You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

It’s time for school again.

You yawn as you toss your covers off and head straight for the bathroom. A nice shower is what you need to get through the day. Ain’t nobody gonna drag your spirit down. Your spirit is what’s needed today. Got a presentation for English, maybe some managing of the play too.

And that’s not even mentioning the ITL Inspectors.

With your shower done, you dry off, and get dressed in your Fall/Winter uniform. It doesn’t feel as hot as yesterday thankfully enough. You also quickly down your healthily balanced breakfast cereal.

There’s a knock at the door. Surprise surprise, it’s Nancy. “President, you ready for school?”

You open the door, and nod to your staff. “Yep! Let’s get this ball rolling!”

The four of you head down the steps and down onto the street. As the car occasional car passes by, you encounter freshmen who’ve now adapted to the situation, or freshmen who haven’t. Those who have not still carry all their recommended textbooks to school, and those have adapted simply leave it all at home.

It’s usually a slow but steady evolution anyway, you can’t blame them.

Lisa looks over at Nancy. “So, how did yesterday go?”

Nancy shrugs. “Oh, could’ve been better. All kinds of things happened really.”

Lisa looks at you. “Speaking of which, you’re now directing a play, Boss?” You nod back at her. “Sure you can handle that?”

“Course I can!” You pump your fist in the air, grinning. “It’s just some play, plus I really like theatre! I got experience with that kind of stuff!”

Ramirez says, “Weren’t you a tree in last year’s play?”

You sigh. “No. I was the puppeteer for the Audrey II puppet.” You shudder. NOT A FUN TIME. “But anyway, same difference.”

Lisa shrugs. “Suppose I can’t argue with that logic. We’re still short on money though.”

You wave her off. “Ah, I’m sure it’s fine. Once we get some money rolling in from the profits of the play, we’ll be right and dandy!”

The campus entrance is chock full of students coming in, chatting before class starts, rushing off to class, or just goofing off.

Math, HAHA.

… Not so haha, there’s a quiz today.

“Righto, you know the drill, eyes on your own paper,” says the Professor as he passes the quiz out to all the students. You receive your copy, and immediately you’re daunted by the instructions.

SHOW ALL WORK

Fuck.

After all quizzes are passed out, the Professor sits down at his desk. “You may begin.”

Immediately, the scratching of pens and pencils start, all except yours.

You look down at your quiz. It’s a multiple choice, 20 question quiz. Simple enough. You can take the hit to your grade if you don’t show work. You look over at your neighbor. Asian kid.

Oh fuck, she looks stumped. THAT’S WHEN YOU KNOW YOU’RE FUCKED.

You'd be surprised, the final test in maths had a twenty questions multiple choice.

Although I was only doing Maths A, which is the easiest maths that isn't a special needs class.
>>
> Try and do your best

Whatever. You’re not good at math, hell you’re not even particularly smart anyway. BUT A STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT DOES NOT CHEAT OR GIVE UP.

You work intensely on the first question. You’re not entirely sure what the first question even is about but fuck it you’re going to prove the shit out of that bitchass problem.

Second question, solve for the 3rd side of this punyass triangle? Simple as shit. Pythagorean theorem motherfuckers. A squared + B squared = C squared punkass bitch.

Third question. Ha, circumference of the circle on this cylinder? YOU’RE ALREADY DEAD.

Fourth question. What’s this I hear about finding the missing side on this isosceles triangle? BITCH.

All the rest of the questions fall into place for you somehow. The rest of the quiz is about easy enough to guess through. With that, you have a minute to spare before class is over.

Ha, punkass bitch quiz. You probably aced it.

Chemistry thankfully has no quizzes, but of course it’s still pretty damn boring. Nonetheless, the demonstration of base-acid neutralization was kind of cool. Kind of.

English class is your real target though. You got that presentation with DeWitt and everything and…

Where the fuck is DeWitt.

You sigh and sit down. Maybe she’s just running late or something.

The Professor says, “Alright, who wants to present first?”

English was the worst offender, although it made the most sense in context. You needed to read a text and then answer multiple choice questions on the text. Thats about half of the test. Then there was an hour to write an essay or short story that followed the standard structure of whatever you wrote. And then there's a section for written answers about grammar, spelling and writing conventions.

