fuck is that screaming?"

"Zat, Corporal Elenore, is ze metal on the other side being vaporized by lasers, I suspect." replied Dr. Mendel, keeping a careful eye on the doors.

"I concur." said Col. Schultz. The two heroes stood with The Handpicked at the central-most, and largest, entrance to the Lower Labs. The Toxin Troopers stood in ranks behind them, weapons all trained on the cherry-red doors, waiting.

"Lasers? Where did they get lasers? I thought this was a bio-facility?" the Corporal said, the presence of Col. Schultz kept her fear from her voice, but the barrel of her plasma spewer wavered slightly as she spoke.

"Indeed it is," Col. Schultz said levelly, "but a facility this large has more than one armory...and the ones near the more dangerous experiments would be better equipped. It is of no consequence." looking back behind him, the Col. called "Steel yourselves, explosives detonation in 10 seconds...Comms officer Burkhart, ensure coordination with the other door." Burkhart nodded in recognition and began to transmit the order.

10 seconds later the world exploded.
>>
Rolled 95

>>28844990

"Colonel, doors 3 und 4 report that the breaching attempts there have ceased."

"Very good Burkhart, have them stay at their posts though. It could be a ruse, and there's no more room in these tunnels anyway."

Attempting to peer through the smoke of the blast, one soldier started speaking:
"Vhat are the-" almost instantly a red line drew itself through the clearing smoke and the soldier's head exploded as the crack of a large-caliber weapon was heard.

"Target eliminated." said a voice from the void that the containment door had formerly occupied, "Registering target-rich environment. Begin assault."

And such was the battle of the Lower Labs joined.

Few minutes more, turns out my Uni is closed today.
>>
>>28845141
Well that's not good.

Soldiers. So this is what its like to be on the other end of a tunnel atack. (The organized kind)
>>
Rolled 52

Let's get this rape-fest into high gear now then.

Defenses are barely holding at the central 2 doors.

The main entrance where the Toxin Troopers, Col. Schultz and Dr. Mendel are at report that they are holding acceptably well though if the assault intensifies much further then they may not be able to.

Door 2 reports that they are barely holding back the enemy, they will have to retreat to secondary posts if they aren't reinforced ASAP.

The enemy's weaponry is extremely effective against our forces, less so against our mutated variants though.

Doors 3 and 4 remain silent. Their troop compliments are beginning to get antsy, but are otherwise completely intact.

Would you like to redistribute forces?

Door 1: 300 Troops (100 Toxin Troops, 50 Eyez+Toughness, 50 Biofuel); Col. Schultz, Dr Mendel
Door 2: 200 troops (100 Eyez+Toughness, 50 Biofuel Variant)
Door 3: 150 troops (50 Eyez+Toughness)
Door 4: 150 troops (50 Eyez+Toughness)
299 Timmys are being held back as a mobile reserve. They aren't suited for ranged tunnel combat.

Would you like to redistribute troops?
>>

I've read Infantry Attacks. In all likelihood, doors 3 and 4 will be where the enemy hits hardest.

unless the enemy is a magnificent bastard and read that book.
>>
>>28846014
Huh, howd that first sentence get mangled so. Damned phone.

What's up with your dice bro? Anyway, if you do this the biofuel guys will withdraw from Door 2 flawlessly...however, that IS the door that says they'll have to fall back soon if they're not reinforced.
>>
Rolled 25

>>28846137
Yes, that door can fall back, and we hit them with Timmy's.
>>
>>28846159
A direct charge? Now? Charges are better used when the enemy is weakened and supported by infantry.

