>Sorry guys I couldn't wait

8th thread devoted to the glorious Star Krakens Chapter.

>Fightan
>Prayan
>Squiddin

There's a number of Companies on the 1d4chan page that have absolutely nothing about them, we need to go over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb and get rid of everything that isn't still 'canon' with us.

The map of the Deep was created in the last thread, with planet icons and everything. I propose we get that out of the way, it'll make for interesting ideas for the remainders of the companies.

So this is what the friendly anon made up in the last thread.

I think the yellow parts are the 'Spinward Deep', the part of the nebula that the Grendel and other forces would just skim in order to get away from whoever was chasing them.

The dark part of the map should be the 'Tailing Deep', that is to say, the part of the Deep that everyone hates. It's an inky black nightmare with more or less nothing of repute in it (until now, that is).

Well it's fine by me, I think we should really start from the top and work down. If we can get planet names and bits of fluff, we'll have a massive backstory to fill and be able to slot in the other Companies as well.

Just out of curiosity, how did you make it?
>>
I missed the memo, did /tg/ actually make something of merit?
>>
>>27948690
You have no idea.

http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Star_Krakens

Gaze and fall to your knees at our many writefags!
>>
>>27948487
Also have to point out that the 'yellow' parts are parchment, the Deep is just the black cloud.

Did I do bad? I didn't realise it consumed an entire sector.
>>
>>27948718
Right, so the Tailing Deep is the really black bit and the Spinward Deep is just the very edges?

Fine by me, I think one thing that was agreed in the last thread was that the group of 3 dead worlds was originally the Grendel's territory. Is that still a thing?
>>
>>27948735
Tailing and Spinward are glactic directions, equivelant to left and right. They don't really apply like that, I think.

Yeah, the trio of dead worlds are supposed to be the Grendel worlds, and the Special world is the Loghthouse. I'll post more later, Im at work and captcha is shitting me.
>>
>>27948759
We'll have to change a little bit of the Chapter history then.
>>
>>27948487
Forgeworld: Eden (Or Norse Equivalent)
Trying to think of a decent background but I dont know enough about the Krakens lore.
Are they an undermanned chapter? One thousand Strong? How strong were the Grendel? Are the Krakens on decent terms with chapters outside of the Raven Guard(Who i read they succeeded from)?
>>
>>27948773
Idunn was a Norse God who looked after the golden fruit that gave the gods their immortality, so I think we'll be best to call it that. Let's face it, Eden and Asgard are too generic.

We've got 800 Marines at the moment, Captain Achab brought it from about 1500 down to that amount when we went crazy and tried to eliminate the Grendel.

See the above drawfag, the Grendel and green, lean and mean. They're really vicious, dangerous and at the very least quite intelligent as they were space-faring.

No idea about relations with other Chapters.
>>
>>27948784
>Norse Goddess
She'll be pissed if I didn't correct that.
>>
>>27948773
That's all on the wiki. Also I'd refrain from making every world in the sector ABOUT the Star Kraken. They're relatively recent additions to the sectors (reclaimed in M36, Krakens Heorot Crusade in M39)
>>
>>27948794
We'll give the worlds outside the Deep names, maybe fleeting mentions and minor events if they're so close to the Kraken's territory, but I agree. Let's keep the major writefags to things in the Deep and on the outskirts.
>>
>>27948667
>>27948679

Those old style diving helmets look fucking dumb.

So on the one hand /tg/ rightly dislikes the kind of thinking from games workshop that leads to SM chapters getting visually stereotyped to all fuck, with Yiffs riding wolves and wearing wolves all the time and Imperial Fists riding giant hands into battle.

But then they take a perfectly serviceable concept and predictably go totally fucking overboard with it. Someone write to GW and tell them that Raven Guard and Blood Ravens need to adorn themselves with feathers and also have raven-shaped helmets, any chapter with Angel in its name should now have wings built into their power armour.
>>
>>27948735
Would the Grendel have had enough strength to mount an invasion on the forgeworld? If not an invasion a large scale raid that would destroy a large portion of it?
Other than that I cant think of a way to indebt the forgeworld to the Star Krakens.
Unless we dont want them to be indebted.

Forgeworld Eden has little to do with the Star Krakens beyond the occasional ressupply. The nobles of the planet are snobby and arrogant, believing themselves to be masters of the universe as they stand atop the uppermost spires of their Forgeworld. They view the Star Krakens outlandish, roguelike tendencies with distain and try to have as little to do with them as possible.

Knowing that to refuse aid to The Emperors Finest would be treasonous they do give the Star Krakens supplies, after a lengthy waiting period so "Those damn vikings" get the message that they arent welcome.

(This can probably be prettied up quite a bit by someone else. My brain is mush at the moment. I can write another version were the forgeworld is indebted but I honestly think that having the forgeworld not steeply indepted to the Star Krakens would help create the image of Roving Vikings taking what they need.
>>
>>27948794
Of course.
>>
>>27948810
You seem upset.
>>
>>27948810
It's like all you did was look at the pretty pictures.

We've been steering away from visibly Nautical themes since Thread 1. Trust me, if we hadn't been cracking down on it, you'd be looking at harpoon wielding diving suit marines with bioshock dreads.
>>
>>27948667

>>
>>27948908
>>27948810
These were drawfags from the very start of the thread, we've moved away from squid-tentacles, diving helmets and what not.

Just take the drawfag for what it is, a cool representation of fictional characters.
>>
Right, let's get to work.
>>27948487

The cluster of 5 worlds in the bottom right of the map. We've got a death world, a forge world, a hive world, an agri-world and a frontier world.

Seems the 4 Imperium worlds would be very dependent on one another. Maybe the Forge world was set up first, discovered the possible hive+agri worlds, they got colonised and then the frontier world was only just discovered?
>>
>>27949037
do we get our techpriests from both of the forge worlds, or just one?

I could see some rivalries sparking up between the two.
>>
>>27949169
>whynotboth.jpeg

Good idea, would lead to some interesting conflicts between 2 Techpriests claiming their Forge world is the best.

Doesn't seem like the regulars have happened upon this thread yet, hopefully the ideas will pick up and ideas will flow like honey and milk.
>>
In the last thread:
>It might be Jjojos, the sulfur world belched out of the Deep with the Eldar ruins on it. It's been in Siewurd's background for a while. Other than that I have no idea.
That would probably be the forbidden world just on the edge of the lit portion of the Deep, I would think.
>>
>>27949425
Is that lit portion of the Deep, the bit that Huginn is 'illuminating'?

