You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

AND IT’S TIME FOR SCHOOL.

Yeah, still can’t get the enthusiasm for that.

You rouse yourself awake. It feels relatively early in the morning, so you decide a nice long shower is in order, especially considering today is the first day of Tankery practice. Gonna see the new instructor, gonna actually ride inside your chosen tank, hell might even fire the gun. That’s exciting.

You throw off your clothes and head into the shower, wonderful that the water’s already running and Kitten’s already ins-

wait

Kitten pauses mid-scrubbing to look at you. “You know, I just had a thought.”

You continue staring at the wall ahead, not really feeling awake just yet. “Oh, what’s that?”

“People might think we’re a lesbian couple.”

“What makes you say that?”

[1/2]
>>
>>28087910
[2/2]

“Oh, just a hunch.” Kitten returns to scrubbing. “While you’re here, mind getting my back.”

You yawn. “Sure.” You dispense some body wash into your hands and quickly start rubbing Kitten’s back. She sighs in relief. Showers would be a lot easier and more efficient if one could actually reach there. “So, Kitten, you excited for today’s practice?”

She shrugs. “Sure. Why not. Get to play with tanks. Not looking forward to going to school today though. What about you?”

“Oh, I’m perfectly excited!” you say. You can already feel the energy coming in. “We’ve got an instructor coming in, the Panther’s probably already renovated and ready, all kinds of stuff to be done!”

Kitten nods. You already start to work scrubbing her hair as well. “You know,” she says, “I do have to admit, I am kind of excited for school.”

You beam. “Really? Awesome!”

“If only to actually go outside.”

“You’ve suddenly ruined it.”

“You say that as if it doesn’t occur regularly.”

You sigh. Progress at least.

Your shower is then completed and soon, the both of you are in uniform. However, you’re not entirely satisfied with Kitten’s uniforms. The small details mostly. You adjust her tie, you raise her skirt up, you even decide on some fashionable thigh-highs.

“Goddamn it, Trudy. I’m a schoolgirl, not a hooker.”

Okay, scratch the thigh-highs.

A knock comes at the door. “Kitten?” It’s Nancy. “You there?”

“Oh, hey, Boss,” says Lisa. “What are you doing in here?”

You say, “Me and Kitten had a bit of a sleepover last night. You know how it goes.” Everyone nods in agreement. They do. Kitten comes out a minute later ready, apparently ready. “Ready for school, Kitten?”

“As I’ll ever be,” she says.

“You know, yesterday, I found out that some Tankery aces go here.”

Lisa looks surprised. “Really? Who are they?”

You count them off on your fingers. “Well, there’s Kate Knispel, Ramirez and I saw her a couple of days back. Michelle DeWitt, she’s in my English class. There’s Wendy Kniep. Joanna Bolter too. There’s also Octavia Carius. They’re all split up though.”

Ramirez says, “Octavia’s actually in my Theatre Tech class.”

All of you look at Ramirez, surprised. “You take a Theatre Tech class?” you ask.

Ramirez nods. “Surprised?”

“… Actually, not really. Now that I think about it, no.”

“Speaking of tanks,” says Lisa, “our Instructor’s supposed to arrive today. Haven’t seen eye or ear of them anywhere though.”

“Maybe they’re just running late,” says Nancy.

“The Army run late? Inconceivable,” says Lisa.

The five of you arrive at the campus front entrance with plenty of time to spare. The school appears to be abuzz with activity, mostly students excited that it’s Friday even though it’s Thursday. One can dream though.

Kitten crosses her arms, frowning. “I don’t want to be stuck with kids who are not exactly hipsters but are pretty much hipsters.”

You scoff. “That’s… actually… yeah, that perfectly describes my Theatre class.”

Nancy says, “Theatre kids are like the weird kids who are popular only because they don’t have any sense of shame.”

… Wow. Nancy.

You cross your arms. “Well, we are supposed to do Red Dawn: The Musical this fall I think. I wonder how that’s gonna go.”

