You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

You rouse yourself to a new day, Wednesday to be precise. You check your phone, and yep there’s a text message from Nancy about the Pool party today. Excellent. Tanks can wait for today, because it’s time to rest and relax at the pool!

You hop out of bed and head to the shower. A good shower’s always good for waking you up and keeping you clean. Man, your thoughts seem to like obvious statements. But regardless, showers are great, can’t beat them. You finish off your shower and dry yourself off.

For today, you forget the underwear and decide on wearing your two-piece bathing suit underneath the white button down shirt of your school uniform and that black skirt. Multi-purpose at its finest.

You also get breakfast sorted out for yourself, and then pack up a few things you might need, laptop, a few copies of Doc Savage, other things for casual rest, and a good towel for yourself.

So, what do you want to do first?

Glad the merchants took the Sentinel instead of the delinquints. As funny as putting the delinquints in the Aussie tank is, there's five of em, and the ACIII and up only have room for four.

> Wake Kitten

You head out of your dorm and head down to Kitten’s dorm. You knock on the door. “Kitten! Time for a Pool Party!” You continue knocking. Hm. No answer. Fine then.

Instead of kicking the door like you usually do, you simply pull out the Sophomore Dorm Master Key. You actually had this since school started but hell, now seems like a good time to use it. You unlock Kitten’s door and walk right in. “Kitten! Wake up, wake up, wake up!”

Kitten is lying in bed, staring up at the ceiling. You must have just woken her up. She says, “Go away.”

“Oh come on, you’re not gonna let that bathing suit gather dust like that, are you?”

“Yes.”

You walk over, pull the covers off, then simply carry Kitten into the shower and get her all fresh and neat for the day.

“Why do I have to wear my bathing suit underneath?”

You simply say, “Because.”

Kitten ends up decked out in her one piece bathing suit, and on top she wears her school uniform. You almost wanted her to get that sundress on but an angry Kitten is nothing to shake a leaf at.

Kitten crosses her arms, pouting. “Why do I have to go?”

Because it'll be fun!

>>28697245
We could bust them down to the Panzer IV, if they still screw-up with the Panther.
Can't aim with a high velocity gun, and complaints about the shell weight might be enough to get them sorted back to basics.
Gotta learn to walk before you run and all that.
Might take a morale hit though.
>>
>>28697315
The panther and Pz.IV both have the same sized shells, I think. The difference between high and low velocity ammo is probably the amount of propellant, though in the end they'll end up with roughly similar guns.

Don't we get the option to upgrade the sentinel to mark II, Schteel? I hate the 25pdr more than I should. It's a field artillery piece that has no place in tank warfare!
>>
> Boast

“Because it’ll be fun, Kitten! You get to relax out in the sun for once! Get your skin wet and soaked with all kinds UV-rays from the Sun. It’s not healthy staying inside all the time!”

Kitten rolls her eyes. “Okay, Mom.”

“Plus, you get to hang out with the other crews, maybe they have something in common with you. Maybe Marina and her friends play War Thunder or something.”

Kitten simply shrugs at that. Eh, no convincing her otherwise. You get some breakfast in her real quick with some good healthy cereal. You and Kitten then head outside and bask in the morning sun. Sunny day, not a cloud in the sky, and actually pretty damn hot out. Perfect weather for a pool party.

You’re sure since you say that now, that maybe it’ll start raining. Whatever, enough tempting fate. Time for Pool!

The ground shakes a bit then you realize it’s the Sherman pulling. Lisa, Ramirez, and Nancy are turned out of the hatches. Nancy asks you, “Ready to go?”

“Sure thing. Let’s saddle up!”

You and Kitten hop aboard the turret, then Lisa pulls the Sherman out onto the street and forward. Nancy looks positively giddy. “This is going to be so much fun, I’m sure of it!”

You smile. “Gotta say, Nancy, it’s been ages since I’ve been to a proper party!”