If so, there's a shit load of space there that's got absolutely nothing in. Can we fill that in with my various water-themed occurences?
>>
>>27949445
It was mentioned above that the 'special' world is Mobius/The Lighthouse, so I figured the lit area around it was the part the Star Kraken could easily navigate. I don't actually know.
>>
>>27948814
Have them also produce the vast quantities of Tempest bolts (or rather, cheaper knockoff Tempest bolts) which the Star Kraken so love to use.
>>
>>27949445
MapAnon here, I'm beginning to think my Sector Map is a little too confusing. Is it confusing? Are we all confused?
>>
>>27949459
Makes sense, the penal planet near it will link in with the 'Judgement of the Void' writefag on the 1d4 page, I'm assuming that's where their prisoners are sent to after their horrific treatment.

Should we make the death world, just to the right of Mobius, Jjojos? And maybe have the forbidden world as something different?
>>
>>27949473
No, it's fine dude. If you could shove a few preliminary names and tags on it, that'd be great. Just so we can identify which planets we're talking about more easily.

Also, the frontier world near the Grendel worlds:

I've got the idea in my head, that the Grendel attacked this world and pretty much destroyed it before. The Imperium is trying to take over these new worlds, as this Frontier world is their first attempt.

Nice one MapAnon, I think we better think up some ideas for the unclassifieds.
>>
>>27949597
How about this: The Frontier World near the Idunn isn't a Frontier world due to its low tech and new settlement, but rather it's just the sector naval base orbiting a simple world?
>>
>>27949615
Wait, I don't get you.

So we'd ignore the world as it is, and just reference the naval base on the map?
>>
>>27949723
I was thinking of the Traveller destination of Frontier Worlds, in that they're worlds with low technology/population base and can be the seat of military bases or corporate bodies. I didn't realise (til I just looked it up) it specifically referred to recently colonised worlds only.

My bad. Still we need a Naval Base somewhere. Also where are all the Krakens tonight?
>>
>>27949761
I suppose the OTHER Forge World could be the seat of military power in the sector. Have a Mechanicus heavy fleet also explains why they were so reluctant to even try and pursue Grendel into the Deep.
>>
>>27949761
Well the usual Krakens are probably only just waking up, they'll be here in a few hours.

We do need a base somewhere I agree, should we just use up one of the 'unclassified' spots, or should we wait for the others to voice their opinions?

OK. Although I presented a more coherent and less randumb (compared to thread 6) version of them, I think you'll make them much better.

Plus did anyone done those calcified brothers? Those inside Dreadnoughts who got mutated and turned into coral statues, and whose blood was luminescent?
>>
>>27949465
Also, the reason why the Star Krakens don't get much interference about Huginn and Muninn and the Lighthouse is because they play the two off each other.

Stop being a plague marine!
>>
>>27951416
I thought we dropped the calcified brothers as being too much, "Terrible secret that would spell doom to the chapter."

If we're revisiting the concept, I say that it's not a mutation. Their geneseed, aside from the already decided upon flaw, is pure. The issue is that something in the Deep causes the calcification. The Krakens don't know what causes it and you'll have one marine develop the condition despite all the other marines that were deployed alongside him come out fine. They're hidden away, reported as dead from other causes and the Star Krakens make no mention of this to anyone. However, their spies in the AdMech report that Explorator fleets have been reporting people struck down with an unknown ailment that causes massive tumor growth where flesh meets cybernetics.
>>
>>27951517
Aside from the stupid harpoon bolt,it looks badass. Get someone to shooptrace it or howsitcalled.
>>
>>27948652
Plus the Slaaneshi Siren should be a offshoot of the classic Daemonette.

>>27951497
Yeah, I toned down it by removing the randumb element and made it more coherent. Plus go battle Nurgle and regain your health.

>>27951517
Sweet.

>>27951523
Dang, so it was that something changed them, not mutated on their own...well we should actually revise this because it's too cool to leave.
>>
>>27949233
I think this would be a cool idea, however they need something to compare their rivalries to. For example, One Forge World dedicates itself to the reclaimation and upkeep of ancient archeotech, claiming that the archeotech of the past was perfect and needs to be replicated perfectly for man to thrive. The other Forgeworld believe in advancing current technologies, either with inspiration from xenos artifacts or entirely original concepts, and while holds past archeotech in high regard, they feel looking backwards is not the answer.

Just shooting from the hip here.

>>
>>27951607
I don't know about driving them mad, but, while the AdMech leave a lot of the exploration to the Star Krakens, they still send out their own guys since they don't really trust the Krakens to not break shit or to not try to keep stuff for themselves.

>Long exposure to this sightless, unreadable traverse can have unusual psychological consequences for those caught within, noted for inspiring an almost immediate sense of claustrophobic panic in the average man, and going so far as to drive high order Mechanicus priests temporarily mad.

>>27951707
My idea with scattering Unclassified objects around in the Deep was to leave something mysterious about the place, especially in the Sea of Nix and The Uncharted Depths. Personally, I think names of creepy phenomena work better than actual descriptions - just an opinion.
>>
>>27951517
>>27951571
I'm back, these 2 are awesome. Kraken Marine is great, and I didn't realise you had access to a number of backgrounds. I love the new map.
>>
>>27951523
>>27951416

Could this be part of their lore? Instead of it being something negative, they view it as a positive, however the rest of the Imperium views it as a mutation of sorts?

For instance, when a brother becomes 'calcified', the Kraken Marines view it as a boon bestowed by the Emperor. They view it as a sort of 'ascendency' that Marines aspire to. When they begin calcification, they get hidden away to praise the Emperor and meditate on their calling. Once they get interred into the Dreadnaught, and they begin to become coral-like and luminescent, they are thought to be 'bringing the guiding light of the Emperor to the darkest depths of the Galaxy.'

However, because its a gene-flaw/mutation, they have to hide this from Inquisitors et al because 'only chaos are granted mutations'.

>>27951839
This calcified stuff is ridiculous. The only way you're going to get it if there is no genesee mutation is though disease, or warp shenanigans all across the sector. The former can be contained and destroyed. The latter implies the Deep is sinister and twisted on a foundational level. And if its a gene-seed mutation, then why didn't it show up earlier? This is unneccesary goes way too far with the "sea" theme. We're not going full totemic animal on the kraken, and we're not going full "aqua-marines" eitehr

Focus on something else than marines turning to coral. Like how the chapter might've fucked up since it's founding

The Phorcys Sector

Phorcys was a primordial Greek God, sone of Gaia and Pontus.

He's the Greek God of the "hidden dangers of the deep". What could be more fitting?

He also fathered a monstrous race of human-crabs called the Phorcydes, let's turn them into a native species on one of the water worlds on this sector, but keep them 100% crab.

>>27951920
The deathworld at the bottom of the map is where the Chaplains go to hunt the Valravn for their initiation rites.

