Good evening and welcome back to Angel quest, thread two. As you can see, we now have a standardised OP image, and I have a trip code. If you look below, you'll see there's a twitter as well.

New Twitter:
https://twitter.com/Cherubim_quests

Last thread:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27433908/

And a quick summary of last thread.
>A Detroit undertaker named Jonathan collapsed in the street, only to wake up with the body of an angel. There were also several items in front of him, which he felt had power of some sort. He choose the hourglass and had his body change afterwards. He then decided to try out his new wings, flying straight up. Unfortunately, he flew in front of a plane and managed to shock the pilot enough to kill him. The plane began to fall towards the city, and Jonathan tried to stop it. He only managed to make the problem worse however, first crushing the cabin and tearing off a wing, before using an angel power to accidentally kill several of the passengers. He then attempted to steer the plane away from the city, only to smash it into a skyscraper. Upon pulling himself from the wreckage, he met a rather rude lady and noticed he was bleeding light. A strange day, all in all.

And I should mention, as I did in the QTG, that this thread was set for Thursday, 6:00PM GMT. Somethings were cancelled and so I'm here now. And I will be running a thread on Thursday as well. Double your angel related joy!
>>
>Last thread we had fun but I didn't introduce any plot goals at all. This thread is going to change that.

“Earlier today, a great tragedy struck our fair city. Although details are still somewhat confused, we can confirm that an aeroplane crashed into the One Detroit centre, a beloved part of our skyline. The plane was a passenger flight travelling above the city because of a re-route less than twenty minutes before it departed. Many people looked up to see the plane falling from the skies towards one of the most densely populated areas in the city. Curiously, the plane appeared to be almost completely destroyed as it fell but managed to change its trajectory to hit the One Detroit centre. The mayor has expressed his sorrow about the deaths but has declined comment on the strange nature of the crash. The casualty rate has been estimated at—“ You slam your hand down on the radio, accidentally smashing it. For a moment, you look at your new hand in the wreckage of the radio. It has been almost twenty four hours since you were transformed into this new form, which first seemed like an incredible gift. Now though? It’s hard to tell. You can still only remember blurred details from your life, and you accidentally destroyed one of your city’s tallest buildings and a plane full of people. Oh, and the building was full of people. On the other hand, you can’t raise that much enthusiasm for your previous life, so maybe it wasn’t that interesting. And you have incredible strength and the ability to fly. Then again, those abilities were what made you do so much damage, and the strength is hard to control. If you lash out in anger, you tend to break things.
>>
>>27501288
>The hell happened there? /tg/ stopped being accessible, and I know I wasn't banned. Retarded laptop.

Your musings are interrupted by a cacophonous blast from the street, several levels below your apartment. In a few easy strides, you cross to the balcony and look down. On street level, you see burning cars and screaming people. The source of the calamity is as obvious as it is alarming. On the corner of the street, a Mohican bearing figure with tight jeans and a bandanna is surrounded by a ring of fire. Instead of looking troubled, the figure looks completely at home, scooping handfuls of the firs up and throwing them at cars. The strange sixth sense you’ve developed tells you that many people below have died.

>Observe some more.

I'll give it a few minutes before I post anything, but I'll start writing. Were you active in the last thread, out if interest?
>>
>>27501631

Nope. That chain of events reeks of bullshit, though. Like an angel of natural ones.
>>
>>27501654
You don't know the half of it...
>>
>>27501654
>Like an angel of natural ones.
If you have a look at the thread, you'll see how accurate that statement is.

>>27501669

Oh well, at least we have something to (role)play out.

Like crippling self-confidence issues.
>>
Placing your elbows on the edge of the balcony and your head on your clasped hands, your watch the figure some more. As well as the Mohican and bandana, they are wearing goggles, gloves and a black hoody with a large white A on it. An anarchist, some part of your mind says. You have some trouble linking the word to any meaning, but eventually pin it down. As far as you remember, they’re people that resent the structure of government and the roles forced on them by society, but are mostly angry teenagers. This person seems very angry, as they are using their strange control of fire to turn dozens of cars into burning frames. Soon, every vehicle in the street is nothing but burning metal and there are no living people there anymore. Some were caught in the igniting automobiles, but most simply ran. As you watch, the figure stumbles into a shopping mall, swigging from a bottle retrieved from their jacket. Once they get inside the mall, you can no longer see them. You sense more deaths though.

