You are a waifu. A character only created to be a romantic interest to the protagonist. Things are going better for the household. You still haven't gotten autonomous, but Konoko is happy now. Your plot has moved forward, and outside of some hiccups, things are going well.

Aside from a ghost from a past story that you can't remember that has stated his goal to be the destruction of this current plot. But you stymied his attempt, and then gave Konoko a boost enough to insure her immortality in Anon-kun's eyes.

Yes. Things are going well.

So why can't you sleep? You're staring up at the ceiling, in your room. Anon is going through a training montage in the garden, trying to learn kung fu necromancy or some stupid shit like that. Are you supposed to have an event with him? Unlikely, with how he feels about you at the moment. Konoko was tired, and asked you to leave her alone for plot. Riritu enigmatically disappeared, in her whorish way. So, you went to your room, expecting things to pick up in the morning.

Yet here you were, staring up at the ceiling on your bed.

Nothing interesting in the ceiling. Outside, you heard Anon-kun striving and grunting, slapping the ground. God, you hoped he wouldn't learn necromancy. That would be so stupid. If he hoped you'd come over there, he wasn't showing it. You knew that Anon and subtlety went together like an elephant and ballet.

You glance out the window. Bright for night- a full moon. Finally, impatiently you throw off the sheets and stand up, your mind running through possibilities. Diner with Deadoko? Meeting Leopold? Meeting the Antagonist? Some retarded confession with Anon? Gah, WHAT?

>Your move.

Whatever. You're still not technically your own character, so you couldn't set the pace for your own plot. With a sigh, you get up to find Cringer looking at you with shining eyes from the foot of your bed. The beast climbs up you purring, and takes its place on your shoulder. All is well with the world. Wait, what gender is Cringer? Guess it doesn't matter to the plot.

You grab your silly hat as you slide the door to the side and look around. Anon's panting, on hands and knees, sweating. From the lack of zombies or skeletons, you're guessing he's being unsuccessful, "This is bullshit," You hear, "If he can do it...Why can't I? Fucking bullshit. God damn it. And. And she..."

He didn't understand pacing at all. Now was not the time for the hero's self doubting crisis. You're not looking forward to tomorrow.

Although, this might be a sign. You glance for Konoko's room. Her door is open just a crack. If this keeps up, Konoko could be the protagonist. With Anon's performance, he deserved it.

You could take advantage of this.

>OPPORTUNITY: Harvest quick waifu points from Anon with an upbeat talk. Or, spend 0.10 waifu points to influence things worse for Anon. 3 1d100 rolls required. May affect world alignment.

You can see crows on the roof, watching Anon curiously and- yep, there he is. Your douchebag villain Exodium. Mesh shirt and trenchcoat, balanced on the top of the roof, looking at Anon with some amusement. Probably here to give some sort of 'remember what you are,' speech for your benefit. Or give Anon a chance to defend you with you watching him unknowing. Drawing by the numbers plot.

Though Anon still hadn't noticed him. You could probably walk past this scene entirely, if you didn't want to interfere. You're sure Leopold would be lurking nearby, out of sight.

>Your move.

Have douche-ium come in and whack Anon around with undead critters, then come in to cheer him on and give him a "there are some thngs you can't do but you have your own skills" etc.
>>
>>27613211
What if this was a Start of Darkness for Anon? We try to give him a pep talk, get a few points, and then spend them to have Exodium show up and give a 'Join me and unlock your potential or forever be overshadowed by the girls/dogs/whatever.' speech. Maybe work in some neutered jokes. Anon doesn't have to fall for it NOW, but it'll set the stage for him to fall later.

It helps the alignment stay about where it is, since having a Heel Face Turn is a standard plot twist that's not crazy dark. Plus it'll make Konoko a full protagonist and boost us up to solid 'teammate' rank.

Leopold and Deadoko probably aren't going to like it...but if we can find a way to smash them into each other, since I think Leopold was the one who caused Deadoko's status as an Uncharacter, that could be a solution to the problem.
>>
>>27613321
I'd be fine with that, but it seems everybody else would rather harvest points. So, could we maybe do that and dissuade him from trying to learn necromancy? You know, what with it being totally idiotic.

>>
>>27614759
"Wow anon-kun, you're really trying hard at necromancy! That's only of the harder schools of magic. That's because necromancy is manipulating the transitory states of life and death, finely tuning energy to exist at the border of life and death. To be able to do it properly, you more or less have to exist at a state of dead, but not dead. Not in between, but both at the same time.

Sorry, that's all I know. You basically have to learn it from someone else, and anybody that's good at it is really screwed up, very much including you-know-who. I know you want to raise fire breathing t-rexes, but you gotta remember you're the hero here, the good guy. Good guys don't to around raising corpses, and definitely not the fire breathing t-rexes.
>>
You glance up. The Jack of Dicks up above hasn't noticed your presence yet. Anon is sulking too hard to notice.

...Let's just rub some salt in the wound, then.

>0.10 waifu points spent! 0.36+0.40 waifu points remaining!

Your antagonist suddenly gets a bold notion in his head. With a twisted smirk, he steps forward off of the roof, and lands silently in front of Anon. Anon reacts as expected, and jumps up immediately. Now that's closer though, you can see Knight Exodium has bandages covering the left side of his face. Man, you hope you didn't give him a cool scar.

"Wha- hey, what are you doing here?" Anon gets in to a fighting pose, "You wanna get your ass kicked again?"
"Again?" Knight Exodium chuckles, "You didn't touch me at all, you squeaking maggot," You don't think maggots can squeak. Bad mental image at any rate.
"Yeah well...You're just...Fuck you!" Anon shouts finally, performing a jump kick. Your antagonist melts in to shadow around Anon-kun, who barely manages to recover, "Wait, what?" He glances behind himself- and gets a face full of steel.

With a staggered cry, Anon tumbles to the ground, blood gushing from his nose. Your antagonist steps forward, shaking his head.
"What, should I call the girls for help then?"
"You leab dem oudda dis!" Anon shouts through blood and snot, scrambling to his feet, "I dwore do prodecd dem!"
"Really?" Your antagonist kicks high up in the air, bringing the heel of his metal boot on the back of Anon's head with a crack, sending him back down to the ground, "I was thinking they would have to protect you."

You inspect your nails and occasionally glance up to the fight. Cringer gives a low meow of sympathy, watching the fight. The antagonist is just kicking Anon's ass something fierce. And, you note with a frown, not using his hands the whole time. Right, the soccer theme. Guess the guy really did stick with the idea of football being the ultimate warrior's sport.
>>
"Face it!" A savage headbutt sends Anon twirling down in an arc of blood and tears, "You're nothing without them! Your greatest accomplishment was being toilet trained- you've learned nothing, do nothing, and are nothing!" Another kick to Anon's side. He's not getting up now, "You thought you could stand against our order? Look at you! You can't even stand up right now!"

Your nails have passed inspection. Anon's in the fetal position, at the base of a tree. No one else has done anything. Your time to act.

You give a high pitched scream, and run in to the garden. Both parties look up at you.

"Leave him alone!" You shout, running elbows out with wrists facing up, "You, you, you cruel man!"

"Tch!" Knight Exodium turns to you, a leer settling across his face, "The dog finally shows up to protect her master."
"Bli...Bliblo blan..." Anon murmurs from below you. Man, he got the SHIT kicked out of him. You leap between the prone Anon, and your antagonist, and put out your arms.
"Stop, stop it! You shouldn't be doing this! He never did anything to you!"
"You're right," Knight Exodium looks away from you, smiling wickedly, "And that's exactly why I hate him! Look at him!" He points past you, to Anon's mashed face, "He's weak! He thinks, just because he holds on to his so called 'justice,' that he should be given respect! To think...He would try to master ki, while being so pathetic, hah!" Your antagonist settles a hand on your neck, making you flinch, "You want this, don't you? This power?" He's still talking to Anon, who's trying, still, to stand up.

