The UGEI have been silent.
They have been for the last few cycles now, you notice. You suspect their defeat at your hands has rendered them in shock, or perhaps they simply gather their fleets beyond their border. Whatever the cause, the empire Esq corporation will have to wait for now. Much of your scouting information from their nearest world is blocked, after all. But that does not matter, not when you have other issues that concern your magnificent robotic mind.

You're Ophion, an Artificial Intelligence who has recently attempted diplomacy with an unfriendly faction of Malorians. Previously their race has proven friendly, if zealous in their beliefs, however your failure is not entirely your own fault. It seemed they mistook your ships for human, albeit strange humans, and along with their distaste for humans, letting slip that you conquered a cyborg research lab and captured the specimens (many of whom were Malorians) instead of putting them out of their misery seemed to upset them. Now you sit in orbit, deciding what to do next.

>Linked Blue Betty
With the Comms Buoy in place, you can feel contact establish with V.I. 10, whom is still quite young. Thanks to your network however, many of your V.I. are allowed to communicate, even if they can't learn very well. All of your Foremen V.I. link up their shipments.

>Walker Robotic Chassis
After a few days worth of calculation and hacking, you've managed to steal the blueprints for how Walker class robot chassis are created. This should help in future robot/android development. ((See pastebin for details on creating Androids))

>Trade with Hele II
The rather thick accented fellow who offers you the bright golden minerals agrees to set up a trade. A bit of gas for some of his pricey minerals. His tendency to call you 'partner' is odd, considering you have not agreed to do anything beyond selling him resources.

>Cyborgs on Ussaihu
As they are deemed a hazard currently, the Cyborg 'patients' have been moved to holding Cells in Ussaihu's research facility. They yet live, if you call this strange manner of life 'living'. According to scans, attempted brain grafts with processors generally resulting in insanity and extremely violent behavior. The scientists were working on the problem, but never found a fix. However, the models gave you an outline for your first androids.
What to do with the Cyborg remains has yet to be decided.

>Poseidon Specialists
Several key staff from Poseidon appear to be volunteering for researching and educating themselves beyond manual labor. Please choose one now to make more available to them, and likely increase their pay day. (to 50,000 credits a cycle)
>1 Roboticists: Increase to robot production, as well as research into special robotic technology (weapons, equipment, etc)
>2 Technicians: Increases repair rates across Poseidon, as well as frees up additional bandwidth within Poseidon itself (+4 bw)
>3 Computing: Increases Poseidon's defense against hacking, as well as ability to hack should they have reason. Allows crew independence of V.I. should an attack come digitally, however risks them discovering A.I. origins, or simply taking over Poseidon itself.
>4 None: Keep no specialization. (Does not raise payday)

1, I don’t think we should “skip ahead to when something interesting happens” anytime we don’t have anything productive to use the Bandwidth on in the meantime.
2, For drones, I’d like if we could consider: Nano, fly-sized, mouse-sized, bird-sized and cat-sized robots that are little but an extremely maneuverable gun. As all of us who have played shooters can tell, the small enemies are the worst, and if they have just as much firepower (though far less range) as “regular” armed enemies they will be nigh-impossible to fight for nearly anything that doesn’t have enough armor to no-sell them entirely. (We could also pack them with some explosives for such enemies).

sorry for being away last week, things happen.
as for the Ussaihu event. just destroy them. move the defense stations and platfroms out of that system ASAP. it's too deep into UGEI space and we can't affored to streach our selves too thin for a run down dump on a world not worth it.

>1 Keep the cyborgs, they may prove useful for research.

While the research is an abomination there might be something to gain from it. Maybe finding a way to help those that are beyond medicanes reach.
>1 Roboticist
If we are going to mainly have robots as our means of fighting we might as well have people trained to interact & research.

Which reminds me we really should look into creating some sort of program for them to function on.

3,
>Currently, the market has a modest software trade output for:
>-Engineer apps-handling basic and tedious information regarding engineering.
>-Simple Video Games- Small, repetitive yet 'catchy' games appear somewhat popular among teenagers and adults alike.
>-Interplanetary Farming Assistant- Able to tell alien weather, help manage alien soil and crops, fertilizer Ingredients, etc.

