Let’s get this show on the road.

You have three potions

>Two vials of magical stimulants, which should provide a gross power boost of half a rank to your overall magical prowess! Side effect of making you excitable.
>One vial of pain killer which also act as a sort of healing potion, it’ll keep you alive for a few minutes longer in the event of a mortal wound or allow you to ignore your burning nerves if you cast too much magic. Side effect of making you sluggish and sleepy.
>>
13th day of Prophecy, 8:20 am, inside the compound of the Flaming Fist, aboard a rare magical superarmor.

After the introduction of your new means of locomotion, namely a sentient 3 meters tall miracle of magical enginery, came a few minutes of exercise to get used to movements inside such a big, unusual thing.

At first there was only disorientation; your brain was aware of two points of views and your consciousness had to find the correct wavelength with the old dwarf. Arnvidur provided vital stability and experience to your little newborn steps and the calm, fatherly demeanor of the old dwarf allowed you to learn fast and avoid embarrassing yourself when your first time proved to be solid, the arms followed afterward and the machine balanced itself automatically as the dwarf corrected your numerous little mistakes, allowing the machine to calmly but a feet in front of the other and then jab in the air as was requested, balling the heavy hand of flexible metals into a fist, retreating then springing the arm with few shoulder movements, yet fast and heavy enough to pierce the wooden walls surrounding you.

You acclimated fast to the heavy strut of this machine and after a simple 10 minutes of simple movements and exercises free of your momentary lack of balances, a small whistle escaped the High Inquisitor and your wingman took her place back into the circle of teleportation, her masked face giving you a brief nod that sprung some butterfly of pride in your belly.

[Yer a natural kid, good job. Least now ya won’t be puking all over my clean seat]

Far be it that arrogance lead you to discard the gains of these precious minutes, you’ve still got some serious reservations at the fact that this is your first time in one of these things and battles are won by hard work through trainings.

‘’I don’t feel too confident…’’

Your finally admit.

[Relax, I’m here]

‘’One, Two, are you hearing me?’’
>>
A honeyed, fatherly voice suddenly invade the sanctity of the forcefield, the sudden invasion surprised you enough to tighten your grip around the copper staff but you answer quickly, drawing your eyes to the albino who’s started fiddling with some amulet around his neck, holding a transparent jewel to his mouth while alternating his gaze between you and your wingman.

‘’Clear’’

You hear the metallic voice of the woman and, in turn, announce your own status.

‘’Clear’’

‘’Good’’

Ahriman fiddles with the object a few seconds, gazing into it as some runes light up.

‘I’ll provide a briefing as thorough as possible while the teleportation ritual is underway but we don’t have the best of information; which is why I’m sending you inside those weapon but first, there’s a little compartment to your lower right that should hold a collar; put it around your neck.’’

[Rub in on your skin, too]

Arnvidur chime in as you fiddle to find the item, it’s more like a silver chain than a collar and doesn’t give any magical pulse but, as ordered, you put the simple thing around your neck then under your clothes for good measure while putting the old dwarf advice into practice.

‘’Good, I’ll be sending the two of you at the flank of the army in the first battlefield of the war; while we’ve gained a precious victory that allowed us access to the rest of the province and siege the interconnected duo of fortress outside the coast angel scout spotted a rather unique structure and went to investigate… only never to return. Those two weren’t your usual foot soldiers but the cream of the crop and it’s up to us to pick up the pieces. Your orders are as follows; neutralize any enemies and render any potential magical transportation useless. We can’t afford an open way toward our main camp or the very back of our army’’
>>
The little man (from your perspective at least) stop talking momentarily as several red robbed figure move at the edge of the large circle of teleportation, head putting their hands together in prayers and whispering a slow, whispering chant while embracing Focus, bathing the area in pure raw magic as more than ten mages potentials came alive.

‘’Given the nature of our opponent, you needn’t worry about collateral damage or stealth; your codename will be as follow;

Siegfried will be referred as ‘’One’’ and ‘’Two’’ already know her place, I leave the success of this operation to you my young friend… also, the two of you will be able to communicate thank to your machines, ‘’Two’’ will be in charges of the updating me. Now, any questions?’’

As you look around the place and beyond the rampart, you don’t spot anyone from your little faction, or any movement from Hieronymus for that matter; the fact that you didn’t see the Purifier before departing worry you quite a bit: seems you’ll be going with this uneasiness in the pit of your stomach.

Regardless, do you have any question for your superior, mister Siegfried?

It's quite alright, I think proceeding on is the way to go and for once I don't have questions to answer!
>>
>>28055590
Different "leave" you're thinking of. We're going to skewer him when the opportunity arises, and then abandon the encampment entirely. We'll get our chance tonight, but Ahriman's got a mission for us before then.
>>
>>28055742
Then off we go Frenchie, give us the good stuff.

>>28055765
Ah, I see.
>>
>>28055413
"What about exfiltration contingencies?"
>>
>>28055413
"What is the expected strength of the enemy forces? I've heard some rumors about who Zipangu has on their side. Are they true?"
>>
‘’None, Father’’

While there is still a rather critical lack of information you suspect that it is precisely because of this unknown that you’re being sent in these glorious machines; someone strong enough to take down a pair of elite angels can only be narrowed down to a few individuals and you can’t help but feel sick to your stomach at the possibilities.

As for exfiltration, these collars act as temporary teleportation field strong enough to envelope the entirety of this armor, no need to ask it’s not exactly hard to activate a magic item for a mage.

