Your voyage towards Ultramar aboard the Eldar transport 'Isha's Embrace' has, so far, been quite eventful. For starters, you see the xeno (or at least, some of the xeno) in a new light. Having eaten a meal made by one, been the models for the sketching of another, and even offended yet another by accident, you've come to realize something that could as well have you declared a heretic.

They are not so different from you, after all.

That said, while the servants of the Imperium would have declared you a heretic on the spot just for entertaining that spot, who truly matters would have not; after all, it was the Emperor himself that made this meeting possible, and it is because of the Emperor that you currently travel to the Ultima Segmentum, knowing your current mission to be the rescue of the 「Wrongfully Accused」.

You honestly wished you had more information than just that. Ultramar was composed of several planets, so the question was...where to begin?

Perhaps because of the extreme conditions you just recently survived (escaping a planet before it suffered the final fate of Exterminatus), summoning your 「Stand」for the first time, getting tossed through the air by an Ork Warboss...stress has taken quite a toll on you, Guardsman, hasn't it? You've slept for nearly a full day within your bunk. Granted, it is difficult to know when a day begins and ends during space travel, but you've definitely slept through most of the trip.

After freshening yourself up in the deserted cabin, you toss on your fatigues' pants and slide your black undershirt on. The heart-shaped pendant hangs from your neck (you're not one to ever remove it, considering its incredible use which would no doubt cause a disaster in the wrong hands), and you decide to leave your scarf on top of your bed.

You step out of the cabin you were resting within. What do you do?

You decide to try and find the rest of the surviving Battlers. But first, you decide to check what you hand on hand.

On you, you currently have the very basics: your Regiment-issued uniform pants, combat boots, black undershirt, and you wear the Heart-Shaped Pendant.

Within the chest, you placed two frag grenades, one laspistol, one canteen filled to the brim, and a combat knife. Your helmet, upper uniform, and scarf lay on top of your bed.

As you step out of your cabin, you stumble upon Macha, who looked like she was about to knock on your door. Seems you caught her a bit by surprise.

You nod. "I was just afraid I had offended you last time. I was going to apologize myself, actually. Now, I do have one question for you."

"Ask away."

"Have you seen any of my comrades? I should probably check out on them."

Macha puts her fist under her chin before looking to the side and speaking up "Yes, I know the woman with the braids is in the cafeteria, and the psyker is lounging about the internal deck. As for the young girl accompanying you, that I do not have the slightest idea."

You smile warmly. "I thank you, Lady Macha. If that's the case, I should get going."

"...Wait." She interrupts. "....T-there was something else I wanted to ask of you."

You hear the trepidation in her voice. Whatever it was she was about to ask, it was certainly something that she is not entirely comfortable about.

"Yes? What is it?"

Blushing deeply, she stammers the words out. "C-Can I get a closer look at that b-b-b-birthmark of yours?"

Well generally the option 'Other' or 'Write in' covers that kind of stuff, giving the players preset options is good when we're in a situation where we don't know what to do next. It helps keeps the quest moving, instead of it coming to a halt because /tg/ doesn't want to sound stupid for making a painfully obvious suggestion.
>>
>>27702795

"It really is the same..." she cryptically speaks, as if in a trance.

"...Lady Macha?" you call out, a blush creeping onto your face.

"Eep! I'm sorry!" she immediately retracts her hand and brings it to her chest. You turn around to see her face as red as her hair, her eyes as those of a deer caught in headlights.

"I-I'm sorry! I got carried away...!!" she starts talking a few steps back until she's at the doorway. "I-I'll see you later then!!"

"W-" but before you can say anything, she's gone in a flash. You wonder how anybody could run so fast while dressed in robes so obtrusive, but you remember hearing that Eldar were naturally swift.

In any case...it was probably time to look around for everyone else.

After that rather strange encounter with the Farseer, you decide that it is better to go back to your original plan. The cafeteria is closer to your cabin, so you decide to head there first and meet up with Mercuria, resolving to meet up with Rahman later.

