For House & Dominion: Home Front Questhttp://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/HouseAndDominion_Wikihttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20DominionYou are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! When you were still out on the front lines you command the Third Attack Wing, one of the elite units of the House, composed of fast hard hitting Cruisers, Frigates and a few remaining Corvettes. You've fought Pirates, slavers, madmen and peoples from more than a half dozen species. Going from piloting an outdated corvette so outclassed you barely survived your first five missions, to commanding some of the most advanced ships in your House. Where once you were the daughter of a middle class merchant struggling to get by, you're now rich enough that you've bought starships, Factories and started your own company.Your success has not been without hardship however. You've nearly lost count of the number of times you've been shot or stabbed on boarding missions, and recently your right arm was burned off near the shoulder necessitating a cybernetic replacement. Last time you attended a ball held by the Dreminth Planetary Governor, though it was largely planned and organised by the Palaiologos family. The ball was a busy event and you met your fair share of Knights and Nobles including plenty of old friends.Once the festivities are over and Alex is free of family obligations both of you meet up with Mike to plan your next move: A possible raid on one of the smuggling operations on the planet known to sell illegal arms and ammunition. If it could be shut down it would be a major blow to the local gangs, and if the munitions could be captured intact they could either be sold at a later time to Nobles planning to hunt exotic animals or used as leverage in blackmailing the Landlord.

Sorting notes. Apologies. The three of you catch one of the scheduled shuttles into orbit where you'll be in a better position to get hold of ships and equipment for a raid. Like you and Mike, Alex has brought his suit of power armor packed up in a crate for transport."So, have you decided how we're doing this or even if it's really such a good idea at all?" Alex asks after setting down his gear. You look over what is available. There's your two ships the Bittenfeld and The Great Devourer, you also have a good quality LST, four shuttles and your personal starfighter. As far as weapons go you'll be limited in what can be brought with you on a raid but even in that department you should be relatively well off.Alex looks over a map of the general area within a few kilometer's of Mike's home town."Even in power armor we're going to need some Marines to back us up." "I'd rather not call on our Civil Defense Force recruits to hit the place." Says Mike. "I'm worried they might take the opportunity to crack down on any nearby gangs which could spark more internal problems. I know there are some Mercenaries here on the station that are willing to take side jobs."Roll 2d20 for available Marines and Mercenaries

