Once again timing it perfectly with the apex of my leap, the spell's wings of light form at my back and take me into the skies. After taking note of my bearings, I then proceed stright for my family's mansion.

Flying is always such a pleasant sensation... if I could, I would so all of the time. And since it is now the middle of autumn, I have no need to worry about flying into wayward insects. As such, I am allowed to simply admire the scenery from so high up.

After a few minutes, I see that I am approaching my destination... time to decelerate and descend.

Yes, I should probably go to see if Matthias is done packing... following your suggestion, I head to his room and knock on his door again. This time it's not long before he answers.

"Dammit, Monique..." Matthias grumbles as he opens his door, "...the hell do you want now?"
"I just finished my own packing, so I was wondering if you'd done the same," I reply.
"I'm trying to figure out what to bring," he says, sighing. "You already brought down my clothes, so now there's the question of what extra stuff I should bring in my other bag. I'm carrying my ocarina on me, but I have a ton of books that I haven't read yet and it's not realy feasable to bring all of them with me."

"I see," I reply, running a hand through my hair. "Depending on what you're unsure about, might it be a good idea to being one book of each genre? That should cut the volume down a lot."
"Hmm... that sounds like a plan," Matthias replies as he moves to go back inside his room. "...oh yeah," he stops. "Go make yourself useful and ask Michi to take care of my little tree while I'm out. I'd be really pissed to find it dead when I get back because I got dragged along on your little trip."

With that, he closes the door behind him. As I have nothing better to do, I figure that I had might as well do as Matthias says and find Michiko. He's oddly fond of that little tree, after all...

And as I thought, there Marcel is, standing with one foot on a chair and his fist in the air in an exaggerated pose as he regales Michiko with another tale of his boorishness.

"Thank you, I'd much rather not see how he would react if his tree died while we were out due to lack of attention."
"That shouldn't be a problem," she says with a faint smile. "My father owns several, so I'm familiar with their care."

"That al you wanted?" Marcel says to me dismissively.
"Yes," I reply, having no desire to put up with his insults.
"Then get lost."

I then make a cool exit, making a point not to linger around long enough to see his reaction when he finally get it. After all, i'm sure that my dear sister-in-law understood -exactly- what I meant.

The next order of business is to see if Father has gotten done with the preparations for our trip, so I make my way to his study...

"Seriously?" he looks at me with a look of shock. "I'm surprised that you actually managed to convince that layabout to actually leave the house for an extended period of time... no matter, let's head to the carriage. I trust that you've packed your things?"

"Even if you do end up seeing that boy from the army while you're up in Marconetti, I expect you to conduct yourself like the proper gentleman that I raised you to be. If you want revenge, challenge him properly like your great-grandfather would, you hear me?"
"Of course," I reply.

After hugging and kissing each of us a second time, Mother lets us go so that we can finally enter the carriage.