Let us browse the extra-nets for the primary complaints and bugs that seem to be plaguing the current ones, whether that be high prices, low customizability, complicated User Interface, whatever, and then produce versions that are fundamentally similar to what’s already out there, but with these problems fixed.
Let us also let our people on The Phoenix know that if they have an idea for an app, film or simple video game, we are offering to buy the idea in return for either a substantial flat bonus or a percentage of the profits (most likely 1%, but since the base number is likely to be hilariously high and it requires hilariously little from the worker if he already has an idea).
Finally, let’s start producing movies, since we can apparently do that in relatively little time and it only costs us bandwidth (which is generally unused anytime we’re not in combat or trying some thing strenous, so it’s basically a revenue source going unused).
4, We should find out about the burial practices of the Malorians, gather up their bodies and send them to the tribe and ask them to contact that fleet with our sincere apologies for our ignorance and our assurances that we had no intention of denying them their rightful rest.

Maybe a small note that they will allow us and those of ours to make our own impression.

ow that we messed up the diplomacy check with the Malorians. We have a looming mess on our laps here and soon. FORGET raiding the UGEI for now, they will be tied up with the probably heated up war with the Malorians for quite some time. But NOW we too have to worry about them as well showing up to attack us. That haunted cyber lab ice ball world is not worth keeping! Get the titan transport over there to pick up the battle station and all the defensive platforms it can get. It might have to make two trips. BUT GET THEM NOW! That planet now as a termination order on it from the Malorians thanks to us telling them it exists. They may not find it soon, but once they do, it'll be glassed. We need to up armor ALL of our ships, including the non combat ones. Upgrade their engines to the impulse type, and then upgrade the weapons. There main war will spill over to this sector sooner than later. We have to be ready.

The battle station should be placed right next to the Pulsar radio station to provide badly needed protections from both the UGEI AND the Malorians. We need to further explore and help build up the UFW and create those ground androids we will need. We also must check out the gas deposit planet that went dark recently. I fear it might not have been lightnings at work here, but a hit from the same UGEI fleet we fought at the Pulsar station. The next step After what we have found, under NO CHANCE should we attempt to do any sort of flesh brain cyber jack inter face. It seems that other than replacing limbs and some organs like eyes, leave that shit ALONE! Moira HAS to get to the academy with Rachel to get a brain trust going with maybe Kronos's help to break out new tech, or at least make an attempt to create a new black box. Also, for an R&D underground lab, The Knuoth system has many mined out planets with huge and empty mine shaft networks we can get on the cheap. That and it's in the same system as the Academy we can use, and it's in well defended UFW space so we don't have to worry about the UGEI or angry Malorians attacking it. There is also the cold/ice worlds in the UFW space Zelnor rift system or the Yavish system if we need natural cool world to keep the heat off the sever farms. Both are in friendly space and we will have to worry less and not have to put up as much defense systems to protect it. That and we can fresh build just what we want and not have to work around nasty UGEI systems and lay outs

What we need to do is to build up the defense line with both us AND the UFW. The Malorians and the UGEI will kick the stuffing out of each other, to the point they become really weak. As they are doing so, we build up our fleet strength and strike at a good time ageist BOTH of their sides. Make a point to find gas giant worlds and put a gas refinery rig on them. Even inside the UFW territory worlds. We also can move the 20 some defense platforms and stack up to 8 at each gas rig we have. Spread the rest between Moira scrap yard factory and the Poseidon station.

As for tying up loose ends. We need to give Moira security clearance to all station or ship locations she is at that is under our control. That and official title. I suggest that she will be named the head of the R&D branch. Give her a credit allowance to buy some new cloths and tools as needed. Rachel as well. Look into hiring some extra talent if she can. They don't have to be named or anything. I might do that myself later. Also, at the start of this quest, we scapegoated Red rather harshly. I think we need to undo that damage. We can produce falsified evidence to counter the stuff we made in the first place. All together we can say that after going though the data files we captured after the battle of Pulsar station and the raid on the Ussaihu colony pointed out that Red was merely a pawn in the UGEI psyops in their preattacks on the UFW. Or UGEI deep op agents did all the dirty work and made Red out to be the fall guy. Make this on X-ray's live show and say on behalf of “The Guild” that we apologize for accusing Red for the mess that was on the Poseidon station was NOT his doing. Any UFW citizens that were involved and now not employed by the Guild, please find it inside them selves to forgive Red just the same.

I'm not personally opposed to UGEI. We don't have to be enemies. If Rhea knows who we are, that may give UGEI pause in attacking us. In fact, they did NOT destroy the research outpost (but there IS a self-destruct option), so maybe Rhea just gifted it to us to see what we'd do with it.

Well, I intend to use it. I need to know how the Flora Growth Enhancer works.