But fuck me, a full charge of how manym timmys? At least by closing in theyre nor so vulnerable to long range attacks
>>
Rolled 93

>>28846159

Order all troops at Door 2 to retreat to secondary positions?
At what point would you like the Timmys to strike and at which door?
Redistribute troops from any other doors to any other doors/positions?
>>
>>28846276
I think he means doors 2 to split even to reinforce 3 and 4, and for the timmys to strike full force into door 2 and press the attack up close and personal.
>>
Rolled 60

>>28846212
Seems like a good place to counter strike, I figure they have plans of some sort, these frontal attacks are probably a diversion. I would rather catch them with their pants down on their side of the line than wait for them to execute their plan.
We need to cause some chaos behind their lines. 100 Timmy's should do the trick
>>
Rolled 21

By the way

Primary Defensive Lines- at each door
Secondary Defensive Lines- At chokepoints in a ring around each door
Tertiary Defensive Line- In a ring at chokepoints that encompass all of the doors.
>>
>>28846352
This is quite brilliant actually.
Attacking after feigning a retreat.
Moving in close which is what timmys are good for,

Can we have 50 timmys wait behind them to either press the advantage or if things go to shit, hold until troops can reinforce door 2?
>>
Rolled 75

>>28846352

Consensus is this?
>>
Rolled 35

>>28846352
If this is indeed their whole fighting force than they made a BIG mistake. They split their forces. If we can take out army B(attacking door 2) our forces can wheel around and take out army A(main door) splitting your forces is never a good idea (nor is attacking a heavily entrenched foe. Their losses will be incredible.
>>
Rolled 87

Yeah, that worked well with the Deadsnows...or it should've anyway...
>>
>>28846555
Yes, all my yes.
>>
>>28846568
It's never their whole fighting force and it is never that easy. I doubt the lower levels are even connected like that.

I must say however that if indeed the army at door 2 is their strongest then pitting our strongest against them is good and well know that's where they are. Likewise if door 2 is a weak diversionary force, then the Timmys mop the floor with them while doors 3 and 4 ( likely places where they'll attack) is reinforced.

I will cast my support for it, and pray.

Rolled 50

Our forces around Door 2 withdrew flawlessly, one moment they were there and then the next they weren't. Not a single soldier was lost in the retreat and the final salvo fired was so intense that the relentless enemy fire stalled for a moment.

It was at this very moment that our 100 of our Timmys with Dr Mendel and Timotheus charged into the doorways. Our retreating troops heard ripping metal, electronic voices screaming, and the bellowing of the Timmys all the way back to their secondary positions. Then everything went quiet.

Door 1 reports that enemy fire has ceased. Doors 3 and 4 report no signs of the enemy.

No contact from the group of Timmys (unsurprising, they don't know how to operate communicators and Dr. Mendel shuts off base defenses where ever he goes.)

How would you like to proceed?

>>
So the way I see it, door 2 is completely wide open with no defense.

We go in, and we might be the grain of rice that tips the scale and keeps timotheus and our leader alive.
Which could go bad if theyre headed our way and we lose the element of defense.

Or we stay, hold the line, and pray the timmys keep door 2 clear and Dr Mendel and timmotheus can do the job or at least survive.
>>
>>28847606

>>
>>28847717

>>
>>28847674
It could actually go much worse if the enemy decided to entrench themselves in tunnel 1.

Dammit I wanted some timmies left to act as skirmishes and confirm that.
>>
>>28847792
That would be the least optimal option oftem all. Wed weaken all the other doors, and for all we know door 2 was indeed the diversion.
Doors 3 and 4 don't move an inch,
I'm trying to gauge whether we should full press door 1 or simply wait.
>>
>>28847819
I guess we have to use bio fuel guys.

>>28847950

Huehue.
>>
>>28847950
I meant tunnels 1&2
>>
>>28847860
Alright, I'm going to deduce that, if door 2 was their weakest group they don't want giant abominations to rip their rears.
As such, they would have to divert some of their forces. This would be from a place they do not plan to use to attack.

Doors 3 and 4 are the attack points I can feel it.

As such, they'd have to withdraw troops from 1, else the timmys unleash all hell behind them.

In light of this, I propose a full frontal assault on the main door by Schultz.
>>
Time to press the attack on door 1, and have door 2 forces hold the line Keep 3 and 4 at the ready, we don't know what's behind those doors, waiting for us to retreat.

>>28848175
Nobody heh.

Still, I think if we are pressing from two points, an attack is the least on their minds. An army of timmys just stampede down there, and even if they do somehow send someone up they will lose more territory than we gain if they don't try stopping us. I think.

We cannot allow 3 and 4 to weaken whatsoever, and 1 needs all hands.