> Don’t raise your hand. Wait until called.

Fuck it. Maybe she’s late. She’ll arrive eventually right?

The first few presentations are relatively fun. There’s a presentation on the martial art of Taekwondo, another on poetry, boxing. However, none of them quite last more than five minutes. You politely applaud, along with the rest of the class, the presentation on the study of the Sacred Band of Thebes.

“Right,” says the Professor as he files out the grades. “DeWitt and Pool… Uh, Miss Pool.” You stand up, might as well get this over with. “No, you don’t have to stand up. Just give me your presentation details and all your written stuff.”

You walk over and hand the Professor your written material. “Uh, can I ask why I don’t have to present today?”

The Professor takes your material and starts grading it right before your eyes. “Well, DeWitt’s still out with the flu I’m sure you know. But, also, she’s transferred to a different English class.”

You slowly nod. “Okay then.” You quickly return to your seat. Not gonna press that further.

But DeWitt transferring to a different English? That’s weird as fuck.

Kind of understandable in context maybe, but still. Why would she just transfer out? Is it because of tanks? It’s probably because of tanks.

You sigh as the last of the presentations continue on.

All of your take your place in, and as you wait, you think. Thinking on it, the Aces’ history with tanks has to be something tragic. Maybe someone got killed, or horribly maimed or injured. What could have happened that could turn them off from tanks?

You’re not looking forward to getting drowned by struggling freshmen, but hell, can you really refuse the coach?

That same bespectacled freshmen you keep encountering in this gym class ends up as your de facto student for the day. You also have a lot of other freshmen to tutor, but they pick up on the concept of “don’t hold your fucking breath underwater” really quick. They’re all treading water and swimming at reasonable speeds by the time you’re done with them.

This particular freshman though…

“Please stop trying to drown me,” you say. She pants as she recovers from yet another terrible experience of trying to tread water in the deep end of the pool.

“S-Sorry,” she says in between gasps. She spits out some chlorine filled water. “J-J-Just. Don’t know how to swim really.”

“Clearly.” You toss the freshman’s arm over your shoulder and start paddling for the edge of the pool. “Maybe we should start you back on the breast stroke.”

She nods. “Fine with me.”

“What’s your name anyway? I see you a lot in this class.”

The freshmen says, “Wilfred Hanna. My friends call me Willie.”

You nod back. “Gertrude Pool. Sophomore Class President.”

“Okay, the important part of swimming is kicking and rhythm. You need both to propel yourself. Keep your body straight, and you’ll go straight.”

Hanna nods. “Alright. I got this.” She kicks herself off the edge of the pool and promptly sinks into the water.

Well, that could’ve gone worse you suppose.

You quickly dive down and drag back to the edge. The minute she surfaces she starts flailing her arms, coughing and gasping for air until that one particular moment.

You look down and see that her hand is firmly grasping your tit.

Hanna has stopped her panicking to observe this, then awkwardly look at you. She quickly withdraws her hand, blushes, and grins nervously. “Ehehehe… my bad.”

Freshmen.

You hit the showers and start washing away the chlorine. It’s all good, but you did notice that Joanna is still absent from the class. Maybe she’s ditched the class like DeWitt did. That’d be a real bummer.

Hanna walks up to you as you shower, towel wrapped around her body. “Hey, uh, Gertrude. Sorry for uh…” she scratches the back of her head, blushing. “You know.”

“Oh, it’s fine, Willie. Happens to the best of us.” You dump some shampoo on your head and start scrubbing deep.

Hanna says, “I guess.” She seems to try and deliberate over her words, then says, “Say, you’re running the Tankery team right?”

You nod. “That’s right. Why?”

Hanna sighs, scratching her chin. “Well, I was just wondering, I mean uh…” she absentmindedly waves her hand around. “Uh… tanks.”

You nod again, smiling. “Yeah, tanks.”

“To be frank, I don’t know anything about tanks! Uh… could you maybe, uh…” She sighs, burying her face in her hands. “Could you do me a favor?”

“What do you need from me?”

Hanna looks around, then says, “Well… I’m a big fan of animation, okay?”

You nod. “Okay…?”

