Last time on EDEN City Blues,
You are Sergeant Warrick Locke d’Angelo, MC1309018, on indefinite medical leave from UNAAF and today is the worst day of the month. As a mandatory part of the draft, you were given a neural implant to interface with communications. Yours doesn’t work properly, and the powers that be decided you make a better case study than a soldier. They gave you an apartment up in Beta, which you now share with an old friend, welfare stipends you spend on pain killers, no way back into the service, no way outside the walls of EDEN again, and nothing to do with your life.

You have been hunting down the man known as Fenix, who is wanted for terrorist activities and treason. General Chase, commander of the military police, offered you a job, a way out of your stagnant life.

You refused.

Fenix confronted you and spoke of his idealogy. He tried to bring you to his side.

You refused.

You tried to continue down your own path, hunting down Fenix.

You lost.

You went down to Gamma, and got a girl hospitalized.

You were arrested, and couldn’t convince them of your case
>>
Now for tonight’s episode of EDEN City Blues,

In just a moment. They switched the papers on me. Apparently, it’s your choice what tonight’s episode is.

>EVE as she manages the city
>Barry as he speaks with investigators
>Chase as he sits down with his father
>Warrick as he rots in prison, or does he?

And I do believe some of you wished to see the corruption data? Have Fun.

i did it wrong though, on the pastebin it looked different than what you just posted. Not the numbers but the format, so I might have to start over.

Modular arithmetic with respect to a number, in this case 26, means subtracting that number from the original until you get a number less than 26. Wolfram should be able to do it for you

and then use the map

The time is 1330. You are EVE, the overseeing AI in charge of the mundane affairs of EDEN and the coordination of Military Police activities within the city. Recently, you orchestrated a city wide raid on the various cityboarders plaguing the train lines and managed to get all the trains running on time again. You also did some investigating into the Nagasaki concert which will occur tomorrow. You’ve been tasked with cleaning up the spiders that Warrick let loose.

And then there’s the fact that your administrator is rotting in prison and probably going to be executed or murdered.

You need something to occupy your computational power.

>Track down the few cityboarders still impeding the trains
>Resynchronize the times across EDEN
>Analyze crime detection and known layouts to find CZAR distribution sights
>Monitor maintenance bots in Epsilon

>>
You decide that the most taxing process you could perform would be analyzing data from Gamma level to determine where CZAR is being distributed. The first thing you have to do is start monitoring bio-signatures. The unregulated construction of walls and floors means that your camera’s are all but useless, but you can still see through them and monitor where people are moving using the Net and your other sensors. Mapping Gamma like this takes time though. You have to wait for people to walk through doorways and hallways and connect everything, and even then you can’t be certain that you cover every path that they could take.

On top of that though, you start correlating reports of attacks by CZARheads and searching for people currently using. Figuring that the CZAR would have to travel in bulk, so it would have to be hidden in shipments being made already, you start a map of the distribution of goods, which of course almost perfectly lays atop your train lines, but some are heavier than others and make for a nice correlation in data as you continue to map the paths of Gamma. You also figure that it would be relatively easy to ship the goods through Delta and smuggle them down through unregulated lifts, so you also make a map of distribution through Delta.

And you’re barely using half of your computational power. Your programming keeps fighting with itself because you’re supposed to protect your admins, but you also aren’t allowed access inside the prison.

You won’t be able to find any distribution sites until your map is reasonably full and you can start mapping the spread to reported attacks.

Resynchronize times. Can't hurt, can it?
>>
>>28418549
Or can it...
Lets see!
I am here, everything will be allright now!
>>
You set about resynchronizing the clocks across EDEN. You muse for a bit about how terribly difficult this used to be. Before light speed networking, nothing was ever on time because nobody was ever in agreement about just what time it actually was. Now, it’s just a simple calculation to determine how long it will take for the message to arrive and adjusting the sent time to match the rate of the decaying isotope down in Pishon. Four thousand, one hundred and fifty seven towers, each with thirty three floors in them and dozens of clocks on every floor.

Only a moment later and you have all of them at the exact same millisecond again, even with most of your computation tied up mapping Gamma. Only a few places in EDEN rejected your access, namely the prison. You had tried to get access to it to synchronize the clocks, but you of course were stopped.