>Fly down.
>Ignore it.
>Other, Specify.

>>Fly down.
>>
>>27501767

Pursue and engage.
>>
>>27501767
Fly down and engage the hostile.

We kinda have to redeem ourselves for the small carnage we caused.
>>
>>27501852
>small
>>
>>27501852

Yeah, apparently saving people is not our thing, but in this case eliminating one might just work.
>>
>>27501871
I figure we may be more of an avenging angel that smites evil and protect people by eliminating threats preemptively. Saving people didn't really work last time. Damned real world physics.
>>
After a moment’s deliberation, you leap from the balcony and wing your way down. Last time you used your powers, it resulted in the new 9/11. Not using them might have even worse consequences this time, though. As you fly down, you can’t resist looking yourself over in the reflective surfaces of windows. You look as incredible as last time you examined yourself, though now you can admire your incredible wings in flight. Speaking of your wings, should they be blinking like that? Every single one of the eyes on your wings are blinking perfect harmony, in some sort of pattern. You take a moment to consider its implications, but dismiss it. Those eyes are weird, who knows why they’re doing what they’re doing.

You alight on the ground before the shopping mall and look into the building. Flames flicker on the walls and floor, but seem to be dying out. As you look further in, you see the roasting corpses of many shoppers and the anarchist. You still can tell what sex they are, but it’s much more evident that they’re drunk at this range. Something about the way they stumble when they walk and the random jerking of their limbs. This doesn’t make them any less dangerous, and spurts of flame still shoot from the figures fingers. As you step inside, you look down at you leg. You can still see the thin cracks where the strange substance bled out yesterday, but it seems mostly healed. The surrounding flames seem to little more to you than the roaring winds above the city did.

>Engage? If so, state how and roll a D20

Tell them to stop, then hit them when they refuse.

“Hey, burning person! Knock it off! There’s no situation where going on a murdering fire rampage is acceptable. If you’re really that angry about the government, you should –“ Your smart comment is cut off when they drunkenly wheel to face you and send a jet of fire straight for you. It’s not all that hard to evade, as they flail vaguely in your direction rather than really trying to hit you. A smart few steps to the side puts you well out of harm’s way. Well, you think to yourself, I tried talking them down. Is that enough of an excuse to hit them? I think so.

There’s a lot of room in the mall for flying, but you opt for a different approach. You haven’t tried running in this body, so let’s have at it. Breaking into a jog and then a sprint, you shoot across the dividing distance. As you get within a few metres, bravado makes you roar a battle cry of incoherent vowel sounds. The anarchist desperately slashes their arms through the air, sending several waves of flame at you. But when you are a metre or so away, you simply leap over the flames and then beat your wings once to send yourself slamming into your opponent. Your hands grab the front of their clothes a second before you collide with them, driving them into the floor. You feel the tiles shatter beneath the impact, along with the anarchist’s spine. Now you are crouched in crater in the floor of a burning mall, with a dead anarchist/pyromancer in your hands. You pull back the bandanna and reveal that it was indeed a man, or at least male. They look to have been about seventeen, and covered in acne. A ring pierces their lip, and eye shadow has been put on their eye lids. Not the face of a powerful killer.

What now?
>Try and put out the fires, state how.
>Leave the mall

We would probably end up extinguishing fires with a can of kerosene.
>>
>>27502432
Check the body for anything occult: marks, tattoo, book, symbols, anything.

Then leave the mall. The fire department can take care of the fire.

Unless, well, our weird angel wizardry can kill flames too.
>>
>>27502490
You know it killed the lights in the plane, though people died last time you used your angel powers.
>>
>>27502518
Is there anyone around our power could possibly kill?

