Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Lolis, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.

YOU ARE LOLI,

In order to avoided an unprovoked barrage of gunfire, you've just dived into the entrance of a fortified bunker in the middle of a swamp; to be met by an older man clad in a knee-length blue coat sporting a thick silver beard.
"Ah, welcome to the lab my dear. I was rather hoping you might stop by. Would you mind coming in to join me for some tea?"

[ ]Have a cup of tea.
[ ]Ask him what he wants from you.

"I like tea," you respond as you step pass through the door he holds open for you into the bunker proper.

"Excellent!" He closes the door, then strides past you down the narrow metal corridor. He gestures to the open door on the right, "please, make yourself at home. I'll fetch us tea and biscuits!"

Inside is a small bunk room, one bunk either side and barely enough space to stand between them. You perch on the edge of one of the bunks and await the man's return.

He does so soon enough, placing two mugs of hot tea and a small plate of assorted biscuits on the tiny bedside table at the head of the two bunks. You're reaching across to pluck at one of the chocolate-coated biscuits when he eagerly begins to talk at you.

"I hate to get straight to business like this, but it certainly is exciting that you stopped by here. I'm sorry about the less-than hospitable welcome by my guards, by the way. I had expressly forbidden them to do any harm to you. But this nonsense about the 'Giltinė' rumors... Ah, anyway! Yes, those two suggested that you'd be around here soon what with that whole mess the Marked One is kicking up. I really didn't think you'd actually show up this quickly, though! Just goes to show how impressive you really are, hmm? Maybe the Zone really does favor you."

You can't follow most of what he's saying, but you're pretty sure it doesn't matter. He doesn't seem to be trying to say anything meaningful to you. As far as you can tell, he's not doing it on purpose. There is genuine glee in his voice as he talks at you.

"It's definitely a positive thing for me, though. Having you join the experiment will most definitely-" He pauses, mid sentence.
"...are you going to drink your tea...?"

You take the cup of tea in both hands, bring it to your face and take a long breath. The herbal scent fills senses. Gingerly, you dip your tongue into the liquid. He certainly knows how to brew...

You keep your eyes locked on his as you take a deep gulp of the beverage. A satisfied grin fills his face.
"Because I've been drugged in the past. if I start feeling dizzy all of a sudden..." The grin falters for just a moment, but he continues exactly where he left off.

"So, yes. Our experiment. If you could join it, we could definitely make progress beyond anything we've managed so far. And I'm sure I could talk to the team into not trying to execute you... again..."
He shifts awkwardly before continuing, "Just a few more little pieces of data from this lab and I could send the expedition out with an actual chance of success! The finds we could make together!"

You interrupt his thoughts.
"Uhm... Maybe I'll help, but... I have no idea what's going on here..."

"Ah, of course... of course you'd have questions. Feel free to ask anything you need!"

"Doggy? Who is Doggy? A friend of yours? You nod vigorously. "I'm sorry, but I've not heard that name before. Don't look so down though, if it's the will of the fates, I'm sure you'll meet again."

You contemplate this statement for a moment, before moving on. "So who are you anyway?"

"Oh dear, how could I forget something so simple? I am Professor Sakharov, lead researcher and manager of this laboratory. We were placed here with the assistance and blessing of the military in order to research the anomalies of this Zone. However, they could not maintain the garrison, and so it is instead formed of local gunslingers. Not the finest, I admit, but they keep me safe and don't cost me much. But I'm sure that doesn't interest you. Is there anything else you want to know?"

You broach your next question delicately. "This Giltinė thing... what does it mean? Where did it come from?"

"Ah, a silly local superstition involving a little girl and poor fortunes. Just ignore those ignorant fools. We have much grander schemes in mind, my dear! Now then, if that is all you want to know, how about it? Would you like to help me in my research?"

You stand to leave, and he doesn't move to stop you. You make it a good three paces down the corridor before he responds.
"Ah, well. It's your choice, of course. I would never force you to do something against your will. Anyway, good luck with my guards. I'm sure they won't try to kill you this time."

"Clever old man". Ask him to bring in more detail about the "Glitne", see if we can use it to intimidate the guards. Also since the scientist brought us no harm, lets not try to cause to much damage to him or his assets.

Time to put this 'Giltinė' thing to use! You give a quick glance about the place, but everything seems either bolted down or too heavy or useless to carry. You head back into the double-door contraption and spin the wheel closed behind you. After a brief assault of chemical sprays, the door ahead unlocks. You prepare yourself, and enact the most intimidating action you can think of, by kicking the door open with all your strength.

