Previously:
A young rocket faced off against a friend that had since changed, his mother allowing a private audience. With strength failing, her eyes close upon his aloof visage.
Awakening in the hospital once again. The Ranger realizes that she really shouldn't have been so careless on taking that walk. Having forgotten something important, she continues on unaware.

Another friend is visited again at a lake from three months training. He bears out his concerns for the future and his thoughts to stray from the path as a defender. Fear pervades his mind from the green wood. A cold embrace is shared, his choice uncertain.

Visiting an old and eerie acquaintance with a fighter, the young rocket finds a new friend among the dead and gone. Yet this friend's concern lied in the fact that she was forbidden to leave her residence at the Lavender Spire.
The young rocket promises to visit this one again, another friend to cherish after all.

Her official training as a rocket begins.

First day of training you were introduced to the Rocket method, a mesh of training ranging from amphibious preparatory combat that you had been so used to. Over to weighted runs that the pewters would do that you were in fact not, and full body calisthenics that the veridian pride themselves on, with more to come in the future.
This was all to be the best though, and you couldn't bring yourself to fail.

Kitty told everyone from that day that training would be hard, and that you'd all be given chances and the assistance you all need to improve. However all recruits are allowed to drop the Rocket program at any time to return to standard ranger training should it prove too difficult.

Bruise of course, was unphased. Goldenrod though? He appeared a little worried, though he hid it well.

Between the other recruits, you could tell who had been there longer.

Devon could keep up with the training like a pro, not as well as Kitty as she went through everything with you, but well enough to stand out. He'd give you a nasty look, a smug smirk.
Yet despite that, he began to give you tips and pointers here and there, an upperclassmen to a lowerclassmen you guessed.

Jeremy was the other one that you could tell had been here longer, though only by a margin as he seemed to be in pain so often. Whenever you looked at him though, you got a little reminder of Oliver, your dead friend.
This one didn't speak very much, though when he did, it was often to complain about his throbbing headache during training.
Kitty never paid him much mind, as when the others complained, she'd threaten that they should quit now, because it only gets harder.

You never complained.
Grumpy did.

>>28458929
You should stop being a tease and post the Glorious montage now.

grumpy cannot into calisthenics.

We should suggest to him that he try cheating and moving his body with his powers.
Alakazammode
>>
>>28459178
It's green, I was just too lazy to color that one in. Most everything I try to color ends up looking even worse.
>>
It started with being told that he's required to run without his powers, reminding you of the cross-training obstacle course. He scowled at that, of course, light and weak as he is.
You tried to give him some words of encouragement, that he'd get better, that he'd be able to get through this with you and Bruise.
Yet he just looked at you, saying,”What do you know? Repulsive fish.” As always, his words did sting, but not as much as him avoiding you did.

For the first month, he'd also change his place during runs to be away from you.
In the second. As he began to fall behind in the evaluations he stopped speaking to you entirely.
And as soon as noon hit, sure as anything, he'd be gone for elsewhere, alone.
Of course, you would've tagged along, had it not been him teleporting away.

Bruise worried about him too, yet he had his own issue, determined to become a full fledged rocket.
While he knocked out physical challenges one after the other, he faced challenge with resistance training. When it came to withstanding the elements, Bruise realized just how far he would have to go to correct his fatal flaw. For as much as great his physical feats amounted to, he struggled against this, often passing out, or being forced to bow out during the sessions and spars.

As part of a rocket's training, as Kitty explained, you were to become an all rounder, capable of dealing with nearly any situation with our without the help of your team. While gym members specialize and optimize their techniques, Rockets are expected to achieve such expertise and carry it into all areas.
They could not be bound by their limits.

Neither would Bruise. Over time, through sheer grit, he would push through the exercises and chipped away at his weakness with resolution. You and Kenn were there every step of the way for him.
The bird-ranger sympathizing as he bore with the same difficulty.
>>
>>28459088
I thought Cerulean had green eyes? Of course, seeing as how her eyes had been replaced with the Crytten's......

>>28459193
Green hair on yellow fuzz? Seems kind of a wonky color combination.

I was just asking if his hair color had changed because of his implant, though.
>>
As days turned to weeks, and weeks to months, in your training, you visited Fuschia gym to train with Janine, to round yourself off as Kitty had said.

The kunoichi, as Koga's granddaughter, assisted you directly, her every move practiced and planned from her walk, her expression, her bowed, and even her tone. She's a completely different person upon her clan grounds.
Welcoming you everyday in an entirely too formal manner, you began to reciprocate her gestures out of respect as you discipline yourself, learning their ways and their art of close quarter combat.

The lessons baffle you at first with how they misdirect, redirect, and get in so close while seeming so far.

Leader Koga, or in this case, Master Koga, watches over the two of you. His hidden face reveals nothing, and Janine seems to detect your concern.

>Achieved Close Quarter Combat: rank 2

>>
So, as I see it, Grumpy is distancing himself from Ceru because he is afraid that Ceru's presence will hurt his training.

