You are a friend. Not the most glamorous role, but hey, at least you have a role now. Fading away is no longer your greatest problem.

Getting choked unconscious though... Really, it's not fair. You're not a dude! Damn inconsistent rules. Still- you'll have to deal with this. God, this night is never going to end, is it?

That is, if it's still night. Despite how hard you squeeze your eyes- something bright is on the other end of these eyelids.

You open your eyes to see a sky like a grey wall, framed by white and crooked trunks and branches of dead trees, the sun managing to peek through the gaps just perfectly to make sleeping impossible. You were just choked to unconsciousness, the least life could do is let you sleep. You groan and stretch, immediately regretting it. You're sleeping on wet grass, in a pile of leaves?

Oh. Dream interlude. Figures. You guess you got that dream combat thing- this sort of thing had to happen eventually.

Though why you're in a misty meadow ringed by trees sleeping in a pile of leaves is anybody's guess. You hop to your feet, and look around. Nothing yet. Going to be your dickbag antagonist ExODIOUS (heheh, you'll have to try that on him next time you see him)? Or Lilith who you awoke? Or somebody else?

Not even the chirping of insects to keep you company.

God, it'd be way better if your dreamed up visionscape had a bar. That served margaritas.

So, another for the jar. I stayed up too late- and for that I'm sorry. I wanted to end, wrapping up in to the next plot hook. Regrettably, a lot of people that went to bed (rightfully) felt that their voices were lost.

So- new policy.

SAFE MODE: After a point when the majority of people following this fall asleep, I'm going to put on safe mode. I don't like overriding people's votes, especially if it comes to something that might spoil matters, but apparently this is what I should do. So, past a certain hour if we haven't reached what I think of as a good stopping point, I'll announce SAFE MODE, and shoot down any recommendations that might endanger the protagonist. Just let me know when you guys want to go to bed (Preferably in 4chan time), and I'll plan around this.

Next- what to do about last thread.

I don't want to go back on what happened, because I feel that'd make things too wishy washy. Which really isn't fair, but redos and retcons don't sit well with me. So, instead, let's have some choices.

1st - Revert Lilith to her dumber personality of Riritu. Come to dragged halfway out of the house by a confused girl. Have that can of worms sealed, which you can later open going through all the junk of foreshadowing and point spending.

2nd - Have some dream combat with Lilith as she tries to invade your mind. Have to fight well against Lilith, but have a chance of succeeding against her to more properly interrogate her.

3rd - Come to in the lab and be unhappy, but then have either lab escaping or character switching shenanigans. Up to you.

4th - Come up with something on your own. Always, always, ALWAYS an option. Please remember it.

At any rate, after that, I'm going to hustle things along.
>>
>>27783710
1st. Riritu is significantly less dangerous.
>>
>>27783710
You can stay up as late as you want.

It's just that when you say something like

>Speaking of which, sensing a great deal of players going to sleep, so I'll try to wrap this up soon.

People think that means you're ending with the next post and not going to keep running for another hour, including some fairly major decisions.

I know I took a break after seeing you post that, because I thought we were out of the woods.

Also I kind of feel like 1, because that reveal seems best done dramatically with other people to see it.
>>
>>27783710

\Well, we can actually use being stuck in the lab. It puts us in a perfect position to bring Deadoko back into the plot if people want to do that, it gives us a great excuse for a power up, we can get Leo to divulge our location to anon and Konoko via evil gloating for a rescue and if that doesn't work we can have him "accidentally" let us escape.
>>
>>27783710
3rd.

I want to follow the plan.
>>
>>27783781
True, we can do stuff like that.

It might also allow us to learn more about the plot/what we should be doing, as well as further assuage Konoko's fears that we're a threat to her, considering we just damsel'd ourselves.
>>
>>27783710
Dream fight.
Since the dreamscape is made up of equal parts of our mind we have footing in power over the dreamscape, then it's just a matter of willpower, and seeing how hard we fought to get here, and that Riritu got brainmelded and we didn't puts us ahead in that regard.
>>
>>27783710
>1
I rather we take more time to build up a supply of points so that we can maintain a sentient level. Speeding up plot will be a huge hindrance on our way to 4.0 points

>>27783787

While I voted against kissing Riritu (because FUCKING SUCCUBUS) I also believe in sticking with it. Demanding do-overs just seems childish and bothers me more than making the stupid decision in the first place.

Just a coin in the jar and let's soldier on. Also, what will those coins do, exactly?
>>
>>27784009
Explain further.

You're talking about lowering the World Alignment more, which is the opposite of what we want.
>>
Argh, another tie?

I'll give it ten more minutes, if nobody minds, but then I really do gotta get this thread moving.

And, uh, does nobody want to give me any kind of guideline on when they want me to declare safe mode? Cause I'm thinking 0300 4chan time. Is that alright at all?

>>27784035
As in...the natural...progression of the plot? The logical consequences of what just happened in the last thread? The lab has a lot of potential for opening up new threads and possibly getting Deadoko her spot in the cast, so as a reader I think that's the most interesting. It just happens to also have the most potential for making things dark.

