Salutations, /tg/.
I just had one of the most chill and relaxed birthdays I've ever experienced, and I'm here with you now to begin Digimon quest once again.

The twitter is at: https://twitter.com/DigimonQuest
The archive is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest
The stat sheets are here: http://pastebin.com/u/DigimonQuest
The Storybook is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vIIWBQ-sHlw3PZ4D4yH9hiIl8YiqEVpy1ZUztKlSzzs

Dice Rules: I take the best of the first three, and any crits within the first five. Critical twenties can be stored and expended as save points. Luck rolls can be made to increase (or decrease) chances of success (or failure) on another roll or to influence travel sequences.

Now, I thought I'd give you another opportunity to choose who you're playing as today.

>[] Continue with Daniil in the cavern with kokuwamon
>[] Return to Niklas, wherever he is with Impmon
>[] Check in on Wayne, on the stairway to heaven with Zoe, Aslan, and Sally
>>
>>28213412
Let's continue being Daniil, I want to finish that thign up finally.
Also, hiya GAle.
>>
>>28213412
We've solved the puzzle with Daniil, right?
Time to finally use that.
>>
>>28213412
So how long will this Quest last?
Until Monday or something?

Oh right should vote

Witchmon pic because I like Sally and after this I want to go back to Wayne and her.

It will. I've got no classes tomorrow, so I don't see why not.

>>28214162
It can be done if you use a save point, yeah.

So, we're going ahead with Daniil? If so, I'll begin the writing.

I'm not using twitter, but is there something wrong with it?
Sometimes I don't see any new posts when I check to see if those whose Quests I follow have said anything about posting today.
>>
>>28214234
Well not like we use the 20's for anything else...
When we get to that point, could you tell us how many we have, and we can make a decision?

No one else seems to want to voice any objection to Daniil, so yeah.
After this though, I really want to go back to Wayne.

so sorry, I was caught up in something while writing.

You are Daniil Kravec, stuck in a cavern beneath a trap door in a wasteland, and you are very, very proud of yourself.

It took longer than expected- somewhere around a half an hour, but you have managed to decipher nineteen symbols of the digital alphabet that makes up the entirety of your digivice's coding and texts, thanks to Kokuwamon, your best friend's digimon partner. The robotic beetle gave you the first three letters, and (with some difficulty), Through some trial and error, you translated the first four groups of letters you saw on your digivice into English.

>inter-device communication
>extra-device communication
>skill-data transfer
>partner-link

Kokuwamon has no idea what the options mean, leaving you to decide which you want to try first.

>[] let's go with Inter-device
>[] how about extra-device?
>[] I wonder what skill-data is...
>[] let's see what this partner link is...
>>
>>28215774
Inter means "between".
So inter-device should be "between devices".

Which, well, is what we want right now.
>>
>>28215774
...I'm not sure what Extra-device could be.
That basically seems to be communication outside device?
Or beyond device...

First thing first though, need to try and get inter-device communication so we can talk to our friend Niklas.
I do not like that it took us 30 minutes, so many things could've happened.
...After that though we should try and see what we can do with extra-device communication.

Also, Digimon letters have no equivalent to the letter B?
So they can't, say, write "bake me some bread"?
>>
>>28215856
...Should actually put down what I want to vote, shouldn't I?

[x] Inter-device communication
-[x] Try and get in touch with Niklas, 30 minutes is making you worried
>>
>>28215774
Shouldn't we know what partner-link is, come to think of it?
I mean, that's what Wayne used when he talked to Sally while fighting against that Ogremon.
Together with skill-data to give her a boost.
>>
>>28214585
Missed this; but this basically means that all 3 of the humans we've played as will not be sharing Nat 20's?
>>
>>28215774
Got distracted by anything that's risking the continuation of the Quest today?
>>
Gale, can I ask... which of the two groups is in the tenser position right now?
Niklas and Daniil who've been split apart after being hunted, or Wayne who's going to be face to face with a digi-god?

Also I've been following Princess Guard Quest... is it possible to start using pics when you make posts, as well?
It'd be nice to see - and I seem to remember you had some drawings?
>>
>>28215774
I've already voted, but I would like to know...
If we pick inter-device communication, and nothing bad's happened to Niklas... can we also use the action to check on extra-device?
I've got a feeling that's going to lead to something interesting.
>>
>>28215774
Let's go with inter-device. We can try the extra-device thing later on.
>>
Right then, I think we've got a consensus?
>>
>>28215856
you haven't figured out B. You only have 19 of 26 letters translated.

