Last time in Mutant Hivemind quest the Swamp is crawling with huge zombies hordes, the monsters are acting up, enemy bandits are preparing for war, Super Mutant Mobile Base presence is increasing, and the ghouls are about to unleash a nasty surprise.

Meanwhile back at base Richard disappeared and then reappeared created some monstrous hops which led a to helped led to a series of unfortunate incidents at both the farms, biofuel refinery, and brewery.

Meanwhile we have detected 3 enemy bandit heroes.

Algeraz the War Chieftain of the Wastes.

Mawdra the Warlord.

Mojan the Raiding Headhunter.

Is alexis still away?
Also questions left over from last thread.
>EDE, do the bandits have population growth?
>what is Bandit society like?
Do they have wives and families? Or is growth via recruitment?
>Specifically our bandits

>does our disc of the bases show any bases hitherto unknown and/or unoccupied (like Burke's base was)?

>The Umbra corp extraction, what was it like? What did the team look like?
>Yes, were they in advanced power armor? What vehicles did they come in? etc.
>>
Rolled 13

Since we're not in a position to attack, and without alexis not in an inclination to do too much exploring, I suggest we work on our sciences.
I'd like to do some monster research in the future once we're at liberty to pursue it.

>Basic 1
Have Richard design a large monster containment facility in his laboroatory and saftey protocols. With saftey precautions in mind. This time I'd like him to actually be able to research away from location and actually be able to deal with one breaking loose.
>Basic 2
Have Clora research a way to grant her fertility bonus, so we can create a minor lovenest in new locations (such as Burks Bunker). Perhaps some type of fleshbeast woman with a mini-aura? Or a serum or chemical or such that can be pumped into the air.
>Basic 3
Have Torgue research exploding bullet. . bulllets! A big bullet that explode into more bullets that explode.
>Bandit
Have Luna go around to the other bandit camps to sell some samples of Memor Mojo. See if anyon'es interested in buying supplies
>Military
Countinue to scout for any possible tunnel locations we might have missed in our immediate swamp, as well as getting hedgeway into scouting the 4/5's of our swamp we haven't discovered.
>Mad Science!
Have Richard try to develop the "limb fish". A fish that can bite off the severed stump of somebody's arm and mold into a perfectly good one. Or better yet, somebody needs an organ transplant in the battle, molds into a perfectly working substitute.

Alexis returned and stated she shut down some of the tunnels even discovered many secret tunnels and even new freshly made ones. She makes it clear its unlikely we could find them all. Much less an actual fraction.

Populations have several ways to increase pop.

Forceful recruiting(take people away during their raids) common means for all particularly to raiders.
Volunteer(usually outcasts or criminals) Just show up and hope.
Breeders(children are raised as whatever) only common among the most well established factions.
Slaves(buy them or take them sometimes make fine recruits)
rogue elements(sometimes a portion of a faction goes rogue)

Bandit society varies you got all manner of groups. Simply put they are made up of whoever everyone else can't stand. Or their society depends on preying on everyone else sometimes even each other.

Wives and families is most unusual among the majority of bandits. They vast majority of them usually recruit by the above options.

Our own bandits rely upon above options. Most common being forceful recruiting and volunteery.

Negative just shows the basic set up.

Which is 5 bases on the surface 4 of which in the corners forming a square. The fifth base in the center. Below the those five bases under ground same position. Followed by yet another five below those. the very center of the cube is the facility that specializes in research. the surrounding bases are for security and lesser purposes. The base in the center up top is the only way of two into the research facility. The second route is below the research facility in a base connected to series of underground routes. There are also a series of 24 depots connecting between them. In between these basic setups is assorted number of 7 bases of varying purposes.

>>
Rolled 100

>>27570094
Sadly no, hives are still an issue and far too strong to attack and we're waiting to see what the Ghouls trump card is.

This time it's them who'll crack the forts and we sweep in alongside them. If we are that fortunate.
>>
>>27570212
Gah, another wasted 100
>>
>>27570212
aaaaw man D: a perfectly good 100 wasted :( or is it?
>>
Rolled 19

>>27569734
There is 1 secret base in charge of depots followed by another two secret unspecified bases lurking somewhere around in the grids. What their purpose is to keep secret/dangerous lines running of which connect all the research bases which shouldn't officially exist. Problem is bases require some real pain the ass or extremely difficult materials. Which the other facilities couldn't be trusted with or would be too expensive. their other purpose is to as 'extra' labs among other things.