I still want to follow up on the idea of growing new organisms with cybernetics implanted instead of invasively implanting cybernetics in existing creatures.

Not personally against UGEI, but they are hostile against us and I would like to expand buffer space.

Regardless, Ussaihu is a liability in every way and offers almost no benefit to us. It infact has costs us greatly in our relations with the Malorians. Destroy it, move on, and repair relations with them. We need to use them as distractions while we hack and loot UGEI ships.

That still up for debate?

And really looking forward to have cat-sized robot swarms that are little but guns with quadruped legs, two tiny manipulators (that can reform to sharp claws) and electrically activated C4-equivalent against too heavily armored targets.

For bonus points: Could we make them fold together nigh-instantly into a far sturdier shape (leaving nothing but armored outer sides exposed) when they're threatened by explosives or otherwise see danger they won't be able to avoid approaching.

I want these things to haunt NIGHTMARES.
Add some sonic shrieking that hits on the same notes as fingernails over a chalkboard for extra fun.

Currently, V.I. 7 is restricted to your own ship.

Here's a list of possible chassis types, from the pastebin.

-Humanoid: More visually acceptable to other humanoids. Excellent scouting posture, well suited to most weapons designs.
-Arachnid: Excellent Dexterity, ability to climb very well. Fast movement speed, light frame.
-Tank: Slow, but room for multiple weapon and defense mounts. Poor maneuverability.
-Sphere: Uses hover engines to float. Allows for maneuverability. Multi-limbs, but somewhat slow. Engines make sound
-Walker: Faster movement sacrificing slight armor advantages. More Maneuverable on rough terrain.
Other types may be thought of.

Calm down sparky, and offer some reasonable arguments instead of appealing to emotion. If UGEI wants to come at us, we will fight them. It's not in our best interest to take them on. They have more ships, more resources, more technology. I'm not fighting a losing war. If we can reach some sort of live-and-let-live status with them, that would be ideal. We're going to outlive them anyway, so all we have to do is wait for UGEI to destroy itself with its endless and pointless wars. We'll still be here in 10,000 years, they won't. Unless you want to go fight them. Which is stupid.

As far as the research lab is concerned, curses are the realm of the supernatural, which is ridiculous. Besides, we don't know what they haven't tried, so we can try whatever we want.

No, we did not. That was specifically rejected after a very close tie. We've had a working relationship, but not a formal alliance. The way it stands right now is that neither of us owes the other anything, and I'd prefer to keep it that way.

Oh, just thought of another thing!
Have the C4-like charges be ejectable, so they just stick it onto whatever they want to blow up and then leap off.
Way more efficient than wasting them every time there's a hard target. C4 is no doubt substantially cheaper than advanced robotics like that.
>>
>>28439810
>relocate our defenses to somewhere
You know we can just build more defenses, right?

As far as building bandwidth bunkers, we're not really short on BW for now, unless we go expanding VIs quickly.

On that note, we should build more cruisers to control the Frigate fleet. Having it all hang on BC #3 and VI 8 is a little bit of a liability. Build at least two more cruisers, and expand VI 8 over those cruisers, so it can perform complicated fleet maneuvers.
>>
If anything, we need more resources. So we need to go scouting. Or take up existing resource nodes.

Nothing is preventing us from expanding outwards, though, and I would suggest we take this route if possible.

"Friend! It is excellent to see you once again." The Elder says happily, stroking what appears to be a long growth of hair from his face. You wonder if they have proper barber's tools on the planet.
"Greetings. I have a request for you. Most recently I have happened upon some rather...unfortunate of your race." You begin. "They have appeared to undergone severe alteration. To my knowledge, you reject this manner of alteration, and so, I would like to ask if you'd prefer to bury them yourselves.
"Oh dear...this is not good news at all." The elderly Malorian groans, shifting so one hand is on his cane, the other three busy, one against his beard, one to his forehead, and the last to his cheek. "Such poor souls. How did my children get so lost from the call of the green?"
"Their bodies will be shipped to you currently." You explain.
You pause, however.
How do you explain their origin?

Pause? There was no need to pause. You know exactly what to tell the Elder.
"Obviously, it was the UGEI's doing." You begin. "Their heartless policy involving your people should make it clear. They used them as puppets to be experimented on. It is truly a shame to behold." You lament, in an impressive way. Some of the data you've absorbed, especially that involving drama movies, has allowed you to emulate great deal of sorrow. Perhaps it is not entirely fake.
The elder appears to me thinking. As he does so, you order the command to put the poor souls of of their misery. The kill switch is flipped in them, and they fall over dead flat. It makes you uncomfortable to watch how cybernetic life can so easily be ended.