16 Marines and 9 Mercs are located within a half hour of coming aboard."So we do have some people available, just not a lot." you state, looking up some of the Marines and others still on the station that you know. "Where is Ecord?""He's off on exercises.""Jeez, the guy needs to take a break."With your available forces you still have a number of options. You can try and take the Smugglers on the ground with or without police assistance and confiscate any arms and munitions as military contraband. Any legally sold goods they have could be confiscated as well, but you might need to later pay for some of it to allow the smugglers to pay for their legal fees.Another way is to go after them is to force them to take off in their ship(s) some how. This may require more police intervention. If they resist after lifting off they can declared as hostile vessels and salvaged. NOTE: If their trajectory puts them as landing somewhere else on the planet Police may challenge your jurisdiction. You could also attempt to infiltrate the black market hub and steal one of the ships.>What is your plan for dealing with the Smugglers and their Splinter ammo stockpiles?>Do you plan to alert the police as to your intentions?
>>28376992Ask Mike and Alex for their opinions. Alex tends to be more sensible than Sonia, and Mike should probably have a pretty decent idea what will work here or not.
>>28376992Well we are here for their illegal military hardware and not gold. Calling up some police units should solve any manpower problem we might have so we can get what we want and they can get less crime in their area. Also to draw less attention to the fact that this ammo wont be disposed off we should probably avoid making a to big a mess out of this. Like say hijacking a ship or shooting one down with our space shark.
>Ask Mike and Alex for their opinions. Alex tends to be more sensible than Sonia, and Mike should probably have a pretty decent idea what will work here or not.Alex looks over the maps and available equipment. "I think ground approach might be our best bet if we're going for the blackmail option. There's not enough room for an LST to plant cargo crates and let us fake it, which means any weapons we find had to have been on site before our arrival. Once a transport gets airborne it'll be more dangerous for our shuttles to approach it, unless we bring in one of our ships to challenge them quickly. Even then it'll have to keep its distance."You frown. "You really think this Landlord would claim we planted evidence?"Alex shrugs. "She'll be looking for a way to get out of our blackmail scheme one way or another."Mike speaks up. "Ground approaches will be heavy. There's a lot terrain to cover, even if we land on a roof and rope down nearby. There could be fifty or one hundred of them in the black market not counting customers, and with weapon shops set up any vehicles will be fire magnets.">>28377231One for police support.
>>28377426I have no idea which plan is better, but I'd prefer to minimize any kind of non-hostile casualties.Would we blackmail the landlord to help Mike, or just to make more money?
>>28377458Black mailing to help mike and maybe earn a little something on the side as well.I wouldn't "mind" police backup, but I get the feeling they might slow us down. I do say we go for ground approach with us in our power armor. If we can get the location of one of their ships before hand we can try to intercept it after the raid to try and catch them before they lift off.Hell, if we scout out the ship before hand we can "tag" it so that our ship in orbit can make sure they don't leave.
>>28377458>Would we blackmail the landlord to help Mike, or just to make more money? This would mainly be to help Mike/ his family.Payments from the tenants are supposed to go off site to the Landlord, except most of them are intercepted by hoods. As buildings and neighborhoods are secured it should be easier for Lord Do'orla Epyn to collect payments. However it could be some time before the tenants could actually support regular payments. Mike's mother wants the Lord to reduce the overall rent cost until the area is back on its feet.Did you want to also collect some funds from the Lord in addition to this?In theory you could take this a step farther though and blackmail the Lord into selling the Land. The problem with this is sale of property under duress can come back to haunt everyone involved if it becomes public knowledge.
>>28377612In that case, let's just use it to help Mike's family. If that works it, it's more than enough.
>>28377612I fail to see how this is even viable blackmail beyond the Landlord laughing in our faces and antagonizing her. That ammo is not in her possession. She is thus not responsible.
>>28377612>>28377647 again,I also don't see how all of those money get intercepted. Either they use some kind of physical payment, which is stupid, or a local bank that is either in collusion or unable to fight back.If they would go for a serious banking thrust hacking would be immediately flagged as a serious crime and the legions lawyers would hound them and the police department for their entire lives. Big banks are kind of like that able to afford to waste 100 $ to get back 0.5$ back, so as to discourage such petty shit, considering that if they have such a large market. they most likely have more than 1000 such neighborhoods as their clients.
What about using some of the marines on our shark ship?If we spook them to orbit, bitttenfeld can cripple and devourer can board, and we have a pilot/command officer on the shark that can run the ship for the op.
>>28377647If someone was say illegally growing weed on your land, as the land owner you would also be found to be at fault for allowing it. I have seen this shit happen to people that rent out houses IRL. It's not fun.If you don't like the law by all means do something to change it.>>28377702The local hardlines are physically compromised and police are losing control of the area. The wireless in the region was never secure.Because of this some people are moving into these areas specifically because it's unlikely they'll be harassed over missing rent payments.>Big banks are kind of like that able to afford to waste 100 $ to get back 0.5$ back, so as to discourage such petty shit, considering that if they have such a large market. they most likely have more than 1000 such neighborhoods as their clients.I get your meaning, but the bank doesn't own the land. If the police aren't going to handle it the Lord should be going to one of the Barons, the Governor, or getting her own men at arms together and cracking down on that shit. You own the land you own the responsibility for it.>>28377893They're part of the garrison provided by the House as security to ensure the ship does not fall into the hands of people from another House. Like the crew aboard who helped built it.A few of them are counted among the 16 available Marines.>If we spook them to orbit, bitttenfeld can cripple and devourer can board, and we have a pilot/command officer on the shark that can run the ship for the op.Its certainly a viable option.
What do we actually know about that landlord? If she's known to be honest when it comes to business deals we might gain a valuable ally by keeping the blame for the contraband away from her and letting her know we did so.
>>28378079I think it's more of we are going to try to do this "without" having to use blackmail, but if things break down we have the contraband to bring up.Aka, Diplomacy and if that fails blackmail.
>>28378079Lord Do'orla Epyn, a Dro'all who is far more concerned with their job in the orbital infrastructure business. She currently owns a few sectors in this city with most of her land holding concentrated in the southern polar regions with industry or agriculture. She has a tendency of not looking after her landholdings well when her orbital business is doing well and when it isn't doesn't have much money to fix problems with the residential sectors.Known more for being an engineer than a politician. Essentially if its not manufacturing related she doesn't care for it. Tries to stay out of political intrigue remaining cautious, but is respected enough to get by. Is generally disliked by employees but the same can be said by most people working factory jobs on Dreminth.Has a number of children anticipated to receive separate sections of her land holdings.>If she's known to be honest when it comes to business deals we might gain a valuable ally by keeping the blame for the contraband away from her and letting her know we did so.Honest enough when it comes to written agreements which she's known to follow to the letter. Occasionally exploiting loopholes in them but rarely, likely to avoid blow back. How does this change things for you gentlemen?>>28378180So did you want to conduct the raid before or after the diplomacy attempt?
>>28378279>How does this change things for you gentlemen?Would it be possible to get her to endorse Mike's family unofficially? She has nothing to lose. Either the sector and the surrounding ones will actually stabilise and generate money in the future, or the house will simply ship everybody off to the colonies once things become too bad.
>>28378279I would say before the attempt that way already "have" everything we need to go straight to the blackmail. This is a two part plan for the most part. A: We are going to get this blackmail just in case we need it and B: we are making that certain ammo type scarce on the homeworld for our own "profit".
>>28378330You wont know this until you actually go talk to her.So, what is it going to be?[ ] Talk to Lord Epyn now, conduct raid later[ ] Conduct raid now, talk to Lord Epyn later[ ] Other?

>>28378517[x] Other: Conduct Raid now, leave Mike to do the talking.Just let her know that he asked some friends to help him scratch her back, and he'd like her to help him set up a robot to scratch both of their backs in the future.
Well that's 3 votes for raid now, on to the next question.[ ] Try to catch the smugglers on the ground[ ] Try to force them to take off
>>28378766>[ ] Try to catch the smugglers on the ground
>>28378766On one hand threatening with giant speesh shark seems fun. On the other hand 3 people in power armor assaulting a group of smugglers sound fun aswell!Hmm... Yeah let's go with the ground assault thingy
>>28378766Here is a question... if Sonia sneaks onto their ship's bridge and kills everyone on it, then pilots it into orbit... can we just say that we happened to 'take control' of the ship in orbit?Just gotta turn off our mission recorder...
>>28378836In theory yes.
>>28378836>kills everyoneCan we collect bounties if we turn them over to the police instead of killing them?
>>28378880If they have bounties on them.
>>28378893I just want to reduce the amount of close-up murder we're doing.
>>28378926Alternatively, we can stun them. The problem with stunning them is that they'd need to be stunned -after- they've decided to depart themselves, or they'll say that they surrendered. Which isn't a bad option, if it happens like that. I bet we could stun most if not all of the bridge with a stun grenade or two. But, if we're going to pilot it into orbit ourselves, we can't have witnesses saying 'we don't know how we got into orbit, and I was on the bridge!'
2 for trying to catch the smugglers on the ground, no one for the other plan so far. Some discussion on how best to combine the plans by flying the ship into orbit ourselves. While you don't really have enough troops to man it yourself, did you want to send down the LST to assist any police forces called in?Alternatively it could be used to force down any light transports that managed to escape.
>>28379158>While you don't really have enough troops to man it yourself, did you want to send down the LST to assist any police forces called in?Let's lend these guys a hand. We'll have to get along with them for quite a bit of time in this sector, after all.
>>28379158>LSTHave our LST ready to go if it is needed, call it a system check if we have to.>same anon as 'kill bridge crew and fly to orbit' hereI think our best bet is to infiltrate with Sonia in recon armor and plan to have our ground assault spook the smugglers into orbit, where we spring our assault on the bridge. Bonus points if our LST lands on a second ship we discover on the way, trapping it.
You, Mike, Alex and your Marines are loaded up and ready for the drop aboard one of the shuttles. The Mercs will be waiting aboard the LST just in case. The PDF has cleared you for exercises against a potential threat on the surface you've gained intel on. They've requested you take steps to minimise civilian casualties. As you're commanding the operation you'll be expected to take responsibility for collateral damage. You have the channel ready to contact Police Captain Nayati Wahkoowah.[ ] Leave the cops out of this[ ] Better get their support (What say?)
>>28379719>[x] Leave the cops out of thisContact them after we're finished. We don't want them confiscating the splinter rounds.