Still, if anything must be done I'd be willing to part some forces from 1 to guard 2.
>>
>>28848199
That's an invitation for their (more than likely) main body to attack.
>>
>>28848220
I think about 25% of force 1 should be diverted as a token guard to 2.

If they are capable of magically brining a huge force around a giant stampeding horde of monsters in narrow tunnels, then we have already lost.

Rolled 3

Blueprints of the lab indicate that all the tunnels lead to the same Lower Lab level, however the Lower Labs have 4 total levels only accessible from the ones above and below.

This is only the first.

The entire level appears to be heavily battle damaged with robotic parts and scorch marks everywhere. As such not even the Handpicked can pick up their trail. They did find a Timmy corpse or two in the immediate vicinity door 2 though. And several demolished robots that were obviously due to them.
>>

Rolled 52

Sadly, this A.I. does not possess the repair schematics due to humans thinking that all A.I.s are the same sort or people who want to unleash perfectly minmaxed robotic death onto inferior biological beings. Those would've been stored in the automated maintenance setting they're assigned to.
Engineers, being valued noncombatants, have been put in the rearmost ranks so they would be more likely to survive. None of them have gotten the chance to look at the robots yet, however based upon the Handpicked's description they are likely too advanced for us to perform even basic repairs on.

>>28848902
The robots destroyed by the Timmys have been nearly completely reduced to component parts so it is difficult to tell, but judging by all the other robots on the level being the same it is likely they are also.

They were not under my control, so to say that we have been fighting 'our own' automated forces would be inaccurate. They do appear to be security robots assigned to this base though.

It was mentioned that the laboratory level we have discovered all connects to the same tunnels.

>>28854550
For that matter, I'd like to ask if it is possible that the handpicked continue to scout ahead with Schultz as skirmishers to find either traces of the doctor or the enemy, have Kalern lead a separate group to stay behind and investigate items of interests Schultz discovers, while our main body fortifies our new lab and the line of supply.

I am also very concerned that now our upper level is now completely defenseless to a surface attack.

Door 3s paltry 150 men have been sent back to the upper levels of the lab to defend in case of attack from the surface.

Door 2s forces have reassumed their original defensive positions.

Door 4's forces has been sent into Level 4 (top level, one we are currently exploring) of the labs to fortify such as they can. Due to not having anyone to ferry them resources for such an endeavor and the level not being fully explored the best they could do really was move the deactivated robots to blocks some hallways.

Col Schultz and the Handpicked have moved further in to the lab. They report that the corridors to Doors 3&4 are completely empty of robots. Otherwise they estimate that throughout the level there are roughly 200 intact but deactivated robots, but parts scattered around for many many more. Intense battle damage is seen through all of the corridors and on all of the robots.
Further in they discover what I deduce from their descriptions are biological construction nanite beds, however they appear to be completely nonfunctional and extremely low on nanites.

The Handpicked have reached the access tunnels to the next level. They appear to all be welded shut except one, which has been wrenched open by huge strength and has Timmy blood dripping from the edges.

Notice:
Col. Schultz has picked up a garbled message on Dr. Mendel's transmitter frequency.
"*static*SHhhcccctttttttccc.....FUUUUUUCC..*SCREEEEEECHHHHHHH*...HHHEEEEL....*transmission ends*"

>>
>>28861220
How many of these doors to the next level are there?

Is there anything left in the current lab level yet to be explored?

What's the chances, however likely, that these deactivated robots could turn on and go crazy any moment?

Also this is only the first lab level and we are already stretching our line. If this continues, what does the colonel reccomend? Can technicals ride through the tunnels to deliver supplies?

the Dr isn't going crusader on us is he?
>>
Rolled 31

>>28861722

The Handpicked reports that they don't think there's anything else of immediate import to be found on this level, though a more thorough exploration later might be due.

Lt Kalern reports that because the method of the robots deactivation is unknown he can't assess the likelihood of them reactivating.
If the user will recall, Dr. Mendel has tendency to deactivate laboratory security systems where ever he goes. It has caused me no small amount of frustration.