Known only by it's Administratum numerical designation of XV-113A7J, it's a cold, dim world at the edge of its star's habitable zone covered 90% by water. Located in the Southern Hemisphere, it's sole landmass, barring a few island chains, is a dreary, wet locale beset by high winds and frequent storms. Agriculture is nearly impossible and the creatures that inhabit the land include the valravn, winged canines rumored to be able to take the form of a man, arturachs, highly aggressive herd animals, and gargugas, large armored amphibians who burrow in the ground and ambush passersby. The few hundred souls who make up the human population are crammed into Port Elvers and tend to the automated fleets that harvest the ocean to fill the appetites of sector nobility for exotic cuisine.

True, although it's not necessarily the Kraken's war. I'm uploading Draft3 with a few names/locations/updates added, might pop back in an hour or so. Think up some map stuff while I'm gone.

>>
>>27952312
How do you do this? Is it in photoshop, or is there a program for doing this kind of stuff?
>>
>>27952312
Well how do you guys want to proceed. Do you want to go through the map, name the planets/locations and then write a few lines of fluff about them?

I don't think fluffing out the entire systems history would be very good, only a small entry for each planet would suffice.
>>
>Nautalica

A world that is almost entirely covered by vast oceans of salt water, it is a unique sort of agri-world in which great farms of water plants and animals are harvested to feed the populations of the nearby frontier and hive worlds.

The volcanic activity taking place under the planet ensures that the vast seas are salty but rich in minerals and nutrients for the many varied creatures that live there.

Man can only exist here in a few types of dwellings that all aid its purpose as an agri-world. Its capital is called Higher Purpose, and it is located on a massive raised platform of rock just below the surface of the ocean. Portions can be raised to allow for space craft to take off and land. At night, its artificial lights ignite the ocean in color, making it shine like a beacon in the infinite oceans. The planet, especially Higher Purpose, is often the target of nearby orks (who kind of act like the Smokers from waterworld, with rusted, smoking machines on sea and air to raid farmers and floating cities) and Grendel forces.

The Empirium of Man has ensured that what few jagged mountains jutting from the oceans are the foundations for towering cities that serve as both managerial offices and rallying points for military forces on the planet. Fishermen, nauti-farmers and deep dwellers all use cities as gathering points for their harvests so that they can be processed and exported. Extensions of these cities are in the form of vast, floating processing platforms that absorb alien kelp and fish. Farmers that dwell on floating platforms of shells and bones, refuse on the backs of floating colonies of pitch-black jellyfish, use their harvests of sea weed and fish to feed the Empirium. Deep dwelling cities are built below the oceans to harvest sea grass and to hunt the massive creatures that have never seen the light of stars.

>You guys can decide cities, points of interest, and local personalities.

That's good, could we just slap this description on Vetinin instead? Makes sense to just get it out of the way and everything fits perfectly.

In any case, good job anon.

Not to mention those two places seem to be the same now.

>>27952408
Should we make a 1d4chan page for the sector, link it to the Kraken and then use 1d4chan to write short descriptions of the sector?

did we just go from making a marine chapter to making an entire sector due to the awesomeness of our background fluff??
>>
>>27952508
Well I wanted to fluff out the Deep from day one, but I was imagining just having a pirate map with various water-based occurences, like Achab's Passage and the Ekman Spiral, much like on this map.

But as it turns out, yes, we're going to be the first /tg/ Chapter to fully fluff out the whole damn sector.

As for a separate page, let's see how much stuff gets written.
>>
>>27952525
Writefag here.

What do you want/need work on? I can write some fluff points if needs be.

>Coming in late to the party. Apologies
>>
>>27952584
Jesus, I don't really know.

I know we were having arguments about Techpriests, so we'll ignore them for now.

To be honest, I think we'll do really well if we get some more of this sector done. Pick a planet, think how it relates to the ones near it and fluff all you want.

Or pick one of those unclassified, and fluff them. They're all going to be some kind of phenomena within the Deep, if that helps.
>>
>>27952584
If you're describing planets, keep it to a paragraph or two. If something important has happened on the planet make it a separate entry.
>>
>>27952630

Lets start with names for planets, it will be less confusing to whoever comes to make fluff later and they will be blank slates for making their own fluff. Once we get several names and backgrounds established, we can think about how these planets relate to each other.

Yes. Because gentlemen,we created a chapter of Space Marines. We moved away from overt refs and sueness. Then when accused of sueness, we thought "well we are skirting that edge" and we were like, "fuck". But then we made the Grendel, we made the enemies the place they fight and live and die in.

We fleshed out our boys, the Star Krakens are badass and diverse, they got characters and personalities now. But now we got all these new toys and nowhere to play in and no one else to really fight.

Lets make some monsters and worlds guys. I love the map anon and you guys are making, I love the how fucking horrific the Grendel have become. Fuck the agworld anon proposed with fucking smoker orks sounds amazing. Lets keep at this shit.

I would say that a Forge World needs more crafty name. Though most craftsmen of Norse Mythology were dwarfs, so not sure about the name not being overused somewhere in WH/WH40K.
>>
>>27952786
Surely, you remember thread six when the idea of Farnsworth-esque techmarines were introduced?
>>
>>27952832
Oh shit, just noticed.

Idunn was meant to be the Agri-worlds name, but looks like that's gone out of the window now with Vetinin. Try and find a good name for the Forge World, that is your quest.
>>
>>27952762
The monster part us going to be nuts here. I love creating monsters. Should they be giant Atlantic horseshoe crabs? Or small swarms of creatures that act like pistol shrimps?
>>27952786
Well, the Apothecaries apart from some minerals use substances and materials of both animal and plant origin. A Forge World won't be enough.
>>27952861
And I remember nearly breaking it with that interpretation.
>>
>>27952861
>Surely you remember.

I was the first to use the name Farnsworth, it lead to some fun, but if I remember correctly someone wanted to introduce insane Techpriests, and the idea was quickly stomped out, and rightly so.
>>
>>27952832
>>27952878
Forgeworlds don't necessarily need a "crafty" name, we've got Ryza, Gryphonne IV, Hedd, Shenlong, and Urdesh.
>>
>>27952897
Yeah, that one was my interpretation, and in the 7th I presented a dumbed out version of this. Normal yet somewhat eccentric in the 7th.
>>
>>27952923
Both the Forgeworlds on that map are named: Idunn, which is a Scandinavian word for forge and Fetillus Svel which is old norse (latin'd up) for Gleaming Sword - the Navy.
>>
>>27952974
Yeah, but they were talking about changing Idunn to something that sounds more "crafty."
>>
>>27952897
>>27952938
Methinks that techmarines are eccentric by default, so I presume that you mean 'more eccentric than usual'.

At risk of straying from the nautical theme, I propose that some techmarines show traits from various 'mad scientists'. One techmarine might reminds us of Farnsworth, while another brings Nikola Tesla to mind...
>>
>>27952993
ooh, disregard cocks etc.