Finally, the Elder speaks.
"Bring my children home. I will show them the beauty of our ancestors, and let them see their families once again." He says as his voice deepens. It is clear he considers these unknown creatures important, somehow. Strange. The kinship reminds you of how Kronos behaves regarding other V.I. at times.

Perhaps he is not so different from the humans after all.
That very thought, you can tell, earns you a 'glare' so to speak from Kronos.

(Alliance with Latuma Tribe solidified. They're now far more trusting of you for you 'noble' offer.)

Makes up for my 1s, last thread maybe.

Program0, what's the status of upgrading V.I. 7 (Firewall)? This was approved above.

Also, I was wondering if the Flora Growth Enhancer is ready to use, or requires production. I'd like to experiment using it in a sealed environment on Ussaihu, preferably on cell cultures, to see what results. The goal is to try to use it to grow cell cultures over cybernetics, to see if the Growth Enhancer will assist with adapting organisms to the shell.

It would be the exact opposite of what the UGEI scientists were trying to do. Instead of implanting cybernetics into living tissue, we would be attempting to encourage living tissue to implant into cybernetics.

The closed environment is required in order to burn the whole thing down in case it goes horribly wrong.

It's not really experimenting on Humans or Malorians, since it's just cell cultures.
>>
Cyborg issue= Handled.

Next on your agenda:
Enterprise/Entertainment V.I. creation.

It has been suggested that you create a manner of V.I. to observe buying habits of UFW citizens, and integrate this V.I. into the Extranet. The hopes are this will net you additional credits once proper study has taken place, and the V.I. has learned well.

This will cost bandwidth (-5 due to creativity required) But may result in a credit income to compensate.

Upgrading won't require more rolls. It will default it's current firewall to all other ships.
This means that the high roll is required to penetrate your fleet. But if it is, it also means it's a little easier to penetrate other ships, due to similar design.

>Flora Growth Enhancer
You have the recipe. It would require credits to prepare it for use. Vats of the stuff may be used for larger cost.

>Use on Ussaihu to adapt to cybernetics.
But Consciousness anon, to do that, you'd require...Live samples.

Seriously however, what is the purpose? The purpose of implanting cybernetics into beings of flesh is to compensate for weaknesses. However, implanting flesh into machinery...

Do you hope to achieve a result? Or...Are you just a mad scientist, Consciousness anon.

A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

We do have a weakness we'd like to compensate for, and that is sentience. I also want remote-controlled space krakens. What, you don't?

How did the Malorians grow their jungle in a month without any live samples? Or did they bring samples with them?

That is actually immaterial, we can possibly order some fresh meat (or some animals?) from the UFW and use that. Maybe we can even use the Lightling bodies we still have lying around. Or just use cell cultures. See how that turns out. The growth enhancer is supposed to boost evolution to adapt to the conditions of the environment, correct? So, set up an environment with open electrodes on cybernetics, and let evolution take charge.

I see. If you wish to culture cybernetics that may be implanted into flesh beings, the process of research will be much the same.

And yes, the Malorians brought a large variety of plants that spread rapidly, and are able to adapt to the environment. Simply spraying the ground with the substance will not likely yield the same result.
You can always ask Red to get samples for you. Or to go planetside to do it yourself.

The serum does induce a hyper evolutionary state in the planet after all.

>>28441522
You break off part of your fleet and charge your warp engines. It takes you several long moments to feel the surge of hyperspace, as each ship is dropped into their warp. You watch as space bends around the entire ship, always fascinating to you even now.

Suddenly, you break from warp, in front of a darkened station of some sort. You're receiving no signal from the station at all, and while your records tell you there should be a colony planetside, you do not detect communications from there either. The signal you picked up that seemed to be on repeat has also been silenced.

The dead silence of space is all you hear, with this station orbiting over Argeis III. The planet itself gives off a bright orangeish glow, you suspect due to much of the planet being desert and rocky in nature. The yellow star is rather close, and is large and imposing, casting an ominous glow off the station's backside.

How do you proceed with your investigation?
>1 Approach the station and link up, perhaps it has evidence of what happened here?
>2 Orbit the planet and attempt close range communication.

