You and your entourage decide to follow Mira. You've definitely caught her eye, what with challenging an Ultramarine to arm wrestling (and surviving with your limb mostly intact), but most importantly, because you're here for the same person.

She leads you out of the city, into the camp east from your initial location. Within the largest tent, she begins explaining how she knew Captain Titus, how she and her regiment owe their lives to him, and how she was promoted to the rank of Major after the campaign in Graia.

"The 203rd was in shambles, but still combat-capable" she says. "High Command decided to promote me and have me handle the Regiment's functions while they attached a Colonel to it."

So it seems these Guardsmen were friends of Captain Titus, at least. Might be the best people to ask about his current whereabouts.

Before you can pop the question, though, Rahman approaches you and asks for a word in private.

"Joachim. The Guardsmen I overheard regarding Captain Titus' situation? They were a detachment from the 203rd."

Grim realization sets on your eyes. "So they too were..."

"...Set to the torch by the Exterminatus. Yes."

There comes a point where you stop believing in coincidences, and that point has been reached. There are way too many links here to ignore.

「203rd」. 「Battlers」. 「Captain Titus」. 「Accusations of Heresy」. 「Exterminatus」.

There was a mystery in the making. That much you knew. Whatever it was, it was something incredibly sinister.

And now you know that unveiling whatever it is....is what the Emperor wants of you.

You return to the tent with Rahman.

Reposting our Stand's Stats.

[LOW RIDER]

Destructive Power: B - Obviously superhuman, I wouldn't be suprised if we could throw small vehiclese, probably not strong enough to chuck roadrollers or minarets at people, though.

Speed: A - Near lightspeed to FTL

Range: E (2m)

Durability: C - Rougly on par with The World, don't take too many punches from an A ranked Destructive Stand.

Precision: B - Not good enough to preform brain surgery with our Stand's bare fingers, but still superhumanly accurate. Our stand can flick stones/bullets to a range of 75-100m (Josuke almost hit a *rat* behind cover at 60m.)

Development Potential: A - Adaptable as fuck, Koichi was able to evolve his stand into alternate forms via Acts, and Gionro constantly pulled new abilities out of his ass.

Summary, not the most conventionally powerful, but adaptable and versatile as fuck.

You decide to ask Major Nero about the man you were sent here to seek, or at least whom you suspect to be your target. Still, it was a good time as any to turn that 99% certainty into a 100%.

"Captain Titus," the commissioned officer begins, "is the reason I, and in fact, all of the Cadian 203rd draws breath today. If it wasn't for him, Forge World Graia would have fallen to the Orks, or even worse, to the Forces of Chaos."

"Chaos?!" Mercuria interrupts abruptly, startled by the Major's previous assertion. "Miranda, have you fought the Forces of Chaos before?!"

"Yes, and the reason I can tell the tale is because of the good Captain's valiant efforts."

Whomever this Captain Titus was, he must be a singular individual of inmense power and skill. To lead an assault against Chaos and come out on top...that's what would earn a man hero's honors, not shame and guilt!!

You decide to ask the reason for such injustice bluntly. "Major Nero...why was Captain Titus apprehended after such woundrous deeds?"

Mira sighs, bringing her closed fist to her temple. "It was that Leandros' fault. He told the Inquisition that the Captain was corrupted by Chaos' taint. Nothing but lies and slander from a blind, close-minded apprentice who will never achieve anything like the Captain's greatness."

"Major Nero", she raises her hand to chest level, showing you her palm, in a gesture for you to stop.

"Just 'Mira' will do, Guardsman Joestar."

"If that's the case, I believeit would only be fair for you to be able to use my first name as well, or the nickname I inherited from my grandfather before me." Right, you were getting a bit sidetracked. "In any case, I wished to know what the Inquisition has done with the good Captain."

"Joachim." Her expression becomes stern, serious, and a little pained. "I cannot divulge that information lest it is to those who are within my regiment."

So she knew somwething, but she could't tell you for some reason. Damn.

She shakes her head and exhales deeply. "...There is a way, though. I could treat you as honorary members of the 203rd. From my understanding, your Regiment's main force was reinforced by a detachment of my men, correct? It would not be a problem to treat you as an extension of the 203rd Cadian Regiment, so long as you agree to keep the same secrets we have to."