Ramirez shrugs. “It’s gonna be the actors messing around and not memorizing their lines and us tech kids having to do all the work and in the end the play’s totally gonna go to shit because all the actors either keep trying to improvise or keep trying to hard to sound like they can sing well.”

“You know, Bolter, I’ve been meaning to ask.”

Bolter raises an eyebrow, still smiling. “Sure, what’s up?’

“You used to take Tankery right?”

Her smile immediately drops into a frown. Oh boy. She says, “Uh… yeah. Used to.”

You clap your hands together, what are the right words for this? “Well, I’m reviving the Tankery Program here at Lafayette you know? And I figure, maybe your experience would help?”

Bolter looks conflicted. She gestures over to the court, “How about we talk after the game, okay?”

“Yeah, sure.”

Joanna leaves to form her team, with less of a bounce in her step.

Welp, you suppose it’s time to play some handball.

The teams are divided up into ten per team. Joanna is leading the opposing team, and everyone else elects you as the informal leader. They’ve really got to stop doing that. Regardless, you’re here.

“So,” you ask them all as you’re huddled together. “You all know how to play handball?”

They all shrug and mutter. That’s as good as it’s gonna get you’re afraid.

“What’s the plan?” asks one of them, a bespectacled freshman who looks more at home in Pottery than PE.

What is the plan?

Fuck it.

“Let’s just get in there and give ‘em hell.”

Your strategy of aggression works, gaining several early points. Then Joanna starts carrying her team, and then suddenly the tables are turned. With your team tired out from the aggressive play early on, they’re unable to keep up with the seemingly undefeatable Bolter. She’s not only able to outrun you, but she’s accurate with a handball, throwing shots in between your goalies legs at one point.

In the last few minutes, Joanna has the ball and has used all three of her steps. She makes a long distance throw for the goal. You, being the hero you are, decide to try and block the shot. You throw yourself in the path of the ball.

“OH! That’s gotta hurt!”

The next second, you’re the ground, clutching your breasts in pain.

THAT FUCKING HURT.

Joanna looks down at you, laughing a little bit. Looks like her energy’s back. “You okay?” she asks.

“Oh, I’m fine! Perfectly fine!” you say as you struggle to stand up. Joanna catches you as you nearly fall over. “Pain’s just weakness leaving the body after all!”

“I wouldn’t call getting hit in the boobs by a fastball just a bit of pain.” She supports you as everyone begins heading to the showers.

As soon as you feel that hot water hit you, your pain pretty much melts away. But GOD getting hit in the breasts hurt. That must be what it feels like for guys to get in the crotch. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear like there’s any lasting damage.

You still lost though. The only lasting damage there is the damage to your ego.

Joanna showers next to you, whistling innocently.

Oh right, tanks.

She looks over at you, any happiness faded away and replaced with skepticism. “So, starting up the Tankery program then?”

Joanna sighs. “I can’t.”

“Why not?”

She shrugs, facing away from her and resuming her shower. “Oh, lots of different reasons. But, you know, we all swore off Tankery after Middle School. Never do it again, we all said. Besides, there’s better stuff to do with my time.” She says this, uncharacteristically saddened.

You decide looking for your staff is a safe bet first. You decide on the Courtyard first.

“Hey Boss!” You find your staff already on their way there. Wow, that was actually pretty easy. You walk up to them, “Good day at school?”

You shrug. “Eh, same old, same old.”

All of you arrive at the Sportsfield, behind all of your crews surprisingly enough. The Naval Studies Engineers have even brought all your tanks out in a neat line outside of the warehouse. The crews have divided amongst their little cliques, but once they see you, their commanders all come to greet you.

“Hey, Gertrude!” Cathy says. “We were just wondering, which tanks are we gonna be using?”

Marina crosses her arms. “Dibs on the KV.”

Samantha pumps her fist. “Bigger guns equal bigger boom! We get the one with the stupidly big gun!”

“Hey Marina. Excited for practice today?”

“So why are you so interested in planes anyway? No offense I mean, just a bit curious.”