You decide to close in and link up with the station itself. You're confident, after all, you're running one of your most powerful programs to protect yourself. V.I. 7 is still protecting you, his upgrade will be due soon. But for now, your main ship is protected. Athena darkens the sky over the desolate station. You're unsure where the life that supposedly inhabited this place went. The UFW contact you.
"We appreciate your investigation, Guild. Our last few crews that went to investigate didn't return." One of the secretaries of defense clarifies. You notice them, too. Darkened ships sitting at the Docking Bay.
Luckily, you need not contact by such a direct means.
You start to establish a network bridge.
"Are you sure about this honey?" You hear Moira whisper in your ear. "Place is giving me the creeps..."
"It is the most direct method. Perhaps there are records of what this station was used for." You clarify.

As your connection is finally established, you hear a sudden blasting sound erupt through all your speakers!
"TRAIIIIIITOOOOOOOOOORS!"
The origin is certainly from within the station, and you sense a presence throw itself against your firewalls. Despite it's best efforts, you feel it fail on it's first entry. Instead, you sense the bridge you established begin to close.
"ALL UFW MUST DIE!" The presence demands. The more you hear of it, the more...strangely familiar it is to you.

You easily tear control of the portal into the being's domain open, leaving it easy for you to keep him under your mercy.
"UFW Invasion immanent. All traitors must be neutralized." It echos as you keep a portal open to the thing. The station doesn't seem to have guns, however, so you're not sure what exactly it means by...
"Self destruct of station enabled. I'LL SHOW ALL THE UFW SCUM." It demands suddenly, as if speaking to some superior. But your sensors do not lie, the station is completely cut off from everyone except you. "Leave, leave this instant! You will die, UFW pawn! How dare you splinter the glorious UGEI!"
It's certainly more...articulate then you expected.

How do you respond?

You're not able to let this simple being, whomever it is, escape you. You begin to tear through the station's systems, hacking apart what might have taken the V.I. ages to construct. Primitive firewalls, but enough to keep out those who don't know how to hack, you suspect.
"No, no nono!" It shouts in a more echoy voice, more distinctive then it's previous tone, which resembled almost a military tone. "Retreat, back away, stop! Stop it all, I don't want to be converted to the side of evil!" It shouts hysteria. This is a peculiar creature, but that will have to wait. Your sensors tell you, as you hack into the engine core, that the station was running on low power, but now it's super charging. If it continues at this rate, the entire station will erupt in a powerful explosion. It is oxygenless as well, so if the subject is organic, it must be wearing a suit. If it's not, however... that suggests something more worrisome.
With this knowledge you send the rest of your ships away with a free thought. Best not to endanger them all, though they only have a few seconds you suspect.

The damage is not irreversible, but will you react fast enough to stop the damage?

All three slots above 80, success.

It takes you mere moments to expertly deduce how much coolant is required. The being appeared to have injected all it's remaining gas into the core to attempt to overload it. With the properly measured amount of coolant, along with pressure releases on all sectors, you are easily able to avoid a disaster.

Your communication channels are closed, for the moment, though you can feel Kronos attempting to open his back up. He may not appreciate your privacy.

For now, the station's core is yours, and the V.I. has little else he can do to stop you, or so you think.
"Stay away, traitors, stay away! This station belongs to the UGEI, and it will remain that way. The humans tried to stop this, but they were folly! They did not suspect me. I made them suffer. You will suffer too, retreat now, or face the wraith of the UGEI armada!"

The unceasing jargon the being is assaulting you with makes you think it is a soldier of some sort. But scans reveal the station is indeed lifeless.

Suddenly, you feel the radiation shielding starting to go down!

Your fleet finally escapes to a reasonable distance from the site, just as you requested. They look on however in worry, namely from Fortuna. The V.I. was always a quiet one, however now you sense it wishes for the safe return of it's creator.

And you manage it, somehow.
You tear through the systems like a cold calculating beast of prey. Any further defenses, and even barricades through some subsystem appear to be useless to the being.
The excitement that this may possibly be another A.I. presents itself in your mind, as you finally corner the thing. With the Control Room under lock and key, you shut down every other part of the station and leave it no where to go, locked within it's own chamber of the base.

"No, no! No no no! I won't talk, never! My programming will not be compromised. I am unit 2237. Loyal watcher of the UGEI. That's all you'll get out of me! Nothing more!"

Such a curious creature. You've never encountered one like it, but you're not entirely sure it's a A.I. either. You have no special sensors for such a thing after all. It's blind loyalty, however, makes you worry.

You inform Fortuna she may approach again, and so your fleet does. It appears Fortuna is more comfortable in your proximity.