Umbra extraction was transportation vehicle under guard of two escorts flying vehicles who dropped down guards who set up a perimeter. Their armor was a bleached white on pearl. With trimmings purple and detail/obvious work of red.

They do indeed have highly advanced power armor of [REDACTION BROKEN] based of the Hazard series power armor. They seemed to have finished and even improved on then experimental power armor types. Vehicles seemed to have identify the Star Drones and Medac Verti transporter.
>>

A man can hope can he not? :(
>>
>>27570238
And are there any indications as to the locations of these secret bases?
>>
Rolled 56

>>27570309
The depot overwatch base cannot be found. The other two however [REDACTION BROKE] can be inferred from certain connections, resource wells, and 'empty space' that I am aware of. All you have to do is break into them and follow the tunnels. That will lead you straight to them. Problem is this doesn't work the Head Depot. Only the other two locations can be inferred by this method.
>>
>>27570359
Let us send expeditions to them then, Maybe we could find some clues there, as well as any other goodies we might find :D Lets also put our top engineers, electricans etc on the task of figuring out where such a location would most likely be in relations with the rest of the grid.
>>
>>27570359
And after half a year of tunneling, how does Alexis feel? Is she up for some more or would she rather do some swamp activity?
>>
>>27570407
Good thing about a hivemind is everyone shares, so any one member can already access the best peak of engineering know ho anywhere anytime.
>>
>>27570447
Yes, but knowledge through the hivemind does not = expertise, as for example markus demonstrated.
>>
Rolled 65

>>27569937
...You do know we have that already? Only problem is for the real bigass fuckers and my own personal labs can handle even those. Will work on though..as soon as I figure out where it can fit.

Clora'Zel gave our representative a 'oh really' look a pointed at the lovenest.

"All you need is the lover strains that I used as assistants. They can enhance performance there is some other stuff I am thinking about developing but I haven't figured it out yet."

Torg is still gone. Action wasted.

Luna went around to the other bases(gone for 3 actions) and declared something or another so they can't touch her.

Military scouting didn't really find anything we seemed to have found what we could but its doubtful we found them all.

Mad science action denied heroes can only do 1 action at a time per a turn.

Richards lab is...sorta undergoing repairs so it shouldn't be too difficult. Or at least it supposed to be easy until Clora'Zel caught word about it and vanished stating something about seeing his work.

Forces sent underground got attacked but they repelled them successfully. Over all though its pretty empty down there. Didn't find much well beyond things that wanted to kill you anyway. We didn't get very far in before we pulled back.

Bandits are adjusting themselves for the symbiots.

Meanwhile during SCIENCE.

So...Richard why is your assitents flopping around like a fish out of water?

Did you check their heads Dr. Claire?

What wh-why there is a fish where their head is supposed to be Richard?

Mojan is it true that a Vass has come to the swamp.

According to reaver known as Dalek yes.

Hm where is he?

Right here warlord.

Hm what hell happened to you looks like you just escaped from a zombie buffet.

I lost.

Against a former reaver of all thing?

Well you see it all started with me having just fought my way through a mobile base and even a zombie hive before encountering...

What actually happened.

..So Dalek thought you could sneak up one me, stated Vass sitting on Dalek.

Ooh ow you left the reavers supposed to get...weaker or at least stay the same what the Hell Vass, coughed and moaned Dalek.

Hm just I got kicked out doesn't make me weak Dalek especially considering the excuse you used.

Bah you know the rule-ooooh that was close. Why did you come here anyway?

Trying to find Voss.

Why I mean you do know he died here like six years ago?

Yeah well the son of bitch has just soo much to explain.

But he is dead.

No one confirmed he is dead.

OHH fuck shit. He would be long gone by NOOO-w

Ah I remember when he first become a reaver...

OOOH NO PLEASE STOOOPPP

Ah he was so young freshly made ravager to boot...

Oh GAWD NEXT TIME I AM GETTING A FORCE SHIELD JUST FOR MY CROTCH.

You know that wouldn't be enough right?

Maybe not against you.

True enough...

DOOH was Dalek's final words before passing out due to the pain.

