You cock an eyebrow at the Panzer IV's Commander. Miho is still visibly shaken, sitting with her knees drawn up against her chest.

You are Commander Russells of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and you'd always thought Miho was among the more well-adjusted people you'd known. The fact that she's hiding in a Pz 38(t) from her mother and sister (the latter of which seemed to be a friendly and helpful woman when you'd met her not more than a half an hour ago) shows that you might have been mistaken. There are some hardcore mommy issues here.

You decide to play dumb. "Your mother? Aren't you happy to see her?" You say, trying to be reassuring.

She digs her face further into her knees. "You don't understand." She says, almost sobbing. She wipes her face with her arm and you see tear stains on her sleeve as it comes away. You are deeply and thoroughly confused- Japan was unknown territory, Miho was unknown territory, relationships were and, for the most part still are, completely unknown territory. You barely know which way is up at this point. "You should go-" She says, again almost sobbing. "I don't want you missing out on all this just because of me..."

>We have to go deeper- what is wrong with Miho's family?
>Let her have some time alone.

"Nope." You say, leaning back again the side of the turret. "What sort of boyfriend would I be to just let you suffer in here alone!" You say, smiling over at Miho casually. "Besides, I already got my funnel cake." It was good, too. "You don't have to talk if you don't want to, but I'm not leaving you in here to cry all by yourself."

"Russells..." Miho says, looking up at you. She smiles and the normally shadowy interior of the tank seems to brighten a bit. She scooches around the rear of the gun and takes a seat on an ammo crate next to you, before leaning her head on your shoulder. "Thank you." She says, quietly. "For everything."

You throw an arm around her shoulder and give her a hug. "It's what I'm here for." You say, smiling and leaning your head over onto hers. It feels absolutely natural.

You sit there with her for a while- ten minutes? Twenty? The furthest thing from your mind right now is how long you've been in the tank. For her part, Miho's head hasn't left your shoulder and your arm hasn't left from his post around her the entire time- somewhere in the distance you feel like mabye this isn't the most comfortable place to spend extended amounts of time sitting, but you could care less- You're alone with Miho and she seems like she's feeling better so its good enough for you.

"Russells." Miho says quietly, sometime later. "You really don't have to do this..." she says, snuggling into your side a bit more and pulling your arm a bit tighter around her.

"Nope." You affirm, without even a twitch to get up and leave.

Miho sighs a bit. "...Its just..." She starts, before going silent for a bit longer. "I really do love my mother." She's quiet- you're not quite sure if shes even talking to you at this point. "It was just one... One stupid mistake is all. One stupid mistake and I screwed everything up!"

>"It wasn't a mistake..."

You don't say anything. You just hold her a bit while she talks, barely loud enough for you to hear with your ear literally pressed up against her head. She's talking to herself as much as she's talking to you- which is fine so long as she's talking and getting all of this out into the air instead of cooped up inside.

"...They would've died!" Miho says, her voice wavering. "They would've drowned and my mother would've had me listen to their screams on the video while we drove to victory..." She's quiet for a moment. "She's wrong... Victory isn't worth bloody hands..." She gulps as she pauses. "It's not worth any cost..."

You feel a wetness on your shoulder as she clenches her eyes closed and holds your arm. You pull her in closer, comforting the tank commander. You aren't sure that there's anything you can say at this point, but you need to say something to let Miho know she's right.

>Victory at any cost isn't true victory.

I don't doubt that they would have some kind of rescue team, but these are fuckhueg battlefields we're talking about, combined with the complacency that the magical carbon armor brings. It would take minutes for even a helicopter to reach the site, and it would take much less time than that for a rather non-bouyant tank to sink to a depth where rescue was impossible.

Supplement with a dash of self-awareness.

"What are we really doing, when we go out into the field? We're playing a game. Sure, we get into war machines, shoot at eachother with real gunpowder, and this sport is probably the most dangerous in the world, all things considered...but it's still a sport. The tanks are at least half a century old; they wouldn't be caught as WRECKS on the modern battlefield. The ammo is designed to do as LITTLE damage as possible, and every tank is stuffed full of safety systems and safeguards...all to ensure that no one gets hurt playing this fun...little...sport.