Secrets? This gets more and more interesting by the minute.

"I do not know why you and your friends are separated from your Regiment, or even how you got here." The Major crosses her arms in front of herself. "But from my understanding, you're trying to help the Captain, and that is good enough for me."

Low Rider can control friction right? Couldn't we mess with friction to stick to walls and Spider-man our way up?

Point's not that; point is, if we can connect to our target with the hook, we can affect friction on it over a distance.
>>
We could go with the old fashioned route and just get her alcohol.
>>
>>27743978
Yeah, this is very potent. In Jojo, one of the key things in battle is the effective range of your Stand, powerful types tend to have very short ranges, while long range Stands tend to be very weak.

A grappling hook can give our Stand an effective range of around C-B, combine that with our ability to remove friction on our shoes, and that can allow us to kite melee Stands, and rapidly close in on ranged ones.
>>
>>27744274
Not to mention that if we remove all friction, we can use that hook to propel us to relatively high speeds.

You hand the store owner your 350 Throne Gelts. He places a tome of incredible size atop the counter, easily rivaling the thickness of twice your arm. Lugging this thing around was not going to be easy. No wonder he wanted someone else to deliver it for him...

As soon as you have the rebreathers on hand, you hand one to each of your companions. Yuu'yan eyes his with eyes that show both curiosity and disdain at the human equipment. Noticing this, Criehr decides to give him a basic explanation.

"It's like a filter, Yuu'yan. It can be used to breathe underwater, or in toxic places."

"...I know that" he responds whilst furrowing his brow. "What I don't understand is what exactly is the reason we got 'em over weapons."

"Eldar warrior," Rahman speaks, "sometimes, it is wiser to avoid direct confrontation as we strive to achieve an objective. Specially when our opponents could as well be Astartes."

[DAMN SON. You're getting all the rolls. You deserve a title. Reikim the Rollslayer, or somethin']

"Oooh, is that a challenge?" Mercuria walks in front of you, cracking her knuckles (and neck muscles) as she steps towards the group.

"Hey babe, we didn't mean that!"

"Tough luck, boys." A confident smirk finds its way to her face. "I'm about to open a can of whoop-ass on all of you!"

"Hey, we ain't going to be lettin' no girl get the best of us!" One of the lads steps up to the plate. Folding his sleeve upwards, his natural weapon is soon primed and ready.

Just as soon, he gets schooled. Hard.

"Whoah, that chick is packin' muscle in those slender arms of her!"

"Thank ya, thank ya boys. I'll be here all week. Now who's next?"

Criehr walks closer to the spectacle. "Ooooh! I'd like to try as well!"

"Wow!"

"What a total babe!"

"Marry me!"

Criehr just giggles as she takes a seat where Mercuria just was. "Don't hit on me, silly boys! You might end up getting hit back hard~"

Are your eyes deceiving you? Is the Guardsman/PDF lot...pushing each other down and using all sorts of physical punishment in order to be the one who gets to challenge Criehr?

...No, you must be seeing things. There's no way something that cartoony could happen, right?

An angular-faced Guardsman (with a purple eye, even) is the one that steps out of the crowd (or whirlwind of dueling bodies, same difference), planting his elbow firmly on the table. "I'll take you on, miss."

The duel of strength starts simple enough. Neither of the competitors seem to have the upper hand. However, you soon notice this is not the case. Where the Guardsman seems to be exerting all of his strength, Criehr seems perfectly serene.

Their arms have not moved a millimeter from the position they began in.

(cont.)
>>
>>27749251

"Mister, a contest like this is not about brute strength." Criehr lectures. Her arm starts moving, and bending her opponent's in an oppressive arc. "It's about finesse, and knowing what and how to use your muscles to win.

With those words, it was all over. Criehr had won.

"Wow, this girls are awesome!"

"Hey ladies, let us buy you some drinks!"

While Criehr curtly refuses the offer, Mercuria is a lot more enthusiastic. "Hell yeah! I sure could use some booze!"

