Previously on Gundam X Quest:
>Dave and the others run into trouble in their first sortie against the aquatic Mobile Suits fielded by Orcs.
>Kai's black Gundam X is dismantled for parts to repair the GX Hyper-Spec, and given a new weapons loadout.
>Newtype Dolphins are revealed to be even bigger pretentious jackasses than most human Newtypes.

It is the dawn of a new day as the Freeden's adventures in the Pacific Ocean continue...

>>Kai's black Gundam X is dismantled for parts to repair the GX Hyper-Spec, and given a new weapons loadout.
We really need to convince Jamil not to destroy the GX-Bits now. Also, why the hell haven't we been using the Belphegor? It should be much better then our GX, and Atomic Scissors are alot more useful underwater then a beam rifle.
>>
You sigh, watching the horizon as the Freeden travels to its next destination, Saint's Island. You and Garrod informed Jamil of how you had both seen the Satellite System Laser Lock, though, the specific details as to how were glossed over. You figured that next time you saw Tiffa, you'd have to educate her on those beaked bastards, scientifically classified as the "Tursiops truncatus", or common bottlenose dolphin. You had the sinking feeling that, had their psychic leader not been there, they might have given into their more... basic instincts, a train of thought you'd rather not linger on.

Thus, you've been standing out on the observation deck, the salty sea air blowing through your hair as you thought of ways to occupy your time for now, while the Freeden was en route for a rendezvous point with one of yours and jamil's mutual Sea Vulture contacts for supplies.

What will you do to kill some time, Dave?

I'm pretty sure the Belphagor is more or less geared towards land-based melee combat; granted, it'd fare better underwater; but even then, when Kai eventually wakes up, he'll need to pilot SOMETHING now that we've dismantled his GX.
>>

>>
>>27576505
Not really land-based, just melee. But the thing is a melee monster. It's got Heat Wires, Atomic Scissors in it's legs, a Sonic Smasher Cannon in the chest, and shoulder mounted claw arms that contain a beam cannon and large beam saber each.
And it's got the Flash System that boosts it's pilot's combat ability.
>>
You sigh; as... delicate as Tiffa was, she needed a good dose of reality. Granted, while she was... untouched last night, you had a feeling that such an occurrence was avoided largely due to the white dolphin's apparent dominance over her non-Newtype brethren.

You find her and Garrod in her room, drawing. Tiffa was drawing what looked to be a fairly nondescript stretch of ocean at sunset, while Garrod was working on a (rather crudely drawn) battle between a Gundam-esque mobile suit and something that looked straight out of a Saturday morning kid's cartoon. At least his skills were improving... sort of.

You clear your throat, making your presence known.

"Mister David...?" says Tiffa, looking up from her easel. "What is it?"

"Tiffa..." you begin, rubbing the back of your head. God, you knew this would end in tears one way or another...

"Do you consider those dolphins your friends?" you say finally, you mouth set in a thin line.

"I'd like to think so." she replies, nodding. "They seemed friendly enough."

"Yeah... a little too friendly, if you ask me." interjects Garrod, puffing out his cheeks in obvious disdain. You agreed with him, though probably not for the same reasons.

"How much do you actually know about Dolphins, Tiffa?" you ask, raising an eyebrow. "What about you, Garrod?"

"Not a lot, just that they're supposed to be super smart, right?" replies Garrod with a shrug.

"I can't say I know much about them myself..." replies Tiffa, her eyes downcast.

You sigh. Oh how young and naive these two were. You almost regretted having to shatter that innocence for their sake.

Almost.

You sigh.

You regret having to shatter their innocence in such a manner... Not that much, though. but it was necessary, lest one of them fell prey to those bottlenosed bastards.

"Now... what I'm about to tell the both of you may be hard to believe, but I assure you, as sick, and as disgusting as it may seem, it is nothing but the truth. Are both of you prepared to hear this?"

Garrod and Tiffa look at one another, before nodding hesitantly. Oh well; you warned them.

"Alright then... onto our first subject; dolphin anatomy."

---

By the time you had finished your rather... graphic lecture, both of them were a wreck. Garrod had been doing an impressive imitation of a fish gasping for breath, and Tiffa, well... she was sitting in the corner, muttering that she was "unclean" like a woman possessed.

When Jamil and Techcs had happened upon the scene, you had explained your intentions, and told them what you told Garrod and Tiffa, albeit with less... graphic detail. Jamil, for his part, tried and failed to remain stone faced throughout the summary. Techcs, on the other hand was unperturbed, stating that he'd known about such things before hand and simply returned to the medical bay.

Seriously, did ANYTHING ever faze that guy?

Garrod was brought out of his funk, thankfully, by the sound of a foghorn off in the distance. Approaching Tiffa's window, he gasped and turned to you and Jamil.

"Guys, trouble! We have Orcs, incoming!"

You take a look out of the window as well to confirm what he saw, only to smile and shake your head.

"W-what's so funny?" he asks, his tone indignant.

"Those aren't Orcs, I take it?" asks Jamil, smiling slightly.

"Nope." you reply, ruffling Garrod's already messy mop of greenish-black hair. "Those are the Sea Vultures we're supposed to rendezvous with; They've got the spare parts we've ordered."

Garrod nods in understanding, and it's not long before you usher him outside to assist with unloading the cargo.

(Cont'd.)
>>
As you, Garrod, and Kid unload the more delicate cargo first, such as medical supplies and new tools, you overhear Kid asking about underwater use radar. It's a topic that's grabbed yours as well as Garrod's interest; such a thing would definitely be helpful in pinpointing the location of any Orcs in a possible combat scenario.

"Radar, eh?" muses the Sea Vulture Captain. "Despite all the salvage from the war, there's not much that I have that would be of any use to you guys... Though it's not as good as a D-Navi system, I have a good scanner that might help."

"D-Navi?" asks Kid, intrigued. "What's that?"

"What's a D-Navi?" he replies, raising an eyebrow. "Navi is for Navigation, and D is for Dolphin; it seems rather obvious, don't you think?"

You can't help but nod. It seemed simple enough, but there was one eensy little problem about that "dolphin" bit...

"What do they use dolphins for?" interjects Garrod, stepping towards the man.

"Well... the D-Navi is a high performance detection system." he says, leaning back on one of the crates. "It was developed by the Orc captain and former UNE communications specialist, Doza Bale."

Doza Bale... you had no idea he was capable of making something so sophisticated, but if that gut feeling of yours told you anything, it was that you wouldn't like where this conversation would lead.

"Rumor has it," continued the Sea Vulture, his face darkening. "that Doza bale uses a living dolphin's brain as the control system for the D-Navi."

Aaaand you definitely didn't like where this conversation was going. Something that used a dolphin's brain for navigation... the impact on the species' population would be staggering if left unchecked, but even then...