Your mother may be respected across the world as a Senshado teacher, but as far as I'm concerned, she knows NOTHING of tankery."

for all of you who care.

>You move your hands in return, starting something neither of you want to stop.
>Some time later the two of you are cuddled against each other, having finished what you started.
>With her head on your chest and your cheek on top of her mussed up hair, the two of you finish catching your breath, even as sleep starts to overtake the both of you.
>Just as your eyes are about to close you hear her mumble something into your chest.
>Shifting just slightly you manage to ask, “What?”
>She doesn’t say anything for a moment and you think that she might have fallen asleep.
>But she hasn’t and she manages to whisper three words you thought you’d never hear. “I love you…” she says, her voice sounding embarrassed even after what you’d just done.
>You almost freeze, but somehow your hindbrain kicks in before you can start to freak out and the words come out of your mouth like you’d spoken them a thousand times before. “I love you too Anchovy,” you say giving her a light hug and kissing her hair, the scent still tickling your nose even after all this time.
>You can feel her cheek warm against your chest as you do so and her arms squeeze back slightly before she adjusts herself one last time and falls asleep, you following shortly after.
>>
>>28710283
Honestly, I felt ACIV, was the best AC to be released as of late. Much better than the other shit before it
>>
>>28710290
>Sunlight wakes you as it shines through the window and onto your face.

>A smile comes to you as you notice Anchovy is still asleep against you.

>Moving as gently as you can, you slip out from under her, drawing only some mumbles as you put on your clothes from last night and go downstairs to check and see what she has in the kitchen.

>Opening the fridge you don’t find a lot, but it’s enough to get a decent breakfast going, some eggs, sausage and toast along with a little milk for both of you.

>You finish cooking and Anchovy hasn’t come out of the room yet, so you decide to bring her breakfast, carrying both of your plates on a tray you found in her cabinet.

>As you bump the door open with your hip you see Anchovy sitting up, blanket drawn up above her chest and a worried look on her face.

>As you come into view her face quickly changes to a picture of relief as you sit down on the bed and hand her breakfast.

>“Something wrong?” you ask as you spear some eggs and place them in your mouth.

>Anchovy takes a bite of toast before answering. “I…I thought you had left without saying anything,” she says nervously.
>>
>>28710315
>You look at her slightly downcast face as you finish chewing. You realize that this is not El Duce before you, just Anchovy, just a girl who is still slightly in shock after what happened last night.

>Setting your fork down you reach over and pull her head to yours, your forehead’s bumping together softly.

>Looking her in the eyes you say seriously, “I will always be there for you Anchovy. Even if I’m not physically there all you have to do is call me and I’ll come running. Because I love you.” The last three words are said with a soft emphasis, turning Anchovy’s face the color of a good Italian meat sauce.

>She doesn’t have anything to say to that apparently and just nods her head, heat radiating from her cheeks.

>You smile at her and give her a peck on the lips before going back to your food.

>The two of you eat in a comfortable silence, just the click of the utensils on the plates breaking the quiet.

>As you both finish you grab her plate and put it on the tray, planning on washing them for her.

>As you start to stand her hand reaches out and grabs hold of your sleeve, causing you to halt and turn to her.

>“Thank you,” she says, leaning in to kiss your cheek before looking you in the eye, her red eyes soft, “Thank you for everything.”

>The way she says it lets you know that she doesn’t mean just this morning or last night, but every night, every meal and every match.

>“You’re welcome,” you reply, smiling back at her.
>>
>>28710326
>You stand and move towards the kitchen once more and you hear her rustling around, getting dressed.

>As you finish cleaning you hear her walk in behind you and wrap her arms around your waist, leaning against your back softly.

>“Do you have to go?” she asks softly, knowing full well the answer before she even asks.

>“For a little bit,” you reply a touch sadly, knowing you’ll have to explain this to your parents. “I’ll try to come back tonight. If you want me too I mean.”

>It’s here that she turns you around. Rather, she tugs and you turn around for her.

>She quickly buries her face into your chest again, “Of course I do baka…” she mutters softly, before looking up at you, “I love you.”