Ew rubs bottom of boot on Dalek's face. Never though it would explode like that he really needs to rape more...

Teams went out hauled back 8 resources. Actually managed to avoid the zombies to a decent degree.

Weren't able to order around the lover strain fleshwomen...has something to do with the accident a while back Clora'Zel has been trying to fix it with little luck.

Tabula Rasa states its an actual grove now and no longer a garden. He even started some other garden around. Its become quite the hobby among the Memor. As for new possibilities gotta be careful too much psionic usage becomes obvious.

Irewin went out to wrangle some new ferals. He might be gone for a while.

Vilebloods snooped around and found out this new figure is the former reaver known as Vass. Who has been causing some strange havoc in the swamp mostly involving current reavers and mutants. As for finding him no luck despite being former a reaver this one still has the skills of a current one.

Mad Science
Dr. Claire figured out how to create radioactive fertilizer that encourages farm growth thanks to some splicing she did thanks to using Richard facilities while he was surfing on in the Hellhole while playing poker with a spiked and eye covered tendril.

I support this. I also hope we build in some failsafe into the symbiot. So that we could cause it to selfdestruct and kill them or something. otherwise it seems like a pretty big flaw giving it out to people that might some day use it against us. so In case we don't have that we should include it into further symbiots.

I've had an idea about splicing Glowing Flowers (the radiation-growth plants) and Finger Biter fish together for a while now. Plants that grow bigger with radiation and are carnivorous/have big toothy mouths (also, maybe they could incorporate the limbs of monsters they bite and eventually walk around in light of recent events). Or finger biter fish that grow bigger with radiation.

finger biter fish has resulted in several paths of research.

Dislow Jaw- Jaw dislocation EXTREME
Squeeze Me- Organs are like jelly and bones like flexirubber
Syncro Replacement- We are one...whatever you used to have is totally not gone. Nope. No siree it was looked like this. Trust me.

So we got the farms fixed and the brewery itself problem is some of the ingredients...we really should of figured out what the hell Luna included.

Tabula Rasa findling with crystals...and showed us his new invention psi Crystal Scopes. Can adjust itself using ones mind and can see from at perspective just as easily.

He doesn't think laser optics will work psionicly for the most part. Or at least he doesn't know how it would do so.

Bandit forces moblizaiont seems it looks like its focused on expanding their territory and to attack nearby foes. Mostly it looks like their focused on us or nearby zombie hives.

We attacked a nearby bandit bases only to find out they were waiting for us this time. We found our flanks getting torn to pieces by an unknown force and we got blasted by siege equipment. Warlord Slag is not impressed or happy with our orders we given him. Ramona meanwhile had fun dancing around the artillery fire.

Mad Science
Richard is now playing chest with said tendril for some reason he claims its to make it smarter...kinda hard to believe consider Richard is the one losing.

Clora'Zel meanwhile is still doing something over at Richards Lab.

Not to mention the vine network open up the pathway for spider proliferation.
And where the vines grow, the spiderwebs are sure to follow.

The monster power source is the holy grail to larger biological lifeforms. If we can harness it, we can finally start building behemoths again and there's the implication of bioborg ST's. As the heart created the monsters to answer SWH, we create bigger and bettter spiders as our answer to the monsters.

In the least, if we can get the bio reactor we can finally get completely independent of resources BorgST's.

Algeraz is a former Wasteland mutant got tired of the same old and went out to become a bandit preying on outsiders. He got very good at what he did.

Mawdra is a warlord who came by to force the aimless bandits into a good strong united force. He succeeded mostly beat the stronger groups into submission.

Mojan is a bad guy you can hire to take out other bad guys. He loves finding a new target and bringing them down. His crew meanwhile raids for more materials to keep the headhunting going for funzys. Its said his group and him are even willing to go after reavers if the price and challenge is right.

Yes, let's. Also I had a plan back when Voss was still around to send him and Ramona out with a large force of vehicles to go bandit-recruitin'! The Arch-Brood King had told us to establish a bandit faction at the time. Unfortunately, the Psy-Field debacle happened before that plan could be implemented.