To be honest, haven't thought about it. Alright, I'm stupid enough to spitball some ideas.

1 FUP gives you insight to a character's background.

2 FUP can be spent for an emergency dose of 0.1 Narrative points.

3 FUP Allows you to shift the world alignment up or down a level as you desire.

4 FUP can make any action an auto success.

5 FUP can be used to fix or damage narrative health by a single level.

10 FUP gives you a pony.

100 FUP makes me wonder why anyone would still be following this. I guess I would make it in to an awful visual novel.

I'll have to add this to the mechanics textbin.

ANYWAY:

Lilith/Riritu Swap: 111
DreamFightan: 111
Captured: 111
4, which apparently can apply for 1 or 3: 1

god damn it vote swapper. I am retarded, I don't know why counting is so hard.

Boil it down between Lilith swap and Capture. Last call for votes, respond to this post with either Lilith or Capture, and then we can go on.
>>

one of the kissing idiots from that night, I feel bad for pissing off other people, but I rather stick to what's happen. We screw up, we screw up.

Vote 3.
>>
FOUR - NONE OF THE ABOVE

Wake up in lab cell, Lilith about to brag to us. Instead, give her a hannibal lecture about the nature of the universe.

"Tell me, Lilith, how old do you think I am? Older than Konoko? Older than this town? Older than the skies, the stars the sun? Older than...you? What if I told you that the answer was yes? This would imply that I am either exceedingly old, or the world is exceedingly young. Have you ever heard of the Last Thursday theory?"

When she scoffs, tell her to go to a certain diner. Her curiosity now piqued, she can't resist unwittingly meeting Deadoko...
>>

Groping around blindly for a solution to our reasonably urgent problem, I suspect. Seemed like Antagonist was a likely role, so at the time it seemed like a clever idea. And it bit us in the ass.
>>
>>27784592
I think it was that /tg/ was dicking around when Twen wanted an action, so he just picked whatever seemed like it had the most support.

It seemed like only one or two people were for it, with a bunch more going "I didn't want it, but I was outvoted"
>>
>>27784618
I think we were planning on making her a minion or something back when she rescued us from the basement, and her lack of intelligence annoyed us. Someone mentioned that she seemed smarter back when we first met her before we forcefully flanderized her, so we decided we'd make her smart again.

We just, y'know, never looked back and realized how dumb it was. Or that we don't really need her anymore since we have Hobo Batman as a pseudominion now.
>>
>>27784654
The urgent problem was resolved by the time we decided to make out with her.
>>
>>27784442
So what are we doing, voting more or is adorable little Twen writing?
>>
>>27784618
The original plan was getting her to be less "retarded pretty girl" and more "flirty but competent". And it got out of hand because of too much foreshadowing or something. Was one of the desperate bids for an ally to take konoko down in the "burn it to the ground" mindset after the betrayal

No idea, we could hint at our possible origins of being satan/lucifer/her boss like some anons planned, which probably would backfire, we could bind her to us some way, there were occult books in Anon's room and she's a succubutt
>>
>>27784442

>>
>>27784724
>>27784705
We could always explain that we don't really give a shit about whether Anon's good or evil - just that he's not annoying and whiny - and that, if her goal is to cause suffering she's certainly been accomplishing it whenever she's been around us.

Because she's obnoxious, you see.

>Twen's Fuck Up Jar up to 6!

It's peaceful here. Still, serene. Just these leafless, pale trees (Birch trees?), swaying in the slight breeze. No leaves on these branches, just strange wooden instruments hanging off of rough and worn twine, some shaped like containers, others like little statues of hanged men, and one a black sphere, bound in a net. Not a noise, aside from your breathing.

You hate it. You sit around, tapping your foot. Nothing's happening. Boring. Serenity can go fuck itself.

Then you hear it. Distant, like an echoing cave. You look up, glancing around.

"...Noo...Friend..."
"...Possible...Too...Failure!"

Sounded like Lilith/Riritu were having an argument. The usual drama about a split personality you guess. Ah well, you can't help it. You were hoping to save that for later, but now's good too. No damseling, that's what's most importantly.

Hm. Thinks were warming up in here. Oh, oh, she can't be-

You wake up with a tongue jammed down your throat. Not your own, this time but one belonging to a rather blonde annoyance. Her eyes are open, staring at you full of worry and blue. No red, that's fine, but more importantly-
"Grar able mrrr!" Is what you manage to express before shoving Riritu off. You sit up, coughing- mm, cinnamon -wiping at your lips, god your tits and ribs hurt. Felt almost like you broke a rib.

"Were you trying to do CPR?" You turn, shouting at Riritu, who is kneeling in the grass, looking downcast and depressed.
"I-I-I'm so sorry, Miko-chan, I never meant to-"
"God, you know they got rid of the mouth to mouth, don't you?" You search around, find your hat with a smug looking kitten atop it, purring away. After moving kitten to the side, and placing it on your head, "So, you came back to normal then?"