You feel yourself get lifted by the neck, and do the usual gasping, kicking routine. This guy looooves to talk. You start thinking about what would be an appropriately ironic death for him. He smirks at you behind his bandages, and reaches up with his other hand to caress your cheek. Ewww, his hands are all sweaty.
>>
"You see? This is the proper order of things. You're unwilling to do what it takes- so everything of yours, is mine. How can you hope to protect everything, if you can't protect your desires?" He drags you closer.

Then, Cringer strikes.

"Gngh! Damn it!" Knight Exodium stumbles back, dropping you, batting at Cringer. You cough, and then turn to Anon.

"Anon! Are you alright?" Anon is staring down. Utterly depressed. Good. Neon Genesis Evangelion this ain't, if you get him past the despair event horizon, he won't do jack.

You glance at Konoko's room. Through the crack in the door, you see Konoko smiling. She steps away from the door, deeper inside. Well, she clearly approves of this course, you guess.

"Furred beast!" Shouts your antagonist, finally throwing Cringer to the side. Cringer flies end over end, yowling until he's cut off by landing in some bushes. He'll be out for a bit, "I'll make you in to a pair of mittens!" Exodium turns to look at you, "And as for YOU-"

Konoko is taking her sweet time. This'd be a perfect opportunity for her to jump in, and kick Exodium's ass. Would settle things pretty well for her protagonist shot.

On the other hand...Your antagonist is playing rough. Real rough. You frown, rub your neck. You didn't plan on that. You could probably force him to fuck off with an excuse. This is weird.

And Anon's just curled up in the dirt, whispering something to himself. He's got a manic look in his black eye.

If you push it- things might start going bad.

>If you want to make your antagonist fuck off on his own, spend 0.01 waifu points.

>1. Familiar Empowerment: Cringer can be granted Ki to go in to BATTLE MODE. About the size of a tiger, claws sharp enough to tear steel, and strong enough to chuck cars, angry and ever loyal. Has a time limit of two minutes for no good reason. Empowering pet in such a fashion will exhaust you for a scene. If things get too grimdark though, it might be goaded to go out of control.

>2. Astral Projection: Working off of ranged Ki transmission, you can leave your body behind and go ghost mode. Doesn't mean much right now, but you can see where your ghost goes, and interact the environment slightly- undoing latches, making bottles tip over, that kind of thing. If someone with Ki senses senses you though, you can get fucked up. Can be maintained as long as the body is healthy. Any damage to the body yanks you back immediately.

>3. Ki Shield: Typical energy barrier. Can resist bullets, punches, push people away, that kind of stuff. Can only be held up for about twenty minutes, or when a narratively stronger character hits it to show off his strength, whichever comes first. Can only be done once per scene.

we should start building ourself up actually, if we can do a bit of refluffing

We can already do ranged Ki buffs, if we get Familiar Empowerment now, that's like sending a ki boost to our cat

Then we'd just need to do a scene with Konoko where we teach her about ki strikes and be all mysterious about just how good we are by refusing to actually do a ki strike except for one narratively overpowered ki strike in the beginning

Then when the moment is right "You know, I've been buffing my friends this whole time, so that they wouldn't get hurt. But now I know that the surest way to keep them safe, is to do this myself." And enter Ki Mode (name subject to change) where we overflow with fightan power and our hair turns black or some shit so we can kick ass when the world alignment inevitably drops

Could possibly work, actually. If we can create barriers that can hold our weight, we can both use the armor as protection and to 'push' ourselves around by moving the barriers around us, essentially allowing us to fly and dodge things really well.

Your antagonist lashes out with a kick, sweeping in low to catch you in the chin- when a flash of light and sparks cause him to stumble back.

"What in the-" Knight Exodium looks up with a sneer, "Impossible! The seals-"

Oooh, seals? You're guaranteed some power ups there- but that can wait for later. You thrust out your hands, straining your fingers against the invisible firmament under reality, the pulsing energy of the world beneath the world, or something. You're not quite clear on the details, but when you cross your arms again, a great blue scintillating light in the shape of a hexagon forms in front of you as if torn from the air, crackling, twitching lines of bright white that hurt to look at stretching from your fingers to the corners of the shield. It burns with light, and you can feel wind whipping around it, causing the grass to sway manically. It's about your size- the biggest flaw being you have to cross your arms uncomfortably. Eh, you'll fix that next time. Anon-kun and the antagonist alike stare, open mouthed at this advanced ki flow.

Shit, you're supposed to say something here. Uhhhh...

"Barrier form! Biot-Savart Law!" Sure, that sounds good. The antagonist steps back, eyes widening even further.
"Biot-Savart...So it's true...Keh!" He smiles leaning in against the power, "This is starting to get fun!"

You feel something grab the back of your leg. You spare a glance back. It's Anon.
"Rehlm...Rehml muh..." He's trying to say something. You frown. He got hurt real bad, real quick, actually.

>>
Enunciation is important Anon-kun.
"Just hold on, Anon-kun! You saved me after all, when we first met," You give a smile, "Allow me to return the favor!"
"URRRYAAAAAA!" Your antagonist, clearly upset that all eyes weren't on him for once leaps for you, with a jump kick. You gasp, and slide back a bit from the force- but it holds. Your antagonist bounces back, smoke rising from his greaves. Then he strikes again, and you bounce back. Hah- weak. Enough time for Konoko to jump in.

And she appears- slamming the door open wow what is she wearing. She's got a some kind of blue cape and floral print onesie swimsuit with huge shoulders, and the upper half of her face covered by some kind of...It looks like a tiki mask. Just, like she split a bucket in half, punched out eyeholes, painted it wait, put flowers at the top, and strapped it to her face. Oh, and strapped sandals. Christ, the douche bag in the mesh shirt looked like he had better fashion sense.

"Anon-kun! Miko-chan! I've come to help!" The antagonist looks up at that, cocks an eyebrow. It's really hard to keep your focus with her dressed up that badly, "You, Knight Exodium! You coward, striking at my friends?" She flips forward in front of you- wow, when'd she learn to jump that hella high? "Your true fight is with me!"

Anon gasps something behind you. God, he got the SHIT kicked out of him apparently.
"Muhh...Mo..."

"Konoko! Thank goodness you're here!" You shout, "I could only keep this up for so long."
"No problem, Miko-chan," She looks back and gives a wink and a salute, "You take Anon and get him out of here!"

Wait, you wanted to kick some ass too. Well, you guess it's more protagonist-y if she did all the work herself in this case. But things feel like they're going too fast. Too quickly.

I wonder if I can turn the Ki drain around. Instead of just a negative Ki drain, what if we went all in? Pour so much in that Anon comes out a different person, a mix of him and Miko? Like pouring milk into coffee, impossible to separate, and changed?
>>
"Gotcha Konoko! Though, uh," You snicker, as you drop the shield, and do a quick few dance moves- just long enough to separate far enough to get Konoko a boost, "I think we'll need to work on the outfit."
"Wha-what is this?" The Knight Exodium crouches low, putting out his hands in a combat position, "Some kind of joke?"
"Yeah, I wouldn't be talking either," You shiver as you feel your consciousness realign again, "Who dressed you, Nomura?"
"Get Anon out of here!" Konoko turns to you, shouting. Immediately, your antagonist darts low, bringing up his foot for an attack from below which probably wouldn't be legitimately taught by anyone ever. You dash forward, drawing your arms across each other again, forming a shield, interposing yourself between him and Konoko.

"Damn it, you BITCH!" He shouts, rolling back out of reach. You run for him, barrier still up, and he instinctively raises his hands to block- but you go for the left, pivot on your heel, and slam the barrier in to his back towards Konoko. He makes a satisfying squawk, before he receives a bicycle kick to the face from Konoko, sending him and his bandages flying.