>>
>>27953009
Right, we'll have one particularly ancient Techpriest who will say 'Good news everyone' once.

Just the once mind you.

And we will see how it goes. If everyone laughs we will keep it, and add no more senile Techpriests. Farnsworth will be the exception.

If it doesn't go down well, we will purge it from the records and never mention the name again.

Hey guys so pitching some stuff to add/bring up again to add to the sector.

> The Cabal of rogue traders.
Since we're in a relatively recluse sector we have our dick ass rogue traders running guns and staging shit. Like mentioned in previous thread they could be instigating conflicts, selling weapons to pirates and heretic cults, or giving valuable information on trade routes and defenses on Imperial planets to xenos like the Grendel and freebootas. Hell, they could even be selling to the Star Krakens to keep up appearances of "Loyalty". Like they could have a massive network from planetary governors, pirates, and spys and shit. But they cover their tracks. Pirates who are caught and subdued by the Krakens look like they are operating autonomously, governors participating in heretic cults somehow get the resources to arm themselves, Grendel conveniently a raid small agworld while the Krakens are fighting another Grendel diversion a whiles away. Hell maybe the rogue traders come in right before the attack and sell of some weapons to the agworld and tell them they'll get the Krakens or the guard. But by the time they manage to comm them it's conveniently too late.

> The Slaaneshi sirens
Now chaos isn't my bailywick here, but someone suggested in the previous threads about Slaaneshi sirens. This would be a cool addition. Like in the Deep a mysterious planetoid or asteroid (whatever) just appears within scanning distance and then the voxes come alive with beautiful singing that entices the crew to check out the new planetoid. Only to meet a grisly fate by the hands of Daemonnetes. We coud the planetiod/asteroid turn up in different locations too, so the Marines and navy can never verify the existence of this chaos. The only evidence they have left is ships with no crew and haul still intact.
>>
There's an unclassified planet north of Huginn's Light in the Njord Strait. Is that to be intentionally unclassified, or can I write some fluff about it?
>>
Feral World
Name: Dreshara

Named after the colony vessel that brought the first settlers, dissension in colonial leadership quickly caused the settlements to engage in civil war. Widespread fighting quickly eroded the planet's technological base and its people are now divided into small city-states, villages, and nomad bands. Barbarism runs rampant and the remnants of technology have fallen into superstition and ignorance - even more so than usual for the Imperium and that's saying something. Formerly a Star Krakens recruitment world, a widespread shift in cultural beliefs that run counter to acceptable deviations from the Imperial Creed have caused the Star Krakens to relinquish their patronage. The planet is now under an Ecclesiarchy reformation campaign spearheaded by the Adeptus Sororitas.

Name: Akkari
Type: Frontier World
Location: Northwest of Marias

Akkari was so named for the collection of derelict ships surrounding its atmosphere in almost neutral orbit. Explorator Fleets sent by the Mechanicum have begun investigating this phenomena and taken to researching the technology left by the derelicts, as well as breaking down much-needed components to replace the oft-embattled Star Kraken's fleet. Human colonists have begun terraforming the surface, which is mostly comprised of wetlands and some outcroppings of mountainous regions in curious triangular pattern in different regions of the planet. The mountains are all comprised of the same materials at cursory glance (some precious metals, etc) and ensconce the same amount of area within their beings. As of right now, colonists have yet to enter and explore the areas, however they have begun marking for mining purposes the major deposits of materials within the mountains.

>monsters

The Star Krakens have recieved several reports of disappearances in the sector recently. Investigation reveals little, a few chunks and the body of the ship missing.

The truth behind these disappearances is as old as the stars, for Chaos has a presence in the Phorcys sector. There is an asteroid that has been corrupted by the malign influences of Chaos that floats about the sector and lures the unwary to their death. It is the servants of Slaanesh, both mortal and immortal, that dwell in this floating chunk of rock, dubbed the floating Isle of Dread by those few who have seen it and lived.

Its presence is first made apparent to the navigator, who is made to see a creature of perfect form floating alone in the eye of his mind, beckoning him with a song that sounds like desire fulfilled. The warp-sensitive navigators have a hard time not falling into it, but if they move their vessel closer then the crew will begin to hear it as well. Many will fall to its beguiling song, and even if the crew does not slaughter each other in desire to meet the Grey Nymph and her many Sirens, they are lured to shipwreck into the asteroid. The ship will be swiftly overrun with daemons of Slaanesh, the Sirens among them, chanting songs of depravity and submission.

The Grey Nymph herself will chant continuously, luring most of the crew to her. The fate of those souls shipwrecked on the meteor is horrible and the survivors being the few that manage to jump into the warp before collision or use the escape pods to flee.

The Nymph is clever, sending captured vessels with her servants to shipwreck into the various worlds of the sector. Unless found and destroyed, they will form floating islands of sining Sirens that will lure the unwary to the most wonderful death imaginable.

Name: Bivarar-Havn
Type: Hive World
Location: Northeast of Huginn's Light, on the Sector Fringe

Bivarar-Havn is one of the more densely populated Hive Worlds of the Star Kraken's sector, mostly because of it's location on the fringe of the sector (which allows for trade/port for other ships and Rogue Traders skirting the area) and the abundance of available work for the middle class. The various Star Kraken Borther-Captains often take their vessels here for rearmament and repair, due to the availability of their materials, rarity and uniqueness of their stores, and their worker's skills in engineering and labor. It's rumored that a hull welded by an Artisan Shipwright is nigh impenetrable, and several Star Kraken veterans would not be so quick to disregard this rumor. In exchange for labor and goods, the Star Krakens will sometime lead patrols into the lower habs of the Hives at the Governor's request, to help settle unrest and bring some order to the normally lawless lower class. Bivarar-Havn is also a prime locale for recruitment, as their knowledge of ship maintenance and engineering is deep and second only to the Adepts of the Mechanicum, however the Star Krakens find the humans of Bivarar-Havn far more tolerable. Occasionally, Wright-Guild leaders, who normally engage in barter with Rogue Traders, will happen across items of great interest to the Brother-Captains of the Star Krakens, and will offer them up as first-come, first-serve, ensuring that Bivarar-Havn is one of the most protected Hive Worlds in the sector.

I've been monitoring these threads lately and feeling a bit sad for not being able to participate due to exams, but let me tell you this:

I've been around for several rather cool Chapters, even did some drawstuff for the Black Locks, but this one takes the price. Stay the very best, /tg/, and keep the Emperor's work up. I'll be watching.
>>
>>27954826
Eh, the chapter is okay. A little heavy on the squid stuff though, and rather light on the patrolling a large and innavigable area with no help.