"Y-yes," Riritu wipes away more of her tears, "I, I'm not a bad person Miko-chan, I just-"
"Save it," You glance up. You're in a well mowed yard in front of a massive skyscraper. Tenkiki Industries, "You were bringing me here?"
"Yes!" Riritu stands up, fist clenched, then frowns, "Though...I'm not sure why."
"Skyscraper. Means this is where the lab is," You glance around. No guards. Weird- but plenty of video cameras. Thankfully, none trained in your direction- actually, there's a good ten foot wall around the compound, aside from the wrought iron gate at the entrance, "Er, Riritu, did you fly me in here or something?"
"Yep!" Riritu perks up at that, and you see some stupid little bat wings come out of either side of her head, "Riritu may not like, Lilith, but at least she got me these cute little wings!"

You glare at her.

"I don't think it works like that."
"What? Miko-chan, you're so-"
"Try and fly. Go ahead," You cross your arms, "I'm waiting."

Riritu pouts, then screws up her face and focuses. Her little bat wings do an admirable job flipping out on her head, but... She maybe gets an inch off of the ground before collapsing down, gasping for air.

"Uwwwwaaaaaaaaa...It's not fair..."
"Don't worry," You take stock of the situation. Outside of being sore (And somewhat slobbered on) things are alright. And now you know where the lab is.

Now- you gotta decide. Things are in color, as much color as night time allows. So, you're clearly operating within plot. But...

You're not sure you just want to go in to the lion's den unprepared. Especially with only an idiot on your side, and no plot armor.

>>
>>27784959
No it fucking doesn't.

We don't want to be the protagonist, a supporting character is fine.

We're already a possibly angelic engineered weapon/clone, why the fuck are you so greedy?
>>
>>27784927
Get the fuck outta there. I rather come in to this part of the plot more point heavy so we can make sure we get what we want done with less fear of losing sentience
>>
we have to do SOMETHING while we're here or the narrative will hate it.

At least carve a magic rune or do a ritual or spy on a villain or something.

>>

>>
>>27784994

>>
>>27784927
Bravely run away.

Seriously, we need to get the fuck out of there.

And - this is important - without getting lost.
>>
>>27784927

Any chance we can institute a flashback for being so close and pick a new power? Maybe something for recon purposes?
>>
>>27785042
Hm, a flashback does seem appropriate at this time.

But I don't think the narrative is healthy enough to tell us what to do.
>>
>>27785042
This would be a prime opportunity, but would call for a dice roll.

At any rate, people want to recon ki ping first. It'll be safe to do one without rolling, so let me write that up real quick before you guys decide something.
>>
>>27784927
Maybe scout around for a minute or less, but I'm definitely for LEAVING.
>>
>>27785042
Actually, this idea is nice. Have the Ki Scanning trigger that and we can fill in some our background or progress the plot in someway.
>>
>>27784927

Asking for more powers might be a bit too greedy, but could we use proximity to the labs as justification for getting some flashbacks going? Preferably ones where we don't remember that we were Satan.
>>

>>
"Okay, just," You close your eyes, breath in, "Let me take a look around a bit, Riritu. Stay close to me."

Obligingly, she scurries over to you and clings on to your leg. You frown, but try not to let it distract you too much. Though your eyes shut, you can see, sense the strands that tie everything together, the sacred life force of ki. There you are- there's Riritu's ki, oh neat, she's being all conflicted now. Hm, might have to decide one or way or another on her front soon. There's Cringer- huh, he's getting loads of potential from somewhere. Good, you like the little fuzz face.

Then around you- everything is barren. Lifeless. Hm. Bad guy hide out fo sho. And yet the building pulses with the cosmic energy, you focus, try to get a bit closer-

Whoa. That was like touching a live wire. The moment you had gotten close enough to sense beyond the door of the building, it was like stepping straight from the shore in to a white water rapid. Loads, loads of power there- god damn tons. Blinding amount, even as you retreat, you can't shake the feeling of a residual high.

They have something very important in there. Seemed to be channeling DOWN though- something's collecting up, and going down?

Ugh, you hate this kind of wishy washy nonsense. Sucking spirit mojo from the sky and dumping it in to the basement apparently.

Then you feel a chill. No, it's not Riritu crying in to your ankle. There's another presence out there- something very familiar.

An antagonist that'd be more competent than Exodium maybe? Well, Cringer's freaked on your shoulder, puffing up. Tough little kitty. You glance at Riritu's face- yeah, she's got some claw marks welling up. Heh.

Ignoring that though, you'll have to try to climb the wall if you want to escape the camera's notice.

>To have a power gain flashback, give me 5 1d100 rolls, difficulty 71 and above, two successes necessary. More successes grant more choices. This would however require you to hang around for a bit.

Well, this might be a fine opportunity for plot. You squeeze your eyes shut, twiddle your fingers and focus...

"...We have recovered it! The key- the key between our world and...
"To think...It was so simple...No faith..."
"Hey- don't go dying now, you hear?"