>>28379719>[ ] Leave the cops out of thisAt least for now.
"We'll let the Police know what's going on once we've secured the ammo." You tell the others, then signal the pilot to commence the drop. Launching from the bay the shuttle heads out away from the ships and orbital infrastructure then begins a descent approach that will bring you down on the other side of the planet. Your flight plan has cleared you for a high speed descent, precalculated to avoid civilian traffic by a safe margin. The shuttle starts to shake from the usual reentry turbulence. "There's something I hadn't considered." Says Alex."What's that?" Mike asks."This shield is kind of unwieldy for getting in and out of the jump seats on the shuttle, even when folded down.""That's what the overhead storage bins are for. Also, please tell me you got some practice in with that suit of yours.""I'll be fine thank you. I could probably survive reentry with this shield if we had to bail out right now. And yes, I practiced."Another few minutes and your descent brings you within visual range of the city. "Mike, you ever get tired of seeing your home town like this?" You ask him. "Not really. It beats seeing it from up close."The shuttle pilot triggers the intercom. "Sir, where do you want us to set you down? At the police station so you can infiltrate on foot, on a rooftop near the black market or on top of Lt Serth's building? We'll dust off again and orbit the sector until we get your signal.">Your orders?

Come in from 30 degrees south of there."Alex pipes up. "Mike there's a lot of tall buildings in that area. It would be pretty easy for a sniper to get a shot off if we did a roof landing."You mind Alex that you have camouflage."Right."[ ] Police station[ ] Mike's alternate landing site

You lift the jumpseat harness out of the way, grab your gun and head forward to one of the hatches. Linking to the shuttle cameras you can see the area maked on your HUD. Alex wasnt kidding, anyone going out there would be a sitting duck for snipers."I'm going to make a slow pass sir. the starboard side hatch should be out of view of any snipers." "Got it."You open the side hatch and geat ready, watching the edge of the roof approaching as the shuttle reduces speed."Now."You jump, knees belt and roll with the landing. Looking over you see the shuttle pull up just enough to fit through a gap between two taller appartment complexes. The running lights are off, but the engines are producing enough light and noise that it isnt fooling anyone paying attention. You check that your Carbine is in one piece then move out. Back to using regular ammo on it, you hope that it's still effective enough against any foes you encounter.Securing the grapple you make your way down the side of the building, rappelling down to ground level. The area where you went down is mostly concrete, with few windows to worry about. You make good time, and while you do need to detach and re-secure part of the way down, it doesn't effect the descent at all.On the ground again, you head west-northwest through the rapidly darkening streets. Things are quiet, most of the buildings locked down for the night. People here seem to use blackout curtains to keep light from getting out.For being a market Hub it sure seems difficult to find at first. Well perhaps not difficult, but it would have been time consuming if Mike hadn't told you where it was located. Then again most of the black market locations you've been to before were aboard ships, or stations established specifically for that purpose. Or places like Tourta where it was more a way of life than a hidden commodities exchange.Finding the right turn off you head down an alley then climb an access ladder so you'll be off the ground and take a ledge around the next corner to avoid a detection system down at ground level. Farther in the alley widens out again and more lights start to be present, arranged in decorative patterns above still open shops. A roof has been built above the entire area, just a few meters above your head. It looks sturdy enough that there could be another street above it with pedestrians and small vehicle traffic. Probably sensor shielded as well. The street continues to widen, twisting and turning around the bases of buildings all the while descending. That or the street level above is getting higher. Eventually you end up in a converted underground parking garage.
On the other side of the garage is several open levels of exposed infrastructure. Conduits for power, water and other utilities normally placed in access tunnels just below the street have been diverted, shifting them out of the way just enough to allow cargo loadeders to pass beneath them. and into the rest of the market. On the other side is a hanger space where two Constellations and a Rovinar LST are unloading or taking aboard containers. Behind them are a pair of hanger doors. If the street and utilities plans for the region are accurate there should be a flood control channel on the other side of those doors similar to the ones you used on Gesaur, only much larger. They'd have to be if a small starship can use them.So far you can see thirty armed guards scattered around the bay where the starships are located. Who knows how many are in the rest of the market, there must be two or three hundred others here buying or selling things.>Your orders?
>>28382606[x] Intel/knowledge of Rovinar LSTs, especially cargo capacity vs ConstellationsCan we pick out any actual Rovinar among the crowds, or evidence that the Rovinar ship is still crewed by Rovinar? >>28382714Rovinar use the same base hull for their LST's and Light Attack Ships. Their pair of starship grade E-beams are removed and replaced with two troop or two cargo modules on the LST's.They have one powerful main engine and several smaller shuttle grade sublight drives. Like with equivalent ships, installation of an FTL system significantly reduces the ship's defensive capability.>vs ConstellationsThey can mount far more powerful weapons if configured for attack and are more maneuverable. Shield strength varies depending on configuration. There are a few Rovinar among the security and cargo handling personnel of all 3 ships.>If so, does that mean the Rovinar will be angsty if any of them end up dead? They're smugglers, this is highly unlikely.>Can we pick out anyone hawking or advertising splinter ammo? You look around in the parking garage. There are 2 of them. One stall is selling them by the round or by the magazine, another stall down on the lower level looks to be responsible for large sales and only stocks crates of them. There is one stall owned by someone named called "Krazy Kali" that has been closed down on the mid levels. A few flyers and advertisement displays nearby show you can buy nearly any kind of munitions from them, even starship grade ones. A sign shows that it is closed for the next few days because of low stocks. You feel the inexplicable need to crush the displays into dust.>Do we see any sort of control center for the doors?>See if we can find an easy way to sabotage those hangar doors. There are control booths connected to the ceiling of the bay at either side and at the mid point between the doors. >>28383577>... It would be unfortunate if someone moved something in their stall and a grenade exploded, wouldn't it?We totally need to steal the stall and use it the next time we do our thing.