"Miko..." Konoko growls, stepping forward as the antagonist admirably jumps back to his feet, feeling his face in pain. You shrug, let the shield drop- man, that was pretty cool.
"Ah, Konoko-chan, I was just trying to help!"
"Help Anon-Kun!" Konoko ducks beneath a poorly executed kick, but she's still glaring at you.

You give a small smile. Yeah, this shield thing could be pretty cool.

>Character arc update- 18%!

"Mmmmo!" Anon's trying to stagger up, shouting between the mash that used to be his teeth. You wince, and grab him, slinging him over your shoulder.
"Hey, hey, Anon-kun!" You start to drag him off, "We don't want you getting hurt!"

He looks at you. His mismatched eyes are filled with horror. His pupils are pinpricks, shaking. He's raising the arm not over your should. Reaching for you.

"Anon-kun, don't worry," You whisper, dragging him off. You jerk your head at Cringer in the bushes- and see him slowly limping towards you. Crap, struck with a momentary pet injury. He would be out of it for a while, "You'll be safe," Man he's heavy. You drag him towards the veranda, heading for his room. Behind you, you hear Konoko shouting something about how much more satisfying it is to beat up Exodium since he actually had an ass to kick rather than the skeletons.

"Mih-miuh, muhh," Anon continues to slur. His hand is getting closer to your face.
"Anon-kun, stop it, alright? We'll get you fixed soon, you know?" You reach quickly, firmly but gently pushing his hand away.
"Can't," Anon swallows looks away, before looking back at you, "Crant-"
"Anon-" You've just managed to get to the veranda, before he grabs at you again.

This time, he wraps his hand around your mouth before you can bat his hand away. He can't be-

You're not paralyzed. A thought drifts in to your mind, unbidden. Once, you were trying to win a button mashing game. Some sort of goofy slice of life maybe, who knows. You ended up wrecking it anyway. But, at any rate, you found that if you just directly mashed on the button, you could never win. But if you held your arm above it, and tensed your arm juuuussst so, you got a lot more hits every second.

You feel that, across the whole of your body. That terrible, tense feeling- quivering, your muscles taut with pain, vibrating but unable to do anything else. And then the cold seeps in, starting from the toes- and you can't do anything. This douchebag.
>>
You see an aura like a black light swelling around him- his bruises fading, his blood working back in to his body, cuts sealing, his eyes regaining their clarity, and he shifts his weight off of you. And you hear things.
"I can't lose."
"It's not fair."
"How could this happen?"
"I'm sorry."
"It's not my fault."
"That should not have happened."
"Not again."
"I thought I could be a hero."
"Must this be my dark destiny?"
"Just a bit longer- that's all I need."
"Something's not right."
"I swear I'll make it up to you."

All the generic, whiny cliches. He couldn't stand to lose one fight? Konoko was right. Anon was afraid of losing his spot as the protagonist. And would hurt you to keep it. You'd glare at him, but right now, you can't do much. You could take a gamble though.

You could try to do what your antagonist did to Konoko back at the beginning. 'Realize' the power to fuck with his head. But you'd have to go all in- and hope Anon didn't sense you and 'accidentally' end you.

Like dragging a boulder up a hill, you try to get Konoko in to your vision. Couldn't she see this? Too busy enjoying giving a beat down to Exodium, you guess. And there's poor Cringer, dragging himself closer, pitifully mewing. Trying to climb up the gap to the porch.

So. Down to you then.

You won't die. Anon's a dick of the highest grade, but you definitely aren't going to die. You shiver, as he drains the last. You see that he's looking away, crying. He should be saving those tears for later.

A few final spasms, and then he relents, letting go of you- you fall limp and he catches you by the shoulders, the obnoxious shit.
"I'm sorry!" He shouts, manically, "I, I need to do this! To help Konoko-chan! I-" He glances up in fear, as you see Exodium slide across the garden from a well placed kick from Konoko, "I need to go!"

"Do you feel like a hero?" You whisper. You're at the edge of consciousness now- feel drained. Cringer limps over. Anon gives a confused, and fearful glance to you, then runs at Exodium, glowing like a shitty rave party.

"JUSTICE!" He shouts, jumping for Exodium. Exodium looks up in horror as Anon brings a glowing fist to his face, sending him spinning to the ground. Konoko stops in mid assault- halting, and staring at Anon. She tries desperately to hide a grin on her face, then glances at you. She puts on a look of worry.

"I won't let anyone be hurt! No one can be hurt! I'll protect everyone!" Anon swings Exodium in to a pillar, causing it to crack. The already pummeled Exodium gasps, as Anon keeps him pinned to the wood with one hand, sending the other jack hammering in to his face, over and over.
"Anon!" Konoko shouts, walking toward him.
"You made me do this!" Anon shouts at Exodium, whose face is kind of resembling a bean bag chair at this point, spraying teeth and blood. His voice is breaking, "This is the strength of justice!"

Konoko looks away, stifling a giggle. Meanwhile, Cringer's chewing your finger again. God damn cat. You're barely keeping your eyes open. Christ, that bastard drained you but good.

"Anon!" Konoko shouts, and Anon looks back. And, with an after thought, drops Exodium. Exodium crumples up.

"Miko-chan is practically unconcious, Anon-kun," She steps forward, "What did you do?"

"I, well-" Anon looks to you, then to Konoko, and shrugs, hands covered in blood, "Well, I, I guess I have to tell you some time- I, uh, well, I...I didn't mean to! It's just my aur-"
"You've been practicing dark arts," Konoko's voice drops a register, "Haven't you."

"Wha- what? No!" Anon raises his hands, shaking his head, "No no no no no! I didn't mean anything!"
"I overheard you," Konoko shakes her head sadly, looking up and away from Anon to hide her smile, "You...I didn't believe it, you were talking about raising the dead!"
"What? No, just, just making skeletons! There's nothing wrong with skeletons!"

Your ears are beginning to hurt from all the exclamation points, but you manage to scoot to the wall to rest against it, enjoying the show.

"Nothing wrong?" Konoko looks to Anon, bewildered, "Nothing wrong with tearing the dead from their rest into slavery?"
"I'm not, like, binding spirits or anything, I mean, come on. Skeletons could be helpful!" Anon waves his hands in frustration, "They could, like, farm for us and-"
"And you hurt Miko-chan!" Konoko shouts, "What is wrong with you, Anon? How could you?"
"I said-"
"Look at her!" Konoko points to you, "Look at what you did!"
"It's just-" Anon's face screws up. He can't say it, but you know why. 'I didn't want to get showed up by everyone else.' You wish you had popcorn.
"No, Anon," Konoko shakes her head, "You've gone too far."
"But- Konoko! Wait," He looks to you, desperation in his eyes, "Miko-chan! Miko-chan, tell her, tell her that you were just healing me! Please!"
"Miko-chan," Konoko turns to you, "Don't lie for him."

The final nail in Anon-kun's coffin waits for your hammer.

>>
Falling like a paladin. You shut your eyes and turn away.

The silence damns him more than anything you could say.

"Miko-chan!" You hear him step forward, "Miko-chan, please, I'm begging you-"

You hear a slap. Hard. Not nearly so hard as to send him comically flying, but hard enough you end up flinching despite yourself. Which makes it all the more bitter and lasting.

"Get out of my house."
"Konoko...?"

>World alignment down to -1.
>Anon-kun is no longer the protagonist.

"I said get out! If you have an ounce of decency within you, Anon, leave this place!"
"You...You called me Anon...?" You hear a noise like tearing paper, like a vacuum sucking up a penny, like heavy furniture being pushed on hardwood floors. An unpleasant, and damaging noise.

>Konoko is now the protagonist.

"Get out, I will force you out," You glance up, to see Konoko, fists on her hips. She suddenly seems taller. Anon is crouched, looking like a lowly and beat dog. He glances between you and Konoko, before he hangs his head in shame, walking for the door. He's staring about, lost and confused. Like a man sleep walking. His eyes focus on you for a moment, and he opens his mouth to say something, but Konoko shouts again, "Out!"