When you do arrive at the cafeteria, you see Mercuria chatting vividly with Trussardos while holding a mug of what you presume is recaf.

"Hey, JoJo! Looks like you finally woke up!"

"Oh, good day, gourmand!"

You decide to approach the duo.

"Mercuria. Trussardos. How are you faring this fair day?"

After exchanging the standard pleasantries, Trussardos excuses himself and heads back to the kitchen.

"That xeno guy's pretty cool. A little bit too obsessed with food and its preparation, but pretty cool regardless."

"Mercuria, I just wanted to know how you're holding up." She holds a thumbs up at your direction.

"Much better than yesterday, JoJo. I'm still pretty much digesting this whole situation, but I'm good. That said, you mentioned that getting cut with that pendant of yours made you manifest a Stand, right?"

You nod. "Yes, I was going to ask you about that, actually. Any updates in regard to your Stand?"

"I'm afraid not." she responds dejectedly. "I suppose I can see that Farseer's Stand now, if a bit blurry, but I still haven't been able to use any crazy powers like yours or hers."

"That is rather odd. Still, if you can see them, it must mean that you will be able to use one eventually. The Emperor cannot be wrong about this."

She nods and takes a sip of the hot beverage she's holding. "So what are you going to do now?"

"I'm probably going to see Rahman now, see if he has any ideas were we can start our search for that 'Wrongfully Accused' person."

"Sounds like a plan to me." she answers back.

Once the flames have subsided, you dust yourself a bit, and get up. "It's quite alright, Rahman. I take that was the work of your Stand?"

"Indeed, Joachim. My Stand has finally awakened."

Behind Rahman floats a humanoid with what would be best described as a birdlike mask and hair made out of fire. The humanoid figure wears form-fitting armor which does not cover its red arms.

[STAND NAME: Firestarter
User: Rahman Akon

STRENGTH: B
SPEED: B
RANGE: E
PRECISION: C
STAYING: C
LEARNING: B

Abilities:

Manhattan Transfer - Firestarter's main ability. It can exchange the 'heat' between two different objects as desired by one of two methods:

1. Direct Contact (either with Stand or User)
2. Using the "Laser Beacon" on its belt, as specified within the "Targeting" ability.

Once contact with the object has been made with any of these two methods , Firestarter can "trade" heat between them at will. It can transfer all the heat from one object to the other, distribute it evenly, at will, ect. However it cannot dissipate the heat by using the "air" as an "object". Additionally, this skill only works on inanimate objects, and not biological constructs.

Targeting: Firestarter's belt has two eye-like structures, which fire a "targeting laser"-like beacon. For all extents and purposes, anything the "targeting laser" is in contact with counts as if it is in direct contact with Firestarter for the purpose of using "Manhattan Transfer".

Flame Manipulation: Firestarter can bend, redirect, move, extinguish, dissipate, ect. any flames within its and its user's line of sight, no contact is necessary.]

"I can see it, I can." you respond. It looks quite intimidating, actually.

"It's name is Firestarter", Rahman adds, "and as the name suggests, it bestows the mastery of flames and heat unto me."

"So, did you lose control?" he nods.

"Indeed", he adds. "I only did as I thought I could control the ability. 'Twas a bad idea."

Man my rolls suck. Anyway, Firestarter's ability to manipulate "heat" is - if we're talking in the theoretical sense of "heat" - broken beyond all reason. He essentially has the ability to manipulate energy, and not only that, he can do so at a distance. Combine it with our friction's ability to generate heat, or even just Rahman's built-in entropy-defying Psyker abilities, and he essentially gets near-limitless sources of heat to work from. The only real limit on him is if we ever need to suck heat /out/ of something - he'll need another object of similar or greater heat capacity in order to do so without destroying it before finishing his job.