>>28215911
This is correct. They each have a pool for stored rolls.
there may be a perk in the future that will let you share rolls between player characters, and possibly even NPCs. But then again, reaching that perk is another matter.

>>28216027
Technically, the one in the most immediate DANGER would be Daniil.
The one in the situation with the most potential for screwing up would be Zoe.

As for drawings, I'll be working on and scanning one of them today, possibly. If nothing else, I'll have some character portraits for the four kids you've met so far.

>>28215943
Nothing that bad, and hopefully it won't get that bad.

>let's go with inter-device

You flip the Digivice open and scroll down to the option that you now recognize as "inter-device communication" on the small touch screen of the phone-like device's lower half. From there, a small window opens, and you're given a list of....words. They appear to be names, judging by the varying letter count and usage in each, though several are grayed out and scrambled. You can't read those at all.

Moving on, you notice one name you're able to read- N I K L A S _ _ L U N D. Niklas Bylund, your friend and the one you're trying to communicate with. You note that the name is colored Green, while another is Red and the third is Blue.

Filing that away for later, you bring up Niklas's tab on your digivice. There's a lot of text on the screen now, but thankfully, you don't have to read that; one of the blank buttons bellow the bottom screen has begun to glow green, much like a cellphone's "call" button.

You give Kokuwamon a questioning look, asking if he thinks it's a good idea, and he nods in reply. You bring the device up to your ear, and hit the green button-

Just have Aslan pretend to have a stomach ache or something to distract Zoe so she doesn't say anything wrong.

>13 luck

There's a distinct "beep" in your ear, and then an odd, electronic jingle that resembles a phone's ring sounds for what seems like a full five minutes, but could have only been one at most. Finally, there's another beep, and you hear a voice over the other end.

"...Daniil?" It's Niklas. His voice is tense and hushed, like he's trying to keep quiet. In the background, faintly, you can hear some sort of white noise.

"It's me," you answer. "Kokuwamon and I fell down this..." you pause and crane your neck, looking up towards the now-closed trap door-

wait...now closed? It was open last you saw. You curse under your breath, before returning your attention to the digivice.

"We fell down a trap door. I don't know what triggered it, and now we're in this....this cavern." You hear him curse over the other line in reply, something that surprises you. Niklas almost never curses (which, considering your own foul mouth, is quite an accomplishment). Whatever’s going on topside must be pretty serious.

“Daniil, listen: I don’t have a lot of time before we have to change hiding spots again- you were lucky when you fell down there. I’ll stay in touch, and tell Impmon you’re alright. Try to find some way back to the surface if you can- if not, we may have to get down the same way you did.” Now Niklas is really sounding rushed, and you barely have time to acknowledge what he said before he’s hung up. You share a bewildered look with Kokuwamon, who’s looking very worried now, before something catches your eye-

>perception check, 1d20!

>perception 19!
You spin, keeping whatever it is in your sight-

Only to come face to face with something out of one of those children’s horror movies- Burton, you recall.

It...it looks like a panda. You think. To tell the truth, it only vaguely resembles a bear. The stitches, pipes, and blades all over its body keep it from actually looking like anything nature would come up with.

Its frozen still in mid-step, its attempt at sneaking foiled by your sharp eyes. From what you can see, the bear-like digimon was likely attempting to sneak around your side, though what for, you can’t tell. Now it’s been caught, though, and it knows it. Slowly, its head turns to look straight at you, though “look” doesn’t exactly fit, due to the fact that its eyes are simple crosses stitched into its face.

Behind you, you hear Kokuwamon shuffle slightly; most likely getting ready to attack should the bear-thing make a move.

>You have control

Did it try and sneak up on us as it went around our side, or away from us?
>>
>>28219985

It doesn't have any real facial features, but it kind of looks inherently hostile what with the blades and stuff.

>>
>>28220015
So...
Try and befriend it, while Niklas' digimon is there ready to fight?

Still think we should check if it was sneaking away from us (in which case it likely isn't intending to fight us at least) or if it was sneaking up on us (in which case we should prepare for trouble)

For a long minute, you just stare at the digimon, and it stares at you. It is as incredibly unnerving as it sounds.