‘’Very well, may the blessing of our Mother bring you back safely’’

While speaking Ahriman gesture toward his fellows un bright red rob and the ritual of teleportation start properly; you expected some kind of rise in the chant they’ve been whispering but the men and women merely project an equal amount of magical energy into the magic circle which light up in silver lights, it’s many, many drawing coming alive and flickering slightly while moving inside enclosed space like overgrown serpents, the very air around you become foggy; the world is harder and harder to notice until a literal fog gate blanket the entirety of the circle.
>>
[Stand still now]

Arnvidur gruff voice resonate in the forcefield, giving you much needed support until the whiteness clear up slowly; it’s heavy opaque patch of white pierced by the morning light and presence of the world, your first vision is that of a forests, thick vegetation crumbling and disturbed by the sudden apparition of a pair of giants, the only ones to create sounds in this lonely location, the very first thing you are struck with however, is a very strong sense of déjà vue…

[Oh, t’would seem like were pretty close already]

‘’We’ve got a location in sight, One. Ready to proceed?’’

Both voices stir you’re up of your momentary torpor and your eyebrows shoot up in surprise as you finally lay eyes on your objective.

Ruined remain of a forest fort with only the broken chapel of that once proud fortress, the exact place where the Oni waited for their alliance in the battle a few days ago, now deserted.

What do you do?
>>
>>28056060
Advance forward. We'll want to get Two killed in the inevitable fight somehow.
>>
>>28056060
Oh, that's not where I expected we'd be at all. Well, we'll want to see about hindering the church's efforts while making it seem like we're supporting them, and at the same time we want to keep the mayhem we personally cause to Zipangu's forces down to a minimum.

INH, I forget, how much does operating a golem drain a caster? I remember that they don't feel it until they're out of the machine, but do we have to worry about operational limits?
>>
>>28056142

It drain them quite a bit, around 1/3 of your reserve to activate it, the operating itself is much, much smoother and it doesn't cost much to cast stuff; it's just activating the machine itself that really take a heavy toll.

You could ask the old dwarf about your potential limit since he's better able to judge it than you.
>>
>>28056060
Ask the Dwarf. We ain't exactly got an Umbilical so we need to know our operational time limit. The batteries dying in the middle of a fight would be bad.

Actually, we want a decent body count for this if we can swing it. Remember who's watching, a certified runner.

Leila has already set off his sense with going to see Ishmael. She has a cover story ready to go and has proven a competent employee, but that won't be enough for Ahriman. It's why I think mommy said waiting would cost her life, the hit order on her would go out tonight, Tius knows people I'm sure of it. The dirty deed would be done before nightfall tomorrow unless she got lucky.

We hold back too much and he'll think it's not just Leila maybe workin' for Lex undercover. We need 2 dead or disabled optimally along with no dead former party members we might encounter here.
>>
‘’Let’s go’’

No need for fancy words, you immediately set out toward your destination; the heavy steps of the metallic superarmor as well as the bulky nature of its constructions ruins most of the tree you come across; you and your partner literally force yourselves into the forest, creating one hell of a loud mess and you can’t help but click your tongue in frustration at the overtly packed trees and pack of dry leaves, this combination make any attempt at sneaking completely impossible.

Still there is a little something that keep nagging you in the back of your mind and now’s the best time to get it out of the way.

‘’Arnvidur, how much longer can I operate you?’’

…That felt very weird to say.

[Hrm? Oh! Until evening, ya got some good reserves ya know that? Hell you’d probably be able to go until afternoon if ya were to deactivate and reactivate my old bones and I’m known to be a greedy one]

Well… there’s that.

This little discussion was enough to close the distance with the entrance to the large, large chapel while the door aren’t exactly on the big size the ruined walls and roof make for a good 7 to 8 meters with plenty of space to move inside, it’s why the damn thing was such a hard nut to crack on your first visit given the amount of ground you had to cover; you’d just need to make your own entry by making a hole if need be.

‘’Should we investigate?’’

Your wingman, standing behind you and keeping eyes on the forest around you which gave no sign of life or rogue magical energy.

Do you smash open the church? Or try something else?

Given what we know of the area, any defenders are likely to be inside the hidden fortress. Kinda wonder how much the Inquisitors know about the area, and how much they think Siggy knows.

In the meantime, Two is still alive, so we'd best be good Inquisitors and kick down that door.

‘’Quiet…’’

[Quite]

You’d probably have laughed in less stressful situations. As you eyes the double doors of the chapel, then all around the area and finally settle back to your objective your brows furrows in momentary indecision and for now, you decide to keep your cover and inform your wingman.

‘’Might be a trap, I’ll go first but prepare yourself’’

‘’Confirmed’’

The heavy step of the superarmor resonate un dull thuds as she move the machine further back, getting out of your immediate view and allowing a wider range of movement, you take in a big breath and look down at the doors and the archway, you’ll have to make a sizable hole to get in there.

‘’Punch with all of your might, Arnvidur’’

[Haha!]

The two oversized hands coil into fists while a single large artic breath escape the mouth of the machine, so cold and magical is the fume that it ice over the materials it come across, turning a line of wood and stone into brittle ice which is quickly shattered as the two arms smash into the building, creature a large cavernous booming quickly trampled by the sound of shattered and falling stones while your machine charge forward, its entire bulk ramming into the eroded stones while the heavy foot shatters what remain of the ceramic, projecting even more hollowing into the empty chapel whose gothic architecture still projected grace, but the decapitated statue of the water dragon is a grim reminder if your short time here.

[Hrrm… you’ve been here afore aye?]

The dwarf ask slowly but you prefer to avoid answering; in front of you a familiar fog has blanketed the entirety of the back wall while behind you the heavy steps of you wingman ‘’Two’’ make any retreat impossible as she, in turn, lay eyes upon the magical creamy white.

‘’Quite interesting…’’

You hear her metallic voice murmurs these words and she quickly start describing the area.

No sign of life at all… What do you do?

Investigate the area, there's probably a teleporta around here somewhere. Gotta give it the old smashing treatment.
>>
>>28057130

Links, as in soul links?

All of them are pointing down south, aroudn the area of the fort and soon to be sieging crusaders forces
>>
>>28057166
Aye, those links. Is that fort one that Zipangu is about to attack, or one they're about to defend?
>>
>>28057130
Actually, we do. See Ahriman's afraid they're setting up a teleporter there. That location isn't too far from the main camp so if it gets set up they can go for an Alpha Strike against headquarters and potentially win the war right then and there.