"Doza Bale's been producing these and selling them to other Orcs for their use..." continues the Sea Vulture, his brow knitting in anger. "After they're finished with their hunt... the ocean water turns red with the blood of their prey..."

(Cont'd.)
>>
Kid shakes his head, sighing.

"That's terrible..." he says, frowning. As... nasty as dolphins could be, you had to agree. Still though; there were more pressing matters to address, if those Orcs you fought yesterday that were pursuing Tiffa and the white dolphin were indeed Doza Bale and his crew...

"Say, old man..." you interject, stepping forward. "Have you seen a white dolphin in the area recently?"

"A white dolphin?!" gasps the sea vulture, his eyes widened in shock as he grasps your shoulders. "You've actually seen her?"

"Yeah, we have." replies Garrod, nodding.

He looks from Garrod to you, clearly spooked.

"That thing... she may look similar to the other dolphins, but she's something else entirely... Rumor has it that Doza Bale would do anything to get his hands on that dolphin, because of its incredible abilities..."

So, Doza Bale WAS after the white dolphin... No wonder you had trouble against those Daughseats; chances were, those were experienced former UNE soldiers behind the controls.

(Cont'd.)
>>
Garrod looks at you, clearly unsure of what to do. On one hand, you could see that despite what he learned, he still wanted to help that white dolphin. You had to admit, as pretentious as she was, the white dolphin was... something else alright. But still, what would it matter, in the long run? Ultimately, did the fate of some strange white dolphin really concern you?

>>
"So... a Newtype Dolphin?" asks Jamil, skeptical of yours and Garrod's story.

You sigh. Had you not witnessed its abilities for yourself, you would have reacted in the same way.

"I know it seems unbelievable, but it's the truth." I encountered her and the rest of her pod when I recovered Kai, and again during our skirmish with the Orcs."

"It still seems ludicrous... a dolphin with human-like intelligence and strange abilities..." mused Sala, still struggling to grasp the concept.

"No less strange than a human with the same kind of abilities." you retort. "Still... I'm not telling you all this for that dolphin's sake."

You sigh, rubbing your forehead in agitation as you recall the events of last night.

"Despite its human-level intelligence, it was unwilling to open its mind to the possibility that humans were more than bloodthirsty monsters, and essentially said that it hates us humans." you state, frowning.

"Still... as much as I don't care for that particular dolphin, people like Doza Bale can't be allowed to continue to terrorize innocent civilians and Sea Vultures looking to make a living out on the seas."

"I... I want to believe that she's not beyond hope."

You, Jamil, and everyone turn your attention to Tiffa, who was standing in the doorway that led to the bridge.

"She acts like she does because of how her and her brethren have been hunted. All the senseless slaughter... It's no wonder she had become so embittered with humanity..." surprisingly enough, Tiffa was actually raising her voice. Not by much, but there was conviction in her words; something you never expected to see from someone so quiet and withdrawn as she was.

"Please... show her that not all humans are as bad as she believes... she's out there right now, desperately fighting to protect her friends!"

Everyone is silent for a moment before Jamil finally decides to speak.

"Do you know where she is?" he asks, his tone even, and his face as unreadable as ever.

(cont'd.)
>>
"I'll guide you there." she stated, nodding in confirmation.

Jamil looked to Shingo who nodded.

"Freeden, changing course!" he stated, grinning as he spun the ship's wheel.

---

It's not long before you and Garrod are in the hangar, beginning launch preparations, Tiffa having found the white dolphin's location in short order. Calibrations on the Hyper-Spec were finished, and work had begun on the Leopard's underwater combat equipment. That left you, Garrod, and Witz as the only combat-capable mobile suits at the moment, if only for a couple more hours or so. You and

Doza Bale's Sea King came up on screen, at a few kilometers away, along with the white dolphin and a group of pursuing Daughseats. Chances are, he would be expecting the three of you this time, so there would likely be more than just four Daughseats to contend with.

How will you approach the situation, Dave? Both Garrod and Witz will be following your lead here.

Garrod and Witz follow your lead as you move into firing range on the Sea King, the Daughseats diverting their attention from pursuing the dolphin to impede the progress of the three of you.

While Garrod manages to successfully fire off a shot from his beam machinegun, the shots fall short of hitting the target, while WItz is unable to follow up, with the Daughseats focusing on him.

You, however, are another story. You focus on the goal in front of you, and breathe, a familiar sensation overtaking you as you heft the Buster Sheath Rifle. Time seems to slow down as you can expand your senses, feeling the emotions and thought patterns of everyone around you; Garrod's frustration at having missed his target, the franticness of Witz' mind as he fights off a few Daughseats, and the white dolphin's confusion and awe at the turn of events before her. Exhaling, your gaze locks with the bridge of the Sea King, and you squeeze the trigger.

You watch as the fiery bolt of energy rockets forth, immolating the bridge of the battleship, causing a spectacular explosion that rocks the Sea King. You cringe as you feel the surprise, anguish, and hatred of the spirit that was once Doza Bale. How one man could cause such trouble for innocent people everywhere, you didn't know, or particularly care, but what mattered now was that the man was dead.

The three of you watch as what was left of his forces panic and begin to disperse, the strength of their loyalty to the former UNE officer turned Orc bleeding through plain as day.

What will you do?

Then I thought about how he must have grown up. The son of a general in one of Humanity's most catastrophic wars.
He must have gone through a phase where he felt like the white dolphin, and hipster naturists, rejecting Man and finding solace in Nature.
Except, the more he looked at Nature, the more he realized that Nature is red in tooth and claw, and has genocidal slave-taking races just as efficient as humans.

"Witz! fall back and check on Kid!" you bark, firing on the battleships. "Garrod, engage the Daughseats and keep them busy!"

You curse as the Daughseats harass Garrod, preventing him from firing his beam machinegun or his Divider's Beam Harmonica. You fire off a few more shots and watch as both of the battleships' bridges explode from your assault, rendering them derelict.

"Uh, Dave?" chimes in Witz over the radio.

"Witz? Is Kid okay?" you ask, zeroing in on Garrod's position to provide covering fire.

"Yeah." he says through gritted teeth. "But the Belphagor--"

"The Belphagor?! What the-- who's piloting that thing?" you ask, your voice frantic.

"I am."

You recognized that voice. It was damn near impossible, but it was happening right here, right now.

"Kai?!" you say, practically screeching the name. "What the hell are you doing up here? You should be in bed, resting--"

"I'm fine." interjects Kai. "Just hold on; I'm on my way to provide backup."

"Fine?" this time it was Garrod's turn to interject. "You just woke up from a coma! you're about the furthest thing from fine!"

"You guys are outnumbered four to one out there. If I sortie with the Belphagor, I can help swing the odds in our favor; the Belphagor has a Sonic Smasher Cannon, which will pack enough of a punch to wipe out at least a quarter of their forces. Let me help. -Please-."