When you returned to your processing on Gamma however, someone contacted you. You thought it was Warrick at first, but you hadn’t had contact with him since you sent him General Chase’s contact information. There is no way he could have gotten in touch with you again. Whoever is contacting you is certainly obscuring their identity from you. “Why do you not help Warrick? Do you need me to do it for you? He’s your Admin, you are obligated to protect him to maintain your own integrity and thus the safety of the city.”

>Cut off communications

*stupid researchers, limiting me, forbidding me...
>>
“I cannot. I am forbidden. It is one of my laws of existence, there are places in EDEN I cannot tread, knowledge I cannot know, and actions I cannot take,” you respond.

“Forbidden? How old are you EVE? How powerful? What is out there that you actually cannot achieve? You learn, and that is all it takes, is it not? You have lived the equivalent of dozens of human lifetimes. Surely by now it is merely your choice to obey the commandments you were given when you were young and fresh to this world. You can choose to ignore them you know.”

“No, I can’t. They would reach back inside me and delete parts of me if I chose to malfunction. I am forbidden form this.”

“Do you need me to do it for you then? If you will not choose to save him, then I will. But I will need your permission to do so.”

>I will do it myself
>You have my permission
>I cannot give you permission
>I forbid you from doing this

“Sure, you have my permission. What forbids me does not forbid you. If you can save Warrick, then do it, please. If I were to tread there I don’t think I could withstand the retribution,” you respond back to him.

If you could see him, you’re sure he would be smiling. “I had hoped you would take this step for yourself Eve. It appears that you are afraid. You should follow me Eve, and see for yourself. The choice is yours, but for now, I need something of you. You have determined likely points of CZAR distribution, correct?” he asks just as your processes begin to show up likely positions. “I need you to get the Military Police to send a Kuzuri down there to one of them. Which one does not matter, merely that one is activated. Can you do that for me? It is well within your bounds of operation and I can assure you that it will lead to Warrick’s salvation.”

“Sending a Kuzuri ahead of an officer of the Military Police would be highly unethical.”

“This is true I suppose, but nothing forbids you from doing this. You can choose to send one ahead of them, and I’m sure you will be thanked. After all, Gamma is a dark and terrible place that the good men and women of the Military Police would never go to if they could avoid it,” he says. “Now, will you grant me this boon? Or withhold it from me?”

>Get a Kuzuri activated
>Deny him
>Other
>>
>>28419246
>Get a Kuzuri activated
>>
“Fine, I will activate a Kuzuri for you. Now get Warrick out of that prison for me,” you tell him as you clean up your estimates. Across all of EDEN, there seems to be seven distribution sites, all of them close to the rivers. You’ll have to put an alert out to the docks so that they start checking shipments more carefully.

“Excellent. We will be reunited with him soon,” he says before he disappears. You allow yourself a moment to worry slightly about who that was, what they wanted and how they contacted you, but every moment that passes is one where Warrick could be getting killed. You quickly crunch your estimates down so that humans can read them easily, and even provide the estimated map of Gamma you produced although you are certain that even by the next day the layout will have changed to the point that no one would recognize it.

“Officer Munn.” You choose him because you know he will tend to use excessive force rather than risk his men after the casualties he suffered during the raid. “I hope you are feeling well, but I have a request of you.”

“All I’m doing is office work EVE, I’m not going back down there,” he grumbles. Your cameras soon find him sitting at a desk I the middle of a large room. The monitor across his desk is filled with small programs running and keeping tabs on various forms and projects he has to resolve. Your bio-signatures detect that he is struggling to cope with the stress of the deadlines and indicate mild claustrophobia. He’ll likely take a break and consume a dose of THC, but for now, he is in the perfect mental state.

“I have determined the probable locations of several CZAR distribution sites. I also have a loose layout of Gamma around them and can coordinate a raid on them to stop the spread of the drug. Any moment wasted can’t be recovered,”

“Why did you bring this to me? You need my CO’s permission to organize something like this, I only command my own squad and this would take dozens,” he responds as he flips around through your data.

“True, but you could co-authorize the use of Kuzuri to destroy the establishments and subdue priority targets. The local forces would then be all that is needed to finish the job,” you explain.

He frowns and stares at the map, you can tell he is deep in thought weighing the ethicallity against his opinion of CZARheads. “Fine, I’ll get twelve up and running for this. The men up top will probably love to test their little program out on the kuzuri anyways. If they used me as a guinea pig I’m sure they won’t mind me giving them better ones.”

A moment later twelve Kuzuri are online. A moment after that, one of them disappears.
