You are an adventurer, you probably won't be doing too much actual adventuring in the immediate near future. After your recent relapse in demonic possession, an issue you'd thought to have been resolved years ago, you figure it would be best to take a break to get that issue under control before returning to the field. After all, the last thing you want is to risk awakening the demon again and putting your new colleagues here at the 765 Professionals adventuring guild in danger.

As you enter the guildhall upon your return from going after Miki, you wonder what sort of reaction you'll get from the others to your earlier revelation of this possession issue and announcement of your plans to take time off. None of them were upset enough to storm off like Miki did, but you did see a lot of concerned and upset expressions during your announcement earlier. Perfectly understandable, of course.

Rather than put any pressure on anyone by approaching them, you decide to find a place to yourself and let whoever wants to talk to you come as they wish. Seeing that all of the main lounge areas of the guildhall are occupied, you head on through the guildhall to the training yard, greeting Kotori briefly as you pass by her desk.
>>
You're intercepted halfway there by Haruka, who leaves her seat by the windows with Chihaya, Iori, and Yayoi to give you a tight hug. "How's Miki?", she asks.

>What do you tell her?

>Magic number for today is 6; see the pastebin in the OP for a description of the dice system used in this quest if you don't know what that means.

Huh, looks like the subject line got cleared somehow. My apologies.
>>
>>27957858
"She'll be alright. Just headed to the park for a nap," you reply. "How are things here? Anyone I should or shouldn't talk to?"

"Well, Yayoi...might need a few things cleared up. She was a little confused about some things, and I think our explanations only made it worse." Haruka glances back at the lounge area she just vacated, and following her gaze you see Yayoi looking your way, sniffling audibly.

You head over to Yayoi and have a seat on the couch next to her. "Hey. You alright?"

The looks up at you with watery eyes, the sniffles intensifying noticeably. "P-Producer..."

"Yes?"

The waterworks break loose in earnest now, and she clutches your arm tightly as tears stream down her cheeks. "Producer, please don't die! I don't want you to die!"

"W-what? Yayoi, I'm not dying!"

"B-but, you're sick, right? You're sick and you gotta go to the temples, and you only go to the temples when you're really, really sick, and I said I was gonna make you ch-chicken soup cuz that's w-what we always do when one of my brothers or sisters is sick but Iori said that wouldn't help and if chicken soup won't help then it's g-gotta be really, really, *really* bad!"

"I'm not going to die, Yayoi. It's not that kind of sickness at all. You know how sometimes people get really angry and do stuff they regret later? It's like that, just a whole lot worse. As far as my body goes, I'm perfectly healthy."

She looks up at you, the tears abating. "Really?"

You smile at her, giving her a reassuring pat on the head. "Really. Though I'd still be happy to eat your chicken soup if you ever make any sometime."

"O-oh. Okay." She giggles sheepishly, looking a bit embarrassed to have gotten so worked up over a misunderstanding.

"Sorry about that, Producer," Chihaya says. "She didn't really seem to get what this whole possession thing was about, and she was so worked up about it that she ended up taking everything we said to try to explain it entirely the wrong way."

"Well, it's still an improvement over what she thought originally," Iori says. "As misunderstandings go, Producer dying of sickness is better than Producer turning into a monster and all of us having to kill him ourselves. Really, Producer, you're terrible, you know that? Just the worst. Making poor Yayoi cry like that." She tosses her hair behind one shoulder and turns her face away with a dismissive "hmph!" The glance she casts back at you briefly tells you the chiding is mostly hot air, though.

>What now?

"Yeah, I'm awful. But as gracious and merciful as you are, I'm sure I can convince you to forgive me eventually."

Iori shoots you a look out of the corner of her eye. "Well, perhaps I could forgive you. Eventually."

After a few moments, Ritsuko calls over to you, "Producer, could I speak with you for a moment?" You go over to her desk and have a seat in the chair she offers you.

"Now, I can't say I'm happy, exactly, that you kept all this from us at first," she begins, "but I've talked with the Chief about it, and, well, I guess I can't really hold it against you. You couldn't have known it would come up again, after all. And at any rate, what's done is done. Whatever your past, you're part of the team now, and here at 765Pro we look out for each other. So...here." She hands you a letter, and with it another small bit of parchment, folded over. "I happen to know a few folks at the temple of the Hero here, from back in my squiring days. That's them on that paper there, give that letter to any of them and they should be able to get you the help you need. Should be a little fiaster than if you had to get in touch with the monasteries you went to before, anyway."

Somewhat surprised, you thank Ritsuko and put the letter and short list of people you could bring it to in your pocket.