His jaw shuts, and he looks away from you, before passing on by. You hear a door open, and then shut.

Silence in the garden for a little bit. Aside from Knight Exodium groaning in the ruins of what was once his dignity. Konoko glances back to Exodium, then looks around the garden- before looking back to you, a smile on her face.

"Nice work. God, I didn't think it would work- but he did the dumbest thing possible, heheheh," She smiles and looks up to the stars, and shakes her hands upward, "I'm the fucking hero now!" She looks down to you, and somehow her smile gets wider, "And I could not have done it without you."

Then she looks over to your antagonist.

"He's yours, right?"

You get up shaky legs, and clasp your hands together, "Ohhhh, Konoko-chan, I'm so glad yo-"
"Don't worry about it, Miko-chan, I'm not Anon-kun," Konoko chuckles, looking at your antagonist, "But seriously, aren't we going to do something about him?"

"Er, yeah," You teeter over, feeling poorly, "I was just going to see if I can get him back up to shape."
"The guy that tried to mind control me?" Konoko asks, shocked."
"...Well, yeah, we're done to negative one here, I don't want to go much lower."
"He's yours, right?"

You raise an eyebrow, "Yesss?"

Konoko waves her hand, "Well, the narrative actually got hurt back there- so let's not be so hasty. You're probably still really tired, right?"

"True," Cringer meanwhile mews pathetically behind you. You grab him, and pick him up. All three of Cringer's eyes are focused on Konoko.
"So, you mind if I take care of him?" Konoko smiles happily, "I'm still fresh as a daisy. I'll just take him to our basement."
"We have a basement?"
Konoko snaps her finger, and jerks a thumb to another part of the house. Big door off to the side of Konoko's room, with a large padlock on it.

"We do now."
"Oh, great, well," You put Cringer on your shoulder and step forward, arms outstretched to Konoko, "I'm real happy about what happened, Konoko-chan- I was so scared."

You wrap around Konoko, despite her ridiculous outfit. She's still warm from her exertions. She chuckles, as she strokes your hair.
"Hey, hey, don't worry about it. If you hadn't told me the possibility, I wouldn't have gone for it."

She absentmindedly pats your head.

"Course...I'm not in to girls."

"Oh...You can't..." The ellipses were coming back. Hard. Your vision is blurring.
"I didn't want to dip this low," Konoko idly says, "It's just dreadful what Anon did to you. I mean- don't take this personally? But I'm not in to the handicapped."

>Konoko withdraws from the deal.
>Your narrative pool is now 0.36.

"...Bitch," You growl, grabbing your forehead, "You can't be..." You immediately, reflexively try to draw up a shield-
"Poor dear is exhausted," Konoko says, her eyes flat and emotionless, "He certainly took your ki something fierce, hm?"
"I...I...HELPED YOU!" You shout, regaining your vigor for a bit, but sending you to your knees.

"Yes, and I am grateful for your help, 'Miko-chan,' in all of its glory," Konoko steps further away from you, as Cringer in your grasp makes yelping mews, "But you're unstable. How long until you stabbed me in the back?"
"I...Never..."
"Really?" Konoko shakes her head, "You were trying to main yourself just moments ago. Our first interaction brought this dick in to fuck with my head," She waves to passed out Exodium, "And to be honest?" Her lips split, and you see her shining teeth, "I find you repulsive. Who you really are. I know you."
"...I helped you..." You try to focus. Cringer is chewing on your fingers fervently.
"You did. That's why I won't kill you," Konoko puts on a sympathetic look, "Just set you to the side. Let you fade away, until you're no longer sentient. Give you to the gnaw. This shit's going otome. No room for the both of us."

"Oh for fuck's sake, at least be original!" You shout. You're on the edge of consciousness. This bitch was railroading, HARD.

"Sure it is," She waves to herself, "Spunky girl joins all male soccer team to fight ghosts on school grounds. Has to deal with angsty ex-boyfriend, and tragic friend that she has to take care of in the basement," She considers, "Maybe, when I meet my one true man, or Hell, girl- let's stay open here- you can tragically die at Anon-kun's insane hands. Though, and this might just be the Stockholm Syndrome talking, I kinda...Y'know, cared for him," Konoko wrings her hands together then shakes her head, "But whatever, I think it's a real winner of a plot! Course," She glances at Exodium, "I have to get rid of THIS retarded side plot."

"You-"
"You're the only one in the way of my paradise, Miko-chan," Konoko shakes her head, "The fly in the soup."
"Leopold- Deadoko-"
"A minor character, bound to your dickbag here who I can get rid of. And the next, an uncharacter. What's she going to do, give me spooky dreams? OOooOOOooo," Konoko twiddles her fingers, "Call the Mystery van! Scoobs on the case!"
"There are...Others..."
"And I'll deal with them in time," Konoko steps closer, and as she steps closer you feel your arms give way dramatically. Cringer crawls out from under you, setting himself in between you and Konoko, "For now though- you're the only one I've seen that's plotted against anybody. Goodbye Miko," Konoko shakes her head sadly, "Perhaps- in another life, we could be friends again. I'd like that."

She draws her foot back. Cringer raises a paw valiantly.

It comes down in a blur, and everything goes dark.

>World Alignment -2.
>Out of protagonist's sight.

>>
>>27619845

I TOTALLY DID

No really, I was against making alliances in the first goddamn place.
>>
>>27619881

Yeah. We could conceivably win as an antagonist, given that Konoko is technically a villain protagonist, but I'd rather not go grey-and-black morality.

Worse yet, this gets turned into cringe comedy like Dokuro.
>>
You have a terrible habit of thinking in metaphors, but right now, you indulge. Your hate is molten steel. Konoko's vengeance a mold. Your will a hammer. Her face the anvil. Time to make a blade.

You focus- you've got no income right now, no way to get any more power. But wait- heh. A callback. That'll make it cheap.

"Nya~" You hear it behind you. You glance up, crane your head over to the window- well, there's Cringer's three glittering eyes. And there's Riritu. She's the one making the cat noise. Man, you guess you hit her with the stupid bat pretty hard. Cringer hops down, and you see the shine of stainless steel in the moonlight. Tough kitten.

You hear it scrape along the concrete ground closer and closer to you. Man. Konoko was pretty stupid to leave your kitten alive.

"Miko-chan!" Hisses Riritu from behind you. Right, the whore, you crane back to look at her, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, you know. Just hanging around," You shake your arms in frustration on the pipe, "What do you think I'm doing? I got tied up!"
"Ohhh..." Riritu looks away, then looks back to you curiously, "Is that why Anon-kun left?"

Oh CHRIST, you didn't want to get in to this with her right now. 'I'm sorry Riritu, the douchebag went upstate to a big farm of douchebags where he could douche around with all his friends.'
"I'll tell you in a bit, do you mind getting a ladder or something? Wait, where's Konoko?"
"Ohhh," Riritu brightens at that, "There was a talent agent that came by! He saw her playing and decided to take her out to eat to discuss her future!" She leans in conspiratorially, and whispers, "And he was VERY handsome! Cute glasses <3!"

So, you figure she'll be trying to bring the World Alignment up with cute shenanigans in a fancy restaurant. God, Cringer, hurry up! The scraping finally gets close enough, and you hear the knife fall with a clatter. Great. You force your ropes against the knife, sawing away. Too easy. What to do next...

>Your move.
>>
What's our goal again? Just independence and survival? Or become protagonist (and all its pro's and con's)? Or do we just now want to see the world (alignment) burn?
>>
Shit all those "unknown is attempting to influence the narrative" means Konoko was the one doing it
She might also have influenced Riritu to be a stupid whore
>>
>>27619886
I don't know, she's better at us at short-term ruthlessness, but we're much, MUCH smarter than her, though more sentimental.