The issue of supplies is lack of manpower. (And also the vastly reduced timescale of these turns...basically it'd take 1 or 2 turns for you to fetch supplies, then 2 or 3 to build extremely basic and flimsy fortifications on this timescale).
Technicals are capable of riding through the tunnels to deliver supplies and can even enter Level 4, but the (current) entrance to the lower levels will not allow them through.

The Col. wonders why all the doors to the lower levels have been welded shut. He also recommends doing something with the robots to ensure they won't be a problem.
>>
>>28862083
In light of this, I reccomend creating a line of supply from the first lab to our upper base via a conveyor system of technicals and small vehicles.

The currently deactivated robots should be immediately transfered to the actual surface in a designated killbox in front of the SHTs and formerly door 3s forces on the surface. Currently "door 2"s forces should be tasked to aid this effort.

Once done, door 2s forces should continue the fortification of the 1st lab level using the technical conveyor for supplies, which should be done in earnest now that the cadre have explored the place more.

Door 1 and door 4 are to press on into the hole following the Timmys trail.
>>
Rolled 51

>>28862274
In short
>door 2 and technicals bring robots to surface ground to be targeted by SHTs
>if can, door 2 and technicals bring supplies down to lab 1. Fortifications to begin next microturn
>door 4 and door 1 press on
>>
Rolled 36

>>28862307
I absolutely agree
>>
Rolled 27

>>28862307
>>28862274

This A.I. cannot recommend devoting that proportion manpower to fotifications whilst Doktor Mendel is engaged against unknown forces.
>>
>>28862429
You recommend MORE men?
Grr, fine. Well send in door 2.

Damned, how much can we stretch door 3? Can they drive the technicals, bring the robots up, and then get in the tanks?
>>
>>28862538
The doctors survival is important. I hate being thrust so deep into enemy terry without even so much as securing our lines, but well have to.
Send in doors 1,2, and 4. Door 3 brings up the robots via technicals and targets them with constantly manned SHTs
>>
Rolled 58

>>28862734

As a mitigating factor, our lines aren't terribly insecure. We can leave a contingent of 50 biofuel troops at the 1 open entrance to the lower levels and apparently everything else was sealed up by the security robots.

Of course now the question is: what scared security robots so much that they sealed up the lower levels.

The another part of the question is, why did they try to attack us if they wanted to escape? (I really hope it wasn't the smoke blocking their vision).

The battlefield is secure. Send the handpicked to figure out exactly what Mendel is doing. In the mean time bring all troops currently defending the doors to the new front line, and set up new fortifications around where the Timmy's broke through to the new lower levels.
>>
>>28863026
Then either they had a recognition error due to some out of place buttons on our troops uniforms, or someone or something is causing the Reich's robots to attack our own mutants.

"Let's find out, shall we?" responded one of The Handpicked as he stepped up and wiped the frost from the glass.
"F-fuck, vhat is zis place?"

Discovered: Darwinyan growth capsules.
>>
Rolled 43

>>28864279
Shit yes! That's the biz.
Handpicked need to keep on going and find the Timmy's and the rest of our troops need to secure these shits!
>>
>>28864483
This, and we also ought to check for any more robots or inactive defenses.
>>
Rolled 14

Our troopers spread out further in search of traces of Dr. Mendel and the Timmys. They discovered a path torn through the tubes where the ceiling and floor had also been ripped up by brute force as well. Timmy blood was spread profusely over the area, though no corpses were found.

Otherwise, the floor of the area is remarkably clean (excepting dripping nutrient gel from the growth capsules).

The Handpicked, their attention drawn to the capsules by the realization that kin of theirs are inside them, have noticed that the broken tubes appear to have been broken from the inside. The thickness of the glass means that this feat is beyond even the prodigious strength of a Darwinyan.
>>
>>28864944
The AI has lead me to believe the doctor shut down the defenses. Though that may not be a good assumption to make.
>>
Rolled 73

>>28864944

If these are cloning or growth facilities then it is unlikely that there are any defensive installations on these floors, they would've relied upon defense robots in the event that defense or a purge were required.

