Well, last night's thread was a bit shorter than anticipated due to posting getting disabled. Anyways, time for VMQ!

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are LUCAS WILLIAMS, a member of the mercenary company Demons of Randgriz and a graduate from its elite TIER ONE Program. You are now part of the elite, but inexperienced WRAITH TEAM, consisting of you and your fellow classmates from training.

After a grueling year of training and quick battle to get rid of some troublesome pirates harassing Gallia's northern coast, you and Wraith Team have found yourselves transferred to the exotic land of San Salvacion, an entire ocean away from Gallia. You've been brought in to help the beleaguered country suppress the rebels that oppose its rule, as well as counter any possible Erusean aggression from the South.

Unfortunately, the action started much sooner than you thought it would when your base was ambushed literally almost the moment you set foot in it. While the attackers were repulsed, the attack has left you and your squad a bit shaken that presumably poorly armed and organized rebels could strike at the heart of San Salvacion's military power in the south so easily.

Unfortunately, it seems the situation is getting more and more complicated as more players in this conflict begin to reveal themselves, such as Emmerian special forces, Imperial weapon smugglers, unscrupulous rival mercs, and more...

Currently, you're hiding behind an inexplicably armored coffee table with Falynn and a very well dressed and armed Emmerian while what are undoubtedly Erusean-funded rebels are unloading SMG bullets at you.

And the date was going so well, too. Maybe Lara's fear of pineapple was so illogical after all...

"You know how to shoot that, kid?" The Emmerian asks, pointing to your handgun.

"Yeah, of course." You nod.

"Good. The name's Jack." The man shakes your hand.

"Lucas."

"Falynn." Falynn quips.

"Look, we're not going to get anywhere just hiding behind this table." Jack says, taking a quick peek around the side before quickly withdrawing as he's met with a hail of bullets. "I count four of them clustered around the van. If you give me some covering fire I think I can flank them."

You and Falynn fire off a steady stream of rounds at the van where the rebels are using as a makeshift bunker/firing position. Bullets ping off the metal sides, and the rebels hesitate, obviously not expecting any sort of resistance.

That hesitation proves fatal for the van driver. Falynn exhales and shoots off the last round in her mag, which drills straight trough the man's throat. The rebel gurgles and tumbles out of the driver compartment, and the remaining three rebels quickly take cover behind the van.

Meanwhile, you catch sight of Jack, now hiding behind a mailbox and in a very good flanking position. You both make eye contact.

You slap a fresh magazine in to your pistol and check your ammo pouch. You weren't expecting a serious firefight, so you only brought about five mags total. Well, four now.

"Falynn, how man mags have you got?" You ask.

"Well.. um..." Falynn lifts the hem of her tactical skirt and you can see quite a lot of extra mags taped on the inside. "I kinda brought a lot extra when Simo wasn't looking..."

Always the dutiful engineer. Well, you guess ammo wouldn't be that big of an issue as long as you stuck with Falynn. WIth your handguns loaded, you both unload into the van once again.

As you fire, one of the rebels takes a chance and breaks cover to return fire. However, a bullet or a ricochet or something hits him the face which causes him to flinch, giving Jack the opening he needs to put a three round burst in the middle of his back, putting him down for good.

The other two rebels, now realizing the tables have turned, start spraying their SMGs in a desperate bid to kill or at least suppress you. One aims at Jack while the other focuses on you and Falynn.

However, their return fire is largely ineffective. Jack dashes and rolls away as the mailbox he's hiding behind is riddled with bullets. Meanwhile, the second rebel can't quite get a clear shot at you and he wastes his entire mag on the armored coffee table. Realizing they probably weren't going to win this, one of the rebels leaps into the back of the van while the other dashes for the driver's seat.

You give the rebel a solid right hook, smashing into his face and causing his head to smack into the side of the van again. The double whammy is just too much for him and he drops like a sack of potatoes.

However, at that moment, you hear more SMG fire and you instinctively fall backward as tracers zip inches past your face. From the fresh bullet holes opening up in the side of the van, you realize that the last rebel probably heard the commotion inside and started firing wildly.