Slowly, you bring a hand up, and you notice it tense at the motion. You figure you should say something to relieve some of the wariness.

“...’Sup?”

You truly are a master of language and communication.

The bear doesn’t move for a moment, but then lifts its own arm, a motion that causes a slight grinding sound to come from its joints, in a mirror of your own gesture.

Behind you, Kokuwamon is still prepared to strike should the bear try anything funny. You consider asking him to stand down, but think better of it. Best to have some sort of insurance he won’t attack. After another minute of this standstill, you try again.

“Who are you? And what business do you have with us?” You try to sound confident, but the lack of expression on the bear’s macabre muzzle is still creeping you out. The bear tilts its head, then shakes it ‘no’, causing more of those grinding sounds to come from its neck. You’re starting to wonder how this thing even moved this close without you hearing it coming a mile away.

“No? No...what?” You try to clarify. “Who are you?” The bear only shrugs. “What is that supposed to mean?” The bear doesn’t answer.

This is getting you nowhere.

With a sigh, you run a hair through your short hair, pulling at it a bit idly, while thinking about how you can go about this. It’s not going to answer anything other than yes or no, or so it seems.

>Show it the digivice

"Are you stuck here?" You ask, and the bear pauses, before shaking its head. Alright, progress. "Do you know the way out?" It shakes its head again. What the...

You're not getting anywhere like this. An idea comes to mind, and though it IS risky, you can't think of anything else right now. Still maintaining eye(?) contact with the bear, you lift your other arm, still holding the digivice, into the bear's view, taking note of its reaction.

And react the bear does. It kind of hops, bouncing up and down on its stubby feet, while pointing emphatically at your hand and the black and blue device held in it. Now we're getting somewhere.

"You know what this is?" You ask, and the bear makes a sort of 'duh' gesture, nodding. "And that means you know who I am?" The bear nods. You take a deep breath, and then prepare to ask the IMPORTANT question...

"If you know what this is, then you know why I'm here," You continue, and the bear pauses, and then nods slowly. You're hoping that's a good thing. You look back at Kokuwamon, who still hasn't said anything- normally you'd think he would have, but the guy's really quiet. REALLY quiet. It's kinda creepy.

Anyway, back to the bear. It still hasn't moved, either. Or said anything. Great. It's only just now occurring to you that you're stuck in this place with the two creepiest (no offense to your friend's partner) digimon you know. You try to push past that and get on with it.

"We're here to stop whatever is going on with these dead zones, and we were told that a group called the 'Hermits' would be able to help us." The bear seems to perk up at the mention of the Hermits and points to itself excitedly.

"...You are a hermit?" You venture, trying to interpret the bear's odd boby language. It shakes its head. "You...know where they are?" Emphatic head shaking, accompanied by more scraping noises. It makes you wonder just what the fuck is IN that bear suit. "Can you...show us the way?" More nodding.

You turn back to get Kokuwamon's opinion on this. He's staring at the bear, eyes narrowed in thought. After a couple moments, he sends you a look and nods slowly, while quietly and curtly advising you to be cautious.

Well.

Follow the bear. If push comes to shove, we will just have to fight our way out of any sticky situations. Perhaps we should inform Niklas of what we are doing... mayhap we might accidentally access some kind of data archive on digimon which would identify this 'knife bear'...
>>
>>28235183
...Kokuwamon's Niklas partner.
If we trust Niklas, we should trust this guy.
And if we don't display any trust here, the bad guys have already won since we'll never get anywhere.

So, uh.
[x] trust the bear; he's our best lead
>>
>>28235183
That's Daniil?
Nice!

Really appreciate you doing these sketches, Gale.
>>
>>28235183
Fuck it let's follow the spooky bear.
>>
>>28235183
I remember there being talk about posting pics on twitter; you planning on doing that, Gale?
Would be nice to have these pics around for future threads.
>>
>>28235183
...Can we be ready to communicate with Niklas if we're heading off with the bear?
>>
>>28235461
Man I hope we're picking the right choice here...
>>
>>28235596
I could do that, though I was going to post one for each character as it focused on them. Ah well.

Also, I have two for Wayne because I couldn't decide on which I wanted to use. I'll put them together and post them as one.