Hanna continues and says, “And I know this school does have an Animation Club, but, they’re not accepting new members.”

You scratch your chin, you got this figured out. “You want me to convince the Animation Club to let you in.”

She nods violently, a twinkle in her. “Oh yes! Yes! If you could, recommend me or something, or do… I don’t know, SOMETHING to get me in their club, that’d be great!”

Truth be told, you know nothing about the Animation Club. Hell, there are rumors that they stalk Marshall Ney Forest in search of souls to consume, which should really tell you something about what kind of people they are.

Hanna looks at you hopefully. “So, will you do it?”

Theatre as well, surprisingly goes by relatively well. You actually managed to sleep through it without nobody asking you to do party quirks. Roberta must still be passive-aggressively ignoring everyone, and you’re completely okay with that. French as well goes by without a hitch.

Your staff will probably meet you at the Sports Warehouse anyway. It’s time to meet the ITL Inspectors. Maybe they’ve already arrived. True to your word, as you walk up to the Sports Field, you see Captain Dubois’ Sheridan tank parked next to a new tank. A very Abrams looking tank. Interesting.

You walk up closer, and see Captain Dubois and another woman, dressed in a green dress uniform. Her appearance suggests she’s Japanese.

Captain Dubois notices you and waves, “Hey! Gertrude!”

You walk up to the two of them. “Hey, Captain.” You look over at the new lady, curiously. She smiles at you. She must be nice.

Captain Dubois gestures to her. “Gertrude Pool, this is Captain Ami Chouno, JSDF.”

Captain Chouno nods and offers her hand. “Pool-san. It’s very nice to meet you. Captain Dubois tells me much about you.”

You shake her hand. “It’s nice to meet you too, Captain Chouno.”

Dubois smiles, crossing her arms. “Ami here is one of the ITL’s Chief Inspectors, she also does a lot of instructing from time to time.” She goes down to your level. “She actually taught the girls at Ooarai, the ones that pulled out the Tournament from under Black Forest Peak’s feet.”

You nod. Some of those words are familiar.

Chouno speaks in surprisingly good English and says, “I did not actually do much. It was all in the Nishizumi style after all.”

Dubois shrugs, smirking. “Pfft. You don’t do much of anything, Ami.” Chouno playfully punches Dubois in the arm. “Anyway, Pool, the inspectors are fixing up the tanks, if you’d follow me.”

Dubois leads the both of you into the Warehouse where, true to her word, a lot of ITL officials are fitting your tanks with all sorts of computers, carbon lining, and other things that you don’t particularly understand. A couple of questions are in order here.

“So, it’s all safe right?”

Ami nods. “Tankery rounds are designed not to penetrate.” She lifts up a 75mm round meant for your Sherman with surprising ease and shows you the bottom, revealing a small gray little box. “When the shell hits the tank, this little chip on the bottom of the shell sends a signal to the judging computer implanted in the tank, which instantly calculates penetrating damage, spalling, etc.”

Dubois adds, “Plus, the tanks are fitted with uparmored crew compartments, including a special carbon lining which softens the impact of shells in the event that a shell DOES penetrate. It’s also a shock absorber incase the tank does a flip.”

You nod, scratching your chin. “Okay, I think I understand.”

Dubois notes, “While the safety system does work. Accidents can occur. ITL usually has ambulances on standby in case something happens.”

Ami nods, smiling. “So, yes, it is safe.”

You cross your arms, looking down at your line-up. “Good, good.”

Ami says, “If you’re wondering, yes, your line-up is incredibly unique.”

Dubois says, “It’s versatile is what I’d say.”

Ami nods, agreeing with her. “Versatile. I like that.”

“Octavia, what you are doing here?”

Octavia sighs, shrugging. “Well, I came by to see your line-up.” She looks at the line up of tanks. The GMC, the KV-1S, the Panther, the Sherman, the Stuart, the S35, and the Churchill I. Expressionless, she positively trots over to the Panther, then feels the cold iron of the front glacis plate. You could almost see a smile on her face.

You walk over to her, “Octavia?”

Octavia coughs, clearing her throat and taking her hand away from the tank. “Uh… yeah. The initial production Panthers were kinda shit, but I’m sure you can make lemons out of lemonade here. If you’re smart that is.”