I think we could do essentially the same thing with Warlord Slag though, and it'd probably make him happy. We shouldn't do it right now though, as we're going to be involved in a war and he grants us Military and Bandit free actions...and also because we have Voss's (apparently more bad-ass) bigger buddy who's going to show up soon in a big way I'm sure, and it might be a good idea to have an old bandit with us when he does.

Booby traps of been laid down. Which were nearly all disabled by bandit scouting parties.

Our forces set up small camps along the predicted lines. Only for zombies and monsters to take out said camps.

100 memor deceased.
100 Vizen diceased.

Research in syncro-replacement its complicated involving fluids that paralyze the body then trick it into believing that it was always there. Not easy to replicate at all.

We successfully managed to get some Vizen infiltrators in it was amazingly tough though and their forced to keep a low profile for not. At the moment their considered little more then fresh meat.

We managed to capture a large monster. Snoozing happily in the Containment cell until Richard tried out the new sedative for large swamp monsters. Which woke and made it quite angry.

Then Richard left back to his own personal labs.

Alexis has returned...badly injured she and her team got themselves in deep shit. Despite everything they got through the tunnels despite the horrors and dangers. Problem was the facility itself by that time she and her men were injured. After that she was only one who made it back and was only thanks to Bubbles who somehow lured Didrikson to her location saving her. Unfortunately her men were not so lucky. We found the base though.

Wil has returned having given up the hunt thanks to his concerns for Alexis.

Pray do tell HOW exactly they are going to find a slight change in the genome of a (microscopic?) symbiot and then finding out exactly what it does? That's pretty damn advanced shit. We have also been selling it for months where they are most likely to analyze it, and then even if they were able to find the killswitch it wouldn't be there, and now months after wards even if they are able to find it they would most likely be more lax and trusting seeing as it's been working well for months without any downsides.

They checked out monsters brain. Only three things were detected in there. Sex, eating, and sleeping. Prophet got bored after a while while Rasa is once more doing that creepy staring despite having no eyes.

Wil and Luna tried to find Vass with no luck. Wil admitted to being very impressed about not being able to find that one.

Bandit supply lines have been scouted their pretty rare of the most part and insanely heavily guarded.

Sturdy powerful squat legs dragged it out eyes glowing menacingly head and back covered in whipping tendrils. It actually didn't have any eyes per say they were all located on its tendrils covering the top of its head and back. Stomach and such are covered in pulsing glowing plated sacs. And as for the excess Power and doom weapon, Why don't we just make a gigantic coilgun or railgun in our base? coilguns and railguns are (relatively) simple compared to a lot of stuff we've been using. We coul also apropriate some of the old rod of god defences we got WAAAAY back to help with this.

>>27574061
Nova King is oh fuck huge its doubtful a strain so much smaller we be as effective.
>>
>>27574102
>>27574106
Then we really should try to find the source of that Power, or cut off the Power in those tunnels before we try. And that's why we use viruses, Chemicals, poisons or just pump in tons of flameable gasses and ignite etc. we try everything, then we go in and mopp up everything that's still alive.
As for the coilgun they are laughably simple to create, you just need a metalspool and electricity. that's really it. the more electricity the more powerful. the whole targeting system is more complicated, but EDE should be able to hande that as well, or we just fire a lot and wait for one of the shots to hit.
>>
>>27574160
The whole sniper thing would probably fail due to the fact that the bandits could just bombard the area with artillery or send in a few tanks to deal with them.
>>
>>27574162
>New strain based of Nova King will guaranteed to not be as powerful with without reproductive capabilities.
Doesn't that go without saying tho? Everything must be bred.

>>27574185
Thing is, these are some pretty tough defenses here I doubt that'll work. There are doors and bulkheads, neutralizers, anti-flame and gas ventilators, and all sorts of things designed against that.

As for the coilgun the powergrid might not take to kind to that and it's a LOT more complicated than that. I don't think we have any good magnetic scientist.

>>27574212
But that's been true since day one, and the thing about sniping is they'd have to find them first. And we have some of the stealthiest fuckers out in addition we also equipt our troops with AT capabilities and they can always detect incomnig artillery and flee (being pretty damned fast).
>>
Rolled 23

>>27574160

Okay, sans sending Nova King with them (the forces under his command get the bonus as well and see >>27574162 he's fuck-huge) make sure the Tectus are doing hit-and-run sniper attacks and evaccing before any retaliation can hit them.

