I actually do have a few traps set up around the city but that's mostly in the alleyways. They're also a bit dangerous since I can't delay True Magic and normal magic has a chance of back lashing on me. I can only lose so much more of my arm and face before I start crying.

Incidentally, for the longest time my going theory was that touching an orb instantly destroys your mind. Blue and the other orb bearers have no free will of their own, which explains why the can't remember their own names and need an orb to function normally. The orbs are making all the decisions, so once you remove them their minds are left helpless. Over longer periods of time, however, the orb bearer will be "programed" with the orb's desires and intents, meaning that they will be able to have a degree of function without it on their physical person.

I choose not to bring it up because the idea that Blue was in reality just a lobotomized puppet we had filled with our will was a little bit too disturbing.

Because you didn't want to. Your theory is pretty close to what the orbs already do. Each of them is a fraction of the original god and each had their own desires. Pink was simply unfortunate enough to get a shard that was filled with gibbering madness. However, you guys were able to see what was wrong and had Blue not wear you. Because their old crutch had suddenly been removed from them. They were far along enough that they NEEDED direction or they would be completely unsure of what to do. That's why the holder would always grab the orb when they got stressed out. Once the orb was ripped away from them, along with a good chunk of their memory, they just latched onto whoever seemed to be in charge. In this case, Blue.
Black didn't have the orb nearly as long as Pink did though so her effects were lessened.