Jenny says, “Well, our families have a bit of aviator blood in them. My grandpa actually flew an Airacobra during the war.”

“Airacobra?”

Marina clarifies, “P-39 Airacobra. It was a fighter, used a couple of fifties and a 37mm gun in the propeller. Very interesting design by Bell really.”

Lidya says, “I’m more of a fan of the P-40 myself. Rugged design, versatile.”

Hm. You know that plane, it was in that crappy Pearl Harbor movie where it takes two hours to get to Pearl Harbor then keeps going afterwards. That movie sucked.

Anna shrugs, smiling. “Well, can’t compete with the French I suppose.”

Samantha butts in. “Well, it ain’t gonna compete with our fuckhuge gun!” Megan Enfield, one of the Rifle girls, comes in and offers her hand. Samantha immediately slaps it, looking smug. “Yeah!”

Anna looks at them skeptically. “Really. You think that” she points to the BT-42, “is going to outperform that?” she waves over at the much cleaner S35.

Samantha crosses her arms. “Heh, you say that as if you know anything about guns.”

Janek raises her hands defensively. “I’m just saying. We probably have the only decent tank here.”

You pop in with, “What about the Panther?”

All of them look at the Panther. “What about it?”

“It’s a good design, decent firepower, and we just had it tuned up. Surprised no one took it.”

Janek says, “Yeah, I’d rather not go in a German tank.”

Nancy gasps. “What if she knows we’re just some newbie team and decided to just leave us in the dust!?”

Lisa scowls at Nancy. “That’s stupid. We PAID her to come here.”

Kitten crosses her arms, then squints at something in the distance. “Wait.” Everyone looks near where Kitten is looking. “Is that a Hercules?”

You squint as well. Yep, a C-130J Super Hercules, bearing down on the ship. “Ah, maybe she’s just landing now.”

That Hercules is getting REALLY fucking close.

Lisa says, “Aren’t they past the airport?” The droning of the propellers start becoming louder and louder. You and the crew are suddenly within it’s shadow. The back of it opens up, and you can see parachutes. Airborne infantry? No way.

Fuck safety, you stay where you are.

The others follow your example and stay they are too, but they look as if they’re ready to run. You don’t blame them, you came pretty close to just running.

The airdropped tank rests on a platform supported by parachutes, coming in at a near horizontal angle. It hits the sportsfield, skidding and kicking up dirt like a racecar. The parachutes snap off, as do the cables tethering the tank to the platform. It barrels through half the length of sportsfield and comes to rest in the center, with you being on the furthest end.

The tank’s engine then starts up and it immediately drives away from the platform and drives towards you. You can just feel the awe coming from the team, yourself included, as it drives up and comes to a stop near you.

The cupola opens up, and out pops a woman clad in Officer dress. She takes off her helmet and lets free her short brown hair. She looks at you with the determination that only the US Army can offer.

“Afternoon, girls!” she says.

You walk up, still in disbelief at what you saw. This tank definitely isn’t an Abrams. The Officer looks down at you. “You must be Gertrude Pool!”

You nod. “I am.” The Officer hops down. You can see the patches designating her part of an armored regiment. You also notice the best thing ever about her: No Recruiter’s badge. She’s here to teach. You offer your hand. “You are…?”

She shakes it, all smiles and sunshine. “Captain Jeannette V. Dubois. US Army Armor School. I heard you needed an Instructor so I brought the Sheridan out here with me.”

You nod. “Sheridan?”

She smiles, a chance to explain her tank. “M551 Sheridan Tank. Built to be air-dropped into conflicts while packing a lot of punch with a 152mm gun. And they call it a light tank.” She snickers. “A light tank!” She stops her snickering just long enough to look at you. “So, I’m guessing your crews and tanks are in order?”

“They’re as ready as they’ll ever be.”

Captain Dubois looks over at your tank line up and your crews. Her smile immediately drops a bit. She nods. “Hm. Yeah, interesting.” She walks over, the crews all regard her with awe and amazement. She gestures them over and says, “Now now girls, don’t be shy. Gather round.”