But yeah, otherwise speaking, Firestarter is one broken motherfucker.
>>
>>27703956
And he could probably get a great deal of heat by reducing a decently sized object to absolute zero. Heck he could take out two enemies at once by reducing one's clothes to absolute zero while making the other one's gain all of that heat.
>>
>>27703956

[Of course the Psyker would have the 'theoretically strongest' Stand, all things considered. Still, this is JoJo, the protagonist does not need the 'strongest' Stand, he just needs to be the most creative motherfucker around. I mean Johnny could only shoot his nails in Part 7, but when he got creative with his powers...

Also, the "Laser Beacon" has a range of about 6 meters]

>>
>>27703986

[Addendum: Firestarter cannot affect objects directly in contact with biological constructs. So, for example, where Rahman to attack a fully-decked Joachim...he could manipulate his flak jacket's heat, but not his uniform or undershirt, as those are in direct contact with his skin. So as long as it is touching something biological, it's not usable.]
>>
Semi-related, I noticed that a lot of Dio and Dio-era Black Sabbath songs have good names for Stands.

Hunter of the Heart
Neon Knights
Heaven and Hell
Dream Evil
Mob Rules
Holy Diver
>>
>>27703995

That makes it a little better. And yeah, of course - friction is, after all, nothing but a force and a change of energy. There are plenty of ways to abuse that. It's just a little harder, and therefore more fun.

>>27703986
As far as I can tell, Firestarter can't store any heat inside himself - he can only transfer it between two objects.

>>27704020
And that's an interesting limit to impose. I like it.
>>
Rolled 90

I noticed we're missing a roll so I'm putting one down for using some friction-power cleaning magic to clear up some of these scorch marks. It would be...rather unfortunate if Macha walked in on this. We've already ticked her off twice...
>>
>>27703995
Ah, not so broken then.
If it's used too recklessly it'll kill the user as well.
Suitable for psyker.
>>
>>27704020
Does firestarter count itself as biological. Because if it doesn't then I have a feeling we might get a "this hand of mine glows with an awesome power" moment. Although admittedly that addendum fixes some of the really broken stuff like say stabbing someone with a knife and then using that knife as heat contributes for something else while it is still inside that person.
>>
>>27704039
Was referring to simultaneous take down with the clothes thing.
>>

"Low Rider!" Your Stand is summoned.

You need to clean these marks, but how?

An idea rises from within you. You take off your undershirt, revealing your sculptural, athletic body, and have Low Rider hold it.

Within a moment, Low Rider decreases the friction on the piece of clothing.

"ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA!!"

High-speed friction-low cleaning! The amount of scrubbing your Stand has done has completely removed the scorch marks and left the doorway sparkling clean!!

"Incredible thinking, Joachim!" Rahman exclaims.

You turn back towards him, grinning. You also notice Criehr is staring at you whist holding her legs close to her chin with interlocked arms.

...Is that a little bit of drool coming from her mouth?

"I simply was able to do so this morning", he responded. "I just knew what it could do...just like you could with Low Rider."

"Have you felt anything strange aside from that?"

"...This might sound strange, but I feel....free. Free of the ever present threat of Chaos, I mean. Don't get me wrong, Chaos is still there and I can still access the Warp for the sake of using my powers, but...I feel as if Chaos has no longer any desire to convert me into a twisted travesty of humanity."

"...Are you certain about this?" You ask. "This could be an incredible revelation."

"I cannot say anything for certain, Joachim. It's just how I feel. As if I will never again hear those voices."

You cross your arms. "Well, if that's the case, I'm happy for you. I've heard one too many horror stories of what can happen to a psyker overcome by Chaos."

Rahman grins. "And I lived with the fear that would happen any day. But no longer."

You decide to change the topic. "Have you seen Zola?"

Yes but the method they work in are fundamentally different. Stands users take damage if their Stands are damaged, you can't hurt a Psyker by punching hellfire. My theroey is that Stands drawn upon the user's own psychic energy, while Psykers draw from the Warp.

Deciding to check on Zola, you head towards the Cargo Bay. Once you open the door, you overhear a conversation.