The church, Ahriman especially, does not want that. Our orders are to find out what the hell they're doing there and generally fuck up their plans.
>>
>>28057237

There's two interconnected forts built up after the very first crusade on Zipangu soil a bit further it away from the Coast, the mosnters will be defending them

>>
‘’Going in there should answer a few question’’

[Dangerous]

You simply nod to the machine, you know all too well about the abominations lurking inside the ruined keep of this enclosed world; the machine straighten itself somewhat as you move out of the rubbles properly, caused some intense noises as the ceramic crack and give in under the intense weight of the superarmor.

‘’Ah, One, wait’’

You don’t bother turning around to look at your wingman; her metallic emotionless voices resonate slightly inside the forcefield.

‘’Only one of us should venture inside; Ahriman orders are to either close the portal or for you to go and explore with a delay of 20 to 30 minutes for update, failure to do so and I’ll be forced to start demolishing this building to close the gate.’’

Rats… It seem like the magical dampening of the enchanted rocks aren't enough to kill communications.

What now?
>>
>>28057493
"More tests, is it? Fine. You'll hear from me in twenty minutes, unless something comes up."
>>
>>28057493
If we go in I just know who we'll encounter, but we will be alone so there is potential for diplomacy and/or some kind of plan.

Closing the portal will smoke out whoever's inside but will land them between us and 2 meaning that whoever or whatever it is we will be forced to fight and 2 will not be in a mood to spare anyone given how her creed is "Know the monstergirl, kill the monstergirl."

This is a tough choice... Either go in and hope whoever's on the other side is willing to see reason, or we smoke them out and double team them.
>>
>>28057593

Yep, that's your reality right now

I think going in is sill the consensus, got a time limit now, writing.
>>
>>28057608
It gets even more complicated sadly. Smoking them out will land us in a fight but there is the chance they could prioritize 2's destruction over our own accomplishing a tertiary goal. Highly risky however given our history with Zipangu and thus our death/recovery is likely a high priority order.

If we do go in and they see reason I already have a plan ready. Sadly it will leave 2 utterly unscathed in order to properly sell it to Ahriman.

So really, it's get risky now, or get risky later. No easy way out of this. Dear lord it's the whole Mylen fiasco all over again but with the ante uped quite a bit.
>>
>>28057685
Ok, given all my analysis I've deemed it too risky to the survival of the party within the otherworld to smoke em' out. I know who it is, I need that person alive. Hope they're capable of cooling his tits and listening to the truth.

We're goin' in, we're so fucked.
>>
‘’Then I’ll go and report in twenty minutes; I won’t let potential vital information filter out of our graps’’

Your mind raced with possibility in the short minute it took your to make up your mind, the soul link of Athena, Sylphis and Hadraniel is still pulsing, giving you a vague sense of presence toward the south of the province, smoking out the opposition is less risky but you might actually kill someone valuable to Zipangu war effort, while going in alone is obviously dangerous your chance of reasoning is close to nil given that, not only did you betray the monster and murder (kidnapped) the Oni Chieftain, but you actually took a valuable warrior and retainer of Ame-no-Uzume (on paper) to the church.

‘’May Mother bless you’’

For some reason, you feel like her tone is shifted toward sarcasm but the emotional suppressor work wonderfully well enough to prevent such slip, it’s probably just the stress of the inevitable conflict.

[Interesting young lad…]

‘’Stay with me and you’ll have your fill of events, let’s go Arnvidur’’
>>
--

Stepping inside the enclosed world felt less onerous than your previous teleportation; you braced for some kind of feeling of vertigo or nausea but you were spared such distractions and instead, your machines stepped slowly into the fog, allowing some of the creamy white tendrils to caress its metal form as the hand gave the impression of penetrating into molasses, the body followed soon afterward and you found yourself in a very familiar, dull scenery.

Gray sky, dead trees, discarded carts and rusting equipment’s without a single trace of body to be found, the beaten dirt trail leading to the enormous ruined keep was as ominous as ever and from your position you were actually able to get a better view of the castle; the large door of the courtyard were wide open and the entrails of the fortifications projected a most creepy of shadows as the serpentine corridors extended into the bowels of the castle like that many entrails.

[I’m feeling magic]

So do you, burst of magical energy are exploding deep inside the castle with a foreboding impression of closing in, yet it didn’t feel like whomever casting was running.

[Shall we go into the courtyard?]

You’ve just made your first step… what do you do?

>[1 minutes has passed]

>>
>>28058225

>>
‘’Time a wasting, let’s get a move on!’’

[Running makes me crack all over… ah hell]

It would seem that this old dwarf is fond of bad jokes, still you tighten your grip on the staff and force your intention down the machine that obey in a blink, the very next second the heavy feet of metal come crashing down in a dull thud while a loud ‘’Phsssst’’ of exhaust exit the mouth once more, you feel a jerk and almost snap your neck as powerful jet of steam exits at several place behind the machine whose legs now rattle the ground, sliding loudly onto the soil and pulverizing everything in path as you start to go pretty damn fast while keeping impressive stability; you only feel the slight vibrations of movements shaking the machine all over and you only need to position yourself at a better angle to remedy the situation.

The scenery literally zip past; what previously took 10 minutes to reach is already in sight, with one final spurt you slide heavily into the middle of the large courtyard full of decomposed bodies and rusted equipment’s with a few flags here and there hanging uselessly across their shafts, the mouth of the castle is open before you but you have to take several deep breath as the g-force left you momentarily out of air.

[Got yer cherry popped eh?]

‘’Do you-‘’

And then you find yourself interrupted as the new silence is broken by the sound of rattling; metal clanging on the soul and the heavy pitter patter of metal boots rang all the way to your position as incessant movements of…something seem just about ready to vomit out of the darkness; the torch that were previously lit are completely extinguished.