At that moment, Jack swoops in, ripping the back of the van door opening and firing his pistol three more times. You hear a loud, meaty THUNK inside the van as well as a metallic clang of a gun dropping.

"Well, I guess that's one way to end a date." Jack quips as he reloads his handgun. "Hm... you're those Gallian mercenaries everybody's been talking about, right? The Demons of Randgriz, or something like that?"

"Yeah." You nod.

Meanwhile, Falynn moves in to police the bodies, scavenging their SMGs as well as any other useful equipment from the van.

"Well, you did good out there kid. Guess you're worth the money after all." Jack grins.

"You know, you never said what you did for a living"

Merc, I love both of your quests, but there's something about it that's been bugging me. It feels like the romance and the lock is happening a bit too fast. I dunno, it doesn't feel like things really developed enough between the characters for it to feel that natural yet.

>>27707906
Something about VMQ 2, I mean, just to specify. Sam and Jager's relationship in the last quest felt right because they slowly grew closer over a large stretch of the quest until they reached the climax of their arc. I dunno if I can say the same about this one.

Falynn pretty much reached the climax of her character development right there with the fight against Kravchenko. Normally, you'd expect a throwdown of that magnitude to occur much later into the plot, but because it happened without a lot of the other characters having their shit sorted out, the relationship feels like it happened prematurely, which is probably a reason for a lot of the butthurt and waifu warring of the previous threads. Jager had the chances to build those social links with all his potential love interests, as well as play matchmaker; Lucas didn't have that.
>>
>>27708189
That is EXACTLY it. It all felt rushed, and with so much left in the story to go through, I fear that Lucas' interactions with his comrades won't carry nearly as much weight as Jager's in VMQ1. The pacing of the plot and character development in the first one was damn near perfect. VMQ2's pacing doesn't feel as solid.

>>27708189
Excellent analysis. My thoughts precisely. However, we can build towards a second climax of character developement with her. It would not be the normal style, but it could be interesting nonetheless
>>
>>27708333
But what about the others? Morgan and Lucina had a promising amount of development in the first ten or so threads, but then they were slowly relegated to the background. Now it doesn't seem like they're getting much development at all, to say nothing of some of the other characters like Mary-Kate. I don't even know where she is at this point.

What would that entail, though? Combatting the voices in her head, which might be related to her having daddy issues, since the voice in her head *is* her father?

What do you expect out of the firstborn of a one man army and an assassin? She has the emotional complexity of a graham cracker--or at least seems like that at first glance. It could be said that growing up in such an environment may have stunted her emotional growth.

There is nothing preventing further interaction and development with the other girls. It doesn't all revolve around romance, you know, which I think is one of the bigger misunderstandings of most quests.
>>
>>27708378
Okay, first thing we do when we get another R&R session is get more development on Lucina and Morgan by getting them into dresses.

I was hoping to know about Runaround

We get in a sweet 'borrowed' vehicle and drag Edwin and Lucas in for a magical ride/car chase worthy of the Blues Brothers.

Merc, I have a question as to why our squad chose to be soldiers instead of a non military profession. It could really help us find out why our characters act the way they do as well as their motivations.
>>
>>27708808
we could add imperials to replace the nazi's
>>
>>27708606
I know it doesn't have to be romantic. I just don't feel like we're being given that many opportunities to drive this development these days.

Romantic overtones with Falynn:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27114718/#p27119826 More confidence boosting
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27190831/#p27191295 We check up on her in the infirmary followed by, you guessed it, more confidence boosting and then we call her cute
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27339010/#p27343824 Even more confidence boosting after we bump into her because we wanted to help with the defenses, we didn't even stick around when we had the option

Keep in mind Lucas is supposed to be the nice guy white knight.

Lucina always had a presence in the votes but we never went and just hung out with her when something was more pressing or we could interact with a character we haven't.

tl;dr: Merc hates waifu wars way more then he should and when the RNG gods gave him an opportunity to end them he took it, when a girl asking us out actually somehow ended up in a tie, Merc was already committed.
Jesus, SWQ was based or STRIKE WITCHES of all things and yet any waifu wars shit had nothing on the plane loadout shitstorms.
>>
>>27709486
rockets are king!
>>
>>27709486
As mentioned, a retcon or quick forced break up is a horribly shit idea, but it's a hasty teenage relationship.