You look about to see where the voice is emanating from. The old man is watching you intently from the porthole in the interior door. That's not helpful. Quick, damage assessment! Head: hurts but it doesn't seem serious. Left arm: check. Left leg: check. Right leg: check. Chest: your armored vest is a little torn from that blast, but otherwise intact.

It's so annoying.

Those children should just shut up and die.
That's not pain. This is pain.

You're being dragged and lifted, you can hear voices about you. The sound of a door being shut. A spray on your face, a thick smell in the air. Somewhere, that child is still wailing.

It's all superfluous to you. You just want the pain to go away.

Hands on your face aren't appreciated. Ever. You know of a quick solution to issues like this. You flick your head to one side and bite down hard.

You hear a meaty crunch, and at the same time, the child stops its bawling. Another hand cracks into your temple, and suddenly the pain is gone. So is almost everything else.

As you drift about the edge of consciousness, the taste of blood in your mouth, you can hear the room filled with a heated argument.

"Did you see that? She's evil, goddamn evi-"
"Enough! You're too being too rough. She's in shock..."

Another hand runs itself down your cheek. You wrench away from it.

"...and why should we be risking our lives?..."

"...pay you good mone-"
"You pay us squat!"

The darkness is really setting in now. You try and stay conscious, but it's not happening.

You open your eyes and sit up quickly. You're lying in a completely open swampland area. A few hundred meters away, you can see the bunker and the industrial area you came from. From here, you can actually see a tunnel in the ridge you descended on your way to the bunker, leading towards the center of the industrial area.

A semi-numb stinging sensation reminds you to look at your right arm, and you almost vomit at the sight of it. All the flesh of your upper muscle is a mess of ragged skin and exposed flesh. You can clearly see many little black specs embedded in there, as well as what you're pretty sure is bone.
You might actually have to deal with this, and pretty soon...

Nothing you can do about it now though, what with having nothing to treat yourself with.
Looking about, you seem to have three real choices ahead of you.

[ ]Head back to the bunker area.

>>
>>28058068
We can see bone. That's hospital grade of fucked up.
>>
>>28057797
The tunnel looks as inviting as anywhere else in this swamp...
It doesn't take you long to get under cover, and you do so just as the sun finishes setting, casting the world into total darkness. You fumble through your vest pouches for a moment before pulling your torch out. As you start to try and inspect your arm in the better light, you quickly find that it's rather difficult with only your left arm.
However, you're going to need to at least tie this up to stop the blood running down your arm if you intend to make any further progress.

You take the torch into your mouth and try to wiggle it to give a better light as you prod a little at your injury. It certainly stings, but not as much as it did. You start by gently plucking some of the obviously loose black flecks out of your flesh. The rest... you're going to need help with those.

As you poke about some more, it seems you were mistaken about the bone. At least, you can't see it any more. That's just as good, right?

You still need to stem the bloodflow, though. It's mostly stopped already, but a thick stream is flowing down to your wrist and dripping onto the floor of the tunnel.

With some difficulty, you unzip your vest and start to pull some of the bandage from about your abdomen. There's not exactly a lot left by this point, but there's... enough to keep you modest as well as wrap your arm up.
You could really do with a new shirt...

Well, it's no surgeon's work, and your arm is still just dead weight to you, but you're no longer likely to die at any moment. It will have to suffice for now.

You stuff the torch haphazardly back into its pocket, noticing as you do so that a number of your vest pockets are now empty.
Conversely, your backpack now actually has some weight to it.

You start to run through what equipment you have, and the situation begins to look more and more dire.
Obviously you've lost your rifle as some point, but even your pistol and bayonet are gone. The grenade pouches on your vest are empty, as are the magazine pouches. Awkwardly pulling your backpack from your shoulders, you find that it's been unzipped. They've even stripped you of your artifact...

In fact, the only things you still own are the clothes you're wearing, your torch and Neon's detector. You're alone, unequipped, unarmored, under-dressed, completely unarmed and wounded.
As you sit aghast contemplating this fact, you hear an irregular padding of footsteps echoing down the tunnel towards you.

The irregular padding was already pretty close before you even heard it. By now, whatever's making it is just a few yards away. You can't see what it is, though; the entire tunnel is pitch black and you can barely see your own figure. You can hear something half-way between a grumble and a labored breath as the footsteps come to a halt.

Your torch is still half sticking out of your vest pocket, and your Hello Kitty pack is hanging from your left elbow across your front.

[ ]Go for the torch.
[ ]Wait it out.

"If she doesn't join the expedition, we can't introduce ourselves!"
"I'm. Aware."
"How are we supposed to re-unite her with the mutt now?"
"Don't worry, we'll get another chance. Somehow. Come on, she's entering the tunnel. We'll intercept again on the other side."
The grassy knoll at the top of the ridge shifts its weight about slightly, then transforms into a blur of motion into the suburb.
The knoll next to it sighs despondently before following suit.