Hurting his training would of course make him a threat to himself and others, including Ceru. Could he be doing that to protect us?
>>
>>28459306
Prof rolled a 51 for GoldenRod. he then asked us to help him out with a set of rolls. we critfailed, Prof didn't.

>>
>>28459328
Ahhhh.... the psychology of child soldiers.
>>
>>28459328
I think his feelings would be more complex than that. He has stated that he's been jealous of us in the past, he's got an inferiority complex, and, yes, he's mom has been drilling it into his head that his powers are dangerous so he may be distancing himself as well because of that. People can have more than one reason for doing what they do and they can have all sorts of conflicting feelings about it too.

>>
>>28459371
I am looking at the Archive right now. The professor rolled for Goldy first, he rolled a 51.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28385124/#p28394432

I don't know if our critfail overwrites his roll, but it may not have and it may just affect his attitude and not his training.
>>
>>28459360
In that case, there is only one option possible: hugs, lots of them.
>>
>>28459399
It overwrote his roll.

Bruise also critfailed and he burned off a point of his MASSIVE tenacity stat to make it go away.

Goldie had too close to 0 tenacity to erase his.
>>
>>28459399
Because it was average, he had other people roll dice for Goldie too.

It was not a supplement, but a replacement for his roll.
>>
So do you guys think that upon Dewgong evolution our blubber will become thick enough for it too keep all of our cold inside and not hove freezing hugs anymore?
>>
>>28459425

Reading comprehension, anon.
>Bruise also critfailed and he burned off a point of his MASSIVE tenacity stat to make it go away.
>a point
>>
>>28459432
I'm hoping that is possible even before our fat gets even thicker. The Crytten hide literally says it keeps cold in.

The problem is we don't have much control, we have the Freezer Array and that makes us cold on the outside, but once we learn enough control we should be able to stop outputting cold.

It might not be a particularly warm hug, but at least it will be temperature neutral and will warm them up slowly since our fur should insulate them from losing heat.
>>
>>28459432
Glaceon and Vaporeon will solve all problems. Thermocontrol and phase shifting, no fucks will ever be given again. until Mable or Sanna decide to spar
>>
>>28459468
Yes.
>>
>>28459468
If we're temperature neutral, than our hug would be warm just because of the amount of fur, I think. Wouldn't be as warm if we could share our heat, though. But it'd be like getting covered with a thick, plush blanket.
>>
>>28459477
If we survive the surgery.

Still leaning Shelder next.
>>
>>28459468
It's a premature freezer array.

Premature in pokemon generally means that it's weak and lacks control. Like Pichu's electric cheek sacs.

Evolving Crytten should solve our problems.
>>
>>28459468
Come to think of it I remember that there is an ice type pokemon that can raise it's body temperture.
>>
>>28459495
Cerulean just sounds so soft.....
>>
Honestly I want to give warm hugs again Alexis falling asleep on Ceru was beyond cute

>>28459477
In order to get those two we need to find evolution stones first.
>>
>>28459523
Prof said Eevee are reactive enough to evolve from the elements present already in our biology.
>>
>>28459477
Cyrogonal is better than both them
>>
>>28459513
Is it in Kanto or Johto? No? then for get about it.

>>28459523
no we don't, Prof said a tenacity burn could get us those since we are already water/ice. But lets wait until we armor up.
>>
>>28459498
The surgery is not the problem. Prof confirmed that the Eevee surgery itself is not anymore dangerous than other surgeries.

It's what comes after, the trying to get an evolution that doesn't push your type limit and kill you, that's dangerous.
>>
>>28459541
too bad it's all the way in Unova, huh?
>>
>>28459495
That's what I said, temperature neutral, but it will warm them up because it's an insulator. Blankets don't immediately warm people up, it takes a bit to get working.

>>28459521
She is the softest and the fuzziest. She even has a fluffy tail and fuzzy ears.

We need to learn control so we can start giving out hugs again, and have someone scritch behind our ears and pet fluffy tail.

Fuschia Minisode
=======

The training grounds of fuschia feel timeless, with the gym bearing a distinct old-fashioned look, much unlike the appearance of Cerulean's gym.

The students here are often dutiful and disciplined rather than playful like your own. It's amazed you just how different each gym is from quarter to quarter.

Aside from Koga's seldom supervision, and the jealous glances of other trainees, you've trained with Janine religiously, and by Arceus has it made a difference.

You've noticed that Janine seems to have a new part to her, with her using silken threads produced from her hands and fingers.

Today however, Koga's invited you to tea with his other prospective students.

You garb yourself in a gifted silken kimono lent to you, and escorted by Janine through the wooden halls of the Koga, you pass through a paper door as a tea ceremony has begun. A few non-ranger women pouring tea for Master Koga as he still wears his mask and ranger garb, though a far more formal version of it. Would you ever see his face?

"Welcome to my humble home. Come, sit. You shall be served tea as you like." His voice comes out with a slight hiss, sounding like something less human than you'd like.

Taking your seat, Janine sits next to you, the other couple of rangers there with you.