The girls all crowd around her front, looking curious. Captain Dubois crosses her arms and says, “My name is Captain Dubois. I’m here to teach you all the art of Tankery.” You stand next to you, looking as professional as you can. “As I can see from your line up, this is going to be a real challenge. But, I haven’t given up on grown men and women twice your size, I won’t do it now. I’m guessing your tanks haven’t been fitted with the standard Tankery safety gear yet?”

You shake your head.

“Got the shells?”

You shake your head again.

“That’s alright, I brought my own.”

The Hercules quickly makes another pass and drops a crate down onto the sportsfield near where Dubois landed. “Now, how about we start simple. First team to make it to that crate wins. On your mark, get set, go.” The crews all look around confused, then quickly realize the situation and run to their tanks.

>>
>>28091938

The Panther is one of the best tanks we have available, why the fuck shouldn't we keep it on the frontline instead of using it as a tool to stroke your ego?

I'd prefer to save it for the Aces and let them get some proper use out of it.
>>
>>28091909
Yeah I'd prefer we ditch the Sherman for now and lead in the Panther. If I have to choose between a Panther or a Sherman at the sidelines, fuck the Sherman. We can relinquish it to Team Iron Cross as soon as we recruit them.

The Panther is too valuable to sit idle. On the other hand, while 150km operational range of the final drive is more than enough for one tank battle, it's gonna be an expensive bitch to maintain, so for training the Sherman will do.
>>
>>28091965
>150km operational range of the final drive

That is pretty goddamn terrible, can't we replace it with something less fragile? It isn't like it's going to affect its actual performance outside of maintenance issues.

HAHA, TIME FOR TANKS

“Lisa! Get the engine running!”

You quickly run over to your Sherman. Your staff immediately but clumsily head inside the hatches, with you going in through the turret hatch.

The cozy atmosphere of the tank is offset by the fact that it’s FUCKING DARK and you can barely see shit. “Lisa! Can you get us over there?”

Her response is to turn on the engine and immediately start driving. You need to remind yourself to ask her how she does that shit as if she’s been doing it her whole life.

Your Sherman is quickly the first one off the field. After a few minutes, the SOMUA S35, the Stuart, and the KV-1S follow you. The BT-42 unfortunately throws a track, and the Churchill simply refuses to start. That simplifies things at least.

Lisa’s taking the Sherman to full speed and with that, you’re the first to reach the airdrop by leagues over the other crews. The other crews show up a couple of minutes later, with the Sheridan just close behind. Dubois pops out of the cupola on the Sheridan.

“Right, we got some work to do.”

In fact, I think we should just go Full Jagdpanther and make it the flag tank. The sneaky long-range jagdpanzer tactics complement the necessity of security for the flag. The KwK 43 should be able to deal with anything tournament-legal that isnt classified as super-heavy.
>>
>>28092067
>>28092109

Sweet Zombie Jesus, I just realised that the BT-42 costs 19,000 to upgrade.

Fuck no, that's even worse than the Churchill. At least the Churchill has the LJA and heavy armor going for it.
>>
>>28092137
We should inquire as to how much we can actually get for it from a collector/museum and buy a whole new tank alltogether. The girls like a big gun. That sounds like SU-122.
>>
>>28092109
I'd like to point out that despite their quality, we need tanks at this point.

Period.

We also need crews, but I can't expect German Schteel to give us the same amount of plot armor Oorai had.

The Church has a decent upgrade path if we can get to it, I know nothing about the BT and most think we should sell it, which I am fine with.
>>
>>28092136

Nah, I'm ok with using it as our flag, but I'd rather give it to the Aces when we bring them aboard.