[Hmm, contacts soon…]

You know exactly what lurks in these walls, but what do you do? Take a stance and hack them apart?
Or wait and see?
>>
So, assuming we can talk the approaching terror down, how should we go about this?
Let them knock us around a bit, then burst back out of the gate with them following, resulting in a fight that includes 2 which leaves her dead, us severely damaged, and Korne wounded and retreating so that we can claim a technical victory?

>>28058515
Let them come to us.
>>
>>28058515
Time remaining? Also, ask how many contacts and what direction they're coming from. Keep an eye out for anything that seems different or stronger than the others because I don't want that guy getting a solid strike on our backside.

Remember, Tsu has access to one of these mechs herself. You can bet she's been researching a weakness. (Or may have found a human mage to use it).

>You can bet she's been researching a weakness. (Or may have found a human mage to use it).
My fear: she's found a way to get Kyorn to pilot one.

‘’Wait up, let’s see what’s going on first’’

You speak slowly, forcing the machine back a few steps; it doesn’t take any longer for the very first one to come into the light and you immediately frown in slight disbelief.

It’s one of the creatures you’ve dubbed as a ‘’wretch’’, a vampiric undead whose body was left to rot in an inescapable cell; once healthy colored skin turned a sick cracked yellowish brown without teeth to speak off, any kind of sex is now impossible to identity thanks to a famished body somehow still strong enough to clutch into some old discarded weapon and somehow lucid enough to throw on some pieces of armor here and there; you expected a torrent to pour out like last time but instead you merely count a drizzle of 5 monsters who, upon seeing the majesty of the magical armor, stop their stride and gawk like sheep; their small black eyes glimmers without emotions and they simply set out once more, seemingly intent on ignoring you as they separate around the courtyard…

All this while, you feel the magical presence getting close and closer, no doubt taking it’s time to get to you.

You could kill these undead easily enough, or simply wait once more and prepare for the worst.

Oh... Oh dear god... oh please no. Please God no. Have mercy oh lord, please...

That's just plain broken. Two tier boss battle. First ya gotta beat the mech, then you have to fight a somewhat exhausted but nevertheless furious berserker class hero who can take on entire companies of soldiers and win...

That's not fair at all!
>>
>>28058710
What kind of weapons do we have here? Might be a good chance to try them out, see their effects.
>>
>>28058710
My first instinct is "purge the undead!" but that magical signature... Wouldn't you say that Amarantha Amisi's mother was pretty goddamn magical? Might send the wrong message.

Regardless, seeing the massive warmachine NOT engaging in mass slaughter can only say good things about the pilot's intentions.
>>
>>28058710
They're not attacking? Very strange behavior.
Let's wait and see what's chasing these wretches.
>>
>>28058761

Usually the dwarf form a shield and warhammer but you can bo a little... sophisticated if you want. Given that I've been inspired by Armored Core, you can do stuff that would fry Siegfried of his juices pretty reliably.

Acidic beams
>>
>>28058808
I saw use an Ice Breath attack earlier. That the form of our exhaust? Because if so it shouldn't fry us out.

But yeah let's not fry ourselves if at all possible. We do have an assassination scheduled after all this and I just know Ahriman won't be alone (my fear, he's in combat with a Fallen with backup).
>>
>>28058872

Yeah, your exhaust can be used as an ice attack, everything related to ice is sort of +1 given your affinity with that element.
>>
>>28058909
Good answer! Now we can Flash Freeze anybody who get's close to our "mouth" for cheap! Phew, so we have short to mid range covered. Long is possible, but fries us out. Good to know.

Also, just checking, if the mech goes berserk will it wring us dry or follow Evangelion rules?
>>
>>28058962

I'd say Evan rules, berserk will mean a loss of control and a jump to ANGER.

It also means that it doesn't need power anymore and will keep going until it falls dormant somehow.

Most reliable way to make that happen is to either eject the plug or kill all remaining threats. It may also fall dormant on it's own, I think it depends on the kind of soul ya used. Arnvidir seems a cool type so he'd fall dormant after a few rounds, maybe...

[Letting em go?]

‘’No use chasing after flies, if they get out Two will kill them anyway’’

Instead you concentrate on the oppressive darkness of the keep, the large opening uselessly large with around 5 to 6 meters of distances; what remains of the iron gate lies inside, smashed in by some unknown force and rusted over by time.

[Getting some jolly, ah this is exciting!]

Next come the loud sound of exhaust, this time the torrent is much bigger and compact, flowing all the way to the ground and icing over a patch of dirt as the machine prepare itself, magical energy flow freely between the artificial veins, colored the armor in bright greens and forming many, many strange runic hieroglyph which only work to reinforce its position.

*CLANG*

Metal on metal resonate all the way to you as a heavy step squished a piece of the iron gate, the magical presence is now effectively at your front and finally reveal itself into the light with a walk of total nonchalance.

Here stand a tall man of black wings, garbed in solid armor drenched in blood, interconnect set of rings formed a solid mail painted in dark blood almost reminiscent of the pair of ominous flapping appendages extending behind his back, granting grace and dread in equal measure; his entire stature was one of complete stability and intimidation, his face concealed by a closed gothic helmet allowed a pair of piercing green eyes to sting you from the open rectangle. Most striking however, was the greatsword resting upon his shoulders; a weapon of pure transparent glasses solidly held in his hand by the large pommel, the blade was drenched in blood and looked more like a thick slab of iron colored in dark juices and entrails, you wouldn’t be surprised if you’d have seen a corpse gliding down its oversized length.

Here stand a hero…

No not a Hero.

Here stand the Dark Marauder, the bloodiest killer of man of the era following the fall of the Demon Lord.
But he wasn’t alone.

Beside him a large presence slithered into the light; a beast you’ve come to know quite well in short time; 5 meters long, large enough to rival your mount and covered in sickish green elastic skin with a perpetually open mouth with a set of double jaw filled with hundreds of small teeth, oversized eyes glowered in the color of foggy sapphires and projected a constant small magical aura as it looked straight ahead, it’s oversized muscles tensing, it’s mouths clapping as bile of disgusting slimes fell on the ground.