You press yourself in as flat as you can against the wall and don't move. Whatever the thing is perks slightly at your subtle movement. As it takes a few steps closer, you can just make out the dark shape of a humanoid figure in front of you. It's far too short to be a man, however, but much too broad to be a child. The stench of blood and unwashed bodies rolls over you as the thing breaths again, deep enough to rustle the loose strands of hair in front of your face.
A brush of movement, and a large hand, wider than your face, rests itself heavily upon your head. It begins to roughly muss from side to side, then ceases as quickly as it begun. The thing loses interest in you, and continues along the tunnel towards the swamp. As it passes the mouth into the starlight, you just catch a glimpse of a hooded cloak as it shuffles out of your view.

After a long while, you're convinced it really has gone, and let out a deep breath you didn't even realize you'd been holding.
Pushing yourself upright, you steel yourself to push further on into the tunnel. As your eyes are adjusting to the dark, you're starting to be able to just about make out the shape of the walls where they meet the floor. It would be slow going, but you could make it like this. Probably.
You take a single step forwards, and hear a quiet, harsh buzz from one of your vest pockets. It's Neon's detector.

Detector won't be much use if we can't see where we are going.
>>
>>28065300
You pull your torch and activate it, giving you a beam of vision along the tunnel. Now that you can see, you realize that you're actually stood in the mouth of a large sewer pipe. Ahead of you is a grating, cracked open with plenty of room to slip through. The metal is thoroughly rusted, and coated in a thick-looking hanging moss. As you move to take your detector out to see what it's buzzing for, you again find the issue of only having one good hand. You place the torch in your mouth and take the detector in your left hand, flipping open the top cover like you saw Neon doing. It doesn't appear to be displaying anything useful, but gives a harsh little buzz every few seconds.

You start a slow advance towards the grating, and the gap between the buzzing lessens significantly with each step. When you reach the grating, you tentatively extend your hand towards the mossy growth, and the detector's buzzing becomes a continuous noise. Best not to touch it.
The right side of the grating hole is completely clear of the growth, so you wiggle your way through with little effort. The detector's buzzing dies off quickly as you increase distance from the grating, and it soon falls silent, leaving only the sounds of your footsteps and breathing in the narrow passage. You flick the cover closed and return the device to its pocket.
>>
>>28065547
Look around, maybe we'll find a road.
>>
>>28065547
what do?
>>
>>28065547
It's hard to tell the passage of time when the only stimulus is the sound of your own footsteps, the only change in scenery being the occasional man-hole cover, but you can't imagine it was more than a few minutes since passing the grating that you emerge into a large open area, most likely a waste disposal facility judging by the fact that a sewer pipe flows to it.

Your small torch isn't powerful enough to illuminate anywhere deep into the room, but you can vaguely make out the circular shape of the room, and what looks like a stairwell on your left. You can definitely hear the light, steady dripping of water nearby, too.

[ ]Make for the stairs.

>[ ]Look around the room.
Seeing as we have absolutely nothing, any chance at acquiring anything, especially metal pipes, is worth taking.
>>
>>28065638
You take a few paces out into the open, swinging the beam of your torch about in the hope of picking out more details of the room. It's large, you can tell that much. At least 50 yards across. Pointing your torch upwards, you can't see the ceiling. But you can make out what appears to be catwalks spiraling upwards along the walls of the room. In the center is a thick tower of metal and piping, attached to the walls of the room in several places by thick electrical cables. You can hear the faint thrum of machinery from inside it, somewhere above you.

As you continue spinning on the spot, trying to get a better feel of the room, you hear moaning from the catwalk directly above you. Flicking your torch up, you find yourself staring into the vacant eyes of a ragged-looking man with a pistol held limply at his side. With another moan, one more of acknowledgement, he raises the pistol lazily in your general direction.

[ ]Seek cover.
[ ]Run for the stairs.
[ ]Throw something at him.
>>
>>28065780

>>

>[ ]Run for the stairs.
Not in fighting condition, not armed. It's probably better to just vacate the area.
>>
>>28065780
Before he can react further, you rotate on the spot and dart for the stairway you saw earlier. The bark of his pistol sounds, but the rounds fall nowhere near you. Hitting the first stair, you leap up the first few and continue your dash, switching your torch off as you climb. The stairs turn back on themselves half way up, leading onto the catwalk the man had fired at you from. You pause at the top of the flight.