Ramirez says, “Is that because you’ve never been invited to a party?”

“… maybe.”

Kitten crosses her arms. “Well, let’s just get this stuff over with. I’d like to get back to tanks at some point.”

“Don’t worry, Kitten!” You suddenly remember the ITL email. “ITL emailed me, says not only do we qualify for the World Cup, but we’re also invited to a little get together up in England! All kinds of teams and tanks are gonna be there!”

“That’s great!” says Nancy. “I can’t wait to meet new people, it’ll be a blast, I’m sure!”

The 6pdr is probably the best stopgap until we can convert it properly into an ACIV, which involves a new turret and changing the frontal armour in addition to the 17pdr.

I'm wondering what other mods we could add to it eventually. They always wanted to give the thing a 400hp pratt & whitney radial, but there never were any to spare.

Those hundred extra horses would do wonders for the thing. It only gets around 10hp/ton right now, and that's fucking HORRIBLE. Barely enough to climb a flight of stairs.
>>
> Polite

“Oh I’m sure it’ll be nothing but nice people there, Lisa. It’s England after all! They got their politeness and their teas and their stiff upper lips and shit like that.”

Nancy says, “That’s stereotypical!”

You say, “It’s a stereotype that has some factual basis!”

Anyway, with that done, you arrive at the school’s swimming pool. It is a very large pool that could be used in the Olympics if needed. It’s not needed now though because you and your Tankery crew have some need of it.

The Sherman pulls into the parking lot. All of you dismount and head in. Like Nancy expected, the pool’s pretty much empty today. All kinds of people just vacationing in Casablanca, getting their feet and everything else sticky with sand.

Not so at the pool.

You spot O’Hara and O’Brian in red one pieces with white trim. Lifeguards you assume. They wave at you, and you wave back.

So, what do you want to do now?

> Teach Kitten how to swim

With that, you and Kitten strip off your clothes and immediately head into the warm water. You stay on the shallow end, allowing Kitten some leg room in learning how to float. You place your arms underneath Kitten’s chest as she lies forward on the water.

“Alright, Kitten, all you have to do is kick and use your arm your arms to propel. Maintain a good rhythm, otherwise you’ll sink.”

Kitten nods nervously. “Alright…”

“Now, I’m gonna let go.”

You let go, and Kitten immediately sinks to the bottom.

O’Hara blows her whistle and points to the water. “WE GOT A SINKER!” She and O’Brian immediately dive into the water, and under a minute, reach Kitten. They immediately surface, bringing Kitten out with them.

Kitten coughs up chlorine and water. “T-This swimming shit sucks!”

You sigh. What are you going to do.

O’Brian says, “Well that’s because you don’t have friends, Megan.”

“YOU CUNT I’LL-“ O’Hara is interrupted by a splash from the indifferent O’Brian. “AAHH!”

“Anyway,” you say. “Think you two can help out Kitten?” All three of you look over at Kitten, who’s wringing her hair of water and chlorine.

O’Hara crosses her arms. “Well, I’ll see what we can do.” She walks over to Kitten and grabs her wrists. “Now, Kitten, the proper way to do a front crawl is to take your arms like this,” She starts moving Kitten’s arms in the proper manner of a front crawl. “Along with kicking your legs in proper motion- WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU LAUGHING O’BRIAN?”

“Right, just lie back, and keep your arms out like so.”

You place your arms underneath Kitten as she attempts to float on her back. Kitten looks up at you, nervous. “I’m going to die here, aren’t I?”

“No, I’ve got you, just relax. That’s the important part of swimming. Fight the ocean and you’ll drown.”

Kitten sighs and looks back up at the sky. “Whatever.”

“Right,” You get ready to release her. “You ready?”

“Yeah, ready to drown.”

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

You let go of Kitten. To your utter surprise, she is indeed floating. “Kitten! You’re floating!”

“I am? Awesome!” She raises her hands in triumph, then immediately sinks.

Well, that was short lived.