"My students, introduce yourselves,"Koga utters as he picks up a cup of tea, pulling down his mask slightly to sip at the cup. You make note that even his fingers are gloved, and his arms wrapped.

The first boy respectfully bows to you, one hand clasped over a fist. Power and control as you have learned," My name is Talse. Pleased to meet you."
As you bow back to your peer, you take notice of his ears, purple, and slight barbs protruding from his skin along with whiskers and a deadly horn upon the hand covering the fist.
"Cerulean, it's nice to meet you Talse."
"All mine," he smiles.

The other boy's vision lingers upon Janine, in her kimono before the Master clears his throat, snapping him to attention.
"My apologies," He bows," My name is Haru. Pleased to, ah, meet you."

Another return and you glance at Janine a moment as she leers at the boy," Pleased to meet you too." This one bears bat-like ears that you've seen on some other rangers, Zubat. He's good at hearing then, the other is a nidoran or nidorino.

Poison types. Natural for Fuschia.

Master Koga sets his cup down to speak, carrying that same inhuman reverberation to his voice,"I have invited you hear as you have been training with my Granddaughter so fervently. It is interesting indeed. You are the one that passed the wood with her, as I have been told." He looks to Janine, whom bows her head respectfully at his attention.
"I had hoped to ascertain your character, what sort of a person you are, or will be in the future. I am getting on in the years, and I must know that Janine has reliable comrades."

In your time training here, you've learned the kind of respect expected of you here, and you bow your head slightly, listening intently to his every word.

"You see, I find myself troubled as I grow older every year. Janine is young and aspiring, the last of the main-branch family aside from myself as we've suffered one unfortunate circumstance after another."He pauses, letting that word stay in the air.
He finally sighs,"It is such that I fear for her safety."

He gestures to the two boys," These are the most skilled young men from the sub-branches of our family. I do not expect you to know exactly what that means, however it does mean that Janine must someday wed one of them for our future."

He sips his tea, still holding the floor," As an outsider, yet friend to her, your advice must bear some degree on her. I am too old to make decisions for my sole heir. I leave it up to her.

Could I count upon you, as a friend to her?" His eyes rest upon you, as he sips at his tea, a pair of mandibles peeking out to embrace it.

That's how long the montage is, yes. How do you know at what point of the montage this interlude is happening in? We've only acquired Rank 2 of Fuchsia CQC training and Rank 1 of Thrown Weapons training. "Oh, o-of course sir." You bow your head politely," Janine is a dear friend of mine, and with all the help your gym has given me, I certainly could not refuse."
Tea is set before you, and you give it a brisk chill before sipping it.

Koga's expressionless face bows his head, his flanged voice bearing some modicum of approval," It is good to hear. We have enjoyed having you here as well."
Slowly, he rises, standing dignified,"I am honored that you would hear this old man's request. I will excuse myself, please enjoy your time here. I apologize that I must leave so soon as a host. If you have need of anything more, please ask Renya and Shao." He gestures to the two serving women who have brought themselves to the corners of the room.

As he leaves, you give Janine a smile, though she wears a small frown," Sorry to have gotten you involved in this." She whispers to you.

Your ears twitch and your tail flicks slightly," It's alright, I'm happy to help you Janine, you know that."

She grips at her own Kimono with her apprehension,' Yeah.. Thank you."

I'm mostly interested in how far you're taking the EX list. Are monster hunter creatures going to be just as common as pokemon? Or are they just considered to live in a different region, etc.

in terms of vanilla pokemon, we should add in the domesticated ones used for the development of the cities once you've finished worldbuilding them in. Food sources, water purifiers, medical equipment/medicine, excavation, pets, etc.

I'm assuming most of the evolved forms are unknown, so we might be able to get away with potentially dangerous pokemon simply because nobody knows yet.

To some degree. Inserting more OCs for surprises or to throw a wrench in plans.
I am considering that they are more common on and around the orange islands however, which are many.

I'm fine with OC pokemon, so long as they don't live in Kanto/Johto/Sinnoh/Hoenn.

Like all those regions are relatively minor portions of Japan, and yet they have a considerable variance in the types of pokemon that live in each area.

You sip at your tea, and while Janine is unusually reserved here, you feel more in control of this situation. Whether it be the bout of confidence Koga has bestowed upon you, or your glorious training as a rocket.

"So.. Haru, and Talse, right? Why you two? What do you have to offer Janine?"
You smile with a sort of purr to your lips, Talse stares on, while Haru's eyes linger on Janine again. The young lady in question bears a complexion of stone as she regains composure.

"You first." You point to Haru as Talse begins to speak, and take another sip of your icy tea. The boy nods and begins.

"Well, I am Haru. I come from clan Tsukiyome, I honestly didn't know why Master Koga called me here until just a bit ago. Umm.." He scratches his head," I am still in training, getting close to taking the Veridian wood test.
I'm a decent ranger, I think. But nowhere near Lady Janine's level. I've been told I'm good at Recon, but, well, that's about it." His eyes fall back upon Janine, until he looks down at his own tea, and sips the warm amber fluid.

"Your turn." You sip down the rest of your tea and point to Talse, as Janine calls Shao for a refill.