Flap our wings to try and blow them out. Hopefully that won't just spread the fires.

Sorry, I meant to say that we'll examine the body then leave.
>>
Zyzz brah, its a way of life.
>>
>>27502639
As an undertaker, we could also check for the cause of death. I suspect it was caused by blunt trauma from a rigorous divinely inspired pummeling.
>>
>>27502662
An astute suspicion. His back is broken, and his neck probably is as well. And the back of his head migtht be a messy red pulp where it hit the floor.
>>
I say we should leave but take the body with us. If I didn't read something wrong then he created fire from his arms somehow.
>>
>>27502691
Thats a good idea. We could leave with the body then examine it in a safe place.

Curious as to where such a person gained the power to burn down buildings and create infernos, you start to examine the body for anything that might signify the arcane or even a link to angelhood. The boy has no wings and is clearly made of meat and bone, but you know little about being an angel. Perhaps he was a different kind to you. After looking him over, you find nothing. No easily visible tattoos, no strange pendants or occult items and nothing under his sleeves that might have conjured the fire. Some cash, a hip flask of whiskey and a set of keys. You no more understand why he was given his power than why you were given yours. Letting the body fall into the hole you made, you walk out of the mall and fly up before landing on the roof of your apartment. A feeling of achievement and confidence that had been severely lacking in your mind for the last day settles over you. That man-child had been killing people, and you stopped him. You remember someone in your past saying that redemption is taken from the fires of combat. Seems about right.

>Cont.

>>27502823
“Jonathan. Be at peace, and know that I am your brother.” Says a deep, rich voice from behind you. You turn to see what can only be described as an angel. He looks much like you do, except he wears, in place of a toga, battle armour in the Greek style. The armour is made of a strange grey metal, that seems to have no reflective properties at all. His figure is handsome and smooth, with a slightly amused look on his face. His skin, if such it can be called, is the same midnight black as your own. Even his mighty wings match yours, with their mysterious eyes taking you in. You take a step back in shock, and a sad smile breaks out across his face. “Do not be alarmed my brother. I have come to take you home. I was ready to bring you from your dwelling, but then I saw that you wished to confront that murderer. It was well done, though I notice you made no use of any of you powers.” He looks at you as though expecting a response, and you feel a slight panic in your chest.

Quite simply, the threat he posed didn't warrant the use of any power. He was but a weak manchild playing with powers outside of his understanding. Wasting my powers on him would have been an insult to the great Creator who blessed me with them.

“We know, Jonathan. We saw what you did, though we were unable to reach you until now. We know too that you did everything you could to prevent the disaster that befell you. You feel guilt at your part in what happened; let it go. Other Kherapim have caused far greater desolation than that as they awakened. I'm sure you have heard of the ancient city of Pompeii? It was a Kherapim of the Jin that caused the volcano to ignite, and he now sits on the council. But little of what I'm saying makes sense to you, does it?” You mutely shake your head.

“Jonathan, you are a Kherapim of the court of Soph. The Kherapim have safe guarded mankind and the earth from threats for longer than man has walked the earth, and you are now one of our number. The mortals have named us many things, but angel is the word they use most. Usually, a human can only become a Kherapim if their life force was a Kherapim in a previous existence, but these are strange and desperate times. You are one of many new Kherapims, or angels if you prefer, to be picked and given a choice of court. If you were not so focussed on what you perceived as your failure, you would have heard the news of many strange sightings and incidents all over the world. Now, will you follow me to where you belong?”

Nodding, you ask one thing “What’s your name? You know mine”. The towering angel inclines his head, as though you had pointed out a mistake he had made or a minor offence. “I am sorry brother, I should have introduced myself. My name is Kreseum, and I am a lieutenant of the court of Soph. Now, take my hand”. He reaches out his left hand, and you take it. With a strange gesture of his right hand, you feel a strange twist in the air and see a rift open a few score metres above you. He nods, and the two of you ascend towards it. A twisting wreath of energy surrounds several marble steps , which lead off into a mist of light. You swallow at the prospect of ascending to heaven itself, but follow Kreseum.