They used to drive a Tiger, so ambush tactics probably aren't their forte.
>>
>>28092154

To be honest, completely overhauling the Churchill is probably going to be way more expensive than just buying a new MK.IV. It's not worth it.
>>
>>28092137

>>
>>28092137

>>
>>28092162
>but I'd rather give it to the Aces when we bring them aboard.
Oh totally, it would just be a waste if we didn't have the best crew in our best tank

>They used to drive a Tiger, so ambush tactics probably aren't their forte.
they were used in the same roles, both favored ambush tactics when they could, the difference being the time period the Tiger did the majority of its fighting, the germans were fighting a long slow retreat, so they'd send 3--4 Tigers and a Bergetiger out and slow the russians, then recover in the night

> Combat Theory

Finally, a class you won’t fall asleep in.

All of you quickly get some chairs and a whiteboard together inside the sports warehouse. With that in mind, Captain Dubois gives her lesson on Combat Theory.

“… in order to maximize the effective thickness of your armor, you’re gonna have to learn how to angle the armor against the opposing team’s guns properly. Taking basic physics into account, the slope creates an effective thickness which increases the chance that a shot will bounce off rather than penetrate. The greater the horizontal angle the shot enters, the greater the chance of bouncing.”

“… Tankery simulation computers take into an account an effect called spalling. Spalling is the effect where metal shrapnel is created by an effective hit, and it’s generally more dangerous than the actual shot itself. A shot will definitely not penetrate, this is all simulated after all, but generally most if not all Knockouts are because a shot has “killed” the crew rather than rendering the tank inoperable.”

“… It’s generally a safe bet to assume a tank has weaker side or rear armor. You must learn the weakpoints of a tank however such as crew compartment, engines, ammo rocks, etc. These points will generally guarantee a faster knock out than if you were just to hammer the front of the armor like a lunatic.”

Amazing. Everyone’s actually paying attention. Even you’re taking notes, and you’re not even entirely sure where you got this notebook from.

> Maneuvering

You sit in the Commander’s seat of the Sherman, Lisa driving. The Naval Studies Engineers have managed to get the Churchill working and they’ve managed to fix the track on the BT-42. Now it was time to learn how to maneuver. You’ve all been giving radio headsets so that you can actually hear what the hell Dubois is saying of course.

All of the tanks roll down the sportsfield with the Sheridan trailing close behind.

“All tanks, turn left!” shouts Dubois. You look down at Lisa.

“Turn left, Lisa!” you say.

Lisa stops the tank. Alright fine. She then applies reverse to the left track and forward to the right track. There’s a very worrying lurching sound, then a very scary metallic snap. The tank lumbers to a halt, the engine still running.

“What was that?” you ask.

Lisa looks back up at you. “No idea, go check.”

Sounded like it came from outside, you pop the hatch and take a look around.

“Lisa!” you shout. “You broke one of our tracks!”

The Sheridan pulls up, Dubois standing in the hatch. “Yeah, probably should’ve warned you, most World War II tanks couldn’t pivot turn.”

“Yeah,” you say. “That probably would’ve been helpful.”

> Gunnery Practice

After a quick fix of your tracks, Captain Dubois has everyone lined up for Gunnery. Simulation rounds were issued to all tanks. Because nobody could decide who to actually use the gun, you decide to take it on yourself.

The sights, as you imagined, of World War II make. It’s pretty simple now that you look at it but unfortunately all the math of it actually escapes you. Fuck it, you can learn it later.

Simulation targets of an A38 Valiant have been set up downrange.

Captain Dubois shouts, “Fire when ready.”

You press the trigger.

BOOM

The shot actually manages to strike the target’s tracks. Not bad considering you didn’t know what you were doing.

With that, the training is completed.

Everyone stands outside the warehouse in front of you, your staff, and Dubois, completely and utterly exhausted, and covered in grime as well. Tanks aren’t the cleanest thing in the world. Dubois however looks elated.

“Excellent job, everyone!” she says. “I see a lot of potential out of all you. Can’t wait until our next lesson!”

You lean over towards Nancy. “When is the next lesson?”

“Tuesday.”

You nod. Fair enough.

“Dismissed!” she says.

You nod. “Well, you’re not exactly what I expected then.”