They could fall madly in love or Lucas could miss hanging out with one of the other girls or Falynn could decide that she only idolized Lucas or Lucina could suddenly undenseify while ignorant of tact or something could happen to Simo and so Morgan wants the one who helped her embrace her femininity or Falynn could go full warcrimes on us or Lucas could scare her shitless with a berserk episode. Who knows?!

If there's going to be a VMQ3, instead of one MC we should generate two, that are already a couple. No risk of waifu war collateral or of Merc panicking and hitting the big red button.

>>27709853

How long until we start back up Merc?

Slow update?

Shall we speculate about what happened to the other characters from the first VMQ?

Did Elizabeth ever go home to Albion for an interesting vacation? Where is Signum, is she traveling about like a knight errant with a squire? And the glorious Stig, is he now manifested himself in another country for a certain motor vehicle show?

>>
>>27709486
this is what I felt like when this happened and passing off the reins off the main character wasn't my choice.

Merc, I really felt that when she made such a confession we should've waited till next weekend since this was a development people were focusing on a lot, a sunday/monday night/morning was a bit poor choice to start such a decision;

While the development can be expanded on even without romance, i still felt this was a bit hasty on what happened even with the near death experience kind of making sense.

Perhaps, I'm still feeling a bit bitter on how it ended but...I can't help but think this way though.
>>
>>27710346
Now I'm a bit confused. Reznov said that Dimitri wanted to start a family after the war, but the both of them and their families were taken to Vorkuta. So does Dimitri having a kid even possible?

>OKAY! Let's get this shit started!

"Sure, whatever you say, Jack." You say, making it clear that you're not entirely convinced.

"Heh, no questions? I'm impressed kid." Jack grins. "Hey, um, Falynn, was it? Find anything useful?"

"Just some SMGs, plenty of ammo for them, and a picture of you." Falynn says, hopping out the back of the van. "Everything else is far too shot up to be of any use."

So, you guess Jack was the real target after all.

"So what, we just wait for the authorities to arrive?" You ask.

"Listen carefully, kid. You hear that?"

You strain your ears, and then wince when you can hear the very familiar sound of gunfire and explosions in the distance. And in no specific direction either, it's happening all over the place. Even now, you can see wisps of smoke risking into the sky from recently started fires.

"That hit on me wasn't the whole plan, just a part of it." Jack scowls as he picks up an SMG.

"Hmmm, I guess I can swap out some of the pistol mags for SMG ammo..." Falynn muses to herself as she starts to lift the hem of the skirt. Then she realizes both you and Jack are watching and her face goes crimson. "P-perverts!"

Huh, but she did the exact same thing during the battle just minutes before. Then again, you were both sort of distracted at the fact that you were both being shot at. Both you and Jack spin on your heels as Falynn does her work.

"So what do you say, kid? We stick together for now until this whole thing blows over?" Jack asks.

I thought Morgan was Dimitri's kid.

Another thought had also occurred to me when you mentioned before Morgon or Lucina didn't have enough points to warrent romance. Do they have an equal end amount or do they vary.

again, From the other comment, Lucina and even Morgon had similar amounts of interactions like Faylynn and while Faylnn made a huge development due to the side chapter, did we fill her points more quickly because of it or was it that it was easier to trigger her froute compared to the others

"Sure, safety in numbers." You nod.

"Great." Jack grins. "So, uh, you got any other friends to help us out here?"

"Yeah, there's the rest of my team, but they' scattered around the city. Finding them all is going to be a bit tough."

"Well, the embassy is easier to find, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the places getting attacked." Jack sighs. "It's fortified for this exact sort of situation, but I'm not sure how long they can hold out."

"You don't have any of your own men to help out?" Falynn asks from behind.

"They're all in the embassy, and since the rebels managed to infiltrate the city so easily, we can't very well trust the local cops here, either. You guys are it."