You nod. “I am, in fact, smart.” You cross your arms. “Unlike your former teammates.”

She says, “Look, they’ll come around. Maybe later than sooner. Just give them some time.”

Well, can’t argue with that.

IC knowledge needed. Like, throwing a track off and setting the engine on fire is enough for that white flag to pop.

As you and Octavia talk, the Captains show off the judging system to your staff.

“When a penetrating shot either ‘kills’ the crew or renders the tank completely inoperable, a little white flag will pop up.” Ami hits a button, and like that, the M4’s little white flag pops up out of the top of the turret.

> KO: M4 SHERMAN (COMP. SPEC.)

“These flags are fitted on all sides of the tank as well, in case of flipping.”

Dubois adds, “Mobility and weaponry kills also count towards the judging system as well.” She quickly disassembles a tread off your Sherman and tosses it aside.

> MOBILITY KILL: M4 SHERMAN (COMP. SPEC.)

Ami presses another button, and a puff of smoke bursts out of the barrel.

> WEAPONRY KILL: M4 SHERMAN (COMP. SPEC.)

Octavia nods. Of course she’d know this stuff. You say, “So, Octavia, I did talk to your former teammates the other day and well…”

Octavia interrupts you. “They didn’t take it lightly, did they?”

“No.”

Octavia crosses her arms. “Well, I don’t blame them. Michelle and Wendy especially.” She leans back on the Panther, and you do as well.

You ask, “So, what exactly happened?” Octavia looks at you. “Not to say-“ you immediately regret this decision. “I mean-, I’m just curious- you don’t have to… say anything.”

Octavia looks forward at the wall, away from you. “We fired a shot we shouldn’t have, someone got hurt. That’s why we’re so keen on not doing Tankery again.”

You’re humbled for a few seconds, then say, “I see. Still a sensitive topic?”

Chouno nods. “Likewise. I firmly believe that greatness can come from small things.”

You nod back. “Really.”

Dubois shrugs. “Well, if you want us to blunt, your line up is incredibly… difficult to describe. On the one hand, you’ve got about an even mixture of tank classes, but on the other hand… they’re all very unique.”

Nancy says, “The judging system is so sophisticated! I still feel a little nervous though.”

Lisa pats Nancy’s shoulder. “Ah, don’t be a wuss, Nancy. It’ll be fine! It’s not like anyone ever died in a tank!”

“It’s not like anyone ever died doing Tankery!” she quickly interjects.

Ramirez says, “Nice save.”

You put your hands on your hips, looking at your tank. “Well, tomorrow we got Tankery practice, girls. I’m sure we’ve got a lot more to learn about Tanking and stuff like that.”

Seconding this (>>28326812). I got a feeling we're about to be thrown into a practice match against one another, so another CompSpec tank is a must.

“Alright then,” you rub your hands together. Progress is being made. You love progress.

The ITL officials run up to Captain Chouno and say something to her in Japanese. Chouno nods and says to Dubois, “It appears we’re done! All your tanks are now Tankery Legal!”

Dubois smiles, patting Chouno on the shoulder. “Great! It was a real treat seeing you again, Ami. Don’t be a stranger you hear?”

Chouno nods. “I hear you.” She looks over at you. “As for you, I expect great things from you.”

You offer your hand. “Thank you for today then, Captain Chouno. I won’t let you down.” Captain Chouno politely shakes your hand, then she and the ITL Officials take their leave in their wickedass tank.

Captain Dubois walks up to you. “Captain Chouno ain’t no fool. She knows when to intervene and when not to.” She pats your shoulder. “And like her, I do expect great things from you.”

You blush, scratching the back of your head and smiling a bit. “Oh, thanks, Captain Dubois.”

She snaps her finger. “Anyway, I gotta hit the road. See you tomorrow.” She climbs up into her Sheridan, then drives off.

You look back into the Sports Warehouse, and note that Octavia is still leaning on the Panther, straight up at the ceiling.

Your staff is also talking amongst themselves near the Sherman.

Octavia shrugs. “It was bound to come out soon, I’d prefer sooner rather than later. It’s not like anyone died or anything.” She checks the time. “Whoops, looks like I should head out.” She stands up straight and gives one last longing pat of the Panther. “You know, the Panther’s my favorite tank.”