You and Kitten sit on the edge of the pool, idly kicking your legs into the water. Kitten sighs, crossing her arms, a towel around her shoulders. “Well, I was floating for a few seconds.”

“Yeah,” You rustle her wet hair a bit. “We can stop there if you’d like.”

“Hey, Nancy, need my help with anything?”

Nancy nods. She’s already clad in a nice little blue bikini underneath her apron. “Sure! Would you bringing out some of stuff from the Sherman? That’d be great!”

You nod. “Of course!”

You head out to the Sherman and see the cooler and stuff like umbrellas, bags of towels, the like secured to the top of the engine block. Huh, you didn’t notice that this morning. Oh well. You quickly unsecure the stuff and start bringing the stuff in. You set the cooler down, you set the ggrille down next to Nancy, you start laying out the towels along the pool, you start unfolding umbrellas, and lastly you hand Nancy some sun tan lotion. You wipe your brow, exhausting work that was. Where the hell is Ramirez when you need her?

“Thanks, President!” says Nancy. At least she’s grateful.

You sit down on a towel, sighing with relief. Then you hear the familiar engine sound of the Churchill IV. You look over and see the Freshmen dismounting the Churchill and heading in, ready for some pool party action.

Cathy greets you. “Hey, Gertrude! What’s up?”

“Yeah, hope we don’t mind bringing Earl out here though, see you’ve brought the Sherman though.”

You nod, smiling. “Yeah, yeah… who’s Earl?”

“The Churchill,” She points over to the Churchill. You squint your eyes and see small white lettering on the turret, labeling it “Earl.”

You quirk your brow. “You named your tank?”

Cathy giggles, blushing a little. “Oh, yeah… Well, the girls all agreed it needed a name, you know? You name yours?”

You shake your head. “Nah, hadn’t thought of it actually.”

> Get some suntan lotion on

“Hey, Kitten, come over and I’ll get this suntan lotion on you.”

Kitten comes over and sits down, thus you squirt a bit into your hands, rub them together, then start rubbing them on Kitten’s shoulder. “So, Kitten, enjoying yourself?”

“No.”

You start running the lotion down her arms. You frown, “Oh, why not?”

“Well, I’m still at square one with swimming, there’s still no one I can effectively talk to except you and I’m actually kind of hungry.”

“Oh, don’t worry.” You squirt a bit into your hands and start working on Kitten’s legs. “You know, Nancy’s got a grille, we might get some very good burgers out here.”

“Eh…”

You finish off Kitten’s legs, then turn her around and start spreading the lotion around on her face, neck, and the other areas around her swimsuit. “Alright, that should be you done.” You smirk. “Unless you want more…?”

“No thanks.”

“Good, now do me.”

Kitten starts working on your exposed skin. “You know, I overheard you talking with Cathy about naming the tank.”

“Yeah, what of it?”

“We gonna name our tank?”

Just because we don't know doesn't mean to that you should assume we won't. As for the delinquents, what kind of shitty leader would give up on them after a single practice session, and only a horrible leader would purposefully gimp her team, that is trying to save the entire school, so that she can set aside a good tank not to be used. Just because you might not like them doesn't mean you try to give them something worse, you keep trying.

>I think we should run the tank and hopefully get the delinquents to give a shit.
First they have to prove they deserve being given a shit. And in any case a Panzer IV is a pretty good tank with the long 75.

It's not driveable in any legal configuration, it injures its users, and it's only that cheap because whoever was the owner needed to clear some garage space. It would end up taking up garage space and never doing anything.

You shrug. “I dunno. I’m not even particular sure what we should name our tank honestly.”

Kitten says, “I’m preferential for In The Mood.”

You look at her funny. “… What?”

“Hey,” she shrugs. “Names don’t have to make sense you know.”

You sigh. “Of course. You done.” She splats lotion on your face, causing you to flinch.

Kitten grins. “Now I am.”