They're mostly Frag, through they do have some plastic explosives. Its on an upper level with a wall that will direct most of an explosion out away from the rest of the parking garage. The stall on the floor directly below it is empty.>What kind of power armour did Mike and Alex get?Mike has Power Cell Armor. >>28383908I'd like to propose that we head over to the frag dealer and set up one of his grenades as a boobytrap in his stall, preferably where he'd lift something and it would detonate, assuming that frag grenades have 'safety' handles.I'm thinking we should move to secure the Rovinar LST, as it seems to be a greater threat to our potential ground assault, and if the blisters are Anti-Infantry, we can potentially turn them on hostile forces or even the neighboring Constellation's weapons/engines.
>>28384169>delayNo. Krazy Kali is a secondary objective, not a primary one.

Making your way onto the Rovinar ship you take your time avoiding the crew. The last thing you need is the accidental activation of a shipwide alarm giving you away. You havent needed to go aboard one of these ships before so the layout is different than you're used to. For that matter you havent really been aboard any Rovinar ships except for that one an ambassador came to see you on and it was far from military. This one is military and it is cramped. The bridge is located just forward of the small engineering section. It seems to have one of those holographic displays like The Great Devourer does."Are you seeing static on the displays or is it just me?" Asks one of the crew. "We're in dock, nothing should be causing static." You stun them both before they figure out your camouflage is messing with their display system. Moving fast you secure the doors and lock down the bridge. It takes a bit longer than usual to search through all of the controls until you locate the com pannel. Everything is still labeled in its original Rovinar script showing things down by a fraction of a second here and there.Coms! You switch to the correct channel. Once you find the right port to plug the hacking module into it only takes a minute to take complete control of the ship. First you take down the com systems then check for an armory. There isn't one, it must be in the cargo modules on an actual troop ship. The weapons however are operational. The blisters you noticed are indeed small pulse lasers but there are also a few short barreled particle beams built in as spinal mount weapons. >>28386182The cargo bays are half full with one of them being unloaded and the other being loaded back up. The crates are sealed, you either don't have the cargo manifests just yet or the crew doesn't enter them into the computer. You zoom in with the camera systems to get a look. Most are organised by coloured crates. They're taking green ones off the ship and loading a few other types on."Mike, where are you?" You ask after a few minutes of checking internal sensors. "Still five or six minutes out. We took the wrong tunnel and have to back track. There wasn't enough room for the LST to turn around.""How did you get here last time?" "I walked. I spent a lot of time running the channels with repulsor vehicles before I busted my brother out but not since, and a lot of them look the same."You have a few minutes until your backup arrives and not long until someone notices that the ship's coms are out. What do you plan to do?

>>28386640Well, there is no point in taking this ship if it has no splinter ammo in it. Let's ensure that we have full control and move outside of it. >>28387127We noted a power cell armored person that seemed to be part of this LST. If we can get it into orbit and secure it as salvage, we might be able to collect a whole boat load of expensive goods, in addition to any splinter ammo aboard. It is also armed with enough guns that we can likely clear out the market itself just by shooting a wall with them, in addition to covering our marines.>>28387148Can we drop some crazy, purposefully uncrackable/usable encryption onto this LST's systems to disable it, if we choose to move on after a guarenteed source of splinter ammo? He just opens his mouth to say something when you stun him, sending him sprawling.Rushing back to the controls you dump as many of the countermeansures as you can get from the hacking module into the ship's systems, then activate the lasers, targeting the other transports. Rushing off the bridge and towards the nearest open cargo bay you can already hear the sound of the laser fire carrying through the corridors. "What the fuck is going on?!" Yells the older man you heard earlier. Rounding the corner you see the merc in Power Cell Armor running up the steps. Moving to the side you wait until he's past then rush up behind him. Left hand grabs the back of his armor, right hands stabs your HF blade down through the weak point in the neck, killing him with one swift blow. Running down the stairs and into the cargo bay you see two more crewmen rushing towards the ship, hands over their ears. Both of them go down from stun bolts as you move past them making for the parking garage.Looking back the lasers aren't proving terribly effective against the others hips but they are creating a distraction. One of the Constellations take aim with a particle beam turret but seems reluctant to open fire. The main bay doors are starting to open up. You can see crew members near the ships abandoning their crates and running up the cargo ramps. There are others from the parking area descending the stairs and moving in the same direction. Holstering your pulse pistol you shoulder the Carbine and take aim, firing at anyone who has a drawn weapon. It doesnt take long for people to notice a pattern and scatter, falling back towards the markets.Taking cover, you drawing your plasma pistol and fire off a few shots at the engines on a transport, blasting some small holes in their armor. "This is Alex, the Police are now on alert. They've detected heavy weapons fire through their sensor grid. All police assets are mobilising."Outside the doors the shuttle swings past, nearly overshooting the bay and begins firing on the turrets on the constellation class ships. One returns fire clipping the shuttle's aft section and causing one of the engines to explode. The shuttle makes a hard landing behind the Rovinar ship but one that's survivable. The LST comes into view next, taking hits on its shields and blasting the topside turrets of then scrapes the ceiling while landing on both of them. Anyone that had still been moving towards the remaining ships are now reassessing that decision. "Mike, Alex you guys still alive?""Yep.""Yes, thank you.""How long until the cops can get vehicles here?" you ask, wondering how fast you can secure the ammo crates."Uh, looks like two guncopters are already away and closing fast."The Marines and your fellow Knights are spreading out from the downed shuttle Getting up from cover you sprint through the crowds towards the main splinter ammo stockpile on the lower level.