Hm. Nope. just generic mysterious foreshadowing bullshit. God, what a pain in the-
"Miko-chan!" Riritu shouts out, tackling you to the side. You hear a crack, and then a noise like splitting silk fly by your ear. There is a smoking bullet hole in the grass where you had been standing just a moment ago.

Great. Snipers. Well, you should have expected this- you glance around. The presence is up, at the top of the building- make that sniper. Singular. You look up- god, it had to be at least thirty some stories high-.

"Thank you, Riritu. Cringer, get in my hat. Riritu, stand up and let go of my boob. We're leaving."

"Y-yes ma'am!" You throw up your shield, hearing just in time a distant crack of a bullet. You push back a bit as it buzzes, but holds. True to narrative, guns suck.

Two options then-

Go over the wall to make sure you're not recorded on camera. Will take longer, but probably avoid more problems and manhunts down the road.
>5 1d100 rolls, 61 and above, two successes necessary. One success low means one of you is hit.

Or.

Go straight through the gates. Quickest way out, but definitely get spotted by cameras.
>5 1d100 rolls, 44 and above, two successes necessary. One success low means one of you is hit.

Or...Well, maybe not the smartest but, make that three options.

Option three, and the quickest, bullrush inside the building to get out of sniper range. Don't know what you'd do in there but...

Nope, nope, nope. You've already got one asshole on your tail, you're not going to get more.

"Riritu! The wall!"
"Eh? Bu-" Another bullet flies in to your shield sending sparks and pieces of lead flying, "Kyaaa!"
"Less moe, more climb!"
"H-h-hai!" Well, while she stuttered at least she went for the wall. Her ascent stops when there's a burst of powder by her face causing her to flinch. Sniper knew what you were doing- well, hardly mattered. You shift back, covering her to the best of your abilities, straining to lift it up to keep her safe. She climbs admirably, more bullets pounding in to the shield- your arms will be hurting severely in the morning.
"I'm up!" Riritu shouts from the top of the wall, before ducking a bullet.
"Congrats, drag me up, I can't hold this shield much longer!"
"Okay!"

She grabs you by the back of the shirt, cutting off any further criticism you might have had for her, and dragging you over the wall. Another bullet- that one shatters your shield. It flies right past your ankle as you're pulled up and over, landing in a disgraceful pile on top of Riritu. Well, at least she makes for a soft landing. After disentangling yourselves, the pair of you sprint off, away from the building. Whoever the sniper may have been, they thankfully don't shoot at you when you're out of range.

A while later, the pair of you stagger back home, groaning. There's an unfamiliar light when you get back, sweaty, grass covered, and mildly bruised. The horizon, it looks awfully red....

Dawn. It's dawn.

"D-d-dawn?" Riritu mumbles beside you, "Bu-but I'm a mess! I can't go to school like this! There's cheerleading practice! I- I haven't slept at all!"
"It's what you get for trying to choke me out, heh," You slump in to the gate around the house, causing it to creak open, "I can already see the bags under your eyes..." Leaving Riritu sobbing, you walk inside to see Konoko and Anon at the breakfast table.

They look rather curious at your state.

Why would no one believe us when they already know that Riritu is a succubus, and so our action is physically possible and plausible?
And we don't decide how others react, that's what got our tongue cut and us choked with our own blood.
>>
>>27786017
Bingo.

Think about that for a second...
>>
Hey did we ever check to be sure there wasn't another version of us tied up in the basement?
>>
"Ssssooooo," You look at the pair of them. Konoko looks baffled, eyebrow raised. Anon's eyes have narrowed- though it's hard to tell if he's doing a serious expression with half a flapjack hanging out of his mouth. Awww, he shaved the beard. Konoko probably made him. Nofunoko, "Gee, cheerleading sure is rough! Haha!" You see Riritu stumbling in to range, and you grab and pull her up to the door, "Riritu and me just need to be on top of our game, and heck, we'd just waste that time sleeping otherwise-"
"-my...My beauty sleep..." Riritu whimpers like a shell shocked veteran.

"-So Riritu came up with the great idea of us practicing and hey, are those pancakes there?"

"Yes," Konoko's voice is strangely neutral as she looks back down on her plate stacked with pancakes, "It seems this is the only thing that he knows how to make."
"I wanted to apologize to Konoko-cha-" Konoko shoots a glare at Anon, "Eh, er, I mean Hasegawa-san... But, you enjoy them, yes?"

Konoko with a look that the Medusa would envy towards anon picks up a pancake. You note that it doesn't bend as she holds it straight up.

"Ehehehe," Anon scratches the back of his head, "I, well, this is maybe the first time I've done this. Really, I'm more specializing in combat, mecha engineering, necromancy, and in a pinch, toaster repair, I never thought I'd have to learn cooking-"
"I prepared every meal for you, 'Anon-kun,'" Konoko growls, "I- I," She deflates, gets away from the table, "I'm sorry. I'm going to go get ready for school now," She looks at you as she walks by, "I'm sorry Miko-chan, please by patient in using the shower, I'll try to be quick."