The Nidoran ranger pulls at his collar,"I am Talse, of clan Soragakure. We are a leading clan of toxicology. We research poisons, of all sorts from delaying activation time, eating away at flesh, paralysis, and more. I am honored to be considered for Lady Janine's betrothal. I only hope I am selected to bring honor to my clan."

You sip at your refilled tea, and give him a slight nod," And what about you?" A simple question, most of that stuff he said doesn't matter to you after all.

He seems to pause at that, thinking on it," I am a poor example of my family, preferring the art of close combat over poisons." He shrugs," I guess it just seems more honest and fitting of a ranger."

>You've gotten to know the gist of them. Who would you advise Janine to marry in the future? The final decision need not be made now.

Goldenrod's ability as a psychic flourished over the past year. Growing more powerful everyday, he seemed to be more occupied with refining his abilities as an esper rather than pursue his Rocket career.
This habit began to rear its ugly head as time and time again he came in last for runs, weapons practice, application of tactical equipment(which never worked for him) and his brash nature kept him from admitting his fault.

Despite yours and Bruise's attempts to help him, he only withdrew further away, even going so far as to claim that the rockets may not be good enough for him.

This escalated to the point that he began to skip training to go elsewhere. Where, as always, you had little clue, yet this would not last for more than a few days.
Kitty eventually hunted him down to scold him. Even with his mounting attitude, the crazy cat lady could put the esper in his place.
___________________________________________

Kitty brings out Goldenrod, dragging him out by the ear, in pure panic mode as he seems to have lost his sense of reason, struggling and scratching at the hardy women, attempting to get away.
"Get off, please get off! You- You scare me! Get away! Please!" Goldenrod begs in his throes, unheard by Kitty.

You can see as he's brought before the lineup that there's blood on Kitty's claws and Goldenrod's face has been shredded up rather well. Your Rocket Trainer, undaunted by the slight horror upon your face or Bruise's Grimace.
Kenn seems a bit perturbed as a younger Ranger, though Devon grins a bit madly, the others try to mask over their expressions.
Mable notably shows no chance apart from the odd spark here and there.

"This maggot's come to the thinking that he's too good for the lot of us. Unforgivable as a trainee ranger, and a major insult to myself, as the trainer that's put you all through hell till now."
>>
>>28461479
God damn it Grumpy. Are we going to have to whoop your ass and then give you a hug?
>>
>>28461479
didn't you have this all typed up beforehand?
>>
"Let go!" Goldenrod scream again, pulling hard before a swat of Kitty's powerful tail has him reeling.

"I've brought him before you all, his peers. Your choice to make, will this ungrateful maggot be allowed to train with the rest of you again? Or will he be dumped back at his old gym? Choice is yours little cadets." Kitty's eyes are wide and waiting as she calmly drags about the struggling esper.

"Screw you, bit-" Another swat of Kitty's tail brings him to the ground, gasping.

"Make the choice little cadets," Kitty's eyes linger over you and Bruise before passing over to the others.

Goldenrod's been truant, ever complaining, and bullheaded. More-so than Bruise. You've heard how the others are getting fed up with him, and you know Devon has a chip for this sort of thing, often antagonizing you to get serious with him.
Mable's code of conduct would have her rid of Goldie, he's not a soldier.
Sanna, could likely care less, and the others? You're not sure what they might think either.

Speak up on his behalf. I know he's basically a child abuse victim and a product of his environment but few people in the Rockets are going to care, even people in the thread are giving up on him. In private we need to get him to get his shit together or he'll get thrown out no matter what we say, and deliver that message in some way that doesn't antagonize him.

Something like >>28461572 or >>28461592

>>
>>28461587
He didn't do this for the dome, I don't think. He did it because his mom made him and he'd do anything to make her proud of him. Or at least, would. Dunno how long that train of thought will last.

change that to

I say we propose a Sparring match. if he wins he can decide weather to stay or leave, if he loses we vote on it.

I think this would solve the problem of us being outvoted but also might kick his ass into gear for when we beat him.
>>
>>28461573
Actually, as of this post, it's currently 8 votes to 2. Not counting non-committal posts like
>>28461587

If we want to convince the others that he should stay, we can say that it was his decision to become a Rocket. And he has to be forced to live with that decision like a grown-up. He can't just drop this because he feels like it.

Soldier responsibility. It's totally within our character, since we're the formal type.

I would say for him to stay.

"He's an Esper, and a rather powerful one at that. Him being in the field with us could easily end up being the factor which keeps us from dying. He can deal with threats the rest of us would have difficulty even identifying.

You all know this to be true. While he may be difficult to deal with, we all know that his skillset could make him an excellent addition to any team sent out to the wilds.

However his behavior lately has been deplorable.

Goldenrod, you are not a Saffron Gym member, you are a Rocket, you made that decision, you took the oath, and you are going to live by it, even if I have to drag you kicking and screaming through this training. You've saved my life before, and I am going to help you whether you like it or not."

Give him a nice big smile.