With that, you hear the sound of the KV-1S and the M5A1 Stuart arriving. The Aviators and the Poles dismount and head in, greeting everyone like the Freshmen, Nancy, and finally you.

“Hey, Gertrude,” says Marina. “I see you’re having some fun!”

Janek strips off her shirt, revealing her red bikini. “Girls! INTO THE POOL!”

The Poles all strip off their clothes, revealing their swimsuits. They all dive in and start playing.

Marina sits down next to you. “So, what’s up, Gertrude?”

(Get it? Since we play by a pool chances are someone's going to fall into it, but being wet could also mean one of the girls becoming sexually aroused)

> Talk to someone (Team Wojtek)

“Hey, Janek, hey girls.”

Janek surfaces, creating a giant splash of water. She looks over at you, smiling. “Hey, Gertrude! Lovely of you to organize a pool party for all of us!”

You wave her off. “Nancy’s idea! I’m just supporting her!”

Gussie swims over, “It’s real nice to have the pool all to ourselves though! It’s a real treat!”

George also says, “I think we can agree that it is awesome to have this pool party!”

“I think we came to that conclusion a while ago, George,” says Janek. “Anyway, thanks again for the pool! When’s the World Cup coming up?”

“Early October, so that means we have a few weeks to practice and such.”

Janek pumps her fist. “We’ll be ready!”

With that, more tanks arrive. The SU-122 and the SOMUA S35. The Rifle Team and the Sewing Club have arrived. Anna waves over at you, and you immediately notice all the Sewing Club members are wearing incredibly nice hats for the sunny weather.

“We’ve arrived!” says Anna.

Samantha says, “We’re ready to get wet!” With that, the Rifle Team immediately strip off their clothes and jump in, joining in with the Aviators and the Poles.

Anna rolls her eyes. “Uncivilized.” She looks over at you, smiling. “How are you doing, Gertrude? I trust you’re well?”

You wave her off, blushing a little. “Oh, I’m not anything to shake a stick at, Anna, honestly!”

Bess says, “Don’t be so modest, I think you have a lovely body.”

Mamie also says, “I agree. You look lovely.”

Okay girls, that’s enough, please. You giggle nervously. “Yeah, yeah…” you say.

Lisa surfaces out of the water on Ramirez’s back. “It’s time for some water sports! Hey, Boss! Get the girls together, let’s do some cavalry battles!”

You nod. “Righto!” You quickly snatch up Kitten, much to her surprise.

“Lisa, Ramirez, TO VICTORY!”

All of you shout cries of honor and battle, while Kitten shouts of horror and not wanting to do this. Regardless, the Freshmen respond with their own battle cries, and thus the two teams join battle.

“Grab it, Kitten! GRAB IT!” you shout.

“I’M TRYING NUMBNUTS!” she responds as she wrestles with Andrea over the hats.

Mamie says, “I don’t think it was a good idea bringing our good hats today.”

Kitten gets a neat thought, and then when her hands are interlocked with Andrea’s, she pulls on them instead of pushing, causing Andrea to lose her balance. In that ensuing moment, the hat is collected, the Freshmen all tumble to the briny deep.

“I have no idea what that means!” you shout back. “Let’s get right to it anyway!”

You all charge each other, Kitten is taken aback by Janek’s sheer upper body strength. You shift the horse to the left, hoping to try and catch the Poles off guard. All you’ve really managed to accomplish was shift the playing field.

“Ha, scared?” says Janek.

Kitten says, “A bit, yes.”

Janek grins evilly, “Girls! ADVANCE!” The Poles scream as they charge at you. You quickly shift your horse to the right.

Gussie must have had a bad footing, because POLETRON immediately collapses, disqualifying them.

The Poles surface.

Gussie says, “My fault.”

“Congrats on your victory, girls.” You point at them, smirking a bit. “Next time you won’t be so lucky.”

You stand next to Luciano as she lies down, basking in the sun. “Hey, Luciano.”