You smile. “Really?”

Octavia snickers as she leaves. “Oh, you could ask Kate, she prefers the old Tiger.” She stops and quickly turns back to you. “Speaking of which, wanna know what we named our Tiger?”

“The Steelmuncher.”

“Let’s head on to Kitten’s place. She’ll want to be briefed on the situation anyway.”

With that, you lock up the tanks and leave the sportsfield and head for the dorms.

Lisa says, “I think today went pretty well. I get to ace a math quiz, we get tanks, all that kind of stuff!”

Nancy ponders on it. “I just hope tomorrow’s gonna be light work. I get the feeling the Instructor’s gonna throw us into battle.”

You wave Nancy off. “Captain Dubois ain’t gonna do that. She knows we’re inexperienced. It’ll be a terrible thing!” Actually, you’re pretty much aware that she will do such a thing, but there’s no need to let Nancy know that.

Lisa rubs her stomach. “Still, I’m hungry as all hell. You cooking for us Nancy?”

Nancy smiles, something that she likes for once, “Yep! I’ll see what Kitten has to offer us!”

“If I know Kitten,” you say, “It’ll probably just be nothing but instant noodles, soda, and chips.”

“Oh, Kitten keeps herself active by cleaning her dorm. Somewhat excessively, but she does keep a rather shapely figure…” You think on it now. Kitten and a nice guy she can relate to. Someone she can play video games with, someone she can talk anime and movies with, someone she can trust to rely on and vice versa! Oh, that’d make so happy.

Wait a second, you just described yourself.

FU-

Nancy says, “Well, since Kitten doesn’t have a lot in her kitchen, how about we stop for groceries then?”

You nod. “Sure, sounds good.”

Thankfully and quite conveniently, a grocery store happens to be on the way to the dorms. The four of you enter in, and you’re immediately immersed in chilly air-conditioning. You quickly exhale and rub your hands together.

Nancy asks, “So, what do you want for dinner?”

Nancy nods. “Of course, President!” She looks over at Ramirez and Lisa and says, “Would you two mind helping me pick stuff out?” They all follow Nancy into the shelves. With that, you decide to wander around.

The grocery store is not exactly populated, because by now people are eating dinner either at home or a restaurant. You see the occasional student pick out some instant noodles but that’s about it.

You wander over into the drinks section. Maybe an eight pack of soda would be nice or-

You stop suddenly in your tracks. Odd, you don’t see anything blocking your path.

“Pool.” You look down. It’s O’Hara, again stuffed right into your chest. You quickly step back.

“Sorry, O’Hara, it’s just…” you look down at her. “You’re so… short.”

O’Hara nods. “Well, stop your lights there. I hadn’t noticed.” She’s carrying a basket full of what appears to be fruit and cans. Gotta admit, the girl must eat healthy. “So, what brings you here?”

“Well, I was just wandering around. My staff’s buying groceries. We’re gonna have dinner later.”

O’Hara adjusts her glasses a smidge, and then sighs. “Good for you.”

“So…” you shuffle a bit in place. “How’s your day going?”

O’Hara shrugs. “Went fine. Me and O’Brian are off duty for now, so I’m taking the time to buy meself some groceries.” She shows you the basket of things.

“Cool, cool,” you say. “How is O’Brian, anyway?”

She puts her free hand on her hip, unamused. “O’Brian’s sleepy as fecking ever.”

“You two room together right?”

O’Hara looks tonguetied, and she’s still incredibly blushed after that incident with O’Brian. “O-oh… I don’t know. I mean, uh… eh?”

“Should I take that as a yes?”

She sighs, crossing her arms. “… Fine.”

O’Brian immediately rolls back into view. “So, she is-“ She’s immediately greeted by a banana to the face. “OW! Cunt.”

With that in mind, O’Brian pays for her own food and leaves, happy to get some sleep without O’Hara messing things up. With that in mind, you explain to your staff that O’Hara is gonna have dinner with you all.

Nancy beams. “Excellent! It’ll be so nice to have a new face to talk to!”

O’Hara crosses her arms. “Yeah, yeah. Just no hugging or kissing or anything.”