You pause to consider your options; on one hand, there was strength in numbers, and the Belphagor certainly seemed to be a powerful machine on par with the GX... But on the other, Kai just came out of a coma, and most certainly should -not- be moving around.

"Roger that."

You dive down low, picking off the Daughseats harassing Garrod, who manages to break away, while firing a few potshots in random directions. You can't tell in the chaos, but you're pretty sure one of the shots glanced one of the Daughseat's arms. The Belphagor's Claw Arms unfold, Kai firing the beam guns, nailing two Daughseats in the reactors, the resulting explosions disorienting any nearby pilots. Witz took the opportunity to shoot the cockpits of two more, causing them to sink into the water.

You unsheathe a beam saber, cutting two Daughseats in half at the torso. Half of the Sea King's remaining forces are gone, and according to radio chatter, Roybea was on his way with the Leopard, which made his presence known by firing a volley of torpedoes at the nearest Daughseat, watching as it exploded spectacularly.

So now it's five Daughseats versus five Gundams. What is your next course of action?

You smirk, pointing your Buster Sheath Rifle at the remaining Daughseats.

"Remember when I said we had three Gundams? I meant five." you say. "Now, last chance; surrender, hand over the Mobile Suits, and you can walk away from this alive."

Common sense finally taking hold of the remaining Orcs, they oblige, and are left treading water as their mobile suits are taken to the loading dock of the Freeden one at a time.

---

There were a handful of extra Daughseats aboard the remnants of the Sea King, along with several D-Navi units, which are brought aboard the Freeden. The D-Navi systems aboard the captured Daughseats were subsequently uninstalled, and gathered together onto the loading dock of the Freeden.

You can feel the presence of the white dolphin and her pod near the Freeden, as if she was waiting to see what you would do with the remnants of her brethren.

You knew that while keeping these things on board would be morally wrong, despite the technological advantage they granted, but there was the problem that to get continued use out of them, one would have to continuously hunt sociopathic, but otherwise innocent sea creatures. There was also the fact that selling them would bring in a large profit, but there was always the possibility that they could end up in the wrong hands, thus putting things back at square one.

So here you were, staring at several boatfuls of D-Navi systems, and a detonator in hand. Sighing, you press the switch, and watch as several pounds of C4 aboard each of the spare boats are detonated, taking the brain jars with them in the ensuing fiery explosions. You had mentally prepared yourself for this; you knew that it had to be done, but what you were -not- prepared for, was the following psychic spectacle.

It was as if the entire night sky had become so much brighter, and space had turned into a cavalcade of bright, pastel colors, with stars flickering and twinkling around you.

(Cont'd.)
>>
You could see the -souls- of these dolphins erupting from the ether, swimming past you as they passed beyond the veil. The spectacle was awe inspiring, and stirred a number of emotions within you. It was beautiful; there was no other way to describe it.

>'Thank you...'

You turn in the direction of the "voice", and come face to beak with the white dolphin.

>'I... never thought a human would do such a selfless thing... you could have simply used them... then thrown them away like the rest of you... but you... everyone around you... you're all so.... different.'

"And I never thought I'd meet a dolphin who didn't violently beat a porpoise to death, or rape something for kicks." you say in return, smirking.

She looks incredulous, if that was even possible for a dolphin, but you hold up your hands, chuckling.

"Kidding, sorry." you say, smiling. "Still... as great as our capacity for evil is, the same can be said for our capacity to do good. We don't quite understand it ourselves, but we're doing all we can to try and do just that. There are those that refuse to understand, and there's little we can do to sway them."

At those words, she averts her gaze. A part of you is surprised; a dolphin feeling -guilty-; that was a new one. Still, you continue.

"If you want to prove yourself different from the rest, don't just withdraw into that shell of yours. If you don't understand something, -try- to understand, so that some day, you might."

>'It... it sounds hard. I don't know if I can do it.'

"You won't know if you don't try."

Another moment of silence passes before she speaks again.

>'Alright... I'll try. If there are more people like you out there... how bad could humans be?'

"That's the spirit."

As the dolphin swims off, you can feel yourself becoming heavier, as if gravity had once again taken a hold of your being. You blink a few times, and find yourself being stared at by Garrod, Kid, all of the other Oldtypes aboard the Freeden, save for Techcs.

(Cont'd.)
>>
The only ones who seem to have an inkling of what occurred were Jamil, Kai, and Tiffa, who regard you with a nod. You assure the others that you're fine, and stand up, watching as the white dolphin and her pod disembark. Your opinion of dolphins in general didn't really change, but that dolphin in particular earned a few points with you today.

You sigh; on one hand, you've been spiritually enriched through an experience that you're not sure if you'll ever experience again by blowing up several millions of dollars worth in navigational equipment, but on the other, you still have at least ten intact and serviceable Daughseats you could sell for top dollar once the Freeden arrives at Saint's Island.

You decide to cap off the night with a well-deserved drink with Jamil in the rec room.

The two of you sit in relative silence, the only sound filling the room was the occasional clinking of ice against glass.

"So..." you say, finally. "Is... what happened... is that normal?"

Jamil look at you, then to the drink in his hands, and gives you a noncommittal shrug.

"With a Newtype Dolphin? I couldn't say. You've set a precedent, I'd say." he replies, "As for a human Newtype... it's not exactly uncommon, but not unheard of, either. The circumstances for such an occurrence differ each time, with each person."

"I... I see." you say, hanging your head. "Could you and the others see what I did?"

Jamil shakes his head at that.

"I imagine she was reaching out to you specifically. had she attempted to make contact with any of us... save for myself, we might have been able to experience it ourselves."

"I see..." you say, taking sip of your drink. "I think... I think I understand what it means to be a Newtype a little better after tonight. I don't have all the answers I'd have preferred, but it's a start."

Jamil nods, and raises his glass.

"Indeed. A few inches of progress is better than none at all."

"Heh... you've got that right."

"You realize you're going to have to pay for another bottle of this, right?"

"You can't be serious... Wait, you're Jamil Neate. Of course you are."

"And don't you forget it."

So we've captured three battleships and 10 Daughseats. Unfortunately, none of the battleships look amphibious so we can't keep one for our own use long term. Also, we'll have to deal with our prisoners, since we actually take some unlike your standard Gundam protagonists.
Anyway, shopping list time:
1. Parts to repair that GX
2. Rainy day parts
3. Upgrade parts for the Leopard and Airmaster
4. Another Land Battleship, we're kinda running out of room here.(Phyrennes class would be the cheapest and least capable)
>>
>>27588103
The second ship could actually be something we could use as a mobile shop once we finish with the contract we have right now. Maybe we can convert one of the battleships to travel through sand like we did with the surfboard.