"N-noooooo," Riritu stumbles after her raising her arms helplessly, "My...My hair..."
"My pancakes are fine," Anon grumbles, devouring a fistful, "God, what a stuck up-" Anything else he's saying is hard to make out around the crunching.

Well. Shower's occupied for a time. Any last minute prep before school?

>Your move.

Must be a cheery Miko: "It's okay Anon. Everything gets easier with practice." Try a bite and try to give him a thumbs up on his comically bad pancakes. World alignment and narrative health, ho!
>>
>>27786172
Out of curiosity, does Konoko still have that little cut under her right eye? We could repair it, earning friend points, and ask after it in a concerned fashion.
>>
>>27786172
Quick question, is there any reason we're locked in to the high school trope?

Since we're currently Friend Zoned (heh heh), wouldn't we get more Friend points if we turned into the cool older chick who dates college boys and buys Konoko wine coolers and condoms?
>>
>>27786172
Get our clothes ready; they're probably in a sorry mess. Maybe try to comfort Riritu; the Riritu personality is far more pliant, and unwilling to harm us, than Lilith.
>>
>>27786237

Doesn't fit with our base archetype, meaning the narrative will likely pitch a fit about it. We are supposed to be clumsy, cheery, and demure on camera with a touch of hidden badass.
>>
>>27786237
Only if we get that PLOT upgrade Twen promised for Decu's art.
>>
>>27786172
We might need one of the knives and ways to conceal it, or take the time to draw some kind of amulets/seals just in case.

Either that or go cook some omelletes/fried eggs for Lilith and yourself and cheer anon on his attempt to be nice.

>>27786237
Narrative health
>>
Guys, I know we're not big fans of Konoko, but if we cook meals for her to supplant Anon's failure, we could get some major friend points here.
>>
>>27786237
We're locked into the high school trope because we're trying to stick to the plot of Mahou Sports anime in order to maintain Narrative Health.

Also, we're sticking with our current characterization because it's safe, we're so close to becoming fully independent. Just .3 more points to go.
Then we need to bank some more points so that we can survive the end of the Narrative with our memories intact.
>>
>>27786252
>>27786254
>>27786259

We've got them fuck up points. A whole lotta fuck up points.
>>
>>27786274
that's a good idea. Or order some food that's nicer than what we have.
>>
>>27786254
He promised that for next time we got a power up. But, maybe we can get it early?
>>
I have a question, and it's actually serious, can we brute force riritu to sentience?

Before that's immudeatly shitcanned as a TUUUUUUUUUUURABLE idea, I don't mean just jam it in her (pun mostly unintended), I mean moar along the lines of like, raising her as a child, a guaranteed ally from story to story.
>>
>>27786274
>>27786172

I like this idea. We need to earn more friendship points. We can have Lilly help us. After all, a fine lady needs to start the day with a healthy breakfast. Also, complement Anon on his attempt. Multi-bonding, go.
>>
>>27786274
Sounds good.

Let's show her the true power of breakfast.
>>
>>27786274
Or we can teach anon to cook. Maybe she likes having him as her bitch, plus being moe always helps.
>>
>>27786254
...I guess you do have a point. I was thinking of throwing it in to a generic power upgrade, but...

CUSTOMIZATION POWER UP (It doesn't really matter much at all!):

1) PLOT. Cup size upgrade!

2) 47 Fahrenheit Cool. Get a bitching black and white suit with red tie and black leather gloves.

3) Quantum Hat! Your hat can be anything silly now!

Anyway, checking basement, checking Konoko's cut status, cooking a nice breakfast for Konoko, and then getting prepped for class. Writing.
>>
>>27786312
I think that might be a bit too large a task to complete before she gets out of the shower.
>>
>>27786252
Nah I'm pretty sure it's already way too late for that.

I think our new character is the kind who is really cynical and grumpy, but just pretends to be peppy and cheerful.

>>27786364
I don't think so, since we're not waifuing anymore.

If Anon was still the protagonist, I'd be first to agree.

>>
I'm amazed at how much hostility there is over a simple cosmetic choice.
>>
>>27786458
Useful for a shift in tone or change in character. The silly character in the beginning have a tendency to become more badass in the future.

And just because we're planning a light hearted series don't mean we can't become a proactive character.

Also, this bonus is cosmetic anyways, so it does't matter.
>>
>>27786509
I think it's to make us a cool "Anego" type character.
>>
>>27786322

2 breaks serious convention so hard that I don't even know what to say. That said, my vote is likely for 1, as I see at as the least disruptive between the other two. Still, I think the better option would be to give Cringer something.
>>
>>27786515
I'm worried that we'll get this dumb power business suit and people will try to use that as another excuse to do something stupid like usurp leadership or make the series darker. Look, it's even been called out as Agent 47 shit.
>>
>>27786526
But...that's totally not what we are. At all.
>>

Class changing hurts our position and gives us nothing. The more the narrative heals, the more we'll be in our role regardless of business suits.