Loved contributing to this thread. I have some stuff for 6th Company written up, but have to jet. If the thread is alive later, I'll post it and see what you all think.

cheers.
>>
Okay, I've been trying to do some writefaggotry about my idea, but I can't seem to start a story off right without turning into a list of factoids the speaker shouldn't know about. Instead I'll list the idea and what I've come up with:
>Siren Stars
>siren stars are enigmatic stellar objects that have been located in various sections of The Deep and compose a dangerous threat to navigation and travel.
first off, these objects emit low levels of radiation that can somehow pierce the darkness of the Deep over short distances, radiating a very welcome light (that is in fact a thing to be feared). They also exert a strong gravitational pull for their apparent size, leading Mechanicus and Techmarine researchers to believe that the objects are incredibly dense. Unfortunately, like the Deep itself, Siren Stars are basically immune to scanning. The radiation emitted by Siren Stars has also been shown to scramble and distort navigational systems, leading navigators to believe that their ships are much farther away from the star than is really the case.
In addition to the realspace graviational pull, siren stars have a strange sort of density in the Warp. They can lure Navigators over vast distances - even from far outside the nebula in which they are found - with a psychic phenomena that has only ever been described as 'alluring', never truly noticeable, but still with a draw that can become close in strength to the Astronomicon itself. (think of it like something you can only ever see out of the corner of your eye, something that you like, feel good about and want to see more of; you can tell its general direction/location and really really want to get as close as you can. That's how it feels for a Navigator that detects a Siren Star). Any ship that travels near enough to the Siren Star's footprint in the Immaterium is subject to an intense pull that quickly draws it back into reality - dangerously close to the object itself.
Continued below
>>
>>27956853
Perhaps worst of all, Siren Stars have never been found in the same location twice. They seem to move, though no ship that has tried monitoring one has ever actually detection movement or propulsion of any kind (though that could be the sensors being fucked up); when a ship comes back to a location where a Siren Star was detected/narrowly ran away from, the star has not ever been detected in the same location. It might be several million kilometers off but still detectable, or just nowhere to be found.
To sum it up:
Highly dense objects that emit weak light unwary travelers find welcome in, radiation that scrambles detection systems, gravity that pulls ships closer, and a warp signature that can draw in ships from very far away and drop them back into realspace. People, especially Navigators, actually WANT to go near them; basically a Will check to realize they are being drawn in No-one has ever seen what the immaterial imprint of a Siren Star looks like; it's probably horrifying. Any ship that gets too close in realspace gets subject to black hole-like pressures and destroyed/eaten. Siren Stars move. Nobody knows what they are made up of, or has any hard data on their physical composition.

(I know that we've already got Slaaneshi Sirens, but I like this idea too; more of an unknown and unknowable navigational hazard. Also I looted this idea from Farscape, it felt totally right for the setting.)
captcha: holds satryne. potential in that, I think.
>>
>>27956853
>>27956899
It's pretty much a non-Chaos version of the Slaaneshi Sirens and doesn't stand out. My thoughts is keep the scrambling and distortion of navigational systems, but change how they work. Instead of being alluring, the Navigators can lose track of which is the siren and which is the Astronomican which can force ships massively off-course or leave them stuck in the Warp until the siren moves. The siren itself kind of "bubbles up" into view of both the Navigator and in realspace and likewise dissipates. All the gravity stuff in realspace is golden.
>>
>>27957129
Cool, thanks. I like your idea of the Navigators confusing Sirens for the Astronomicon, but by 'bubbling up' and 'dissipating', do you mean that they sort of slowly appear/disappear from the Navigator's consciousness and view?
Could probably go with ships 1) getting stuck for a long time in the warp, 2) getting drawn into the Deep, and/or 3) getting singularity'd by the Siren. I like the idea of these things messing with warp navigation in sectors surrounding the nebula, being problems for everybody that weren't explainable until the Krakens really started exploring the Deep.
Do you have any particular sort of story regarding these that you'd like to see? Keep in mind that this'll be my first time actually writing a story.

Since this is the latest map, it appears to me that maybe they marked out with dates and locations sightings of the Albatross?

Trying to understand whatever it is that moves it through the Deeps?

Just a blip and a date and a line moving to the next.

(The problem being that the Albatross moves at it moves...)
>>
>>27957338
Yes, that's what I meant by it. Multiple things could happen to the ships, they could get stuck in the Warp not knowing where to go, follow the wrong beacon and wind up disastrously off course, put adrift as their systems fail, drawn into the Deep, getting bad ended by the siren.

As for a story, go for record of the events surrounding a run in with a siren and how it led to the doom of the ship.

You should also give them a new name for clarity.
>>
>>27957374
The Star Krakens don't really do transport. They mostly deploy planetside through drop pods and use jump packs and gunships to get around. They have Rhinos, but their tactics don't really make much use of them. I'd also assume they're a bit lacking in the tank department.

Because then a lot of thigns don't have a place in the Chapter. Better to keep the Krakens a chapter of shut ins content with patrolling the Deep, save for the Varangians.

6th Company
Brother-Captain: “Joker” Jaqque Aemonne
Ship: Devil of the Deep
The 6th Company of Star Krakens have built a reputation for unorthodox tactics and brutal, but effective, warfare, both physically and psychologically. Stories are abound about the cruelty and reaving tendencies of the 6th Company, a favorite of which involves the wholesale slaughter of a roving band of pirates that had been harassing the western fringe of the sector. By the time Imperial Navy fleets had caught up to them, and boarded their ship, they were greeted with a charnel house of viscera, with only one surviving member of the pirate band. Lying in the fetal position, he muttered utterly incomprehensible gibberish until he eventually perished. Above him, written in the blood of his shipmates, was the phrase “Beware the reach of the Kraken.”
Casualties tend to run high in 6th Company, notably for their unorthodox tactics and their belief that victory above all else is the Emperor’s Will. Thusly, the veterans of the 6th Company tend to band together, and are known as ‘Salts’, while newer members are put through rigorous training and indoctrination, and are known as “Freshers”.
Their Captain, “Joker” Jaqque Aemonne, earned his moniker through the half-smile he always wore, and his dark, sometimes morbid, sense of humor. An oft-spoken story among the veterans of 6th Company involves the Devil having a run-in with several Eldar craft while on a routine patrol of their system. The Eldar surrounded the vessel and gave Jaqque Aemonne, the newly appointed Captain, a chance to surrender his vessel or face utter annihilation. In response, Captain Jaqque laughed a slow, haunting laugh that echoed throughout the Eldar vessels before he commenced his attack. While Captain Jaqque refused to comment on the matter, the fact that the story is told to new Eldar fleet captains as a cautionary tale lends a sense of merit to the rumor.
>>
>>27959318
Captain Jaqque is an excellent warrior and tactician, feeling that leading from the front is the most efficient way to lead, period. His methods are harsh, however, and he disciplines his troops with an iron fist, sometimes executing troopers he has found ‘wanting’. He has been challenged several times for command of the Devil, but has managed through skill and cunning to best his opponents so far. He draws constant criticism from his peers and the rank-and-file for his unwavering approach to mission completion above troop welfare, and very rarely does Captain Jaqque socialize with his bretheren aboard the ship.
>>
>>27959333
>>27959318
I'd get rid of "Joker" and just keep him a marine who likes black humor, with a penchant for savagery.
>>
>>27959333
>executing troops

You better not be talking about marines. They're rare enough without their captains killing them like commissars.
>>
Hail, battle-brothers.