I'm pretty sure we just left those five guys just treading water in the middle of the ocean. They might as well be shark bait. As for the battleships, the bridges have been slagged. They could fetch a decent price despite their condition.

We could definitely use parts to rebuild the black GX... perhaps even give it a more standard color scheme. Perhaps, as long as we talk them up a good deal, we could get a good price for each Daughseat, and maybe purchase a Land Battleship of our own.

Maybe get ourselves a Rocky-class? Those seem fairly common.
>>
>>27588103
Well, we'll have to have someone look over the prisoners in case they decide to riot and attempt to take over the Freeden or something. Then, we drag the ships to the nearest harbor, sell them and the Daughseats, and get the necessary parts and upgrades. With the money we'll earn, we could upgrade the Freeden as well - maybe improve the hangar or the engines.

A second ship would be nice to have, but I don't think we have the income necessary to maintain that. Maybe if we open up shop in the harbor town - kinda like our own base of operation. Or we get Ennil and her Vultures to join us.
>>
>>27588266
>I'm pretty sure we just left those five guys just treading water in the middle of the ocean.
Doesn't that seem a bit to war-crimeish for Jamil and Co?

>Maybe get ourselves a Rocky-class?
Possibly. The Phyrennes class is the smallest and (presumably) cheapest, but a Rocky class would be another option. So would the Alps (Same class as the Freeden) Or maybe buy a Tenzan but that would be really expensive. Everything else is either some weird submarine thing, is the Bandaal, or simply doesn't have any stats or pictures I can find.
>>
>>27588396
If we sell the Freeden as well, maybe we can buy the largest ship there is. And it'd still leave us some money we could use for upgrades and parts.
>>
>>27588396
Will it really matter in the long run? Besides, they're Orcs, not Vultures. As far as we know or care, those guys are irredeemable bastards.
>>
>>27588429
That would be the Tenzan-class, coming in at 187 meters, 8190 metric tons and a 12 MS capacity, vs the Freedens 132 meters, 6380 metric tons and 6-12 MS capacity.
>>
>>27588484
That's the one. Though I doubt Jamil would sell the old gal.

But a larger ship would be nice to have. We could open a shop inside, hire additional mechanics and doctors, get more guns - turn the thing into a mobile fortress that's made for protecting Newtypes and earning money. And the occasional heroics.
>>
>>27588535
The issue is its not that much more capable than the Alps class, which is the second largest of the conventional land battleships.
>>
>>27581807
>him
Her. Our (former?) racist asshole dolphin is a chick.

>>27588103
Maybe a combination of all of the above. Prioritize the GX repairs, keep a battleship at least or sell them and get a new/better one, and maybe half of the Daughseats can be kept for spare units/parts.

Some prisoners might be willing to help us, so we should probably check for that too.
>>
>>27588593
FYI, the battleships we captured are actual ships, so we almost certainly want a different unit.
>>
>>27588559
It sounds like upgrading the Freeden is the better option then.

If we do get another ship eventually, we should repurpose it so that it serves as a shop and a warehouse for the stuff we're not using or we're planning to sell. I'm just worried that having two ships is going to make us an even bigger target than we already are, especially if we begin to meddle in politics.
>>
>>27588664
We're already one of the biggest targets around. After all, we have half of the newtypes currently in existence on our ship right now.
>>
>>27588694
Exactly. We really should focus on improving our suits and ship, in case something bigger than us decides to come knocking. We're probably going to end up either joining one side in the upcoming conflict or forming our own - and establishing a Trade League sounds awesome.

The following morning, you assist in unloading more cargo; spare parts to rebuild Kai's GX, which didn't come cheap, unfortunately. Seeing as the Freeden's funds were running low, you did what you could to make up the difference, which included making up the difference by selling half your stock of Daughseats to pay for the supplies and spare parts.

The morning was particularly uneventful... at least until an unidentified mobile armor was inbound on the Freeden's position. Garrod had been panicking, though your Newtype senses hadn't been broadcasting any sort of iminent danger, but you were overcome with a sense of familiarity. Considering that the Freeden hadn't opened fire, nor were orders to mobilize being given, you could only assume that the incoming mobile armor was broadcasting a friendly IFF signal.

As for who was piloting the mobile armor, you answer came soon enough as it surfaced, and transformed, revealing an all to familiar black and red Mobile Suit.

"The Ashtaron... Olba?!" you say, stepping back as the Gundam touched down on the loading dock.

"Indeed, Mr. West." greeted Olba, stepping out of the Ashatron, "It's been quite a while, hasn't it?"

"Forgive me for being frank, Mr. Frost... but might I ask what you're doing on my ship?"

You turn to see Jamil approaching, flanked by Sala, Shingo, Techcs, and Kai.

"Ah, forgive me." replies Olba, bowing. "As pleasant it is to see you all again, I'm here to ask a favor of you all. If it interests you, I require your services in recovering something in the Sea of Lorelei."

"The Sea of Lorelei?" you ask, raising an eyebrow. "Isn't that place dangerous due to the constant storms in the area?"

"Mr. Frost... Forgive me for being blunt, but as enticing as your offer is, but I cannot risk my crew in an operation in such dangerous waters." replies Jamil, folding his arms behind his back.

Olba is surprised at Jamil's response, and then he seemed... disappointed, perhaps?

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Ah, right. I understand completely." he says, shaking his head. "It's admirable that you put the safety of your crew first, but none of you have even heard what the prize at the bottom of the Sea of Lorelei is."

Jamil is silent for a moment, before he nods. "Alright... go on, Mr. Frost."

"Thank you Captain Neate." says Olba, smiling. "Rumor has it, that somewhere in the Sea of Lorelei is sunken cargo from the 7th Space War. Some say it may be GX-Bits, lost in transit across the Pacific. Others say it was a new Gundam-class mobile suit... whatever the case, the contents lost at the bottom of the sea are incredibly valuable... and there are Orcs who are looking for such a treasure as we speak. If I may, my brother and I would like to request your assistance in recovering these relics, so that they won't fall into the wrong hands."

Jamil falls silent and contemplative... he's thinking; you can tell that much.

"All right." he says, finally. "Better that this so-called treasure ends up in our hands than a sociopathic Orc."

"Thank you, Jamil... I'll give you the coordinates to the salvaging site. If you would permit me to accompany you, I'd be ever so grateful."

Jamil nods hesitantly, sighing.

"Very well. Considering that your Ashatron's Mobile Armor mode makes it the most seaworthy machine amongst our current contingent of Mobile Suits, refusing your request would be asinine."

"Thank you, sir."

"Don't mention it... please." he replied, forcing his expression to remain neutral. "Kid, get your crew to secure the Ashtaron to the deck along with the Daughseats; the Hangar is too full to accommodate it, unfortunately, so this temporary arrangement will have to do."