What fucked us over with Konoko was completely destroying her trust in us by just being an openly scheming bitch. We've been over this.

No shit, because we were an openly scheming bitch. I would not feel safe with us in the room.
>>
>>27786607
Which was a reasonable, if short-sighted and incorrect assumption.
>>
>>27786618
The point of Naya is not to be cool. It's to be a character which further completes the story and is relevant enough to survive. Grabbing for cool when we have a role that looks steady is stupid.
>>

Because that in no way follows what's already been established and your opinion is not fact?

I still maintain that when the narrative health recovers, we've gone too far to just go back to acting sweet all the time like nothing happened.

The suit won that vote easy, and I fear for our future because of it.
>>
>>27786589

Priority One is flowing wiht the story in such a way we have enough points to survive it's end. Looking cool comes second and highjacking the story could very easily be counter-productive. We simply do not have the resources to struggle with other sentients and it's not in our interest to do so. Option 2 is cool, but will come bakc to haunt us later unless we play it right.
>>
>>27786667
Well, of fucking course not. The narrative already knows we can be a ruthless, manipulative bitch and there's no reason to deny that. There's also no reason to completely change our role in the story to a college aged older sister stereotype when "best friend who truly cares for the protag and is also kind of a sociopath" is already working for us.

Konoko sure didn't like the pancakes. Anon's sulking, chewing on his food. Oh, what the hell. The chandelier thing was fun.

"Hey, hey, Anon-kun, let me try."
"Eh? Wa-wait, Miko, don't-" Anon reaches out to stop you, but before you can you peel a flapjack from his stack and bite in to it. Crunchy. You frown. The maple syrup had drowned it but...Hm. Kind of granola-y. You swallow it down, wincing at the pain of the rough material, but nonetheless manage a smile and a thumbs up, "Mmm! Good start, Anon!"

Anon looks at you strangely, then mopes, "Oh...Thanks, Miko-chan."

He says nothing else as he stands up and sulks off. Hm. Blech, whatever. You let the remnants of pancake clatter on the plate, and then snare Riritu in mid escape.

"Riritu, I need your help."

Despite her feeble protests and cries for mercy, your cold, culinary heart drags her in to the kitchen.

"Right, Konoko shouldn't go to school empty stomached," You tie an apron on to Riritu- pausing to frown. How- the apron comes up to the neck, how was she sporting cleavage? You bite down your irritation, "So, I was thinking of some simple stuff, all I need you to do is cut up the vegetables, chop it real fine, okay Riritu?"

"They're my friends...I know they're my friends...Shouldn't hurt friends..." She's murmuring, eyes glimmering as she reaches for the knife. You draw it out of the way.

"Onnnn second though, just, uh, just stir this pot, eh?" You push her gently in front of a stove, setting some noodles to cook, "I'll be back in a bit, okay Riritu?"

She makes a noise that might have been agreement, so you hurry off to the basement.

It's dark down here- too dark for a chipper narrative. The light switch doesn't even work. You grab a flashlight, then another checking to make sure they both work. No chances. Honestly, what was Konoko thinking making this place- scratch that, you don't want to get in to Konoko's head. You sigh, as you look around.
>>
You don't see any red hair in your beam as you sweep the room- but then you spot in front of the pipe a photo album.

'Incognito Memories.'

Hm. That's a plot thread if you ever saw one- one that you can't pursue right this minute. You scan the room a few more times. No, no clones of you. Not here at least.

You march back up stairs to see the pot running over, a sleeping Riritu mechanically stirring it. Well, no scalding. Just a general mess, not enough to get in the way of the breakfast.

Konoko comes out of the shower, dressed in her school uniform, cinching her tie in place, a towel still draped over her shoulders. You're sitting at the table happily. You give her a quick glance- hm, cut is still there. She pauses at the meal set before her.

"Wha-"
"I wouldn't want Konoko-chan to go to school hungry," You start pouring some green tea, "We have fifteen minutes left- go ahead, eat up, I have to shower."

She turns red as a beet, hunching her shoulders.

>Friend points gained! 0.15! New total, 0.87!

"Mi-Miko-chan..." She whispers, looking down, holding on to the edges of her towel, "I..."

"Hey, hey, eat up!" You stand up, walking for the bathroom past her, going for a reassuring clap on the shoulder on the way past, "It's okay, you're the star of the soccer team is-"

She brings towel up, over her face and heads for the door, "As if I'd accept such filth from you!"

You turn in time to see the door slam. Sheesh. Oh well, got the points! just a bit further, and then you can be autonomous of her-

>Character arc update- 68%!

Hm, and that happened.

"Please... Let me sleep," Riritu moans from the kitchen, still stirring the pot.

>Going to school! Just updating since I'm taking a while.
>And counting customization votes...I didn't think it'd get this heated. Sorry guys, somebody mentioned a suit way back in the quest, and I couldn't think of other options.