Scouts confirm that no defensive turrets have been found, but there are several empty alcoves that it looks like robots were stored in. The insides of these alcoves appear to have been completely stripped clean of parts.

>>28864483

How do you propose to secure them? The entire level appears to be composed exclusively of racks of them, but the unbroken ones are few and far between.

Does the stuff not appear in unbroken tubes?
>>
Rolled 54

>>28865194

There are. The corridors beyond them are dark. The darkness seems to be deeper than it should be, as if the space beyond is sucking light in rather than simply devoid of it. All of the doors appear to be jammed open.

As your troops move through the trail of wreckage left by the Timmys, they seem to hear faint whispers of movement coming from a direction they cannot identify. Whenever they move to investigate, the sounds simply follow beside them. There is nothing moving among the racks aside from the occasional play of light from fluctuating readings on the display pads of intact tubes.

By the way, if there is consensus on the speech you may want to give it now.
>>
Rolled 32

>>28865263

The stuff does not appear in unbroken tubes. He noticed that there were dark threads of some substance running through the pools of gel, and then tested it (by tasting it). The reaction of his biomod confirmed that whatever the substance is, it would likely be extremely toxic to a normal Darwinyan's physiology.
>>

A.I. it seems we have reached a stage where we are at risk to be surrounded or outflanked if we do not attempt to secure our previous gains.

That said, do you or Schultz think it would be better if we just continued to press on in full force and hopefully link up with the Dr.?

Can we come up with standard terms for the levels of the base we are operating on? It's all getting a bit confusing to me
>>
>>28865855
The handpicked are trained exactly for this, trained in tracking and special ops. We need to regain communication with the doctor. The rest of our force needs to secure this new level with the growth chambers.
>>
>>28865912
I think order by descending labs should be fitting.
We have just taken levels 4 and 3, and the next level we are headed down would be two.
>>
>>28865973
I wanted a group to secure the previous level, which would be much easier and safer to do than this one, having only 1 door and supplies ready, but apparently

Lower Labs-
Level 4: Explored, Robotic Wrecks+Parts everywhere (currently have been put on the surface and surrounded by SHTs)
Level 3: Explored, Stasis/Growth tubes (mostly broken) with the intact ones having Darwinyans in them.
Level 2: Unexplored, entrances from Lvl 3 to it have been discovered
Level 1: Unexplored
>>
Rolled 8

>>28866022

You would need men to ferry supplies from the depots to the Lower Labs, and you'd need men to build the fortifications (but you do not have time for very good fortifications, so you'd have sandbag emplacements with machine guns on them at best), and the tunnels do not lend themselves to being fortified very well...so in this A.I.'s opinion the 200+ men you would have to devote to this action to get it done in a reasonable amount of time is not worth having 200 extra combatants in your force.

If you wanted to fortify this level, you could attempt to move Growth Tube Racks to block the doors, but those are improvised defenses and so even worse than sandbag emplacements. There are also 4 doors on this level.

And in the time that you are performing those fortifications, herr Doktor and his Timmys are fighting against whatever has caused the robots that were capable of taking down Timmys to retreat.
>>
>>28866041
Bring our troops down to level 3 and scour the place with a fine tooth comb for hidden entrances or hostile activity. Send the handpicked down another level(very fucking carefully)in a continued search of the Timmy's and dr. Mendel.
>>
>>28866194
Then in light of this, we must carry on. Infantry must support the cavalry charge, this is standard blitz tactics (which again the Dr has taken upon himself personally to lead, for whatever reason).

Building upon this discovery, they looked closer into the ventilation shafts. They discovered that, in addition to the doors being welded shut on Level 4, the ventilation shafts had all been blocked also. There appears to be some sort of organic slime coating the inside of the shafts, and strange organic looking growths that serve no readily apparent purpose.

As your troops proceed, they come across a single robot chassis laying on the ground. It appears to be a much more advanced/substantial model than the ones that were on Level 4, perhaps a chief? The area around it lacks growths.
The robot itself appears to have been torn apart by...claws of some sort. The thick synthetic diamond armor has been punctured and torn in places, and it has obviously been laying here for quite some time.