"Falynn, you have any idea where the others might be?" You ask.

"Well..." Falynn bites her lip. "I know Charlotte was dragging MK and Lucina out for more clothes shopping. I'm pretty sure Bragg going to the nearest bar, and considering Simo usually has to keep an eye on him whenever he does that, pretty much everybody else would have tagged along, too."

"Jack-"

"Already ahead of you, kid." Jack closes his eyes. "I know a couple places where we might find your bar hopping friends. There's only one area worth going for shopping in this city, too, but it's a pretty big place."

"We'll grab Charlotte's group first." You say. "If Lucina's with them, well, we're going to need a good scout in this terrain."

"R-right!" Falynn nods. "I already fixed up the van too, so we can use that to get anywhere we need to! I even added a bit of extra armor to it, too!"

"Wait, how'd you do that?" Jack raises an eyebrow.

"I never leave the base without my engineering kit. And, I um...." Falynn looks away guiltily, "I kinda cut apart your coffee table..."

"Ah, don't worry. The good ol' Emmerian government will pay for that." Jack laughs.

You and Falynn hop into the back of the van while Jack takes position in the driver's seat. He pulls on one of the dead rebels' jackets and ties a bandana around his head to conceal his face.

"So how do you want us to get there? Fast or slow?" He asks as he hits the ignition.

You frown. Going slow meant you were less likely to attract suspicion, especially since you were in a rebel van. On the other hand, going fast meant you'd reach your destination faster...

Fortunately, you don't seem to attract much attention as you drive through the now abandoned streets of San Salvacion City. Once the shooting and explosions started, the civilians rightly either fled or sought shelter. Surprisingly enough, there weren't really many bodies except for a few policemen and a few unlucky civilians. Then again, you guess the rebels' aim is to terrorize the populace, not slaughter them.

"We're here." Jack says as he slowly brakes the van to a stop.

Up ahead, you see a massive, absolutely MASSIVE building that dwarfed all others around it. Was that... the shopping center?

"Heh, if you think that's impressive, you should see the one in Albion." Jack grins. "But back on topic, we've got some trouble."

You look to where Jack is pointing. At the main entrance, you can see several vehicles, vans and technicals, parked on the road with about two dozen rebels standing outside. You can see them ushering out a steady stream of terrified shoppers, letting some loose while grabbing others and shoving them into a makeshift holding area.

"What are they doing..." Falynn whispers.

"Singling out foreigners." Jack scowls. "One of the rebels' biggest gripes against the current government. Your friends are gonna be in trouble."

You observe the area carefully. There's about a dozen men covering the front entrance, filtering out civilians as they file out. Further back, you see another half dozen guarding the prisoners, who are all huddled together. Right now, you probably guess there's around forty or so. Even farther back, you can see a trailer truck pulling in, no doubt to haul the prisoners away.

"Yeah, I can handle it." You say, jumping out of the van. Fortunately, the building was just too damn big for the rebels to to really surround it, so it looks like they were only focusing on the major points of entry, which was both good and bad.

You could try sneaking around the building, which would reduce chances of being spotted, but it would take a lot of time, which you might not have much of.

Or, you could try to find a way into the building and cut straight through it, but that's where the rebels would definitely be in force.

You decide to try to cut through the building the save on time. However, the problem would be to find a way INSIDE it, first. You consider your options. You see an open window the second floor, as well as a bunch of pipes and other assorted things you could use as handholds to climb up to, but that was naturally pretty dangerous and had a high chance of injury.

There was a fire door nearby to, but that could only be opened from the inside. You'd have to force the door open somehow, which might give you away.

Finally, around the corner, you can see where a van had crashed into the wall, knocking a huge hole in it. There's a trio of rebels at it with a tow truck, presumably to try and pull the van out.

Anger isn't something put into some dark corner and forgotten. Though it all depends on how his ideas/code hold up as it's the chains that bind his rage.

You manage to clamber your way up rather awkwardly, but your climbing training kicks and you keep yourself from slipping or falling. You make your way up to the window and quickly clamber in rolling a bit.

