My people, hearken to me! It is now the sacred time, and we tell the history of our people in keeping with ancient tradition.

In the last two years we received Orlanth's blessing to form a tribe by completing The Making of the Storm Tribe heroquest. At the same time, we formed an alliance with the Mule Deers, the last of our close neighbors. Our preparations complete, we elected Elusu to be our chief in recognition of his Heroic Leadership. Finally, Einarth Milk-Eyes came and prophesied that we would make a tribe.

This year we will form the Great Northern Tribe. If you have a name to suggest, speak it now.

Time to choose our first recruitment target. We'll meet with them after the next event. Since we're feuding with the Vostangi and the Jenestni, we're not going to bother with them.

Speaking of next events, give me another action for Sea season. If no one suggests anything, I'll run The Making of the Storm Tribe to improve our tribe-building chances.

It's less intimidating than it looks. Pick one of our neighbors (minus Jenestni and Vostangi) and after our next action we meet with them to make our case for why they should join our tribe. A legitimate one. Birds fly around all the time. A persuasive leader can convince the clan that it doesn't mean anything, and since Glorantha is a world where narrative effects reality, sometimes that's enough to avert disaster.

At last!

Negotiation is give and take. If you want something from them, you have to give more to them. The mutual support oath is easy, the Odayla sacrifices and hunting rights will make convincing other clans harder and the regalia donation might make convincing them harder (but it can make a later event a bit easier).

Gifting is always easy though.

Hunting rights, I would say. After all, it's the most important for them.

Elusu's pretty buff, wouldn't have any problems with the heroquest if this weren't tied for most deadly heroquest in the game. His Leadership is maxed out, too.
>>
>>28567111

Hmm. Let's strengthen his combat before we try the Elmal quest, then. Elmal takes a beating in that heroquest, and combat might help offset the lethality of it.
>>
>>28567156
It does, and Magic helps too. Elusu is at Renowned Combat, which is the second highest tier after Heroic, and Excellent magic (one step under Renowned).

Still, sounds like we should hold off on Elmal. We could run Elusu through Lhankor Mhy, but that runs the risk of having him out for the next negotiation.

Since that's not a good idea, should we go exploring or trading again?

Time to negotiate with the Tree Brothers. As the ancient text clan, they have the ability to create a tribal map, which will occasionally be updated with the explorations of other clans.

The Lhankor Mhy seat is another easy handout; very few clans want it. Literate kings is hard-mode, the Tree Brothers will love us but other clans have a hard time accepting it.

>>28567501
Absolutely. It's a matter of waiting for passive stat boosts to do the job over time or running another combat focused heroquest. Like Humakt the Champion, maybe.

The thralls are in a really bad mood, Shaken is the second lowest. We might consider forgoing raiding this year in favor of using the Morale ritual during Dark season.

Give me actions for Earth season. Exploration, trading, sacrificing, whatever.

>>28569116
Because our ancestors welcomed the Nalda Bin as brothers.
>>
>>28569181
More exploration, and can we have a feast for the farmers or something? We got the food for that right?
>>
>>28569181

Why do we have so many hunters? Screw them.
>>
>>28569034
Owls. Definitely Owls.

And how hilarious would it be if we had the Jenestni completely encircled by our territory?
>>
So are we a tribe with all of the tribes north of the Lonisi?

We need Old Owl and Mule Deer to finalize it all.

Then we must REMOVE the Jenestri from the world.
>>
>>28569224
We were experimenting with it, I think, since we already had such a comically high food surplus.

>>
>>28569272
Go for the moral raising ritual. We want the farmers on our side.

Also after this, invite the old owls and the mule deer. SOON WE SHALL HAVE THE GREATEST CLAN! CONTROLLING ALL OF THE NORTHERN PASS!

NONE SHALL STAND BEFORE US!

Also we need to get rid of the Jenestri problem pronto.

Oh good, maybe the game will fix our morale problem naturally.

But seriously, we're going to have to end a feud or two and not go raiding this Dark season.
>>
>>28569291
I'm thinking promise to curtail raids.

Or hell, we can make peace with the staghearths. Do we even care anymore? The Jenestri will be the last raid we make in a long time I'm hoping.

That or we can try to gamble on the persuasion since our fearless leader is so confident.
>>
>>28569291
I recommend ending the one with the Jenestri, probably. They're the ones stuck in our tula after all.
>>
>>28569324
No, we get rid of them. No one who isn't part of the tribe or awesome undead killing badasses gets to stay in the north.
>>

Now the farmers (cottars and carls both) are discontented, instead of shaken. That's a two stage boost.

We now have a choice of morale boosting actions for Earth season. We can send an Emissary to another clan to end a feud--I'd suggest the Stag Hearths, since we no longer care about them--we can feast, or we can perform Chalana Arroy's Hope ritual.

Here's me starting this event chain over. Going to be a minute or two, but I'm back.

>>28570246
Agreeing to make peace with the trolls and allowing the taverns lead to events. The first is frustrating because trolls are a great source of bodies for Earthblood, and if they're not attacking you there's no benefit. The taverns lead to a split in the clan between men and women, with the women pointing out that the money spent in taverns is going to enrich the long-planning clan and no one else. Letting them build the tribal hall is no big deal, but letting them host the moot irks the other clans.

Long story short, the long planning clan is hard to like.

>>28570250

It's now Dark season. We are not raiding this year, our carls being sick of war, so instead give me in-tula actions to perform, like sacrificing. We still haven't run our heroquest for the year, we might do Lhankor Mhy for Elusu.

When are we going to drive out the Jenestri and claim the north as fully our own?

Clan magic for the year. You'll note that we have two new expenditures: Destiny and Heroism. Both are awesome.

Heroism increases the rate which your clan members stats go up over time. You can only spend one point in this.

Destiny improves the success of tribal events and your standing in the tribe. As we provided the tribal monarch, we can put in two points.

We get a third point to put into Quests; we'll only do two unless we want to do crazy things like two heroquests in the same year.

We'll also be learning Blast Earth this year. Please don't kill us, Maran Gor.

Hail, Heort-Son!
Humakt he was called,
Brother of the Thunder-God
Humakt he would be called
Wielder of the Sword, aye
The sword called Death!

Loyal he was to his Clan,

Loyal he was to his king,
For he was Humakt the Grim

Loyal he was to his King, aye
So loyal that he cut kin-ties
To spare his king, for Death he would be
And Death's duty is heinous.

-

TLDR: Option 3, because Death will do horrible things to the world that Orlanth, liege-lord of Humakt, would be responsible for by proxy.

Ultimate loyalty is cleaving those bonds, leaving Orlanth's honour unstained.

Hm, the ring suggests that feasting could be bad. We'll table that for later.

Dark season means that it's hard to leave the tula. Add the fact that we're trying not to raid to keep the farmers happy and we're stuck.

We might sacrifice to the Ancestors, haven't done that at all.

Agreed. Might give us better divinations?

Protection is the only Ancestor ritual you can enshrine. It offers protection from spirits sent against us and the ability to combat spirits elsewhere. Don't believe we'll have to enshrine this one though.

Divination is a particular ritual, performable by both Lhankor Mhy and the Ancestors. The Ancestors say things directly relevant to our tula, while Lhankor Mhy shares things about Dragon Pass.

It's now Storm season. We can send exploration teams and diplomatic or trade missions. Might be a good idea to contact other civs.

The benefits of having the ancient text clan in the tribe are starting to show. Our map has been expanded, and marked with the location of the Stinking Forest. What will we find? Baranthos will know before long.