The clearing is very much a death trap, but we have little choice. I can only hope it's not the kind of trap where the floor opens up and swallows you.

Toxin Troopers to lead forward, any tentacle tries to gnab em gets a taste o' toxin. Biofuel and flammenwerfer mutants move in to purge the vents, racks, any hole with fire.

We can't stay there for long though

Splittin up is a big no no. So, Schultz trust your gut on this pick a hole you think the Doctor would go through and plunge everyone into it.

The rocket struck the membrane blocking the way from whence we had come, and its blast tore the film open. The shriek that came afterwards bypassed all auditory dampeners on the troops' armor, directly imposing itself in their minds. Its very tone and cadence were specifically engineered to trigger primal fear in the minds of those who heard it.

A heartbeat later the tunnels all came alive. Things that even the Cadre and Col. Schultz had just taken to be the walls animated themselves in a flash of slime-slicked alien movement and threw themselves upon the force of invaders that had dared tread so far into their domain, jaws dripping with poison in anticipation of a feast.

Formed up in the middle of the relative safety of the chamber around the robot, the Darwinyans met the assault with fire and lead.

That pic is related, it's basically what you're fighting. Told you I loved Xenomorphs and to watch out, surprised you didn't pick up on it.

Toxin Troopers advanced, leveling their flamers at the flood of alien flesh sprinting flat-out towards them and beating them back into the tunnel openings, driving poisoned blades into bony exoskeleton when an enemy managed to get through the lines. The monsters popped and fizzled from the heat, and their acidic blood spewed from any knife wounds inflicted, but the troopers' biomorphs quickly altered their skin compounds to neutralize the affect.

Meanwhile, the grates of the ventilation pipes in the cleared area erupted with more of the monsters, and were promptly lit aflame by the massive pools of biofuel that our troopers had let loose around them. The fires burned so hot in some places that portions of the floor melted and sloughed inwards on the vent-corridors, coating the things inside in molten metal.

Amidst it all, Col. Schultz and his Handpicked stood, observing the battle and sending Toxin troopers and themselves to aid where ever they were needed.

>>
>>28870151
Well shit, if it's being overrun even with him.

The way I see it is we have two options
Follow the doctor
Pros:
- We may have 300 timmies ready to sally forth and take back the surface
- We'd get the Doctor alive, safe and sound. He's our most important member with the answers we need
Cons:
- The base defenses might turn on us
- Or explode
- Without Kalern can any of us even rehack the A.I. core?

Retreat to save the core
Pros:
- We'd save the core
- We'd get out of this hellhole, and could come back to try again
Cons:
- The fleshies would adapt to our tactics
- The Doctor would be dead, or missing
>>
Rolled 83

>>28870195

Your radios would normally be able to communicate within significant portions of the base, however the biological infestation down here has rendered them nigh-useless.

You could try dispensing runners back through the tunnels and levels...however, the likelihood of success of such an action is...dubious.

Group 3's status cannot be ascertained.
>>
Rolled 71

>>28870278

If I may, from the A.I.'s last transmission I would conclude that he is under cyber attack, rather than physical attack. It is odd though, as Laboratory A.I.s are usually separate from any external networks...the hacker would have to be inside the base somewhere, and quite potent too in order to hack an A.I.
>>
>>28870342
But that's just a difference of semantics. The hacker has reached the A.I.'s interface, and Kalerns group was either overpowered or bypassed.

The way I see it, retreating to the surface is a gamble on whether or not by the time we get there the system is fully hacked, and if Kalern is or isn't alive to unhack it (god knows none of us can).

However, if we DO find the Doctor then even if the A.I. is completely hacked, and Kalern is dead, we'd have a snowballs chance to undo the damage.
>>
>>28870419
Basically we go up there, and Kalern is dead and the system is fully hacked and the Doctor is dead, we're fucked.

Suddenly you realize these noises are coming from behind you, and the rearguard braces themselves as something similar to the shriek they 'heard' earlier at the onset of the battle echoes through their heads...but this time it is less of a screech and more a mewl of distress. The distant sound of rending flesh reaches your ears, as well as the screams of what must be dozens of the monsters dying simultaneously.