..

Silence.

Not even the moaning of the eternally dead can be heard.

>>
>>28059578

It's more like a projection of his magic, it's why you've been able to sense him in the first place. From the old story, the Dark Marauder was described to use a ''vast array of gleaming, see-through weaponry''
>>
>>28059689
It's better to talk it out first, so that he can give us cosmetic damage that's worse than it actually looks, and so that we can plan to kill Two when Kyorn chases us out of this enclosed world.
>>
>>28059689
You're implying we can't do that in a civil atmosphere. He hits our mech a few times, we deck him in the shnoz and give him a kidney punch or two. We both end up looking reasonably fucked up as we charge for the exit as she's trying to close it and boom. It all makes sense.

Hell we can say we were fighting him, we noticed the time, made a break for the exit which he immediately understood the why of that and beelined for it too. He's likely faster than us so he makes it out first and proceeds to wreck two. We get out, rejoin combat with Kyorn who will realize he's not guaranteed to win against two mechs at once and retreats (though not before doing quite a number on 2).

Mission Accomplished.

>>28059711
Ah, so he's like a Soulknife that doesn't suck. Nice!
>>
Quite the prickly situation, the tension is stretched so much that it feel like your entire world is about to come crumbling down, the pure raw intimidation of the bloodied oversized sword wielding by the half-angel and the big, big worm bigger than your own superarmor; you make sure too look at her in the eyes and anticipate the feeling of vertigo that come from its telepathy but find yourself rapidly wanting and you can tell that it didn’t anticipate this at all as its row of eyes open and close nervously, next the worm scoop closer to the ground and tense up its body, allowing you to see some of its unreal musculature very much akin to a serpent.

This is a 5 meter tall regenerative worm thick enough to rival your magic armor; no way in hell can you expect it to be anything but strong.

[That’s a big bitch]

‘’No shit’’

Your grip on the staff tighten but you lean forward and look at Kyorn, his presence hasn’t so much as budged and the thick blood on his blade slide down to the pommel, not even his wings are victim of the odd nervous twitch you’ve seen from Hadraniel and Mylen; he’s a perfect statue and you can tell that the his companion isn’t exactly at once as she slither away from the Marauder whose gaze stay unflinching at you, only disturbed by blinking.

‘’Let my voice out’’

[Aye]

"Kyorn, calm down for a minute I'm not really a traitor!’’

You speak out sincerely, looking toward the worm, then back to the stout winged Marauder.

‘’Ms. Amisi can verify this! Please, give me a chance to explain I don't want to fight you!"

The worm jerk nervously at the mention of her name and then crash down on the floor, only to get back up, starting a strange up and down movement as her eyes open and close frantically, yet the man doesn’t even acknowledge her, his piercing green gaze is on you and only you…

*SNAP*
>>
The sound of a closing jaw and clenched teeth bellow out of his closed helmet and he suddenly put his second hand on the glass Zweihander and swing the weapon in an arc, the blade is blindingly fast and cut into the ground loudly, causing rubles and dirt to escape the ground as the entrails and bloods fall toward your machine, staining it in damned juices.

‘’I will not be beset by lies; the voice of a traitor is warm and sincere and now you stand before me in a most lethal weapon.’’

His voice is graver and hollowed, most likely an effect of the plate helmet, nevertheless he lift the oversized sword and let it rest on his shoulder once more without so much as straining.

‘’We sat and shared a drink before this war; you have something to do, and so do I, what can you say to quench this anger, little boy? I’ve suffered my share of traitors and you… you act like all of them. Why shouldn't I shatter this toy and bring you back?

Such a cold, cold voice, his anger wasn’t outward and that’s terrifying.

[Careful with this one lad, he’ll jump very soon]

What was the Oni leader's name again? I'm writing something up that's probably bad.
>>
>>28060223
"When you put it that way, I suppose that you're right. I lied and bamboozled my way into a High Inquisitor's confidence, by stealing a critical piece of Zipang's armory and making everyone think that I killed the leader of the Oni who would have betrayed her entire faction to the Church due to Deruella's machinations, and making everyone believe I betrayed Zipangu.
"You want to know why you shouldn't kill me now? Because if you let me live, I kill my wingman who is in another armor right outside the fog gate, and a High Inquisitor of the Church dies tonight, Radiance and her Holy Sword along with a powerful Purifier will defect to Zipangu, Deruella's plans and forces become embroiled in a civil war among the Demons, AND I return the key to Tsukiyomi's master plan.
"That's why you should let me live."

I only betrayed Zipangu to get into the Church camp, from there I need to remove the main forces pushing for this war, Deruella played Amarantha into joining the Church and my actions were the only thing that prevented that.
Think damnit, why would I sign my brother up to join Zipangu's forces if I intended to betray them?"
>>
>>28060223
"Listen, everything I did was for this one chance I'll have later today to kill High Inquisitor Ahriman Edan and escape with a few powerful and useful defectors along with Emeth. If I die those assets will remain in church hands and the High General Lex, who doesn't really want this war, will be killed and any hope for a peaceful resolution to this conflict will die with him! Do you really want that? A war of total annihilation with the church in possible possession of the control terminal to a golem army?!

Um anon, we can't kill our wingman ourselves. We do that and Ahriman becomes immediately savvy to our intentions and will have all his buddies, Orion included, waiting for us when we gate back. After that our death is pretty much guaranteed.

We can try and get Kyorn to do it for us, but if we so much as look like that's our intent we're utterly fucked. Think things through man.

We can also mention Mylen on top of any answer you choose.

"Also, think about Mylen. She was loyal to me and only me and everyone knew that. Why didn't she immediately try to kill Tsu or other important members of the Zipangu alliance or march towards the church camp? It's because I ordered her to stay but then we ran into each other and battled Noscrim. After her defeat the stubborn girl refused to go back to Zipangu! Think man! If I was really the traitor you accuse me of, how do you account for Mylen's behavior?"
>>
>>28060861
The plan IS to get Kyron to come with us out of the gate and to maneuver the fight such that Two is killed and Kyorn is wounded enough to flee.
You think that Kyorn wouldn't follow us out, after we ask him to make the damage look convincing?