Luciano tips her sunglasses down, looking at you inquisitively. “Hey, need something?”

“Eh, just wanted to talk.”

“What about?”

You shrug. “Stuff. What exactly makes the five of you delinquents?”

Luciano says, “Bad disciplinary records, low grades. In a land high school, the teachers just curb your grades until you graduate so they seem like good teachers. Here on an Academyship, if you fail, by god you fail.”

Lansky says, “We all have the most outstanding disciplinary records, they could actually kick us off if they wanted to, but Pinkerton and O’Bannon offered to wipe our records if we did Tankery.”

“Which is why,” Luciano says, “We’re doing Tankery.”

You nod, scratching your chin. “Well then. I’m sure you at least acknowledge that you gotta work for this kind of stuff right? Tankery isn’t just about tanks you know.”

Luciano shrugs. “Yeah, whatever.”

O’Hara and O’Brian walk over. “Ah, don’t bother with these losers, Pool. They’ll be off the ship within the month if their record gets past Law Enforcement Studies and into the faculty.”

Luciano looks over at O’Hara, smirking. “Well, if it isn’t Lafayette Girls Academy’s cutest couple.”

“YOU FUCKING CUNT I’LL-“ O’Brian slaps her hand over O’Hara’s mouth.

You sigh. “Look, Luciano. If Tankery is your last chance, then I’m not gonna play nice with you if you don’t play nice with me. Understand?”

“Yeah, whatever.”

You roll your eyes. Probably the best you’re gonna get.

You smirk. Your time to shine now. You quickly take up the beachball and spike it up into the air. Everyone shouts that they’re going to catch it, but it ends up being smacked back up into the air by Anna.

You see it heading towards you, you quickly clasp your hands together, ready to take this one on. Then Janek suddenly jumps onto your shoulders and spikes the ball out of your path, all without you even feeling a thing.

“Janek, how’d you do that!?” you ask.

Janek waves you off. “Practice! Did it all the time in my Middle School Rugby team!”

You slap the beachball back into the air again. It hangs for a few seconds, then is immediately shot into a different direction by a very powerful stream of water. You look over to the source and see Samantha, and the rest of the Rifle Team wielding CPS Super Soakers.

“Haha!” laughs, Samantha. “No need to get your hands dirty when you have Constant Pressure System Super Soakers!” She looks over at Natalya. “Natalya, what do you feel when you fire a CPS Super Soaker at the target?”

Natalya says, “Recoil.”

Katya laughs. “Hey, shoot me with one those things, let’s see how powerful they are.” Katya is immediately shot in the chest, barreling her into the water.

“Wow,” says Jenny. “That’s pretty powerful.”

Katya surfaces. “I’ll say!”

Good thing they came up with that idea, you almost came close to asking them to shoot you.

You slap the ball back into the air and immediately Natalya fires again, slamming the ball out of the air and directly into O’Brian’s head.

O’Brian wakes up. “What was that!?”

“Hey, Nancy,” Nancy has decided to take a dip in the pool. She lies back at the edge, leaning back as the rest of her body floats. “You having fun?”

Nancy nods. “All in good fun! I believe Ace said she’d bring dinner around too!”

Dinner? But it’s only… 5 O’Clock. Wow.

Lisa hops into the pool as well, sighing in relief in the warm water. “Gotta say! This feels great!”

Kitten walks over, smiling warmly. “Yeah, I must admit, Trudy. This is fun!”

“Yes!” You slap Kitten’s back. “I got you to admit that this is fun! Day over! Let’s go home!”

Nancy says, “Still though, it’s nice to relax. We do have practice tomorrow, not to mention Homecoming on Saturday.”

Ah, it’s on Saturday. Okay, good.

“Real good thing you’re doing here, Gertrude. Sorry we couldn’t be here earlier.”

Octavia says, “Anyway,” she holds up a picnic basket. “We brought some dinner, if you want some?”

“So, Octavia, you and Ace have a lot of fun lately?”