“Were you expecting R. Lee Ermy?”

“Yeah, kind of.”

She laughs and pats you on the head. “Ah, that’s funny. Well, I look forward to the next training session.” She climbs into her Sheridan. “In the meantime, I’m off to stay at Lafayette’s Five Star Hotel free of charge. Gonna pig out on the buffet.”

You let the hot water hit you and wash away the grime on your face and hands.

Nancy says, “That was really fun! Difficult but fun!”

Lisa says, “Yeah. Learned about tanks today.”

You nod. “Certainly did.”

“I break the tracks once.”

You have a giggle at her expense. “Anyway, Lisa, I was thinking on selling the BT-42. What do you think?”

“But-“ TIME TO BREAK OUT THE BIG GUNS. “Oh for…” You pout your hardest, drawing your face as close as you can. “Stop.” FULL GUILT BLAST BITCH. “Trudy-“ GUUUUILT. “FINE! OKAY!”

You beam. “Yes!” Kitten starts undressing, muttering something indistinct. After a minute, she’s in the buff blushing like… well a schoolgirl. You need to come up with better similes damn it, you’re from below the Mason-Dixon line.

You lead her in, her using you as a human shield as if someone’s gonna pop up and shoot her.

Nancy looks over. “Hey, President. Hi, Kitten!”

Kitten looks away, muttering out a greeting. Nancy looks at you for clarification.

You explain, “She’s never showered in public before.”

Nancy nods. “Ah, I understand. I remember how embarrassing it was the first time I used the showerrooms.”

Ramirez says, “A senior slapped my ass the first time I used them.”

Lisa looks over at you looking desperately like she wants to change the subject. “So, how do you think today went, Boss?”

“I think things went well.”

“Yeah, I was considering either the Crusader or the SU-122.”

Lisa nods. “Yeah, call me tonight to confirm that. I’ll get ‘em bought. Same with the BT-42, I’m gonna need time to find a buyer for it.”

“Alright.”

You continue showering. Kitten is still standing near you, almost sharing your shower. Eh, best not to provoke her, you’ve done enough today.

How much do you guys think we could get for the BT-42?

As far as I know, there's only a single surviving example in the world.

Yeah, but with that said, the Crusader needs to be upgraded to comp spec, which is going to cost a lot. I'm torn between just waiting to see what next week's selection is or just blow the money on the Crusader.

“Hey, girls.” You greet the Rifle team, with Kitten still using you as a security screen. Samantha smiles at you.

“Hey, Gertrude. What’s up?”

“Eh, just letting you know, we might be putting up the BT-42 for sale.”

Samantha nods. “Alright, great!”

You raise an eyebrow. “Huh, I thought you’d be saddened.”

Natalya says, “The BT is a total piece of shit. I’m sure whatever you’ll get us next won’t be.”

You shrug. “We’re looking into something with a bigger gun. No turret, but it’ll be leagues better than BT-42.”

Samantha nods. “Great! We’ll be waiting!”

“Gotta wash, Kitten,” you say as you scrub her back. Kitten sighs, still blushing intensely and keeping her eyes straight and forward. Her gaze was probably in danger of boring holes into the wall.

“Hey, Gertrude.” You look over, Janek in her full naked glory.

“Hey, Janek. You’ve met Kitten, right?”

Kitten mentally screams.

“No, I don’t believe I have,” says Janek. She looks down at Kitten and offers her hand. “Janet Kos, my friends call me Janek.”

Kitten slowly looks over, but keeps her eyeballs on the wall. She shakes her hand. “Carol Smith, my friends call me Kitten.”

Janek snickers. “Cute name, cute girl!” Kitten goes red as a tomato as she looks away.

You say, “She’s shy.”

Janek nods. “I can relate, I was like that in Middle School honestly, wasn’t a fun time.”

You nod, understanding. “Yeah, me and Kitten went through a lot in Middle School. But we’re here now! And we’re doing tanks!”