"You are going to stop trying to avoid me, you are going to stop skipping out on training, you are going to stop complaining about training, we're all training just as hard.

If you want to walk away after all the bullshit you've put us through you can do that, after you beat me in a spar and prove that you don't need Rocket Training."
>>
Or we go with the classic "Let him stay and i'll make sure he gets in line" by putting our reputation on the line.

Dude have you learned nothing from Alexis?

We won't be able to beat Goldenrod unless we use Evil abilities, and you don't use Evil abilities on things you don't want to kill.
>>
I like the idea of challenging him to a duel to prove he's better off training on his own, specifically if he remembers the Alexis event, seeing him squirm facing that would be delicious, since he can't even explain why it would be a bad idea. (unless we've done regular duels since then and gotten accustomed to our new techniques)
>>
>>28461705

A good idea. Then we get angry with Golden Rod, we break what he's used to from us. We're always hugs and friendship and warm bigheartedness; time for Cerulean to go from cute Bernadette to angry exasperated disappointed voice. His head will spin so fast while we demand he step up that he'll get whiplash. We'll help him out with off hours training to catch up, and we'd do that anyway because "ELITE"
>>
>>28461516
He's not bad, but he doesn't take failure very well. As high and mighty as he acts, we know that he has serious self-confidence issues.

We need to get him to use his head, and I don't mean psychic powers. If he can learn to work smart, not hard, and refrain from antagonizing trainers/teamates, he should be just fine.

>>28461592
this can be a good way to get him to use his brain. If we can get him to listen to us, maybe he'll find a way to be halfway competent on his own.

Snarl is Dark, and it won't hurt him, just utterly fuck up his ability to keep a level head and use psychic powers effectively. Remember, he's in a bad state due to Kitty thrashing him about, add Snarl on top of that and he's toast psychically speaking.

Also, Feint Attacking into something like Water Gun or Icy Wind should be fine, as long as we don't Frost Breath or Crossroad Killing him I think we'll be alright.

>>28461814

We should make mention of him jumping on saying yes first. He obviously thought that the Rockets was the best choice for him. His opportunity. Tell him that he's better than this. He knew it would be hard and we that we know he can do it. Tell him that we're his friend and he should stop isolating himself away. Remember what we told him at the forest, that he's part of a team not. He doesn't have to be alone.

So I guess.

I know our mind was wiped but Sabrina was trying to teach us a lesson. I would say there should at least be a little lingering hesitation to use dark techniques on a friend after we killed one with them (she got better but, still) even if we were mind wiped. Also honestly I'm a bit tired of taking Grumpy's shit with a smile we really don't have to have infinite patience and despite having a sad back story he doesn't necessarily deserve us throwing away our reputation when he fails and I'm pretty sure he will.
>>
>>28461899
But do we really trust him enough to put our rep on the line just for him?

All this time he has been bitching and moaning and peforming poorly during training. He's not taking any of the training seriously and he's being an arrogant son of a bitch on top of that.

We would just waste time on him when we should focus on our own performance instead.

Well then we make him follow through.

We know Evil moves like Kitty does, and if we need to be a devil to keep our friend in line, then so be it.
>>
>>28462097
He's our friend, we do a lot for our friends. We intend on solving those problems. We plan on making him take it seriously, and popping that over-inflated ego of his.

I'm not saying to let him off easy, if he runs we track him down and drag him back, if he doesn't put full effort into things we keep on doing it until he does. He will screw up, and I'm fine with him screwing up as long he keeps trying and keeps learning, it's when he doesn't put effort into it that we have problems.

Also, teaching other people is actually really good training in a lot of ways, it forces you to really understand the basics and the underpinnings of whatever you're teaching.

You step forward from the line. Your face a sheet of ice as you look upon your friend cooly and calmly, glancing back to the faces of the others as you compose yourself.
"He's an Esper, and a strong one. He's saved me before in the field, the reason that I'm standing here now. He can deal with threats the rest of us would have difficulty even identifying." You take a deep breath, a cold sweat dotting your fur from apprehension.
He's stubborn, and cowardly, but claims to be too good for us. He's had it rough, and we have too, even if he's been a brat to us lately."

Kitty looks upon you with half-lidded eyes, an intrigued smile. You look to your friend as he bleeds upon the ground, looking up just enough to listen to you, and you see his scowl.
"Goldenrod, you are not a Saffron anymore, you are a Rocket, you decided that before Bruise, before me." He bites his lip at that, yet says nothing. He doesn't look you in the eye.
You approach the whimpering Esper, as Kitty lets go of him, letting you have at him. Kneeling beside you friend, you place a hand upon his shoulder, careful of your claws,"You chose to be here, and I want you to stay even if I have to drag you kicking and screaming. You've saved my life before, and I am going to help you whether you like it or not."
You give him a nice big smile, showing your pearly white fangs, and he looks up to you, tearing up.

Balling up a claw carefully, you sock him right in the jaw, sending him back in the dirt.
Shaking off your fist, you rise as he begins to whimper and curse, you bear down on him again and put your claws through his collar to lift him up," You're my friend. I told you that, you are going to stop avoiding me, stop skipping training, and stop complaining about training. We're all trying really hard, and you just make this even harder on us Goldie!" You finish yelling as tears begin to break into your eyes. He stays quiet, though resigns in your grip.