It's third period. It's hard to keep your eyes open, despite everything. Damn plot decided to make you tired. It's hardly fair, all the shit that was going on last night- hell, you were choked out for an hour. That should count for sleep too. Riritu isn't helping either. She's out and out on her desk snoring. Naturally, the teacher, whose only trait as far as you can tell is busty is too undetailed to give a shit. You want to give off the image of a good student, but on the other hand, why bother staying awake? Gah. You lean back, yawning.

"Miko," You hear whispered by you. You jump, and look down. Leopold is down there, hiding under Riritu's in his suit, looking miserable. It suddenly strikes you that he's an adult. Konoko is, what, sixteen? Well, you guess it's legal but the disparity in power alone-
"Miko!" He says a little bit more urgently causing you to blink and focus on him.

"Yeah, hnwhat? I'm sorry-" You wave your hand, "Late night last night-"
"Yes, I'm aware of that-" Leopold looks seriously at you, "Anti-Order CRUCIFIX nearly caught on that you'd tried to break in to their lab."
"Woop de doo- wait, that guy, Knight Exodious, hehe, get it? Odious?"
"Yes, haha," Leopold has a shit sense of humor, that was gold damn it, "Look, Miko, right now CRUCIFIX thinks that Exodium has you handled- thankfully, they don't have definitive proof that you're acting against them, so it'll still only be Exodium and I pursuing you."
"Yeah, about that...Are you being in character right now? With the warning?"

Leopold sighs, "Yes. Regrettably thanks to your friend, I'm part of the cast. I'm not just background anymore. After this I have to awkwardly meet Konoko in the hall and get my ass kicked in a wacky misunderstanding. Honestly- well, look, after school today, there's going to be another attack from Exodium."
"How scary."

"Oh hush. I'm supposed to be conflicted about her- there's going to be a ghost soccer team. Tell me, how hard do you want me to push Konoko?" His glasses flash, "I could see to it that she's...Removed. If you like."
"Narrative health."
"If you become the protagonist, you could siphon all you need and get out," Leopold smiles, "Then we could be together again."

Oh right, he was creepy. Thanks for reminding me, Leo dearest. That would hurt the narrative something fierce. You're not THAT prepared. Such a pain in the ass.

Then you sense it. That strong ki presence from last night. The sniper. You try to follow it, get a grip on where it is- floor under you, coming up the stairs. Coming closer.

Leopold, judging from his apathetic look, seems unaware. He never did care for in narrative powers. You have no idea what the story was, but that struck you. He hated being in the foreground, which is strange...Leave it. The presence is more important. Might be a friend of his, you figure.

In a +1 you doubt you'll be attacked. Especially at school. But still....

If we're writing responses to Leopold:

"Keep the pressure on Leopold, make her rely on her friends (AKA me), but don't off her off. Killing her will be too short term, and the cycle will reset. I'm thinking of a more permanent solution, but in the meanwhile keep the alignment up and the narrative health not dead.

B) Continuation of the character after the story is over? This guy loved us a previous character in an another story? There has to be a way to manipulate this to our benefit, but we need more time before the end of the story.

"Hey, Leopold," You glance at the clock. Lunch is about to begin, "You said that Anti-Order CRUCIFIX doesn't suspect that we're getting to be trouble, right?"
"Right..."
"Then why do I sense somebody from last night coming my way?"
"Huh?"
"Do you have any snipers in your organization, Leopold?"

Leopold thinks, shakes his head, "I, I'm sorry. The area's so glossed over, I can't remember much of anything. Guns though- I don't think we use guns. At least, nobody important, maybe some security guards, but nobody who's important would use a gun."

Right. The sniper has reached your floor. Konoko's classroom is across from yours. The bell rings.

"Leopold, get out in the hallway, look for anyone detailed. I gotta go give Konoko a head's up."
"Wha- why are you satisfied with her?" Leopold stands after you, and a few kids reel back in surprise at the clear adult in the classroom, "Even Exodium has been noting that she's treating you roughly- though he's doing it in an approving way- why-"
"Because I'm not an idiot. If I become protagonist, I'd have to deal with the likes of you, Exodium, and everyone else all at once. No thank you. For now- we're keeping things cheerful, and let the narrative heal. I don't want it to dissolve around me yet."
"But, you do want it to dissolve, right?"

You don't answer him as you slide open the door, and skim the crowd. Konoko, Konoko- ah, there she is, getting talked to by a teacher by the door to her class. Oh ho, school trouble, hm? Well, she'll look on this as a relief. You get closer.

"...Realize you're good at sports, but honestly, you have to realize that you're no longer in middle school! These grades will follow you through the rest of your life. Not to mention your behavior in class..."
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." Konoko mumbles, staring down. She looks up at the sight of you, and brightens, "He-hey, M-Naya-chan! Please excuse me," She says with an arrested bow to the teacher before dashing to you, eager for an escape.
>>
Safe mode is for losers, bend over and take your consequences like men!
>>
"Naya-chan, are you doing well at school, I, heh, I'm not-"
"I sense a presence," You state aloofly and mysteriously. Konoko's nervous smile drops, "An...Enemy."