"...Listen, kid. I like you, and I'd be glad to teach you a thing or two about fighting, but a cramped transport isn't exactly the best place."

"...But Yuu'yan, at this rate, I'm only slowing down everyone else!"

You see Zola speaking to a male Eldar warrior with short-cropped golden hair, clad in large red, black and white armor, mostly red. He places a hand on her shoulder. "You're underestimating yourself. You can heal them, can you not? Not every role in the battlefield requires combat. Plus, as a Warp Spider, I'm afraid my fighting style cannot be emulated by you. She scans you from head to toe quickly...

...and before you even know it, she faints.

You catch her in your arms before she can fully collapse and possibly hit herself with something. Cradling her in your arms, you turn your gaze to Criehr, whose eyes are pretty much sparkling by now.

"Criehr, which way to Lady Macha's room?" you know what must be done.

"Oh." she mutters under her breath. "Damn."

"What was that? I'm afraid I didn't quite catch that last part." You seriously didn't.

"Nothing, nothing. I'm fine. I'm really, really fine. Fine, like you have no idea. The finest."

She seems a bit out of it.

"Lady Macha, are you sure you are quite all right? You seem a tad bit nervous. Perhaps due to my presence in your quarters?"

"N-no, absolutely not!! You're welcome here anytime!" She blurts out, before realizing what she just said. "Err, I mean, as long as it's for important business..."

"I understand", you respond.

"As in, important BUSINESS business."

"I got that the first time, Lady Macha. Well, now that we're here, we probably should discuss BUSINESS business."

her father is Eldrad Ulthran, who is one of the smartest and best-prepared individuals in the 40k 'verse. He is also a massive dick

Canonically, there's no information given even in the (terribad) tie in novels. On /tg/, it's Farseer Eldrad Ulthran, the oldest living Eldar, master of keikaku and a colossal dick.
>>

>>
Rolled 90

Creed is the master of Tactical Genius, being able to sneak a Baneblade or Titan behind a lamppost. Eldrad is a master of planning/forseeing convoluted and complicated schemes on par with the Emperor, Tzeentch and the Laughing God (since the Deceiver got retconned into shards)
>>
>>27706106

Eldrad and Creed play poker/chess/roulette sometimes. Nobody really knows what goes on, because anyone who's ever witnessed it hasn't been able to understand it.

They used to join Cegorach, Tzeentch, the EMPRAH and the Deciever for their weekly sessions, but Creed got kicked out after he somehow swapped his pawns and poker chips for a squad of Imperator-class Titans. Eldrad got kicked out because even in that group of assholes everyone agreed he was /the/ biggest dick.
>>
Oh yeah and the Deciever is pretending to be shards at the moment. I forgot about that.

>>27705990 (Continuous Gentleman's Action)

Perhaps due to your fair treatment of her, as well as your caring, compassionate gaze, Farseer Macha, once again with a forlorn gaze, decides to speak.

"I suppose I can tell you...No, this is something you most likely need to know."

"What is it?" You inquire quizzically.

"See that picture over there?" She gestures at the portrait you were observing before. "They're my 'insufferable' sister", she says this with pure, undiluted sadness dripping from her voice, "her Mon'keigh husband, and...my half-eldar niece."

"I understand. However, what does that have to do with the matter at hand?"

"My niece has the same birthmark you do."

A cold, electric jolt runs through your body.

Your sweat runs cold. Words escape you.

Your mind comes to the most logical possible conclusion: the 'husband' might be a Joestar...

"Lady Macha!" shakingly, you ask, "I must know more about your sister's husband!"

"...Taldeer met him 「9 Years Ago」...that man was a 「Vindicare Assassin」 whom they called 'LIIVI'...you've probably never heard of them. They're quite the Imperial secret. Anyways...he was sent to kill her...but he didn't. Instead, he protected her. Together, they escaped to an Exodite world, and they had a child."

"Your niece..."

"Lofn. That's her name."

"So, your interest in my birthmark..."