She's better at the grimdark game because she's an impatient bitch, the only way to beat her is to do it our way, like how we beat Anon-kun.
>>
>>27619837
No...no not an Agent 47 suit.

Because this summer, we are going to...

Kill Konoko.
>>
>>27619865
Personality inversion, extreme threat to subject detected.

Power unlocked: Force blade. Able to fold force fields into an invisible sword of force fields

But first, we need a suit...
>>
>>27619903
Let's try to find where Exodium is. Then, from there, try to hunt down Leopold.
>>
>>27619912
Shit, I didn't even think of that.

Wasn't Konoko in red when we first met her?

Going full fucking Bride on her is going to feel so good. Get the bike, get the knife (can we turn it into a sword via POWER OF KI?), duel Lucy Liu on the rooftop in the snow.

Eat her heart, wear her skin. We protagonist now.

Full credit, Anon. Twenty-five points to Gryffindor.
>>
>>27619903
Hm. Can we use our vaguely defined healing powers on Lilith, thereby removing her competence blocks?
>>
>>27619931
This
>>
>>27619931
70% sure he's the talent agent.
>>
>>27619936
Regrettably, you can't metaheal someone. But I suppose you could work narrative moments for her to display competence.

Or spend points.
>>
>>27619903
Free the antagonist.

Have our inner "kill everyone" awaken.

It's time.
>>
>>27619931
I think we might also need Anon-kun.

If he isn't sentient, we might be able to mold him into our pawn through character development.

If he is, we might at least learn some things.
>>
>>27619900
>We could conceivably win as an antagonist, given that Konoko is technically a villain protagonist, but I'd rather not go grey-and-black morality.
We have at least one meta way of culling her from the narrative - Deadoko. If Leopold was the one to displace Deadoko, we have two.

You are correct that neither actually requires us to go black and blacker though, and raising alignment could act as a shield.

I think this might a good killbill esque sense of lethality while still retaining our old costume. Plus it has Konoko's shitty little tiki mask
>>
I say that we stay on target to what we want. We want a Good End for *us*.

Getting revenge risks keeping the World Tendency in the negative -- and by that point, you just start suffering.

We just got stabbed in the back. And it sucks. And we're really fucking angry. But -- we shouldn't decide to monofocus on revenge to the point where we screw the world up.
>>
>>27619905
"I like to think of myself as a teacher. And Konoko, you're in sore need of a few lessons."

Would it be possible to shift into an antagonistic spot and draw narrative points from wrecking the protagonist's (Konoko's) shit?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHq-v4HJVqE
>>
>>27619955

>>
>>27619955
We could get the ball rolling on some sort of ultra-deep under cover thing from the lab.

Maybe she's like Kimura from X-23's story?

>I was only pretending to be retarded
>>
>>27619955
Points are at a premium right now.

But it wouldn't hurt to take her under our wing, for now.

>Riritu joins the party

Right now what we really need to do is find some way to survive without a source of points. Leopold seems to know how to do this, although it seems to have some risks (if we note the red lines that cracked around on his face as a sign of the side-effects his methods have).
>>
>>27619971
so we jump her right after she shifts alignment up to -1
>>
>>27619995

I'd prefer to wait till 0. At that point, its still serious and thus revenge is possible -- and getting revenge wouldn't/shouldn't drop us back down to -2 if we're at 0.
>>
>>27619985
>>27619982
>>27619966
Well, with that narrative justification, you'd be looking at 0.10. Regrettably, she's Anon-kun's character- so you'd have to overcome those penalties.
>>
>>27619903
Since its night, and we have a knife, and the world alignment is -2, lets just go and stab her? Chalk it up to mysterious past experiences or something.
>>
>>27619903
Go to Deadoko
We take that power now and we use it to turn Riritu into a real succubus, then we use her to distract Konoko until we cut that bitches heart out
>>
>>27619960
Hell no.

That's exactly what Konoko would do in our shoes.

Just because she tricked us doesn't mean she's smarter than us and her way is better.

It just means we let our guard down.

We need to wisen up and create a grand turnabout, leaving us on top without the story being on fire.
>>
>>27620009
I'm willing to front the cost. We need a new #2.
>>
>>27620009
No, too expensive.
>>
>>27620009
What if the justification was that Anon's leech nature was sapping away her intelligence because her magic has her mind very in-tune with her ki?
>>
>>27620028
Konoko really did almost nothing to get herself to the protagonist spot, it was nearly all us.

She should've remembered that.
>>
>>27620032
And then Riritu backstabs us.
>>
>>27620009
>>27620032
Nah. We can't be too reckless with our points. Use them when we need to.

For now, let's try to keep her around as an assistant.
>>
>>27619976
Yes- but only if Konoko acknowledges you as an antagonist.

Earlier, Riritu had a chance to go antagonistic, but you ably neutralized that idea.

You'd have to bring the mojo- or force Konoko to acknowledge you as an antagonist lest the narrative tear. As it is, you're quite aware she'd be able to dismiss anything as you just being a crazy girl with a grudge, a tragic little slice of commentary on mental health.
>>
>>27620039
Oh goddamn Anon, you'se a goddamn smartie.
>>
>>27619995
>>27620008
Remember we have Deadoko for a possible kill, regardless of alignment. Konoko appears to have forgotten that there was someone around who managed a kill while in positive (or it was her), so she won't be expecting danger once she reaches positive.

>>27620009
Pass on it then, we need the points more.
>>
>>27620032
No more alliances unless we are in the position of complete power in the relationship.
>>
>>27620039
Oh, that's an idea. She's some kind of demon, so her everything would depend on her ki.
>>
>>27620048
Exactly.

She only knows one move, I mean she tried to pull this like at least three times in the past.

Just because it eventually paid off doesn't mean it's a good idea.
>>
>>27620039
Ooohh, that's good.

0.05 points then. And the option remains open, and can be further cheapened via foreshadowing.

>>
>>27620074
Hmm. Maybe we can rub our head and have a sudden memory/flashback appear?

Riritu doing something...high-concept. Smart. Thoughtful, where she thought she was out a sight. Just a glance, but enough to know what we saw...
>>
>>27620096
Perhaps we'll need to make a pact with her first.
>>
>>27620074
Make that suggesting to her, and then leave so we can find Leopold.
>>
>>27620074
She seemed at least somewhat and well read, but the longer she stayed around anon, the stupider she got, eventually bringing fried chicken to the ritual and getting clutzier in his presence.
>>
>>27620113
So blaming it on Anon.

Maybe we can play it off as the reason she stuck around him despite it making her stupid was because his aura was literally intoxicating.

She effectively gets drunk from being around him.
>>
>>27620113

Could be that she botched the ritual and that was when it finally rolled over -- she lost more energy (and thus intelligence) with that action.
>>
>>27620137
Also, while Konoko might not respect us as an Antagonist, she might be less inclined to ignore Lilith.
>>
>>27620074
She claimed to be Lilith, the demon. She even did the whole Louis Cyphre thing. So naturally, since she's a demon, shes a type of spirit.

Being around Anon was literally killing her piece by piece.
>>
>>27620153
So, we become antagonist boss with Lilith as a minion?
>>
>>27620140
Well, we might be able to play it off as her evil energy was taken in by Anon, since he started getting interesting in evil shit after the botched ritual. Now that he's neutralized her power has returned.
>>
>>27620153
She's impatient and has a short fuse. All we have to do is piss her off enough and she'll say or do something that'll make the narrative recognize us as her antagonist. Or, at the very least rival.
>>
>>27620172
and our narrative role is secured
>>
>>27620172
Or we become Liliths Dragon.