>>28235668
Of course.

the course of action is still open to suggestion.
>>
>>28235769
Might as well send a quick message that Kokuwamon and us are following a spooky bear.
>>
>>28235769
Well you can post the pics here as well?

Yes, yes I can.

Note that these are only rough sketches/drafts and ARE subject to change over time.

If we don't trust the bear, we've hit a dead end.
So that's not something we can really manage...

in the future, period, unless I draw some more later.

Now, then, we're trusting the bear?
>>
>>28236218
Seems so - though nothing says that Kokuwamon shouldn't be ready to electrify the bear if he tries any funny stuff.
>>
>>28236272
Yeah this.

It's not like we have anything better to do.

Don't be a Cosgrove man.

I mean I know that spooky bear is a virus type, and in fact the pre-evolution of Astamon, who I suspect to be the one in charge of the city, but we don't really have any reason not to trust it right now just because it looks eerie.
>>
>>28236760
>>28236784
....I'm the one who made that Gif, though.

And all the [cosgrove intensifies]. And an [AC-Guy intensifies], too.

I just don't have one for me yet.

Also, Gale, we each get to roll twice here, then?
Or do we only get to pick to either roll for Luck or Travel?

you guys are so much fun, you know that?

Alright, then.

>Writing some more
>>
>>28237927
That was the best character in the whole show... I'm still annoyed with how the whole thing ended.
>>
>>28238329
Then rejoice, for there is a visual novel coming soon...I hope.

They announced one that would cover the content of the entire 26-episode series they planned for it to be.
Otonashi will also be very different from what I hear, which will be a welcome change from the standard blank MC we see so much of.

I'm just excited by the prospect of not only finding out what TK's deal was, but the possibility of a Shiina route.

I've always had a thing for klutzy ninjas named Shiina/Sheena.
>>
>>28238421
Man fuck Otonashi...
Could not stand that guy at all.

This is a super-world where we can make whatever the fuck we want! I know! Let's force everyone to go into the other, shittier, world!

TK should've been the main character, that would've been great.
>>
>>28238600
To be fair, That WAS the ENTIRE purpose of the super world in the first place. It wasn't even meant to be BE a super world until some kids got that bright idea. And staying in the Super World means you never find peace. Ever. Hell, it was wanting to stay in the super world that made things go full retard towards the end- the shadows were the result of wanting to be happy in purgatory, which just isn't a thing that can happen.

So while Otonashi was a complete dork, he was doing the right thing.

Also, this post is gonna be a two-parter, and once it's done....well, that's another choice for you guys.
>>
>>28238673
Well who made him king who's allowed to decide for everyone what should be done?
...Sorry, I'm just a little annoyed at the ending, don't think I can be rational about this. This sort of stuff just bugs me
>>
>>28238712
He gave them all the option, and they all took it. It was THEIR choice, and failing that, Yuri (the ACTUAL leader) did give them the order.

She WAS the king, more or less, if that helps.
>>
>>28238742
Eh, fair enough.
Still don't like it - giving me these characters and these settings and then expecting me to be happy when they all go away... I just can't do that, I get too invested in stuff
>>
>>28237927
>Luck: 19!
>Travel:...1

This bear is your best bet for finding the hermits right now...not to mention the way out of this place, if one even exists. It wouldn't do to threaten him, either- he might just leave without you.

"Could you show us the way, then?" You ask, keeping your voice friendly and pleasant and an eye on the bear at all times. The thing doesn't move for a while, then slowly nods, silent as ever. Then, before you can thank it, it scampers off into the darkness of the humongous cave, the slight glint of the last vestiges of light playing off the blades in its joints marking its passage through the shadows.

Shit. Shit! If it runs too far, you won't be able to see it!

You take off in pursuit, Kokuwamon buzzing behind you, his claws crackling with electricity to provide a meager, but still much-appreciated light source.

What you can see with the light provided does not comfort you.

The massive sand dune you stood on before was the center of a stone maze, and now you've left the supposed sanctuary for a cold, dark netowrk of tunnels that are still huge enough to fit half your school into.

And then there's the bear.

The bear's fast, and apparently can move WITHOUT making those grinding noises, which makes it even more infuriating to keep track of. Sometimes it'll be to your right and ahead, but once you catch up, it'll dash past you from behind, waving at you to catch up once again. And the whole time, it doesn't say anything, leaving only your own footsteps, your own breathing and Kokuwamon's buzzing to break the unearthly silence in this underground maze.