Inside... looked like any other department store you've been except... LARGER. There were clothes, toys, perfumes, and other luxury goods as far as the eye could see. The hole floor was dark as well. Power was probably cut, thought that would work in your favor.

You can hear rustling here and there. You're not sure if it's guards or something else.

"MK?" You blink. "Where are the others?"

You creep your way through the department store floor, making sure to stick near whatever you can use to hide behind. Counters, stalls, mannequins, anything. The entire floor is essentially abandoned, though. No rebels, and not even any other civvies. The rebels did a really good job of clearing this place out.

However, as you pass the stairwells, you see a trio of rebels standing there. Two are blocking the stairs down, while a third is in something of a heated argument with them.

"I'm telling you, there's fucking SOMETHING on the fourth floor, and it's fucking tearing us apart!" The third rebel yells. "I've got two men confirmed down and another three missing! Tell Ques that I need reinforcements!"

"We're already stretched thin enough as it is." One of the stair rebels says flatly. "It's a freaking department store. It's not like they've got any soldiers in here or anything!"

Well, that was interesting. You get the feeling that at least Lucina was doing fine on her own. you motion for MK to keep moving, but your hand accidentally brushes across a bunch of hanging beads, creating a soft clicking noise. Normally it wasn't that much, but in the near dead silence of the empty floor, you might as well have been blowing a foghorn.

"Hey wait, did you hear that?" The second stair guard's ears perk up.

"Shit, it's followed us down here!" The third rebel cries. "We gotta get out of here!"

"Go check it out." The first stair guard nods to the second stair guard. "I'll keep an eye on this clown."

The second guard sighs and slowly makes his way forward, his assault rifle raised and ready...

And instinctively all that knife training Tarin had subjected you to suddenly kicks in, and everything seems to make sense. You throw your knife and it and it sails in the air, embedding itself right in the rebel's eye.

The rebel just exhales and tumbles over, though MK rushes forward and manages to catch his body to keep it from making any noise.

"Holy SHIT, Lucas, where''d you learn to do that?"

"MK, we've been through the same training."

"Yeah, well, I might have slept through the knife portions..."

"Focus, MK." You sigh. You take a glance back at the other two rebels. They don't even seem to realize what's happened, and they're in the middle of an argument again.

"Okay, you can have this back." MK returns your SMG. "I've got something better now. ARs are about the only decent infantry weapon the Imps can make."

Hiding the dead rebel under a pile of coats, the both of you make your way to the windows, where you can get a good view of the holding area. Down blow, you can see the rebels are already in the process of herding the prisoners into the back of the trailer truck like cattle. It almost makes you sick. It reminds you of the stories Mom used to tell you about what Imps did to Darcsens in EWII.

I'm not angry about any of this but it felt rushed, like a story I was enjoying got cut short. This wouldn't have bothered me that much except you did exactly the same thing for VMQ1. We never got the point where Jager faced a choice between Sam and Karla. Instead we got this:

>A: Holy shit Sam almost died! Better seize the moment.
>B: Break Sam's heart, you monster. You wouldn't really pick this would you? WOULD YOU?

I wanted to see the Karla ending because I was curious to see how Merc's storytelling ability would have handled a reconciliation like that. But then STUFF happened and that's all history now. I'm okay with that.

But then it happened again! We never got to put it to a true vote between several fully developed relationships. The quest never got to the point where it came down to making a decision between Lucina/Falynn/Morgan. Again we got a very cut and dried choice:

>A: All waifufags in favour of Falynn please check the marked box
>B: All waifufags not in favour of Falynn please check the marked box
>C: All in favour of taking some time to think about this REALLY important decision that will have repercussion for the rest of your lif- PFFF HAHAHA, DO IT FAGGOT I DARE YOU.

Was that really necessary? I mean the whole Falynn The Line thing was a whole other farce that left a bad taste in my mouth but I wasn't expecting it spill over like that. If you want to avoid waifu wars in the future then don't put social interactions up for a vote. Don't give us a choice, just... make them happen. Have us interact with everyone in ways and locations that make sense to give everyone equal time in the spotlight. Eventually a time will come to make a choice, but let it come as it will.

