I swing the first blade into a parry as she come in, and cross with my other hand. She's forced back a step, but a couple of quick thrusts tangle my swords together. It's only for an instant, but she's already past me, and with a deft twist she hooks one of the belf-loops on my pants with her wooden blade and uses it to throw me across the dojo.

"I'm not sure what happened, but I think we're done for now." Saber says with a sigh. "I don't know where that earlier burst of competence came from, but you're too distracted to fight right now."

"I can keep going...." I half protest as I stand back up.

"You are remarkably durable, but even you have your limits." She responds with a shake of her head, almost smiling. I wince slightly at the memory, and also Saber's obvious mix of guilt and irritation. "Not always, no." I say slowly. "Sometimes I almost look like I know what I'm doing."

I sit down, and take a deep breath. Something about that earlier fight was bothering me. As I close my eyes, I can almost see it in my head... the broken filed littered with swords. The thing Archer referred to as a 'Reality Marble'.

I feel like it's a place that doesn't exist, and yet it sort of does.... like an idea of what could be.

As I sit there, I can feel something inside, that impossible sword refusing to take shape. I refuse to focus on it, trying to figure something out what Saber meant when she said it was like 'fighting Archer'. Does it mean my abilities are progressing and I'm becoming more like him?

I won't be here for second part of this thread, but I have a suggestion for actions after looking for Bedivere (If Ilya won't find a bloodbath in Sakura's room): talk with Saber about Avalon. I pointed out in a previous thread that Merlin said it's something more than a scabbard and I think it might be affecting us just because Saber considers us her Master. To avoid mentioning the meddling wizard we could just say we always work with concepts of weapons, not the real things.

Neat, first test and that extra roll shows some use

I hesitate slightly before opening my eyes and taking a sniff. I quickly grab the only scent that doesn't smell like some sort of human, and follow it to Sakura's room.

Ilya hesitates outside the door, but something else has my attention. I step outside trying to figure out what is is, Saber a confused but respectful distance behind me.

It's almost like blood, and then I recognize it. It's that same smell that poison had to it that Ilya removed from both me and Rin. It's in the Dojo, and in the yard..... and as I smell it it feels like it's in the air itself. It's faint, but ever present.

But..... it's not the same somehow. Like a color filter over the world, without the actual taint.

Ilya returns smiling, saying something about Bedivere trying to help Sakura, but she changes tone when she looks at me. "Onii-chan? What's wrong?"

I lean back out of the way, and I see the spear come within inches of my face. Looking past it I see that Rider has gone high into the trees and that the figure is the same one who attacked me that day in the woods, chasing Shinji.

As the second spear comes in, I already have my swords at the ready, parrying and blocking them. As I do, I see they're made of the same inky blackness that Avenger used in combat. It clicks together easily, with what I know now. Avenger's been doing something with his camp in the woods.

And in order to find out what, I have to get past this guardian he set in the way.

The lance rips my shirt and blocking the next few blows sends me back and tumbling down the hill slightly.

I see the Shadowman throwing himself down the hill after me, but he's quickly intercepted by Rider who sends him into a tree with a well placed kick.

They trade blows for a few moments, Rider easily having the mobility advantage, but he's smart with his Spears, keeping her at range.

Damn, Lancer is a bad match-up. He's got A+ agility allowing him to match Rider in speed and he's got a range advantage. Unless him being alter slows him down like in case of Saber

I rush back into the fray, and the Shade almost takes my head off in return. I throw myself to one side to dodge a well timed lance-thrust to my face, and end up getting kicked in the spine hard enough that I feel it pop.

I roll a short distance away, and I see Rider take a hard kick to the stomach as well, slamming her hard against a nearby tree as the Shade stalks closer to her.