"What would you do if you were handed a way to revive your fellow Heroes, restore them to the height of their power, strip away the curse and end the threat of the demons forever?’’

You speak as clearly as you can while clutching the copper staff, your left palm is massaging the set of magical jewels and golden runes along the surface of the star shaped circle, your sentence was almost sent as a provocation but you tried your best to channel your usual diplomatic charisma.

Whether it worked or not you cannot say for the half-angel scooped closer to the ground, his oversized sword slung along his back almost touching the ground as he support it with one hand, legs outstretched and wings flapping as he take this weird position that force an awkward swallow down your throat; his stance is obviously offensive.

‘’I saw your images…’’

He speaks softly, much too softly in fact, you wouldn’t have been able to hear it under normal circumstance.

[I remember this lad fighting in the Karracks during the great Crusade…Or was it after?]

Arnvidur musing goes over your head, but the venerable dwarf isn’t exactly on the trusting side either as he prepare his own battle stance, letting out exhaust of sub-zero fumes in the air and allowing the joints of the arms and legs to grow more flexible and oiled while anchoring both feet on the ground.

‘’But that’s personal motivations, if you bother with politics then know that I’ve been forced to do this in order to allow peace between Human and Monster; to lose to the Crusader is a tragedy, to slaughter them and force them out a mistake. I’ve gambled the very future of my homeland in an alliance with this country, then in a remarkable display of uncharacteristic self-destruction I spit on my efforts – along with the hearts of the women I loves- and go join the enemy despite having everything to gain as the husband of Ame-no-Uzume’’
>>
Kyorn response isn’t long winded, the Marauder start chuckling, then laugh openly before snapping his jaw shut in another loud *snap* while the oversized worm wiggle her way a little out of reach, obviously this one isn’t hostile at all; she’s very grateful for your sparing of her daughter…

‘’Serpents cajole with forked tongues of logic while wearing the skin of comrades; speak however you want your actions made me leery of your ilk, Shieffer. Your disappearance struck Tsukiyomi deep, deep in the heart and the position of my fluffy friends – friends- (He emphasizes on that word) has become a little strenuous. And I’m going to fix it, I’ll make sure that lamia bitch and Anubis whore will understand that I am loyal to my comrades; this lady possess vital information and I demand this from you. Let her go, let her exit this wretched place and we will do battle because only force of arms will see us through this day; I won’t listen to the honeyed words of your split tongues.’’

His jaw snap shut inside the helmet and he exhale a long, long breath, a heavy, slow winded ‘’Ffffffffff’’ that render your spine frigid with fear.

‘’Suffer not the liars to live. Suffer not the backstabbers; suffer not the witches and serpents, suffer not the wicked…’’

There will be no further negotiation with the Marauder.

He does not have to let us walk, all he has to do is see reason here. All is done according to a reason, that is how sentient beings act.

We have to convince him that distracting us here will spell the doom of that worm he's trying to let out of here. If we must fight, if he won't see reason, we must convince him that entangling us here as she breaks for the exit is the absolute worst course of action (which it is).

Frustration boils inside but you avoid clicking your tongue in displeasure or even change the emotions of your face, Kyorn is just about ready to go strike, his low stance and outstretched wind tell of a single minded charge but the amount of magic pouring into his body is increasing rapidly and will inevitably approach a boiling point.

And through all of this his pair of piercing emerald almost never leave yours, his anger is cold and thoroughly ravaging in its strange clarity; so clear are his eyes that you wonder how he’s even able to keep his sanity under such crippling, invasive anger.

‘’Listen to me!’’

You finally bellow, tapping on your staff.

‘’I’ve been imposed a wingman whose waiting outside and will bring down the entire chapel supporting the portal in just about 5 minutes! I’m your ally goddammit and I don’t want Amarantha mother to get killed!’’

[Raah!]

Arnvidur sudden scream lasted less than a second but in that time, the Marauder struck.
It all went fast, much, much too fast for your liking; the Hero wings flapped around the end of your speech and it created a potent hollow boom which quickly expulsed a vast and potent quantity of winds all around the area, creating a small vortex that send flags, armors and discarded weapons on a short lived journey; even the worm had to stop moving, so potent and sudden was the explosion aimed at you.

The bloodied armor clad dark winged one made one pirouette through the air on his diagonal travel; clutching the glass greatsword in both hands the Hero was on you in the blink of an eye and the Zweihander SMASHED into your forcefield with such force that the reverberation robbed Arnvidur of movement while disorienting you in temporary g-force; the weapon was also irremediably broken as the surreal force of the half-angel cut it in two, he didn’t bother holding the rest and the sectioned blade fell in a shower of short lived spark.

Next, right as Arnvidur arm flew to smash him on the back, two thick circles formed around his palms and blocked the attack, standing his ground despite the pain and then went on his knees, abandoning his shield and smashing his head on the forcefield while his hand – now bloodied – started to uselessly dig unto the magical barrier; the frustration caused him to smack his head a few more time, all this while he stayed almost unblinking, looking at you with clear eyes of green.

‘’SUFFER NOT’’

Then a long, slow winded ‘’Ffffffffff’’ escaped the gothic helmet… then he smashed his head once more, trying to force his fingers again and again, staying put.
This little display made you understand something about the abilities of this man; this projection of his, his magic… it’s not glasses. It’s the literal arming of one’s soul, if you were to make a guess, the way he enter Focus is artificial… or maybe he need to be angry.

We'd better grab Kyorn to us and run back out through the gate, and fling him towards Two.
Maybe with a "Watch out!" to better obfuscate the attack.

We need to get out of here in the next two minutes to keep the gate from being broken.

You probably won't believe this but, I never really wanted a harem. My true desire was their happiness only.