Through the corridor you just came through you see the curtain of flesh turn black, and dissolve. In the new gap, you see the silhouette of a massive, humanoid figure. As tall as a Timmy, but far more gaunt.

Very good then.

>>28872005

God dammit, how do I even write this...give me a minute to brainstorm...
>>
Rolled 90

>>28872005

Impossible shapes play with one another like a haze in an area around the figure as it approaches your blob of troops. The ground around its footsteps curdles and turns into pools of black sludge. As light from the fluorescent lamp begins to play upon it, you make out that its surface is composed of thousands upon thousands of eyes, constantly merging together and splitting apart. Its skin is a dark, sickly green that weeps streams of black fluid which seem to dissolve themselves in the unnatural haze around it before hitting the ground.

The figure comes to a stop in front of your blob of troops, and though it doesn't move you can tell that its attention has shifted onto you.

What do you do?

This has gone on way longer than I expected and I'm sorry it's dragging...but it'll be over soon, I swear. Just stick with it.

burn, Burn, BURN!!!! Only if it engages in any hostile manner towards us
>>
>>28872406
Colonel Schultz, our leading officer, stands up to the creature.

He balls his right hand into a fist, and strikes his chest. He then extends his arm, held out forward straight, with palm down, and fingers touching.

"Heil"

Let's see whos allegiance this thing is.

Colonel Schultz makes his way to stand in front of the creature. It watches him, the eyes on its chest focusing upon him while its others continue to stare out at unknowable realms.

He balls his right hand into a fist, and strikes his chest. He then extends his arm, held out forward straight, with palm down, and fingers touching.

"Heil"

The creature's eyes all snap onto Col. Schultz. Its 'hand' balls up, and it duplicates the gesture.

"HHHhhhh-eeillll."
The sound of its announcement is heard in several layers, taking a full second before it stops resonating in the air.
"Iii have come to finddd herrrr Doktor." it follows up, gesturing at a bulging section of wall halfway down the visible length of the corridor "hheee iss in ze wall overr there vith ze survivors."

Then let us go meet the Doctor at last.

Did you see Lt. Kalerns group on the way here, soldier Wotan?
>>
Rolled 9

>>28872688

The thing proceeds to march down to the section of wall, before placing a clawed finger upon it...then a hand...then its arm begins to phase through.

Along about half of the tunnel, the wall melts away and you see Dr. Mendel standing with his brow furrowed looking at the Eye-Creature, flanked by about 100 Timmys.

"Zank you, Tim." the Doktor's attention then shifts to the 400 or so Darwinyans standing further down the corridor. "Aaah! Oberst! It took you long enough. This situation is dire."

Lets start with something simple.

The sudden charge, and the dubious need for us to follow. Why did you press on ahead of us?
>>
Rolled 94

>>28872909

"An excellent question. You see, this facility vas not alvays under State control. In fact, until you took control of it I vas the only State representative to know of it. However, that is not important to ze issue at hand." the Doktor's brow furrows, "I came down here vith ze Timmys because vithout me they vould have all died. I had hoped to eliminate zis infestation vithout ze need for additional reinforcement...however, zere was an unexpected obstacle."

"Someone has modified zem."

A faint sound begins to scratch at the edge of your soldiers' perceptions.
>>
>>28873061
These 'specimens', I believe we encountered them earlier. Long heads, acid blood, some had mouths inside of their mouths.

What in the Furors name are these creatures?
>>
Rolled 14

>>28873061

"Ze heart of ze infestation is down here, und it has managed to take control over a secondary A.I. Core through...means I do not fully understand. Vee need to kill it und purge or destroy ze core.

However, it has already killed 200 of my darling Timmys. So I vill defer to your military expertise to plan zis attack."

>>28873120

"I do not know, I never saw ze final level of the facility. However, zey look similar to some other specimens I have seen samples of in other pre-Fall facilities."

Wodanaz looks towards the darker end of the tunnel, the one you didn't come from and begins to walk towards it.

