"Well then, you three are this years newest recruits to have passed surgery. Smaller yield than usual sure, though it only means that I'll focus more on whipping the three of you into shape. From here, we'll pick up your water proofed core gear, and return to Cerulean quarter for water-based training and basic attack and coordination regiment.. err routine. Well, you'll see." In the acquisition's office near the training grounds, the three of you suit up with your sizes. The Core gear that the sergeant had spoken of appears to be a base system harnessed to your body, and worn underneath your clothes, yet over your small-clothes. A Volt Orb fits in right at the chest area, powering the whole thing.

Misty explains that the core system is designed in mind to adapt to most gear that Rangers may carry, from the Index, to Short Com, to swimming turbines, auxiliary electrics for electric types, and so on and so forth. She demonstrates via target, a harpoon grappling attachment situated at the waist.
"This is called 3 Point Auxiliary Gear." It's used for rapid movement around large trees, cliff faces, and even has some underwater use. It has a secondary propulsion system that reacts to your movement and intent. It's useful on most exploratory missions, however it tends to drain the Volt orb's power something fierce. Which, I wish we reminded the sergeant at orientation, means that you have to let it recharge, or find a way to recharge it. You never want to put them together either. I hope you paid attention to the demo. The power they generate is too much for the Core System. It can overload it, and cause an explosion. We've lost some good rangers that way."
She ends a bit mournfully, however she perks right up, "Well then, you'll just be taking the Core Gear, and your indexes today. you'll be practicing with 3P Aux gear during joint exercises."
