Druids in pathfinder for instance get both wildshape and alter self at will at higher levels. The latter especially- What if a female elven druid alter self's into a human, gets pregnant, and stays altered until she gives birth? What if she conceives before changing form, or reverts before giving birth? Does wildshape function any differently?

If hard pressed, I might say that wildshape pregnancies like that are where were[whatever]s come from, if that doesn't contradict other fluff.

The child's natural form is that of whatever it has spent the most time as, which would normally, usually, mean whatever the mother is normally. If effort is taken, especially with the alter-self at will ability, it can easily be something else. Good thing druids have healing magic, because birthing some things as other things may be quite dangerous.

Wild shape:
If conceived and birthed in one form, it's an abnormally intelligent version of whatever. If birthed in human form, it's a were-creature or has a strong spirit-animal style connection.

In this setting, there are a series of cursed hot springs, each one named for the creature that died in it. If a creature falls into one, then they are cursed. If they are covered in cold water, they turn into the creature that died in that spring, hot water turns them back.

Anyway, there is a clan in this setting (see link) that has a tradition. The males of the clan will hunt down a powerful animal opponent and throw them into "The Spring of Drowned Girl," which turns them into a young human girl. They then use a magic teapot (roll with it) to make the change permanent.
The creature is still an animal in mind, but the clan members will marry/impregnate them anyway to increase the power of their line.
One of the main families in the clan are descended from dragons, for example.

IRL mythology on the subject says that succubi and incubi are the same creature. Since demons can't reproduce (evil being unable to reproduce), this breed of demon will turn into a female to gain human sperm, which they will then use to impregnate a human female as an incubus.
Human/demon hybrids (or beings made using this method) are called cambions. This can work out well for the child, or very, very badly.
Two famous cambions are Merlin from the Arthurian Legends, and Caliban from Shakespeare's The Tempest (my favorite play by him, btw)