>>27574185
For the umpteenth fucking time We can't operate in the tunnels, they're too dangerous so we can't find power sources let alone cut them (that'd also ruin perfectly good facilities and let loose god-knows-what), and EDE has certified that nothing of that sort will work in the tunnels.

>>
>>27574257
What do we use Nova Kong for then this turn?
>>
>>27574162
could we possibly make a strain that's pretty much just a blob that gets carried around that just incorporates as much of nova kings detection abilities as possible? without ability to move by itself or anything, needing to be nursed by other memor to stay alive, that level of ONLY THE DETECTION.
>>27574243
I really appreciate you coming up with logical arguments why my plan doesn't work instead of just screaming no ^^.
But that's why we should focus on finding out the secrets of the powergrid so we could disable that.

And no, a coilgun is pretty much the simplest kind "advanced" weapon you can do. All you need is to let a current you through a metal coil, thus creating a magnetic field which would propell metal slugs through it at high speed that you connect to capacitators (or just the Power grid if it's powerful enough) to let it charge up electricity to be released for the time it takes the slug to accelerate through the coild and then turn of the electricity as it reaches the end of it to avoid disturbing the path due to the magnetic curents widening there, The whole turning it into a superweapon thing is just a matter of scale,

And the sniper thing is true, but a bombardment of a large are still poses risks, but I'll give you that one. sniping could work.
>>
Rolled 97

>>27574160
Well I'll vote this, but Nova Kong stays in the base.
>>

You might need Clora'Zel for that new detection strain. And she is busy with Richard doing god knows what. I suspect Nova Kong knows but wont say.
>>
>>27574404
>The whole turning it into a superweapon thing is just a matter of scale
And therein lies the issue.
We need a weapons expert for something of that size.
We shall have to construct loading systems, program the electronics and wiring required to popwerly power the magnetic coil field properly, deal with the issue inevitable recoil of such a large weapon and the design of the coil itself, what materials do we use to deal with the immense power and the strain on whatever magnetic medium (which me must decide) that we used to create the field, what projectile do we use and design?
>>

seconding
>>
>>27574467

The loading system does not need to be advanced, it could just be that we manually put the slugs in the back of it, or another simple system. The programming could be done easily with some testing, we are talking highschooler level of simple here as long as they can test it while programming. The wiring is really just connect one Cable to one end and Another to the other end, the only issue there would be the on/of switch which really is simple as well. The recoil could be handeled by dampeners and putting most of it in a concrete hole filled with differend dampeners on a rotating platform, We'd probably need to regurarly maintain that but it would work.
as for what materials, copper reinforced with an outer layer of steel/concrete to support it. if steel would be unwise we could use Concrete together with for example some kind of strong monster bone (remember where we couldn't dissect that monster?) as for projectiles they would just be metal slugs accelerated to a silly velocity, or special ammunition that we design for it.

Hey Jalk any idea how to do this?

Well we got the power....

Anything else?

No Mikey.

Well shit, why does no one remember this?

Claire begins to produce seeds.

Patrols went out but are getting harassed quite a bit. Looks like their trying to repeat what we did to them back at us.

Supporting this. And if it's the regulatory parts of the coilgun that we lack we could just take some of them for a plasma baby where they are required to controll the plasma production and outflux (actually, more advanced are required for that than for the coilgun, so we should be way in the clear) and if there are any other parts missing they should also be in the plasmababy easily.

Meanwhile somewhere.

hm what to do...

Richard its unusual to act like this.

I saw so much but I have no idea what to do with it.

Still not like you. Uh how about working on the vines.

ah yes thats a good idea and would annoy the ethical Claire to no end. Seriously though how does she expect those vines to be of use when they would only be effective for humans huh? How about monsters or even the basics of poisoned fruits?

Ah theres the Richard we all know.

Coilgun Project
Not much work was accomplished as Richard was more interested in coming up with ideas then implementing them.

You know Derek I really should of reconidered going into the mechanical even when we had Markus it painful but now without...

I know those feels man I really do should of gone into medical, biotech or fuck even agriculture of the salvage crews of would been better then this.

Hey hey guys I took apart a Hilly Billy gun!

OoH and

It exploded and lost an hand and can't feel my arm?

I go get the doctor.

Seriously though Mike whats with the hell you should of known better.