Here's the small blurb I've fluffed out for the 2nd Company.

-------------------------------------------------------

The 2nd Company are known officially as The Kraken's Maw; however, they have also unofficially been called the Spears of the Void, due to the fact that 2nd Company Sergeants and other officers of leadership use long power spears in battle. Of the eleven Star Kraken companies, they are perhaps the most enigmatic, shunning the company of fellow Krakens unless absolutely necessary. They patrol the Deep on the mighty ship Balmung, lead by their Captain, Olaus the Mangled, a deeply superstitious and cynical man. He received this name due to extensive injuries he received at the ill-fated Revolt of Zjoldus during his time in the Deathwatch. Half of his face, his left arm, his right forearm, most of his chest, and both of his legs have been destroyed and replaced with cybernetic prosthetics.
>>
>>27959318
>Aemonne
>Anemone

Fuck you, shitgoblin. Come up with a real surname or die in a fucking fire.
>>
>>27961248
>Krakens Maw
NOPE. That's a Wolf-Company. Next you'll give us Krakenlords riding thunderkrakens, wielding krakenaxes. Spears of the Void sounds good though, but get rid of the power spears to make it less literal. Not everything has a basis in physicality . Maybe even give them the largest share of the Chapter Fleet too, and make them the chapters best void-fighters to make them stand out from the chapter if that's what you really want

We don't have a chapter master yet. At least not a current one. If we really want the viking theme, then why not go with Canute (or Cnut) the Great
>>
>>27961279
There's no need for that kind of hostility here.

>>27961413
Considering no other company has actual Kraken-based naming, I think it's fine. As for your suggestions, they basically sound like an entirely different company.

On another note, I think our next move should be to flesh out the relationship of the Ten Flags; in particular, how each Captain views each other, and which captains back which vote for Commodore. Since Mǫkǫyll and Nyram are tied (according to our canon), we should probably decide who sides with who.

Here's our current Ten Flags:

1st Company: Mǫkǫyll the Destroyer
2nd Company: Olaus the Mangled
3rd Company: Currently unnamed
4th Company: The Trident (Kester, Olavi and Young Nyran)
5th Company: Librarian-Captain Alus
6th Company: Jaqque Aemonne
7th Company: Thorolfr Finn
8th Company: Tyr
9th Company: Thorkell the Tall
10th Company: Edvard
>>
>>27961413
They don't have a chapter master in the classic sense. They're effectively run by the company commanders, with an elected "first among equals" to serve as an executive.
>>
>>27961513
I'd honestly prefer just the Ten-Flag Council instead of a regular Chapter Master.

Each company captain is a chapter master to himself.

Now I know the Krakens have fallen to faggotry. And then you people make shittons of writefaggotry that no one will ever read. Perhaps this was a mistake, to allow the viking theme to become a part of the chapter. Something about it ingenders the same faggotry the Space Wolves suffer, with over the top heroes and "I'm so independent of not just the imperium but the whole chapter!" along with the over usage of themes. Refernces are pretty good though, like Thorkell the Tall, Balmung, Achab and The Mariner. Characters like Mokoyl Mcaccentmarks and Sieswurd the NineNamesfag are not good in the slightest

This is how we're currently playing it out. In the current canon, the Ten Flags are voting on a Commodore, but it's a tie between Mǫkǫyll and Nyran, so until the Ancient Mariner casts his vote there's no commodore.

Cool your jets. Although I agree people are taking the special a little bit too far on some of the companies, there's time yet to smooth this shit out down the road. When the Roster went up on the wiki and the call for names/descriptions was issued the idea was to give each Captain a name, and each company a sentence describing something about them.

People have gotten... A little enthusiastic, but that doesn't mean, in the end, their effort can't still be boiled down to a single sentence (albeit extremely well researched).

Also just to weigh in on the special characters debate, I think this:
>Thorolfr Finn commands the Seventh Company, alongside the Chapter's most venerable Chaplain, Sworgar Maldagius. Described even by their brethren as a vicious crew, the marines of the Seventh employ four assault units instead of two, and are rarely seen in port.
Is the perfect level of description for a company. Got the name of important characters, got a bit of flavour, doesn't go overboard with how amazingly different they are to every other company. It's a neat little package.

Also I think an update on the ecosys/ grendel and eldar parts of the 1d4 chan would be neat. Are we going anywhere with the eldar bit I feel like it shows some promise.

Also is it possible to show like trade routes on the map? It be neat to see where Grendel raiders and pirates would hit unsuspecting cargo ships and such between worlds.

>Einherjar
Alright, so tossing something out there.

The chapter has a minor geneseed mutation to the Sus-an Membrane, which causes them to dream while they hibernate, almost always reliving their last battle again and again. Thus, any Star Kraken that stays in this state for long will go rather mad, making the others reluctant to wake them once they've been out for more than a day or so: said marines awaken caring for nothing but battle, and will usually seek out violence until they die. The chapter thus treats such marines as dead, and lays them to rest in a particular part of the Lighthouse called the Hall of the Slain, where they dream and battle eternally. These men are the Einherjar, and are greatly honored among the fallen of the Krakens.

Known to few however, is the Gjallarhorn Protocol, an order which may be given by the Chapter Master only in the time of dire need. Upon giving this order, the Einherjar are to be awakened and sent to their final battle.
>>
I think we're drastically losing sight of what originally endeared the Star Kraken to the people. They were an understrength chapter recovering from a massive blow, reduced to patrolling an unchartable phenomena in an otherwise wild sector of the Imperium with minimal resources.

They're losing that underdog identity, and it's due to the overfluffing of the company Captain's. Being understrength doesn't mean shit if every marine is a specialist who is best at X, even amongst his already excellent brethren. Especially when they seem to be picking up more advanced equipment over shotgun bolters and breaching shields. (hell, when was the last time anyone even mentioned the shields)
>>
>>27964171
>implying that's not a great idea.
>>
>>27964415
The lack of stupid mutations is also a breath of fresh air. Or rather, WAS.
>>
>>27964386
Should probably establish how many Einherjar there are in stasis, then. It sounds to me like the Gjallarhorn Protocol is supposed to be something really badass and awesome, but if there's just a dozen marines in there it wouldn't exactly turn the tide of an apocalypse. Also, Marines can't last forever in their hibernation, so either the geneseed mutation responsible for the dreams and subsequent bloodlust also makes the hibernation potentially last much longer, of the Lighthouse itself has a facility which can be used to prolong their stasis, or a bit of both.
>>
>>27964415
I second this. I'm not saying people's back stories for captains are not needed, but lets get to the rest of the sector. We got cool boys here, understaffed and rugged Marines making do with what they got. The only blessing they got is the handfull of old ships and Huginn and Muninn. Barely enough to deal with Grendels, and pirates, and Slaanesi sirens.