Charging in, you hop the concrete divider and reach the stall where most of the splinter ammo is kept. A Merc is just in the process of loading up a squad support weapon with and shoving the owner out of the way when you arrive. Two five round bursts down him. "You've gotta be shitting me Alex, move your ass!"."Fuck you Mike." Responds Alex. Looking out you see Alex putting down a steady barrage of phase rifle fire while advancing. His heavy shield is tough enough to take the hail of splinter rounds raining down from above. After entering the lower level your people close on your position. "This is most of the splinter ammo here." You tell them."What about those guys upstairs?" Asks a Marine Sergeant. "I said most, not all. We'll need some people to stay here with the ammo crates."Those who have taken armor damage volunteer. Alex detaches a module from the back of his shield and tosses it next to the ammo crates. Hardware that could be used to form barricades has been sighted as well but none of it is being moved towards the market hub. It's likely the various gangs are preparing to go on the defensive if the Police spread out and raid other locations."So, how was your first big fight while being off ship Alex?" Mike asks him."Well it wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be. Still pretty bad though. I'm not opening my helmet down here."You agree that's likely for the best.

Is that within our power, or do we have to bump the fire sale auction idea up to a higher officer?

If Rob is going to break his funds buying us out at 2.5 mil, we should see if we can work out something simple between us where he can pay say 1.5 mil now and the rest at a fixed time/deadline.Ecord was a damned fine marine to have with the Wing. This would also give us the funding to buy a flight of surplus Corvettes from the House and add them to our salvage company. There was mention that our Captains wanted escorts to be arranged, and the corvettes can also scout ship graveyards while escorting, due to their high maneuverability and small size.

Intel file loaded.Neeran Super Heavy Alternate TypeCode Name: Scorcher"Major Sonia Reynard, we believe you encountered one of these ships on a previous mission in which you and several other units attempted to disable it. We don't know why but until recently the Neeran have been holding these ships in reserve. In the past two weeks we've seen an increasing number of them deployed to the front lines, always in systems where they've faced heavy resistance. It's been difficult to determine their exact movements as they are only deployed with overwhelming levels of support ships. Maybe they've been conducting tests, intel is still speculating. The bow section on these ships split open, deploying into siege array. It's similar to Kavarian Siege Formations which normally required six super heavy cruisers and a special support ship. The Neeran have refined that concept, using rows of containment field projectors, repulsors and plasma emitters. After the bow has opened the cannons will dump plasma into a single large magnetic bottle at the focal point. Once enough plasma is built up the bubble is hurled at an object at great speed. They'll usually maintain a continuous stream after firing so any ship or planetary shield that survives the initial impact will not have time to recover. One shot has enough power to destroy a planetary biosphere, but the Neeran have been confirmed to be going a step beyond that, targeting tectonic plate boundaries. Because of this Terraforming will not be viable for an extended period and cities protected against atmospheric shockwaves by local shields will not survive the subsequent ground quakes.Reports that the Neeran have destroyed a planet with these ships has not been verified at this time. Any rumors indicating such should be discouraged to maintain morale."

"Do we have to?"2 hours & 10 minutes later...Jing Ki busts out the X-Ray laser which has been made out to be a BFG, which somehow is only good for one shot. "Now!" Shouts Knight Sylvan, yanking several marines and your character down and out of the way. Your former Sergeant fires, striking Tichborne square in the chest, which somehow causes his skeleton to glow through his armor. He yells out in pain before his skeleton explodes. When the dust clears everyone helps Sylvan up because of heat damage to the back of his armor."Thank you sir, that shot would have killed us along with him.""Well we didn't need more dead heroes. "I don't think they reveal what level of general insanity the person writing them has. Or the declassified ones must not.""Hey, don't make me put you in the next movie." you warn her. "I didn't care for it." Your mother eventually admits. "I'm sure your father will like it."You look over at Linda for her assessment. "Three out of five. I'd pay to see it once but that's it."Besides the ending scene which was way off for a number of reasons, it was over the top and unrealistic in a lot of others. You'd better not let your sister watch it, or if you do use it for instructional purposes on what things would get you killed in real life. For example, you remember having a half dozen holes burned in your armor before getting shot in the leg and having to hobble around for a few days. That sure didn't happen in the movie. The three of you grab some food then head back, dropping your mother off before returning to the station.
Showing up at the bank the next morning, you make sure to wear one of your new suits. After barely a minute long wait you're shown in to talk to one of the senior financial planners and the person the bank has selected to act as the company director for the time being. The other one on your side of the desk shakes your hand. "Knight Captain Reynard, I'm Ruben London. I'll be helping to run the company on behalf of yourself and the bank. I have experience in helping with company start ups and all of the various problems and complications that can go along with them. So don't worry I haven't bankrupted a company yet."It's that first time you're worried about. "Some people like that joke more than others. As the company Director I'll be dealing with a lot of the banking issues and acting as both yours and the banks representative when you're not around. When you are around that's fine. Hands on or hands off approach is entirely up to you.For work out in the field though the company is going to need an operations manager. With deep space construction, engineering or salvage work that person can end up doing a lot of the real heavy lifting. That's why its important to hire the right person for the job. We've got two main candidates that look really promising."Lucius Özdemir [A] Trae'ria Gal'mil [E]Special Traits [A] Administrator [Increased salvage payout / reduced supply cost ][E] Engineer [Increased Salvage Rate / Improved repairs ]"There are some others I can call up the files on but it would be easier if you told me what sort of specializations you consider most important for the business.">What say?
>>28410997Can you give more information about their background and experience?

