For a moment you see a twinge of regret in Anna's eyes. She begins to pull away in fear, but you won't have it. You place your arms around her waist and pull her back in for a second kiss. You close your eyes and focus on the sensation of her lips, and her warmth meeting yours. Her arms tighten around your neck, and you allow the world to fade away, just like it had on the dance floor. You smile at them, but look back to Anna. Her face is a deep red, but she doesn't break eye contact. You close your eyes and touch your forehead to hers, still struggling to find words floating in the air like flower pedals in the wind, so clear in your vision but impossible to grab. Soon an entire section of the room has devoted themselves to watching the two of you embrace and lose yourselves in one-another's eyes. They whisper to each other, the men call you lucky and the women call you romantic. Out of the corner of your vision you see other couples begin to follow your example and embrace, reminiscing about their youth and the passionate flames that once burned their very souls. When the two of you have finally drunk your fill of each others breath and body heat, you pull away and Anna lets her hands slide from your shoulders down to your palms, where you catch them and hold tight.

You spend the remainder of the party dancing and eating with the others, enjoying yourselves but always faintly attached to Anna. No matter where you go, you can feel her presence, like a ribbon tied around your wrist leading back to her. Most of the night there may as well be a ribbon, since she is either holding your hand or wrapping her arms around yours. Near the end, you join Andre, Diane, Scipio and his date outside on a balcony for a drink to cap the night. You all permit Anna to drink wine, which she takes to much better than either Scipio or Andre. As they wrestle each other for fun, Anna simply clings to you in an effort not to lose her balance. Diane comes to you and congratulates you, asking when you plan to hold the ceremony.

With the air cleared, you are able to take a deep breath and regain your composure. You look out over the Palace garden, seeing a few people talking and cooing in all its corners. The grand room is now mostly a place for drunk attendees to jabber in large groups, and the small parties have split off and gone all around the area. You finish off your glass of wine and turn to ask Anna how she's feeling, as you haven't heard her speak in a while. She rubs her face on your sleeve, saying that she is really in the mood to go to bed. You tell her she can go if she likes, but she claims to be unable to walk straight without you to lean on.

You start thinking about what may happen after tonight. Things will certainly be different, and you don't even know how to begin explaining things to people who know you in town. You come to the conclusion that you don't actually care, and that as long as you and Anna are happy, there's nothing to worry about. You come to your door and unlock it while trying to keep Anna from spilling onto the floor. Leman Russ pops out from under the desk as you enter, barking happily. You lead Anna over to the bed, laying her down carefully. She kicks off her shoes and you go over to the wardrobe to remove your robes. Dropping the weight and stuffing feels amazing after having them constrict you all night, and getting out of your boots feels strange. You bare feet on the carpet feel naked and cold. Anna sits up and asks you to help her slip out of her dress.

You blow out the candles on the desk and get in on the other side, slipping under the sheets and turning your gaze up to the ceiling to prevent yourself staring at her. However, just as your mind begins to blank and you fade into sleep, you feel something warm touch your side. An arm crosses your chest, and something soft presses into your under-arm followed by something slightly heavy on top of it. Then, all is quiet.

You leave the mess hall and head back to your room. You notice that your knees and joints don't really ache this morning, at least not as much as they have been. When you arrive back at your door, you try to sneak your way back in, but Leman Russ won't have it. He begins barking and scratching at the door knob immediately as you approach, and you give up all pretense of stealth. When you enter, Anna is sitting up in the bed and stretching her arms above her head. Then she shivers and crawls back beneath the fur blanket. She asks where you went off to and you tell her the truth, about needing something to drink and talking to some friends while you were gone. She tells you that that sounds fun. She then wiggles around beneath the blanket and pops her head out the side of the bed facing you, and pats the mattress invitingly. She looks absolutely ridiculous trying to be seductive, and you can't stop yourself from laughing. You walk over, stepping out of your boots and get beneath the fur with her. You resume your earlier sleeping position and Leman Russ hops back onto the bed, balling up at your feet. You lay there and talk about nothing for quite some time, letting the day slip by. At some point, the both of you fall asleep together again.

In the dark, you hear a knock at the door. You open your eyes to a pitch black room. Night has set in, and you can't tell the hour at all. Anna stirs as well, wrapping her arm around your chest and trying her best to hold you without agitating your wounds. The knock repeats.

You turn to see that the inquisitor that entered has lifted his cowl, to reveal himself as Andre.

You approach Anna, feeling for her in the dark and finding her shoulder, then give her another kiss, longer this time, before handing her Dad's knife and telling her to bolt the door and not to let anyone in without the phrase 'sunflower.' She whimpers and agrees, but asks for one last kiss for luck, which you provide before going back to the door. You shut it behind you, telling the three outside to wait a moment. Sure enough, you hear the bolt slide and feel relieved.

You follow the knocker down the hall, and come to a large painting of the visage of the sun hanging on the wall. He raises his holy symbol, made of gold, and the wall slides back and reveals a hidden hallway. You enter together, eventually reaching a large circular room with several elders inside. At the far end is the bishop, dressed and looking very worried.

The heat pulses through your body, giving you vigor and confidence. It makes you feel as though you are immortal and invincible. When the bishop lifts his hand you rise to your feet and feel the strength of the sun as if it were right above your head. One of the elders approaches you with a longsword held out. It's guard and pommel are gold, and bear marks of the sun. The sheath is white and lined with gold. You take the sword in hand and pull it from the sheath, revealing a shining blade with a marvelous edge. You hold it out before you, and in front of your very eyes it comes alight with white fire.

When she asks what happened, you say nothing, but tell her to sleep well tonight, and you will let her know everything you can in the morning.

The next morning you rise with the sun and pray alongside Anna. She leaves you to train in the garden, not knowing of your healed wounds yet. It is time to choose your companions for this quest. As you reach for the door, you recall what the bishop said.

"There are no more safe havens in this world."

She tries to speak, but you tell her not to waste words. You tell her to bathe, put on only her robes and meet you in the cathedral in half an hour. She nods and the two of you separate as she rushes to put up her training gear and you head toward the bath yourself. There you see Andre, but true to your word you speak nothing of the mission, and focus only on cleaning yourself up for the evening. You scrub hard and apply sunflower scent to be extra certain. Andre asks why so much detail, and you explain that you want tonight with Anna to be special. He smiles wryly and offers to leave a bottle from his own small collection at your door, but you decline, saying that you want nothing to dull your senses. When you finish, you head to the cathedral and see that Anna is already there. She kneels before the visage of the sun in only her robes, her hair still damp from the water. You silently kneel by her, and the two of you join hands as you pray. You pray for luck, mercy, forgiveness, health, strength, courage, hope, guidance, and for Anna. You finish in a little over half an hour and the two of you walk back to your room.

Once there you shut the blinds and put out the candles on your desk. Sight will only distract you. You both sit on the bed and share a kissing embrace. When you pull apart, Anna speaks something into your ear, and you repeat it back. The two of you spend that evening repeating those words back and forth, in the dark beneath the blankets, as you blend together in the darkness.

You awake in the darkness again. There is no sound, but you know what time it is. It's time to leave this bed and this room behind.

When you follow his gaze you see that you have a full moon to ride by. Perhaps the Moonchilde is also looking down on you, while the Father slumbers beneath the horizon. Perhaps all the gods have cast their chips into this game.