You use your considerable strength to lift him up, and let him stand as you go back into line, glaring at the other cadets," If it's not good enough for the rest of you, tell him to get lost. Otherwise, you should make him prove that he's better than us."

The expressions turn solemn, even Devon's grin turns into a bit of a frown,"Wordy fish." He mumbles, his canine teeth breaching as he speaks. "I guess the Saffron trash can stay so the Ice Queen has something to keep her busy."

A glare cast upon Devon is returned by his own snarl. Other Cadets seem a bit conflicted on the whole deal.

"The Saffron should be removed, he has not respected us." Mable speaks up," Though it is the responsibility of our leader to fix him. I have no opinion." The sheep-girl salutes, a spark cast as she pulls a hand away from her brow.

Others speak amongst themselves, though Bruise stays silent, the consensus between them seems to be that he should stay, though a couple may have agreed begrudgingly.

Kitty glowers down upon Goldenrod," They all say you stay. Finally, it comes down to you. Will you waste your frosty friend's words, Goldielocks?"

"She hit me..." The Esper mumbles aloud with a little smile forming on his face.
Kitty raises a brow.

Goldenrod giggles a little madly as his eyes remain on you," She hit me."
He looks at the blood on his hands from Kitty's scratches, going quiet.

"I'll try. Even if it's just to show you all how strong I am." Goldenrod seems to regain his sense of calm, and with a wave of his hand, his wounds are gone, though as soon as Kitty's glare falls back upon him, you can feel his nervousness mount from where you stand.
He looks back down at the ground again," And sorry, everyone."

Which is an important distinction to make, but we are still taking that role.

that isn't lavander.

And we should really inform Giovanni that there is a strong medium in Lavander Spire that wants to become a ranger. just inform him, because i am sure that sort of thing would be interesting to a mastermind such as him. and it may end up with her becoming the first medium ranger other than agatha
>>
>>28462635
We forgot what happened to her.

We could hypothetically visit her in our downtime, but the same would be true for those over at the Celadon Gym.

Due to our decisions in the past, we've already shown that Cerulean can ignore her friends when she's getting into her training. So the chances of us visiting Alexis for fun when we don't have a preset reason to (such as with Lilac) are low.

>>
>>28462717
She never really struck me as being scatterbrained, though. She's got this cutesy girl act, which makes her look unorthodox, but she seems very reliable and, her mannerisms aside, professional.
>>
You visited Lilac at least once a week over the year, Lavender spire began to grow on you, and you managed to keep dragging Bruise there now and again, despite your mutual fatigue from training.

The Mikos upon the first floor never stop regarding you as “Visitor, ”despite how often you visit. Asking Lilac about that, she explained to you, as a “friend” that they are always to address people in that way. They give no name to the living that visit the deceased as it keeps the spirits that gather there less likely to try leaving.
Bruise asked about the two of you, and Lilac just kind of smiled at that,”I'll take care of it.” She said.

That had you a bit worried.

Every visit, You'd tell Lilac of training, and the outside world, all the crazy things you're going through, and in turn, she'd tell you of the people she meets, or rather those that she channels.

Eventually, she ran out of things to talk about, and she just kind of listened to your stories with rapt attention.

Not wanting her to feel left out, you tried to ask about something else, inquiring about Lady Agatha, the unseen Elite that resides upon the top of the Lavender Spire.
________________________

"Lady Agatha, she is an amazing woman."

Bruise sighs, relaxing more than he usually does in this place," Yeah, okay, so. What's so great about her? Can she do anything like that... thing you did before?"

Lilac giggles madly at that, her amber eyes locked upon him as she makes a coy gesture with her haori," Oh that's silly, of course she can do much more incredible things!"

"I've heard that she ate a lot of ghosts a long time ago.." You add in, focusing Lilac's attention upon you.
>>
>>28462756
Well we should tell Kitty to tell Giovanni. and then next time we see Giovanni we should ask him if he has seen about hetting lilac into the ranger program
>>
>>28462668
At that point it just becomes a practical demonstration.

"And we see that if we twist his elbow like... THIS!"
Goldie screams. We're taking notes.
C: "When Goldie is a jerk, I frost his room down so he's uncomfortable all night long."
S: "Aha, reminds me of when I used to make him sleep outside."

... this got a little dark.

Lilac nods with an endearing smile," Yes, yes, that story is true." Lilac raises her index finger, one eye closed as she tries to remember.
"Ten thousand and eighty Evil spirits that once plagued people of the Lavender Spire and church. " Lilac opens her eyes and smiles wide, her ghostly white teeth bared.
"That was around a thousand years ago."

"What." Bruise leans forward, staring Lilac in the eye, searching for truth amidst his utter disbelief," You serious? That's not right. People don't just live for a millennium."