Any past history we should worry about? Actually was there any candidates that would have replaced these top two but weren't mentioned thanks to said past history?
>>28410997Frankly, I vote Engineer. A character backstory can be built as we need.
>>28411340True, i'm leaning toward Engineer anyway since they would be more hand on.
>>28410997This depends on just how better those traits of theirs make things? Are we talking 5% increases or 50% or more? Also.... Why isent anyone else excited about that spear HF blade thingy! I simply demand that we MUST train with it. It's the single coolest thing we've salvaged since our ye'ol plasma pistol. Imagine the possibilitys if you will! An enemy patrol of two. on has stopped to investigate while the other is a few meters ahead. We kill the one that stops but the other one notices! Our weapon is out of ammo surely the guard will alert the rest! Nopp, yoink, spear stab from five meters away. It's bloody awesome. But yeah, more info on what the trait bonus does and insanely awesome training with the new.... Shark spear?
A spear definitely gives us options, if it turns out to be useful we could commission a souped up combi-stick for maximum opredator.Question is, will our cloak cover something that big?
>>28410997While we're here at the bank with our own corporate director and I assume lawyer (of not get him in here and make sure everything we say is covered by non-disclosure agreements), we can talk about establishing holding / shell companies so that we can establish that ammo factory without it being connected to us directly.
>>28410997Why not both? Engineer focuses on recovery operations while the admin manages the finances.
>>28410997We're not doing this for the money. Well, mostly, the money is nice as well. So increasing the salvage rate and getting better stuff out of it seems like a good thing. So I'd go for the engineer, if we can't somehow hire both. I wouldn't mind getting both. Profits aren't that important right now, I wouldn't really care if hiring both even means we'd earn next to nothing for a few months.

The company will be payed for conducting salvage work for them, usually for the amount of usable scrap or hulls that are brought in. Local House forces conduct routine sweeps trying to locate higher value hulls and will mark ones they want to make specific claims on. You'll still get payed for bringing those ones in but won't be able to buy them. If they have not been marked you can buy them for the estimated value of the (damaged) hull. This is the state of most of the Smugglers Run now that it is secured. The area is fairly safe and is recommended for new salvage teams just starting out.Salvage operations in disputed or unclaimed areas are more wild west than anything. Grab what you can and get out before someone can take issue. The chances of being fired upon are much more real here. A small escort force would be wise. This is the state of most salvage operations in parts of South Reach and the Pandora Cluster.Front line salvage in Shallan space pays well. Ships that can be recovered are desperately needed and scrap from destroyed Faction or Neeran ships can be used by local repair yards and ship docks.Prices for scrap from destroyed Neeran ships is beginning to drop, albeit slowly. Most R&D labs have samples by now and shipyards are still trying to find the best ways to use or reprocess it.Bring heavy escorts.
>>28416863Wouldent E with the Bittenfeld acting as Escort be a good way to earn the best possible cash if we started out in South Reach? Get in and salvage quickly and get out. Very much like our battle tactics and much improved upon due to his bonus.
>>28415531[x] NikolovRahat Butler is tempting as well.
>>28416863Well I would like to say that we are going to stay away from the front at the moment, but I wouldn't count us out on going to the Pandora Cluster or South Reach. If anything I would say we are more likely to operate in those areas and with our old commander being in charge of all the military assets in South Reach she might need some good salvage...
>>28416863Smugglers run is probably the best idea for the first few months so that our employees can get used ot each other and the equipment in a safe environment.
>>28417206Nevermind that, I like Rahat Butler, nothing like an old bird teaching all the younglings how salvage is done.

>>28417206>Wouldent E with the Bittenfeld acting as Escort be a good way to earn the best possible cash if we started out in South Reach? It's certainly one way to do so.So, I'm dividing the Salvage zones into different difficulty levels.Level 1's are the easy ones but have less of a payout because you just cant steal everything not nailed down.Level 2's are like the Pandora ClusterLevel 3 are active war zones. For an Eve online analogy think, Highsec, Lowsec and Nullsec.Areas hit by operation Typhoon will be down graded to Level 1 within a couple of years.Smugglers Run (Level 1)South Reach (Level 1)South Reach (Level 2) Pandora Cluster (Level 2)Shallan Space (Level 3)Republic Space (Level 1)>Survey soon

Ruben London is a little surprised at your interest in Nikolov. Your financial planner is openly worried you might send your salvage team straight to Shallan Space. Still there is some insurance coverage planned in so if it all falls apart at least the bank will be payed off."You've stated that you want to make employment in the company available to anyone from the regions the House has been operating in. The Homeworld, the Run and South Reach. Have you given any thought to the level of security screening? >>28417785>How far are you willing to let people's past history slide?"I don't really care too much about who they've worked for. >>28418404>Indentured servantsCould you be so kind and give some detail on these? >I wrote more, but the system thinks it's spam.
>>28418513Some servants intentionally volunteer to have a slave chip implanted when offering to work for much more important nobles and people of power. By doing so they can make a great deal of money while serving out the length of their contract. Others may have simply run out of options. When some people are so far into debt that there's no way out its possible to be sent to a debtor's prison (which is rare) or seek alternate means through a bank. Some banks will help debtors out by contracting them into indentured servitude until the money is payed back. Only in the more extreme cases are slave chips used and then almost always at the request of the debtor.Once everything has been payed off or the contract completed the chip can be removed.Indentured servants are protected against mistreatment by law across the Dominion, though some small point may vary. (Some Houses still allow actual slavery but are few in number. Even in those Houses Indentured servitude is full a step above Slavery.)Similar corporate laws exist in parts of Kavarian space. The practice was much more common before the first Human-Kavarian War. Several companies tried to exploit human POW populations.
>>28418793Thanks. That's... a rather mixed bag.I wouldn't mind hiring them, as long as we don't use that slave chip. Ever. Otherwise, as long as we treat them like regular employees, I don't see a problem hiring them.