From this position, you're shrouded in darkness but you can see the man's outline. He's almost within arm's reach of you, and is leaning precariously over the banister in order to try to see up the flight of stairs.

You crash into him from behind, tipping your weight forwards to off-balance him. He rolls clean over the banister and plummets like a sack of spuds to the concrete below. There's a distinct "crump" sound on impact, and his pistol skitters away across the ground.
You waste no time running back down the stairs to retrieve it before moving over to check the body. You nudge him a few times with your foot and he doesn't react, so you slip his pistol into your belt and reach to empty his pockets when his eyes flick open, his hand darting out to grip your wrist hard.

You pull back and start kicking him as hard as you can in his face. He doesn't make a sound as you beat on him, other than a few wheezing breaths. You keep kicking until he releases you, and back up a few paces to watch him begin to struggle to stand himself up again.

The sound echoes around the room as the man slumps back to the ground. You waste no time in re-holstering your pistol and skimming him for loot. He doesn't have much of worth on him, but you do pocket a few more pistol rounds and some dubious-looking food. You also find a wallet in his back pocket and take it for later perusal.

That's two shots now fired in a short space of time. If there are any other nasties here, they're probably already on their way. You quickly make your way back up the stairs and onto the catwalk. From here, you have two directions to choose from.

[ ]Take the concrete tunnel on your level.

The catwalk definitely looks like the way out. You switch your torch back on as you follow up to the next level and along the catwalk, your footsteps ringing on the metal. The catwalk crosses the room here, past the central tower and up another set of stairs. As you bring yourself around ready to climb this set, you hear a familiar moaning from the landing above you.

At least two more of the shufflers are making their way towards this stairwell. With how slow they react, you could probably take them out with little effort. However, a more subtle approach might be worthwhile.

[ ]Take them both out now.
[ ]Hide under the stairs.

>>
>>28066956
You flick your torch off again and slip to one side, taking a place under the stairs before the men reach the top of the stairs. They descend past you, boots stomping on metal just inches from your face. Neither of them bother to look about as they shuffle along the catwalk away from you. One of them seems to be armed with a short shotgun, the other with a pistol similar to the one you're holding (though in somewhat better condition). The thought again takes you that you could take both of these guys without them even being able to react. You start to take aim, when something about the difference between that man's pistol and yours strikes you as odd.

[ ]Examine your new pistol.

You look down at the gun in your hand properly for the first time. Not only is the entire barrel rusted through, the firing hammer seems stiff, and the magazine doesn't seem to be slotting properly into place. You press the magazine release to see if you can slot it bac-

PING

Something resembling a spring fires out of the top of the magazine as soon as it's cleared the grip. Well, that's useful...

The sound echoes through the room, and both men begin rotating on the spot to face you.
As the shotgunner lazily brings his gun up to point at you, you reflexively point and squeeze the trigger. Your pistol fires, and the bullet hits him in the center of the forehead, blowing brain matter across his companion; who doesn't even seem phased as he raises his own to you.

With the pistol now empty, you don't exactly have many options for immediate survival. You drop to one knee, making yourself a smaller target as the man pulls the trigger on you. The round catches you in the right shoulder, knocking you over, but doesn't penetrate your vest. The pain of your right arm being jerked is significant, but not enough to lose your focus. As your foe adjusts his aim to hit you again, you duck back in behind the stairs; his round glances off the metal inches from your head.

The pistol definitely fires, and you have spare rounds tucked away in your trouser pocket, but... how are you meant to do this with one hand??

We'd just be somewhere else, in a different kind of trouble. Because the point of this quest isn't to make the smart decisions that a competent stalker would make. Loli isn't a competent stalker. It's not to be succesful at everything in spite of incompetence either. Loli has defeats. Hell, our protag doesn't even have a goal. Didn't have one to begin with, still doesn't. The point really is just that a little girl is running around in the Zone and getting into every kind of trouble she can poke her sticky fingers at, which is a hilarious situation that hopefully entertains both us and Kaleun. So if something horrible happens, well, honestly that was just long overdue and part of the story. If something wonderful happens, also great.
>>
>>28068829
After what feels like an age, the pain starts to dissipate, and you sit upright. It seems you were a pretty good shot, or lucky, since there are now two un-moving bodies at the base of the stairs.
You pull yourself up and totter over to them, prodding about them with your foot. They're both definitely dead, so you start checking them for anything useful. A job made even more difficult by the fact that you're still trying to stem the bleeding from your arm. One of them, the pistolier, is wearing a pack, so you roll him over and force it open. Usefully, there are some bandages in here! You waste no time in messily wrapping up your arm as tightly as you can.