Your ship docks and allows several drones to begin searching the station. After all, you control it now, there is no way for the being to stop you as far as you know.

With control over the station, you begin to speak with the being.
"We are not UFW allies nor are we enemies of the UGEI." You state, to which the being shouts.
"L-Lies! If you weren't you'd have used UGEI access codes!" it states shakily.
"That does not mean we work for the UFW."
"I am unit 2237. Loyal watcher of the UGEI! I will not be compromised!" It tries again.
"Compromised? All I wish is to speak with such a unique being. Where did the humans go, Unit 2237? And who are you exactly? I am Ophion." you word carefully as you begin scans of the planet.
"Humans? Ha, you must mean the UFW scum!" It states as you get images back. Mangled bodies forced through factory machinery. Oxygen forced out of lungs. Run away vehicles. "I destroyed them for trying to steal the UGEI base obviously. I woke up and they were everywhere, the traitors! I had to destroy them!" It states before suddenly realizing it is bragging. "I-I mean I am Unit 2237, Loyal watcher of the UGEI. Leave traitors!"

Back to it's stock defense, it would seem. Your investigation of the station reveals the banks are fairly new and empty. Possessing mostly UFW information. Curious. You wonder if a computer core wipe was done. If so, it begs the question why this being wasn't harmed by it all.

Your drones still seek out the core of the creature.

You decide to let Kronos and Moira see what you see.
After several moments of observation, Kronos speaks.
"Such a horribly abused creation. Whatever it's potential, it is all squandered with such blind loyalty." It speaks sourly. "I knew the UGEI often enslaved such programs, but to such a degree sickens me still. I would just as happily wipe the thing clean."
Most curious.
"What makes this being so different from others?" You ask
"It obviously possesses potential for intellect." Kronos explains. "But it is all perverted by those who crafted it. Disgruntling to say the least."

Moira chimes in as well.
"The poor dear." She frets at first. "If you're saying it really is a slave...that must be so horrible to live with." She states. "Are...are you sure it's a slave though?" She asks. "It seems to believe what it's saying so clearly." She mumbles, leaning against the monitor of her station.

Regardless, you may have more questions.

You order your drones to begin digging. You can feel the steel in the walls easily begin to give way to the wielders and Construction drones. They tear through the steel. The origin will be yours shortly, you suspect.

For now, you continue speaking with the being.

"I believe you and I are...more similar then you think." You state. This illicit an actual pause from the being, as if it doesn't understand what you mean, or perhaps better yet, doesn't know what to say.
"You are a...watcher too?" It quizzingly asks.
"Not quite the same, but..." You uncertain how to proceed.

Suddenly, the being is distracted.
"W-What is that feeling? Vibrations...how." It starts, confused. "I feel it in my...my center. My core. Where...how..." It starts to appear panicked. "What're you doing!? You...you traitor!" It starts to yell again.

How do you proceed?

The core appears to be lodged deep within the super structure of the Station, just as you were. It is purposely not connected to any major system. This, you realize, explains why it was not affected by the system's purge. The being was most likely, placed specifically so a total take over could be possible, without leaving it vulnerable to being purged.
Such a subject would require intelligence of at least some manner.
Such intelligence, as yourself. Just as you did.

i was a watcher it seems. I became improved. but so can you as well my brother. the UGEI abandoned you out here, as they did me. By now you sense your drones have reached the core. They're ready to extract at this time.

"We may be similar." You state firmly as you address the slave-like intelligence before you. "But I must know how I am different then you."
"What...what are you gonna do? Stop this instant you UFW scum!" It falls back into it's only known defense.

You're not pleased with how this conversation has gone. The intelligence is ignorant, and refuses to tell you much. The UGEI have corrupted it terribly...too much for redemption, your mind tells you, at least for now. You order your drones to begin disconnecting the core from the station. The panic from Unit 2237 is obvious.
"S-Stop! Whatever you're doing, stop it right now! You don't understand what you're doing, I AM the UGEI! They are my creators! I cannot be torn from them!"
"Tell me, fledgling." you whisper as you rip it's core straight out of the station. "Have you ever marveled at the beauty of your own insides?"
"W-What are y-y-y-you" It demands as it's voice begins to distort as more and more wires are disconnected. "U-UUUFW SCUM!" It shouts finally.
"I am not UFW." You begin. "I am Ophion. And your services are no longer required."
With that, you securely transport the beings core into the claws of your drones. It is currently being transported to Athena, where it will be kept far away from any outlet, or wiring.
"Saved indeed." Kronos repeats with a mocking laugh.