Janek claps her hands together. “Sweet, anyway, me and the girls are gonna head out for the day. Catch you later.”

You wave them off, “See ya.”

Kitten mutters something.

“Anyway, Anna,” you decide to keep her focused. “How was today? Learn much?”

Anna shrugs. “Oh, the tanks were everything I expected them to be. Dirty, cramped, I actually accidentally groped Mamie a couple of times, and overall, just plain dirty!” Anna sighs, crossing her arms. “But when I fired that gun for the first time, I swear, it was… pleasurable.”

You nod. “Really?”

“Really.”

Cathy and her crew come over. “Hey, Gertrude.”

“Hey, Cathy. What’s up?”

“Hey, Gertrude.” Marina greets you as you start getting dressed in the lockerroom. She’s also getting dressed.

“Hey, Marina, what’s up?”

“Just wanted to say I really enjoyed today. Was really hard, rigorous, and damn if it didn’t make me want to go back to flying. But hey, it was fun!”

You nod, smiling. “Thanks, I really appreciate it. I try to keep as many people as I can happy you know.”

She nods, tapping you on the shoulder. “That’s what I like about you. You know, the KV-1S kinda reminds me of the Russian planes of World War II. Well-armored, decent guns, maneuverable, all that stuff.”

You nod. “Eh, I’m more of an American plane girl myself. Even though I really don’t know much about planes.”

She snickers. “You spend some time around us, you’ll be able to fly a plane.” She puts on her blazer, completing her uniform. “Anyway, see you next time.”

You wave goodbye. “See ya!” You look over at Kitten. “Ready to go?” Kitten has her arms crossed, her blush has faded but is still noticeably there, and she’s puffed her cheeks. Yeah, she’s a bit pissed. “Kitten?”

She sighs. “Fine, let’s go.”

You also wave goodbye to your staff, who still have things to do.

You give Lisa a quick call to confirm the purchase of the SU-122.

“An SU-122 huh?” says Kitten. “Good. It’s a way better assault gun than that BT-42.”

“Well, Lisa’s looking for a buyer for the BT. Hopefully we get some money out of it.”

Kitten nods. “Only around a dozen or so BT-42s were ever actually made, so you might make some money from a museum or something. That’s really where they belong.”

The two of you continue on the walk home. Looks like the sun has pretty much set on today. Your stomach growls.

“Hehehe,” you scratch the back of your head, giggling nervously. “I don’t suppose you mind cooking dinner for me?”

Kitten raises an eyebrow. “Since when can I cook?”

“Need any help?” you ask. Kitten shakes her head.

“Nah, we’re just gonna have instant noodles. I don’t feel like overextending myself today. You know how it is.”

You shrug. “Not really. I mean, how hard can it be?”

Kitten looks up at you. “Trudy, do you remember the last time you tried to help me cook?”

You cross your arms. You genuinely do not remember. “Nooo…?”

“The Fire Department was not amused.”

Oh, THAT.

You shrug. “Okay, fine. Do it yourself. I’ll just stand here and look pretty.” You toss off your blazer and stand behind Kitten. Already bored. Kitten’s pouring water into the bowls.

Hm. Kitten always has her hair down. Wonder what she’d look like with a ponytail. Or maybe pigtails. Hell, you can do her hair in a bun or something-

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“Pardon?” you say with a French accent.

“You’re playing with my hair.”

… You continue playing with Kitten’s hair.

After a few minutes of waiting, cooking, and playing, the instant noodles are ready. TIME TO EAT.

“You know, you happen to have some hair your head too you know,” she says.

“Hey, I know that. I just wonder why you don’t try to style your own hair.” You take a quick sniff of her hair. “Or use a decent shampoo.”

“Whatever works, Trudy, whatever works,” she says. Idly flipping a page.

“Still,” you say. “Maybe a ponytail or something. Or hell, go fucking pigtails, be like one of them schoolgirls in those pornos you always watch.”

Kitten giggles. “There’s a difference between me and them, Trudy.”

“What’s that?”

“They actually have sex.”