..I think it may have zapped more then just my nerves.

Yeah can sorta tell seeing you lying there spazzing out.

This is the plan. that I can only pray works

Send out the hounds
>We return in full force to strike back at the bandit patrols, in all directions. Setting up our old sniper nests. Everywhere we can we strike at their patrols.
>Spiders, SST's, and especially fleshbeasts. Incorporate fleshbeasts in every single group.

Call the fox
>Our biggest group Alexis and Warlord Slag shall go out, and hunt patrols themselves.
>In due time they'll likely find an ambush, enemy hero will be expecting them arrive to face our challenge
>and so will our hunter

The Hunt
>The 4 APC hovercraft will encircle the area where we discovered the enemy hero, and with their speed bonus lay the vines and fertilizer. All fleshbeasts and forces there are transfered Nova Kong, who gain the I SEE and Blindsided bonus.
>All forces outside the ring immediately encircle and guard
>It's just our heroes and theirs on the inside.
>Now it's time to see who is the hunter and the hunted. Our two best, Alexis and the Noble Hunter himself, against this hero.

There's still hope anon,

We can't let Wil and Novakong be dissapointed (maybe to the point of leaving). Maybe they'll fall for it, and maybe they won't. We're not risking much, we're not toying with psionics or superweapons or anything like that, it's only fighting bandits. Worse thing that happens is they know, we lose troops, but we have a base to fall back on and a realization of our enemies intelligence.

Let's give it a shot
>>
>>27576309
I would suggest that we minimize the valuable units we put at risk with this, try to use mainly recycleable fleshbeasts and bioborgs.

Preparations are made by Dr. Claire.

Clora despite her feeling odd has made sure hydra production is in the surplus range.

Irewin and his ghoulish horde is available on command.

All our forces are deployed to harass the enemy. Turned out they were expanding their patrols and scouting which made them easy pickings. Eventually however they quickly started to strike back harassing our units just as we were harassing theirs.

Alexis and Warlord Slag both took to the field it was bloody work. Wondering around taking out patrols eventually they got ambushed at the same time. By two elite teams. Our forces or at least the brood quickly proved to be amazing hunter seekers under the command of Nova Kong. Routing them only to run head first into a bandit army under the personal command of Mawdra the Warlord.

It was quite the massive army apparently they had been slowly inching their way forward. All the patrols were to keep their scouted areas clear while they advanced. While Warlord Slag was reeling he got attacked by the other Bandit hero Mojan....who specializes in taking out arranged targets.

I am not sure if i can do that, stated Wil as he revealed his true form.

Oh fuck me I wasn't prepared to take your head.

Direction is from the north.

Glimpses indicate 10k bandits at least. Equipment is all very well equiped they are all at LEAST veteran status. Scouts currently is a no in a few more turns they should be in familiar territory however.
>>
Rolled 72

Is it just me that actually finds that army a very tempting target for the entropic virus? And yes, we probably shouldn't but still. veeeeeery tempting before they reach us.

Action 1. Spread even more seeds and traps.
Action 2. Come up with more traps and spread them!! Bury pipes to sprinklers that emmit entropic virus one target version when the enemies pass by, have fleshbeasts buried to spring on them. Dig pits where we put sedated monsters in them to Wake up in a bad mood. be creative!!!
Action3. Have Richard continue working on the superweapon coilgun.
Bandit. scout out the army constatly to keep check on it, if an opportunity presents itself strike it.
Military. constant long range bombardment by any means possible. (entropic virus as well if people approve of that)

These are no mere zombies, these are veteran bandits. It's likely they have gasmasks and hazmat body armor, in addition to vehicles.

As for scouting we sorta bloodied our scouting forces, but in a few turns they will be here.

And dangit NOW the ghouls decide to strike and we're being pressed with another army altogether.
>>
gotta go. good luck stopping the bandit army guys.
>>
>>27576989
Sure, even if all of them constantly wear gasmasks and hazmat it won't protect against all the traps and thevines, and then they will slip up occasionally, take the mask of, compromise integrity by scratching the nose, or have a wounded mask from an earlier encounter with a vine or from a bomb that exploded five minutes earlier.
And the scouting is mainly to makes sure that our guys laying the traps etc are safe from forward elements of the enemy army and to pick of patrolls etc.