Azusa chimes in with her own encouragement. "Don't worry, Producer, we're all behind you every step of the way. You just take it easy and work things out at your own pace, okay?"

"Thanks so much," you tell Azusa and Ritsuko. "I'll count on the two of you for support."

As nobody seems to have anything else to say, you turn to look around the room, catching Kotori's gaze over by the front door. You head over and sit down in one of the extra chairs next to her desk.

"How's it going with everyone?", she asks.

"Pretty well, actually. Miki was a little upset, but she's cooling off, and everyone else seems pretty supportive."

"Well, that's good then," she says with a smile.

She actually seems to be taking this quite smoothly herself. There's a hint of concern in her expression, but nothing like the way everyoe else is reacting. Come fo think of it, you don't recall her seeming especially worked up when you were making your announcement either.

>>

"You seem to be taking this all surprisingly well," you note.

"Oh, well, it wasn't really a surprise to me," she says with a conspiratorial smile. "The Chief had me help with picking a new Producer, so I knew all about it from the start. The Chief even had me draft some of the correspondence we sent to the monasteries you'd been at when we needed recommendations from them."

Oh. Well, that's a bit more...mundane than you'd thought. For some reason you'd half expected her to have seen something just like this in the past at some point.

"So...all that stuff from my past didn't bother you?"

"Well, it was certainly a little alarming at first," she says. "But all your recommendations came back singing your praises. And if it's something well and truly behind you...well, who doesn't have a few skeletons in their closet?"

"Except it's not exactly behind me any more," you point out.

Kotori just smiles. "Hey, you beat it once, you can beat it again, right? I'm sure you'll be fine."

At this point, you hear bells tolling from the distance. The sun will be going down soon, and it's about time to be heading out for the evening. Sure enough, most everyone in the guildhall starts gathering their things and heading toward the door.

>What do?

Everyone except Miki and the Twins is around. Typical price for a meal at an inn or restaurant is 1-2 silver, so 12-24 sp to feed everyone here depending on how nice a place you go for. The bottom end there would be something decent, but not especially nice/exceptional, the upper end fairly nice but nothing super fancy. Naturally, the sky's the limit if you're going super fancy, though since you only have 70 sp and change that's probably out of the question here.

>legal drinking age
>medieval fantasy setting

For starters, not really any good way to enforce that without proper ID infrastructure, which doesn't exist. For another, while there may be cultural opposition to letting youngsters have stronger drinks, weak ale would be a regular staple for everyone.
Plus, even if there were such a law, legal adulthood is age 15 and this would presumably not be a culture like the US where legal drinking age is later than age of majority.

As the girls start heading out, saying their goodbyes as they go past, you ask Kotori if she'd care to join you for dinner. She's accepts your offer cheerfully.

"After all," she says, "I'm sure you could use the company after all this, huh?"

Once everyone else has left and Kotori has her own things packed up, you head out into the streets, Kotori locking the guildhall door behind you. "So, seeing as you'll be taking a break from proper adventuring, want to make up for it with something a little adventurous for dinner?", she asks.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well, this is Kethyria! It's a big city, you know. We get people in here from all over the place, even other countries. And some of them open inns that serve food like they make back in their home country. There are a lot of places run by olks from around Nezev Oneia, and even a few from Pag Baryet! Being from small towns in the countryside, I bet you've never had foreign foods like you can find here in the city, have you?"

You must admit, you have not.

"Well, let's have an adventure then. You pick the place, I'll pick up the tab. Surprise me!"

Kotori giggles. "Be careful what you wish for," she says. "Haven't you heard? They eat maggoty cheese in Nezev Oneia. And ox testicles in Pag Baryet!"

"So I've heard...but I'm going to assume these foreigners wouldn't stay in business here long if that were the kind of food they were selling, so I'll take my chances."

Kotori leads you to what is clearly a foreigner's district, judging by the exotic clothing (and, in many cases skin tones) of the people you see in the streets. "Pagi?", you ask Kotori, guessing based on the loose robes you see to be the prevailing fashion here.

"Yep! If we're going to have an adventure, we may as well make it a big one!"

You stop at a small restaurant, tiny by comparison to the common rooms of the inns you're used to frequenting, and quite crowded for its small size. Upon entering, you're struck by a bewildering array of exotic aromas, all manner of strange fruits and spices overwhelming your senses. Remembering the prices you've seen at markets when merchants came through with Pagi wares, you're grateful for the loot you got out of those tunnels. This is probably going to be pricey, but you should be able to afford it.

Sure enough, the price for a meal is three silver pieces -- steep by any standards, doubly so for a place looking like this one.
But when the food arrives, you find the expense more than acceptable.