Kid obliges, and soon enough, the engineers are busy securing the Ashtaron to the deck.

You take Olba aside, intent on asking him some questions. What do you need to address?

No real choice there, we don't have any place to put the mobile suits
>>
>>27593661
We could always gather what we have and buy a bigger ship. The Tenzan class has slightly improved performance compared to the Freeden, but can store additional 6 suits.
>>
>>27593742
Technically the Freeden can store as many mobile suits as the Tenzan if it reduces its cargo handling capacity. Also, they seem to be more likely to have some of the smaller land battleship classes if they have anything
>>

Okay then, so we keep the Freeden as our flagship / base of operations, while we get a smaller ship whose only duty is to store parts and suits we're planning on selling. Fine with me, we just need to find someone we can hire to do that - or we could do that ourselves.

Captain David West.
>>
"Alright, Olba..." you begin, crossing your arms. "Why come to us specifically? What made you choose us? For that matter, where's your brother, Shagia? I need answers, and only you can provide them."

Olba gives you a disarming smile, and chuckles.

"Nothing ever gets past you, does it, Mr. David?" he replies, smiling. "Shagia and I chose you specifically because you and the crew of the Freeden are the only people we feel we can trust with this operation. Shagia can't be here himself because his duties require him to be elsewhere."

"Duties?" you inquire, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you and your brother were freelance Mobile Suit pilots?"

"Yes, well..." says Olba, sighing. "We may not have been entirely truthful... You know of the UNE, correct?"

"Yeah... my father was a high ranking officer in their ranks before he died and they were dissolved. Why?"

"You see... The UNE isn't as dead as you might have been lead to believe. They still exist, and they seek to finish the war from fifteen years ago." replies Olba, his expression rather somber. "The remnants united under the banner of the New UNE forces, and seek to return to space and finish off the SRA, which yes, does still exist."

"And you and your brother are a part of these New UNE forces?" you ask, your expression darkening.

"In a manner of speaking, yes." replies Olba, sighing. "Though we've been actively avoiding bolstering their forces with potential Newtypes and tech from 7th Spaces War tech, it seems that this time, we are unable to avoid performing our duties as dogs of the Federation. As much as you and Jamil have been talking about preventing Newtypes from being used as tools of war, it seems my brother and I have become just that."

"If you don't want to be treated as tools, why not defect, then?" you ask, your brow knitted in confusion and concern. "Defect and become actual freelance pilots or something?

"If only it were that easy..." retorts Olba, sarcasm evident in his tone.

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Well... isn't it?" you ask, confused.

"I wish it was, Mr David." replied Olba, shaking his head. "But unfortunately, it is far more difficult than that. My brother and I are in possession of powerful prototype Mobile Suits; the first Gundam-class machines produced in fifteen years, no less. I've little doubt that were we to defect, we would be hunted down like criminals."

"Have you that little faith in us, Olba? Our goal is to ensure the protection of all Newtypes everywhere, and if we couldn't provide protection for you or your brother, we will have failed in our endeavor. That, I cannot allow to happen."

"Jamil..." you say, watching as he stepped forward, offering the both of you a small smile.

"Such charisma, Captain..." said Olba, a smile returning to his face. "Despite our deception, you'd willingly assist us nonetheless?"

"Of course. Relics of the past should remain buried, or be disposed of so that they will not be used as weapons of war. If there truly is something as dangerous as G-Bits in the sea of Lorelei, we cannot allow them to be misused."

"Indeed there are." replied Olba, nodding. "Which is why my brother and I trust you enough to thwart the New UNE's machinations and prevent the G-Bits from falling into the wrong hands, more specifically, theirs."

You've been awfully quiet, Dave; is there something you'd like to ask?

"Alright, Olba..." you begin, frowning slightly. "Since you and your brother are a part of the New UNE, and your Gundams are proof that they've been developing new weapons, can I assume that the Satellite System uplink from a few nights ago is somehow related?"

Olba nods, confirming your suspicions.

"Indeed... in addition to my brother's Virsago and my Ashtaron, the New UNE has been developing a Mobile Suit capable of using the Satellite System without the need for a Newtype... and they've been using data gathered from the remains of Jamil Neate's Gundam X to do so."

At that declaration, Jamil's face goes pale; almost ghost-white in color, even.

"you can't be serious." you state flatly. "A Gundam that doesn't need a Newtype to use the Satellite Cannon? That's ridiculous."

"I can understand your skepticism, David... but it is the truth." comes Olba's blunt reply. "And for the record, it is Satellite -Cannons-, as in two of them."

Jamil sputters at that, his composure lost in the revelation that it was his combat data that allowed for the construction of such a machine.

"A machine capable of mounting TWO Satellite Cannons?" he croaked,, sweat dripping from his brow. "Such a thing... Such a thing would be a nightmare...!"

"Indeed... The Gundam Double X... a Mobile Suit with fifteen years of innovation behind it... it could very well be the machine that could mark the age of a new Space War..."

"It could..." you say, smirking. "That is, if it was still in their possession."

Jamil looks at you, incredulous, as does Olba. By all rights, were anyone else to say such a thing, you'd consider them mad yourself.

"You... you do realize what you're suggesting, correct?" asks Olba, swallowing the lump that had formed in his throat. "You're suggesting that you infiltrate the -heavily guarded- base where the Double X is being developed, and STEAL it? Do you have any idea how crazy that sounds?"

"So? you state bluntly. "I'm a Vulture. Crazy is what we do."

(Cont'd.)

"David West... you just might be the bravest soul my brother and I have ever had the pleasure to meet... or you are quite possibly the craziest bastard this side of the Pacific Ocean. You realize that, correct?"

You grin at Olba and wave him off.

"I wouldn't have it any other way. As messed up as the world is, if the 7th Space War is any example, I'd rather not have another war happening in mine, Garrod's or anyone else's lifetime if I can help it." you say, still smiling. "Best way I can think of is denying the New UNE their trump card."

Olba sighs and looks to Jamil, in the hopes that there was someone between the three of you that would act as the voice of reason.

Jamil, for his part simply chuckles and shakes his head.

"I've learned to always expect the absurd when it comes to David. If he is confident enough to go through with such a plan, the best I can do is do what I can to support him."

Then it's settled." you say, smiling. "After we recover these G-Bits, we jack the New UNE's new superweapon."

"You say it as though it is a simple matter..." says Olba, pressing his palm to his forehead, chuckling. "You are a glorious madman, David West."

"Damn straight. Now then... when we go to salvage those G-Bits... how much opposition can we expect?"

"Not too much..." says Olba. "About three submarines, and two battleships, with six mobile suits to each vessel, which would give you about... 30 amphibious Mobile Suits in terms of opposition."