Lilac seems a bit confused, her mouth drooping slightly as she leans over to meet him, a small smile cresting upon her lips to carry a whisper," Yes, nobody lives that long."

The light of the candles vanishes suddenly, leaving the chamber in darkness, though an ethereal glow remains upon the flowery incense that permeates this place.

You hear Bruise scream in the dark.
"C-c-cerulean!"

Your eyes begin to adjust, but it's too dark to see anything very well, this dark preceded only by Lilac's ominous word.

"Now, now. No need to go out. Come back on, come on." Lilac's voice rings through the darkness as you see glowing spots gather about her, dull visages that must be a trick of your eye as the dimly lit medium bids the orbs back to the walls and chandelier.

As the light comes back on, you find that Bruise is in Lilac's arms, you're honestly surprised that the medium's holding him aloft, yet she smiles to the teen," My, my, how forward. Isn't this something that couples do?"

Bruise scrambles away, falling to the floor with a thud," G-get away."
At this point, you can't tell whether he's scared or embarrassed...

I'm hoping we can still recognize hierarchy and chain of command. Think of it as a pack, Giovanni is in charge, below him are the actual Rocket Rangers, and below them is us. Everything outside of it is fair game, especially the stupid civilians who don't understand that we're protecting them.

I'm thinking that we'll be extremely possessive and protective of our "things", that can include people. We aren't going to mistreat them, we just don't want them to leave, and we will murder the shit out of anyone or anything that tries to seriously hurt them.

we've got big clusters of nerves in our guts that surround the digestive organs. They help with some things involving time and digestion and spatial awareness. The spine is mostly for moving nerve signals, but is important too and I'd suggest keeping it.

You giggle a bit at Bruise's unusual behavior, getting up to lend him a careful hand," She's right though, and interesting that you'd jump to her when the light go out."

Bruise gives a low growl," I thought, well.. I thought it was you, 'course it was wrong, and-"

Lilac's grim expression lingers upon Bruise as he tries to save face, a slight blush taking her features as she waves a hand at him coyly," Now, if you were interested, all you'd need to do is ask. Though I'm not sure if I'd know the right way to go about this sort of thing..."

Bruise throws a hand into his face, his skin darkening as heshakes his head,"No, no, I-"

"Bruise, it's all right, if you were scared I would've protected you from... From.." Your thoughts drift back to what you had seen in the dark," Lilac, were those?"

"Ah, you saw them?" Ignoring Bruise, she looks to the candles about the room," Yes, they're all spirits. They light the way for others, it's why those that die here in Kanto gather here as ghosts. Those too far however, they are not so fortunate as to find their way."

"There are... There are a lot." You shiver, realizing now why all these candles never burn out.

Lilac nods, quietly looking about the chamber," They are not people though.. Something else. Something other.. Though I should speak to you of that another time, it is late, and I have my duties to attend."

Bidding your odd friend farewell, you leave the spire, eying each one of the candles as you do so, seeing each one in a very new light.

[Resume]

A year passed with your performance coming out as the highest among your squad time and time again, drawing the attention of your “upperclassmen.”

Devon, the Houndoom Ranger from Cinnabar acknowledged you as a rival, and while you didn't quite know what to expect, every time you seem to be doing well, he pushes himself to match up right alongside you, though with your modest nature, he starts to do everything in his power to get you to lose your literal cool.
Though with your monsters' respective inherent ablities, the two of you did get a bit of tutoring in how to make the most of using evil techniques. While fearful of them at first, you soon learn just how easy it is to slip into a state of empty malice and lash out at your target.
Devon however, seems to enjoy slipping into a rage and incinerates his target with his burner sacks. The target dummies always need to get replaced after he has his way, and it takes even more for him to calm down.

Kitty prevented the two of you from sparring for a reason, though you felt that he was always itching to have a go at you.

You became rather close friends with Mable despite her military decorum when in training. Come time for lunch, she was actually pretty easy to get along with, flipping it all off like a switch. Yet whenever someone brought up training or technique theory, she'd always jump right back into her usual manner.

She warned against hugging her at a point, yet you didn't listen, and received quite a nasty shock. Mable helped you up with a hand, feeling strange and almost stretchy.

Apologizing for the shock, she explained to you with rigid posture on how her body tends to get highly charged. Too much of a touch, and it just jumps out.
She's nice though, and it seems that you both have somewhat of a problem with not being able to touch people.

There's some solace in that.

__

Sanna, your senior rocketeer from Celadon, was clearly unlike the others. You found during training that she bears a staryu much like Aqua, only she doesn't really rely on it as much as him.

From her practice, you see that she's capable of using her vines to mark even stones, a feat that actually impresses Bruise.
Every time she loses a vine, it's replaced, and she actually uses that fact during live-capture practice.

A released pidgey is quickly bound by her vines and then detached, leaving the entangling implements to squeeze and constrict upon the thing while the lost tendrils replicate at an amazing rate. Her capture is finished off by the vines remotely releasing a paralyctic and sleeping powder.

Despite your frequent and steady successes here, she tops you in every single way for live capture, and a shady smile shows that she knows it, this is her forte.