All I want was for them all to be happy, I don't care how. So please, let's make them happy, together. Let's forge a new path."

I have said it many times before. The best end is the one where they are all happy. I care not how it occurs. Their happiness is paramount. With Siggy, without him, in his memory, no matter.

All that matters is their happiness, in this life or the next. Siggy would gladly die to see them all happy. It is his greatest flaw, and his greatest strength. To see all whom he love be happy, joyous, and free.

A shining utopia, a world where it wasn't all in vain...

Only rivals that could pop up are the Demon Lord or Deruella. And no, Deruella can suck it in the most unflattering of ways.

She is the opposite of our goals, the darkest part of any desire. Yes, the eternal orgasm is very appealing... at first.

But is that all there is? Is cumming eternally the true apex of existence?

I think not. There is more. There are higher plateaus to which a truly sentient being must ascend. A truly superior lifeform must ascend to levels beyond pleasure. Beyond the "base", beyond the "sinful", beyond what we can even comprehend, to ascend to a level which we as mere mortals cannot even conceive as of now...

If you must think on this, think on the realm of Robo Girls. What truly is sentient, what is truly human or not human.

Who are we, limited as we are, to judge such things? I only ask that people truly think and ponder on these questions.

God damn, the harem is too big!
At the current rate assuming we survive and have at least two kids with each one we'll have at least 16 kids, and that's assuming the Golem can't have kids and the paladin gal makes it in.
Oh god, unless lizard and mantis girls have multiple kids at the same time and assuming there aren't twins there.

>>

>>
>>28063201
Provided Siggy survives. 30 years ago the Demon Lord Invaded Zipangu, before Siggy was even born!

Plans devised before a birth, an ideal world without the account of a central character...

Daiyu was and is a hardcore hedonist. It is only recently that she realized that her initial goal is unobtainable. She finally realized that a world of endless orgasms is in fact another level of hell.

A stagnant world, a dystopia of people robbed of their own purpose and humanity! The MGE is considered "Grimdark" for good reason. For the utterly corrupted are, in a very real sense, dead and gone. We merely released Noscrim from her fate. Merely had her see that she was, along with her 'darling', already dead.

She loved him for who he was, a kind, gentle, loving man whose only shortcoming was his low birth. Damn feudalism BS, ruins damn near any heartwarming story.

True love ought conquer all, when it don't well... expect the worst.

Wow, I've stumbled across something pretty cool tonight, how the hell did I miss this for so long? No matter. Guess I'll be trawling the archives or a few days.

>>28063078
Greedy Answer: Obviously prove that we're the better one to make them happier.
Proper Answer: Obviously if they're going to be happier with the love rival, then we let them go with love rival. But we test the fuck out of said love rival to ensure they're good enough.
<quick perusal of this thread and character sheets makes that much clear of Siggy.
>>
>>28063341
Same thing happened to me. Ran into this shit around thread 30 or so.

Was kind of really shocked that we didn't get into H territory until thread 28 or so. And even then, MC only got laid twice in almost 100 threads. Gotta love damn near minimal fanservice, such a rarity nowadays.
>>
>>28063341
Siggy's famously greedy. It's one of his defining character traits!

Also, it's been suggested that the harem end is what's necessary to achieve the best possible ending.

Welcome aboaard friend, we've got a certain dedicated player that make summary every few threads, you could read that one instead of the archive if you so wish.
>>
>>28063380
That's actually impressive. I don't mind fan service in my quest, and hey, always good to know that there's none of this 'unrequited' bullshit that gets shoehorned into most stories (note: lack of boinking =/= unrequited, just a good indicator), but it can get out of hand if it's all that it becomes focused on. Will look forward to seeing how this pans out then.
>>
>>28063380
And both times were with the same girl too!
Shits crazy.
>>
>>28063393
Well considering what Insert said about breaking that soul link thingy, and I assume this is held with all the members of the harem, and would be a prerequisite of someone being kicked out of said harem, then I'd think so.

>>28063394
Meh, more fun to read it as it happens, but I got a somewhat good idea of what's going on so far just from this thread and reading descriptions from the archives.

1) Wake up with amnesia and two monster girls. End up going to magic school for a time being, shenanigans happen. Harem building shenanigans no doubt.
2) Eventually end up (or start in) Zipangu, and end up spouse/lover/consort to one of the big wigs, the one that Kyorn there was so ticked off about I assume.
3) War breaks out between east and west, big old crusade, more shenanigans, we're pretending to work for the crusaders so we can kill off the leadership and be the only guy in the chain of command to take over and then lead to a peaceful ending?

I doubt I got it spot on, and I'll clarify myself over the next few days, but I'm probably not too far off?
>>
>>28063394
She's a hardcore hedonist, but a smart one. I respect her for that, I may disagree, but I will always respect intelligence. She realized that her former 'ideal' was unobtainable and thus adjusted her plans.

Peace is better than nothing, after all.
>>
>>28063462
There's a hard cap on how far you can stretch a soul. Due to SPOILERS Siggy can manage five, which is beyond extraordinary. Siggy currently has four soul links, with the first girls he met, the angel Hadraniel (fluffy wings!) and Emeth the golem.

The school segment wasn't scholastic so much as traumatic and difficult for all involved. Most of the harem building happened in Zipangu, and Siggy couldn't care less about the church anymore; they were the reason he earned the nickname The Butcher. He's assassinating the leader of the Inquisition so that the more reasonable leader of the Purifiers can take control.

Oh, and the Beast and the prophecy didn't come into this chapter at all. Nor did Mama or Avina. There's a lot of fun ahead for you, if you can handle REJOICING.

Indeed you're not too far, point 1 and 2 will take some times to answer given the whole progression of the quest (day by day, hours by hours).

Point 3 is pretty spot on, there's just a single detail you got wrong.

The High General (think supreme leader of the Church armed forces) is not a son of a bitch and is actually an overal reasonable man, we've resolved to kill his main rival (The High Inquisitor) so that the general can avoid getting assassinated by said man and provide a chance for a lasting peace between monsters and humans.

