I know this is a tough time for the team, but I think we should pick Terra up on the rebound.

OK, so


Since the second time we got lost in the woods, there was a description about a geometric center of the universe, or some creepy shit. And then we woke up back in the cabin with no memory.

And we just saw and noted the location of the geometric thing that was probably being described when we talked to Beast Boy.

And also, from Cyborg we know that there are underground bunkers full of tech junk, which means that the shinanigans that have been going on on this island are probably less pod people related and more tech related or maybe its a VR or something.

So I think if we get the opportunity, we should tag along with Cyborg. I kind of thought that maybe BB could turn into a bloodhound and sniff out Starfire, but maybe he's too emotionally jeopardized or something. Same with Terra. Robin I think its better to let him go solo, because he's a ninja.

Starfire had been medicated and still. The height of her bed exceeded that of the flame; the singular light source; leaving her area of rest in shadows. Her exit was entirely silent, and the attention of every present Titan had been entirely focused on Beast Boy's confession.

Robin sees the change in your attentive stare. He looks to Starfire's bed.

The fire crackles and slides with ashy grinds. Little embers rise out and vanish along the smoky airways exhaled from wounded oak.

Nothing else is seen or heard. No crickets, no breaking waves, no rustling winds.

"Starfire." Says Robin, already on his feet. The word may have been formulated as a question; a call to her; but he is in control now. He does not enter this state of mind to make requests.

The Titans are on their feet. They know something is wrong.

It should not be this quiet. It should not be this dark.

"Cyborg, call the police." Robin commands.

"Signal's already goin' out." Cyborg responds.

"I can sense her." Says Raven, floating with crossed legs above what was previously her seat. "She's in the far forest, but I don't know where. I'm having trouble focusing on anything in that area."

"Alright." Robin begins. "We're going in teams of two. We start at the edge of the forest and fan out. Beast Boy?"

The green Titan doesn't answer. He's on his feet and ready to move; a nod suffices.

"I want you all over that forest. In the sky, on the ground, big or small, whatever it takes."

Again, no answer. Beast Boy vanishes into the shadows behind him as some sort of bird.

You are going to search the forest for Starfire.

Who will your partner be?

You may have chosen the best parter in this regard. Cyborg's shoulder houses a built-in flashlight, which he turns up as the two of you step into the crunching sticks and leaves of the forest floor.

"Stay quiet." Whispers your partner, flipping open a monitor on his arm. "I'm searching for her heartbeat."

On the monitor, several signals are displayed. You can discern the groups; the two on your left must be Robin and Raven. The two on your right must be Jinx and Terra.

But no signal; no pulsating dot; signifies Starfire. Not yet, at least.

The walk goes ever onward, in the direction Raven indicated earlier. Minutes fade into one another; Cyborg watches his monitor diligently.

Until it goes blank, that is.

"Must be a power failure." Says Cyborg as he taps and jostles his arm, within which you assume some amount of circuitry is contained.

Moments pass. He cannot restore his heartbeat monitor to working order.

He gives it one last, hard shake. Little cracks of light go across the screen.

That means it's working. The screen is blank because no information is coming into it.

You make a turn to your right, but pause. It's too dark for you to forge ahead on your own; after a few awkward moments, Cyborg brushes past you to once again assume the lead. You need his light.

The way to Jinx and Terra's last known location is an absolute mess. The tips of your boots drag through puddles of mud and bumped up roots, while the weave of your pants gets caught again and again on prickly bush lines.

Minutes pass.

"I don't know where the police are." Says Cyborg. "We shouldn't be searching alone right now, but there aren't any new heartbeats nearby."

Nothing else is said for some time. You try to hear anything in the distance, but you are unable to. The forest is hushed.

You cannot be certain, but you feel as though you're approaching where Jinx and Terra disappeared.

Cyborg shines his light around the clearing. First, you see an odd pileup of dirt and sticks, roughly eight feet away. To the left of that landmark sits a very large tree, with an impressively wide trunk. Nothing else grabs your attention.

You need to hurry. You have no idea what's going on, and the Titans could be in danger.