A few minutes later, and Mercuria is chugging down her fourth bottle of Amasec.

"Pwah!" she loudly exhales, as she finishes the bottle. "Now...dis JoJo right here..." she says, pointing at you.

"Yes, that's me."

"...shuu fink dat ahm restling an Ahstahrtes was nawts? Guy rahn ovaa an Owk Wahbawss wif a Kimerah. Beat daaaaaaaaaaaaaaht!!"

The gazes of the Guardsmen turn back to you. "Damn son, you drove a Chimera into an overgrown Ork?!"

Sheepishly, you answer the inquisitorial gazes you're getting. "Y-yeah, I guess you could say I 'drove' it into him..."

Before you know it, you're getting pats on your back and several of the Guardsmen and PDF (Mercuria included) a bit on the inebriated site chant in unison "JOJO! JOJO! JOJO! JOJO!"

It's a bit flattering, to be honest.

"Fell ush moh crazee stohrees of JohJoe!!" yells one of the drunks closest to Mercuria, raising his mug filled with alcohol.

"Sha, well, JohJoh raht here...he's gettin' all cohzee wif an Eldahr weetch!"

Oh crap.

"Yeah, da witsh n' him r gettin' all lovey-doveh! Ahm shoore he's gon tich her da MAIT OF DA IMPERIUHM, if ye know what ah meen!!"

The room falls silent. Cold sweat runs on the back of your neck. You give Yuu'yan a sideway glance, which he returns just as nervously.

And then, the room explodes into laughter.

"HAHAHAHAH, NAHS JOJOKE, MAHCURIA!! YAH ALMAWST HAD ME FAH A MEENUT DAHR!!"

One of the more sober Guardsmen wistfully gazes into his mug. "Ya know, that reminds me of this friend of mine, no longer with us, lost his life in Lorn V, Emperor bless his soul. Rumor has it that during a temporary alliance with the Eldar there, he and one of those xenos got rather 'friendly'."

This story had definitely caught the attention of some of the drunks. "Rahlly? Whut ya mean?"

"Well, this guy, he didn't really want to be a full-time Guardsman. Had artistic aspirations, that one, but he still gets shipped off to fight for the Emperor like all of us. He carried a sketchbook everywhere he went, and tried to draw whatever caught his eye at the moment. Turns out a Commissar found his drawings, and several of them were of a certain xenos. A little asking around from the Commissar, and soon enough..." his fingers splay apart, mimicking an explosion. "Blam. Bolt Pistol round applied directly to the forehead. Poor man's head was blown cleanly to bits."

One of the drunks chuckles loudly. "Ah gess yah cah sah dat xenos blew hish mahnd!"

More uncontrollable laughter from the not-sober. But on the corner of your eye, you notice something. Criehr's expression has darkened considerably, and she has stopped chatting with the Guardsmen sitting next to her.

She stands up. "I must excuse myself." she says shakily. "I'm suddenly feeling unwell. I will see you later."

And with that, she leaves the tavern.

For those of you who haven't caught on. The reason Crierh's so upset? The guardsman they were just talking about was the one who inspired her to become an Artisan. She was the 'certain xenos' that he had been drawing, which brought about his death.

"GO GET 'EHR CAWBAH! JOJO'S DAH MAHN!" Note to self: never let Mercuria drink again. Ever.

You step out and sweep the area, looking for any signs of Criehr. After a little while, you find her on a small, deserted alleyway between two buildings, leaning against one, her whole body shaking tremendously, and her hand covering the sounds that were coming out of her mouth.

She was crying.

"Criehr..." you call out lamely.

He was a Guardsman.
Do not cry, he died with you in his thoughts. He died knowing that he had done his best to capture what he knows as perfection.

He did not die of Orks, tearing his limbs from his bodies.
He did not die, full of terror, against the Necrons.
He did not die, consumed by Chaos.
He did not die, flesh torn from his bones by the Tyranids.
Yes, he did die, but he died loving you. He died content, knowing that his fate was sealed the first moment he laid eyes on you, content that he got more than a single outline of you in his sketchbook.
>>
>>27750295

Slowly, softly, you wrap your arms around her back, giving her a comforting embrace.