Or go the whole hog and bring Lucifer into things.
>>
>>27620172
With Lilith as our face, though she is our Dragon, I guess?
>>
>>27620172
We could maybe get Exodius too. He seems like the kind of character that would get snappy when we save him, but join us if we tell him off good enough.
>>
Making Lilith smarter is good. Making her TOO smart is not.
So, let's unfuck her, but not so much she decides to fuck with us.
>>
Guys, do you think we could go all "onii-chan! My memory has returned" with Exodium?
>>
When she took away the waifu points she was lending us, that gave me an idea about returning the favor.

Can we play it as all the power boosts we've given her were only temporary, or can be rescinded?

We've been moving so fast that we might be able to say it only lasts a day before wearing off, with interest.
>>
>>27620172
That would mean accepting Konoko as the Protagonist, which I think is something we'd rather not do considering.

We're pretty far into the negatives, so those words start to lose meaning as well.

I think we'd want to frame it as "competitors."

ITS HAPPENING

"You should know where Anon is. You used to be smarter than this," You finally fray the rope enough to separate your hands. You rub your wrists. She got the extra chafe-y kind. That bitch. Still, you glance around. Konoko should have known better.

"Was I?" Riritu sounds contemplative. Eh, the germ of thought is in there. You turn to look at your savior.

Cringer is laying on his side, panting. One of his back legs is facing the wrong way, at a bad angle. Dried blood is on his coat. Crap. Your pet is all kinds of messed up.

And your ki is still screwed. Konoko said Anon had ravaged you. You grip your fist in fury. You can't even heal a kitten right now. You have to get around THIS plot point too? Cripes.

"Did you happen to see a guy in a mesh shirt? White hair? All plate mail booted and crap?"
"Mesh shirt...Oh, yes! He was the man with all the belts!"
"Right, yeah," Belts? "Where is he?"
"Ooohhhh<3," Riritu giggles, "Konoko said he was hurt so..."
"So...What?"
"So, he's in my room!" Riritu giggles, then sounds sad, "But, he's not as fun as Anon-kun. All sleepy!" She sounds pretty annoyed at that.

So, Konoko had planned for Riritu to imprint on Knight Jerkass then. Didn't seem to work. You take the knife and slip it up your sleeve. Well, at least he was alive. Maybe...

"Er, Riritu? Have you been having special fun with him?"
"...Special fun<3? Ufufufufu, are you jealous, Miko-chan?"
"So, is that a no?"
"Not yet~"

You rub your forehead, "Okay, great- just get me out of here, and then we can go...I don't know-"
"But Miko-chan!" Riritu sounds astonished, "You need to rest! Cheer practice is tomorrow!"
"...Wait, what?"
"Fujiwara-sempai will be looking for you-"
"I think it's actually senpai- and shut up and get those bars out of the way."

After several embarassing minutes, you're outside of the manor, in the street.

>Your move.

>This was foreshadowed by how she got stupider and stupider in his presence, also how he got eviler the longer she was around what with absorbing the evil.
>We are Satan, thinly sealed by something.
>Us being Satan is why Lilith tried to hit on us so much.

>>
>>27620230

Could we use our knowledge of "seals" to unseal Riritu into Lilith, the more intelligent and resourceful version of the demon that is thematically appropriate to the world alignment? Pass it off as Anon botching or deliberately subverting the ritual to make a subservient, ditzy waifu?

>>
>>27620681
Jesus Christ this.

The protag is unstoppable at high WT.

Yes, that works.

We can shift things around pretty easily if we play our cards right and not jump all the way up to being Lucifer.
>>
>>27620650
How are those two statements contradictory? The first statement says Konoko is God. The second says God may not be good. End result is that Konoko may not be good, which by now is obvious.

>>27620660
But we know enough not to let the heroes swoop in and end us.
>>
>>27620698
So you WANT to get forced to the sidelines, so lose all semblance of sentience as we narratively starve?
>>
"Riritu, lead the way to your room," At least Konoko wasn't here. Seriously, she was ticking every last box on the 'escape' checklist. You shake your head. Fucking rookies.

There were four other sentients left in this story though. Riritu skips along- then stops mid skip.

"You said... I used to be smarter, right?" Riritu turns to you, finger on her chin, "I...Hm..."
"Yeah, you were like the Einstein of whoredom. The gate?"
"Oh, right!" Riritu works at the gate, humming some strange song to herself.

>Foreshadowing! 0.01 discount to changing Riritu's character.

Hm. Riritu is still a character in the story come to think of it. Being her wacky friend in the background- agh, no no no. You're not that desperate yet. Riritu moves painfully slowly, as you hold on to Cringer, stirring weakly in your arms. Weird ass little metaphor.

Riritu continues humming that weird tune as you walk along after her. Then she starts singing, "...Land der Äcker, Land der Dome..."
"Why are you singing in German?"
"Hm?" Riritu frowns, thinking, "Hmm...It's a nice tune? I heard it somewhere...Oh well! Maybe those German lessons are sinking in? Ich bin ein Berliner<3!"
"Great," You sigh. The house is very undetailed. You're operating outside of the protagonist's sight- who is now Konoko. God, why were all protagonists such dicks?

...Actually, that's a very good point, come to think of it. Maybe...
"We're here!" Riritu pulls upon the door to her room, and holds out her hands like she's presenting a trophy. You blink, and peer inside.

Sure enough, Knight Exodium is here, bound and gagged. Trussed like a pig. Asleep.
"Konoko-chan said I should go nuts," Riritu frowns, "But...I wasn't sure what that meant. Can you help me?"

>Your move.

>>27620543

>>
>>27620718
But at negative WT she can still finish us off.

"A...A demon! A succubus summonded to this world! Why- only APOSTLE level summoners of the JUDAS circle of anti-order CRUCIFIX can do such things-"
"Ahem, we're talking to me? The prettiest little escaped test subject?"
"Yes, you," Exodium sneers, "A yipping canine, wailing for its bitch mother's teats."
"Rude!"
"My apologies, infernal lady of the unconquerable abyss," Exodium nods his head in respect to Riritu, "I eagerly await my flaying at your hands."
"Geh- ahem," You clear your throat, then speak with a strange voice, "This one has returned. Seals opening. Uh, ready to report for duty?"

Exodium blinks at you.
"What?"
"This one also curious where entity Leopold is. Also, this one really wanting to get set up with nice new suit. Something formal. Red tie. Black driver's gloves."

Exodium stares blankly at you. Oh this pathetic little-

It is a good plan- a good angle. But, at the moment, you're going to want to find a role for yourself in the plot first.

There's some long goals being discussed here. I didn't want to wade in because at the moment, the character's urgent needs are short term- find a role in the narrative again before fading from existence.

No, they're right to some degree. Optimistic stories use tears or at most blood spilt in combat. You can Disbelief alignment to a certain degree (remember how we kicked Riritu's occult BS out) but you need to stay consistent for it.

>>27621304
Yes.
We want to stay in the Game of Thrones region, where the protagonist is merely a viewpoint character with some special ability. If we can prove that we are special and have a legitimate grievance against Konoko, then we'd get our foot in the door.
>>
Finally found a live Waifu Quest.

Anyway.
Considering Konoko's recent behaviour it is starting to suspect again that she is the one who ripped Deadoko out of the narrative and stole her name.

>>27621360

Oh no! Are you suggesting Cringer?

>>
>>27621386

>>
"Have you gone daft, little cur?" Exodium raises an eyebrow, "You think I would fall for such a simple trick? Of course not," He gives a wicked smile, "I know you're Konoko's most loyal friend- I shan't fall for this trick so simply."

"No, really," You wave your hands, "Ia ia ftagn! I'm so totally evil."
"Do you know other tricks?" Exodium lowers his eyebrow, then raises it again, "Roll over? Fetch? Play dead. Cease bothering me. Inform 'Konoko' that as soon as I escape, I will bring ruin to her!"