Lisa says, “Actually, why are the other hall monitors so mean to you? That’s something I want to know.”

O’Hara says, “Because I’m mean to them. That’s how Irish people do.”

Lisa says, “They seem pretty particular about the fact that you’re a lesbian.”

“I’M NOT A-“ You stuff one of O’Hara’s apples into her mouth.

“Now, relax, O’Hara,” you say. She simply takes a bite out of the apple and frees it from the clutches of her mouth. “We don’t care if you’re straight, gay, bi, or transsexual. This is America. You’re free to be whatever you want!”

Ramirez says, “Technically, we’re not in America.”

“Same difference, Ramirez.”

O’Hara scoffs, a tinge of red in her cheeks. “Honestly, I don’t know where these rumors start. Those fecking cunts will come up with anything to amuse themselves.”

With that, you arrive at Kitten’s dorm. You knock on the door, and after a minute of waiting, Kitten answers, clad in her school uniform. “Hey, Kitten,” you say. “We came for dinner!”

Kitten looks at the stuff in the bags. “Awesome! Come in! Take your shoes off though, I just cleaned the floor.”

All of you enter into Kitten’s recently cleaned dorm room. You can smell the air freshener and other cleaning products used in this undertaking.

Can we get a new sub-quest: Find a conversational-subject Ramirez might actually give her non-prompted thoughts on?

> Talk with O’Hara

“So, O’Hara, how are things with you?”

O’Hara is curled up at the foot of the bed, looking less than amused at all this friendly interaction. “Well,” she begins, “I suppose I could be doing worse.”

You sit down next to her. “Oh, come on, O’Hara. We’re all friends here!... technically, I mean, we don’t really know you all that well and you do associate with people who fuck us over a lot, but hell that doesn’t mean we don’t want to know more about you!”

Kitten says, “Yeah, I’m interested in hearing why you got into Law Enforcement Studies.”

O’Hara puffs her cheeks. “None of your concern.”

You say, “Of course not, but it’d still be pretty interesting.”

O’Hara waves you off. “Oi, I don’t ask you which side of the bed you wake up on in the morning. I’m just here from some free food. Maybe a movie too.”

Kitten says, “Yeah, I decided to pick out Gettysburg for-“

“GETTYSBURG!?” O’Hara has turned from a soury Irish girl into a very giddy Irish girl. “Oh! I love that movie! The novel’s great too you know, you know! I oughta say the topic of the Civil War is a very interesting thing you know, I tell you what!”

… didn’t see that coming.

Nancy says, “Dinner’s ready!”

I wonder what she thinks about Lincoln (movie).

Switch from thoughts of maid outfits to aprons.
Then snap to reality where Kitten probably has a scarf tied to her hair and a mask over her mouth while using a vacuum cleaner or a feather duster to clean up. She's still cute that way though.

> Get your food.

You quickly snatch up your food from Nancy. “Thanks, Nancy!”

Nancy nods. “No trouble at all!”

Soon, the food is distributed, and Kitten has gotten the projector working. O’Hara quickly sits up front by the bed, ready for some Civil War action and intrigue. You’ve never seen O’Hara like that, Christ.

Then again, you haven’t seen O’Hara all that much since you met her.

You begin digging into your food, and boy howdy it’s delicious. The steak is so juicy and chewy, and the fries simply go crunch crunch crunch motherfucker. Nancy’s right, you definitely need to learn to cook so you can make shit like this.

Kitten turns out the lights and turns on the projector. She holds up the remote.

You say, “Everyone ready?”

“Ready!”

True, true.
Also Kitten has all day to clean up, hardly fair to compare her place to the rest of you.

Archive anyone?

I got a couple of questions for those with knowledge on tanks.

>76mm gun M1
>75mm gun M3
1.) Are these guns Sherman exclusive, or are they compatible with other Allied vehicles/platforms?

2.) Is this also the same case with the Valiant's 75mm gun, or does the gun itself have its own set of problems like the tank itself?
>>
>>28329800
Thanks for running, boss.
>>
>>28330095
Valient is a terrible tank overall.

The 76mm is mostly sherman exclusive

the 75mm might be used to outfit a chuchhill mark 3/4

Isn't we finished one when we have gunnery practice several threads ago?