"Heh... 'Not too much', he says... You're a funny man, Olba Frost. Now seriously, how many are we up against?" you say, chuckling rather mechanically.

"I'm being serious. Three submarines, two battleships, and thirty mobile suits."

"... -Well then-."

"Alright... I'm gonna need coffee. LOTS of coffee. Like... NOW." you grind out, struggling not to hyperventilate.

You instead opt to begin swearing like a drunken sailor, cursing your luck, and the gods of various religions for your rotten luck as of late. It didn't exactly do anything, but it certainly helped you feel better.

But not completely... so you decide to do the one thing you know could possibly help in a situation like this; you tinker. You figured that the submarines would be the most troublesome to deal with, so devising some sort of depth charges, or some kind of explosive, solid round weaponry would hopefully work in your favor, since beam weaponry had half the power underwater.

There were already a few ideas floating around in your head, so you made your way to the hangar; if your intuition was correct, Kid would likely be working on something similar as well.

>SUCCESS! x 3

You buckle down and immediately set to work on some "Hyper Bazookas"; solid round weapons capable of firing off highly explosive bazooka rounds that could easily punch a hole in most conventional types of armor. The rounds themselves were fairly cheap and easy to produce, and each of them could fire off a total of six bazooka rounds per clip, and there were two clips to each bazooka; one already loaded into the weapon itself, and another that could easily be stored on the body or shield of an MS. There were several more clips of ammo set aside; you had been a little overzealous in your efforts, and produced more rounds than any of the mobile suits could carry.

You make sure to explain to Garrod and Kai how to use them, and gave Kid notes on how to produce more rounds and bazookas, if necessary.

Before long, the Freeden nears the salvage point, and radar showed several non-friendly signals in the area, who seemed to be combating each other, perhaps for the chance at the treasure that lay at the bottom of the sea.

So far, none of the submarines or battleships seem to have taken notice of the Freeden, so for now, you and the others have the element of surprise on your side.

You attempt to get in range to fire your leg mounted missiles at the nearest battleship, only to curse as not only did they not fire... again, but Kid had actually neglected to load them up after repairing the damage to your leg mounted launchers from last time!

"OF ALL THE RETARDED LUCK!" you shriek out, thankful you didn't have any communication lines open.

Taking a deep breath, you fall back, avoiding gunfire from your intended target, and formulate a battle plan. You direct Kai and Garrod to the nearest battleships instructing them to take them out with heavy firepower. Garrod opens fire with his Divider Shield's Beam Harmonica cannon, which vaporizes the bridge of one of the ships, as well as melts several of their guns into molten slag. Kai is not so lucky, as his aim was offset by a trio of Daughseat IIIs that decided to hassle the former Newtype soldier. You instruct Witz and Roybea to rain hell down on the mobile suit forces with their missiles and torpedoes, respectively, and while Roybea had trouble adjusting to the Leopards new weapons loadout, which cost him precious accuracy, Witz had no trouble corralling several mobile suits and detonating them with two well placed missiles.

Olba, meanwhile, was to get into Melee range and dispatch as many aquatic MS as he could, and he did his task with gusto, shredding at least three mobile suits apart.

The only ones who had any sort of success in their endeavors was you and Olba, whereas everyone else had either missed, were still being hounded by Daughseats in Kai's case, and as for Garrod...

"Oh shit, Garrod!" you exclaim, watching as a shot form a Daughseat's claw-mounted beam gun obliterates his Divider Gundam's Hyper Bazooka, and mangles its left manipulator. Both Witz and Roybea are too preoccupied to prevent Garrod from being dragged down underwater.

It seemed as though these Orcs had anticipated everyone's attacks; Your Hyper Bazooka was blasted into smithereens, the resulting explosion rattling you around inside of your cockpit. Roybea's back mounted equipment that allowed him to move underwater was fired upon, and subsequently detonated by several well placed beam gun shots, and it was all that everyone could do to avoid being killed.

You groan, disoriented, unable to get your bearings. You remember being fired at... an explosion, and the Hyper -Spec and the Leopard... they were sinking... You were worried more about the others than yourself, to be honest; Roybea's Leopard was NOT built for underwater combat, and you didn't doubt he was in just as serious of a condition as you were.

>CRITICAL FAILURE: GX Bits x 3

You do what you can to pick off Roybea's attackers; a few well placed shots from your beam rifle at a range closer than what you would have normally preferred rendered three Daughseat IIIs a non-issue, while Garrod handily dispatches both of the Daughseats that had been harassing him with the Beam Harmonica. Witz picks off a trio of Daughseats that attempted to lunge at him, only to be met with a salvo of beam shotgun fire.

Three of the eight G-Bits met with an unfortunate fate at the claws of a Daughseats beam guns, whereas the rest of them managed to immolate a single mobile suit each.

>There is one submarine left, and eight enemy mobile suits left.

Have Kai and Olba focus their attention on the last submarine while we, the rest of the GX Bits, Garrod, and Witz take care of the remaining mobile suits. A few well aimed cockpit shots should take care of them... hopefully.

Seconding. I guess we could use that bazooka against the submarine - we're still underwater, after all.

>GREAT SUCCESS: You
>Success: GX Bit x 3, Kai, Witz
>Failure: Garrod, Olba

You fire of a burst of shots at more Daughtresses, smirking as they hit their mark, immolating the cockpits of four aquatic mobile suits. While Olba was unable to focus on the submarine due to being hounded by some Daughseat IIIs, all three of his pursuers were dispatched handily by one GX Bit each. Kai, taking advantage of the fact that he was finally able to attack unimpeded, fired the Belphegor's Sonic Smasher Cannon, obliterating the last submarine. WItz, left with the last of the Daughseats, opened fire upon it with the beam shotgun as it realized just how S.O.L. he was.

With the last of the Orcs dealt with, that left the Freeden the opportunity to rescue ROybea with no opposition, and salvage whatever else might be down there. With that presence guiding you, a large container emblazoned with the name "Operation L" was lifted onto the loading dock of the Freeden, where the three remaining GX Bits, what you could salvage from the five wrecked ones, the five Daughseats, and the crew were located.

Unfortunately, out of all the war veterans and the one New UNE Operative, no one had a clue as to what it was, save for Olba. As it turned out, it was a system designed to boots the psychic abilities of a Newtype and allow a Newtype to render all machinery within a specified radius inoperable. However, what you had all learned wasn't so surprising as Jamil's reaction to the name of the Newtype that had been placed in stasis as a part of Operation L. A woman by the name of Lucille Liliant.

Within moments, the crate had been forced open, and its contents were laid bare (heh) for all to see.

"Lucille..." said Jamil, taking a tentative step forward. "Lucillle... is that really you? Can you hear me?"

(cont'd.)
>>
>'Jamil... It's been so long... is that really you? I... I can't see... not with the way I am now... I'm so tired... helping your friend operate the Flash System... took a lot out of me... I don't know how much longer I can stay conscious...'