Ah. Konoko has successfully totally stolen your antagonist. This bitch. Riritu looks confused.
"But, Sir Exodium! She seemed very convincing!"
"See!" You point, "The DEMON in the room gets it, why don't you?"
"I'm sorry oh dark mistress of infernos-"
"Oh stop silly, call me Riritu~"
"-but I am a knight of the anti-order CRUCIFIX, and I know what my abilities tell me- that this is but a trick of that wickedly clever, beautiful, yet strong girl Konoko! Damn her!" Exodium shuts his eyes in sorrow, "Always foiling us..."
"You met three days ago!" You calm your fury, as Cringer gives a worried mew from your arms. You bite back the rage.

Konoko has hurt your kitten, stripped you of your role, and now stolen your antagonist. What a great night.

>If you wish to retake your antagonist, it will cost 0.05 narrative points, and require a roll check against Konoko. Konoko has 4 1d100, you have 3 1d100.

"Sir Exodium, I'm awfully tempted to really hurt you right now."
"Do your worst!" Exodium sneers, "It's nothing compared to what I eagerly await at Riritu's hands!"
"Oh my<3! Should I give you two privacy?"
"No. Okay, Exodium," You lean in with a frown, "Where's your glasses flunky."
"Heh," Exodium smiles, and true to villain form, expounds, "Taking your friend Konoko to La Blue Girl for her last supper! You're already too late-"
"Yeah, like that's going to work," You frown.

Well, at least you know where Leopold is. Maybe he'd do the job. Or kill the narrative.

>Your move.
>>

Honestly, /a/ will be like when Madoka was airing, trying to guess the next plot twist and getting it right for the most part due making every single theory possible.

>>27621360
Lilith is not innocent. No human is innocent to fulfill the lamb sacrifice. Supposedly Jesus is the only innocent being to be the ultimately lamb sacrifice, the ultimate innocent lamb.

The reason I panic about the lamb sacrifice is that if we're innocent enough for that, that makes us Jesus. But the plot for this anime went to hell already

Is Konoko unsavable? Could this flip from her, not be her fault?

What if upon achieving protagonist status, people's wills snap under the power and they turn into jerks. I mean, nothing's got to be more heady than the knowledge that the world really DOES revolve around you.

Oh dear...I see what Konoko's doing with these two.

They're her plan to raise the alignment. Quirky Midbosses mixed with Ineffectual Sympathetic Villains.

They're the Demonic versions of Team Rocket. Perfect for lightening the mood and reducing threats.

But I say we take these two and go with the Not So Harmless routine. That or we stick with them, that'll at least keep us in the central narrative.
>>
>>27621437
Wait hang on-

I am amazed. I didn't realize you were following this. I blame it being 3:18AM right now for me not understanding things.

I guess by necessity one of the next levelups will have to include getting more PLOT for our fair main character.

>>27621478
Naturally, other chances to pick up the antagonist will be available.

>>27621498
Heh. Well- I'll throw that in for free to provide a boost with atmosphere.

Whether to kill Exodium is a little under debate right now, so we're leaving him. At any rate, party crashing. Writing.

>>
>>27621622
You're throwing more money after bad money trying to get some return out of this. We're outside the protagonist's view and what we do has no impact on the narrative, we need to set up scenes, not act.
>>
>>27621633

Fits with the child of Morningstar thing.
>>
>>27621622

"Right, c'mon Riritu!" You jerk your head to her, "We're going."
"Like a bitch in heat, spayed and jumping to her master's call," Exodium spits on the ground, "Pathetic. I don't know what potential the Doctor saw in you."
"You're really bad at wordplay, you know that?" With a final shake of your head, you stroke Cringer. C'mon. C'mon, just a little bit of juice- and nothing.

Oh well. Keep him under hat. Battle time.

>Narrative pool 0.33.

Riritu trails behind you as you walk along. The streets dim and gray, and above the sky rumbles with discontent. Thunder roars, calling for vengeance. Heh, you still got some of this. You glance up, eyes narrowed. You hope it rains. You work on your little wrist flick to get the knife in to your hand.

"M-m-miko-chan?"
"Hm?" You glance up, twiddling the blade between your fingers.
"When did you, ah- why are we going to a high class restaurant with a knife?"

You don't answer her question. The streets change- you're outside of generic demi-rural town, and in packed city streets. A great big blue neon sign hung above a nice, orange warm restaurant, you can see people chattering with in, classy cars pulling up and away. Looks more like Manhattan than any Japanese setting you can think of. Guess Konoko liked a more up scale setting.

...And as you walk along, you glimpse Anon in an alleyway next to the restaurant, with a brown paper bag, and a hobo beard, leaning over a dumpster crying. It's only been maybe an hour?

"Hey, Miko-chan!" Riritu says nervously, "Y'know, I'm not really dressed for this- are you sure we should be going in like this?"
"Shush," You walk past the alley, standing in front of the restaurant. Nice place. A dopey looking doorman is in the front in full uniform. He gives you a nod, and tips his hat at you.

"Good evening ma'am! Have a reservation?" He looks you up and down approvingly, "You seem a good sort! Not like that last guy."

Weird. Well, at least he won't quibble about dresscode.

To Anon-kun while playing as Naya, I meant in this case.
>>
>>27621857
She did want him to suffer. But yeah, it was Leopold who wrote Deadoko out. Thankfully, we are looking for him.
Also, we're pretty desperate right now, and all we have is a semi-retarded succubus and a wounded mutant cat against a near omnipotent being in a Negative Alignment. We need all the help we can get.

And Anon is still a liability. Letting him live may coime back to bite us in the ass if we succeed.
>>
>>27621877
As of now, we're in this for *our* happy ending. Whether that's sabotaging Konoko and taking her spot for ourselves for some lighthearted slice of life, or a bittersweet ending where she realizes all she has done and kneels weeping as we apologize and kill her is a matter of which way the story takes us.
>>
>>27621902
Actually, yeah.

We rewrote Riritu because of the situation we were in. She went from intimidating succubus to vapid ditz. And that was just our power as two waifus.

The situation Konoko was in, meeting up with the protagonist? That could definitely do the same.

The only way to win is not to play.
>>
About Anon and us... Last thing that happened, was that we protected him and dragged him off.

This severely damaged his ego, of course.

But we weren't backstabbing him in-characterly there.

It wasn't until he nearly drained us dry that WE decided that HE had gone too far.

In-character-wise, we pretty much played the victim here the whole time.

So, I don't think that "Anon passed the feeling of being betrayed by us unto Konoko" has much grounding.

Also, Anon wasn't sapient, while Konoko was. Sapient people aren't as malleable as non-sapient people.

Nah, I'm saying that Anon-kun felt Konoko was betraying him. We were hardly involved.

Anon-kun must have got the inkling that suddenly Konoko was moving hard against him, so in his last fit, he pushed that idea back on to her.

Though, I don't think he does these things consciously.

I'm hoping for "Standing here, I realize you are just like me, trying to make history."

I'm still curious what sort of powerup Deadoko was offering to us. Make us a full blown antagonist? I'd be up for that. All we'd have to do would be to bring that Exodium douchebag to her and slit his throat, should bring the alignment down to -3 and fulfill the criteria handily. After that it's a glorious scramble of who gets to eat who first.

But I'm probably a minority here who can't even properly follow the quest here. A shame.

It's a reference to Gen Urobuchi, the writer of Madoka Magica. He considered it his "healing", after writing a lot of dark things like Saya no Uta and similar.
Madoka Magica is -3 in WA, at least.

Then /a/nonymous Magica, a dude that ran the Magia Series, used the phrase to refer to himself. The Magia Series is also -3.

tl;dr the phrase is used ironically to refer to apparently lighthearted settings going grimdark.
>>
>>27622074
Just before ep 3 of Madoka aired, the writer (Urobuchi) tweeted saying he had become a Healing type writer, implying that he'd written something that would fall under Iyashikei, which is works that aim to make the audience feel healed or soothed.
But then shit went tumbling down and now people use healing type writer as a way to say that things are gonna go downhill quickly and everyone should brace for suffering.