"...was because of that, yes." she nods, now sitting upright on the bed.

"Do you think that this LIIVI might be..."

"Related to you somehow?" Macha interrupts. "Yes. It's very likely considering what you told me about that Star-Shaped Birthmark's uniqueness."

"Macha, that's twice now that you've sounded on the verge of tears when talking about your family. Forgive me for prying, but are you alright?" Dropping all honorifics and titles, you go ahead and ask her what ails her.

"My sister, Taldeer? .................She's dead."

Seeing her crying made you want to shed a tear, as well, but nothing would come out of your eyes as you numbly put your hand on her back in an attempt at a comforting gesture.

"They told her it was one last mission for Ulthwe, a return to Kronus, and that they'd leave her and her husband alone afterwards...she...didn't come back..."

There are no words you could possibly use in a situation like this. The barriers that exist between human and xeno have shattered for you. They live, they feel, they laugh, and they cry, just like you.

"It was someone from Gabriel Angelos' chapter...the Blood Ravens."

Adeptus Astartes? Space Marines? You've only heard the tales, including some in which the Blood Ravens chapter aided one of Stella Platina's regiments...

"...Have you realized it yet, Joachim?" her using your first name felt different, but was not unwelcome. "This ship and its crew? We're not an official Eldar force. Right now, you could probably call us 'criminals'..."

'Kay, so, apparently Taldeer may or may not be still alive. The Eldar campaign in DoW is apparently all about saving Taldeer's soulstone. 1d4chan claims that the commonly-accepted "Good Ending" is a combination of both. So there's a chance that Taldeer's soulstone is out there somewhere and she will return as a Wraithseer and royally fuck shit up in the best ways possible.

I'm totally suggesting "Track down Taldeer's soulstone and return it to LIIVI" as a Bioware-style subquest. Because I have a horrible weakness for love-conquers-all and touching back-from-the-dead reunions.

You let her cry on your shoulder a bit. Once she seemed to calm down a bit, you decide to break the hug.

"Macha, your crew... what is it you hope to accomplish?"

"...Remember I had a deal with your Emperor?" You nod. "It was in exchange for information. Information on my sister's fate. Everybody in this ship...either served under Taldeer or myself in the past, and have decided to throw it all away for both of us..."

"You must be grateful" you add, "to have such loyal comrades."

"Farseer Macha! We'll be at an appropriate location in a few minutes, ma'am!" Answers one of the navigators.

"Splendid. I will head towards the airlock and use Weather Girls to get everything ready. JoJo, it should not be that long now."

With that, she leaves. You feel, upon gazing at her back, that she too was an irreplaceable friend.

Let's decide on a plan of action, then ask about Zola- is it wise to bring her along or is she too emotionally compromised?

An Eldar Joe Star? Makes sense seeing as they're the most fabulous race in 40k.

"JoJo, how come you have just come into the bridge with the xenos witch without a shirt?" Mercuria was grinning slyly.

Rather than explaining all that happened just a little while back, you pull out the remains of my undershirt.

"You are going to need a replacement, huh." Mercuria added.

"That is unimportant at the moment" you say. "We need to talk. The time to execute the Emperor's request is at hand, so...I must know. What do you two think about Zola's current state?"

Mercuria's expression immediately softened. "I don't think she's ready for something potentially dangerous just yet...it hasn't been long since she lost her father."

You agree with that. The fact that Colonel Josef was her father was rather shocking, but the consequences were apparent immediately.

"However", Rahman adds, looking pensive, "she might be needed once we are in the surface. As a trained medic, she could very well be the difference between life and death for us.

Agree with Mercuria, leave her behind

question though: Is Mercuria a possible "route"?

It's true she is a medic, but if she's unable to do her duties correctly she might only cause more harm than good on the field if she can't keep it together.

So, let's discuss plans then check on Zola to see how she is.

On an aside, I really think romance should be among the lowest of priorities for a Jojo quest. Come on, guys.