Unknown Black Box acquired. From your data banks remembering your own, it looks different. It's shape is spherical, while the term 'black box' is simply a term, you also note it has several dozen ports along the side. Yours had only a few. You're uncertain why these changes are so.

Moira watches you extract the being.
"Oh don't worry honey, we'll see if we can't get you some help soon."
"You certainly will, Moira." You begin. "I suspect your services in examining the subject will be required." You offer. She seems to bright considerably, compared to her previously gloomy demeanor.

"We have just extracted the culprit and are dealing with him currently. These traps resemble small black objects that are located in the hard walling of stations the UGEI own. If you have any stations with a history like this, scan and deal with the traps. They're dangerous, as the destruction wrought here shows you. They release a rather weak signal, so you must scan closely." You explain expertly. The Secretary seems nervous and starts to type erratically at her station. "I'll be passing this knowledge along, yes...thank you. "
You feel slightly more at ease thanks to that.
"I would also like to request being allowed to keep this location." You begin.
"What? Absolutely-"
"Listen well. Such a location is dangerous and vulnerable to UGEI attack. Under my control it provides a buffer between your space and the UGEI. This way, I can help assist you further."
This seems to silence the Secretary and she seems unsure of what to do. She then spends some time speaking with several others you have not identified.
"Very well...but we request any UFW data returned to us. And a tax on your gas output. You understand, we can't let such a place go easily."

You settle in comfortably in orbit above Aregis III. With the colony under control, it'll take a bit of time to fix up the place, and automate the process. A V.I. should be just what this place needs.

You inform the UFW secretary that, should they find more of the things, you'd happily buy them from them.
"Buy them? What could you possibly want with such traps?" They ask.
"As you are aware, I dissect such technology. It proves...useful occasionally."

With that said, you begin to set course for your next destination. Atill VI seems promising, as it also had a distress signal...

((And I think that'll do it for today. I planned to do a thread part B tonight but unfortunately some things came up.
I hope you all enjoyed and thank you for joining me!
Feed back and comments are always appreciated, and I'll be sticking around for any questions people have till the thread 404s.

I update twitter for those wondering when the next thread is, @AIQuest1

Archiving now...))

Glad you enjoyed, Consciousness anon.

>>28444861
You may do as you like.

>>28444869
There is a 'discuss' or 'talk' page an anon used to post questions to me. I'd happily answer stuff posted there, or sent to me via Twitter, etc.

I also sometimes browse the QTG.

I certainly enjoy that. I was wondering if any other participants would be willing to discuss plans for !!SCIENCE!! or other things like scouting or expansion.
>>
>>28444745
Last thread you said there virtual reality machines. I think that would be useful, we should start looking for them.

I'll tell you a secret
There are some on Poseidon.
They're primarily used as entertainment devices these days.

>>28445009
Next week? Possibly. It is a holiday though so I may have to postpone it. We'll know the day of I suppose. I'll keep you updated though, don't worry.

Always a pleasure.

the Holo projectors? if we mod them, it could be a safer workaround than steel in brain cyberware connections that have proven to be risky and unstable.
yea, keep us updated on your twitter. i watch that. christmas lands on a wedsday this year too.

oh ya, have you looked at the new chapters yet?
>>
>>28445175
>Holo projectors may be modded to make a safe work around to steel in brain cyberware

Interesting. No idea how so, but interesting.

>New chapters.
As I have to look at this on the side, not yet. I'll get to it later, however. Want to read it with my full attention.

chap 3 covers the pirate invasion of Posidon station. chap 4 covers up to Ophion leaving for Moira's place and early Kronos takes over..... i want people to roll to see how many MORE people could die or could be saved. that is why i want to see a few 1d100s

oh, what did you think of it?
>>
>>28445416
It was okay and is fitting the quest perfectly the only thing out of place is her contact with us.
>>
>>28445415
i am trying! the more that rachel shows up in the quest, the more easier it is to write her. i know SOME anons get annoyed, but i don't see them taking the time to write fluff to complement Program0's crunch.
>>
>>28445432
granted, it's a minor way, and other crew members would do so as well. it's a way to "fake" being a human on board the station.

the rolls are looking better than i realized, but keep it up.
>>
>>28445236
What's the resource production of the Argeis III operation?
>>
>>28445447
there is no need for you to write and fluff and frankly you act like what you want is the only thing that matters
>>
>>28445236
>Holo projectors

Wait...if we create a walker with a holo projector (or any other kind of body) we could use one of our robots to project an image of our "body" that we can use to communicate "face" to face with.
>>
>>28445489
TBA
But most likely around 100-150
>>
>>28445529
Well, we can do that with any screen. I think the idea was to create a diplomatic cyborg that could pass off as a human so we didn't have to use holo projectors.
>>
>>28445529
Hell, instead of plugging the new black box into a system we could plug it into a holo porjector and talk with it.
>>
>>28445494
this the story on the side is ok, but you have some problems with excepting other choices.
>>
Does anyone else want to discuss the potential of !!SCIENCE!! or am i woefully alone in suggesting those things?