"Enemy?" She loses all emotion in her face, "Good. Show me-"

"You idiot!" You hear screamed down the hall. You both jump and look over, to see a girl in pink hair and what seems to be a candy gram's uniform all in blue striped red, complete with pill box hat shaking her fist at Leopold, flat on the ground. You note, with some irritation, she's fucking stacked, "How could you not see me? Are you legitimately blind? Why are you wearing transparent glasses, blind man?"

"Egh, why...Why does this keep happening," He mumbles in to the tiles, trying to get to his feet. He receives a vicious kick to the ribs from the girl. Oooh, spats on her shoes, classy. But definitely an antagonist. She glances up, as if reading your mind, and looks- you hide before she notices you, but she locks in on Konoko. She pulls the only loose pink shock of hair visible from under the pillbox out her eye to give a cocky smile. Under her right arm is a BIG duffel bag. Super heavy looking. Skinny arms though on that gal.

"Heya," She hooks her thumbs in to her belt loops and approaches with a swagger. Konoko stands her ground, clenching her fists. The students and teachers in the hallway slide to the side, keeping well out of her way. You join the crowd. You want to be able to assess things before acting.

"So, you're the big soccer hero around here, huh?" The girl's speaking with a bit of an accent- vaguely slavic? Swaggers like a cowboy though.
"I'm not- I don't really-" Konoko stumbles at her words. Looks uncertain, glancing around before looking back up with eyes narrowed, "Whatever. What the heck do you want?"

The girl smiles, just a few steps away from Konoko, "I just wanted to see, what I'm up against. So far, doesn't seem like much," She snickers, turning away. What, that's it? Konoko rolls her eyes. You feel her frustration.

Okay, so, smart thing here to do would be NOT to fall for the obvious bait Konokooothere you go. She swings hard- and then she's on her back in the hallway. That was FAST. You blink- the girl, pink haired girl grabbed Konoko's arm and flung her over her shoulder- but it had to have happened in less than a second. Candygram is over her, dusting her slacks off, as Konoko's on her back, coughing. Wait, why was she punching? She specializes in kicks!

Konoko coughs, as the candygram gal stands over her, smiling insanely.

"Like my handshake? My name is Alex," She winks at Konoko, trying to roll to her feet, "Hey, hey, stay down- I'd like to take this slow. I'll show you my library later, don't worry hero," She casts her gaze over the frightened crowd, "But for now, I'm going. See you on the field next week."

Huh. New villain.

Pretty dense too, not to notice you. Her eyes just glide right over you.

Konoko twitches on the floor. Well, Alex is making to leave. Why would she do that-

It has. It managed to make it to 50%. The problem is partially that you're drifting around 0 world alignment. That, and the halved narrative gain.

The arc you finished netted you 2% narrative health, and the Konoko's expenditure netted a further 1%.

It's a story arc based around a character. I believe once it's over, we cannot change our character anymore.

Don't some characters have multiple arcs?

And does that mean the story is over/or can we still do things just while remaining more or less consistent?
>>

The character usually becomes static. If it is part of the main cast (like we are), it remains relevant, but doesn't undergo any changes. If it is just a one or two bit character, it typically disappears.

No but you have to take turns, and it has to have a good reason to develop it further.

Do we have a better option right now?

Staging another takeover isn't likely to go well at this point, especially since Konoko is crazy paranoid about us.
>>
>>27789362
Konoko makes bad snap choices. She plans things poorly. Look at the outfit she was wearing when she went full protagonist. She is rookie at the sentience game and is terrified of us, especially after the Deadoko reveal. We were this figure whose plans she got caught up on, but paranoia and fear won out. When we propped her on our shoulders toward greatness, she made a bad decision, and we will get her back for it...but for whatever reason, we seem to be clinging to the hope that we have a salvageable friendship with her, because we fucking HATE Leopold. And we need another sentient lest we feel alone...but now sniper girl has shown up, do we seduce and ally with the introduced sentient, or does Archiboldi-San hafta smack a bitch?
>>
>>27789419
>but for whatever reason, we seem to be clinging to the hope that we have a salvageable friendship with her, because we fucking HATE Leopold
Yeah, I don't understand the Leopold hate either.

Our options at this point seem to be Konoko, Kill Konoko, and Deadoko.

Deadoko is probably the flat out worst of them. She's insane, unstable, and more focused on wreaking narrative havoc than even Leopold.
Killing Konoko seems to have been decided to wreck narrative health too much to be safe with such a low point buffer. (and I agree)
That leaves us with getting what points we can off Konoko. Not ideal, but she seems to be rather ashamed that she tried to lock us in a basement and leave us there to die and we still showed up to save her, which we can use.

>but now sniper girl has shown up, do we seduce and ally with the introduced sentient, or does Archiboldi-San hafta smack a bitch?
Allying with her is an uncertain source of points, and there's no guarantee that she'll be any more trusting or trustworthy than Konoko.

Rather not go an idea like that. Too dark for the happy setting we want.

New sentient seems to be happy to go full antagonist all on her own, so no reason to do anything but observe for now.