Octavia smiles, nodding. “Yep! Got to visit around Casablanca, not to mention see Robert A. Heinlein Academyship. You know, Robert A. Heinlein isn’t just an Academyship, it’s a fully functioning Naval base with its own garrison. It’s crazy!”

You nod. “17 Kilometers of freedom and apple pie.”

“Yep.” She bites into her sandwich as she watches Ace hold her breath against the Sewing Club. “Almost went to Heinlein with her, but decided on Lafayette. Don’t think the military life is for me.”

You shrug. “It’s not for everyone.”

Kitten says, “Definitely know it’s not for me.” You chuckle as you rustle Kitten’s hair. “Anyway, Octavia, it’s nice of you to help us out with Tankery.”

Octavia shrugs. “Oh I haven’t done much. It just doesn’t feel the same without the rest of the crew.”

“Of course,” you say. “Think we can get them around to joining us?”

Octavia says, “They have to move on at some point.”

With that, the sun starts setting on the day. Everyone starts packing up and heading to their tanks, exhausted but feeling rejuvenated and happy. You climb up onto your Sherman and decide a good addressing is in order.

I think we can replenish our cash by then, optimistically speaking.

It's only a chassis, we'd have to by an upgrade kit as well.

“Of course I am! Everyone seems to be in good spirits now, so I should be in good spirits as well.”

Kitten nods. “Good attitude to have, Trudy.”

Lisa sits down on the bed, yawning. “Still… tired as hell. Swimming really takes it out of you, you know?”

“Yeah, it does.” You sit up. “Still, you can all sleep over here if you’d like, I don’t mind.”

Nancy gasps. “Oh! I wouldn’t want to intrude!”

You wave her off. “It’s fine! It’s fine. You’re all my friends after all! That’s what friends do!” They all smile at you.

> + 5 MORALE TO GERTRUDE’S CREW

Lisa looks over at the TV. “Oh, Crimson Skies is on.”

OH SHIT. You quickly plop down next to an excited Kitten and Nancy. TIME FOR CRIMSON SKIES!

Fair enough, we can always use more T-34s.

See you next time, and thanks for not bursting into another /u/boat shistorm.

Only because I like the quest, and you, baby.
>>
>>28703939
Looks like that's because it was mostly pool and tanks based. Barely any mention of homecoming or Eugene. That stuff's like chum being thrown to sharks. But thanks for running, boss.

I'm assuming they just got all riled up yesterday at the implication of males being within a 100 ft radius.

Either way, I look forward to tomorrow!

Tank discussion time?

I had a crazy idea (which I probably won't follow through) where the KV-1S is converted to an SU-152, the SU-122 is converted to a T-34-85, and their respective teams get switched around.

Rifles get the tank destroyer that hunts "animals" (Tigers, Panthers, and Elefants) and will have to rely on camo (invoking snipers with ghillie suits) and have some fire discipline (due to limited rounds).

Aviators still keep a big gun tank with a turret, can go even faster, and turn on a dime a la dog fighting.

I know it's pigeonholing, but at least the crews are easier to remember and associate with. And like I said, I won't be pressing the idea to much.

*woke up*

*sees people buy the pershing*'

"Come on people, couldn't we discussed we talked to Octavia or something about whether or not the tank si worth it."

It's rare, it's vintage, its post war, That going to be expsenisve as hell.

I think everyone is effected by Blackjack's quest
>>

It's not a horrible idea, but we don't have the money for it.

Also, the rifles have expressed a desire for a turret, so we should respect that.

>post war

If anything, that would drive the cost down because of less demand by other Tankery Teams,.
>>
>>28704881
But it's a rare tank, and a vintage.

We should have talked to Octovia before making the purchase. Can we cancel the purchase if possible.

I really hope, we don't use it as our carry tank. Too much similar to GUPQ for my taste and I grown attached to the Sherman

German is it possible to cancel a purchase before it comes through