If you guys wanna keep writing about the captains, can I make a suggestion?

Put them in the Deep and have them fight shit.

Have Mokoyll get ambushed by a Grendel hit and run ship while resupplying at a agri world.

Have Tyr blast through a fucking pirate ship behind a fucking viking phalanx of shields made from ripped hulls with krakens painted on them and find the pirates are stashing Grendel weaponry with xeno tech and are headed towards a known Rogue Trader den.

Fucking have a nameless rank and file Kraken Marine lost in the void separated from his ship mid space combat to hear singing being broadcasted into his helmet.

We got cool ass dudes guys, but they're kinda just sitting around talking about how cool they are, instead of being in the Thick of the Deep fighting for their lives and being fucking awesome.
>>
>>27964386
Maybe instead of a mutation (as >>27964527
notes, the chapter is better off as a low-mutation chapter.) Maybe the hibernation dreams and the madness they cause are due to some kind of psychic feedback from the Hugnn/Munin device. Then Valhal (the stasis device at the Lighthouse) would provide the bulk of their extended hibernation period.

Also, probably limit it to <100 marines frozen this way, enough to briefly put the Krakens over the top in terms of manpower when Gjall is blown, at least until the Einherjar wear themselves down by refusing to eat, drink, or sleep.
>>
>>27964636
I want to read every single one of those stories. Seriously, get on it writefags.

Also a thought: perhaps in his haste Achab didn't totally wipe Grendel civilization off their worlds. Yes, every living being is dead, and the world has been scorched, but perhaps examples of their biotech survives... In hardened facilities, underground bunkers, alien fortresses and the like. The Cabal know they're there, and routinely attempt to extract this tech from the dead worlds. And of course the Kraken try to stop them.
>>
>>27964891
The chapter is understrength at 800 as it stands. You'd need ~200 Einherjar in Valhal to get it back to full strength. I'd say keep it at ~200.

Achab's madness could be an example of the Einherjar effect.
>>
>>27965174
So that would make the krakens TECHNICALLY a full strength chapter, but 200 of them are Einherjar, in permanent stasis within the Valhal.

How long can an Astartes go without food or water? I know they can go an ass-long time without sleep. I'm trying to figure out how long the Einherjar could boost the Krakens' numbers before they start to collapse. Does their armor recycle water? Might just be food as a limiting factor then: I think a human can go 3 weeks without food, but then Astartes would need far more calories than a human would. So, once the Gjallrhorn Protocol is activated the chapter would gain +200 marines for a week, maybe two.
>>
>>27965227
>So that would make the krakens TECHNICALLY a full strength chapter, but 200 of them are Einherjar, in permanent stasis within the Valhal.
But the Krakens consider the Einherjar as casualties. Most of the Krakens don't even know about the Gjallrhorn Protocol

>Not only is it ANOTHER speshul characteristic, but it's something we've seen before in canon chapters
Well then I suppose it's not that speshul, now is it?

I like it if only for the reason that it introduces a harmful side effect to the Deep: it fucks their hibernation up. (I agree the geneseed mutation is a shit way to go with it). As it is it seems like these guys aren't really effected by their environment in any way, which is dumb.

And it's important to remember this isn't a strength, it's a weakness: when most Astartes go into hibernation they can be healed up and snapped back to life, but in the Deep it's a death sentence.

Who's the chapter master? What does he look like? Maybe use the head of pic related to make him stand out?

Also the kraken icon from the dark elves make a great thing to put on top of the chapter banner.
>>
I vote for "Svartalfheim" being a random portal where Dark Eldar often come out to raid and pillage our shit.
>>
>>27965538
Neither is Welsh, but Qwqqwerdsyu sure looks like nonsense when it's mixed with English words.

>>27965608
Okay, it's maybe it's not uniquely special, but it is stupid. Also "not effected by their environment"? Have you even read any of the fluff about the Deep?
>>
>>27965780
>Qwqqwerdsyu
But... that IS nonsense. That's not a welsh word.
>>
Did we ever decide if the Grendel were making Pacts with unknown dark powers that may or may not be chaotic in nature?
>>
>>27956853
That works with the whole "There is some scary shit in the deep that people still don't know about."

I rather like the deep to be something like a Bermuda Triangle of space.
Well one that's not part of the Warp.
>>
>>27965820
>100% semantics, 0% counter

>>27965822
No, they're just plain old aliens who managed to fuck the astartes. Really it's the Administratum's fault the Grendel kicked so much ass.
>>
>>27965608

Anon is right, bezerker-marines has been done enough before, and it's a Mary-Sueish reason to have some super marines who can wreck face.

What if the hibernation were still to drive them mad, but in a properly mad, adrift at sea kind of a way. Marines wake up still in a dream state. They ramble and mutter, are distracted or just catatonic. They can't distinguish reality from dream, and as a result they're useless in battle. Unable to fight, or to serve the chapter in some other way, they could be put back into stasis to dream their endless dream.
>>
>>27965876
It's just semantics to point out that the example you used was fabricated?

Norse terms look fine mixed with English. Especially in the kinds of settings we play around in.
>>
>>27965892
Anon is wrong. Berserker-marines have been done in a few ways, and one more fits just fine, especially to a chapter with solid links to norse and lovecraftian mythos.

There is nothing Mary-Sueish about this. What are you doing?

Despite all this your last point is a very reasonable one. The state should be far more varied. Some turn berserk, some become distant rambling lunatics, some even speak of strange things they saw in their dreams that demanded their servitude... These ones are of course destroyed before tales of their taint could spread.
>>
>>27965904
Yes, yes it is. Picking on an umimportant part of the argument (ie: an example word) without addressing the crux of the argument is the definition of arguing semantics. You might as well have picked on the grammar.

Some short Norse words look okay after they've been English'd slightly. Those long ones used so densely just look like clusterfucks.
>>27965869
I think the Icacian Eye or whatever was described as a siren at some point.
>>
I am back, and very suprised this thread is still going.

Looks like we've attracted a lot of nay-sayers though. Here's what I think:

Get rid of that Einherjar business.
Write about anything you want, planets/locations/people.
We'll take a look at all the namedfags later on and get rid of anything that doesn't fit in, or seems too Mary-Sueish.

