As the Princess watches on with an amused smirk, Pauline drags you into the center of the room and gets to work positioning you as an artist might do with a wooden mannequin. After she's satisfied with your stance, she places one of your hands on her waist and takes the other in hers.

"Alright, Princess. It's important to grasp the form properly, so I'll show you how it's supposed to look with Mr. Reinhold here. Please try and memorize the positions," Pauline says.

She then proceeds to lead you in... some kind of dance, and you do your best to keep up and not crush her tiny old lady feet. After about ten minutes of this, she finally releases you from your torture.

"Alright, do you remember the forms?" Pauline asks as she approaches the Princess.
"Yes, it's the same dance that we've been going over for the past month or so," she replies.
"Good, so I don't need to go through it with you again..."

Pauline then pushes Marianne over to you, manually placing the two of you in the proper positions to begin.

"It's important that you get used to dancing with someone who's taller than you, so Mr. Reinhold, if you will..." Pauline says to you, winking.

Ignoring the sinking feeling in your stomach, your gaze turns to the Princess. Her face is like a stone mask, not betraying any emotion whatsoever. But her eyes... that is most definitely a glare of pure fury.

This is unrelated, but I think that when we get sarcastic or snarky, we should return to shorter and less dramatic dialogue. Like, the "woof" was funny. Partly because I think it's a bit more professional, partly because it makes the likelihood of fedora-neckbeard dialogue being used by us less likely.

And generally cut down on snark, unless the Princess is extremely offensive to us. The entire quest it's been made clear she doesn't like hearing it. So out of a polite courtesy, we should cut down.

She simply rolls her eyes at you as Pauline signals for you to begin. As you don't really know what you're doing, you simply follow the Princess's lead. Pauline stops you occasionally to move your legs into the right position, but it otherwise goes as smoothly as something like this possibly could.

After about thirty minutes of this, you're finally freed from your slow torture... but hey, you can kind of almost dance noW!

After saying your goodbyes to Pauline, the Princess wastes no time in getting as far from that room as possible. Before you know it, you end up at her next class...

Since your room is right down the hall, you make a quick stop to grab the two books that you finished reading earlier and go to return them to Gerhard. As you enter the library, you look around... there's no trace of anyone else.

This is probably the most interesting slice of life quest I've ever read. I mean, other QMs have tried to pull off this kind of "day to day" thing, and it always just ends up dull. For some reason this seems really engaging.

Not really accurate, lesser nobles wouldn't sell it, since they don't have much, but the higher up you go, the more land they have, and while that does bring more money, it also means they spend more on luxuries to keep up with other nobles of similar status.

This often lead to higher ranking nobles actually breaking close to even on their income vs their expenditure, so they'd sell off some of their rather large endowment of land in exchange for quick income rather than investing in the land themselves.

They also weren't too reluctant to sell it off because landowners could and did become minor nobility if they owned enough land and then they fell back under their purview because they owed fealty once again.

We don't really have that much gold in the scheme of things, but if we saved we could realistically start buying plots of land in just a few months.

"Oh, and could I get another book on history? I'll be going to Marconetti soon, so I'd like to learn a bit beforehand."
"That will be an easy request," Gerhard says with a bow, then disappears into the maze of bookshelves to find the books that you asked for.

A few minutes later, he reappears next to you with two books.

"Here you are," Gerhard says as he hands the them to you. "'A brief history of the Kingdom of Marconetti,' I believe by the same author as the book on Granache's history, and 'beginning entrepreneurial tactics,' by Norbert Thibeaudet."
"Thanks," you say with a nod as you look the books over.
"I have a bit of business to attend to, so I suppose this is farewell," Gerhard says, bowing.

With that, he disappears once again, and you head out into the hallway.

Although the lowercase obfuscates that, and googling it reveals that it's a turtle which is definitely more of a feminine thing to use as a user name... but also an extinct turtle which swings it back towards male. The writing style is also not celarly one way or the other.

In short, archelon is totally androgynous in character. So probably a guy since this is still 4chan. He probably just has a sister or possibly close cousin.

As if her sole goal was to spoil the mood, Nicolette stomps to the table and plops down into her seat.

"So anyways, they all drew straws..."

"Yeah. But he was the only one who -didn't- want to go. He tried to switch with Arnaud since he's like friends with Marconetti's king or something, but Thierri was like HAHAHA THEM'S THE BREAKS and so he's stuck going anyways."