What do you do?
>>
Rolled 85

>>28873170
>purge
Now that's a plan I can get behind, how much biofuel do we have left?
>>
>>28873170
>However, it has already killed 200 of my darling Timmys. So I vill defer to your military expertise to plan zis attack.
"As you know, our initial strategy was to secure the labs level by level, until the we closed our fist around the heart. Instead the Timmys unexpectedly decide to charge, and we were all forced to follow.

But seeing the regenerative perhaps that is not so bad, as we are closer to the "heart" or core of this thing. What else do you know of it or of the beings we face?"

>>28873199
Wonder if we are hearing things, see if the noise gets louder.

"Herr Doktor, have you noticed anything else odd about this place? As if there were sounds coming from where there shouldn't be?"
>>
>>28873233
Not enough for a total purge, if they can regenerate like mad.

"Oh, zat is vhat it does vhen it is about to attack. I suggest vee make for ze A.I. Core now. Wodanaz seems to know where to go."
>>
>>28873337
Then lets follow.
Use the same tactics that work, Toxin Troopers in the frontmost and rearmost, with Flame troops and biofuel mutants ready to purge. Keep some in the middle of our lines, and watch the ceilings and walls.

"Hey Wotanaz! If you see anything come our way, give us a hollar!"
>>
Rolled 27

>>28873337
We are in a great position to make a final strike, but I'm going to kick myself if we end the game here for over extending ourselves. But if the consensus thinks we should do it, we might not get a chance like this again.

Rolled 84

Wow, I've written myself into a corner and don't know how to handle it properly...
>>
>>28873444
I don't know. Even supposing we can fight our way back up there, or that Kalern and the Doctor can retake the A.I., we'll constantly have to fight the core AND the creature will grow stronger from us.

Except for the robots. Or whatever defenses A.I. strelok had up there.

I'm just saying, we have to follow and support Wotenaz. We've got hostiles probably regrowing on the trail we blazed through already.
He sees the heart, and this is the closest we'll ever get.

Hmm...there's an idea.

>>28873513

You follow Wodanaz down the tunnel for a short time before you reach a massive room with a pillar of pulsating, grey flesh in it that is studded with various...bionics. Standing in front of the figure is a massive Xenomorph with 2 sets of arms and a heavily armored hide. The center of its head crest bears a large plate of carbon nanofiber.

To either side of it are one of pic related, drooling and clawing at the ground.

The central Xeno and Wodanaz are engaged in a staring contest.

"Zey arrre mmoving bbelowww uss. Bbe preparedd." Wodanaz warns us. Then it glances back at Col. Schultz and Dr. Mendel "It vould llike tto talkk, thoughh."

Your troops shoulder their canisters of spare flamer ammo.

Do you take the parlay, or initiate the attack before the troops are in place?
>>
>>28873690
>Do you take the parlay
But of course.
"Who does it refer itself as, and what would it like to discuss?"

That doesn't mean we shouldn't be prepared.
>>
>>28873690
To take parley and missing the attack, is better than attacking and missing parley.

Let's settle this like officers instead of soldiers, and talk.

The Xeno hisses in pain at these comments and shakes its head from side to side while stumbling. A spark flicks across the plate in its crest.

Wodanaz tilts his head at this.
"Ze Queen is not entirely herself. Und her forces are nearly here. Zey will be significant."

What do you say/do?
>>
>>28874114
"Tell the Queen as much as we would love to prove ourselves with yet more of her current hosts, how much of a monarch is she if she has no control over her own subjects during the sanctity of parley?"

>>
>>28874334
>>28874426
My point is this.

Regardless of who struck who first, we have indeed fought your troops in these lower levels.

We have fought them, and overcome them, and we are here in your doorstep.

And rather than continuing to press on, we are hear offering you a BUSINESS proposition. One which would be of benefit to both of us, with the alternative of either of us wasting resources on a needless struggle that we can both avoid.

"T-the rrobotss were.." a large spark went across the plate in her crest again and the queen shrieked in pain. Her guards assumed more guarded stances, and you notice for the first time that they have subtle augmentations on their backs and skulls also.

"Excuse me for a moment, zere is someone I think vee could use. Und be ready, if we don't end this now, zey will be forced to attack" said Wodanaz, before taking a step forward into the cloud around him...