Anyway I'm fine with Falynn but I was hoping for Lucina, on with the show!
>>
>>27716388
As a Sam-fag I wasn't particularly upset about the Sam choice in VMQ1. It seemed a natural progression of what was happening. HOWEVER, I do feel that the Falynn choice was a bit rushed as a Lucina-fag. At the same time though, I can respect it as a one-up to the waifu-fags

"MK, you think you can distract them?" You ask.

"Oh, with my sexy feminine wiles~?" MK cooes.

"You know what I mean." You sigh.

"Yeah yeah, I know what you mean. Hold this for me." She hands you her AR, then steps around the corner and gives the most high pitched shriek you've probably ever heard. "EEEEEEEE! Ruffians!"

"What the-?" You see the rebels whip around. "There's another one!"

"Well, what are you waiting for! Go get her!" The apparent leader yells. Two of the rebels dash after MK. She rounds the corner and you toss her her assault rifle. The rebels would be rounding the corner into a world of hurt.

Honestly I wouldn't want to pick between 3 girls with fully developed relationships because at that point 2 of them are going home heartbroken. If we were going to pick one I think now is the time anyway when there is little emotional damage. I think people are making way too big a deal out of it because the girl they didn't want was picked. I preferred Lucina and I am still 100% fine with his decision. I say it's over and we just go with it now, so we can spend time thinking about important things other than who Lucas should date or whatever. I also think break up options would probably cause another shit storm, and even giving people the notion means some people start arguing over whether or not to screw up the relationship. Besides I'm starting to like Falynn increasingly more lately. Ammo skirt waifu. Basically what I'm saying in response to "it's too early" is would you rather lead 3 girls on until they love you, knowing you can only pick one?
>>

>>27716388
This is exactly how I felt when I went to sleep that night and woke up to find this as the ending. It felt like a repeat of VMQ1 but will less interaction and what little interaction was shared roughly equally between the three so when the last choice was made, I was clearly confused by this.
>>
>>27716534
I have to agree as I prefer Morgan myself. As long as we can still develop their characters, I have no complaint.
>>
Rolled 10 + 2

>>27716534
We kind of did back in VMQ1 and it turned out alright for the most part. However my problem was the time and place in which the decision was made which kind of irks me even now. I honestly felt we should have voted that in a new thread on a fresh weekend since that;s when the userbase is normally full but a sunday night going on monday morning was a little too much/
>>
>>27716570
Morgan's too invested in Simo to care. Maybe if we chose her exclusively we might have stood a chance, but nope.

I prefer Falynn though. To be honest, I just want to ride Merc's funhouse. I don't really mind who gets with Lucas, as long as she isn't downright vile.
>>
>>27716638
But does Simo reciprocate those feelings?

I think the fact Morgan is hanging around Simo so often cements his notion of treating her as a sister rather than a romantic partner. If we can just separate them from each other a bit more frequently, I think that he'll eventually see her not as a sibling, but as a romantic partner.
Another problem is that Simo himself sort of disapproved having relationships in our squad as seen with Lucas and Falynn.
>>

>>27716649

Simo didnt mind morgan hanging on to him.

And his anger and reactions imply at least some attraction.

All of them aren't vile to Lucas and for the most part vic versa depriving on who has majority at the time but again as stated by previous anons, I really wished this decision was pushed to another day or at least until more development had been done/

Also, I was only slightly interested in Morgon until she mention she like Simo as well and I felt that we shouldn't intervene. Faylnn was a different matter. it sort of felt like she kind of stubled onto the flags then us trying to get them.
>>
>>27716713
Now I'm starting to question whether I'm interested in Morgan as a partner or her backstory.
>>
>>27716667
It was pretty obvious that Chequita was a 1-way ticket to BadEndsville.

I, personally, would have loved to ride that train just to see where it went before it crashed, but given that there isn't established policy for what happens if we BAD END it wasn't quite worth the risk. Or sacrifice I guess, not really a "risk" when you know for sure its gonna happen.