Well the sales figures have come in for the movie and they are not as good as planned. The largest sales were anticipated to come from the Dominion for obvious reasons. Instead what happened was that many Houses refused to have it shown declaring it was propaganda supporting both an annoying minor House and a weak Ruling House. Houses where it was shown either had little in the way of turnout or lacked the population large enough to make much of a dent. It actually did better in Terran, Kavarian and Rovinar space. The rest of the sales totals came from the Dominion colonies in the Nav Relays, the Pandora Cluster and a bit from the Republic. You get a text message from Captain Sylvan."Not a total disaster. The toys seem to be selling well."From the movie you've made a total of 1,592,610 S.>Nikolov leading by a wide marginYou and Mr London place a long distance call to Saša Nikolov. Paperwork, what a joy. Your sister may be getting more out of it, or putting more into it one or the other.Ms Nikolov also goes through a few applications from her end and sends back results. Your sister finds one person that really shouldn't be hired ever while your operations manager finds two. One of them may even have an active bounty on them still. From your own searches you find several people that are just a bit too shady to take chances with. After most of a week of that you've found enough prospective employees to crew the salvage ships and a skeleton crew for a pair of the older corvettes. It's a real mix of people but you've kept the worst ones away you think.Springing for the corvettes may not have been cheap but there was enough cash from the movie that you still have some left over. In another month you should be getting more money from the shipyard for the first time ever along with a few hundred thousand here and there from your other investments. That should be over 1 million.Current funds: 1,822,610 S "So Sir Reynard, have you decided where the company should try their hand at their first real salvage operation?" Asks Mr London when all of the crew hires have been finalised."Yes I do. We're going to South Reach.""Really? I expected the graveyards in the Run would be less of a trip than those near Surakeh.""We're going for the Level 2 zone. I'll be bringing the Bittenfeld along as well. It's fast enough at sublight to help with scouting and fight off raiders."London does some quick calculation. "That's 20 days just to reach the area." >>28422394That ship is slowboating out of a FTL hazard zone. It needs like 5 years or something to reach a safe distance
>>28422055>You do have a small list of people that weren't hired on to the salvage company because you ran out of available positions.Hire them.
>>28422385It would depend on a number of different factors, like if they were from other Houses, Factions, or civilian corporations. If from other Houses that will depend heavily upon your lawyers and how powerful the other House is.If it was another Faction and if they failed to make any reasonable offer for ships you were in the process of recovering before they fired on you, yes you could take their ships. Probably. The crews and their personal effects would have to be returned. If it was South Reach League, mercenary or civilian, go nuts.Any other unprovoked attack by anyone without prior warning would certainly be grounds for defending yourself at the very least. If uncertain of the legal outcome you could always try to sell the ship off before the original owners catch up.>We did have that ship we left just waiting to be salvaged didn't we?see >>28422407>Would the cash we have be enough to get it up and running? Not right this minute. Once you get salvaging though you would likely have enough.
Is there anything you wanted to take care of next week before your departure?I know we kind of glossed over any hunting expedition.
>>28422738Just out of curiosity when you say we have grounds for defending ourselfs does that mean we shoot a little untill either of us stop or can we blow them with a well placed plasma shoot?Spying on sisters combat sim results I think we wanted to do.OOH! Check up on the torpedo resistant armor investment! Wouldent want to start to lose money now would we?Also Don't forget to archive.
>>28422738How much would it cost to create a Holobooth entertainment building which is open for rent to the locals at dirt cheap? With our sister getting priority reservation.
>>28422738See if Ecord wanted to take over full ownership of the power armor, see if there was any word on if they have found the CC yet, but I can't think of anything else.Oh and make sure to send that message out as a warning for the smugglers.
>>28422779Blackmailing The Lord who holds the land that Mike's family lives on? Finish setting our sister up with a physical trainer and academic tutor / her piloting lessons?Other than that, I think we're golden.
>>28423022Ah yeah, we should do that before we head out.
>>28422779We should start a savings account for our little brother, his education, tutors, and such. Start it with 30k or so?Sell power armor shares to Ecord for the armor he is using.Get Linda or some other Navigators from the wing to go over the Rovinar sensor data we used to locate Vieona/sleepers, see if we can't find a few locations that might have promising salvage from the Faction Wars that may have been hidden by FTL hazard zones.
>>28423022I think we should leave Mike or Alex to do the actual blackmailing. They need their practice in such things, after all.
>>28423022>Blackmailing The Lord who holds the land that Mike's family lives on?Diplomacy first.
>Check up on the torpedo resistant armor investment! Wouldent want to start to lose money now would we?Checking with the bank you look at your revenue stream from them. Shortly after the invasion began there was a minute drop which continues gradually until November where it falls off sharply. There's a notice that you missed stating that production has been curtailed while R&D is underway testing the effectiveness of the current armor system vs Neeran plasma weapons. Well your own testing in the field would tend to indicate a minor improvement against those weapons. Not as much of a boost as it was against torpedoes though.According to the company it looks like they've stopped payouts to the owners and shareholders because of little in the way of any profits. Spare funds are being diverted to try and engineer a more effective alternative.Still with the war on they should still be producing armor of some kind. Maybe they're dumping profits from conventional armor straight into R&D?>>28422899>Holobooth entertainment building The power costs are nuts and you'd need heavier energy infrastructure to make up for it. You might be able to open one for 1.5 million. Finding a plot of land close enough to a population center with access to the industrial power grid that isn't already occupied? That's the difficult part.>>28422913>See if Ecord wanted to take over full ownership of the power armorHe would like to. He can only offer 2.5 million at this time. (He has more money he just cant free up any more of it right now.)"I can get you another million by this time next year, assuming I'm still alive. If not I can have it put into my will to have the funds transferred.">Oh and make sure to send that message out as a warning for the smugglers. They have been duly warned.
>>28423398>"I can get you another million by this time next year, assuming I'm still alive. If not I can have it put into my will to have the funds transferred.""How much lower would I have to go so you can get some upgrades to the armour? I don't mind missing out on some money if it means you can afford better protection."I like the guy, he should rather invest his money in some upgrades.
