Also, Arch, I've been wondering based on reading some of the archived stuff: Am I correct in interpreting the notion that magic is essentially the premise for life in this setting? That is to say, if it is 'alive' then it can produce magic, one way or another? And that the crystal parasite is an example of that?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking that if the crystal in our bracelet is a living organism, then it is magically charged, and thus we might be able to channel its power with our spells. Like attaching the crystal bracelet to our shield spell to enhance it and create a crystal shield.