(1/2)
>>
>>28238803
This goes on for a long time- far too long, it feels. Several times, you think you hear something else in the tunnels with you, but then you'll catch sight of the bear once again, and he'll wave you to the next section of the maze, and the noises will stop. A couple times, he's hung back, and you'll hear a 'snick' noise, before he'll run to take the lead again, not even looking back.

Finally, you notice the air getting less heavy, the tunnels growing less cold. Are you nearing the surface? You hope so. Even with those massive walls, you were beginning to feel claustrophobic in the darkness. Finally, the bear stops, and waits for you to catch up completely, a chance you seize to start breathing properly and catch your breath, rather than catch up. The bear is patient, though, and simply stands there, looking at you. You notice the floor is sloping a bit, and when you look to the bear, it merely points further down the tunnel, where you can see a small pinprick of light in the distance.

"That's....the way out?" You gasp, and the bear nods. before walking towards and then past you, heading back into the maze. You call out to it, but all it does is wave goodbye as it fades into the black, leaving your vision.

Turning back to the exit, you look to Kokuwamon, who's also looking pretty tired (robots can get tired? Huh.), and receive what appears to be a thumbs up from the metal beetle.

Together, the two of you make your way into the light-filled day, and as your eyes adjust...

"Stop right there."

The sharp prick of a razor edge against your throat brings the relief of leaving the tunnel crashing down around you.

You look down and see...

...What.
What the fuck.

GALE.
WHAT THE HELL MAN.
>>
>>28238827
So... did Daniil die?
Because if that is what we got with a 19 luck, I'm getting worried.
>>
>>28238827

Niklas Bylund

we need to regroup with Daniil and Kokuwamon...
>>
>>28238847
...wha-

>>28238904
oh, no-
no, no, he's not dead.

I just left it on a cliffhanger.
>>
>>28238920
Oh, ok.
Well, shit, I don't know...
Niklas, maybe?
>>
So I think we've all learned an important lesson here.
Namely, that bears are assholes.

>>28238920
I didn't mean that in a bad way - I was just expressing surprise; sorry if that wasn't clear
>>
>>28238827
I'd say Niklas. Dude needs his own cliffhanger.
>>
So...
If we pick Niklas, does that mean that the mission will be to save Daniil, and then we can switch over to Wayne?
Or what's the plan here Gale?
>>
>>28238968
I'm hoping he'll man up and get to save Daniil - got to prove the power of friendship in this digimon story!
It'll be like Matt coming to kick Puppetmon's ass, only Niklas won't be a douche!
>>
Thanks for running this, Gale - getting late over here, so I'm heading off.
Will you be running tomorrow, as well?
>>
>>28238977
Niklas is having his own troubles now.

>>28239026
I will not, unfortunately.

And actually, I think this next post will be about the end of this thread.
>>
>>28239047
Ah, shame.
Well, this certainly has proven interesting, will definitely be here for next thread.

If Niklas is having his own trouble right now... yeah, I think we should be as him, because he's the only one who can save Daniil as things stand - who knows, if he manages it we might get that "share Natural 20's" perk talked about.
>>
>>28239047
Well seems we've decided to go with Niklas, which'll be intense.
...I think we should make sure not to start trusting digimon who aren't partners, from now on. At least not until we're walking around with champion/ultimate partners.
>>
>>28239047
Actually, I'd like to ask... since we figured out the code for Daniil, do we need to figure it out with Niklas as well?
>>
>>28238962
Please don't blame the bear. He was only doing what you asked him to.

>>28239159
You will, unless you speak with Daniil at some point.

Now, I've been thinking, and speaking with a friend, and I'd like to apologize. I'm not exactly at my best here, and I may have ended things a bit too early to be satisfactory. To prevent further fuckups, I'm going to end things here, and next thread start fresh and try to make things a bit better.
>>
>>28239477
Ah well, thanks for running then Gale!
Hope it's nothing too bad going on over there.

Also, huh... that spoiler there is interesting.
>>
>>28239477
Hope it wasn't me going 'what' that made you think you fucked up or anything...
Again, didn't mean anything bad by it
>>
>>28239496
>>28239509

If you do have any questions, though, I can always answer those....or not, if they're spoilers.