Hmm, we'd actually have a damn good chance against him. He is Fire/Dark, so he's weak to our Water attacks, we take 1/2 from his Fire, and we are pretty solid in melee.

However, having two people who both use Dark attacks fighting each other seems like a bad idea, it'd be easy for either one of the two to go for a lethal blow.

Going off the distinctions made when talking about using Evil against Espers, I've been assuming that our Evil techniques were rooted in using Crytten's instincts to make vicious strikes. Moving with a sort of muscle memory.

Devon's seem more like the other type, where you're deliberately tapping into violent, sadistic emotions.

I think he'd want to see how we match up in a fight, and try to provoke us, only to be horribly surprised at what we're like in combat.

With our current set-up, I feel as if we resemble a hunter (from Monster Hunter) with the Kirin armor set on. I wonder if that was intentional?

YEAH, I KNOW RIGHT?

But even if Goldie doesn't end up with those kinds of grafts, I hope we meet a trainer with a Medicham template. I mean, it'd really fit. Medicham can disappear from the world at will because of their intense concentration, they have access to "aura" which is some sort of innate spiritual power that all beings have access to, and they also do yoga.

It's just too freaking perfect.

Everyone received a week and a half off training as the home-rangers prepared this year's test.

Like last year, seven teams, three farfetch'd, and at least one that would be required to fail.
You heard from Misty that Aqua decided not to quit.

Training with the Vermillion's he's become like a whole other ranger, tapping into the power of electricity to defend himself. He bears a military swagger now, much like Mable as you've come to know her, and carries himself with much more confidence.

Marine, as you've been told is leading a squad this year. She's been implanted with a mudfish and has been doing even better in her training with Cerulean gym and Pewter. The times that you met her at Cerulean, she had a new fin upon her head, jutting through her hair, and slimy skin aside from her shell armor.

You also hear Alexis is in on this too, participating again. Her head bald, and a star tattooed upon her forehead. You stand aside Giovanni as he addresses this year's recruits, receiving the honor of presenting yourself by his side.

It is you this time, that adds in the tid-bit about the swiftest recovery of the Farfetch'd will net you a dinner with Giovanni, as you follow him after Kitty.

Three days pass, and you find that Alexis's team is the one to come out on top.

Alexis of Saffron
Haru of Fuschia
Marine of Cerulean
Victor of Veridian

New rocket candidates... Within the wekk, all four of them have entered the lineup, Alexis gives you a passing glance as her expression is dead and worn.
Marine hugs you with her now oppressive strength, combined with her impressive shell armor. The rocket dorms feel so much more at home now.

You recognize Haru from the meeting with Janine, curious about his acceptance, and even he seems a bit nervous.

Victor though, he's not someone you've seen before. He bears an odd pale-blue skin with the bulge of premature armor growing upon his back. You haven't seen a ranger quite like this one. yet.

I say this because of grumpy. He has no natural Psychic talent. She puts him through tortuous training, breaks his wrists even, to try and force him to be able to bend the spoon. He fails, he then gains implants.
What does this say about Sabrina? It says at BEST she allowed him to defile his body with parts from monsters, something she has been stated to be against, and at WORST she forced him into said procedure, y'know her own child, simply because he was useless.
Sorry fo ther offtopic i wasnt here for that thread and just wanted to get that off my chest.

Back in the dorms, you give Marine the biggest Arc-damned hug that you can offer her. Your own strength easily dwarfed by hers as you feel your body give to your armored friend.
"I'm so glad you made it on the rockets! You're awesome Marine!" You begin to cry a bit, out of joy.
Marine too,"I know, it's like awesome we get to stay together again!"

"So, how'd the test go?"

Marine smiles, brushing a hand over her fluffy red ears, kind of embarassed,"Well, it was weird leading a team at first, especially with how different everyone is from quarter to quarter."

She looks out of your window, thinking to herself,"I figured out how they set the teams up though. I was the close combat. We had Haru as a scout, you looked like you met him before, Alexis was an esper attacker, and Victor well.. He's strong too. He worked better as an all rounder, and second close attacker."

Marine sighs a little bit," It was rough though, Beedrill, those stupid little nidorans from last time, we even ran into a pikachu! Victor took care of the rat, but it frazzled me a bit.
The rest's not all that interesting really. Having an esper is awesome for capture though, let me tell you. She had the thing sleeping when we walked up to it!"

You lay back on your bed, letting your hair spill over your sheets," I was the one that got the bird last year, it was really lucky though. Made me wonder if any of us should really be here, on the rockets anyway." You sit up, looking over to your friend with your feral smile," I'm glad I did though."
"The training's hard, and they'll work you hard, but you'll become great Marine, they make you amazing here. Just try hard okay?"

Marine smiles at that, flexing her knuckles in, letting her hardened shell armor grind against itself," You know me, just sounds like fun, right?"

You let yourself laugh out loud. Marine, that's Marine after all. the friend of yours that just doesn't quit.

It's good to have your old friend back beside you again..

It's the little gestures of affection that he does for Cerulean that makes the prospect of a relationship cute.