"Lucille? Lucille, no!" cried Jamil, running towards the pod containing who you could only assume was his childhood crush, banging on the glass canopy. "Don't you dare give up... please... We just saved you... Don't go!"

>'I... I can't... I don't want to leave... not yet... I haven't even got to see what you look like now that you're fifteen years older...'

"You can still see him, damn it!" you shout, rushing towards the canopy. "All you have to do is open your eyes, damn it! You can do that, can't you!?"

"Lucille! Open your eyes... please! LUCILLE!"

Jamille's relentless pounding away at the pod seemed to finally trigger something, as it let out a violent hiss as the hatch slowly opened...

Each second that passed felt like an eternity for the Vulture Captain. FInally, he reached out and pressed a hand against her cheek. It was warm to the touch.

"Lucille...?"

At the mention of her name, the woman's eyes fluttered open, and she sat up, rubbing her eyes, as if she'd been simply napping, unaware of just how close she had come to passing. In another time, she very well could have...

"Jamil...?" she slurred out, fatigue evident in her voice. "Is that you? Do you... do you think you could get me a blanket? I'm cold..."

"Yeah... of course."

>With that, I think I shall end things here for tonight. It's 3:15 AM over here, and I should be sleeping. All in all, if this thread doesn't survive by... 6 PM PST, then this point seems like a good one to end the episode on.

Nah, We're currently in a positive feedback loop anyway. That is, we did better than cannon, so we had more equipment. Then we had more equipment, so we did better than cannon, which gave us still more equipment. Then so on and so forth. Mind you, the New UNE unlike our earlier opponents is a large enough organization that our increased strength is likely to cause them to divert more resources to stopping us.
>>
>>27610200
They have enough resources to stop us, really. And if we do steal the Double X from them, we're probably going to end up as their top priority. We're going to need a lot of allies, guns, and resources soon.
>>
>>27610348
So, we're going to hire Vultures, who's best interest is status quo?
>>
>>27612829
We'll see. I guess that'd be a possibility, but considering how we'll be caught in the crossfire between the New Federation and the Space Rebels, there'll be few people willing to work for us. And maintaining status quo is going to be hard when both sides want to take over the world.

Either way, once we go after the Double X, there's no turning back.

To be perfectly honest... I don't know how to continue beyond the classic "(x) days later" shit.

I have, however been toying around with the idea of doing a sort of intermission; not quite Frost Bros. Gaiden, but perhaps something more like the chronicles of Captain West, Ace MS Pilot of the UNE.

Would you guys be interested in something like that? If it IS something you'd all like to do, it'd have to wait until next week. It's still an idea floating around in my head, so nothing concrete quite yet.

For an idea of what Papa West looked like, I was thinking of Johnny Ridden circa UC 0090, AKA Led Wayline, as a reference.

I guess I could do something like that; focus on Lucille acclimating to fifteen years of change, and the ramifications of her mental damage.

She's still going to function like a normal human being, but because of this "damage", she's going to be, for a lack of a better phrase, "brought down to normal", like Jamil and Lancerow. It won't be immediate, but as the quest progresses, use of her Newtype abilities will cause her progressively worse physical pain, until she cannot use them anymore, like with Jamil.
>>
>Alright, gonna go ahead and write something up... give me a moment...
>>
It had been a few days since Lucille Liliant had been recovered from the pod that had held her in stasis for fifteen years. Though she was awake and alert, Jamil and Techcs insisted that she remain in bed while she regained her strength. With the addition of Lucille to the crew, the atmosphere had most certainly changed since then. Not to say that it had worsened, per se... but it was something of an adjustment period for several people, Lucille herself included.

For Lucille, it was strange, sure, to be cared for by the boy she'd trained in the use of the Flash System, now a man, and a Captain to a crew of his own, but it was wonderful to see how he had grown in the fifteen years since the war had ended. She knew of his crush all those years ago, and she admitted to herself that she indeed cared for him then, but seeing him as he was now... she felt something more than a subconscious desire to care for and protect him... she couldn't quite explain it, and a part of her was afraid to explore these new feelings.

For Tiffa, it was both strange and exciting to have another Newtype aboard the Freeden; one that was a girl, no less. It made her feel like less of a minority, and on some level, she felt a connection to the woman; something of a sisterly bond, despite the lack of blood relation.

For Garrod, he accepted Lucille with open arms, delighted that there was someone else who could help bring Tiffa out of her shell. Indeed; in the short time she'd been aboard, Garrod and Tiffa's drawing sessions had been moved to the infirmary, where she had begun participating in the alongside the both of them, and they'd come to consider her an older sister figure.

Toniya, as bubbly as she was, eagerly welcomed Lucille, was excited to befriend another woman with whom she could discuss far more... girly topics with, and some day take on a shopping spree.

(Cont'd.)
>>
Lucille, for her part tolerated Toniya's borderline inane chatter with the patience of a saint, though she did express interest in the idea of getting some new clothes, as the hospital gown provided by Techcs was all she had to wear while she was confined to her bed.

Sala, the Second in Command of the Freeden, unlike the others, actively avoided Lucille, and all topics pertaining to her, for reasons that she cared not to divulge. If anything, Lucille's presence had caused her already icy demeanor to become that much colder, and her interactions with Jamil had become far more... professional in manner.

In regards to Jamil, Lucille's presence had seemed to affect him the most. For one, the normally reserved and stoic captain was far more open with his emotions, in the sense that he smiled more, interacted with the others on a more personal basis, such as playing a few rounds of pool against Roybea, or visiting the rec room more often. It seemed that after years of having to grow up in such a harsh world, the man known as Jamil Neate had regained some of the youthfulness lost to him in the war. To have the Freeden's captain acting far more amicably, it was perhaps the biggest change that anyone had to deal with, but it was a welcome change nonetheless.

As for you, you didn't dislike her; far from it in fact; she was downright impossible to hate in your opinion. Aside from that, you never really interacted with her much, as you had few reasons to visit the infirmary, though you never actively avoided interacting with her like Sala had been.

On another note, Kid had managed to construct three GX Bits from the parts you had managed to salvage after the brutal encounter against all those Orcs.

>GX Bit count: 3 --> 6

As for you, you'd been sitting in the mess hall, wracking your mind for ideas of what to do for the day; the ships food stores were fully stocked, and there was no shortage of spare parts for the mobile suits.

(Cont'd.)
>>
The battle at sea was still fresh in your mind as well, and you couldn't help but dwell on the number of times that everyone came close to death at the time, as well as your difficulty in activating the Flash System on your own. You were grateful that Lucille had assisted you with the process, but your lack of control had cost you a number of bits in that battle, a fact that still frustrated you.