She wails, and she howls, like the Banshee she once was, but this was not a battle cry, no, this yell carried no wish to harm. It was simply filled with anguish.

Her body gives in, and her legs buckle. As she slides down the wall, you follow her descent, and end up kneeling next to her.

"It's okay...let it all out."

All that pent-up sorrow fuels her tears, and she cries and cries, and cries, and cries for what feels like an eternity. All you can do right now is give her this support.

"I SAW HIM!" she cries out. "I SAW HIS HEADLESS CORPSE! THEY PUT IT THERE FOR ME TO SEE! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THAT TO HIM?! HE DIDN'T WANT TO HURT ANYONE!! WHY!! WHY!! Why!! why..."

She has no more energy left to scream with..

Silently, she still sobs and sniffles. At the very least, she let some of it out.

"Criehr..."

You are not good with words. You never have been. Perhaps never will be.

But even if just for this one time, you're going to make sure your words are the one she needs.

"Did he ever tell you...what they say about us?"

She shakes her head as she dries her eyes with her sleeves.

"Once we become Guardsmen...we know there is no turning back. Our lives belong to the Emperor, and we accept that fate. We accept 'death'. 'Dying' is what we Guardsmen do best. When we die, we die standing. We die fighting. We die for what we believe in."

The shaky depths of her eyes are still there, but you have their full attention.

"What did he believe in? I'm certain, that if he became close to you, he believed in 'peace'. He believed in your 'bonds'. He knew his fate was sealed, but...he would still swim against the current of the turbulent river that is 'hatred'."

You point at the sky, your eyes never breaking contact with hers. "I'm certain, Criehr. He died content, because he died for 'loving' someone in this universe fueled by 'hate'. I'm certain! He thought his death a small price for getting to meet you! So now...it's time for us to pick up where he left off!"

Your hand pointing skywards descends and is offered to the sobbing girl in front of you.

"Let's go, comrade. Let's build that 'future' he dreamed of. Let's fight against 'blind hate'. It is by the Emperor's will that I met you all. I'm positive, that it is too, by the Emperor's will, that I will follow that undertaking."

"JoJo...."

She takes your hand, and her destiny is sealed, as well.

"Criehr, let's go."

You two head back to the tavern.

As you walk through the doorway, something comes flying your way.

It's a bottle.

You catch it in midair, right in front of your face.

"Gentlemen, please, try to contain your excitement." You respond.

The whole room is in awe of your reflexes. They are even more in awe of you, as you appear to radiate a noble aura best described as 'golden'. Everyone within the establishment is, to put it mildly, overcome by your domineering presence.

"Mercuria, Rahman, Zola, You. We're leaving. We've got work to do."

Without a word, they assemble. Mercuria even seems to have regained some of her faculties.

"We have work to do, my friends. Let us go."

"All right, so that's...Joachim, Mercuria, Rahman, Zola, Celia, and...Yuuto?"

"That is indeed correct, Major Mira!" you loudly proclaim. "Now, we have a need of that information that we are now cleared to recieve!"

"Precisely." Mira sat down on her chair, resting her elbows on the large desk in front of her. "The locals are not questioning this, but for many, it would seem wrong, would it not?"

"...So there's something else to this, isn't there?" 'Yuuto' asks.

"That's correct. The reason the 203rd is in Parmeno is not because of some training program...we're in Ultramar for another reason."

Rahman's brow furrows. "Proceed, Major."

"....We've got first-line tickets for an event of which is unheard of." Her voice is breaking. "...The private execution of Captain Titus of the Ultramarines' 2nd Company, accused of Heresy and Corruption by Chaos, to be held a day from now on Talasa Prime."

Criehr's eyes widen behind you. "JoJo...I didn't notice it before...I'm sorry."

"Shit!" Yuu'yan exclaims. "We're fucking surrounded!!"

Now you hear it, too. The small, almost imperceptible clanking caused by quickly raising a lasrifle to train it at someone. The rustling of the tent's flaps, as Cadian troopers swarm in, taking aim at you and your party.

"Do you think I'm so naive as to believe that Guardsmen who should be stationed on a planet several sectors away would find themselves here so quickly?! Do you think I would not find it suspicious that they'd be asking about Captain Titus' whereabouts!?"