You stomp on the rebel's hand to keep him from reaching his pistol. The rebel grunts in pain but before he can make any noise, MK kicks him in the face, putting him out of commission.

Well, that was two rebels down. Unfortunately, there was still one more left, and he didn't seem to be taking the bait.

"Hey! What are you doing!" Another rebel out of your line of sight yells.

"Norega and Pacho went to go chase down a runner!" The third shouts back.

"Well we're loaded up and ready to go! Get your ass moving!"

You didn't really have a lot of time to waste on this guy, so you do a quick and signature Sturmfuhrer headbutt to daze him, and then follow up with some pretty punishing punches. The man's face is a blood mess by the time MK catches up to you.

"Come on Lucas, let's get the hell out of here before they notice!"

You nod and grab the dropped keys. Clambering into the truck's cab, you hit the ignition and pull the truck away. You check your rearview mirrors, but the rebels don't seem to notice anything is amiss. Yet.

You pick up the truck's radio and tune it to the Demon frequency.

"Falynn, Jack, I got the truck. Meet me three blocks north of the shopping center."

"Got it." Jack responds.

That's when you hear a huge WHUMP on the back of the truck.

"Uh, MK, did you hear that?" You say nervously."

"Y-yeah." MK nods.

"Can't stop here." You shake your head. "Can you check it out?"

"While moving?"

"I guess I could try and shake them off, you frown."

"Hold it right there!" You hear a very familiar voice and you feel a pistol pressed against your temple.

"Charlotte." You say calmly. "I'm pretty sure Tarin taught you to never let your gun contact the enemy because then they'd know where it's pointing."

"Really, Lucas, you're gonna lecture me now of all times?" Charlotte pouts. "I could've just shot you without giving you a warning."

"Oh, then you'd probably make Falynn really angry. You retort. "She's fine, by the way. We're going to meet up with her right now. How are you holding up, MK, Lucina?"

"Oh, it's been an eventful day." Lucina says as if she's commenting on the weather. "I see you've done well for yourself."

"C-c-can you please take the knife off my throat? Please?" MK stammers.

"Oh, sorry, Mary-Kate." Lucina retracts the knife.

"So, uh, mind letting us in? It's kinda dangerous and frankly quite rude to leave us both hanging on outside the truck like this."

"You can wait for a another minute or two, we're almost there."

"I'm actually enjoying the breeze." Lucina adds in.

"So what have you two been up to, then?" You ask.

"Oh, you know, ogling at clothes, testing perfume, ogling at jewelry, all that girly stuff." Charlotte shrugs. "Damn! I should've swiped something nice before we left!"

"Well, too late now." You say, bringing the truck to a stop at a rather secluded vacant lot. You see Jack and Falynn have already beaten you there.

"That's a good job, kid." Jack says as he goes up to meet you. He sees the other girls and whistles. "Friends of yours?"

"Some of my squadmates." You confirm.

"Lucky guy." Jack says offhandedly before turning back to you. "Right, well, I've been scouting the area. There are no more rebels north of this area, so I think we can set the civilians loose here. The San Salvacion Army should be arriving soon."

"Okay." You nod. You also see Charlotte picking up Falynn in a big bear hug.

"Hey, anybody else hear that?" Charlotte frowns, Falynn still squirming in her grasp.

"Vehicle engines." Lucina confirms. Not one of ours.

With that, all of you take cover, ready to take one whatever comes your way. You see an armored car and a pickup truck pull into the lot. However, they were rebels. You could clearly see the rest of Wraith team manning the vehicles.

"Holy shit, you guys are still alive!" Bragg laughs, leaping out the back of the pickup. "What the hell have you guys been doing?"

"Trying to not get shot." MK grumbles. "What have you guys been up to."

"Funny story actually-"

"Quiet down, Wraiths." Simo says as he hops out of the armored car. First things first, we need to figure out what the hell's going on, what we should do, what the hell is in that truck, and who the hell this old guy here is."

"Interesting team you've got here, Lucas." Jack muses. "I think I like them."