>You smile at her and lean down for a kiss. “I love you too,” you say softly, bringing another blush to her cheeks.

>You stay like that for a few minutes before she lets go and you both walk to the door, your clothes the only thing you brought with you.

>Pausing on the step she takes your hands in hers.

>“You’ll be back as soon as you can, right?” she asks one more time.

>“Of course,” you say, meaning it completely.

>“You better,” she says, before looking about and pulling you in for a deep kiss.

>Breaking it just as suddenly as she started it, she turns and runs inside, hiding everything but her head behind the door.

>“I love you,” she says quickly before shutting the door, apparently unable to be as honest when people might be listening.

>“I love you too,” you reply to the door, a smile on your face and a bounce in your step all the way home.

Aaaand finished once more.

Not my greatest work, but for a sudden request, me running on little sleep and it being nearly five in the morning I think it was acceptable.

Let me know what you think and if you have any requests for similar stuff, throw them at me and I'll see if I can do anything for you guys.

Do I need to get the chickens ready or should I move it up to goats?

He fell asleep.

how about a human? jk

try goats.

Right now, I think we need something more powerful. Bring out the virgins.
>>
>>28710482
I don't know, usually just asking if he's dead is enough to bring him out, but that was an hour ago.

what do we do after two hours? This has never happened before!

caffiene would probably help more, he fell asleep :P
>>
>>28710511
Wait, did he?

Bloody unreliable QM
>>
>>28710544

He's obviously sick.

Time to call President Madagascar and SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHIIIIIING.
>>
>>28710517
Okay...is there a Dragoncon or something similar in Germany? I can round up a few there I imagine.

>>28710571
Damn, you may be right...and all my roomate has on hand is decaf.
>>
>>28710587
Which brings up the question: which is worse? A QM that's slow to update/falls asleep (but keeps going... eventually) or one that is quick to update until he accidentally gets banned?
>>
>>28710671
Neither. The worst is a QM that abandons his quest halfway through. I'm looking at you, Umar.
>>
>>28710692
Umar? as in what quest? just asking.
>>
>>28710671
I prefer the latter. There's more excitement.
>>
>>28710671
Well I don't mind BlackJack's posting speed as long we have good tanks discussion going on in the meantime. Just wish he'd advance the plot a little more with each thread.

As for LGA, the one goes almost too fast for me. It's literally started, finished, and off the board in the period of time that I sleep in.

So long as the QM comes back and finishes it I'm happy.

Char who runs Bright Quest for example..

BLACKJACK

You shake your head. "She was wrong then." You say quietly, so as not to startle Miho. "She was wrong, you were right." Your blood is up at this last bit- Chouno had already told you the story, but seeing the devestaing effects of it first hand, on someone you've grown to love and admire as a colleague and girlfriend... It's all you can do not to shout. "It's a game. Senshado, Tankery, it's all a goddamn game." You stare straight ahead, your voice never raising above a whisper. "Sure, these are warmachines and some of them have probably been used to take lives. But we're goddamned kids!"

Miho turns at looks at you, but you're in a righteous, angry gaijin mode. "Russells..." She says, trying to sooth you. "You don't need to..."

"...The hell I don't." You say- you never meant for that anger to leak out against her, but she goes quiet and lets you rant. "We're kids and this is a sport. We play it for fun. Fun!" Your heart is pounding now, you swear you hear wardrums, but that might just be the taiko drummers going in the distance. "Anyone who would sacrifice childrens lives- and then her relationship with her daughter- for something that's basically a highschool sport..." You shake your head. "Miho, you aren't your mother. I would never want you to be your mother." You fire drains from your veins as quickly as it rose, and you leans into her and hug her. "Please, don't ever be her. Don't ever become her."

As you let her go, though, the side of the I-Go's hatch opens and Patrick's face appears. "Oh, how darling." He says sarcastically as he looks at you and Miho, but his eyes bely his approval- you've known him way too long for him to ever give you genuine, heartfelt praise. You feel the love anyway.

"What is it Patrick?" You say, annoyed that he was interrupting your moment. Wait. This was a moment?

"You better come." He says grimly. "We've got a... situation."