"Major Mira..." you protest weakly, in a feeble attempt at diplomacy.

"I know it. You know of our intentions to rescue Captain Titus from his fate. So now, I'll give you one chance... WHO DO YOU WORK FOR, AND WHY DO YOU WANT US TO SEE THE CAPTAIN DIE?!"

Time to get down to work.

All of those guards are standing on the ground, so we can work with them as much as we want. Friction to jam up those lasrifle triggers so they can't fire. Miss one; Rahman reacts instantly, drawing the "heat" right out of its energy pack and sending it into a nearby rock, causing it to spontaneously explode. Meanwhile, JoJo walks up to the major unhurriedly, and touches his hat.

"We're on a mission from the Emperor, Major. And letting Captain Titus die is the /last/ thing we're going to do."

>"I... I work for the Emperor, Major! For the Emperor himself! Please, Major! There is a misunderstanding here! We're here to rescue Titus ourselves!"

You notice Weather Girls at the corner of your vision.

The Major lowers the Laspistol.

...and she raises it again, firing at Yuu'yan.

The shot pierces his left flank. He falls worldlessly to the ground, clutching it.

Zola screams.

"The next shot will actually be fatal. Now let's try that aga-"

But she cannot finish her sentence. Macha appears next to her, and with an overhead slash of her Singing Spear, cleaves her laspistol in two.

The ambushers have to be confused right about now. Time to act.

"LOW RIDER!"

Your Stand's right fist connects with one of the Guardsmen behind you, knocking him out cold. You extend its range a bit, hitting several others.

"FIRESTARTER!"

Rahman's Stand, too, decides to engage in fisticuffs rather than use its special ability.

....You see a woman standing behind Mercuria. Her skin is a pale blue-white, she wears a choker, and she appears to wear armor made of jet-black leather. Her face is obscured by headgear made of pure red gemstone...

...like a giant ruby.

"RUBY TUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESDAY!!" The newfound Stand joins in on the melee, too.

It is not long before every one of the ambushers are knocked out cold.

After the adrenaline has worn off, you come back to your senses. "Yuu'yan!"

Your worries subside as soon as you hear a low grunt.

"Damn, that shot grazed me, but only barely. Easily could've been worse. Sure am glad my reflexes are still in the game."

Macha raises her Singing Spear to Mira's neck. "Major Nero. You are cornered. Do not resist."

Defiantly, Mira shakes with fury. "Wh-what the hell is going on here?!" Each word drips with hatred and vitriol.

"Oh, just a group of Guardsmen sent by your Emperor himself to rescue the same person you're trying to save getting a terrible welcome by their would-be allies, and a friendly neighborhood Farseer stepping in so that you don't do something you regret. Wait. Don't say it...next you're gonna say 'Curse your lies...Xenos Witch!', right?"

"Curse your lies...Xenos Witch!" Mira utters through her teeth. "...Wait...What?!"

"Now, now, Mira." Macha mutters mockingly. "If their intentions were truly that sinister, don't you think they could have killed all of you already? Because this fight seemed pretty one-sided from here."

"Vile Xenos...Don't you know where you are? I'LL HAVE YOU PURGED BY HOLY FIRE!!"

"Oooooooh?" Macha raised an eyebrow, further taunting the Major. "So what are you going to do? Call that Inquisition you Mon'Keigh were plotting against? I'm certain they'd love to hear this..."

On her free hand, Macha holds a thin, rectangular device. She pushes into it, and sound fills the tent.

"...I know it. You know of our intentions to rescue Captain Titus from his fate. So now, I'll give you one chance..."

Mira's eyes widens as she shakes even more furiously.

"So go ahead! Call the Inquisition, or the Marines! We'll both go down in flames. Now, I'm pretty sure you don't care if you die...but if you do, won't the Captain's chance at living die with you, too?"

Mira cannot take it anymore, and falls to her knees. Her eyes are hollow and distant. Her will has been shattered.