In order to do that we had to get close and we've sweated a whoooole bunch in order to do so (and cried too)

>>28063481

Being Sick kind of goes against hedonism
>>
>>28063518
I still don't like Emeth in the Harem, she feels more like Siggy and Avina's daughter to me.
>>
>>28063531
Not really. For a true hedonist sees a sickness as but another experience. But I must cut out now. Gotta sleep sometime after all. Hope you run Sunday, if only so I can see the end result of Kyorn jabbing his sword straight up Siggy's arse.

Something that make you puke out petrol and blood alike for years wear out its welcome very, very fast.

Might be a good way to get reintroduced to the setting and all.

Surprisingly enough, it IS cheery, for all that the main character has less thirty days to live and only so much time to fix what he can.

Yeah Iknow, I jsut think that running two quest in the same universe might be the only way to do it because I'm really the master of those universes and I know them inside and out.

>>28063972

Kyorn is a half-angel and he rocked the shit out of the mech. (His other half is elf, reason for his pointy ears)

And well, Mylen has sort of a trauma related to having a child, it's something that I'm not sure can even be taken care of. It's much, much more than the fear of giving birth and if there's one thing Mylen doesn't know how to handle, it's fear.
>>
>>28063972
She's half succubus. The real problem is that Mylen's life has been defined by her failures. Most notably she failed to protect Siggy, from his life as the Butcher and from the kidnapping that started this whole story, and she is desperately terrified that the more she loves something the more she hurts it. And given that her body is a hotbed of literal curses, she can't be sure whether it's all in her head.
>>
>>28063994
>And well, Mylen has sort of a trauma related to having a child
Did her mother die in childbirth?
Or would this be the second child.

the SAD
>>
>>28064033

She hated the shit out of her family (you'll see in her shortstory), with that alone the concept of ''family'' come with serious baggage

Her reasoning isn't entirely logical.

>>28064052

What kind of SAD?
>>
>>28064058
the SAD varies. It's usually deaths. Other times just continuous misfortune. It's up to you to determine which SAD is right for your quest. Consult a doctor before using SAD, as it may cause depression in quest participants.

>can someone give me a quick run down of the story b/w mylen and siggy?

The whole story is pretty long so I’ll give a rough rundown.
Mylen is Siegfried assigned bodyguard that he got around 15/16 years old and stay faithful all the way to the current events of the quest, in term of fighting capabilities she’s a real, real hardass with battle precognition, she and Siegfried came out with a very unique dynamic that make their duo extremely lethal so in term of companions, she’s probably one of the most precious one that boost both defensive and offensive capabilities. Hell, the two of them killed a major boss easily.

Anyway, Mylen was always a constant presence with the main character and helping him through the big crisis of his life until his amnesia; we went to get her back after remembering only to find out she was corrupted (that was cured fast) but the damage was done and her nature as a Succubus couldn’t be erased, but the presence of corruption within her is so weak that we’ve been referencing her as a Half-succubus because her wings are sort of useless due to her extremely low corruption.

That’s about the gist of it, I could go in details of course (and lord are there lots of details) but Mylen can be thought of as an old lover whom we’ve rekindled the flame of romance with and we’ve just begun stepping into the ton of emotional baggage’s she’s been carrying all of her life.
>>
>>28064079
Mylen was Siggy's bodyguard since his early teens. She's three years older than him, and spent several years as a captive of the fey. She's an accomplished warrior, and has numerous curses of varying levels of usefulness or strangeness inscribed on her body. She was Siggy's first lover, and the reason Siggy stopped being the Butcher.

Then Siggy was kidnapped and Mylen was corrupted by a Succubus. Mental fortitude and the curses in her body prevent her from going Top Slut, but until Siggy showed up in the company of an angel and a kitsune to reacquaint himself with her after losing his memories, she had been planning to commit suicide rather than lose herself.

There's a full summary in the archives.
>>
>>28064185
>>28064177
Cool. Thanks guys, that's enough info for me.

Just one question: We on a quest to 'cure' her? Miracle wish the succubus nature away or something?
>>
>>28063994
Oh yeah, I remember something about heroes unable to have Chidren like Tsu, so does that mean Hardianal cannot have children?
>>
>>28064209

Yes.

Each Heroes are cursed to never reproduce.
>>
>>28064201
No point really. We're not in an area where the wings are too much of an issue, and Siggy's more or less cut ties with his homeland. Mylen doesn't care either, she's already adjusted to them.

>>28064209
Yep! No kids. Her greatest wish is to have a boy and a girl.
>>
>>28064201

Nope, our current quest is to make peace between Monsters and Humans, create a lasting alliance between Siegfried homeland and Zipangu while trying to avoid massacring the crusaders or having the monster massaccred by the Church WMD.

Pushed us to betray all of our waifus to get the job done.
>>
>>28064219
That's rough. We make some tough sacrifices for the Greater Good.

Not really. I kinda hated her (along with Dion, I mean seriously, what a fucking dick).

Bitch was intolerant and stupid IMO. And as far as I'm concerned, dumb people need to go. Worried about the humans interacting with the other races? Worried about their progress?

Bitch please, you're just afraid that one day SCIENCE will enable the humans to surpass your kind. To reach a level beyond your so called "higher" status. You blind sorry fool! If you would just listen you could come with us. It ain't like the humans hate angels, and the monstergirls aren't all bad and they know that.

Just let it happen bitch. Let the humies science the fuck out of the setting. Dion's still a dick. At least Siggy's honest, not exactly hiding the fact he wouldn't mind a harem. Dion hid the fact he was sleeping around from his "main" GF. Unforgivable IMO.

As soon as Siggy pushes Hadraniel up against a wall and tells her he loves her and wants to be happy with her. Follow up with a kiss and don't let her go until she melts. Probably have to work up to the wings combo, but Hadraniel is fond of Mylen, and Mylen does want to be friends with Hadraniel...