>>28423398Cash in our shares in torpedo armor, that boat was sinking from the start and we all knew that. More money to put in either ammo or salvage.Neither a really good investment or critical for us to get a holobooth building. Think we can accept the 2.5 now and have him pay the rest when he can get it. It's a acceptable deal and all considering we're buddys and all.
>>28423398>The power costs are nuts and you'd need heavier energy infrastructure to make up for it. You might be able to open one for 1.5 million. Finding a plot of land close enough to a population center with access to the industrial power grid that isn't already occupied? That's the difficult part. Not worth it. Just bribe the guys from the military.
>>28423398>EcordHe's offering the same as the House is. He doesn't need to give us any more than that.My concern over his ability to pay was more of a 'he is a friend and if he needs to pay the offered amount over time due to other things, we should do it for him' deal.
>>284233982.5 is good for now and speaking of the armor investment I think we should keep our shares in the company and ask that house if they had some other projects they were looking into that might need a "Backer".They should have something since they knew they couldn't survive on the armor production forever.Eh, just bride our way to get the holobooths. They the lessons from our friend are still open for our sister if she wants some extra time.
>>28422779Isn't time to check for assassination jobs?
>>28423481>Cash in our shares in torpedo armor, that boat was sinking from the start and we all knew that. More money to put in either ammo or salvage.I'll need confirmation from a few others.>>28423628Against you? Or do you mean head out to the phone booth again?
>>28423653Yeah, check the phone booth.
>>28423653>I'll need confirmation from a few others.I'm undecided. Something in Svidur's stash that might help them get an advantage again?
>>28423653I think we should contact the company about looking to sell [shares] of our current shares at current market price. If they can't buy them up, they'll just have to hit the public market.I'd like to keep -some- of our investment in the company, perhaps an amount equal to our initial investment?Who knows, they could have a breakthrough.
>>28423653Lets wait a little the R&D guys might find something.
>>28423653I say keep the shares in that company and ask if they have other projects that need "Backers".I wouldn't mind checking the phone booth for that other type of job.
>>28423787I agree with this, I want to shed perhaps half out shares in the company. This leaves us with a foot in the door if sang thing major transpires, while freeing up more funds for our salvage/munition businesses. Also, as Alex and Mile are meant to be our partners in the Holding Company, they should be ponying up some funds for this munition business right, especially as we're putting it on our land?
>>28423601>and speaking of the armor investment I think we should keep our shares in the company and ask that house if they had some other projects they were looking into that might need a "Backer".I missed this line before.>>28423661You head out to check the phone booth once more before your departure. The same recording as last time plays."Good afternoon. If you're hearing this it means you've been contacted by one of my associates. I am not given the identities of those they recruit. I require people with skills not a back story. Do not look too deeply into my identity and I will not look into yours.I offer two types of jobs, observation of the unfortunate and gift giving to the considerably more fortunate.Observation pays a lot more at the moment, but that isnt always the case.Press for ObservationPress for Gift givingIf you're stranded in the middle of the northern wastes and need a taxi Press "
>>28423897 I am growing curious about what Gift giving involves.
>>28423897>Press for Gift givingI want to see what the other option does.
>>28423897Just because I'm curious.
>>28423895>Alex and Mike are meant to be our partners in the Holding Company, they should be ponying up some funds for this munition business right, especially as we're putting it on our land? That does lead to the question of if you want a 3 way split on the factory you guys planned to build thus getting some of your money back, Or going for a larger site elsewhere on the planet with land the others own. This would take longer to get the land zones for industry use. Then again, Alex and Mike both have more spare funds. They could help to invest in an orbital factory module which costs 10 million. At which point you would own 25%.>>28423926>>28423934>>28423936"I have located a gift suitable for particular individual. I'm certain receiving it would bring them great joy.The gift in question is a small memory unit located in the secure storage wing of the Dice Horizon Data Management firm. Take steps to ensure there are no fatalities or your pay will be halved. Avoiding detection entirely will result in a substantial pay increase. If you have not completed this job within 10 days someone else will be assigned."There's a noise from the phone and -again- a coin drops down into the chute at the bottom. "You've been provided with the location of a dead drop. Leave the gift there. Across the street from the dead drop you will find a secure communications terminal. Enter the code on the back of the coin and you'll be given a location where you will find your payment.Attempting to enter the code without depositing the gift would be unwise."
>>28424395See, now this is something we could manage I think. Sneaking without having to kill someone. As for the ammo company we should talk that over with the guys though that orbital factory module is looking pretty sweet right now.
>>28424395>a small memory unit located in the secure storage wing of the Dice Horizon Data Management firm.>a small memory unit in the secure storage wingThat's incredible fucking vague! There better not be more that one memory unit on that entire wing and then tell us "Oh you got the wrong one sorry can't pay you". Anyway, since its Management firm it shouldn't be too terrible difficult to infiltrated and exfiltrated with the memory. Lets find the location and study possible entrances. Also we should stick to assassinations from now on far easier and less complicated.
>>28424395Sneaktime. Perfect.Do we have anything stored at Dice Horizon Data Management?
Stopping here for this week. Game will probably be same time next week.>>28424558>That's incredible fucking vague!Pic related.>>28424568No. They're a small company you'd never even heard of before. A few hours observation of their building reveals most of their data transfers are via hardline or burst transmission to an orbital relay. All of it is heavily encrypted.A small security van arrives or departs every six hours, passing through an airlock.
fyi, if you input a thread that is already archived into suptg, it will simply update the archive it has.Useful if you're worried about the thread falling off page 10 before it checks for new posts again![and I've just done so]Thanks for running TSTG!Looking forward to GLORIOUS SALVAGE and making Baron Winnifred facepalm at what we bring back...
>>28424800Thank you so much for running, TSTG.
>>28424875>Looking forward to GLORIOUS SALVAGE and making Baron Winnifred facepalm at what we bring back...It would be less of a concern for her, as you will be able to sell salvage to whoever you want in the area you're going.
>>28425025True, but I feel like we would always bring something back to sell to winnifred. You know...for old times sake. Also, Thanks for running, TSTG!
>>28425025Speaking of salvage, are we offering deals to any houses that can provide escort to our teams?
>>28425025"Baron Winnifred, I found another half of a super heavy! Little help?"
>>28425025When we get our salvage company off the ground and profitable enough, we need to put together an all-star salvage team to hunt down legends like the Vieona.