(cont.)
>>
>>27752868

"JoJo." Macha now turns to speak to you, withdrawing her weapon. "You really have to be more careful. Not everybody is going to believe in your good intentions, even if you share the same noble goals." She tosses the rectangular device to you, which you promptly catch. "Here, collateral. Also proof that what I do on the other end is not just simply slack off. Later."

"Thanks, Macha." is all you can respond.

"....JoJo?" She turns towards you once more. "You can't die until I introduce you to LIVII and Lofn, you hear?"

"I hear you, Macha."

And just like that, she's gone.

[RUBY TUESDAY -

USER: Mercuria Costello

STRENGTH: A*
SPEED: C
RANGE: D
PRECISION: B
STAYING: D
LEARNING: D

ABILITIES -

Shine Bright (Like a Diamond): Ruby Tuesday has gemstones where her knuckles should go, in the following order, starting from the index finger's knuckle: Ruby (R), Emerald (E), Sapphire (S), and Topaz (T) (REST). The "Right Hand Gemstones" are embedded unto an object (this does not harm the object) in order to 'select' them. The "Left Hand Gemstones", in the same order, are instead used to establish 'distance'.

Any object embedded with a 'Right Hand Gemstone' will have a fully functional copy appear where the 'Left Hand Gemstone' equivalent is located, and will imitate the actions of its original.

For example, by embedding a 'Right Hand Gemstone' on a 'Heavy Bolter', and setting its 'Left Hand Gemstone' seven meters to the right, another, identical 'Heavy Bolter' will appear on the location where the 'Left Hand Gemstone' was left, and will move in the exact same ways as the original object will. So if somebody is operating the 'Heavy Bolter' and aims it a little to the left, the 'copy' will also move a little to the left, even if nobody is using it. When the 'original' fires, the 'copy' fires.]
>>
>>27753232
Does this effect work vice versa? If someone moves the copy does the original move too?

[*More than one set of gemstones can be used for the same object.
*Every time a gemstone is removed from the Stand's hands, that hand's "Strength" parameter goes down for one Rank in regards to direct combat. So by using all the Gemstones at the same time, the Stand's Strength Parameter goes from 'A' to 'E'].
>>
>>27753265

[The effect does not work vice-versa. Only the original object has those effects on the 'copies' So if you try to move one of several copies, this will not affect the others. If someone tries to move the original, though, this movement will be emulated by all the copies.

This Stand is a bit difficult to explain, so if you got any questions, go ahead and ask]

>>27753322

Would not work, as any 'effect' applied on the 'copies' will not affect anything but 'itself', but any effect applied on the 'original' will affect all copies']

Ruby Tuesday can recall those gemstones, but once she does, the copy disappears.

Of course, it would work for that grenade trick you just mentioned.]

If we place a gemstone on an enemy's face, would we make a copy of his face? And then we can punch the copy. Which would also punch his real face.

>>27753533

[You could make a copy of his face or body, what you copy depends on Mercuria's will.

However, punching the copy will cause no damage to the original. Just the copy.

Actually, since Ruby Newsday's stat's are pretty terrible for a melee Stand, I'd be more willing than usual to sacrifice it's strength for utility. It'll be good against conventional troops due to its intangiblity, but against proper melee stands in a fight, it'll lose horribly.

Here's an ability comparison

[RUBY TUESDAY]

STRENGTH: A* - At peak strength, it can shatter boulders, punch a hole through someone's torso with ease, throw chunks of buildings at someone, or even industrial vehicles like road rollers.

SPEED: C - Not that much greater than a human being, considering that Stands can approach hypersonic to realativistic speeds at B and A ranks respectively, it'll be horribly slow against Stands that specialise in punching.

RANGE: D - about 5m~ish.
Precision: B - Not good enough to preform brain surgery with our Stand's bare fingers, but still superhumanly accurate. Our stand can flick stones/bullets to a range of 75-100m (Josuke almost hit a *rat* behind cover at 60m.)

STAYING: D - Pretty fragile, relegate to support duties.
LEARNING: D - Not much room for improvement, sadly.

I'm actually shocked, since her alternate couterpart Hermes, had a Stand (KISS) Stat spread equal to Part 3's Star Platinum at AAACA. (Kiss swaps Star Platinum's Range with Percision.)