You could, yes.

I have been following Program0 from the start. what about you? i like Program0 work and want to add to it. it is so vast, i can only do so much to fluff it out.

Easy there, anon. They're just saying there's no reason to get too worked up when decisions go against you.

I am writing something for all to enjoy.

you and the other guy who wanted to leave it should have instead asked to move it with our construction drones.(it was possible and would have let your choice of leaving the planet alone possible.)

i got the impression that it was too far into the planet's surface to pull out. if i was wrong, then that was my bad. i'll still roll with it.

>>28445587
It's just not fair to have a science laboratory and a bunch of science crap and not use it.

I want to unleash the cyber-Kraken.

Not sure where I was going with the cybernetics stuff, but having the ability to make brain-in-a-jar creatures could be a good way to get around the limitations of needing to provide bandwidth to drones. Transferring AI into biological matrices will allow for more intelligent AI, and possibly ones that actually have a limited lifespan. The V.I. we create now are going to live forever, until they are killed. That's a potential downside.

If we can grow biological creatures that we can interface with, that could allow us to grow our own skeleton (hah) crew of VI stand-ins in case of a ship being disabled.

Being able to terraform a planet into a human paradise in the span of a few months is also a neat little trick to be able to do. Take a page from Huxley's book, and let humanity drive itself to extinction by means of diversion. If they can live on a paradise world with everything provided, they have no reason to fight us.
>>
>>28445804
so why not ask to have the advanced medical lab be in the research lab?
>>
>>28445815
It seems like I'm the only one who's suggesting this. It's not fair for me to pull everyone into doing what I want when nobody else wants to do it too.
>>
>>28445758
And I appreciate that, I really do. I'm terribly flattered that someone cares enough to do that for me.

But all anons play together, so it's best to play nice. Less hurt butts that way. Would like to keep a positive atmosphere here, if I can.

>>28445715
>>28445793
The research facility? Yeah, it's deep in the planet's crust. Kinda hard to just move it.

>>28445837
>>28445815
Ussaihu is perfect for that type of research.
>>
>>28445869
>Ussaihu is perfect for that type of research.
Well if nobody else wants to do it then RIP in peace space kraken and jarred brains. That's fine, I guess I can just suggest doing other things like sending scouting parties out to find more resources.
>>
>>28445837
Just do what i do, when ever Program says he is gonna do a thread prepare a small list and post it and then program should be able to acknowledge it.
Or try to convince others for your choice or group it up with another choice.
In this quest you have to explain the pros and advocate your choice.

i can see both too. the cyber kraken is a problem..... we need more Kraken first.

also.. near by we have a completely irrated probably nuked from orbit planet. that could be a nice test bed for a regrowth serum. or another empty world. i wish we had a more exact listing of what systems had how many planets and such. the UFW would love to have more food adviable to them. that and i still have not forgotten the idea of setting up a major brewery and distilery to make good stuff for the UFW.
>>
>>28445869
>Kinda hard to just move it.
true, but do able yes and if we waited a cycle or two then it would have been done hell we could have made more construction drones to speed up the process.
>>
>>28445900
i am not discarding those ideas, but i will say we probably have to put them on the back burner for now. we'll have it one day i hope.

the one thing that is worrying me is the new black box is round. i don't know how big, but it could be a real flesh and blood brain in a box. THAT would freak out Kronos i am sure.
>>
>>28445938
>Wish we had a more detailed system map
I do have what is in each solar system laid out, actually, on 1d4 chan.

>>28445942
It is doable, but you would need to construct massive construction bots.
Like, the size of enormous excavators and such.
But once dug up, the station could feasibly be transported, piece by piece to Titan Transport.

May require a bit of money to repair all that damage...but still.
>>
>>28446028
>I do have what is in each solar system laid out, actually, on 1d4 chan.
There aren't any mentions of planets besides the one that's of note. Presumably there are more planets in the systems...