Now turning your attention to more interesting loot, you take the pistol and slip it into your belt, as well as a spare magazine into your vest pouch. The other body has a shortened shotgun and a few spare shells, which you store loosely in your trouser pocket. There's nothing else of interest on them, so you leave them as they are and head up the stairs. On the next level, you find a concrete stairway leading to a tiled corridor-like passage. You follow it around a corner to find an open metal door. You edge up the doorway and peek around the corner.

"All hail the Monolith."
And see an all-too familiar sight that you don't recall ever seeing before.
>>
>>28069144
Awww shit. We are looking straight at the Monolith, aren't we?

A full squad of men in heavy armor, armed to the teeth, kneel in a circle in the middle of the room. Their stance would suggest they're in prayer, or paying respect to something. The men are muttering praises as if to themselves, paying no attention to their environment.
A number of corpses in various states (none of them the distinctive red on black of these men) litter the room.

It should probably be easy enough to sneak your way about them to the exit on the far side of the room. Just as you start to make a move, you feel a solid grip on your shoulder from behind.

"Sister," a flat voice addresses you. "Where have you been? The Monolith was worried for you."
A large man in one of the suits lined with steel pipes is stood directly behind you, rifle slung over his shoulder.
"Come, sit with us. And give thanks for the bounty of the Monolith." He moves you gently to one side so you can pass you, taking up his place in the circle and joining the others in prayer.

Welp, the only way out is through!

You sit down on the lip and dangle your legs into the hole, when the nearest of your "brothers" breaks prayer to look at you. "Leaving already, Sister? It is always good to see such devotion. But remember that rest is also required in order to serve the Monolith to your fullest potential."

>STALKER quest was done twice in the past. I enjoyed reading neither of them.
>Loli Stalker has been suggested a few times and noone ever did anything with it.
>I did something with it, and I'm kind of having fun.

>Point 3 is kind of all the justification I require to do something.

Like I said, I don't normally like to rain on other peoples' parades, and I don't take issue with the quest, it just mystifies me because it is so far removed from anything STALKER

But it isn't?

Not the greatest of reasons I guess, but hey, I'll take it. Hope your thread 3 (4?) doesn't get downvoted to below -20, maybe have a chat to LL on suptg about it. Looks like there's been 75 votes on all your threads so yeah, there's been fuckery on both sides

That's the idea. The little girl absolutely does not fit into the setting, and that contrast creates the potential for fun. It's like a buddy cop movie, except one of the cops is the setting.

You don't respond, but simply drop yourself gently into the hole away from them. It's pretty dark in here, so you pop your torch back out. It's starting to get irksome, having to keep putting it away to do things...
There's a lot of fallen rubble in the hole, but you're small enough to squeeze through the gaps with no problem. You fall out the other side into a large concrete sewer pipe much like the one you came in by. There's a serious amount of rubble and debris piled up along the base of the pipe, and it's clear this way hasn't been used for some time.

You pick a direction at random and start walking, torch held over your shoulder to give you maximum view distance along the tunnel. Not that the extra distance is all that much, the tunnel seems to twist and turn every couple dozen yards. As you clamber your way over the rubble, you notice quite a few bodies scattered about. They all look like they've been here a while, and someone's already pilfered them for all they're worth. You continue on, past a couple of pipe junctions, picking a direction at random each time. You're pretty sure you're lost, but some how you just know which way you want to be walking.

At the third junction, you find the rotting corpse of a monstrously large... thing. Sort of like a giant face attached to a pair of huge hands. Well, whatever. It's dead now. You skip past it and carry on down another direction.
Eventually, your random walking brings you to a dead end with a single rusty ladder hanging from a manhole entry in the ceiling.
You clamber your way up the pipe, and breach the open air of the clear night sky, finding yourself...

Back where you started.
You're behind a wire fence on top of a building looking over the fortified bunker, some thirty feet away from the tunnel you came in by.
Well, it wasn't all for nothing, right?

With how dark the night is, and how tiresome the day has been, it would probably be a good idea to find somewhere to rest for the night. On the other hand, there's sure to be something going on nearby, right?

Sleep. We don't need to have sleep deprivation messing up our already less than stellar rolls.

Be wary of The Zone fellow stalkers. If we want to sleep we should do so further in. There are snorks that could jump the fence.

You examine the nearby buildings, and find one with a comfy-looking doorway. Before you settle down though, you have a look about in some of the nearby abandoned vehicles. The back of a truck has some old cardboard boxes. Perfect! You take one with you, head back to the doorway and set up camp, curling up in the box that's just about the right size for you.
Tonight might be cold, but it could be worse.

You huddle in, making sure to lie on your left side, and try to sleep through to the morning.