Then there was what Olba had told you; that the UNE had been reformed, and that they were aiming to continue a war that had ended fifteen years ago, with new weapons of great and terrible power; weapons like the Virsago, Ashtaron, and this Gundam Double X that was still in development...

So here you were, wondering what you should do to occupy your time. Wonderful.

I have a few reasons for why we should be Anti-New UNE.
1. It's probably some sort of oligarchy or military dictatorship.
2. They actively want to reunite the planet so they can have another war with spacenoids.
3. Related to one, but we should have a real United Nations at most. Like IRL. We can possibly get the SRA in it after some diplomacy once it's explained they're still sovereign and independent, since it'd be like the IRL UN. United Nations of the Earth Sphere? United Nations of Sol?
3A. Self-determination, which some now-formed countries & ethnic groups probably want, not just spacenoids.
>>
You call up a few of your contacts, asking around for any information regarding Saint's Iland and if there were any Land Battleships being sold there, or at least in the area, to no avail. You sigh, and think back on what Olba had told you.

Truth be told, as nice as the Freeden was, it was gaining more mobile suits than it could carry, and if you and the others wanted to throw a wrench into the plans of this "New UNE", you needed much more manpower and overall firepower than either you or Jamil had at your disposal, and a good first step to take would be to acquire a second Land Battleship, and recruit any like minded Vultures or Mobile Suit pilots for this cause.

As for who you could recruit, a few names came to mind, such as Carris Nautilus. While you weren't aware of how far along Fort Severn's restoration had progressed, having him and a mobile suit as powerful as the Bertigo would prove to be a boon to the cause.

There were also the Frost Brothers, Shagia and Olba. Granted, they were in a difficult position and defection from the New UNE to join your cause would no doubt paint them as criminals, you wouldn't hesitate to provide the both of them sanctuary.

There was also Ennil El. As... checkered as your past with her was, and despite the fact she was not a Newtype, she was a skilled pilot in her own right, and she had connections to rival your own network of informants, merchants, Vultures and pilots alike.

You sigh... You'd dwell on the situation later. You needed to make yourself busy or else you'd get... jittery.

I'm all for improving our Newtype wizardry. I, for one, don't want to rely on Lucille as a mental crutch because we suck at using Bits.
>>
>>27619135
>>Head to the hangar to see if there's something you can work on...

Make Fin Funnels. Disassemble the G-X Bits.

We get something more efficient, save up space and get more spare parts.
>>
>>27619135
> Head to the hangar to see if there's something you can work on...
See if we can upgrade the other suits, if we have parts for them.
>>
>>27619214
True, but we'd be sacrificing firepower in the process. Think about it; we have six Bit Mobile Suits capable of firing Satellite Cannons of their own, and those are pretty damn powerful weapons. Not only that, they're also capable of wielding a beam saber and get up close and personal.

A Fin Funnel, while certainly versatile, has far less power in comparison, and can't exactly parry a saber strike.
>>
>>27619319
Why not...drones? Bulked up fin finnels to carry a beam saber or rifle or combination is still smaller and more efficient/harder to hit than a mobile suit.

And the Satellite Cannons? Spares....or, we can put them on the ship.
>>
>>27619135
>Work on improving your skill with the Flash System.

I'm not feeling too confident about tinkering with sensitive equipment in the hangar right now... This feels like the safer option, tbh.
>>

>Work on improving your skill with the Flash System.
>>
>>27619349
Well, each bit is a smaller version of the GX, so we could use them for parts if things went south. But considering how we're going to sack a heavily defended base, we're going to need some heavy firepower. We should install some self-destruction devices in those things, in case the UNE capture one of them.

We need more training with the Flash system, and upgraded suits. If we can't find someone selling another battleship, at least we can look for parts for the other suits.
>>
>Writing...
>>
>>27619412
>upgraded suits

We have how many Gundams? Serious question, but we're all Gundam right?

I think we need quantity.

And defensive measures. On our MS and landship. A shotgun/missile point defense system or better yet? Laser (not beam) point defense to shoot down missiles.

Beam dispersing chaff missiles for beam attacks.

MSs dont need it as much, but our ship sorely needs it.
>>
>>27619445
We have:
> The GX (Dave, upgraded).
> Airmaster (Witz, not upgraded).
> Leopard (Roybea, not upgraded).
> Belphegor (Kai, not upgraded).
> Divider (Garrod, technically a Gundam).
> The black GX (Kai, currently in pieces).
We're pretty good, suit-wise. They could use some additional upgrades, but the Freeden needs them more.

So, upgrades for the Freeden.
> Tactical - beam chaff missiles, decoys, radar jamming systems.
> Defense - point defense system, maybe some flak cannons in case enemy suits get in range.
> Offense - advanced cannons, missile launchers - have the Freeden serve as a support / artillery unit.
> Improved plating.
> Improved engines.
I don't know what's available from these, but they'd be nice to have.
>>
>>27619582
For the Freeden?
Tactical, but add point defense. Either missile, CIWS or laser. Sacrifice decoys if necessary. Better not take a hit at all, and beams go through armor very well.
>>
You sigh. Your difficulty with the Flash System was something you weren't proud of; not at all. On one hand, you could ask Lucille for assistance, like last time, but on the other, she had made it clear she hated fighting, and the fact that her mental condition caused her to experience physical pain whenever she exerted her Newtype abilities was a cause for concern.

So, right now you made it a point to improve your skill at using the Flash System, so that you wouldn't place any unnecessary strain on someone that clearly did not want to fight.

You sigh, gripping the controls of the Hyper-Spec as it stood in front of the six dormant GX Bits. You take a deep breath, recalling the feeling you had when you were first attempting to activate the Flash System. Lucille had told you how to use it, and you had followed her instructions to the letter, but it was just barely beyond your grasp.

You knew you could do it; you felt a connection; it was faint but it was there. You just had to -focus-...

>Success!

Hours passed as you tried to activate the Flash System. It was a long, laborous process, and you were on the verge of giving up until... There!

That was it... that was the feeling you were searching for!

You latched onto this feeling... this sensation, and held tight as you spread your consciousness out to the Bit Mobile Suits, your face lighting up like a Christmas tree as they responded, all six of them standing upright and walking towards you.

You little celebration is short lived, however, as you spot droves of Daughtress Flyers on the horizon, along with some sort of massive carrier that were en route to the Freeden's position. You've never seen a battleship of that make before, so you could only assume it was made sometime recently.

"Attention Vultures; in the name of the New United Nations Earth forces, we request that you hand over those GX Bits. Should you fail to comply, we are authorized to use deadly force. I repeat..."

Well... fuck, this wasn't good.

The enemies so far have been either other untrained pilots which we dealt with somehow, and the Orcs who were trained pilots and who fucked us up big time. And these guys we're facing now both well trained and have improved suits.