Other than that, should we just get back to fluffing the sector?
>>
>>27965876
Too bad liked to think that the Grendels were actually more of a threat other than yet another group of raiders.
>>
>>27965956
They were a massive threat, they still are I think.

Have you read any of the Grendel stuff on the 1d4chan page, or about Captain Achab? If not, do it now.
>>
>>27965932
>>27965954
Agreed the whole berserker thing's been done to death by everything else.

Oh have to think up something, that Deep would have to be filled with Space Hulks.
>>
>>27965932
>Thread 2: these Marines have only the slightest variance to codex standard, brought about by the practicalities of being separated in the Deep
>Thread 5: my Captain has laser eyes and a super hammer. Well mine is an expert pillage with a 14 inch pecker!
>Thread 8: and the reason they're REALLY understrength is because half their marines are in a special sleep state, and when they wake up they go beserker and get used as special hondeldorfen shock troops, and it's all a big dark secret!

*sigh*
>>
>>27965956
>>27965978
Actually in thread 7 the Grendels were fleshed out a lot. I liked the idea of their worlds being razed and them retreating into the Deep. Some anons proposed darker powers, some that they still have worlds in the deep. I like to think we dont really know and that's why the Krakens are having such a fuck hard time getting all of them.

As a tie in with the Rogue Trader cabal, the administratum fuck up could have been on purpose possibly. The Rogue Traders could be paying off low level admins and have people on the payroll to supply the marines in the sector bad info on just how bad the Deep is. It was said in 7 that they trade with the Grendel and sell them weapon mods and info. The RTs use them to supply the demand in the sector. With our boys being the only defenders plus a few cobbled togther PDFs and such they can easily mislead them from the bigger picture.
>>
>>27965956
Why does something have to be ruinous to be a threat? The Tau are a threat, and they're squeaky clean. As it is the Grendel were a massive threat to the sector, so much so that an entire Space Marine chapter was founded to fight them.
>>
>>27966033
Seriously, it's getting a little stupid now.

>>27966059
I was there I'd like to think that the Grendel have something going on that allows them to move through the deep freely.
>>
>>27966059
This sector is starting to sound like it was rather lawless before the Kraken set up shop. A token Navy base on the fringe and nothing else? Maybe that's why the Cabal had it so good, and now they're trying to covertly drive them out so they can be the law again.
>>
>>27966199
*Taps nose*
I like where you are going anon.
>>
>>27966185
Originally they didn't move through it freely, they skimmed it, just enough to throw off the cautious Naval forces without getting lost. Plunging into the Sea of Nix was a desperate move to escape.

Original Space Marine tiers
Edgy Tier: This chapter was designed simply to make their story nothing but suffering.
Lamenters Tier: An original chapter designed to be the underdogs even compared to the grimdarkness of 40k.
Grimdark Tier: A space marine group of equal status to a canon one.
? Tier:
Awesome Tier: A chapter that is unique enough to stand out from the other chapters in uniqueness without becoming too powerful
Funny Tier: A humorous but most likely useless chapter done just for fun.
? Tier:
Noble Bright Tier: A Chapter that fights the good fight in a universe without good.
40k Friendship is Magic Tier: Noble Bright taken to the extreme.
ANGRY Tier: FUUUUUUUUU

Guys

I've looked at the map and realised: Achab's Passage, Huginn's Light and The Calm Belt create a navigable channel between the Sector capital and the majority of the sector.

What if commercial vessels are using the shipping lane now, and totally bypassing all of the Cabal's money making facilities on the old, longer route?

Gives the Kraken a trading route to police, pirates to fight, brings the sector to them etc...
>>
>>27966358
It create a safe channel that is probably attacked by pirates, freebootas, and Grendel all the time. The Cabal just keep poking holes and things and keep getting malicious forces into what was previously secure areas and patrolled channels. But the Krakens won't buldge and this probably has the cabal dialing up more and more trouble there. It makes a perfect shit storm.
>>
Just seen the 1d4chan page, are we really going with the Einherjar?
>>
>>27966745
I really hope not.
>>
>>27966757
Someone is really trying to give the Marines a defect in their gene-seed. Last time it was a calcification thing, but that was ruled out.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I'd rather have just a Chapter with no defects, their only troubles come from the strife caused by having no central leader.
>>
>>27966784
Oh man that's hilarious, anon is getting all butthurt and egotistical about his precious idea being shot down, so much so he's forcing them onto the wiki... Which is something no namefag in any Kraken thread has ever done. Bucking the trend, much?
>>
>>27966866
Well I don't know, I'm not going to point and name names, mostly because I don't know if it's the same anon.

Should we just stick to fluffing the sector out for now, and then have a proper discussion about the defects later on?
>>
>>27966886
We have discussed mutations/defects. Several times. In multiple threads. Every time it was eventually agreed upon that they didn't need anything beyond standard Raven Guard.

Next thread though (which will be soon) should be dedicated to sector discussion, and it should say as much in the OP. That'd be a step in the right direction, instead of rehashing things that have already been decided.
>>
>>27967000
Agreed.

We've hit the bump limit, so I've archived the thread. Once this hits page 10 I'll create another thread, unless someone beats me to it, and we will continue to fluff out the Phorcys Sector.
>>
>>27966886
>>27966784
>>27967116
Like I said before, I'm not a huge fan of the defect idea. Let's stick to fluffling out the sector for now.

Also, not really a fan of people posting WIP material on the wiki.

See you tomorrow.
>>
>>27967116
The latest map says "Phorcius Sector?"
>>
>>27967130
So I forget what we've called it, big whoop, wanna fight about it?
>>
>>27967156
N-no...
:'(
>>
>>27967201
Good. Anyway, you know what we're like, we just change a word into a different language, swap a few letters around and boom, we have our planet name.

New thread
>>27967410
>>
>>27959801
Alright. I threw that in to try and add some flavor, but its understandably honkey.

>>27959840
No, serfs and the like. Although I cna make it so that he punishes his 'wanting' Marines in some sort of horrible fashion

>>27961279
Did I ruffle your jim-bobs with that one?

I like criticism, so if anyone wants to see something changed (like >>27959801) and is reasonable about it, I can edit it.
>>
>>27962958
>>27963901

That was actually my inspiration behind it. But, I can see how it would be misinterpreted as Jack Sparrow. I can change it to something else if people don't like it.
>>
>>27964636

This is what rough drafts are for. Now that I know that people want this type of story/background, Me and the rest of the writefags can get on it. Thank you for being honest and giving us some direction.

I'm namefagging myself so that people know who's writing 6th Company's fluff, and can direct their insults/criticism/praise at the proper person.

Are my posts. Just for reference.

i've got some family stuff to attend to, but If the thread is still up when I get back, I'll fix some of the things that people requested.