At the end of each arc, he fights one of Konoko's husbandos. Nope, I contract to whoever feels like they need me to steer the ship in the right direction, the two you listed are good and small enough to not require my services full time or for a contract the term of a project, Obsidian had just had some management shakeup during development and wanted an outside view on whether everything was still going well.

Am I the only one against bringing anon back into the narrative? Cause honestly I'm not seeing the appeal here. Beyond the fact that I'm glad he's gone, if we're going for a 'build up proxy to fuck things up for Konoko in our place' plot it'd be a better idea to pick someone we don't have to build up from scratch. Or at least brings something to the table, like Deadoko. Plus, we're still missing several sentients and I'd much rather see new characters.
>>
>>27622637

>>
>>27622642
I don't.
I'd also like to maybe check out how things are at high point levels, or at least not risk running out, rather than waste them getting anyone (but especially anon) up to speed.
>>
>>27622627
"So all this time...you were actually plotting against me?"

"Quite justly what with HOW YOU RAPED MY SOUL. I mean I don't give a shit about that in itself but that really shows how reliable you are, eg not at all. I sure as fuck wasn't about to entrust everything I am to you as you were then."
>>
>>27622637
The fact of the matter is we need a narrative rope, and trying to see if Anon is salvageable at all is perfect. It buys us time, and gets us another ally, something we desperately need.
>>
>>27622636

We can create POV splits in the narrative, force it to accommodate several protagonists at once.
>>
>>27622677
It's really risky and unnecessary, though. All we need to do it go in there, buddy up with Leo, and announce that Riritu and us are going to be leaving her and moving in with him. Her outrage at being upstaged will be all the narrative juice we need.
>>
>>27622441
The mentor character always dies, anon. What are you doing?
>>
>>27622688
Leos strength is in his subtlety. He has like, zero narrative pull. Forcing a direct confrontation between him and Konoko will probably end with him getting fucked over.
>>
>>27622677
We can use literally ANY other character and it will be easier and cheaper. And, you know, not anon, thankfully. And even then, I'd rather be done with plans that hinge on building up other characters now - small things when convenient/useful, sure, but never as the key part of a plan.

>>27622577
Sure would be nice to trust someone for once.

>>27622539
>All we have to do is use what power we can to reaffirm his role, and make him truly believe in himself and not coasting on his narrative importance
Oh fuck we just went even more meta by planning to play into the tropes we previously made fun of...
>>
>>27622707
Literally no-one else has Snobs narrative weight. He is the ORIGINAL main character, and he's alone, unguarded and emotionally vulnerable.

Perfect targetnfor manipulation.
>>
>>27622709
>Tsun bickering route engaged, huh?
Listen up.
We'll be subsuming the Best Girl title and there is nothing that will stop us.
>>
>>27622709
>>27622724
Fuck, I just don't want to read about Anon any more. Please, anyone. Even Leopold that creepy fucker, just not Anon.
>>
>>27622705
It won't be between him and Konoko. As far as she knows he isn't even sentient, it'll just be us shanghai-ing one of her characters to get one over on her.
>>
>>27622733
I'm with you there. I'm starting to wish we'd shanked the fucker just so all these people wouldn't be wanting to bring him back because his pity party made them feel bad.
>>
>>27622733
Ooh, that's a different matter, why didn't you say so immediately?

>>27622728
>We'll be subsuming the Best Girl title and there is nothing that will stop us.
Yes. Yes we will.
>>
>>27622734
He's sentient enough to have decision points, and fuck them up.
>>
>>27622750
If you wanna get rid of him can't it at least be in a dramatically appropriate fashion? Like, I dunno, getting blown into pieces by a massive spell.
>>
>>27622753
And you've decided that's riskier than putting our existence in Anon's hands?
>>
>>27622750
I don't feel bad for him. I want to use him as a weapon, then discard him viciously if he fails to improve.
>>
>>27622751
Well I still think anon is a dumb choice - sure he has some history, but he's also lowest on the totempole of relevance. If we can exploit the narrative to give him back power, we can do the same for anyone else (especially given the inspired ideas shown in today's session). But yeah, mostly I just want other (new) characters and not Anon.
>>
>>27622766
He's fine now. I just don't want us to shackle ourselves to him. That kind of thing worked out really poorly for us last time. We just need to stop putting ourselves in a role of subservience.
>>
Guys guys guys

What if there's a character that can read our posts?
>>
>>27622770
You know what will be funny? If he does improve and pulls a a Konoko on us at the end.

Again.
>>
>>27622770
Also I want to observe the effect losing protag status has had on him.
>>
>>27622781
Which is exactly what I'm predicting will happen and exactly why I'm against it.
>>
>>27622781
>>27622789

Seconded. The only protagonist we help gain MC status should be us. No one else.
>>
>>27622804
Both people we've seen in the role as crazy. If the role itself fucks you mentally...
>>
I just don't give a shit about Anon. Build him up for pity or to see him suffer and fall again are both unappealing to me because Anon is done, for me. He's shown all that's interesting about him - was he even sentient? - and now he's just a shit character with nothing interesting or appealing about him. A shit character in the truest sense - not the 'Sayaka a shit she's such a bitch!' sort, where they're actually characterized, just not intended to be fully likeable - one with zero personality beyond the most generic and uninteresting traits imaginable, which we've already seen and handled enough for the novelty of dealing with them to wear off. There is no schadenfreude to be had, no feelgood to be gained, because he's a character incapable of eliciting such reactions from me.

That's why literally anyone else (even Riritu as while she's the same kind of character, at least she would have the novelty factor, and potential for getting better with her smarts back) is more appealing. And ideally as allies in the looser sense where we don't spend point on them willy-nilly.
>>
>>27622836
Then we'll wear the crown of the mad king.
>>
>>27622836

Yes, we will not be grimdark, but beautiful and terrible as the Madoka and the Blame! Fair as the Fate/zero and the Jojo and the Azumanga upon Dayoh! Dreadful as the Bleach and the Dragonball! Stronger than one punch man. All shall love us and zetsuboooooo!
>>
>>27622848
That's as bad as letting anon turn us into a simpering waifu to me. I'd much rather escape this madhouse, sanity fully intact.
>>
>>27622886
A bit too late for that. Pretty sure Naya had PTSD before the quest started.
>>
>>27622886

So how do we do that? Break down the narrative? What would happen if we were written out of the story? Would we reappear in another story or would we just be erased? Because to me, it looks like MCdom is the only way to survive the ending of a story.
>>
>>27622924
There's whatever Leopolds trying to do. There is at least a third option.
>>
>>27622933
Yeah, but we have to work with him to find out more and I sure don't trust him at all. Even before this thread he seemed creepy enough, and now I'm worried that at minimum he'll try to backstab us by forcing our 'original' personality to reappear, or just by turning us into a non-sentient waifu.
>>
This might just be me, but now that the shock of betrayal has worn off, I'm not really angry at Konoko anymore. Maybe this is more a tragic consequence of the system we exist in as meta characters than her just being a greedy douche. But, that really hinges on whether or not she ever really considered us a friend.
>>
>>27623313
Well the way I see it, she probably didn't have it in for us at the start - maybe not liked Naya as much as Naya liked her, but probably a genuine ceasefire - but a combination of finding out about the shared pool (when i read it in the archive I was amazed pretty much no-one thought the severed -> restored connection was really bad news) and paranoia over having so many schemes against Anon and lots of smart ideas, made her decide it wasn't worth the risk to stay loyal.

Oh hey I missed a Waifu Quest I wonder if everything is still wonderfu.....

ehehehe

ahahahaha

AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I won't say I told you so, but...

Ah fuck it.

I told you so.

Now, time to ruin Konoko's day with some good old fashioned SUFFERING, like we should have been doing from the very beginning.
>>
>>27623799
No Kohaku, we're still not that Grimdark yet. We're going to be professional about this.
