Princess Marianne is attending a meeting with her father, and the others are nowhere to be found... for the first time since she arrived here in Marconetti, Melanie is all alone. And naturally, this only serves to increase her sense of guilt and unease at a mere maid like her being treated as a royal guest.

Yes, this must be some kind of divine punishment for sleeping in... while she spent all night trying to advise Sylvie about how to handle her crush on Reinhold and her newfound rivalry with Princess Luciana, that's still no excuse.

After all, Mr. Arnaud says that there's never a reason to let down one's guard!

With a sigh, Melanie gets up from the chair that she was sitting in and makes her way out into the hallway. While she certainly would have liked to spend the day with Nicolette and Sylvie, she might as well make the most of the day.

What to do... shopping for jewelry's out of the question since that kind of thing's no fun to do alone...

"Hmm... that's it!" Melanie says out loud, clapping her hands together. "Souvenirs!"

Things in the castle have been going so well ever since Mr. Reinhold arrived, so buying everyone something nice to show her appreciation would be a great idea!

Happy that she's finally figured out what to do, Melanie makes her way through the labyrinthine corridors of this unfamiliar castle. There are far more people here today than there were a few days ago when they first arrived... perhaps it's because Prince Emilio's birthday is tomorrow?

If so, then they must be guests for the party, and that means that they're most likely nobility... while Melanie may technically be considered a guest here, she's still a maid. Remembering one of the first things that Mr. Arnaud taught her when she first started working at the castle back in Granache, she makes a special point to walk close to the wall on one side of the hallway so as not to accidentally run into someone or otherwise get in their way.

Of course, this kind of thing only works when the people you're trying to avoid are also avoiding you in turn.

"Kyaa!" Melanie squeaks as a fancy-looking woman angrily shoves her aside as if she was nothing at all.
"Stupid commoners... you really should watch where you're going!" the woman remarks as she cuts Melanie a cold glance.

Deciding to ignore that last little bit of oddness, Melanie successfully manages to avoid any more unpleasant encounters with Marconetti's nobility (though she did catch a few derisive glances along the way), and makes it out of the castle.

Walking along the main road towards the fountain, Melanie breathes a sigh of relief... there seems to be nothing but normal people out here, and the city itself is quite beautiful! Deciding to take a quick breather and maybe grab a bite to eat at one of the food carts before starting on her shopping, she makes her way towards the fountain.

After a fair bit of walking, Melanie finally makes it to her destination. The area around the fountain is as active as ever, with countless people wandering around, sitting on its edges, shopping at the various food carts that are scattered about, and otherwise passing through... it's quite the scene.

As Melanie takes it all on, her attention is broken by a small red-haired girl tugging on her dress.

"Hi!" the girl says, a wide smile on her face.

I actually made a timeline of the planet itself a LONG time ago, but some specific dates have changed since then so I'll refrain from posting for now.

Elemental spirits have existed since the planet was forming. Anrasorana, Alsiradna and a few others actually survived from that time, and can recall it clearly.

Dragons came MUCH later, after the planet actually looked Earthlike and there were plants and animals and all that fun stuff.

Humans are relatively recent in the long run.
